on the Peacock Act. We made it to a Friday,
and it's a meat Friday. At that Kings Hawaiian is
in the house.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Stop it.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Chef Greg is here. I don't even know some of
the items on the menu. Now, they're all sliders, just
to let you know. We have the Carneie Asada slider,
we have the Fog City Slider, and we have the
Milford Man Cave Lobster Slide.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Oh no, no, yeah, we do, we do, but I
don't know some of these words.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
I don't speak Spanish. Hillo, got a hero, dusted ribbi,
blistered uh something, venezuel and avocado sauce, salsa creolo. And
then that's on the King Hawaiian Pretzel Slider, bun, the
(01:18):
Fog City Slider, Smoked Turkey arugula, bacon peppers, HAVARTI.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Excuse me, havartes, A lovely type of.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Cheese, green goddess slaw. That's on the original King Sawaiian Roles.
The Milford Man Cave Lobster Slider. It's uh main lobster burne, sauce,
crispy potatoes.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
And that's on the original slider.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Bun No.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Has it better than we do. No Seatan couldn't find
the game last night. He's flipping through, flipping through, where's
this game? Flipping through?
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Okay, look, I understand that my brain is not always
functioning at the highest level, but I was, Yeah, I
turned on.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I'm like, I'm scrolling through like you know, Hulu. I'm like,
where the hell is this game?
Speaker 5 (02:12):
And then I look and on Fox they have a
U it was the Mets were on, and I was
just like, is it blacked out here?
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Because the Mets around? But that's crazy. Why wouldn't it
be on there? It's a game's got to be.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
It took me a solid, I don't know, ten minutes
and then I look, I'm like, I swear there was
a game tonight, and I see it's like in the
first quarter. Yeah, what the hell is going on? Oh,
that's right, I forgot Amazon is a thing. Yes, yes,
it's just not a TV destination all the time.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
No it's no, it's not. I'd admit yep.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:38):
Can we create some type of like app for a
smart TV that you input your settings? Like I watch football,
I watched college football, I watch NFL, and your TV
just when it's kickoff, it turns on and goes to
that game in whatever room you designated to. So like,
if you're running late, let's say you're coming back, you're
you want to pick up some wings and some beer.
You walk in, You're like, oh, I gotta get it
(02:59):
on Amazon. It's going to me two minutes. It's already on.
That can't be that hard to do.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Kenneth What, It's kind of like websites if you go
to them and then all of a sudden they remind
you that, hey, we got a new sale going on, right,
you know Zappos you want new shoes, and then you'll
be like, oh, okay, that's nice. They reminded me that
maybe you could come up with an app that would
be like, we want to help you out. If you
want to watch football, here you go we'll turn the
(03:23):
TV on for you.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Yeah, speaking of Amazon, I might as well just get
all the gripes out now. Oh, somebody's got to fix
the damn sound on that broadcast.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
It's awful.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Oh it is awful, Like doesn't it doesn't anybody you
pay all this money for that gaming you can't hear that.
It sounds like crap. Yeah, there's no atmosphere, you got
no crowd sound. That mics are all over the place.
It's terrible.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
My wife walks by as I'm watching, and she goes,
what's wrong with the TV? I go, it's not the TV,
it's those who are producing the stuff that goes on
the TV.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, Pauline, I can't put my figure on it.
Speaker 7 (03:53):
I love Herpstreet, I love al Michaels, But when I
have the game on, you ever have like your stereo
and your and you have it, you know, the base
and the trouble set, and somehow it gets reset and
everything's reset to like medium, yeah, medium, and you're like,
where's where's the highs?
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Where's the lows? It has that feeling but seton is
that what you're feeling?
Speaker 8 (04:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Yeah, yeah, it's like not dynamic or something you know,
it's just like and that to me, the crowd noise
is an integral part of getting the atmosphere, and there's
zero there. It feels like they're a million miles away
from the game.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
And that was my complaint last year with it, that
they were missing the fullness of the broadcast. And that's
you know, when you tune in and it sounds like
you're there or there, they want to try to, you know,
invite you in. So it feels like, man, I'm right there.
And the way you know these TVs are and surrounds,
then it should be great. It should you know, almost
(04:44):
feel like you're part of you know, the fan base
watching this.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Ye And I didn't have that last year.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Yes, and especially because people's home TV setups have really
like gotten much more premium or something, you know what
I mean. Like the whole experience is so good that
you have to capture that there if lots of people
have surround sound or things like that, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Well, we've created the atmosphere that is so good that
you don't even have to go to a game that
it's with the sound of it, the TVs, the quality
that it's almost a better experience sometimes when you're sitting
at home.
Speaker 7 (05:20):
Yes, yes, it's also hard to tell at home whether
it's how they're micing up the field and making up
the crowd and the announcers, or it's the delivery of
Amazon to our homes, because you know, when I listen
to a game on ABC, those college football games, it's thunderous.
The crowd noise almost overwhelms Fowler sometimes in a good way,
and it's hard to tell what's going on.
Speaker 2 (05:39):

trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. I think we're
close to four hundred Crappensburg State T shirts that we
have sold. Of course, we've sold four hundred Crappensburg State
T shirts.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Let's go crap you.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
And I was wondering, did we make a mistake and
not call it the University of Crappensburg so it'd be
you crap or crap you, But it's Crappensburg State and
it's the Duchies of Crampensburg.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
You crap, we crap all crap. Yeah, works out.
Speaker 2 (07:22):

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Yeah, yeah, yes.
Speaker 7 (07:39):
Why does some schools go like, is it see you Colorado?
But it's not Colorado University. It's the University of Colorado,
but you hear them go.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Let's go see you. But if you go to the website,
it's the univer it's University of Colorado. But i'd alreadys
heard it as see you.
Speaker 7 (07:54):
And rock Chalk Jayhawk, it's always KU kay you, but
it's University of Kansas.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
It's not Kansas University, I don't think, but.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
It's KU right, I'm checking, okay, yes, yes.
Speaker 9 (08:06):
And what Cincinnati as you see? Is that what they
abbreviated that.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Way, the University of Sincida.
Speaker 9 (08:11):
And then if you have you see, then you have
you see Irvine and you see all the other California schools.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
There it's University of Kansas, but we call them KU.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, and then University of Colorado, but we call it
CU correct.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
All right, thank you.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
It's the little things that bother us today, and nothing
should be bothering us. Suns out, guns out, buns out, Kingsawaiian.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Why is it BYU and it's ble no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Niners handled the Giants last night. Man I struggled to
watch that one, like all right, three, three, all right,
maybe maybe something's interesting that's going to happen. And then
all of a sudden, the Niners acted like the Diners
and the Giants acted like the Giants. The Giants have
allowed ninety eight points so far. They have generated zero
(09:02):
turnovers takeaways. Since nineteen sixty there's only one team that's
allowed more points through three games without a takeaway. That
would be the nineteen ninety eight Detroit LIONSO.
Speaker 10 (09:17):
How stead of the day, stall of a day, Statuta Day,
Statuta Day. This is the start of the day.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
St Out of the Day, brought you by Penny America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. The
other big news yesterday the Cowboys lost their talented cornerback,
Trayvon Diggs tore his ACL out for the rest of
the season. And if you're looking at an impact player,
yes we talk about Micah Parsons, and rightfully so. But
since coming into the league in twenty twenty, Diggs has
(09:51):
eighteen interceptions. That's tied for the most over that span.
Also dangerous when he does pick off a pass. He
as two hundred and three interception return yards, third most
over that same timeframe. Also, it felt like they were
throwing at him when he first got into the league,
and now they don't throw at him. You know, Dion
(10:13):
I think won Defensive Player of the Year one year
and he had maybe six interceptions, but they probably threw
his way ten times. Darrell Revas, when you look at
his interception numbers, they stopped throwing his way. So when
you see somebody who has a lot of interceptions, I
always wonder, why did they keep throwing your way to
allow you to get fifty or sixty interceptions? With Dion
(10:35):
was like, we're not going on that side of the field,
or Jarrell Revas and tray Von Diggs not in that
same category. But that's a big loss, you know, when
you start to look at some of the receivers that
you're going to be facing. Week five, the Niners with
Debo and Brandon Ayuk and George Kittle, Chargers, Keenan Allen
in week six, Mike Williams Week eight, maybe Cooper cup
(10:58):
is back, Eagles in week nine, AJ Brown, Devonte Smith
week thirteen, DK Metcalff, Tyler Lot. You know, everybody has
two receivers, AJ Brown, Davante Smith. With the Eagles, they
play the Dolphins, Tyreek Hill, Jalen Waddle. That's a big
(11:19):
loss because they've been leading with their defense. Their defense
has been dominating and maybe the best defense so far.
But now with Trayvon Diggs out, that is a huge
loss for that team.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
All Right, which poll question? We're gonna go with today's Seaton.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
We've got a Pauli special here at NFC. Who you
got poll question? Your options are forty nine Ers, Cowboys,
Eagles other.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
If I'm picking today, I got a fact in factor
in Trayvon Diggs getting hurt. Or I would take the Cowboys.
Rock Purty looks good. Offense, defensive line is good, they
have depth. You know, they've somehow managed to be you know,
(12:07):
still great, and they whift on Trey Lance. They have money,
but they stumbled into Brock Purty. Imagine if they let
him go and they got him in free agency, they
didn't take him with the last pick of the draft. Well,
he would sign a three year deal. Now you have
him for four years, and you have him for four
years at less than four million dollars. This is the
(12:30):
window of opportunity for the forty nine ers this year,
next year, and probably after that. So they got a
three year window because then Rock Purty is going to go,
I think I need to be paid. What if you
do this, if you're the Niners, Let's say you see
Rock Purty play this year, play well, and maybe you
(12:51):
now Jalen Hurts. They're not saying kind of player, but
Jalen Hurts had that you know, coming of age, coming
out party.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
You know he's gonna get paid.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Brock Are you gonna pay Brock Purty fifty million dollars
a year? But let's say in three years you say
to him, or in two years, how about we give
you five for one fifty five years one fifty. So
we're going to give you instead of making a little
over a million dollars in that last year, we're gonna
(13:21):
give you thirty million dollars, and then you give him
a nice signing bonus. Because your window of opportunity is
usually predicated on your quarterback and how much he makes.
Look at teams down through the years that a billion.
You know what Seattle did with Russ Patriots did with
Brady having that ability to cash in literally on a
(13:43):
quarterback who doesn't make money, and you can spread that
out and the forty nine ers have that. I mean,
that's where you can get Christian McCaffrey. You can keep
Deebo Samuel, you can re sign Bosa, you know, George Kittle,
and they do have money under the salary cap.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
This is it.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
You got a two or three year window if you're
San Francisco. Does Dallas have that same two or three
year window? Because Dak got paid, You're gonna have to
pay how much is Michael Parson's gonna get? If you know,
can I restructure Dak? And then what's you know, Michael
Parson's gonna make thirty million dollars a year? So the
(14:24):
window of opportunity Philadelphia had to pay Jalen Hurts. Now,
can you keep some of those other players the offensive
and defensive line, you know? For San Francisco? You have it,
you have it. You have an advantage over everybody right now.
But you have to take advantage of it because that
window doesn't last long.
Speaker 7 (14:43):
Yeah, Pauline, there talk about how little brock perty makes
not compared to the average American, compared to a quarterback
he's making like just over nine hundred thousand this year.
He rooms with one of his linemen. Yeah, he has
a roommate in San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
I thought that was funny when Al goes and this
is how much he makes and he's got a room mate.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
Like Okay, Michah Parsons is making two point five million
dollars this year.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
What a bargain.
Speaker 7 (15:07):
He'll make two point five next year and then the
fifth year option. That's the team option. You know they
could keep him through twenty twenty five. I spell hold out.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
They know they won't let him get there. Yeah, no,
not not.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
With Jerry the season he's having.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Yes, yes, But if you're looking at most valuable, you know,
if you factor in money, which you should, I mean,
Mahomes is getting paid fifty million now he's gonna maybe
get you to another Super Bowl or two. But Rock
Purty is making less than a million dollars and might
get you to a Super Bowl. Now you're asking Mahomes
(15:41):
to do more than Rock Purty and they're not in
the same category except for they play the same position.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
But when you factor in what Michaeh.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Parsons makes and Rock Purty makes, now Michah Parsons is elite.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Rock Purty's not.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
But as far as value goes, my quarterback makes eight
hundred thousand dollars and that allows us to get all
these other players. Micah Parsons, the best defensive player in
the game, is making a little over a million dollars
this year.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Man, that's value.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Having a great player who I went back. I remember
I argued this point when Big Poppy was making five
million dollars playing with the Red Sox and a Rod
I think was making thirty million, and they were up
for MVP, and I said, well, Big Poppy is more
valuable because he's making five million, and if I factor
that in with performance, then he's the MVP. A Rod
(16:37):
had better numbers, but you're paying for those better numbers.
I don't know what I'm trying to say. Yes, seton
what are we going to go with today?
Speaker 1 (16:45):
So yeah, we're gonna go with that one about the NFC.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
But at what point then does it get awkward with
Brock Pardy.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
I would say after this year, if they go to
the NFC title game, if they go to the Super Bowl,
if he wins his Super Bowl, then then you have
to I think address it. The elephant is in the
room and you have to address that. But do you
want to give Brock Purty forty or fifty million dollars?
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Right?
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Rock Purty could not lead, Like if I put Rock
Party on the Bears.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
No, no, no, that's too extreme.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I wouldn't do that to him. But like, Rock Purty
is the right quarterback for this team.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
What if it's just like a three year extension or
something like that, and you get a big bunch of
money right up front.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Okay, let's say I gave him ninety million dollars guaranteed.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, three years.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
And I did that after this season. Now, you don't
have to do that.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
You don't have to.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
That's the thing that's weird. The forty nine ers don't
have to do anything. You don't have to do a
single thing. Until he starts grumbling.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Well that's when you say, hey, we don't have to
do this, but we wanted do this here by.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
The way, being like, you know, I don't make that
much money.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
I have a roommate.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Dude, you make more money than like almost everybody on
the planet.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Let's take a break here. We're just getting started.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
I mean, I have a roommate that's on the little
money where it's like nine hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
We'll take a break. We have our pold question.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Groceries are expensive, thank you today area is not cheap man,
you've seen real estate prices.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
I'm how we take a break. We're gonna take a break.
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
We have taken a break. Thanks for listening to The
Dan Patrick Show podcast. Be sure to catch us live
every weekday morning nine until noon eastern six to nine
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and you can find us
on the iHeartRadio app at FSR or stream us live
on the Peacock app. It's our two. It's a meet Friday.
Morale is high. King's Hawaiian came in Chef Greg and
(18:52):
he's going to create the feast today for lunch, the
Feast to Resistance. And he said, do you mind if
I whip up some breakfast sliders? And I go no, nobody, nobody?
Speaker 11 (19:08):
Man?
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Are these good day? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
And it's sort of an early birthday present for Paulie.
All these birthdays this weekend.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
We didn't say we didn't care.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Yeah, we just had a birthday.
Speaker 9 (19:25):
Yes, Todd, and the Bear's going to win against the
Chiefs on Sunday to.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Ask for something realistic.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
By the way, here is the menu, and once again
I I don't speak Spanish, I did ask Paulie.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
I think you speak at Pekito a little bit.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Uh, carne asada sliders and uh, there's the fog City slider.
Fog City slider has a smoke turkey.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
You're pronounced fog City correctly.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
There, Oh it's it's not fog ay City, fage, It's
foge City.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
The Milford Man Cave lobster slider. Who has it better
than we do? Nobody?
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Oh no, buddy, market price.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
This is the lobster role.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
I'm not taking money out of my pocket.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
How many times have you seen market price on the
menu and then ask about what the market price is?
I've never done it. I usually to shy away from that,
like I'm.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Not ordering that.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
I'm not getting that monkey price.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yeah, market price, I gotta ask.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
I'm not in it, yeah, because it feels like they
might change it right in front of you. They look
at you, and you go, how much are we going
to charge this goofball?
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:40):
That's that's the fifty nine to ninety nine market price? Uh? Okay,
I'm going to bypass that.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
Yes, pulling the lobster role has become almost a delicacy
where you can pay thirty five bucks for that at
some places like Nice Restaurants.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
They have data going back to the nineteen twenties here
in Milford, Connecticut that they had a place that special
in lobster roles, and this was considered a poor man's food,
but lobster roll market price. We have that later today
the Milford Man Cave Lobster slider our thanks to King Sawan.
(21:15):
They came in and they're whipping up. I actually I
have a screen in front of me, and we have
cameras all over the man Cave, and I said, could
you put the camera on the grilling area just so
I can watch these guys. It's not distracting. I mean
it is distracting, but it's I don't care. Just watching
people create things like this. I love this. This is
(21:37):
better than the game last night. Just watching the chef
create some things out on the Traeger grills is better
than what we saw last night.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Yeah, so is the chef currently? Is he the Brock
Party or the Debo more? You know, Christian McCaffrey, I'd say,
is Christian McCaffrey. Ye had a night. Yeah you did.
That's working out.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
You know what happened sometimes with the players that when
they're hit, do they go down or do they get
those extra three or four yards? The Niners debo certainly,
and McCaffrey, I don't know what their numbers are, but
when they get hit after contact, you know, Nick Chubb
was one of the best after contact. I'm sure Derrick
(22:20):
Henry's numbers pretty crazy, But when you get hit, do
you get those extra three or four yards? And it
felt like that you were getting that out of those guys.
Krista McCaffrey had one hundred nineteen scrimmage yards, scored a touchdown.
He scored a touchdown for the twelfth consecutive game if
you include the regular season and the playoffs, and so
(22:42):
that ties in with Jerry Rice for the most in
forty nine ers history. The NFL record consecutive games with
a touchdown, it's a tie fifteen consecutive games. And one
running back did it in the seventies. One running back
did it in the eighties. Anybody want to offer up
(23:06):
a guess, Paul.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Marcus Allen, No, Marvin Eric Dickerson, no back row, Todd,
what about you?
Speaker 3 (23:18):
I was kind of leaning towards Dickerson.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Also, wait, were you listening? I was listening, and what
was the question?
Speaker 12 (23:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
That's twice.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
The exact wording.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
I was texting about it.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Okay, so then you didn't hear me. You didn't hear me,
and then you lied to me.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Something about Christian maccaffery.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
You lied to me.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
It was something Christian mccafrey.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Todd. It was a good question, Todd. This is the
second time this week.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
It's gonna probably happen again.
Speaker 9 (23:54):
Sometimes I'm doing things related to the show and I'm.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Not fully paying attention at a given point.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Okay, it's guaranteed.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
To happen to it.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
I knew that you didn't hear me.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
But it's not because I'm not paying attention to the show.
I'm like, actually do some of that.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
No, No, you're not paying attention to the show. Seaton,
do you have a guess?
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Don't say, Eric Dickerson, Marcus Allen thirteen.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Hey, yeah, do you think it's eleven? All right, let
me try it again.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Roger Craig, No, So the record for games with at
least one touchdown is fifteen am running back in the
eighties and a running back in the seventies, So fifteen
consecutive games these two running backs scored a touchdown.
Speaker 7 (24:39):
Only try one more guest I'm gonna go frank O
Harris in the seventies, ooh, and John Riggins.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
In the eighties. Yes oh, John rigganins Okay, now you're
I'm dying in though the seventies one Tony drssett.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
O J.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Simpson the show whoa Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Instead of the stead of the Day, here comes the
stat of the day, aystat of the days, stat of
the day. Here comes the stat of the day.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Stat of the Day, brought to you by the great
folks at Panini America, the official trading cards of the
Dan Patrick Show. Good morning, if you're watching on Peacock,
our streaming partner or radio affiliates around the country, and
uh operator Tyler standing by for your phone calls, say
lo to those chatting on chat row Yes, sedon.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Do you think that.
Speaker 5 (25:32):
Players like Christian McCaffrey and Deevo Samuel aren't getting tackled
or like they have those those like yards after contact,
because more yack, the more like defensive players they spend
more time trying to punch the ball loose rather than
actually tackling somebody.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Well, form tackling is a lost art.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
You're trying to throw your body at somebody or blow
them up, or trying to go for the ball that
you know, you don't really see too much of that.
But I mean those are great running. You know they're
great runners after the catch and you're seeing that. But
I mean, Debo, Deebo got banged a couple times, but man,
he bounces back, gets up. He didn't go out of bounds.
(26:15):
So I don't know what the yards Oh, Todd wants
to join the show now.
Speaker 9 (26:21):
It wasn't just the yards after the catch. Early in
the game he made a catch. The guys were banging
interim from both sides. To being a holding onto the
ball is another amazing thing that he's able to do.
Be iind just the yards after the catch.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
In the studio, we're talking about Deebo Samuel.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Yeah, Todd is going to visit his daughter at wake
Forest and he has to get out of here early
and uh.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
To make the flight.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
It feels like the door, Yeah, you got your bag
over there, your luggage because I have to pack my
Monday Monday religious holiday.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
You're taking that off.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
I'm just just one big vacation for me on weekends
of getting kidney stones removed.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Oh, here we go.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
I'm on my yachts getting my kidney stone pulled out
of me.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
All right, whole question for hour two all in favor
of letting Todd go to the airport. Now say, I, ah.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
What did we mean like that?
Speaker 9 (27:21):
On a Friday we got sausage egged cheese things and
King Sawaian and then you're like making me feel guilty.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Wait, Paulie said, no, this is good content.
Speaker 7 (27:28):
I want to keep him here another hour and a half.
The way he scattered Todd is great.
Speaker 9 (27:32):
I did realize that trying to get other ten minutes earlier,
that becomes like a thing that I'm like doing the
show an injustice look a horrible thing.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
But you were kind enough to ask me about yesterday.
Speaker 9 (27:43):
You need to leave a little earlier so you don't
miss your flight, which was kind of you. Now it's
become a wow, you can't wait to get out of here.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
You also have a sports centerteees I do, and before
you leave, can we do that? In the final segment
of the showp no because you'll be gone. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
You guys mean by the way, we're doing boy bands today.
We all picked out a song from our favorite boy
bands and that yes, Ma.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
It's so exciting. N Sync was mine, but then I
switched a new edition.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
N sinc.
Speaker 8 (28:13):
Was one of those guilty pleasures of mine. You're driving
around in your car. Oh bye, bye bye. One of
your friends sees you. Oh so, Marv, what are you
doing listening to Biggie lying to my tea.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Yeah, I got snoop on, I'm listening to Tupac, I'm
listening to pac Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
See it was a funny email. I didn't realize that
we're doing this today. So then I got an email
from Marvin that was like, hey, send me your favorite
boy band song.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Yeah, like, uh, I didn't have. Okay.
Speaker 5 (28:42):
My very first thought, honestly was Motley Crue. They're essentially
a boy band on motorcycles. Really, what do you think
about it? Okay, Vince Neil is essentially justin Timberlake of
hair metal in the eighties. Take Yeah, my very first
thought was like, oh, it's out of it.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
That's good. It's got to be Motley Cruze.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
That's good. I didn't have a boy band. I never
was a boy band fan, except for if you said
the Beatles are Jackson five. But then I don't know
if the requirements of the rules, I was allowed to
pick them because it had to be something that was
constructed by somebody where they brought in three or four
or five people from you know, that didn't know each other,
(29:22):
and then they collaborated.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
And listen, Yes, ton, the Jackson.
Speaker 9 (29:25):
Five and the Beatles, they're not cheesy to me, and
I can't speak for like nine year old girls, but
they have to be some kind of cheese ball effect
by some people looking at them, like with their moves
and everything.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
To make it a boy band, you need that.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
But the Beatles could have been cheesy, the early Beatles She.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Loves You, Yeah, yeah, yeah, she loves you yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
I know that can't be bad.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Right, I want to hold your hand. That could be
cheesy boy band topics. You know, Jackson five, same thing,
and then they developed. But I would have put them
in in the boy band, but that's not the song
that I picked for my boy bend.
Speaker 7 (30:01):
Yes, I think you could put Jackson five in because
they were created by the family, you know. They placed
people in different roles. They made Michael the youngest the
featured artist, and they were very young when they were hitting.
I mean, Michael Jackson was a household name at twelve,
I mean deeply.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
All right, Todd, you want to do your Sports Center tease,
let's do it. Okay, do we have some music there?
Marvion here we got.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Coming up on Sports Center? Can you smell what the
brock is cooking? Party continues to produce.
Speaker 9 (30:33):
Things get a bit punchy in Santa Clara. So why
wasn't Trent Scents packing the Bears QB through some arrows
and his coaches? Will we be pointing fingers that fields
an arrowhead digs this? A dominant defensive force in Dallas
is done? Will the Bengals have their QB Monday night
versus the Rams? Or well they burrow their heads in
the sand.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
The buck guys are right ready to fight. The Irish
will not to dame South Bend but not break on Saturday.
Speaker 9 (30:54):
Stay in your lane will be another swing in an
old miss for kipping per Saban.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Also, do you believe things will be just.
Speaker 9 (31:00):
Ducky for Colorado and Eugene or we'll already gonna have
Prime's number.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Our should doors wide open, so come inside Sports Center.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Nat, pretty good. Our schoudure is shure doors wide open open.
Sports Thank you to. We should ask the SPN to
use one of those.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
You know what, We got some friends over there still
do yeah, tons of friends. How about Randy Yeah rand
O kay.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Yeah, we can ask Randy Scott. Yeah Randall Kay Scott,
maybe he could do that.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
You guys are just making fun of us. We don't
do play on words and things like that. I don't
know where you get that from.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Wait, do they still do teases though? Oh yeah, oh
yeah Sports Center teaser?
Speaker 7 (31:35):
Sure, okay, And we know a guy who helps write
this port Oh yeah, you're your brother.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
He used to he's in a different department, but he
used to do that for anymore.
Speaker 9 (31:44):
No, he he's like filming the commercials with the athletes
and stuff for like movies when they show those.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Like movie promos.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Moving on up.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Thank you, Ton, Thank you for I enjoy doing that. Yeah,
thanks for humoring me. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
By the way, we did the gambling pod yesterday. Dan
Patrick takes a gamble. It's Shaye and Irving bad Larry
and Dylan the graphics guy and uh Shaye touches on
a variety of topics, usually his marriage, if he's on
the wagon or not, his his background, times he's spent
(32:17):
in jail. And so here's a little bit of Shay
and Irving on the podcast yesterday. You know, when I
walked in here today, I saw a little nip of
a fireball.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Gross Is Dylan discussed it was on the floor.
Speaker 5 (32:33):
We went out and got our usual white claws and
men do like men do, and men.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Also get a nip of fireball.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Give me that.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Let me just.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
You're not allowed to say anything. SHA's not drinking at all. No, yes, Shay.
You know, I pause for a reason because he had
a white claw and he was going to open it up.
And then I just like, all right, you're gonna bust
(33:05):
yourself here. But he tells me that, you know, things
have never been better with the roommate. The cowboys are
playing well and he's in a great place.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
Yes se My mom met Shaye and Irving yesterday and
she invited him over. She was like, my mom, she
lives in Long Beach Island in New Jersey, and.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
She was like, I just spent the summer there.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
I was just down there or whatever he's like, and
you know, he's doing his whole Shaye thing.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
And she went, well, why didn't you come over? You
should have stopped by next time you're there, come over,
we'll have dinner. Oh boy, that is a combo right there,
Shaye and my mom. I think it.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
I think I'm going to his house next Wednesday to
have dinner, fun and do his podcast and his you know,
his wife is going to make us dinner. And I
wanted to make sure that they were on good terms
because I didn't know if I could trust her, if
she was making dinner for us, what she might do.
And he said, no, you know, Danny, three weeks we're
doing well. And I said, all right, then I'll maybe
(33:59):
go over there stay make a pot roast. Yeah, all right,
break here.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Did we come up with a pole questions? Yeah, we
have one. How do you like your orange juice? Pulp?
Some pulp?
Speaker 2 (34:13):
No pooh, okay, nobody's doing that one, No, buddy. College
Football Weekend. We'll look at some of the bigger matchups,
and then we have a new segment pauling.
Speaker 7 (34:25):
The mmwg OTW the most must win Game of the Week.
We did this last week, Dan, it's flying off the shelves.
Mmwg otw Okay, all right, let's take a break.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
We have a lot to get to Todd Blackledge, the
former quarterback. He is going to be on the call
with Notre Dame in Ohio State. He'll join us a
little bit later on take a break back after this.

It's me three time pro bowler LeVar Arrington and I
couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast called Up

Speaker 1 (35:11):
What is Up on Game?
Speaker 13 (35:12):
You assd along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Huschman
Zada and Super Bowl champion Yup. That's right, Plexico Burris.
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Up on Game.
Speaker 13 (35:25):
We're going to be sharing our real life experiences loaded
with teachable moments. Listen to Up on Game with Me
LeVar Arrington, TJ Hutschman Zada and Plexico Burrs on the
iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast problem.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
It's more phone calls. Todd Blackledge set to join us.
He'll be doing the game. He'll join us from South Bend.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Here.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
In a moment, I was curious what Nick Saban's stats
are in September in his coaching career since king over
at Alabama two thousand and seven.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Sixty two and four, sixty two and four.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
In September twenty seven and oh in September from twenty
sixteen through twenty twenty two.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
That's twenty seven and zero.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Prior to November first, Nick Saban's record is one hundred
and twenty one and eight. But if ole miss wins,
so now you got two losses. Does it become a thing?
If Clemson loses.
Speaker 7 (36:34):
That's a good way of saying it. It becomes a
thing thing, Yeah, because we're big on things. Colorado is
a thing. You're not going to get fired, but it's
a thing right.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
By the way.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Aj mccheron will join us coming up on Monday, the
former Alabama quarterback. Also we were wondering about this. Michaeh
Parsons right now? Is League MVP all right?
Speaker 6 (36:59):
Now?
Speaker 2 (36:59):
I know Tua is the favor to win the MVP
according to DraftKings. I don't know where Michael Parsons is
on that list. We've had the defensive player win the
MVP the overall MVP twice. I think Lawrence Taylor and
Allen Page.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
They don't make the vote totals public, so I don't
know where JJ Watt finished any of those years. He
was the defensive Player of the Year, and it always
felt like that was sort of the cop out like pitchers, Hey,
you got the cy young, you shouldn't be up for MVP,
And I disagree. I think there have been cases when
pitchers were the most valuable player.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Do you have the current odds on MVP? Yeah, unless
I'm gonna check. I'm checking a few sites.
Speaker 7 (37:41):
I don't have Michael Parsons in the top ten, and
I got Tua, Mahomes, Josh Allen, the usuals, the usual suspects.
That's it seems like almost like it's they shuffle defenders
to defensive MVP. Yeah, but I mean he's not replaceable.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
He's even more important now with Trayvon Diggs going down, right,
I would think.
Speaker 7 (38:03):
I think you can get Micah Parsons that, like, he's
twelfth in the MVP odds on the hot places we see.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
How is that possible? Now?
Speaker 2 (38:12):
Okay, I can make a case that a quarterback has
more of an impact any of these quarterbacks. Brock perty
has more of an impact on a game because he's
the quarterback. But Micah Parsons, as far as people who
make plays, is the most valuable player right now? Right,
I mean the Jets defensive coordinator came out and said,
(38:34):
we underestimated how fast he was.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Did you not watch film? Could you make.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
The case that he would be harder to replace than
two would be with Miami because whatever quarterback took over
for two would still have hill and waddle. Yeah, I
know it's your splitting hairs, but it's closer than being
ranked twelfth the MVP.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
I want to play with, Andy Staples said yesterday, Andy
was on he covered college football the website is and one,
and he was talking about I wanted him to compare
Justin Fields and Brock Purty with Justin Fields coming out
of Ohio State and where the receivers are always open,
and then Brock Purty playing at Iowa State where he
(39:16):
had to sometimes throw his receivers open. So here's a
portion of what Andy Staples had to say comparing Justin
Fields to Brock Purty.
Speaker 12 (39:25):
I think that's that's going to be the question until
one of them kind of breaks out and becomes a success.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
In the NFL. Is are they not asked to do
the things that they need to do?
Speaker 12 (39:35):
And the other just obvious thing with Ohio State quarterbacks,
their receivers are so much better than everyone else. There's
a different kind of open at Ohio State than somewhere else.
Like I'll give you an example, brock Purty's receivers at
Iowa State weren't nearly as open as Justin Field's receivers.
That so Brock Purty had to learn to fit it
in there. Justin Fields, for the most part, had somebody
(39:58):
wide open.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
It's Andy Staples.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
I had not heard that, and I really like that analogy,
that comparison that he had.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
Let's bring in Todd Blacklitch.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
He played the position when a national title at Penn State,
former NFL quarterback, and he will be their NBC Big
Ten Saturday Night, South Bend. It'll be Catherine Tappan, Noah
Eagle Todd will be in the booth with them, and
the festivities start tomorrow night. It's seven thirty Eastern on
NBC and Peacock Todd. Let me start there with what
(40:27):
Andy Staples was saying, the challenge of coming into the
NFL where quarterbacks have receivers open as opposed to a
quarterback whole has to throw his receivers open.
Speaker 6 (40:40):
Yeah, that's a pretty interesting point.
Speaker 11 (40:42):
I mean, you still have to have basic mechanics and
fundamentals to be an accurate thrower, you know, even if
you don't have to fit in all tight windows and
you have guys getting over. Yeah, that's still have to
put the ball on the right spot. I think in
the case of a brock party. He also, you know,
he didn't necessarily have the ability to run, extend plays,
(41:02):
do all that kind of things the way Justin Fields does,
and so he had to make sure that he was
good with his timing, good with his accuracy, good with
his anticipation, just to you know, to be good period
as a college quarterback. And certainly that's translated well for
him in the NFL too.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
So what's Justin Field's issue?
Speaker 6 (41:24):
You know, I haven't watched enough to know.
Speaker 11 (41:26):
I mean, obviously it seemed like he and the offensive
staff need to be on the same page. You know,
they need to understand, Okay, these are the things I do. Well,
let's build around that, these are the things I don't like,
and they just need to get on the same page
and make sure that they are calling plays that he
(41:46):
can be successful at and that he feels confident and comfortable.
Speaker 6 (41:49):
And so, you know, I think it's a combination.
Speaker 11 (41:53):
I think it's him maybe, you know, locking in a
little bit more and becoming more accurate and more in
tune to what it takes to be a high level quarterback.
And then I think the coaching staff and the play
calling need to work in conjunction with him in a
higher way.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
How much of an advantage is Sam Hartman's age.
Speaker 6 (42:13):
I think it's a huge advantage.
Speaker 11 (42:14):
I mean, in fact, just watching him on the practice
field and just you know, his presence, it reminds me
of the presence Stetson Bennett had with Georgia the last
two years. An older guy. Now, Sam had way more
playing experience than Stetson Bennett, you know, but it's just
that maturity that you know, You're in a locker room
with a lot of eighteen, nineteen twenty year old kids,
(42:36):
and here's a guy who's played fifty games at the
Division one level, the Power five level, and so he's
got the beer. To me, he looks older, you know,
and he acts older, and I think, I think that's
a calming presence on that football team.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
How good is Marvin Harrison?
Speaker 11 (42:52):
He's as good as I've seen, I mean, you know,
and I've seen some great Alabama wide receivers, some outstanding
players at Ohio State before him, I don't know that
I've seen anybody any better than than Marvin. I mean,
he is the complete package. I mean, he's big, he's
extremely fast, he runs great routes, he has excellent hands,
(43:13):
and and I just think the ceiling for him is
is still out there. I think when he gets to
the next level, you know, he'll be an even better player.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
But is there a comparison we always like comps. Is
he Larry Fitzgerald or is he a Randy Moss or Yeah.
Speaker 11 (43:27):
I would say probably closer to Randy Moss, uh, you know,
in my in my opinion, because of the speed, you know,
and because he does have that outstanding speed that you know,
the long speed and top on top of you know,
the quickness and the route running, which I think is
the route running and a lot.
Speaker 6 (43:44):
Of the nuances of being a wide receiver.
Speaker 11 (43:47):
He got from his dad, you know, and was taught
because Marvin Senior was an outstanding receiver and route.
Speaker 6 (43:52):
Runner Hall of Famer.
Speaker 11 (43:54):
But but Marvin Junior is a bigger body, and typically
it's harder for bigger body guys to be intricate route runners.
And so that to me is one of the things
that makes him very special.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
Todd Blackledg will be on the call NBC. It'll be
Big ten Saturday night. It'll be Ohio State at Notre
Dame and that'll be starting at seven thirty Eastern on
NBC in Peacock. How sustainable is what Dion's doing at Colorado?
Speaker 11 (44:21):
Well, you know, at this point, I'd hate to bet
against him, you know, or say that he can't do anything,
because it's amazing when he's done so far.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
You know.
Speaker 11 (44:31):
The only thing I don't know, and because I've not
covered one of his games, so I don't know the
quality of depth that he has on his roster.
Speaker 6 (44:37):
And that's the thing. You worry about.
Speaker 11 (44:39):
You know, as a season goes on and you start
playing conference games, you get some guys dinged up. What's
your depth like on your offense and defensive lines in particular,
That's the biggest question I have. You know, they're already
without Travis Hunter, who is electrifying. They're going to be
without him for you know, potentially for a game or two.
But so but in terms of how well coached they
(45:03):
are and the level that they execute at, I think
I think they can compete with anybody right now. And
I think Shador Sanders is in a conference full of
great quarterbacks, you know what, the conference formerly known as
the Pac twelve.
Speaker 6 (45:19):
I mean, he fits right in that mold.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
NIL or transfer portal having a bigger impact on college football.
Speaker 6 (45:30):
I think I think the NIL.
Speaker 11 (45:33):
I think both for sure, but I think the NIL
because at least of the transfer portal, it's like everybody's
playing with the same deck of cards, and with the NIL,
it's it's kind of all over the place, you know,
and some places are doing more with it, some are
doing less, Some are allowed to do more, some are
allowed to do less, And so I think there's there's
(45:56):
more inequities you know right now because there's no real
oversight on it from a national perspective.
Speaker 6 (46:03):
So I think it's having a bigger impact right now
than the portal.
Speaker 11 (46:07):
But from the standpoint of redoing a roster and reshaping
a team, you can get a lot done with the portal,
and instead of having to wait on high school kids
to develop, you can go find guys that have, you know,
the resume on tape of playing at that level and
plug and play a lot easier.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
Well, you have these old school coaches like Dabo Sweeney.
He didn't believe in you know, nil. You know, the
anti transfer portal. You know at some point you know,
don't I don't know. Can you survive without embracing NIL
and transfer portal?
Speaker 8 (46:47):
No?
Speaker 11 (46:47):
And you know, I know Dabo has not wanted to
really do a lot with the transfer portal. I do
know they have NIL stuff going on at Clemson because
I've you know, done a couple of games and I
know some of the things that they're doing. But no,
I think you have to embrace all those things because
we're not going back to anything different. We're not going
(47:08):
back to the way it was the transfer portal was here. Uh,
you know, they they will tweak it in terms of
how many windows there are and how long those windows
are where kids can jump in and out of the portal.
But we're not going away from that, and NIL is
not going anywhere either. In fact, it'll probably just continue
to grow.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Could you imagine Joe Paterno, Woody Hayes, bo schen Beckler
embracing Ni l No.
Speaker 11 (47:34):
Yeah, it's it would probably be enough to drive them
out of the game. You know, I don't think that
they would would want to be in the game with
the kind of stuff that that coaches have to deal
with now, because you know, managing a roster is nothing
like it used to be used to those old school coaches.
They'd recruit a kid red shirt most of their freshmen,
(47:54):
have them for five years, you know, and build their
roster that way. Those days are way way on.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Great to talk to you is always have fun.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
On Saturday night, Thank you, Todd, Thanks Dan, take care
Todd Blacklitch. He'll be on the call with Noah Eagle,
Catherine Tappan. It'll be Notre Dame in Ohio State Saturday,
seven thirty eastern on NBC in Peacock. All right, from
a perception standpoint, how important is this game for Notre
Dame now you're hosting Ohio State. It was a good
(48:23):
game last year in Columbus. What was the final score polling?
Speaker 1 (48:26):
That was to open the season. It was a really
good first half.
Speaker 7 (48:29):
They lost twenty one to ten, and then they followed
it up with that Wonky lost to Marshall the next week. Yeah,
Notre Dame last year, if they had a quarterback, they
had a bunch of close games that you know, a coupled.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
They lost to Stanford just last year. I know, well
they got a quarterback. So you're saying it's with Notre Dame.
If they win it, people look at them differently.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
I think so, yeah, even if they keep it close.
But you know, these are the games if you're going
to be an elite team. You know you're playing a
great team, but you got to win these games. It's
sort of like jacksonvilleains Kansas City, where I'm like, Okay,
are they going to take that next step? Is Trevor
Lawrence going to take that next step? Then win that game?
(49:08):
And they didn't play well at all, But you got
Sam Hartman who's twenty four, and the moment's not going
to be too big for him. But I just don't
know how good Notre Dame is Ohio State always going
to have weapons, always, they're going to have more talent.
But Notre Dame at home got to win these games.
But I think perception wise, is it going to be yeah,
(49:29):
same Notre Dame, or is it going to be you
know what? They went toe to toe and won that game, Yeah,
Pauling and if.
Speaker 7 (49:35):
They can win it Notre Dame, that sets up home
October fourteenth, USC.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
Yeah, all right, let's take a break. If you're watching
on Peacock and why why would you be? Of course
because America is I don't know if I said that
the right way. If you're watching on Peacock, why wouldn't
you be? You can see the feast or resistance that
people from Kings Hawaiian came in, took over the triggers,
(50:00):
and we are going to go out and sample what
they have made for us. We'll come back. Last call
for phone calls? Wait, where's Fritzy? Did he go to
the airport route to oh See out early to make
sure he gets his Okay, Fritzy is on the road
all right, getting started. He's got Monday off he's got
the Jewish holiday all right, okay,
