Good to go while supplies last. Okay, all right, Final
Hour eight seven seven three DP show. Good morning those
watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. New
poll question Seaton and maybe the final results of the

(01:16):
previous poll questions.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah, we got up there. Who should be more upset today?
Kirk Cousins or Michael Pennix Junior. Right now at sixty
one percent of still Cousins team in the worst shape
going forward. Sons are running away with that one, followed
by well, actually it's pretty close between the Suns and
the Lakers. They're sharing about the thirty nine to thirty
seven percent of the vote. Nobody's worried about the Sixers,

(01:39):
which is great. I would worry about the Sixers. I would,
but I mean it's not that I'm worried about the
teams in the East getting so much better. Boston is
still young and they're always going to be formidable. You
would think if they're keeping that nucleus together. Am I
worried about.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
You know, the Knicks. Knicks maybe maybe got it right
and maybe they can add a little bit more to this,
but uh, you know, that's a tough team. They play
with the personality of their head coach. Brunson goes for
forty seven they're not afraid, and you know they can
be in the mix here. But I don't know if
I look like the Miami Heat, Like, who am I

(02:18):
looking around? Going? Oh, we got to worry about them.
Good teams, not great teams. Milwaukee Dame is you know,
showing signs here?

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Jannis obviously injured, but he'll be back maybe next year.
But that's an older roster there, Yeah. Seed Maurice on
Twitter suggested a poll question for us. Now that the
Sons have been eliminated, does that mean Fritzy is back
to being the best booker in the business?

Speaker 5 (02:42):
All right?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Oh Devin book Den Boker book Ou I appreciate that, Maurice.
Who's had a better year, Fritzie or Devin Booker? Devin Booker?
Yeah close, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I don't even know if you're up for worst Danette
or best dan at like you've been kind of minute. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Are you saying the two to three spot is the
worst place to be as a danette?

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yes? And Todd has the two to three spot right now,
the two to three seed the middle of the road. Yeah,
So you're not number one seed for the most valuable
Danette and you're not last for least valuable.

Speaker 6 (03:23):
It's kind of there.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, that's missed up.

Speaker 7 (03:25):
Yeah, I got it. You're like a playing team, right, yeah,
go either way. Yes, it's like the NFL draft. You
want to top five picks. You could restart your franchise
or you'll be If you're at bottom of the draft,
you're doing well. But if you have the seventeenth pick
of the draft, you're no man's Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, but hey, you're still time toime is I mean
we're not even into May yet.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
It's inconsistent. One day you're up, one day you're down.
You're say you're up.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
You know, I don't know if you've had a high
high like one of those days. I've definitely had the
low loans. You have a couple of low loans. But
that's okay. Youre are Lolo Jones. Okay, okay, except that
what happened to Lolo Joe.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
That's a great question.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
She was a thing there for a while, and then
all of a sudden she was in the thing.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
The hype wasn't matching the production.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yeah, yeah, okay, we'll get fild reference.

Speaker 7 (04:17):
By the way, Yeah, I mean we're not even in
the Olympics.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
I know.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Well, close. You know, Paris Olympics coming up, never too soon.
Did you go to Petty No? Oh a quick, no,
I would love to Paris is awesome. Yeah, yeah, it's good.
I'd like to go to gay Paris with you and
go to the Mourin Rouge.

Speaker 7 (04:37):
Do you have a Parisian We're.

Speaker 8 (04:38):
Not going.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Wow wow, Todd, Thank you, Thank you, Todd.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
I appreciate that one has not been to Paris. I
have not been to Paris.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Okay, yeah, it's good, fun, nice. I think you'd like it.
Anthony Edwards goes for forty thirty one in the second
half and Timberwolfs say goodbye to the Phoenix Sons, the
artist formerly known as the Phoenix Suns. So what's next
for the Phoenix Suns. Well, here's Anthony Edwards talking about

(05:12):
if it meant anything to knock out the Suns Kevin Durant.
For sure. It's my favorite player of all time.

Speaker 9 (05:18):
Like I said last time, it is the best feeling
in the world man to you know, send him home.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
Or out, whatever you want to call it. I don't
even think I outplayed him. He played great throughout the
whole series.

Speaker 9 (05:26):
But you know my team outplayed his and you know
to come out victorious. Is the best fella ever to
beat him because he's my favorite player of all time.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Okay, is that Anthony Edwards or James in Virginia? Yes,
Jalen Brunson goes for forty seven that set the franchise
record in Indiana up three to one after hitting twenty
two of forty three from three point range, and they

(05:54):
rough up the Milwaukee Bucks. The game's coming up tonight.
It's the Lakers and this could be the end seven
and a half point underdogs thunder the Pelicans. Celtics will
be at the heat the Sixers game with Joe Ellenbiid
and looks like a beaten man. He's beaten up, but
looks like a beaten man. And he had this to

(06:16):
say about the Philadelphia fans, who certainly sounded like Knicks
fans disappointed.

Speaker 8 (06:22):
You know, I love our fans. I think it's unfortunate
and I'm not calling them out, but it is disappointed. Obviously.
You got a lot of Knicks fans and that down
the road. I've never seen it and I've been here
for ten years. Yeah, kind of fisces me off, especially
because Shirley is considers four style so you know that

(06:44):
I've always shown up, and I don't think that should happen.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
All right. You know, if you think your team is
gonna get eliminated, you dump your tickets. Maybe that's what
the Philly fans did. Hey, we're not gonna win, this
might as well make some money. Nick fans come in there,
because that was a Nick's crowd. Definitely. A couple hours
down the turnpike and you're good to go. Yes, Martin, it's.

Speaker 10 (07:09):
An easy trainer. I saw John Starks was on the train.
Saw on social media. Yeah, he's in the train from
there to Philly, and a bunch of Knicks fans were
on the train and he gave him a pep talk
right before they got off. I thought, oh that was easy,
and paid double pay double their tickets.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yeah, all right, we'll go all right. Uh scrap in Ohio, Hey, scrap.
Best and worst of the weekend. Hey how you doing,
Dan p Good? Scrap?

Speaker 4 (07:37):
Okay, here's my breast of the weekend was between the drafts.
Between number one thirty eight and one You concours. Dan
Hurley was playing the saxophone.

Speaker 11 (07:49):
On stage with the band at the draft. My worst
is Roger Goodell on the Pat McAfee show.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Lie in the.

Speaker 12 (07:58):
Protecting the owns.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
About your show. Oh he's not coming on my show,
but that's okay. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (08:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
I didn't see the interview. I read some excerpts, but
I think they talked about gambling. And while the commissioner
said that they're all in, you know, the the one
to eighty that he did on gambling. But eighteen game schedule,
I mean it's coming. The question is when not if
it's silly. Yeah, you know it's under consideration. No, they're

(08:29):
going to do this. The number of games that are
going to be played outside of the country. Get ready
for that a lot more than you think, because if
you add the eighteenth game, now it feels like, hey,
it's kind of a bonus and now we can have
in different parts of the world. That's what they want
to do. So instead of having a team in London
and years, for years we were told Jacksonville, Well, now

(08:53):
all you're doing is saying, hey, teams, pick a country,
you can have a fan base there and we'll be
playing games. That's what's going on here, Yes, Paul.

Speaker 7 (09:02):
And you know how the NFL is when when Roger
Goodell goes on a national show and says eighteen games.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Love it?

Speaker 7 (09:07):
Yeah, I see that. He actually talked about how to
stretch the season and make it a three day weekend, like.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
He was fighting President's Day weekend, I think, and they
would have the super Bowl on Sunday. Therefore people had
Monday off. We've said this for years.

Speaker 7 (09:20):
There was no blowback to the interview. Everyone's like, sign
us up, Yes, it's inevitable.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
We said, why don't you bump it back and then
you can have President's Day weekend and then people can
have that Monday off. I mean, there's no surprises here.
Eighteen games. There's no surprises here. Oh, we all of
a sudden like gambling when we said we were worried
about the integrity of the sport.

Speaker 13 (09:41):
Okay, yes, ton if you're the head of the NFLPA,
you got it in your hearing that you gotta be Okay,
they're all worried about injury. These to our players were
playing an extra game. They're gonna make us slip all
over the world. What kind of monetary value will that
be to the players for them to go along.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Well, you get an extra game check and as much
as we go, Oh gosh, the to protect the players.
I mean, are the players protecting the players? They're gonna
sign up for another paycheck here, So hey, I don't
like Thursday night games. I'm in the minority here. Do
you need to have eighteen games? Did we need to

(10:15):
have seventeen?

Speaker 6 (10:16):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (10:17):
More?

Speaker 2 (10:17):
More and more and more? Now we're going to round
the globe? Okay, I mean all I can do is
raise my hand and say, you know, not all this
makes sense. Did you see where they might allow those
those helmets like this is gonna happen? And I've said
this before for the last two years. Can you come
up with somebody who can design the helmets so they

(10:39):
don't look space age, so they look a little bit
more uniformed and they don't stand out. But these are
the cushion helmets. I'm not sure the official names of those,
PAULI the Guardian helmets. Okay, yes, so Guardians of the Galaxy.
Can we make these helmets look esthetically more pleasing than
got Look at that guy.

Speaker 7 (10:57):
We actually talked about it last year in the preseason
because of being used by defensive backs and running backs
and wide receivers, and I think you brought up if
they actually helped health. Why aren't you using them in
the regular season. Now it appears, according to ABC News,
that players will be allowed to use them in the
regular season. Their biggest concern was with the helmets were
catching during full speed activity. What do they catch on

(11:20):
each other and maybe cause neck injuries? That's still the question,
but it feels I don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
I would think when you have a billion billions of
dollars in this industry, you'd be able to come up
with well, although look at Baseball with their new uniforms.
Can't even come up with a new uniform. I mean,
the uniforms aren't any good. Said that when they started,
you know, they felt like they were Little League and
now they got to go back to the drawing board

(11:47):
with this. Some shocker there. But as far as the
helmets go, can you do something where the helmets don't
catch on each other and maybe you know, cause neck,
you know damage, But if you're using an in practice,
That's why I said, somebody has to be able to
come up with a helmet that doesn't look weird and
it kind of you know, falls in line and I

(12:09):
go back to the aesthetics of it that it doesn't
look weird or odd to wear that. But now it
looks like the NFL is saying that they're going to
allow that. Yes, TOD.

Speaker 6 (12:17):
Doesn't it have to be where everyone wears it or
everyone doesn't wear it?

Speaker 13 (12:20):
Would they actually allow individual teams or individual players within
a team to wear Some have bigger helmets, some have
smaller ones. Some look one way. I thought they like
everything so nice and clean and neat on TV.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Well, you you can choose what your face mask looks like.
You can choose, you know, guys have different looks with
their helmets, their shoulder pads, the shoes they wear. So
I don't know if the NFL is going to go no,
you know, just like with our socks, they got to
be pulled up, you know, to the right length. I
always thought that that was strange that you had somebody

(12:51):
walking around and checking your socks. Hey, I'm going to
find you you didn't have your socks up high enough.

Speaker 7 (12:59):
Yeah, So these Guardian helmets, it looks like the inside
of the helmet is on the outside. So that one
of the bigger challenges to put a logo on it,
because it's not uniform. It's a bunch of little pads
all over the place. So if you're gonna put a
chief's logo on it, how is that gonna look? I
think that's one of their concerns going forward for next year.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Yeah, the aesthetics. Uh, Shane in Texas? Hi, Shane, what's
on your mind?

Speaker 12 (13:21):
Every day?

Speaker 6 (13:21):
It is a super Bowl?

Speaker 12 (13:22):
I'd asked how I was doing.

Speaker 13 (13:26):
It's careful not to pull the Steve Leading and say
this slowly.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
I have a disc bulge okay.

Speaker 12 (13:34):
And I had an MRI done over the week last week,
and the first thing that came into my mind that
we were wheeling me in.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
Was Seaton's imitation a Fritzy.

Speaker 12 (13:46):
Doing You've got to get me out of this thing.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Well, thank you, Shane, don Kushane, Oh yeah, are you kids?

Speaker 6 (13:55):
Got held up on the blue But it's too late now, No,
it's not.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
It was blue unenthusiastic on ka Shane boop bloop bulging
pause disc Yes, Paul.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
That MRI. The first time you do it, it's a bit uh.
And I'm not even claustrophobic though. It's it feels like
something bad's happening to you.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Well just the noise, yeah, it's space age. It's like
and then they give you headphones and then they play
music and you can still hear the MM.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
Yes, Tom, I had a bad experience, as you would
imagine with on.

Speaker 13 (14:34):
A horse, because they check in with you correctly on
some kind of little microphone.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
How are we doing it in there, mister Frist.

Speaker 13 (14:39):
I don't know if I was sweating or they saw
that I was shaking a little bit of Go is
this almost over it? Because you know, as ten minutes
it seemed like forty minutes to me, it's it's ten.

Speaker 6 (14:47):
It was there, you're going through this little teeny tunnel.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
No, it's not teeny tunnel.

Speaker 13 (14:51):
I felt like I was going to bang the top
of my head on it as they're putting me through
the thing.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
It was not God, if it was teeny, you wouldn't
fit through it. That's not it.

Speaker 13 (15:00):
Don't make different sides side. Because I asked for like
the two X, I thought they made it bigger for me.
I'm like, yeah, I did say it was this almost over,
and they said, actually we have another like eight nine
minutes left of this.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah, it's like ten minutes, ten twelve minutes. Not bad.
You just have to suspend, you know, belief in reality.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
That's if they give an IV with like they depends
what they're looking at.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Oh my god, Sean in Kansas. I Sean, what's on
your mind?

Speaker 12 (15:29):
Hey guys, thanks for taking my call again. I do
have a best and a worst. I think my best
is I watched a movie that I think is right
up your alley, Dan, if you haven't watched A Monkey
Man yet. It's very in the realm of John Wick
Jason Bourne, but no guns. It's all action, all fight
scene and then I think you'd think you really like it.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Who's in Monkey dev Ptel's the directory? I saw, Yeah,
I saw that. I saw the trailer of that. Okay,
dev Ptell, he was in Action SunDog Millionaire.

Speaker 12 (16:02):
Yes, the action scenes are really really well done and
he deserves a lot of credit for that because he
put a lot of money and time into it, and
I think he would really like that.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Cool. My worst.

Speaker 12 (16:12):
My dad took me to a Sun's game when I
was a kid and I saw Steve Nash and I've
been a Suns fan ever since. And I told him
when we got Kevin Durant, I said, you're you're giving
away the next six years worth of depth for one guy.
And if you don't win a title in the next
two years, you got to find a way to get
picks for him. So I just think this was the
worst decision they made to just mortgage the next six

(16:33):
or seven years for two players, and it's obviously never
going to work.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
So well, Bradley Beal, I wouldn't have brought in but Durant.
You know, Durant can still play at a high level.
It's just I'm waiting for Devin Booker to be the leader.
Like Devin Booker is going to be joker or y honest,
But I don't get that feeling. There's always these games
where you go, man, d book had great night. I

(16:58):
just don't get that feeling of, hey, I can you
know I can count on that guy to lead me
to an NBA title. I think he's one of the
great shooters scorers, but it's so much more than that.
Can you do something more? Are you a leader? And
I think he's always just going to have great numbers.
I don't know if he's going to have great success.

(17:20):
But does Durant want to stay? You know, these guys
don't have you know, there's no trade clauses like here
you go. It's what you got, and for better for worse,
you're tied up one hundred and fifty million dollars with
those three coming up next season. And the West, the West,

(17:42):
I mean, we don't even have John Moran back yet.
Denver's still good. Yeah, there's a couple of teams. You know,
Portland is not good. Golden State. We don't know what
they're going to be like. I mean, there's only a
couple of teams in the West where you go. They
don't have a chance.

Speaker 10 (18:00):
Yes, Marph, Yeah, let's san Antonio get a good point guard.
See what happens.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, keep waiting for that. You know, the Suns could
get a good point guard. That might help them too,
but definitely the Spurs. I kept thinking, Okay, who's the
point guard here? I mean, I'll take Tony Parker now,
you know, help condition now, yes, yes, I mean you
got a young kid in there. You need a point guard.

(18:26):
Help him out. That's why I'm waiting for Chris Paul
to go San Antonio. Yeah, I think you must play
one more year, so let him go down there and
help the big guy. All right, when we come back,
our best and worst to the weekend. More phone calls
as well, back after this. Thanks for listening to The

Hey, this is Tom Berducci from Fox Sports, MLB Network
and Sports Illustrated, and.

Speaker 14 (19:10):
I'm Joe Madden, and we're going to be around to
talk a little bit about managerial decisions and what may
have accorded to the dugout maybe in the nineteen eighties.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
It's the Book of Joe Podcasts. I can't wait for this, Joe.

Speaker 15 (19:20):
We're going to dive into what goes on in the
dugout and behind the scenes in.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Major League Baseball, cars, wind whatever else we want to
talk about. Yeah, well, there are no boundaries, right.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Listen to the Book of Joe podcast on the iHeartRadio app,
on Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
The first Saturday in May, No their day can compete
the atmosphere or the excitement, the glamour, Churchill Downs, the
one hundred and fiftieth Kentucky Derby May fourth on NBC
and Peacock Best and Worst of the Weekend, Todd, I'm
gonna oh, you got your Ranger gear on your Ranger kit.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Let's go Rangers. That's all I know.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Rangers beat the Caps FO to sweep their first round series.
Can you name three Rangers current Rangers.

Speaker 13 (20:08):
I think that's a paneren Maybe maybe I'd be on
the Islanders though, run to day Yeah, then Beesbrook Richter.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Nobody lives in the eighties like you do with all
of your sports teams. It's nothing to do with nowadays.
But you have all the gear. You just don't know anybody.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
I got this from high school. This is like this
is like junior year in high school Jersey.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Best and Worst of the weekend, Todd.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
If you like offense, this is my best of the weekend.

Speaker 13 (20:36):
I'm blowout in Major League Baseball as opposed to a
pitcher's duel, you must have enjoyed Saturday around the league.
Astros over Rockies twelve to four, Nationals over Marlins eleven four,
Yankees over Brewers fifteen three, Twins over Angels sixteen to five,
Red Sox blank the Cubs at Fenway seventeen.

Speaker 6 (20:51):
Nothing, what's going on here? Worst of the weekend.

Speaker 13 (20:53):
The Nuggets had to warm up for Game four Saturday
night at the Lakers without their basketball shoes. The bus
carrying the players foot wear somehow arrived late to the stadium.
Some players were shooting around in flip flops and slides.
The boys got there, the bus got there eventually, but
Denver would lose Game four.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Okay, I don't know why you don't have your own
shoes with you as a backup. Don't they carry it
over their shoulders. I mean, that's the way we used to.
You got to have somebody who brings your shoes. Okay.
And it's a different bus, the equipment that came in.
No shoes. They were out there warming up in their slides,

(21:29):
but their head coach, Michael Malone said that that was
not the reason why they lost. I'm guessing they will
have their shoes tonight since it's a home game. Seaton
Best and worst of the weekend my best.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
I've talked about it before, and we've played the sound
today and I'll hit the Kevin Durant one again. But
I absolutely love the mutual respect between Kevin Durant and
Anthony Edwards. Very rarely do you get someone as accomplished
as Kevin Durant being so like classy or humble and
saying like, man, I love this kid.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
He's great and he got the better of me. I
love this sound bite from Kevin Durant, so.

Speaker 15 (22:00):
Impressed when aunt my favorite player to watch just grown
so much since he came into the league at twenty two.
Just his love for the game just shines bright. And
that's something that's probably that's one of the reasons why
I like him the most, because he just loves basketball.
He's grateful to be in his position, and he's taken
advantage of every opportunity he's gotten, love everything about everything
and be watching him going forward and you know, you

(22:23):
know he's gonna go out there and play extremely hard
every single night. But it was really impressed with him,
and there's gonna be somebody else following for the rest
of his career.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
And then I thought he was going to add and
I look forward to playing with the Timberwolves next year.
He was way forward to be in his teammate.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
That's kind of got you on to play for Yeah,
and I look forward to being a Timberwolf next year.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
That's great.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yeah, that dude loves basketball and I love that. My
worst of the weekend though, man sticking with basketball, Jamal
Murray calf injury.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
That's hopefully not super serious.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
But you don't want star players or even the second
star players on a team to be hurt.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Yeah, because he just had this big shot that he
hit and then all of a sudden people kind of
rediscovered him. Never been an All Star.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
He's a dude that can have a breakout game every
series that you're like, God, that guy is good.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
I have the over under DraftKings has an over under
form tonight twenty three and a half, So I guess
they're expecting him to play Marvin Best and worst.

Speaker 10 (23:22):
Best of the weekend Lewis Riddick at the end of
the NFL Draft, he thanked Security. He thanked the editors
who edited four hundred and seventy five plus highlight packages
for all the draft prospects. So he think a lot
of people that don't get a lot of credit putting
that stuff together, including Security. Worst of the Weekend Joelle
Embiid in the fourth quarter, one point seven turnovers.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
And FI files. Yeah, like that that you can't be
a franchise player and have any of those stats in
in this game a must win situation for you. And look,
and I know that he's hurt. I get that, but
you're like, how hurt are you in the fourth quarter

(24:08):
when you're not as hurt in the first three quarters
and you have all those turnovers and all those founds
and you have one point and then he had like
that ten footer and then he didn't take the tail.
I'm like, what are you doing?

Speaker 6 (24:19):
What a week layout?

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yes, like, donkey, what are you doing?

Speaker 8 (24:24):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (24:25):
Pauli besternworst Pacers go up three to one on the Bucks.
Miles Turner, the big man for the Pacers, seven for
nine from three to twenty nine points. Probably his career game.
He's like in the Hall of Good every year. He
averages like seventeen and eight a couple of blocks. Very
entertaining player, but like never has made an All Star team.
The other best of the week, And I would say,

(24:46):
the city of Detroit, I know you come out for
Thursday night for the draft. They came out on Saturday
for rounds four, five, six, and seven. There are crowds outside.
It was really unbelievable. Detroit came out big.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Yeah, they I think it was close to eight hundred
came out for the draft. That was impressive. Watch names
be called. Yes, yeah, fascinating. Well, you know, you get
fans get dressed up. I mean there's there's atmosphere there.
But and you get a chance to be on TV. Perhaps,
although when you look at the overhead camera and you're

(25:19):
looking at all those people, there's a some people getting
on TV, there's a whole lot of people that aren't
getting on TV.

Speaker 10 (25:26):
Yeah, Mark watching the late round guys get finally drafted.
I couldn't imagine being at one of those draft parties
where it's like, man, he's supposed to be a third
rounder or in a fourth round?

Speaker 6 (25:36):
Le Yeah, is that who's that calling?

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Man?

Speaker 6 (25:39):
It's my uncle. Stop calling me?

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I think if yes, you don't want somebody calling, and
then the team is trying to call you can't get
a hold of you. I don't know if it's ever
been we can't get a hold of him. All right,
it's take somebody else, all right? With the thirty fourth pick.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Yeah, Well there's that video too of Tom Brady, you know,
and he gets all emotional because he's talking about his
parents or whatever, and it's draft day and he's like,
you know what, the phone was in his ringing, So
I just decided I'm gonna go for a walk and
I'm just gonna go walk around and.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Gets like you're gonna went for a walk, Like what doubt?
I wouldn't go. I wouldn't leave my house. I would
be like, is everything working? Is the phone line right?
Is my self service? Did I pay my bill that
I would have? I'm just gonna go for a walk
and clear my I would not have a draft day
party unless I was going in the top ten. I
would not because you know the difference between being the
eleventh pick or the thirty first pick. You know, it

(26:28):
can be a couple hours, it feels like and then
you're like, oh god, somebody called who is it? It's nobody,
nobody spam yeah pulling.

Speaker 7 (26:38):
So when they get to the last pick of the draft,
they do the whole mister irrelevant thing. They do it
every year. They mentioned the names. Brock Party now has
NFL immortality, Like Tom Brady, he's the sixth round guy
brock Party. Would I know he's got a good career going.
But let's say it doesn't pan out. He will have
immortality on draft day. He's the first name mentioned now forever.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Larry in Michigan, Hi, Larry, what's on your one five six.

Speaker 16 (27:01):
One fifty six.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Best of the week.

Speaker 16 (27:06):
My Lions going Canadian. I like the way that they
picked up a big old tackle out of British Columbia,
and they also over the off season picked up the
sack leader from last year from the CFL. The worst
of the week is the rest of the end of
the North, that that division is going to be tough,
with the Bear pick Williams and Oldouza, and then Minnesota

(27:29):
picking up Old Taylor, who's mattern heck that he didn't
get picked earlier, and green Bay annoying as ever, I
got another ten to fifteen years of another green Bay quarterback.
Oh and because it's I came with it a half
a half of getting I've got to Barry Sanders. Jersey
said I've never worn I haven't worn since he retired

(27:50):
because I was so mad, and I said I will
not wear these until they get to a Super Bowl.
I'm a stupid I didn't say win it, I said
get to it and came within a half and uh,
just frustrating.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Keep your head up, Larry, keep your head up. It's
like you get greedy because if I would have said
to you, Hey, your team's gonna go to the NFC
Title Game, you'd be like, I'm not even gonna ask
if we won, Like, we're gonna go to the NFC
title game, Yes, you'd sign up for that. Well, now
if you go to the NFC title game this year,
you're like, yeah, but we went there last year. Like,

(28:24):
you're not going to be satisfied. It doesn't take long
for us to go. God, I would give anything to
make the playoffs. And then you make the playoffs and
it's like, yeah, but we made the playoffs before. Like
Cowboy fans, hey, how about thirteen more wins this year?
Now I want a first round win? Yeah, you can
have thirteen wins. Can't guarantee you that first round victory

(28:47):
in the playoffs, yes, Marvin, But.

Speaker 10 (28:49):
I think for the lines it's only because you're up
twenty four to seven. I think it's almost like being
a Falcons fan, sorry Falcons fans being up twenty eight three,
like oh if Theons, if the Falcons can get to
a Super Bowl, you would or rather had them lose
the way they lost to the Broncos instead of the
way they lost to the Falcons.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Thank you, Mark, Nate and Iowa, Hi, Nate, what's on
your mind?

Speaker 11 (29:14):
They has just call them in the one caller talking
about the Falcons knowing about maybe their upcoming suspension. The
Dolphins did lose a first round pick in twenty twenty
three from that tampering. Their penalty was losing their first
round pick in twenty three, in the third round in
twenty four and then similar tampering. I think the Chiefs

(29:34):
in twenty fifteen lost a third and sixth for talking
with Jeremy Macklin.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Oh great, well, thank you, thank you for setting us
straight on that, Nate. Yeah, because I know that it
was I think a third round pick this year. I
forgot that they got dinged a first round pick for
flirting with Tom Brady and Sean Payton.

Speaker 7 (29:50):
Yes, paum, yeah, I'm looking at the report on that one.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
And the.

Speaker 7 (29:54):
Dolphins got three different occasions they tampered with Brady. They
were caught thrice. Wasn't like a one time accidental thing
with an excell run in.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
James in California, Hi, James, what's on your mind?

Speaker 14 (30:07):
Dan a third Time Long Time sixty one two.

Speaker 11 (30:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (30:13):
So three days ago post Malone he released his cover
of I'm Going to Miss Her by Brad Paisley. I
know that you and the Dan Edge, after some persuasion
to you got to go to see post Malone during
Super Week when you're at Fountain Blue, and I looked
up the music video and you know, twenty two years ago,
in two thousand and two, you were in the music
video for Brad Paisley's I'm Going to Miss Her. I

(30:34):
wanted to see if it was a full circle moment
for you, if you remember when you were back at
the Mothership and you've had a chance to listen.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
I did not get a chance to listen, but I
know post Malone did a country set recently, maybe over
the weekend. He's also in the first song on Taylor
Swift's album. Very talented guy, even though he's a cowboy fan,
I mean, he's very talented guy. Came out with his
Troy Aikman jersey on in Vegas on a great.

Speaker 14 (31:02):
So.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah. I thought the Brad Paisley video that I was in,
wasn't it called Gone Fishing? I don't remember if I
was in another Brad Paisley video. For some reason, I
thought it was that. And then he ended up winning
like the Country Music Award or something Video of the Year,

(31:23):
and and I should say we but then he got
up there and then he didn't thank me, and he
said that he didn't think he was going to win
and he forgot. But he comes up to ESPN. It
was a Sunday night. I was doing Sports Center and
Brad Paisley brings up his wife. Now I didn't know
that she was an actress and she was in Father

(31:44):
of the Bride. I think, does that sound right? Ton,
That's right? Yeah, thank you, Tom. And I don't even
know if he introduced her other than her first name
and didn't say you know that she So I didn't
realize it because I'm doing Sports Center, but he wanted
to come up and watch Sports Center. Yes, Timberie Williams Paisley, Yes,
and uh so he you know. We talked for probably

(32:07):
a half hour, and he won me in a music video.
And then I think I just played myself in the
music video. Do you got any details over there on
the video that I'm in anybody over there doing anything?

Speaker 7 (32:24):
No?

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Sorry, trying to figure out which music videos you were in? Well?
Do you mean the ones with Brad Paisley? Yeah? Yeah,
they should be just one. I'm thinking you don't remember that.
I remember I was in a music video, but I
thought it was like gone Fishing? Is it that hard

(32:46):
to google? Dan Patrick, Brad Paisley, I'm gonna miss her
the medicine?

Speaker 6 (32:51):
Will you know what?

Speaker 3 (32:51):
When I bring up Brad Paisley, Dan Patrick? Yeah, five
different video music videos.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
The most surprising thing is that you're not or which
one being able to figure it out? I'm not sure.
How the hell don't you guys know this?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
Why don't you know? You should? You're Google? I can't
google it. While you lived, I lived a lot of things. Seed,
you don't remember everything that you lived either.

Speaker 13 (33:15):
Yeah, yes, Todd, it appears to be I'm going to
miss her the Phishing song in parentheses one it appears
to me or it is I'm looking at someone says
it all started with former ESPN sportscaster Dan Patrick, and
then it talks about two thousand and two Brad Paisley
set up to do a music video.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
I'm going to miss her the Fishing song.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Okay, it appears to be Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 10 (33:33):
Yes, it is you and I'm gonna miss her. Okay,
official video, but it is the fishing song, correct, Okay?

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Yes.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
Brad Paisley did an interview about this just a couple
of years ago. Instead, he had written a song in
college and had the thought of the video even back
in college. He was watching ESPN and he said he
wanted in his head you to be the guy in
the video well before even got to Nashville.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Hmmm, yeah, nice guy.

Speaker 7 (33:58):
You know, we're in another music video, kind of of
the country singer Sam Hunt his first ever video. He's
in like an old bar, like a kind of a pub,
and he's singing on stage and there's a one of
our beer neons behind him, says the Dan Patrick shows
behind and it was unplanned. It was just happening.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
The Red Hook, Yeah, that's right, Red Hook Okay, and
then Hooty and the Blowfish.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
I was in that video. Only one to be with you,
thank you. Marvin. Didn't have to google that one. And
I think that's it. I think that's all the music videos.
Biscuit No, No, the Janet Jackson one, well one's that.

Speaker 11 (34:40):
Rhythm I don't know.

Speaker 13 (34:47):
Yes, yes, John, there's the music videos like the memoriam
Are you gonna be on that one too?

Speaker 7 (34:53):
Now?

Speaker 6 (34:53):
Now that we know that you're a you got that
in you'r a back pocket too. Not just the Academy Awards.

Speaker 13 (34:59):
The Music Video m MTA, m VAS whatever, MTV Music Awards, MTAs,
y MTA.

Speaker 6 (35:04):
That's actually the transit of.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
All right, they take a break. We're gonna wipe that
one off. The possible sports Emmy reel. Oh yeah, yeah,
for next year, we'll take a break, last golf for
phone calls, what we learn, what's in store tomorrow, all
of that right after this. Thanks for listening to The
Dan Patrick Show podcast. Be sure to catch us live
every weekday morning nine until noon eastern six to nine

(35:28):
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, and you can find us
on the iHeartRadio app at FSR or stream us live
on the Peacock app. Sell Billy Joel on Friday Night,
No opening act, by the way, that just Billy Joel
two and a half hours. And you know that you're
really successful when you can't play all of your hits

(35:51):
in two and a half hours. But it was good.
It's fun, a lot of sing along and third row seats.
My wife surprised me. Great eat. Yeah, close enough that
I could see the set list on his piano. Yes, Ton,
did he still do the encore thing.

Speaker 6 (36:07):
And pretended it was over and it wasn't over? I
don't know.

Speaker 13 (36:09):
If you reach a certain age where you walk out
and you got to come back in, and you walk
out again, come back in question answered? If you ask answer,
I asked the thing.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Then try it again.

Speaker 13 (36:19):
Did Billy Joel have any kind of encore where he
pretended the concert was over but it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
He had an encore? I don't know if he was
pretending that it was over, like he didn't say good night,
drive home safely or anything goes crazy?

Speaker 6 (36:34):
No, please as to be one or two more.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
But that bothers you.

Speaker 13 (36:37):
When I first went to a concert, I didn't know
I from encourse and things like that, and like I
was wondering what that was all about.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
Then would it bother you more if he didn't have
an encore he left a couple of big songs out
and he just said good night.

Speaker 6 (36:48):
Yes, that would bother me because it happened to me
with Hall and Oates they left, Are you okay?

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Then that he has the fake ending to the contest.

Speaker 6 (36:54):
I was just wondering if he did do that, not
whether I don't like encorees or I was wondering if
he did it.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Yeah, he did. He did do that. Everybody does that. Yeah,
See what year was that scarring in today?

Speaker 13 (37:05):
I was at a Hall of Oaks concert in the
early to mid eighties and they left it, and it
was like, wait a second, and.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
You're still upset about the great It was like.

Speaker 7 (37:15):
Four, it's the last concert he went to.

Speaker 6 (37:17):
How did you not do private? I said, kiss on
my list? What's going on here?

Speaker 8 (37:20):
Leave it?

Speaker 2 (37:20):
It's likely almost forty years ago.

Speaker 7 (37:22):
I was.

Speaker 6 (37:23):
I was very I was going down the escalator, reasoning his.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Life is forty years ago. See this is one time
that I got there and then then leaving.

Speaker 6 (37:30):
I left my seat, I went down the escalator.

Speaker 13 (37:31):
I was getting ready to leave the whole facility there,
and all of a sudden I could hear them starting
to play music and what And I ran back, Oh, oh.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
You're buried to lead it.

Speaker 7 (37:38):
So you're saying they did an encore and you missed it.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
He thought it the concert was over.

Speaker 13 (37:43):
I missed the first product, like one of their last
two or three songs, because I thought it was over,
and then I went back up Escalator because I thought
they were done playing.

Speaker 6 (37:49):
I didn't know that they did this.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
But that's not on Hall and OAS's on us.

Speaker 6 (37:53):
I wasn't aware.

Speaker 13 (37:54):
I was very ignorant to how the whole concert thing
goes where you pretend you're done but you're not on
the crowd situation.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Well wait, but you're blaming Hall and ods such how
you started this? You got scarred by this?

Speaker 13 (38:05):
Yes, I was upset because I didn't understand why they
didn't play it earlier and I thought it was over
and I felt like I got tricked.

Speaker 6 (38:09):
I'm like, why do you got to play games? Like
just sing all the songs? But I got to pretend
it's old?

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Did you see a lot of people who didn't move
They weren't leaving their seats?

Speaker 6 (38:16):
And then did you're waiting for the credits to run
us about? Because it's a concert, it's not a movie.

Speaker 8 (38:20):
What do you what are you still do?

Speaker 2 (38:21):
The fact that you're still scarred forty years later.

Speaker 6 (38:23):
I still bought the concert shirting.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
The really of course you did.

Speaker 7 (38:27):
Oh, there's not onkward to a segment?

Speaker 12 (38:30):
Is there?

Speaker 2 (38:31):
No? No, nobody would want it if they we wouldn't
see private arts. People are already leaving early. They're not
even waiting. That's the first ninety seconds of this three song.

Speaker 7 (38:43):
This day in Sports History Pong nineteen forty one, the
Boston Bees changed their name to the Braves before they moved.
Nineteen sixty one, ABC's Wide World of Sports premiered what
a great run they had? Yeah, uh, here's a fun
one for you. Eighty five, Billy Martin was brought back
for the fourth time as manager of the New York
Yankee and I was there for the fourth one.

Speaker 13 (39:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (39:03):
Remember it became like a joke that it was you.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Know what when you said that fourth time, I go.
I think I was there for the third and fourth
time that Billy Martin came back with the Yankees. Oh
my god.

Speaker 7 (39:16):
Nineteen eighty the Baltimore Orioles set in record losing the
first twenty one games of the regular season.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Yeah that's it, okay. Uh hass in South Bend, Hey, hass.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
Good morning, dam Hey, best and worse of the weekend.
H My best is my Indiana Pacers. Boy, It's been
a long time since I've been able to be excited
about that. My worst is I just got back from
Pensacola on vacation and the unpacking. I hate the bet

(39:48):
the unpacking. It is the worst strength.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (39:52):
First of all issues unpacking, dusting.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
Packing is what I don't like. Unpacking. You just take
stuff out, throw at the laundry. Packing you're like, okay,
I gotta have that. I got to the hat and
then oh I forgot that if yeah, I don't know that.
When you come back, that's not difficult. The hard part's packing.
Let's go around the room. If we learned anything, Todd,

(40:18):
did you truly learn something?

Speaker 6 (40:20):
Actually?

Speaker 13 (40:20):
Rick new Heisel thinks Kirk Cousins will be a great
broadcast analyst once he's done playing football.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Yeah, that's not the thing that Falcons fans want to hear.
You know, he's going to be a great broadcaster. How
about quarterback see O'Connor. Would you learn Michael Pennix Junior
the third is the one who should be upset? Yes, yeah,
he's probably going. Wait if I go to the Raiders,
I start right away. Marvin, how about you?

Speaker 6 (40:43):
Fritzy does not like encores.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Paulie, What did you?

Speaker 7 (40:47):
CBS Sports with the overhaul of their Sunday show.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Yeah, boomers, science and Phil Simms are out Todd. What
did I learn today?

Speaker 13 (40:54):
Anthony Edwards has riz as. The kids say he's got charisma.
Ant Man not afraid.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
He go back to that movie, That's Sandler movie. And
when I'm watching him in Hustle, I said to Samman,
I said that dude is a star, and Samman said,
you know he can act. He was really really talented
in that movie. What we learned brought to you by
