on the Peacock Act. Final hour in this Monday, best
and Worst to the weekend, as we always do. Hope
you had a great weekend. Again, my thanks to the
city of Cincinnati. Great turnout for my books signing. Got
a proclamation there, said some nice things about me. I
may go back there. Oh Mason, Ohio, got a proclamation

(00:48):
they You know, sometimes you have these smaller towns where
they'll put home of I haven't gotten that yet with
my little town, really no. Yeah, yeah, well.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
There's like a big there's like big industry there.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
They're like the home of Procter and Gamble. Procter and Gamble,
yeah yeah, right, yeah, yeah yeah. Well it was my
home before it was Procter and Gamble. But Procter and
Gamble is kind of a bigger.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Does Procter and Gamble even go there if you're not
from there, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Probably not, Yes, because the land was really cheap, That's
why they went there. Yes, Paul, the.

Speaker 5 (01:22):
Town is Mason, Ohio.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Correct.

Speaker 6 (01:24):
Yes, Now let's say they get into a showdown between
Is George Clooney the actor from Mason?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
No I have him.

Speaker 6 (01:33):
It's being reported different places that he's from Mason, Ohio.
Lived a long part of his life in Mason.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
He went to church in Mason, Ohio. That's big, But
so did I.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
If it's a showdown between you and Clooney, I'm going
to lose that.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
But I think they lived in northern Kentucky. His dad,
Nick Clooney, was a big news anchor, carpetbagger. Yeah, Channel twelve. Yeah.
Now he wasn't from Mason. I don't remember him now.
I know that he had a crush on my sister Annie,
But but I don't I don't know how if he
lived in Mason, how long he lived? Does he claim
Mason like I claim Mason, Ohio?

Speaker 6 (02:08):
I got Clooney born in Leston, Kentucky. Yeah, he lived
in Kentucky.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
For quite a while. He was raised at some point
in his life.

Speaker 6 (02:15):
It says a few different towns in Kentucky, then Worthington, Ohio,
then a few years in Mason.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah. I don't remember him in Mason.

Speaker 6 (02:22):
They should be like a cutoff, like you know, isn't MLB.
You have to be ten years to be in the
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
I don't think he did ten years in Mason. Yeah,
we'll call for him.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, and it's not like I want to. You know,
a sign that says home of Dan Patrick.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
You wouldn't go back and be there for.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
The I would not go like ribbon cutting and all
that stuff, get a key to the city.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
You wouldn't bring your whole family.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah. I did get a proclamation and they
said some nice things. I got to see some people
I grew up with, and it was nice, nice little homecoming.
Let's see, Monday night football got a couple of games tonight.
You have Saint Panthers and you have the Browns and
the Steelers. The DraftKings line Saints minus three versus the Panthers,

(03:06):
and the Steelers are getting two against the Cleveland Browns.
Let's see, if we're looking at must win sitting, well,
Panthers aren't good. Steelers got to win this game. I
mean the Browns, you hope you're going to win this game,
but the Steelers got to win this game. As far
as yesterday and even Saturday, you know there was some

(03:26):
there were some bad wins and some good losses, like
the Patriots losing last night. They didn't get embarrassed. They
just don't have the offensive firepower to keep up with
somebody like Miami, and Miami is legitimate, that offense is great.
Keep an eye on the Ravens. I've said that my
preseason pick, if I was going to try to make

(03:48):
money on the MVP, would have been Lamar Jackson. I
told you about Zay Flowers. I said, he's he's going
to be incredible wide receiver out of Boston College. It's
the fact that he played at Boston College that I
don't think people were buying into it. I'm like, man,
just watch him and having a scout. One of my
sources saying, somebody's getting an All Pro. Then he got

(04:10):
drafted and my source said, Baltimore got an All Pro
wide receiver and he is great. You go into Cincinnati,
the offense struggle. Now, Joe Burrow don't know what the
update is on his calf. Waiting for an update on
Saquon Barkley this morning because he got hurt late in
that comeback win against the Cardinals. Having an MRI this morning.

(04:31):
Phone calls coming up eight seven to seven three DP
show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com Twitter handle a DP
show and we say good morning to our radio affiliates
around the country every Friday. When I talk about Meet Friday,
I use the expression that we got from the Harball family.
And here's John Harbaugh after the Ravens win against the Bengals.

Speaker 7 (04:54):
Who's got it better than us?

Speaker 8 (04:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (04:56):
Did you hear it?

Speaker 2 (04:57):
What was the answer?

Speaker 10 (04:59):
What was answered?

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Who's got it better than us?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Nobody? Nobody?

Speaker 11 (05:02):
Nobody?

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, all right, got to work on that. It's not
quite like Dion. You know, they've done it, made it personal.
He went personal and just to let the Ravens know
who has it better than we knew nobody. That's how
you do it. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
Do you see Colorado's pregame speech. Dion had his mom
and the Rock in there. Of course, it's like a
TV You couldn't make.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
A TV show as good as Saturday. Here comes the
Rock and Mom.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Yeah, the pregame and Lil Wayne is there.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
I see.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
I mean it was it was wild that we have
not had an atmosphere like you'll have a football atmosphere.
That was something that was I mean, it's crazy when
you think about how everybody Paulie said, it's like pop
culture the atmosphere. Pop culture that was WWE, that was

(06:00):
reality show. That was college football atmosphere, and it lived up.
You know, the game was wonderful. Colorado didn't play great,
but they kept playing good enough to stay in it,
and then they got the big play and ended up
winning and it paid off. Here is Dion talking about
the win, and he also complimented Colorado State.

Speaker 12 (06:21):
You know, I could be petty they petty, but I
ain't got time for that, man. I'm own some bigger things. Hey,
I'm happy for the brother, I really am.

Speaker 11 (06:29):
Man.

Speaker 12 (06:29):
I'm happy that they fault, that they played a good game.
I'm happy he's a head coach. I'm happy for any
brother that's doing it in successful man, I truly am.
I don't I don't know where all this stuff come from.
I have to respond because you know it's my mama
told me that. You know, Yeah, he just ain't gonna
take me in. I'm gonna sit back and ain't gonna
say nothing. But I'm happy for that dude. Man, I

(06:50):
don't know him that I'm happy for him. I wish
the best for him, I really do. My success ain't
got nothing to do with his, So why would I
want him to succeed. I don't know how people get
down like that. My blessings ain't got nothing to do
with his blessing.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
So he's rooting for the brother. But is he rooting
for the brother? And should he be rooting for him?
It was just it was a competitive game Colorado State.
It's a rivalry game, and sometimes it's the team that
you don't expect that ends up winning a rivalry game.
And they almost did that could have done that.

Speaker 9 (07:24):
Yes, Marvin, I think he was rooting for him in general,
just not that's him.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah yeah, but he doesn't know the dude, No, not
one bit. No, he doesn't know. And then Dion had
this to say about his team refused to lose.

Speaker 12 (07:40):
Truthfully, it's one point in the game. I said, we
can't let this dude win. Ain't no way we let
this dude win. You know, his press conference is gonna
be unbearable if we let this dude win. And but
I knew, even when we got the ball on a
two or three four young line, I said, as long
as the ball this your door's hands, we're gonna get

(08:01):
down this field. I knew that with not a shadow
of a doubt.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Okay. Uh so he would have been unbearable in that
press conference, even though he's rooting for the dude.

Speaker 9 (08:12):
Yes, Mark, Colorado was the hoof of the weekend, for sure.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
You can't deal with this dude.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Yeah. Handshake, Oh, that would have been spicy. That would
have that would I honestly thought, if that coach at
Colorado State wins, does he get a pair of sunglasses
and put those on and goes over there, doesn't take
off his hat and shakes Dion's hand. Somehow I think

(08:40):
that there was a game plan there if he won,
what he was going to do. Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe
I read too much into it. Felt like there was
going to be that. Okay, right. Their handshake was good, though, Yeah,
it was. It was nice.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
It was like, all right, so this this is over.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
And I think it was uh, you know, sometimes you'll
have this when fighters get ready to fight and they
say things about each other and then all of a
sudden it's over and they hug each other say nice
things about each other. That's what it felt like. By
the way, if you go to Danpatrick dot com the
T shirts, we just got the crappin Burg State. Yeah,
crap you or is it you crap? Yeah, but we

(09:19):
have that T shirt. Please redrink responsibly. Yeah, please readrink sponsor.
Please readrink drink sponsor me. Yeah, that was my slip
up there. So we got we got a few new
T shirts in there, and you can go to Danpatrick
dot com. A couple of phone calls. What's poll question
for the final hour of this program.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Dan, We could go with, uh, we have a bunch
of oh and two or two and o options, Okay
that we could throw up there, like which two and
O AFC team do you believe in least?

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Dolphins or Ravens do I believe in least? Well, why
can't I do? Which one do you believe in most?
You can? But the flip side of that is which
oh and two AFC team do you believe in most? Right?
So that you could have Bengals, Broncos, Patriots, Chargers, Texans,
I'm going to say the Bengals, but I'm going to

(10:11):
put an asterisk by that because of Joe Burrow. I
believe in the Ravens more than I do the Dolphins.
But that's only because he Well, that's only because I've
picked the Ravens to be, you know, one of those
teams that can go to the Super Bowl, and I
truly felt that this year. And I think Lamar Jackson

(10:31):
was a great pick for mv pick. The pass he
threw to Zay Flowers is spectacular. Now people will focus
on Jay Flowers catch because they don't want to give
credit to Lamar Jackson throwing. But that is a pass
that nobody's going to do it better than that pass
that he threw. But I would say the Ravens. Ravens always,

(10:52):
you know, got a great coach, They win close games.
They just got to stay healthy. That's been the biggest problem,
certainly at the running back position. Well, Lamar has been injured.
Odell Beckham got banged up a little bit yesterday. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
Paul Best Staff for the Miami Dolphins. Tua in two games,
he's been sacked once, He's been hit three times, three hits,
quarterback hits.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
That's pretty good. That's pretty good. No need to use
jiu jitsu or whatever it is. He's to no right ton.
By the way, the Washington Commander's offense for real, Eric Bien,
I mean anybody? Yeah, they right now better offense than the.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
Kansas City Jeeves storyline.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
That was my big surprise with Kansas City. They won,
but how they won. They won with their defense. And Jacksonville, man,
if you want to play with the big boy, you
gotta win those games. Trevor Lawrence, you gotta win those games.
Here's Doug Peterson, the Jags head coach.

Speaker 13 (11:58):
You played good teams, he played well. Seems you can't
beat yourself, and that's what we did today. We beat ourselves. Yes,
the defense, yes, special teams played well, but it takes
all three phases, right, That's that's what football teams do,
and we didn't do that well enough today. The opportunities
were there and we didn't do it.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Got to win those games. It's like Detroit, you gotta
win those games. The you know, the media can say
whatever they want, Analysts can say, oh man, the Lion's
great story. Man, I really like them win those games.
Same with Jacksonville, Trevor Lawrence win those games. Dale in Kentucky. Hi, Dale,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 14 (12:36):
Well, Dan, I've got a worse than event. And if
you have time, I need to ask Polly a mental
health question. Oh okay, for I need some advice. Okay,
And my my worst is my Western Kentucky Hilltopper is
getting select in Columbus. My best is they got one
point eight million to do it.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
All right now, mental health question for Pauline.

Speaker 14 (13:02):
All right, So Paully will relate to this because he's
also an alumni of a directional university. So Western Kentucky
University beat South Florida by seventeen in the opening week
and Alabama beat them by fourteen? Does on does that
mean in my delusional mind as a Hilltopper fan, that
we're better than Alabama? I mean you taught me off

(13:23):
the lake, Polly.

Speaker 6 (13:24):
Now, I love when people do that, Like when your
team beat someone and then that team beat someone, the
transference that means we're better than blank.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
This happens a lot with college basketball where somebody beat
somebody and then that team would have been the national
champ because they that team, and then that team beat
that team and that team beat that team. Yeah, just
some of the most factual anecdotes that we have though.
That's the only way you can truly compare other than
playing head to head. If we beat you and then
you beat them, then we're just as good as them.

(13:54):
Chris and Colorado. Hi Chris, what's on your mind?

Speaker 15 (13:58):
Dan?

Speaker 1 (13:59):
It's long term first time six foot one, Well maybe
now six foot if I'm being honest. So there is
no worst of the weekend. The best of the weekend
has to be an American cyclist winning a Grand Tour
event in our own step couse. This hasn't been done
in ten years. We haven't had any relevant cyclists, and

(14:20):
he did it on a dominant cycling team with a
lot of drama. That is my best.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Okay, Well, thank you, Chris.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
That's gonna be mine.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
Yeah, glad I got mine out first.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Paulie, do you have your best and worst of the weekend?

Speaker 8 (14:35):
You?

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Yeah, I've definitely the Missouri kick.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
You know.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
I love these games.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
By the way, when a one double A school gets
paid to beat a big big school Stanford Stanford not
Sanford Stanford in California, they lost thirty to twenty three
to Sacramento State Sacramento State got like six hundred and
fifty grand to come there, Yeah and beat him.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
Yeah, I love that stuff.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
John and Hartford. Hi, John, WIT's on your mind? Hey?

Speaker 15 (14:59):
Dan? How's it going for?

Speaker 16 (15:00):
For taking my call?

Speaker 15 (15:01):
So I had a couple of bad wins and good
losses I wanted to throw at you get your opinion
on them. The bad win, I think would have to
be Florida State going into Boston College and barely escaping.
I know it's a conference road game, but there was
so much hype around this team coming into the preseason,
and then even after their big victory against LSU, everyone's

(15:25):
saying Jordan Travis might be in the Heiden conversation, and
they just were completely flat in that second half against
a team that won three games last year. So I'd
have to say that's a bad win, and then fair
I guess a good loss. I'd have to say maybe
the Houston Texans. They were getting completely blown out at
halftime and CJ. Stroud actually looked pretty good in that game,

(15:48):
three hundred and eighty four yards passing two touchdowns. Texans
could have completely rolled over. They kept fighting in the
second half. I know it's going to be a long
year for them and their fans. But I guess if
you took something optimistic out of that, it would be
the performance of CJ.

Speaker 17 (16:03):
Stroud.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
All right, well, thank you John, CJ. Stroud. No interceptions either.
But Anthony Richardson got banged up again, second week in
a row. We'll take a break. We have more phone
calls coming up. Best and worst of the weekend. We're
back after this. Wolf and Shepherd. Wolf and Shepherd made
and worn by athletes. You've probably seen them with Rob Gronkowski,

(16:25):
Steve Nash, Maria Sharapova, a fellow broadcaster, Aaron Andrews who's
joined the team as well. And these shoes are great.
You know, you have the crossover, and what that means
is they've taken the classic dress shoe but made it comfortable.
You really get an athletic shoe. And there are times
many times when you put on grown up shoes, those

(16:46):
dress shoes, and you're like, oh, I can't wait to
get these off. That's not the case with Wolf and Shepherd.
The new cruise line, cutting edge of casuals and styles
made to be worn every day, the comfort to actually
do it. Designed in La crafted from premium Italian leather
in Portugal. The shoes look great, feel great. The future

(17:06):
of footwear Never sacrifice style for comfort again. Wolf and
Shepherd dive into the future of footwear, discover what shoes
were always meant to be Wolfandshepherd dot com, Wolfandshepherd dot com.
Thanks for listening to The Dan Patrick Show podcast. Be
sure to catch us live every weekday morning nine until
noon eastern six to nine Pacific on Fox Sports Radio

(17:28):
and you can find us on the iHeartRadio app at
FSR or stream us live on the Peacock app. Ohio
State Notre Dame on NBC. That'll be in primetime coming
up on Saturday night. I haven't looked at the rest
of the schedule to see if there are any other
great games. You have Colorado at Oregon, the Chargers will
be at Minnesota that got spicy, and you have the

(17:52):
Rams at Cincinnati. It's a Super Bowl rematch. As they
like to say. Boy, this is if last. This past
week wasn't a must win for the Bengals, this next
week is a must must win for them. And the
Rams are proven to be a tough out and they
played pretty well against the forty nine Ers and of course,
they won their first week against Seattle, but the Bengals,

(18:14):
You've lost two divisional games and now the Rams come
to town. We have an update on Travis Hunter's health
for the game against Oregon. What's the update? Pulling?

Speaker 6 (18:24):
According to Brett McMurphy college football reporter, the Colorado wide
receiver defensive back will be out three weeks. According to
Dion Sanders Buffalo, the Buff's next three games are at Oregon,
hosting USC, and at Arizona State.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
All three would have been national TV.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
What is the injury?

Speaker 5 (18:42):
It's it's They think it's like shoulder.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Are at double check it, by the way.

Speaker 6 (18:50):
Their speculation about either concussion or ribs or shoulder, but
no one's given on the details of.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
The injury might be all of the above. Latavious Murray
scored a rushing touchdown and the Bills win against the Raiders,
so he's one of four players in NFL history to
score a rushing touchdown for at least six different teams
Bill's Ravens, Broncos, Vikings, Saints, Raiders. He joins one other

(19:15):
running back and two other quarterbacks who scored at least
one rushing touchdown for six different teams. Anybody want to
take Marvin, I'm going to go to you. I think
you're going to get one of them. Ryfuzpatrick that is one.
He's the leader with eight teams. He scored a rushing
touchdown for. So we have a running back and a quarterback,

(19:41):
and he guesses you got to go back maybe twenty
years for the quarterback. Recently for the running back. The
running back I didn't know played for six teams. Yes,
Mark Adrian Peterson, Yes, Now the quarterback played a long time.

(20:12):
Paul Josh Josh McCown. Josh McCown No, uh, first initial
same as the uh his last name initial. That helps
it all.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Dante dol Pepper, No, that's not it.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
I guess so Dull Pepper Dan Doreno, no, no, not
that many teams. Can't be. It can't be.

Speaker 9 (20:43):
In the nineties.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Uh yeah, I think so.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Okay, yeah, I mean he.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Played a long time. Steve de Berg, No, Steve Deeve
the Bird nineteen Chris Chandler, Chandler going be the Sea
and the Sea, Chris Chandler, he did it for us
six teams. Okay, all right, here's Darius Wrecker, that of the.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Day, That of the day.

Speaker 9 (21:19):
Here comes that of the day, of the day, that
of the day.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Here comes the d brought you by Panini America, the
official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show DJ in Nebraska.
Hi DJ, what's on your mind?

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Hey Dan? Thanks? Hey Dan? Thanks for taking my call?

Speaker 2 (21:40):
All Right?

Speaker 7 (21:41):
I got a uh.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Best of the weekend and worse than a weekend and
a question for Marv that ties into the Warsaw Indiana kicker.
So best of the weekend is my colts went in
and the Gators went in chubytn having one hundred and
seventy two yards rushing and also just seeing Nick Saban
just look miserable on the sidelines. I love it. That's
a Florida fan. Worst of the weekend is Josh Hypel

(22:05):
calling the timeout that's the second left in the Florida
game and that kind of leading into a tussle at
the end of the game. That was pretty dumb. Don't
understand why he did that. But uh, the question I
had from Marvis, so you guys said that kicker was
from Warfaw, Indiana, which Laker player an old Laker player
he's also from or he played basketball Warfaw, Indiana in high.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
School old Laker from Warsaw, Indiana. What like what time
period I screwed that up?

Speaker 4 (22:40):
Would he would have been in high school in the.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Eighties, okay, and he's the Lakers and the yeah, former
Laker and he played in the nineties two thousands, and he.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Want to he want to ring?

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Okay, h Not Mike Schmreck, No, yeah, Paul, Devin George, no,
Marvin you got one?

Speaker 9 (23:16):
Nope, not even closed, Eddie Jones, h Rick.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Fox Okay Fox, that's right from indianaj alright, DJ. I
think a couple of the plumbs are from that area,
from Indiana, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
Warsaw area.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Only a couple of them though, Yeah, there's a box.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Rest of them are from somewhere, but they didn't play
for the Lakers. No, thank you, DJ. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (23:44):
When I think of Indiana, I think of Rick Fox.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Indian Yeah, I think.

Speaker 11 (23:49):
Of Eliza Douku. What what if Rick Fox's ex girlfriends Eliza.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Douchku, but she's not from Indiana.

Speaker 11 (23:57):
It's not what I think of Rick Fox. That's what
I think.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Ben.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
We're I like a better when you're not listening.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Eleven Todd important no relation Todd
in Portland.

Speaker 18 (24:13):
Hey guys, good morning morning, first time, long time, five
eleven alive, one seventy so best and worst.

Speaker 16 (24:24):
Best of the weekend.

Speaker 18 (24:25):
I won all my UFC bets except for the main event,
which was a draw and pushed and work for the weekend.
Todd's Broncos killing my parlay, but at least they made
it interesting, so thanks for that.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
No, thank you Todd. By the way, Dylan the graphics
guy nailed his fourteen parlay. Yeah, yeah, everybody fading Dylan
because he had lost the two previous weeks with three
team parlay or three leg parlay. He had a four
team parlay and he was going with a bird theme.

(25:01):
He had Falcons and the Seahawks and the Ravens, the Cardinals,
and he ended up winning his Draft Kings four team parlay.
And just like that, he's like four and six. Yeah,
just like that, he was oh and six. Now he
goes to four and six. Oh yeah, he had a
good week. Yeah.

Speaker 16 (25:21):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
George in Cincinnati, Hi, George.

Speaker 16 (25:25):
B d p uh.

Speaker 19 (25:26):
I just my best of the weekend was the book
signing in Cincinnati.

Speaker 8 (25:30):
You were great.

Speaker 19 (25:31):
Spent plenty of time with the fans, answered questions, signed books.
I had two books to sign. You signed one for
my son Mark, you signed one for me. Uh my
worst of the weekend. I get home, I opened a
book and it's uh Greg Happy Sevy. It's Dan Patrick
named George. But I appreciate it either way.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
I've got a collector.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
I was close. That's awesome. Oh my god, Greg, Greg,
Uh yeah, Hey, happy seventieth George. My name is Gregorge.
My name is George.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
You're really close.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Got first letter, you know. There You're always talking, so
there's like two or three things going on at the
same time, and like you're gonna take a picture, You're
gonna talk to somebody, and then you're gonna sign the autograph.
There was another one. I a friend of mine, his
son came and I signed the autograph, although I just said,

(26:34):
you know, to whatever, all the best, and then I
didn't sign my name.

Speaker 20 (26:38):
No.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Yeah. So he said, hey, could I could I get
you to autograph my book? And I go I did.
He goes, yeah, but you didn't put your name down detailed.
Come on people, Greg, George whatever, Yeah, whatever, that's close.
That's close. The NFL, I think, reacted to the opening

(27:02):
night that Thursday night with the Kansas City Chiefs and
the Lions, and the right tackle for the Chiefs who
was lining up in the backfield, and they weren't calling it,
And to me, it was egregious, and it was a
standalone game, and it felt like the NFL was cracking
down on these offensive linemen who are trying to get
it an unfair advantage by being able to line up

(27:24):
a little deeper in the backfield. Therefore, that coming edge rusher,
you know, you're you're going to have a little bit
more of an advantage against them.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
Yeah, pul, Why doesn't the NFL just have everyone on
the offense who's on the line exactly where the center
is and make it even the defensive line. You know
that it's such a such a huge advantage. We've taken
it for granted.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Well, that's it. They want to give offenses even more
of an advantage. They whatever, you know, edge the defense has,
they want to take away that. They want points, they
don't want the quarterback getting hit. We want to help
these offensive linemen. And I don't know if the offensive
linemen have evolved the way these edge rushers have. I mean,
these are athletes on the edge man and those aren't

(28:08):
great athletes that tackle. It feels like, yeah, I'm mark.

Speaker 9 (28:13):
Yesterday was unfair. Michael Parsons versus Dwayne Brown.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
Dwayne Brown is how old is?

Speaker 9 (28:19):
He's as old as ion. He's maybe thirty eighth. Legit,
he's thirty eight or thirty nine.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Yeah, I thought he was like forty one.

Speaker 9 (28:26):
But tomato, tomato, Yeah, yeah, Paul.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
It's so funny because Parsons stands next to these guys
and he I don't know how tall he is about,
but he's not even six one.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
I think he's around six sixty one. Yeah, yeah, maybe.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
He looks medium sized compared to some of the guys.
Remember Clay Matthews, who was a rush my backer. He's
not even close to his size, I don't think.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Yeah, but Aaron Donald is not tall.

Speaker 6 (28:45):
It's wild though that you almost want to be shorter
with leverage and like the bend and that stuff they
talk about.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Yeah I got a great bend, Dan, Yeah, I got it.
Aaron Donald I think six feet tall. But Michael Parsons, man,
that's a that's a whole to deal with there, and
that's a good defense and you've got a good defensive
coordinator there. Now, you're asking. This is one of those
if you're a Cowboys fan, are you going something's gonna happen?

(29:11):
Everything's going great? What's gonna happen here?

Speaker 6 (29:14):
Yeah, if you want to look at something fun, look
back at draft grades. When the Cowboys took Michael Parsons,
Why are they taking another middle linebacker? Aren't they vander
ash et cetera, Seawan Lee and those guys. This doesn't
redond a position. What are they gonna do with them?
And there was no discussion of him being a rush end,
an edge rusher.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
I always I don't name him. He's been a source
for a long long time, but he's so good. You know.
He's the one that said Zay Flowers is you know
somebody's getting an All Pro. He's the one who said,
let's see uh Chase with the Bengals best wide receiver
when he was coming out not even close the offensive

(29:52):
lineman with the Colts. Who's the guard? Quentin Nelson said,
he's the best player in the draft. You say you're
gonna be a Hall of Famer. And then he's the
one who said to me and I came in prior
to that draft. Might have been that night of the
draft or might have been that Friday, and he said

(30:13):
that Michael Parsons is the best player in the draft.
The question is people will go where do you place him?
And my source said, he's just a football player, that's all.
He said. He's like Troy Polamalo from the standpoint of
don't get Junior Saal was also a name that he
mentioned because he said he's positionless. That's the beauty of him.

(30:34):
You know you're not going to find him right there
every single time. And Michael Parsons has been even greater
than that. Uh Steve in Oregon, Hi, Steve, what's on
your mind? Hey?

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Doing Dan?

Speaker 10 (30:45):
Six foot one three?

Speaker 15 (30:48):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (30:49):
Best of the weekend as I got to go up
in person and see my Dodgers complete the tennis sweep
of the Mariners six two six two sixty one. And unfortunately,
since the worst is that they since they completed the
division title on Saturdayay Sat Muncie, Freeman and Betts yesterday,
so didn't get to see them play in person.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
No, I don't think you can complain too much. You're
Dodger fan.

Speaker 6 (31:15):
Yes, Well, the Dodgers have outscored their opponents by one
hundred and eighty five runs this year. Only one better
is the Atlanta Braves have outscored their opponents by two nineteen.
In the al Tampa Bay Rays, who were actually in
second behind the Baltimore Oriols, they've outscored their opponents by
one ninety six.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Greg and Cincinnati, Hi, Greg, what's on your mind?

Speaker 20 (31:33):
Thanks for taking my call, Bud. I just want to
thank you. I wasn't at the book signing, but my
buddy Matt and Cincinnati was kind enough to have it
signed for me, so I don't know if George's previous
caller was confused, but I am Greg, and I want
to thank you so much for signing my book. I
appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Buys all right, You're welcome Matt and Cincinnati. He's a
caller to the show and a very funny guy. So
great turnout. Once again, thank you for those who came out.
Terry in South Carolina, Hi, Terry.

Speaker 8 (32:06):
Hey, listen my best in the work of the weekend
Dallas one yesterday. It's a good but five freaking kill goes.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
It's the worst, Okay.

Speaker 8 (32:18):
I wish they would learned to score more.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
I think I would be satisfied if you didn't have
any turnovers, but thank you, Terry. Play good defense, run
the football, don't have any turnovers. That's a pretty good
formula for success. Oh here's Matt and Cincinnati.

Speaker 7 (32:35):
I Matt, hey, boss, thanks for taking my call. Best
and worst real quick Bearcats the Bengals not looking so good.
But no, the best was absolutely meeting you, getting the
books hind You were great with the people. You're a
man of the people, boss, looking up.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Thank you, Matt. Great to meet you. Thanks for coming out.

Speaker 6 (33:00):
Uh got a question, did anyone like come back and
surprise you?

Speaker 2 (33:03):
In line?

Speaker 5 (33:03):
We were like Steve from high school? Do you have
one of those?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
There were a couple of guys I went to high
school with who were there. That surprised me. My brother,
one of my brothers flew in from North Dakota. Surprised me.
But yeah, it was good. It was nice. You know,
some some interesting conversations that I had. I was there, Yes, mar.

Speaker 9 (33:25):
Was there any mention of you know who during the
books arn't?

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Yes, No, yes there was. People wanted to know if
Jenny Batchie was there, and I said, no, no she's not.
She didn't show up, but she's in Northern Ohio. Read
she didn't like to read, didn't like to read loves
you No, no, no, she read the room. That's why
she's not married to me. Oh no, yeah, she didn't

(33:49):
read books, but she read the room like I'm not
going to marry that guy. Yeah, although somebody did. I
sent you guys the picture. Somebody show somebody sent me
the picture. Brought the picture to the book signing. Jenny
Batchie and Jake Keffley at prom and I was like,
damn that it's too soon, too soon, Yeah, too soon.

(34:13):
And Jake Keffley has got this big smile on his face.
Jenny Batchie has a big smile on her face. Yeah,
Jake's got a look dad, Well, he's a football player.
Played at Ohio University.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Really yeah, not the Ohio.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
University, the the the High Ohio University and his brother
played there too. Yeah, you know, he had big smile
on his face. Jenny. I think Jenny was smiling through
the pain of she had to go with Jake Keffley.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
What looked like it looked like she was having a
pretty good time.

Speaker 5 (34:44):
Gotta admit, probably a Limo Kafley roll big I heard.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Yeah, yeah, all that money he got went for playing football.
At Oh, you probably spent it on limousine. Yeah, yeah, carefully,
I'm over it. I'm over it. So she all right,

any surprises tonight? Saints against the Panthers. Saints minus three,
Brown's minus two versus this Steeler. So you got two
home underdogs? Is that right?

Speaker 6 (37:51):
Yeah, PAULI both games have over unders under forty points.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
I've got thirty eight Brown Steelers thirty nine and a
half Saints Panthers is the Saints Panthers in Carolina, Twys.
I'm going both home dogs tonight. That used to be
a recipe, not disaster. But I home dog Monday Night.
I usually did pretty well. I don't know what the

(38:17):
odds are anymore. Yes, se home dog, Yeah, home dog
Monday night? Yeah? Sure? Why not for entertainment purposes only?
Travis and Florida. Good morning, Travis, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 17 (38:32):
Good morning and first time long time five eleven Flusky.
So I got my best and worst of the weekend.
The best is my Florida Gators.

Speaker 22 (38:47):
Winning on the at home and getting back into the
top twenty five. The worst of the weekend is it
looks like the Cowboys are back like they and saying
for about twenty years.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
So okay, well, thank you, Travis. I'm sorry that's the
worst for you. It's early and then they got Arizona
coming up, so they're gonna be three and oh this
day in sports history? Have that for you coming up?
Ken in Texas? Hi, Ken, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 23 (39:21):
Hey, Dank you hear me?

Speaker 20 (39:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (39:22):
I can Ken?

Speaker 8 (39:26):
Hey Ken, Hey Dan, can you hear me?

Speaker 20 (39:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (39:30):
I still can Ken?

Speaker 23 (39:32):
All right, Sorry, I was trying to turn my radio
down there. Hey, I got your book and I was
wondering if I sent it to you. I'm Ken in Texas, right,
But if I send it to you, could you sign
it and say something like hey buddy Kevin and Tennessee
and then maybe sign it Dave Patrick or something.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
I'd be more than happy to But if you do
send your book. Make sure you have self addressed, like
you have to have the envelope and the postage there.
And if you do that then I'll be more happy
to sign it. I just don't want to have books.
And then all of a sudden, you know, I'm sending
Dylan to the post office and spending money to send
it back. But if you do it, take care of

(40:11):
all that, I'd be more than happy to sign it
to the wrong person and sign my wrong name on there.
This stay in sports history, Paul.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
Just a couple.

Speaker 6 (40:18):
Nineteen fifteen, the first asphalt covered racetrack was opened in Cranston,
Rhode Island. And here's one. Nineteen sixty two, Charlie Finley
the owner of the A's, which started as the Philadelphia A's.
They were moved to Kansas City, I think in fifty
and fifty five. Baby, he was denied permission to move
the A's to Dallas Fourth Worth. They were going to
move in nineteen sixty two to Dallas Fort Worth denied,

(40:40):
and then he moved about six years later to Oakland
and now they're off to Vegas.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
On this date, in nineteen ninety six, Roger Clemens equals
his own baseball record for strikeouts in a nine inning game.
He struck out twenty and it went against the Tigers.
Nineteen ninety four, Ken Burns Award winning documentary series Baseball
premiers on PBS. That's when he added color to some
of those. And I had a lot of spring training

(41:06):
games and workouts and as well, whatever ken Burns done's
musically pretty spectacular. Chris in Florida, Hi Chris, what do
you have for me? Hey?

Speaker 16 (41:17):
Dan, thanks for taking my call. I love the show
first time six or work in Progress two thirty.

Speaker 17 (41:25):
I got a.

Speaker 16 (41:26):
Best best, don't really have a worst, and I had
a even right joke for you if that's okay, sure,
And the best best would be Tampa Bay the Bucks
going to two and zero, behind that Mike Evans going
off and also Shaq Barrett given the dedicating me pick
six that he had to his daughter. And the joke

(41:49):
the Stephen Wright that I had was when I was
growing up, there was this pizza shop in town that
only served slices. You could walk by the window and
see the guy throwing up the triangle.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
O that.

Speaker 24 (42:09):
Yes, he also had one where he goes to the
convenience store and he's like trying to get in, but
the door is locked and he's knocking on the door
and he says to the guy, can you let me in?
He goes, we're closed, He goes, you're clothes, says open
twenty four hours.

Speaker 11 (42:19):
And the guy said, not in a row.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
You don't hear about Stephen Wright much anymore, that guy think,
I don't know. Does he tour?

Speaker 11 (42:32):
I don't think so. It's kind of faded out of
a wh am.

Speaker 5 (42:36):
I sixty seven years old.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
Yeah, that's way too early, unless there's health issues there.
We'll make some calls. Yeah, maybe Stephen Wright would join us.

Speaker 11 (42:47):
I'd love to come on.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Thanks time.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
He's a musicians, recorded several non comedy songs with his friends.

Speaker 2 (42:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
Okay, he's got an interesting painting apparently.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
Nice nice Stephen man of many talents. Yeah, all right.
Final results of the pole questions see uh yeah, man,
which to and o AFC team? Do you believe in more?

Speaker 3 (43:10):
Right now?

Speaker 2 (43:11):
Seventy four percent believe.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
In the Dolphins more than the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Okay, that's interesting, it's fine, that's fine. I think John
Harbow would get more skew the pole question a little
more than that, but maybe not. Who is it better
than we do? Nope, No, love the Dolphins. The Dolphins
go around the room. What we learned on the program, Todd,
would you learn today?

Speaker 11 (43:29):
This made me smile. Earlier in Cincinnati had your book signing.
At least one fan said thank God for Marvin.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
Yes he did, That's all. That's all he said. Instead, Hey,
I don't need anything signed, just thank God for Marvin.
Go okay. Seven O'Connor Cincinnati went well, yeah did Yeah?
I did? Yeah? Yeah, Mark, it's Greg now, George, yes, yeah, sorry,
made a mistake. I have close Paulie.

Speaker 5 (43:52):
Todd is the favorite kid in this family.
