Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello and welcome Awaken Jake. Thank you guys so much
for tuning in. Myself Jake Store Ellie at Talkin' Jake
BBD producing his buns off. And if you guys are
listening on YouTube, subscribe or podcasts or wherever, we appreciate
you tuning in today. I think I'm gonna put a
final bow on a baseball topic until probably November. And
(00:23):
it's the last kind of check in on the free
agent class as we've got a couple guys heading towards
the finish line, couple opt in opt out situations, and
I always love looking at the position availability because if
you're one of the eight teams coming into free agency
that says I need a catcher and there's only two
(00:45):
catchers available, the math ain't mathing. As the fellas say,
speaking of that, had a boy dinner last night, chicken
wings and meatballs.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
That's tough.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
That's tough. Can't keep that up. And then we'll dive
into the weekend that will be NFL football, see what
we like, See if anything jumps out to us, let's
run through it. This free agent class will be headlined
by one Man, one Sodo, but there's some good starting pitching.
(01:18):
There's a couple other bodies out there, and I think
of note, Matt Chapman was going to be a part
of this free agency class and he signed a six year,
one hundred and fifty one million dollar meal to stay
in San Francisco, the San Francisco Treat. If you will,
happy for Matt Chapman, you guys, I think I did
(01:38):
it on here with Matt Chapman. I think there's some
Marcus Simeon parallels, and now I've done it on every platform.
But I remember going back and looking at his player
page and it's a little inverted. Like Marcus Simeon pretty
much got better every year. Matt Chavian got like slightly worse.
But you've got defense first, hard workers that have an
(02:00):
offensive tool, and good for San Francisco. I mean, people
were wondering will Matt Chaman hit in that park? Will
Matt Chaman hit he has He's gonna end up having
like close to a seven war season. Uh, he gets
his money that he there was a chance he was
never gonna get Giants get another cornerstone piece to build around. Uh.
(02:22):
So with that, there's a couple funny opt in opt
out guys along the way. But let's go around the horn.
That's the best way to do it. In baseball, Let's
start with the catcher position. Who needs a catcher? Not
my Yankees anymore. Hello, it's always thin. Uh, it's rare.
(02:43):
You look at the catcher position and you're like, oh,
massive crop this year.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
For sure, big group of for sure starters.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
You've got a young guy, you kind of try to
lock them up. And if you got an older guy,
it's really tough to be good at catcher. As father
time kicks in a.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Position, it just most naturally lends itself to some splitting
time and platooning.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
And I think what you're gonna find is not a lot. Yeah,
Travis Darna maybe your leader in the clubhouse this year,
as he's been the backup to Sean Murphy. But Sean
Murphy did list miss a chunk of time this year.
(03:26):
Travis darnat positive ops plus the war is positive. He
will get a job if he wants to play baseball
next year. He's thirty five. Turn a nice little career
out of it. Brother Chase A lot of energy ended
up at the old Bronx office for a day. People
forget that fifty three million in his basement. Braves do
(03:46):
have an eight million dollar team option, and they may
just pick that up. So it might not be Travis Darno,
which I think then would bring it to Danny Janssen,
who I don't know. He had some offensive numbers the
past two seasons that were pretty nice, well respected defensive catcher.
He got traded to Boston, hasn't seen a ton of
(04:06):
success there. And yeah, I mean, I think I'm gonna
slow down before I pick up because the other names
that quote unquote jump off the sheet. Gary Sanchez catcher
DH type option for your team, Elias Diaz, who the
Rockies released after don't get me started on that. And
(04:27):
then you're looking at James McCann, Carson Kelly doing some things.
Here's what I'll tell you. If you need an impact
catcher this year, like a lot of years.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Not really the year, sorry about it, might be guy
I got a trade for.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Have Austin Wells. Okay, he's too excited. First base, on
the other hand, gets a little more interesting. Paul Goldschmidt.
You had the old bull, now you want the young calf.
He will hit free agency. Kind of a meh year
in saying lewis all around for him and the team.
(05:02):
I think he still got more in there, building a
Hall of Fame case and a low expectation Paul Goldschmidt,
whether that's on Saya Houston Astros, or say maybe a
return to Arizona for a year, because Christian Walker is
a big free agent might be the free Well I
(05:23):
was gonna say the first baseman gets the most money.
I still think that's gonna be Pistol Pete. But already,
look what we're talking about. Christian Walker has sneaky been
one of the best two way first basemen for a while.
He's been killing it. This year he missed a little
bit of time, dude injury. I already hear Mets fans
excited about him as the replacement. I've heard New York fans,
(05:44):
even the Yankees getting involved because Anthony Rizzo has a
club option for next year. That unless Anthony has some
serious heroics this October, which I won't rule out, who
am I I don't think they're going to pick up
his seventeen million dollar team option, which is closer to
(06:04):
eleven mil, because he has a six million dollar buyout.
That's good agenting.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
I want that buyout even and yeah, even if they
I think he's were to reject that, they could just think, like, well,
we might be able to bring him back on six
million or whatever that number would be. Verse eleven gets tricky.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
You let a guy to go to free, like if
the eighties wanted him at that fake twelve eleven million number.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
A technically eleven million.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
I think it's over. I think it's fun. But hey, October,
do something and we'll talk about that. I mentioned Pete
Alonzo a little too flippantly. Uh, Pee Alonzo will be
one of the bigger contracts given out this offseason. He
is at thirty one homers. He's at a one to
twenty three ops plus seven eighty nine, which those might
(06:55):
feel a little low, but offense was down this year
and it's not really far off from Pete. Pete is
a career one thirty four ohps plus, So a fun
couple weeks for Pete. If he has a heater, he's
gonna be just in line with his career numbers. If
he has a little bit of a slow poke finish,
(07:18):
all the numbers won't be there. But I still don't
think it's enough to hurt his free agency. We've talked
about a little bit on here before, like Pete Alonso
in his power as a free agent. He's had a
better second half than a first half. He had a
really strong August. He's limping in September September a little bit,
(07:39):
But a team's gonna go pay for Pete. Some of
the most natural power. I'm actually not gonna say natural power.
Well no, because then if I say unnatural power, that
sounds like steroids. Pete's just beefy. He swings big, It's America,
it's the home run Derby.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
He swings for homers.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
He loves the fourth of July. I bet it's Pete Alonzo.
So with all of that being in there, and there's
even accent pieces. Ryan O'Hearn's been really good for the Orioles.
Josh Bell is whatever team loses out on these guys
and has six million dollars to spend. Welcome Josh Bell,
(08:21):
Rowdy Teles. Let me check where Rowdy's numbers are. But
I did see him hit a big homer the other day.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Peel like he's found moments on some homers this year.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
But yeah, it's not the team that loses. Josh Bell yes,
your your six million. Gave it to Josh Bell. Here's
two and a half for rowdy. Sorry to put numbers
on these guys like this. Carlos Santana gonna win the
Gold Glove hit twenty dangers. So I guess this was
one of the good examples of the exercise. If you
(08:50):
need a second baseman, excuse me, first baseman, you've got options.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
There's tears.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I don't think I even mentioned Rhys Hoskins, who is
on my all disappointing team, which he's ah, it's gonna
say he played his way out of It's a ninety
two oh ps plus what's.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Just think that's just ain't traditionally Reese.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
So it's a player option next year for eighteen m.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
And Orm'll buy out fourteen million dollar decision.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
I'm Reese. I might snag that bad boy.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Just take care, don't have to think about it.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Full year of health, don't have to think about it.
So maybe he's out there, maybe he's not. But first base,
if your team has some needs there, we can figure
that out. We can figure that out. Second base, labor
Torres Hello, looking at a little pop in your lineup,
looking to get a little frustrated with your defense. Uh,
(09:45):
it's gonna be an interesting free agency to watch. Glabor
can't hit. I don't know how many teams are willing
to sacrifice a position like second base, especially without defensively,
especially without shifts like I don't know, man. Uh, there's
going to be a team that buys into Glabor tours
(10:06):
either at the top of their lineup or as an
amazing depth hitter that will talk themselves into Glaber. But defensively, man,
I feel like a lot of smart front offices don't
sacrifice defense at a lot of positions, and second base,
I know that's supposed to be one that you can.
(10:28):
But let's see where glaber season number lands, because as
I mentioned, Glaber has been hot recently. He's retaken the
lead off spot for the Yankees. His numbers are gonna end. Uh,
they'll be close to net positive depending how he finishes.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
If he can get get just a little hotter the
rest of the way, he can fully say like, had
a good second half.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
If he plays like he's been playing, he'll be fine.
But yeah, I was going through that the other day,
and that's this is what I'll start to ask the
people sound off in the comments on waking jq tupe
subscribe again, what is your team gonna be looking at
like there's there could be some team that's listening to
this and just laughing. You're like, wait, I can sign
Glaber Torres for two for twenty. I don't know what
(11:12):
the numbers are.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Are you gonna get funky an options? What's he gonna want?
Speaker 1 (11:16):
But you're telling me I can have Glabor Torres hit
seventh and play second base. I could have Glabor hit
leadoff for my team. I don't know how many people
are excited about that when they see his two fifty
two three twenty nine. He is having a a big
second half after having a horrid start. A guy who
I don't think you're gonna see but could be an
(11:36):
interesting trade option, Brandon low from your Tampa Bay Rays.
His season numbers have ended up pretty good, uh after
missing some time. He has a ten million dollar club
option with another ten or after that feels like a
funky Ray's trade piece. Feels like the Rays could pay
some rookie seven hundred k get similar war, while some
(12:00):
team could trade for Brandon Lowe and have a serious
power hitting second basement. He has seventeen homers in ninety
one games. This year, he had twenty one and one
oh nine a one to twenty four oh ps plus
like Brandon Lowe as a lefty hitter, can hit. He's
been banged up the past couple years. It would be
(12:23):
very raise to trade him basically at the value of
a ten million with a player or team option that
teams would fancy flexibility and yeah, he can move around
a little bit. While the Rays could see a potentially
injury prone player that we could replace for a twentieth
(12:44):
of the price and still get similar contributions. Uh, could
see him on your team's second base needs wants list
this year. Some other names out there, Jorge Polanco, someone
will be believe in, like a rehab project. Uh and
why not? I mean go look at taoscar also a
(13:05):
free agent au Hennio, like getting out of Seattle hitting wise,
can do the can do the body good that someone
will talk themselves into switch hitting. Jorge Polanco, who's numbers
aren't good, but they're not atrocious atrocious. He's hit fourteen homers.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
On a on like a as a Bilow candidate two
oh ps plus, Like he'll he'll get a gig and
it'll be like a sneaky bidding war to get get
his abilities.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
With Mayorfield, Adam Fraser, Brandon Drury, Wilmer, Flores, you're starting
to get deeper into.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I don't know if ants.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
I don't know, if you love the move for your team,
If you're penciling them in as the starting second baseman,
as a depth piece, you're like, yeah, Drey can play anywhere.
Flores second base, you have options. I'll go to shortstop
because it'll be tighter. And a guy that's listed as
a second baseman, but if I was his agent, I
(14:09):
would advertise him as a shortstop. It's Has song Kim.
They have a mutual option. Ha Song Kim Ha Song
Kim A Song Kim two point six war on the season,
the offensive numbers are right around league average, which they
more or less have been the past two years. I
(14:31):
guess they've been slightly better. Twenty two stolen bases he
had thirty eight the year before, and one the Gold
Glove at second base this year or did he win
the utility gold Gloves either way, gold Glove winner this
year he's been at shortstop. There's not a lot of
(14:52):
shortstops out there. Has Soong Kim passes the eye test
of canny play shortstop with the backup of being able
to play the other infield positions.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
He will be twenty nine years old in free agency,
he's racked up some more. There's gonna be a team
that likes Has Song Kim.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Maybe it's even San Diego still figuring something out, but
not a lot of shortstops hit free agency that Hassan
Kim is gonna have some serious bitters on him. Play
some defense, slap it around a little bit, get the
stadium cheering for you. One of the big winners of
this season and soon to be the off season, maybe
the postseason. Willi Adamas slick Willie three point Willi Adamas,
(15:37):
he uh I just lost his page, got it back
Willy Damas three war on the season and eight h
four ops for a one to twenty one ops, thirty homers,
one hundred and two RBI, eighteen steals. So you're gonna
be looking at a thirty twenty one hundred plus run
driven in shortstop. Still plays the position well. Williadamas is
(16:02):
going to get a contract from someone. He leads the
NL and RBI. I know we I know RBI has
fallen off a little bit.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
They're still good, still a good thing.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
You might be looking at one hundred mil in Williadamas's basement,
but that's kind of it. So if you're a team
talking about shortstop, you either need to have probably one
hundred mil to go get Willia Damas to play your
shortstop for the next three four years, or you're going
(16:37):
for Hassan Kim or that's I mean, Miggey Roe has
a club option that we think is getting picked up
at this point because he's been good this year.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
These guys that you'd love to not be the plan.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Garrett Hampson is listed no offense to Young. I think
he might be third. I don't know if Rosario is
a shortstop. At this point. There's two shortstops, and if
you're a team that doesn't give out one hundred MILLI contracts,
there's one shortstop. And that kind of feels like one
(17:15):
of those guys that San Diego reaches into the couch
cushions and figures out because they love has sun Kin.
But they are a team of shortstops. I did shortstop
because third base might be even thinner with Matt Chapman signing.
It looks like it's Bregman. Forty year old Justin Turner.
(17:37):
Au Henio Suarez club option is gonna get picked up.
After he had a brutal start to the season. He's
now at a one sixteen ops plus twenty six homers
ninety RBI. If he keeps trending up, he's gonna be
thirty and one hundred Mariners. I tried to tell you,
(17:58):
I tried to tell you. I know he strikes out.
An Suarez can hit, plays a decent hot corner. They
like calling him Gino on the broadcast. M good for
a Henno Suarez. Good for my snakes, who I will
report are probably picking up that fifteen million dollar team
(18:20):
option for another year of him at third base.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Did I mention forty year old Justin Turner. Jon Moncata
has a club option that should get shot down. That'll
be a fun rehab project. Yeah, somebody will take a
chance on. That's either going to be what A's red Sox. Yeah,
someone will believe. And I still have a little young
(18:47):
Moncada sock. I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Otherwise it's Urshela JD. Davis after him. It quickly becomes
guys that again, like you don't want that to be
the plan.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Maybe the best thing for Alex Bregman was Chapman signing
that contract, because it's almost like we said, I don't
want to say set a floor. Yeah, but there's one
if you're looking for if your team needs an impact
third baseman, there is one Uno my Salsa Reggie and yeah,
(19:19):
whole left side of the infield. You got like two
and a half options, depending if you count Hassan Kim
as a shortstop. So that's one of those free agency
tricks where it's like, hey, it's free agency, we got
to fix up this roster. Yeah, the second you see
two teams that need third basemen, you've gone too far. Sure,
(19:41):
there's a trade market, there's always prospects in everything.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
But if you're if you're a short step team, and
then maybe one of the third base teams is thinking
about Hassan Kim.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Over there, are you liking Brandon Drury at third? That's
the infield. So the all free agent team, which is
one of my favorite Twitter posts every year, I mean,
it might be Gary a catcher. The catcher situation really
really not too hot to trot star.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Old Gary Haigey, Danny Jansen, Darnel Jiggy. Your candidates.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Uh, you can put Alonso at first.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
People would like that, well, Christian Walker, put Labzo dh
maybe Glibber eh, hooray Polanco. Let's see where their numbers finish.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Gregg and Willie Damas will look nice on the graphic,
but again, those are one team, one team each the outfield,
we have pieces and even pieces that you could be
excited about for some of the second tier teams. Let's
start out at the top. Juan Soto. Oh, he just
(20:52):
breaking news he resigns with the Yankees. I hope otherwise
I'll be very sad. But Jan Soto will get the
biggest free agent contract this offseason. Will Otani have set
any precedent of the deferred money being interesting to make
your grand total look bigger. We get excited for Bobby
(21:13):
Benia Day. We're gonna have a lot of time to
talk about that. Unfortunately, the second name nay list, which
is funny because I thought this was an alphabetical order,
but it's not. I have no idea what order they
put this in. Shout out to MLB dot com. Maybe
it's like career war, is it? Did they just put
(21:33):
their opinion out there? See if you can crack the
code BBD the outfield. Cody Bellinger's listed next. We are
thinking he's gonna opt in. Uh, he's on for twenty
seven and a half mil next year. He's got a
little over one war the ops plus ain't up there
too much. Wouldn't be surprised if he's an opt in.
(21:56):
Are you cracking the code over there?
Speaker 2 (21:58):
My just immedia guess is that that would be based
on like estimated, like guess for the what the next
contract will be worth.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
But like Goldie in front of Alonso, I don't know.
I'm gonna get a look back at future spots. I'm
gonna get over to spot. Let's see CONFORDO. Sure your
team signs him. You'll talk yourself into something. Tyler O'Neill, same,
Jack Peterson mutual option. I don't know. Maybe he likes
(22:30):
the desert. Who knows where Jock's at. If he's a
free agent and you're a team that needs hitting, sign him,
no questions asked.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
There's a lot more rightis and left. He's on the bump.
He hits those guys and.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
I'm gonna report this now. Jock is hitting free agency.
It's a fourteen mil mutual option unless he likes the desert,
which Jack is his own cat dude four oh four
on base from Jock A nine forty one ohps. He
(23:02):
has been one of the best hitters in baseball. Your
team could have had them they signed Mitch Garver. I'm sorry,
Seattle fans. I didn't want to say that. I like
Mitch Garver. But Jack Peterson has hit at every stop.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Good news, bad news, three million dollar buyout on that,
so on jockson, he just has to beat eleven million.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Yeah, I mean, Jock, I'm gonna he's it. Mutual options
exist to be declined unless there's some Arizona magic this
this October, which don't rule it out either side. Both
sides have a little funk.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
This feels like one of the times that's like this
could be the.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Perfect story, even like come to the table and agree
on like a two year deal for twenty eight Like
I could see that if Jock becomes available, your team
needs to sign him if they need hitting, because that's
all he does. Lord of Scuriel Junior has an opt out.
Maybe the Snakes will just pair those together. I don't
(24:07):
think he will. Taoscar Hernandez has done it right. He
left Seattle. He's been one of the best hitters in
the NL this year, driving in runs consistently for the Dodgers.
Ta Oscar will probably be on the graphic. I think
we can lock in him in Soto for sure. Then
we're starting to hit the grab bag. You got the Olds,
(24:28):
McCutchen and Kiermyer serving a role defense, Harrison Bader, Michael A. Taylor,
Max Kepler. Will someone finally tap in to him? His
numbers were a little down then you'd think. And the
guy who's probably Randall Gritchick mutual option Diamondbacks. The guy
(24:51):
who's probably gonna make the graphic with Juan Soto and
Taoscar Hernandez is Jerkson pro far million dollars this year.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
I think we'll beat that.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Someone's gonna go in. I wonder if it's a funky
contract because the one years an outlier. I wonder if
San Diego and Profar try to figure it out, because
whatever he's done with them, I'd want to tap into
that more. Uh. But Cherson Profar since day one of
this season has been one of the best outfielders in
(25:23):
the National league. I guess if Belly went nuts, there
could be more of a conversation there, but I don't
think so.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
The other name that sticks out in the group that
I don't think we said was Tyler O'Neill.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
I mentioned Tyler brief. You talk yourself into like I
think him.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
The numbers this year are really good.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
They are really good. He has genuine injury stuff. The
name I did forget, and it's because they listed these
names in the oddest fashion. And he might be my
graphic guy, Anthony Santande switch hitter forty homers. He's gonna
(26:01):
get paid paid if he could DH. That actually might
do him good at a certain point, because I think
some of his defensive stuff ain't so hot. I'd like
to get him on the graphic and I'm gonna work
on that. The point is outfield, you do have some
actual options, whether Platoony Weather, defense weather like you'll talk
(26:22):
Tyler O'Neal signs on your favorite team. You talk yourself
into that, especially after his resurgence. Here they list the dhs,
JD Martinez, Trevor Ploof. That's kind of Trevor's Jack Peterson, Like,
just sign JD. He'll give you a one fifteen oh
ps plus keep it moving. Marcelo Zuna club option. I'm
(26:45):
gonna tell you that gets picked up. Eloy club option.
Probably not fun rehab project for a team. Maybe I'll
do an all rehab team. Maybe it's just all White Sox.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
They'll take a chance team.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Oh, let's see if I could do that quick Eloy Yep,
Tyler O'Neal might not count. Let me get away from that. Infield,
just talked about it being ion Mancata, my guy count
Joge Polanco.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Probably whichever of Polanco or glab Or you didn't put
on the other one.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Yeah, Josh Bell, Gary Sanchez always he might be the
he might be the one one on both lists. Starting pitcher.
I'm not gonna really do relievers. There's bodies. Ken Lee
Jansen for those who don't know, he will be a
free agent. Ryan Presley has a mutual Kimberl club option.
(27:40):
Blake Trinan will be a free agent. Paul c. Walt
will be a free agent. Carlos Estevez, Sir, Anthony Dominguez
club option. Who else we got, Tommy Cainley, Andrew Kittridge.
There's bullpen. There's bullpen. You know you know if your
team pays for bullpen or not. And again, depending where
(28:03):
those guys are listed in your bullpen, you'll either be
really excited for them or slightly nervous heading into the season.
Starting pitching has some options.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Garrett Cole.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Has an opt out that the Yankees have an opt
in for an extra year if he opts out. If
I know my Yankees and I know Garrett Cole, They're
going to figure that out. Beaves presented an interesting thought
of Garrett Cole not opting out because he thinks he
might be able to make it to thirty eight and
get a Orlander.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
People are still paying for contract three year contracts at
that point.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
If there's a guy that could do it, it would
be him. If he could do a fake opt out
and Yankees tap into that last year, I think he
cashed that in. I don't know. I'm not Garrett Cole.
He gets operated on a different level. Blake Snell has
an opt out. That's going to be a fun conversation
coming out of the season because he's been nails lately,
He's been incredible. Does he like San Francisco? Does he
(29:04):
probably want long term security? Yeah? Hey, you guys just
paid Chapman. I'm cool. I'm cooling.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
No offense to Mattic Chapman. But if you're Blake Smell,
you gotta be feeling like I'm more proven.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
He has a more argument.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Justin Verlander not sure, Max Scherzer not sure. Corbyn Byrne
Sure he's gonna get himself a real payday, even though
I think he's limp into the finish line a little bit.
Max Freed is gonna have himself a basement. Go on,
young man. Walker Buehler is gonna have an interesting free agency.
I wonder if him and the Dodgers just figure something
(29:44):
out to run it for another year. Maybe not. Robbie
Ray has an opt out. I don't know if he
taps into that. Charlie Morton gets operated by his own
rules always. Sean and Iya has an opt out that
he's probably gonna push the button rush hour shout out.
Where's Shaman's numbers at two and a half woar one
(30:06):
hundred and fifty seven innings pitch three four to three,
thirteen and a half mili player option, Yeah, Shan and
I will opt out of that, and he's going to
be a very intriguing option for teams as it seems
he's really tapped into something. Luis Severino has had a
very strong season. Jack Flaherty has had an incredible season,
(30:31):
and man Michael Waka has a player option. He's been great.
You say, Kakuchi, where does he go to sleepy man?
He likes to sleep. I don't know what that was.
If you need starting pitching, there is a tier of
guys that I didn't even really tap into. Whether I'm
(30:56):
Alex Cobb, Nathan Valdi, Frankie Montass, D Skelfani and where's
the other guy? D Scalfani and Michael Lorenzen feel like
they're free agents every year if you want them. I mean,
John means the heen dog. Jose Quintana starting pitcher is
(31:17):
there this year, which is a good thing for your
team and a lot of teams. So with all of that,
I think it's a thin catcher crop. Left side of
the infield, you got a couple of highlights, but not
too much else. Second base you could talk yourself into
something for sure, starting pitching an outfield, you're gonna be
(31:41):
able to make some moves and yeah, I think the
only guys that you'd have to watch out for like
just Kobell Cody Bellinger go nuts to finish and would
he opt out? Snell is gonna be a storyline yet again,
Jordan Montgomery vesting option. Remember all that, guys, that's probably
(32:03):
the last time we're gonna be able to tap into
that for a little while, because it's gonna be a
lot of playoff baseball final stretch of the season. If
your team is losing and needs help there not ready
to talk about it anymore. It's almost playoff baseball time
and it's football season, and at the DraftKings Sportsbook it's

dollars in bonus bets instantly. That's Promo Code Bakers only
at DraftKings Sportsbook. Let's walk you through this football weekend
we're recovered from the first excited to see in Week two,
which teams really used Week one as their final preseason game,
and now we're playing better football. There's gonna be a
couple other teams that are in like preseason mode because
(33:08):
these teams have played three quarters together centrally. It starts
out Thursday night tomorrow, depending when you're listening to this,
and we've got a good one Buffalo at Miami. This
will be a good test for the Miami Dolphins good
team theory. If you remember Miami lost all the good
teams last year, they beat all the bad teams. Buffalo
(33:32):
slash Josh Allen makes them a good team. It's in Miami.
Thursday has a history of being sloppy games because the
NFL's creatures of habit Anyways, over under forty eight. Little
Jakie Teazer probably gonna go on the under on that one.
Thursday unders used to be a thing. I feel like
offenses aren't fully prepped yet, although two in the Boys
(33:54):
and Josh and the Boys were two of the offenses
that opened it up. But either way, a fun Monday
night matter. What does Tua Tyreek McDaniels have drawn up
Buffalo and Josh Allen. How hard will he have to
put them on his back? Because that's what he did
against the Cardinals, which takes us to Sunday, no Friday,
no Saturday. I'll give a peek at the college football.
(34:16):
Let's see, because I do love me a Saturday. Arizona
State's playing Thursday. No Arizona at Kansas State Friday night.
Hello sports losers number twenty at number fourteen, that Arizona
wide out quarterback Combo. I've been trying to tell you about.
Even UNLV Kansas on Friday as well. Let's see a
(34:40):
quick scroll of the Saturday slate. LSU at South Carolina.
That's kind of fun. South Carolina has a DN who's
supposed to be next. Boston College at Missouri. Sure, I'll
watch that, Notre Dame at Purdue. Maybe I won't watch that.
A and M at Florida might be a little bit
of a poop bowl. Not to offend anyone, uh you
(35:03):
kind of doke. I'm not gonna watch go Huskies. We'll
miss at Wake Forest. Don't think so. Georgia at Kentucky.
Don't think so. Nebraska plays and people want to know
if they're good now Okay, I feel better about it.
Tune in turn in Friday Night for college football. On
(35:23):
Sunday though one pm, we get some teams that are
gonna find out if they're two to zero or if
their season is going the other direction. Two of those
teams the New Orleans Saints. They went marching against the
Carolina Panthers, which nobody knows how bad they truly are.
They're facing the Dallas Cowboys, who they beat up on
(35:45):
Cleveland last week. It's in Dallas. Dallas is solid favorites,
and I think they should be. You know, the Cowboys
are always gonna throw you one. No idea how to
judge the Saints after playing the Panthers, Cowboys had a
really strong win. They're at home. When their defense is
healthy and attacking, they are vicious. Feels like Derek Carr
two interceptions might bet that. How about them boys? Baker
(36:09):
heads up to Detroit. This is the all respectable, my
coach Dan Campbell, my quarterback, Baker Mayfield. How about I'll
mark this one down as the shootout. Remember when the
Lions team, that's like all they used to play. Baker
getting the ball to Mike Evans Godwin and that rookie
(36:30):
wide receiver out of Washington. Maybe a set White gets
in the mix too. Baker comfortable in his second year
in the Detroit Lions. Who we saw how they finished
their game over unders fifty one and a half, so
they expect them scoring up there. Would assume Detroit pulls
away late. But let's see if Baker can get in
on the fun. An ugly one to watch and not
(36:52):
watch this weekend, the Colts and the Packers. No Jordan Love,
it's in green Bay. The line is INDI minus three
in Green Bay. So that tells you everything they think
about what Green Bay is gonna be rolling out there.
Quarterback in Malik Willis. Did they add anyone? They got
to add someone? Yeah. I feel like that game is
(37:12):
gonna be a tough watch. Let's see if ar five
can tap into more just freakish plays because he had
one the other day the other day last weekend, Jets
are going to Nashville, Tennessee Titans minus three and a half.
We've got the Jets trying to build off of Sunday
(37:36):
night three minutes. We got the Jets trying to build
off the Niners loss. A short week mark that down
and the Jets had one good drive and everything else
wasn't great. And the Titans kind of coming off a
brutal loss coming home for their first home game of
the year. Jets minus three and a half. Kind of
(37:59):
like I was gonna say, kind of like the Titans
spread wise, we don't know what to do with Will
Levis yet. And that Jets defense I think is real.
I think there was an appreciation that they were playing
the Niners.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
I thought I felt better about the Tans. A game
that I hope is fun. Niners at Minnesota, Sam Darnold
revenge game. Donald at home with Minnesota. That place gets loud.
It's Niners minus six on the road. A lot of
road road favorites this week. If you know anything about
the NFL, there's gonna be some action to get there.
(38:37):
Let's see what Donald and the Vikings are against an
actual football team, sorry Giants, and let's see what San
Francisco can draw up. It seems like they're running back
doesn't seem to be a problem because his you know
what's funny, the Niners daddy, he used to coach running
backs too. The Shanahan family. What is that about Seattle
(39:02):
at New England I'll be frank Seattle another road favorite.
Not interested in that game again. If I was giving
out betting advice, I think I'd give you New England
to win. Seattle coming west to East New England with
a chance to go to to oh for no reason
really except the Bengals don't care about Week one. I
(39:22):
like that Commander's g Man Absolutely not. I Giants, I'm
done with. I took the Commanders as my pick them
against the spread this week, a reminder I've won the
past two years. They have a rookie quarterback and Daniels
(39:43):
who's still trying to run almost every play because he's
new to the league, and in Washington, it's still felt
like a layup to me. I think the Giants product
is gonna get pretty ugly pretty fast. I think it
already is Carolina, speaking of charge, come out East. That's
the only thing Carolina has working for them. Let's see
(40:04):
how ugly that gets. You might see some blue birds
and some paper bags on heads. Cleveland at Jacksonville Jacksonville
tough second half, really solid first half. They host Cleveland
as Deshaun Watson was just trying to escape the Cowboys
all game. Jacksonville minus three. I would stay away from
(40:25):
that game with my eyes and my gambling. So at
one o'clock, Oh, there's also Baltimore at Vegas. Baltimore's minus
nine and a half. I almost took them in the
against the spread league. That reeks to me of Baltimore
lost Week one to Kansas City. We're home. West Coast
team comes east, bad West Coast team comes east. I
think Baltimore might put it on them in a big way.
(40:47):
And sometimes that's when the NFL rears its head and
you look up and it's thirteen nothing Raiders. But I
don't believe in that. For Baltimore, I do think they're
gonna win big, and I still might go for that one.
So at one pm, you want to be watching. I'll
be honest. Nothing jumps off the page. I'm hoping Lions
(41:09):
Tampa is fun. Let's see who the Jets are. I
guess that would be one of the like the storylines
of the season. You know, if they go zero to two,
Jets Nation gets pretty rowdy pretty quick. I don't know.
I kind of like Jane Daniels and I just think
the Giants are gonna throw up in themselves. But one o'clock.
I guess if someone's bullying you into a Sunday plan,
(41:33):
if there's ever a Sunday to let it go for
a little bit. Four pm. Steelers Broncos. I'll tell you
who's not excited and who has two thumbs this guy. Uh,
did you see what Pittsburgh's defense did to the Falcons
last week? Her Cousins is a veteran quarterback. O Nicks
(41:55):
is not. I'm not excited for that one. Another road
favorite NFL Road favorite Sunday, and then Kansas City minus
five first the Bengals. Let's see if the Bengals bounce back.
I Uh, that's gonna be a huge test of quote
unquote this league. Kansas City with extra rest five points favorites.
(42:15):
The Bengals looks awful and lost to the Patriots. The
Joe Burr effect still has this minus five. Hey, maybe
Higgins will be back, Maybe everything's gonna come together. Holy smokes,
that stinks to high Heaven. The Bengals played awful, and
they start the season awful every year. The Chiefs do
not minus five k C give me them more than that,
(42:38):
and I'll probably look foolish. The night game. C. J.
Stroud and the Texans. Stroud and the Boys came out,
played really well. They host the Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams.
Let's see the young growth of Caleb. These two might
be rivals for the next decade, which would be pretty sick.
Or if the Bears losing Caleb throws for under a hunt,
(43:02):
that narrative will start to change quick. Monday Night, Atlanta
at Philly, It's for the Birds. Enjoy your weekend, guys.
Thank you for tuning in. Uh Man Playoff Baseball is
going to be coming here soon, and Uncle Dan's going
to tell you about it.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Weaken Jake is production of Dan Patrick Productions, John Boy Media,
and Workhouse Media.
