Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, it's a Friday. It's a meat Friday. Case you're wondering.
We're celebrating the return of Paulie out for a couple
of days, had an eye issue, and of course, being
as sensitive as we always are, it's a meat Friday.
We're having rib eyes and we're having black eyed peas,
also sweet potato fries. Who has it better than we do? Nobody,
(00:26):
and we're down a dan at Fritzy has left the
building for the weekend, and we'll try to make up
for his loss. Somebody else will have to be the
minister of humor in the final sixty minutes. Oh, Marv,
is that you're going to nominate yourself?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
No? No, no, no, this is pretty serious. Hey, we're doing
a movie later on.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
You know what. We're going to watch The blind Side,
Close Eyes, White Shut Ooh okay, all right, yeoll let's
get the fellas together watch I watch Shut?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, hood dude, we could all sit around here on
the couch back there. We got the big screen cruising kidman,
what I.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Think we uh, we need to pick another movie, just
saying I don't know if you've watched Eyes Wide. Any
of those masks laying around anybody want to be naked
and with a mask on?
Speaker 3 (01:16):
I mean, we don't have to be. Oh do you
have to be to watch it?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Well? Have you seen the movie?
Speaker 3 (01:22):
I have?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
You have?
Speaker 5 (01:24):
I have?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Oh? You and Goo and the rest of the fellas
went out and yeah, clut screening and all.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Those guys know we did not watch Eyes watch Shut.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Together, Kuki and Ray Ray and Lucretia. I mean good, yeah, yeah,
I'm not here to cheer you. I'm here to boo yah.
Stat of the Day, Ron Jibaianini America. The official trading
cards of this program. Don't be fooled by unofficial trading
cards of this program. Foliage Flannels available in store at
(01:59):
dan patrick dot com. So final hour of this program.
Oh also Sunday Night, not ever, the Colts head to
Minnesota the ultimate test against Justin Jefferson and the Vikings
Sunday seven Eastern on NBC and pick Peacock. Uh, Anthony
Richardson picked the wrong time to get benched. You could
(02:21):
have Sunday Night. America gets to see the talent that
is Anthony Richardson. I have to believe the Vikings are
going thank god that you know. Oh no, they're probably saying,
oh my god, we have to face Joe Flacco instead
of you know, I wish we could have faced Anthony
(02:41):
Richardson instead. You get Flacco. You kind of know what
you're getting, but he keeps you in a game where
Anthony Richardson. Uh, let him sit for a little while,
let him learn a little bit here. All right, final
hour poll question, what do we have Seaton, Well, we
put up there most impressive catch of all time. Your
(03:04):
options are Odell Beckham, Junior, Garrett Wilson, Julian Edelman, or
David Tyree. So we're not putting frank O Harris in there.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
No, because if we're just gonna say impressive and we
have room for four, we just tried to keep it
a little more modern, not like important, not impactful, not okay, okay.
Right now, David Tyree has forty three percent of the vote,
followed by Odell Beckham Junior. Garrett Wilson and Julian Edelman
(03:34):
are tied for third.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, you have to go out of your way to
go back to see what Julian Edelman did in his catch,
either against Atlanta or against Seattle. But you're talking about impact.
David Tyree's led to a Super Bowl touchdown pass and
it also is the biggest reason why Eli Manning's going
into the Hall of Fame because he's got two Super
Bowl trophies and he beat the Patriots both times with one.
(03:58):
I don't think he gets in, but that's why the
most impactful catch led to a Super Bowl and it's
going to lead to a Hall of Fame bust as well.
All Right, eight seven seven three DP show operator Tyler
sitting by. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank
you for downloading the app. Dylan is going to join
us his football picks. We also have more of the
(04:20):
in or out and the most must win game of
the weekend. Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback, will stop
by get his thoughts on how important these games are
this weekend and which teams might be vulnerable to being
sellers depending on if they win or lose this weekend.
So we'll talk to him about that. Meanwhile, everything's fine
(04:42):
with the Jets. Everybody looks good. Here's Aaron Rodgers after
the win against the Texans last night.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Kind of season on the line there in second half
Obviously we wouldn't have been mathematically eliminated, but mentally to
go to two and seven would have been real tough.
Hopefully it's this confidence and that it can be anybody
because we feel like we could.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yes, yes, that's the way it should have been. The
previous eight games. You should have been winning some of
those games. But last night look good. The Texans offensive
line is not good at all, and that will spell
death for this team later in the season. I think,
you know, you can get players back, and you can
(05:25):
get Nico Collins back, you can you know, you know
you're gonna have Tank Dell. You're gonna get your guys
back eventually. Like the Cowboys are going to be better
the second half of the season because they're going to
get their defensive players back, and you know, you get
Bland back and you get Michael Parsons Dexter Lawrence, so
(05:45):
now you get your defense back. Is the offense going
to be good? They're the worst running team, but they're
like they're playing the Falcons this weekend, and I think
a lot of people are taking the Falcons in this game,
which I guess because they're at home, but you know
they're favored by three. So if Dallas was playing at
(06:09):
Dallas against the Falcons, they'd be favored by three. This
is one of those where they're just games where you go,
I don't know, and this is one of those where
and look, Dallas don't ever everybody back, but they're not
that far out of it. And you know, if you're
all in on the Commanders, the Eagles to me are
the team to keep an eye on because the talent
(06:32):
is there. The issue has always been that head coach
and his relationship with his quarterback. But you know, the
Eagles play the Jag The Jags maybe are going to
do something right one of these days. Maybe like some
of these teams you go, you can't beat, like the
Browns where I said last week they're going to win
a game they're not supposed to win. That might have
(06:52):
been last week against the Ravens and they could have
easily lost that game. But they're just matchups on who
you play previously and how that affects your team when
you're going to play the next week, and you go,
how did that happen? If you're going to try to
single out how did that happen? You know, Dolphins against
(07:12):
the Bills Cowboys, Falcons like the Chargers against the Browns.
Chargers are favored by one and a half. I have
no idea what to expect from them. Let me see,
there's a lot of seven eight point margins. Bears getting
one and a half against the Cardinals, the Lions minus
(07:35):
two and a half against the Packers, Rams minus one
against Seahawks. Like, there's a couple of games where you go,
I wouldn't be surprised. It's kind of that type of weekend. Yeah, Pauling,
I was just.
Speaker 7 (07:46):
Going through the schedule when you were and I noticed
the Browns are five and the Broncos are five and three.
That's the quiett five and three in football. Nobody's covering them.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
And bo Nick's got what the Month of Otto, Rookie
of the Year, rook of the Month, the month something
or the ROTM. But he has played well, Like if
you look at I think he's got seven touchdowns, one interception,
he's rushed for two touchdowns, and you know they're in
playoff contention. Bnix has quietly been good. I don't know
(08:19):
if he's a franchise quarterback. I don't know if he's
going to be great. Quietly been good. And that's what
you want now. I know Jayden Daniels, it feels like
everybody's on that bandwagon. I wouldn't I understand the value
part of it. I don't know if the numbers are great.
It's like, Mahomes to me, shouldn't be a leading candidate
for MVP. Have the guys who have actually produced. You know,
(08:42):
Mahomes is better than every other quarterback, That just doesn't
mean he's the MVP candidate. His stats are just average.
Jared Goff has played well, Lamar Jackson's played well. Now
if you make that argument, yeah, but Mahomes is better
than them, yes, but who is playing better now? And
that's where you have to lead. Be fair to the
candidates here, and we rarely are. It's just like, uh,
(09:04):
you know that guy's better, so he'll be the MVP candidate.
Josh Allen, to me, is the leading candidate for MV pick.
All right, let's continue with in or out and then
Dylan will have his football picks for the weekend.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
Quickly, Dan, let's get to it. In or out. I
like going to championship parades.
Speaker 8 (09:21):
I'm out, Seaton, I'm I'm in wait wait if I'm
what was the question again.
Speaker 7 (09:32):
I like going to championship parades.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yeah, sure, you're not all that. I would go, okay, Marvin,
I mean yeah, I just I don't want to deal
with the crown you got the Dodgers parade. I'd rather
just go to Chavez Ravine and just sit there when
they all come in. I mean, Marvin, you've been to
two you're husky.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Been to a couple? Yeah, probably another one.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Yeah, things get out of hand and stores Connecticut.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
It's actually in Hartford.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Oh oh, it's a whole different vibe. What else do
we have in or out?
Speaker 7 (10:03):
Penn State will beat Ohio State this weekend.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
I'm going to be out until I see it happen.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
Then it'd be too late for the game.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
For the next time. Got it. Then I'd be in.
But I'm out because I haven't seen it. Marvin, are
you in or out?
Speaker 3 (10:21):
I'm out?
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Setan are you in around in? Oh? Okay? James Franklin, Okay,
two more.
Speaker 7 (10:30):
I would take Josh Allen over the field for NFL MVP.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Right now, I'm in. I'm out, I mean okay. Last one.
Speaker 7 (10:39):
This is more of a lifestyle.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
In or out.
Speaker 7 (10:41):
Freshman year of high school is the last year. You
can go trick or treating in out or other answer.
If you have another.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Answer, No, I think it's got to be in around.
Speaker 7 (10:53):
Okay, let's be true, Setan.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
I'm very out on that, Arvid.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
I'm myll I went trick to treating yesterday.
Speaker 7 (11:03):
But you're with a kid.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
You use the kid as a prop correct the the
adult bag with child has become a popular accessory.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yeah, or you get the pillow case.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, I'm out on that.
Speaker 7 (11:18):
I think I'm I think I'm in because when you're
a freshman, you don't have a car, you're kind of
still holding onto being a kid.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
It's I've really come around to the idea of there
are way worse things you could be doing as a
teenager than still trick or treating. True, there are way
worse things you could be out doing. I've I've really
come around hard on that. So if you want to
have a mustache and you're like, hey, how you doing,
(11:48):
and you're still dressed up as beetlejuice, Hell yeah, dude,
I got candy for you all day.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Let's bring in Dylan Dylan Dylan the graphics Guy, part
of the Gambling podcast that is available. Dan Patrick dot Com,
Shane Irving, Bad Larry, and Dylan the Graphics Guy. Yes, Martin,
do you think Dylan with trick or treating last night?
I think he would go trick or treating. I think
he would probably have a gummy and then walk around
the neighborhood with him and his girlfriend. Did you go
(12:14):
trick or treating last night?
Speaker 9 (12:17):
I did not, Dan, but I did get one trick
or treater at my apartment soul one.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, but it's you're on the ninth floor though, Like
you know, first, how are they finding coming all the
way up just to see what you're giving out?
Speaker 10 (12:31):
Boy?
Speaker 9 (12:32):
I had to put like a little sign on the
door that said like we're welcoming trick or treaters and
then got one. So now I just have a bunch
of surplus candy on top of all the candy.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Why did you bring it in? No, that would have
been nice Monday. Okay, lest I eat it all?
Speaker 5 (12:48):
All right?
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Here we go Gambling tips from Dylan the Graphics Guy.
Speaker 9 (12:52):
All right, Dan, tips is a strong word. But uh,
Ohio state minus the three and a half?
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Okay, you're in on Ohio State.
Speaker 11 (13:00):
Yeah, I think they destroy them.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Actually destroy is the word that you in Happy Valley
at noon, not so happy, not so Happy Valley.
Speaker 9 (13:08):
Penn State is losing and then this one, This game
is hilarious to me. But Maine plus thirty four and
a half against Oklahoma. You're taking Maine taking Maine with
the thirty four and a half? Wow, the black Bear Norman.
This it sounds like a made up game.
Speaker 12 (13:25):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
I saw it was Maine versus Oh you and I go, oh,
Ohio University and then it was like, no Oklahoma. I went, Wow,
you think how was the thing they got paid to
h I'm gonna guess a million? Yeah, yeah, what else.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
Do you have?
Speaker 9 (13:43):
Well, it's gonna not be worth it when Maine wins
out right.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
And I got money line, they.
Speaker 11 (13:49):
Don't even have the money line.
Speaker 9 (13:51):
Louisville and Clemson over sixty three and a half Saturday night.
Speaker 11 (13:55):
Clemson's offense is ripping.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
How much is Maine getting to play Oklahoma closest to
the hall. I'm gonna say one point two million.
Speaker 7 (14:02):
It's actually really low. It's six hundred and thirty five thousand.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
But if I double that, then how much is it?
It's right around one point two.
Speaker 7 (14:10):
That'd be one million, two and seventy thousand.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Yeah, that's it's barely going to cover expensive exactly. That'll
barely cover airfare. All right, what else do you have, Dylan?
Speaker 9 (14:21):
So that's it for college and then NFL Ravens minus
eight and a half against those Broncos ooh, that Broncos defense. Okay,
and I'm taking the Cardinals minus the one and a
half against the Bears. I think the Bears are still
reeling from that performance last week.
Speaker 11 (14:38):
Okay, and just been for transparency last night.
Speaker 9 (14:42):
I did have the Texans alternate minus seven that did
not hp ouch.
Speaker 11 (14:47):
Yeah, yeah, I misread that one.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Yeah you do. Well, that's it.
Speaker 11 (14:51):
Those are my.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Debts, thank you. That's Dylan the graphics guy part of
the get.
Speaker 13 (14:58):
Not a.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I don't think that was a round of applause. It's matter, yeah,
light dusting of applause, Yeah, like a not even in unison, Yes, Marv.
And he didn't even win the Diego Pavilla Award. Uh no,
bad Larry did for bad bets. So we give out
the Diego pavia Bet, named after the Vanderbilt quarterback, to
(15:20):
anybody to the worst gambler each week. Dylan's won it.
Four times so far.
Speaker 11 (15:24):
A had four straight.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Yes, you did reverse bills. Yeah, how about we take
a break here and we'll try to get to your
phone calls. Albert Breer the Monday Morning Quarterback, Who's buying?
Who's selling? At the trade deadline? We're back after this.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio

Speaker 2 (15:52):
PAULI, of course had the traumatic I procedure, and he
is back today with a patch on if you're watching
on peacock, it's a plaid patch that he has hashtag warrior.
Thank you eight seven seven three DP shaw email address,
Dpadanpatrick dot com, Twitter, HANDLYDP show Sunday Night Colts Vikings
(16:13):
seven Eastern on NBC and Peconck Albert Breer, the Monday
Morning Quarterback. Too little, too late for the Jets.
Speaker 14 (16:24):
Well, I mean, I think their schedule is manageable from
here on out, Dan, I think it does set up
sort of a pivotal one, you know, next week in Arizona.
You know, we've heard a lot about how challenging their
schedule is. And two Thursday night games, two Monday night games.
The travel, you know, having a West coast trip to
(16:44):
then going to Tennessee, then playing Thursday night on the
front end of the schedule, going to London.
Speaker 12 (16:49):
It's been a lot on them. And now they get ten.
Speaker 14 (16:52):
Days of runway into another West coast trip, and yeah, I.
Speaker 12 (16:57):
Mean I think if you can get this one, you know.
Speaker 14 (16:59):
Then and then now all of a sudden you're within
a game of getting to five and six, and then
you get your buy and a chance to reset. You know,
to me, the most encouraging thing about last night is,
you know, like they it was a tenuous week in
that building. It was an uncomfortable week in that building.
A lot of people felt like they were walking around
on eggshells. A lot of like same old Jets vibes
(17:20):
in that building. And you know, over the course of
the first half it sort of looked like all of
that manifested. And somehow they were able to put their
foot in the ground at halftime and just go and
in a lot of ways become the team we thought
they were going to be coming into the year, right,
So it's it's Aaron Rodgers making throws down the field
(17:42):
to to Garrett Wilson and DeVante Adams. It's brace Hall
running the ball effectively, and it's the defensive line dominating,
you know, sacking CJ. Stroud eight times. So, you know,
I don't know if that thirty minutes of football as
an indicator of anything going forward, because the last time
they played on Thursday night they looked great also, you know,
and then they wind up losing five in.
Speaker 12 (18:03):
A row coming out of that.
Speaker 14 (18:05):
But I wouldn't declare them dead yet, you know. I
also think the AFC is probably not as deep as
we once thoughts.
Speaker 12 (18:11):
So maybe nine and eight gets you in the playoffs
this year.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Give me the team if they lose this weekend will
be sellers next week. Any any trade deadline deals hinging
on what happens this weekend in your opinion.
Speaker 14 (18:24):
Yeah, I think that the two that kind of stand
out in my mind at least, well one really stands
out in my mind. I think one would be a seller,
another one might be more of a listener. The seller
would be Cleveland, the listener would be the Rams. You know,
I think the Browns are right now in a spot
(18:44):
where it's like, okay, we're three and six, you know,
A lot of where we thought we were going is
out the window. But if Jamis plays really well again
and they get to four wins, now, I mean you
can at least compete and again, like you know, if
the point of entry for the playoffs in the AFC
nine wins, hey, you know, if they can play like
they did around Joe Flacco last year around Jamis Winston,
(19:06):
maybe that's attainable for them. Whereas if they're three and seven,
now you're talking about something else. And I don't think
they're gonna trade Miles Garrett, but those calls will certainly come.
And you know, I think as far as like guys
who are more realistic targets, I certainly think Zadarius Smith and.
Speaker 12 (19:24):
And Greg Newsom would be there for the taking. As for.
Speaker 14 (19:28):
As for the Rams, you know, they were in a
weird spot going into going into their win last week
against Minnesota where calls had come on, calls had come
on Cooper Cup, and so they were you know, intently
listening on, you know, on on on on offers for
Cooper Cup. But they told other teams, is it will
cost you more to get Cooper Cup out of LA
(19:51):
than it cost the Jets to get DeVante Adams out
of Vegas. That was a third rounder that could become
a second. So I don't know if anybody's want to
pay that price for Cooper Cup, but I think you
know whether or not the Rams would accept such a deal,
especially after Pook and the Pooh got got got banged
up in practice this week again, might hinge on on
on how the game against Seattle goes on Sunday?
Speaker 2 (20:13):
What should the Lions do?
Speaker 12 (20:15):
The lines should make calls on pass rushers.
Speaker 14 (20:18):
The Lions should call, you know, the Raiders about Max
Crosby and the Browns about about the Brown's about uh
Miles Garrett.
Speaker 12 (20:28):
But they should also make.
Speaker 14 (20:29):
Calls in the second level of the pass rusher market,
you know, because I don't think Crosby and Garrett are
ultimately gonna move. Doesn't hurt to ask, So, you know, again,
like a Zadarius Smith in Cleveland, the Jadebian Clowney with
the Panthers, you know, I think they just need to
get another pass rusher in there.
Speaker 12 (20:46):
The cool thing about it is, I think Aiden Hutchinson
coming back for the Super Bowl is realistic. You know,
you'd never consider a circumstance like him.
Speaker 14 (20:55):
His good luck that was a nasty broken leg the
way that it looked, but the reality of the situation
is he got a lot of He got pretty fortunate
in a lot of different ways. No ligament damage, no
arguery damage, no nerve damage. It just so happened that,
you know, where the injury happened was ten minutes away
from one of the you know, from a Level one
trauma center on one of the best hospitals you know
(21:18):
in the country, and one of the best surgeons that
did doing this particular procedure was there and mess doctor
Alan Jones, and Aidan was in surgery less than three
hours after he went down. So it's just about every way.
After the injury, Hutchinson has really kind of been in
a good place. So the idea that he could play
(21:39):
for the Super Bowl is very real. So if you
can bring in a pass rusher that can just add something,
you know, like a Zadaria Smith, like a you know,
like a like a Gdvian Clowney, you know, and then
find a way to get through the NFC bracket.
Speaker 12 (21:52):
Now you're bringing Aiden Hutchinson back for the Super Bowl.
That could be a pretty cool thing to watch. And
I love where they're at as a team.
Speaker 14 (21:58):
You know, I thought that I think the the most
interesting stat of the entire year might be that at
one point in that game against the Titans, And I
know it's the Titans, Dan, but at one point that game,
they had nine passing yards and nine net passing yards and.
Speaker 12 (22:12):
Forty two points.
Speaker 14 (22:13):
Like, I think it just sort of speaks to how
complete the team is like to be able to do that,
like through special teams, their defense they're playing field position
is just incredible.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
And that's with a.
Speaker 12 (22:23):
Quarterback you know who I think is playing at an MVP.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Level, Albert Brier, the Monday Morning Quarterback MMQB dot Com.
If or when the Dolphins get eliminated, do you continue
to play Tua? Yeah?
Speaker 14 (22:38):
I mean I think you have to listen to the
doctors and listen to Tua himself. And you know, I'm
always uneasy, you know, Dan, about about football people making
medical decisions. You know, So there is that thing in
the back of your head that each of these guys
only has so many hits right like that they can
take and there's a clock on everybody's body.
Speaker 12 (23:00):
I think that's true.
Speaker 14 (23:02):
But you know, I I also think, like you know,
you have to try to get the best effort out
of everybody in the locker room. And if you're shutting
down one guy, you're shutting down the quarterback to the
detriment of other people in the locker room. That's a
really tough place to be. I also think too too
is going to want to play. I think, you know,
that definant press conference he had before they played the
(23:23):
Cardinals last week, I think sort of illustrates that. And
and you know, like it's his decision, yeah, I think.
And I think everybody's heart's in the right place in this,
but I think we're all sort of playing mom and
dad to some degree with it.
Speaker 12 (23:35):
You know, the reality is he's an adult.
Speaker 14 (23:38):
He has a lot more information today than a player
like him would have had in the nineties on the
consequences of going out there and playing. He's choosing to
go out there, you know. And you know, do I
have a level of concern for a player doing that, Yeah,
of course I do. You know, I'm human like everybody else,
like I. I you know, I you know, I don't
want to see, you know, the worst case scenario play
(24:00):
out here. But ultimately, it is his body and his decision,
and you know, you just hope that he's doing what's
best not only for him but for his family too.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I think we've discussed this. If I was the Bears,
I wouldn't have brought back Matt Eberflus make him a
lame duck coach. And you have a rookie quarterback. I
would have either said, let's extend him, let's get some
continuity there, or I wouldn't have brought him back. You
have this devastating loss that they just suffered, and I mean,
(24:30):
I don't know if the seat gets hotter. I think
you brought up Ben Johnson, the Lions offensive coordinator. He's
going to be the object of desire probably in Dallas,
in Jacksonville, if Chicago opens up kind of handicap that
those situations there and the role that Ben Johnson is
probably going to play in this.
Speaker 14 (24:52):
Yeah, well let's start with what I actually said, because
I think, as you know, the Internet can take something
and run wild with it, and sometimes a lie it's
travels around the world faster than the truth puts on
its pants. Right, So I like, I like what I
what I said, And I was asked by I'm on
this show in Chicago on a Cap and Jay Huad
(25:12):
every week, and so we were discussing, you know, different
things and how the availability of one coach can affect another.
And I said in passing, well, you know I had
heard that the job that Ben Johnson really had his
eye on last year with Chicago. Now, ultimately the Chicago
job didn't come open because Matt Eberflus did a great
job down the stretch of that year.
Speaker 12 (25:33):
At that season.
Speaker 14 (25:34):
So you know, we were I mean that was purely
a hypothetical, you know, in December and January, far from
it actually manifesting. Now, you know, the question is like
where do the Bear stand with Matt Eberflus. I I mean,
he's done a great job on balance and he's built
a really complete team. And I go back to that opener,
you know, like where they were able to win with
(25:56):
Caleb Williams not playing very well, you know, in that
first game, and they they took a block punt back
for a touchdown and they had to pick six in
that game, and they were able to win in every
which way. I think he's built a team that is
capable of winning a lot of different ways. So I
have trouble just killing a guy for a really bad
moment and look like he's accountable for that moment, no question.
(26:18):
But I have I have trouble just throwing the baby
out with the bathwater on this one.
Speaker 12 (26:22):
You know, I think he's done a.
Speaker 14 (26:24):
Good enough job to to certainly create a good environment
for Caleb Williams to grow in and you know, a
good enough job to like, Yeah, have everybody hit the
pause button on this and let's see how the season
plays out. Obviously, the team is a very important juncture
in deciding what's what's best for you know, what looks
(26:45):
like a full fledged franchise quarterback and those big decisions
you know are coming as far as whether you extend
ebraflush to go in another direction. But I think Hebraflus
deserves the rest of the year based on the job
that he's already done.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
There, great to talk to you, is all. Have good weekend.
Thank you, Elbert?
Speaker 12 (27:02):
All right, thanks DP.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
That's Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback senior NFL reporter.
A couple of phone calls in here, how about John
and Missouri? John, thanks for holding what's on your mind today?
Speaker 5 (27:13):
And I'll get your paperwork and I'll bring it to you.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Okay, Hey John, Oh.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Hi Dan, I'm sorry about that. I'm working. But hey cats,
best cats ever?
Speaker 2 (27:25):
John John? What are you doing right now?
Speaker 5 (27:29):
I'm loading a truck with a court list, sir?
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Okay, all right? Just do you need to take care
of that or can you do two things at once? No?
Speaker 5 (27:38):
No, I'm good. I Paul jo Okay, Santonio Holmes in
the Super Bowl against Pittsburgh over three defenders, forty seconds
left down by three got to be the best catch ever.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Well, I think you got to give equal credit to
the throw. Roethlisberger put that in a position he should
have been MVP. Roethlisberger put that ball in a place
where nobody else was going to be able to touch it.
Great catch, great throw, great two minute drill. Joe in Texas,
Hi Joe, what's on your mind?
Speaker 15 (28:12):
Good morning?
Speaker 10 (28:13):
I'm kind of upset with Paula.
Speaker 15 (28:14):
He didn't even think about adding the world famous mister
Troy Paula Malu and all the interceptions teammates. The first
one that came up that it came up on YouTube
was the one against San Diego when he called it
one handed, cradled it, curl it in and ran it back.
Not all the way, but.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
No, no, we were doing best reception, not best interception.
Oh okay, Joe waited for over an hour and then
weighed in on the wrong topic best intersection. The best
(28:52):
interception of all time is Malcolm Butler, just kidding. I
had to do it Mo and Arizona is back with him.
Speaker 10 (29:05):
Than Dan Dennett's Hey, okay, we're gonna start with the
obvious man. It's called the catch for a reason. Not
only was it a great catch, Joe Montana was throwing
the ball out of bounds, but it finally got Niners
over the Dallas Cowboys, which they hadn't done. Kind of
put Joe Montana and started off his legacy and the
Niners legacy. So I mean, that's not it. I don't
(29:26):
know what, but I do have one question for you, Dan,
as far as the Dodgers winning the championship, does that
put Dave Rodgers in the Hall of Fame as a coach?
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Dave Roberts. Yeah, Dave Roberts, you said Rogers, Yeah, I
think with two titles. Now, look, you're gonna have people
who might nitpick and say, well, you know you have
the COVID World Series. Okay, I think you made up
for that by winning this one, and then that shouldn't
(29:55):
be a topic of conversation. Nobody brings up that Karl
Malone won an MVP in a shortened season. I don't
know how many games they played that year. What was
that nineteen eighty seven, Marvin.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
They played fifty in nineteen ninety nine, I think.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
Yeah, like fifty five fifty eight games a year.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Yeah, but nobody ever brings that up, like Malone won,
you know, an MVP in a shortened season.
Speaker 7 (30:17):
Yes, Pauline, I've never understood the criticism of the Dodgers
for the twenty twenty season. Everyone was playing under the
COVID rules. They didn't get any benefit or boost, right,
They actually didn't get to play at home even though
they had the most wins, so their home field advantage
was removed from them.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
What it's like the Lakers in the bubble. What is
the criticis if it's not Lebron, nobody has a problem
with that. If Jimmy Butler wins the title in the bubble,
nobody's going, oh, well, it was a bubble title.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Hey, Lebron, you couldn't even win in the bubble.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Yeah, yeah, Get to like if the Wizards won it
that year, though, I'd be like, Okay, COVID was a
weird year.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Hold up, COVID was weird. That was a weird year.
That's a COVID title. It wasn't that weird that if
every but he got COVID the Wizards.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
Still weren't going to I'd be more surprised by COVID
than the Wizards winning.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Yes, Marvin right.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
And it wasn't like the Lakers were the eight seed
and then once they got into the bubble, Oh, they
just turned it on. They were the ones. They had
the best record in the NBA when everything shut down
in twenty twenty. Yeah, so it wasn't like, oh, they
just came out of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
See and update the poll results. Will take a break.
If you're watching on Peacock, we have the the rib
Eyed Steaks, the black Eyed Peas in honor of Paulie's
bad eye. Any feedback from social media and Paulie's pirate
get up here with his plaid patch on his eye.
We're getting a ton of feedback. Oh we aren't.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Oh yeah yeah, lots of movie suggestions for Paul Oh okay,
possibly Paul's favorite stadium in college football would be LSU.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
They have the big one eye in the middle of
that's steep cut. Damn respect your favorite network, it's CBS
the big eye. Yeah. Maybe the new m v D
trophy is straight out of Lord of the Rings because
like the bad guy is like one big eye of
looking everything. There's a lot going on here. Yes, it's
(32:11):
been active, and I'm not gonna say that PAULI won
Most Valuable like a Dan out of the Year. I'm
not gonna say that, but I did think that when
I saw you this morning. I'm walking in, I go
all right, just got got my attention.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Yes, mor so if I don't win, I'm just gonna
be singing these ah oh kind.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
What you're setting up is now like I'm gonna go
out and deliberately break my leg and be like I'm
just gonna finish out a show. Okay, all right? One
person we know is not gonna win Dan out of
the Year or do he leave? Yeah, Todd's out. Todd
is out. Todd left, and he will be eliminated from
(32:59):
most vague Wow, removed from contention. Yes, I don't know
if the audience realized Todd wasn't here for the final now. Yeah,
but let's take a break. Just like somebody is removed
from like a coaching job, kind of feels like that
I'm re removing my name for that project. I'm gonna
relieve you of your coaching duties. Yes, all right, let
(33:20):
me take a break. Last golf for phone calls? What
we learn? What's in store tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Right after this, be sure to catch the live edition
of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern,
six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAPP.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
All right, he last call for phone calls? What we learn?
What's in store for Monday? Also the most must win
game of the weekend. I'm gonna go around the room.
Did you forget about the mmwg ot W? I hope not?
All right? So this Dane sports history. We have final
(33:57):
results pull question any oh? Is there a pea bomb?
A one eyed pea bomb bomb? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (34:06):
Extra special?
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Yes, do you have a pea bomb? We we've lost
the last two pa bombs after an incredible stretch.
Speaker 7 (34:16):
Yes, we lost a couple of row.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
All right, we're gonna go.
Speaker 7 (34:20):
First off, this is just a good tip Army first
half cover versus Air Force. If the line is thirteen
and a half. Make some money with Army. The pea
bomb of the weekend.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Oh please, here we go bomb.
Speaker 7 (34:34):
It's not a biggie, it's not a biggie, but it's
gonna happen. Illinois is getting three from Minnesota. They're gonna
win outright, Illinois. It's not a huge upset, but they
are underdogs in the game. Illinois to win against Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Okay, a Minnesota team that beat usc yep a couple
of weeks ago. All right, that's the pa bomb. How
a bound the mm W go ot W Seaton. I'll
start with you. I'm gonna say that the Cowboys, no
doubt have a must win game. Cowboys in Atlanta. That
(35:08):
is a must win NFL week Now. MMW got W
Fritzie on the road, he said. Bengals at home against
the Raiders is his most must win game as a
must win game man. Most must win game of the
weekend the Vikings.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
If they want to stay afloat in the NFC North,
they got to beat the Colts at home.
Speaker 7 (35:29):
Okay, Paul, Most must win game of the weekend Old
Miss six and two rank nineteenth at Arkansas. If you lose,
say goodbye to the playoffs. If you win, you're in it.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Ish Okay, the most must win game of the weekend,
I am going to say the Dallas Cowboys as well.
I think getting a quality win I went away from
home beating the Falcons in Atlanta. Nice clean win would
go a long way to kind of revitalizing playoff hopes.
(36:03):
There this day in sports history, Paulie, if you're able
to read it with your one good eyes, wow, uh.
Speaker 7 (36:09):
This is one of my favorites. Nineteen thirteen, Notre Dame
defeated Army thirty five to thirteen. It was the first
time the forward pass was used as an offensive weapon
in football. I just love the idea of the announcers
of the game going, what the.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
What are they doing?
Speaker 7 (36:23):
They're doing he's throwing the ball out. Another one of
my favorites. Nineteen fifty nine, Jacques plant of the Canadians
became the first goalie to wear a mask in the NHL.
Speaker 13 (36:33):
Totally so soft soft, of course, shocks so soft soft
and uh, let's see the twenty ten the San Francisco
Giants won their first World Series since moving to California.
Speaker 7 (36:45):
They beat the Texas Rangers in five games.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Dude, you're wearing a mask. Oh, he's wearing a mask.
Jacques got a mask. Onne Jocks got a mask. Dude,
you're gonna wear a mask and during the game, what
are you crazy embarrassing?
Speaker 5 (37:02):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (37:04):
You do in your fancy face.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
He's gonna wear a mask.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Oh, you don't want to show your stitches. Oh you
think you're gonna be a Hollywood actor or something.
Speaker 7 (37:13):
You like your teeth?
Speaker 2 (37:14):
Yes, oh my gosh, Jack, Yeah, speaking of which, they
feel so soft. The new Foliage flannels available in store
a Damnpatrick dot com. That is a professional segue if
I've ever seen one. All right, Seaton Fouindal results of
the pole question. Yes, the final results of this pole
(37:37):
question the most impressive catch of all time, not the best,
not the most important, and most impressive right now, David
Tyree slightly edging out Odell Beckham Jr. Okay, most impressive.
I don't have any problem with that. I don't either.
It was just incredible. We've never seen a catch like
that before.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
That was crazy.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Yes, that was crazy.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Yes, you know what those somebody mentioned it earlier a caller,
But that's Santonio Holmes. Catch isn't getting enough recognition. The
throw is great. The catches like textbook everything that you practice.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
When you were a kid out, like in your driveway
or something, getting two feet down trying it. But it
was perfect in that moment that time, Super Bowl. The
throw is the throw overshadows the catch. Yeah, it's a
great throw. It's a hell of a catch.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
You have you have a defensive back or somebody right
in front of him. It looks like an interception at first,
but it goes right through that dude's hands, and to
keep that concentration to catch the ball is amazing.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Where I was situated because I was handing out the
trophy afterwards, So I'm watching down the sidelines and I'm
on the Steelers sidelines. I'm looking down the sidelines and
I'm watching the throw from Ben. I don't see that
Holmes has caught it. I just see that Ben, you know,
rolls to throw, and then all of a sudden, I'm
(38:58):
with Steve Young and then you the crowd erupted and
we realized that he had actually caught that ball. Amazing
ball placement. But I think while the catch was great,
the throw is what overshadows that. Let's go around the room.
What we learned on this program? If we learned anything, Seaton,
I'll start with you. What did you learn today? You
told Charles Barkley you didn't vote for him. I did
(39:18):
not when he won the MVP. I voted for Jordan. Well,
I figured, you know, enough time had passed that I
could bring it up to him and he wouldn't be upset.
I think he was more upset when he lost the
MVP to Magic, where he didn't get any second or
third place votes. Marvin, what did you learn today?
Speaker 3 (39:34):
Chuck got in shape for two million dollars?
Speaker 5 (39:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Paulie, what did you learn?
Speaker 7 (39:38):
We're producing Blindside.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Too, Yeah, starring you. What did I learn today? Paulie?
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Right now is your MVD? Yes?
Speaker 2 (39:47):
He is, Yes, he is right now halfway point more
than halfway? Oh, I mean halfway. It's three quarters, Doug,
this is your most valuable Danette to lose.
Speaker 5 (39:59):
Now.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
The question is is it the fifth inning? And is
he the Yankees or the Dodger. Tire rack dot com
the official tire experts of the Danpatrick Show. Go to
tire rack dot com see the full line up. There.
Have a great weekend, everybody,
