Speaker 1 (00:19):
Everybody? Welcome to the other podcast brought to you by
First Like Gear.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
We are doing a live Q and A via YouTube,
so this is legit live.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
If you're joining in on the YouTube channel.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
If you're not subscribed, you need to be because it's
where all the happening stuff happens.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
And then if you're listening to.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
A podcast, we have got to edit out all the
stuff from that, so you just kind of get like
a not even real version if you're listening to the podcast.
So go to YouTube and subscribe there because it's way better.
I'm just kidding about most of that. But YouTube is
a great place and you get to see a lot
of cool stuff on here. Tyler Jones next to me,
Eric Gentry you can't see, but you can hear him.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Yep, I'm here.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
He's uh, he's.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Wearing his hockey jersey today because it's hockey weather outside.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
Is he actually may not be showing up on the
YouTube live because of the mic situation.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yeah, okay, so you can't hear him, but you can
hear them on the podcast, Eric, say something and we'll
see if they can hear you. Can you hear me?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Ro Ho Panda is here, They'll we'll let you know.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
Somebody says something. Yeah, but yeah, Q and A. It's
a chance to ask is pretty much anything. Good thing
is We don't have to answer everything. But there's uh,
there's definitely some questions already coming in. It looks like
John says they can hear you. So Eric, do you
want to go ahead and uh loudly proclaim some questions
to us?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (01:40):
What's the best saddle for a beginner?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Beginner? Beginner saddle?

Speaker 5 (01:45):
And I think they're all like they all take some
time to get to know and get used to and
to learn from learn how they work. I don't think
that there's necessarily and I may be wrong, Casey, but
I don't think there's necessarily like a beginner saddle. I
think it's just like saddle hunting for a beginning is
just something you gotta kind of learn. It's like, you know,
there's there's guitar lessons for beginners, but the guitar is

(02:09):
not for beginners to.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Be at, you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (02:12):
So you have to start somewhere and I think it's
just pretty much just jumping into a saddle. I will
say the one I use is pretty comfortable.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
If I want to give you a non industry answer,
you can kind of go two different directions with this.
If you're the kind of guy who's committed to saddle
hunting and you want to be like you're like, I'm
gonna start saddle hunting, it's the thing I'm gonna do,
then maybe you should think about the details of the
saddle you're gonna use. I used a couple of them,
like Cruiser, like tether To, like timber Ninja.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
That's the ones I've used the most.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
They all are nice, but you know, do your research,
find the one that you really think that you would
go with and purchase that. Now, if you're a kind
of guy who wants to try it out, because it's
kind of what that sounds like with that question, I
would find the closest, cheapest saddle that you can buy
used and try it out and just do that. And
I wouldn't probably do the borrow buddy thing borrow a

(03:05):
buddies because he's gonna want it back, but find you an.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Expensive one to try out hunt out of it.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
A couple of times and see if saddle huntings for
you or not, and then you can make some decisions
about if you like this or don't like that, or
whatever it may be, and then you can always sell
that used one again if that's not the one that
you wanted.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
And the market for resale is pretty good. I'd say
I use the tethered for a year and never had
any issues. I know a lot of guys suffered from
hip pinch stuff with the phantom, I think is what
I used.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I loved that saddle. I thought it was great.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
I like walking in in that saddle, but I've been
using a cruiser for the last couple of years. It's
more comfortable in my opinion. The what's what's the cruiser
called that? I use single painter XC and so it's
more comfortable. But I don't like walking in as much
with the saddle on in the cruiser as a the tether.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So those are my two cents? What else you got? Sorry?
Are you no? I as well?

Speaker 3 (04:05):
I will say I've used the saddle that you didn't
talk about. I have used as the timber Ninja. I
don't remember what it's called either, but it's a single
panel it's not quite as comfortable as the Cruiser, but
it has some unique features that are like kind of
toppy in type stuff. So if you're looking for something
that's it's like that might be something to check out.

(04:26):
Mick wants to know, are you permanently collabing with meat Eater?

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Yeah, yeah, we do work closely with Mediator, so you'll
see more of us on there for sure.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Best budget minded's set up to hunt from a tree
in East Texas?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Are you going to be mobile?

Speaker 5 (04:44):
I mean, yeah, that's I guess that's the I guess
if you can clarify that, that would help us. But
let's answer the tree stand is even I mean, even
if you're semi mobile, can be probably the best budget
minded thing to from the sound like, are just gonna
cost more than a tree stand in most situations.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I think that climbing is where, honestly it gets a
little bit more difficult because it's going to be pretty expensive.
If you want to be mobile with climbing gear, or
you can use screw ins on private and they're not
very expensive at all. That's probably the best way to
be mobile with on a on the cheap.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Okay, if you have a specific bow stand on your place.
Would you replace a hang on stand to saddle hunt
or just leave your hang on stand.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I'm gonna leave the hang on stand for it.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
It's it's it's just real nice to just have that
thing out there and be able to hop up in it.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
And you know, quite honestly, it's more comfortable.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
I mean, a good saddle isn't very uncomfortable, but the
hang on's nice.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, I yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
I've got two hang ons back here on my property,
and one hundred once out of them this year because
there's no deer. But uh, I just I've left him
there for years and I killed ranch buck with a
saddle on, but out of a hang on.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Twelve Ring Outdoors says it's gonna be twenty twenty four
is going to be the best season of his life.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
He's feeling.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
He wants to know if anyone else is feeling the
same for.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Me for sure? For sure, Man, I'm down in the dumps.
I don't think I'm wanna hunt this year. Humpty dumpty.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
Oh no.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
Nick wants to know how can you get the best
antler growth for free range deer.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
High protein?

Speaker 5 (06:37):
This is I'm not a biologist, but from the small
amounts of research that I've done, because I don't own
enough property to really do this or even have some
sort of management abilities on any property that could do
this really too much. But you want to feed high
protein pretty much year round, I think you want to

(06:58):
create his little stress is possible for the doe herd,
especially if from what I understand that the healthier the
dose are in a long term situation, the greater antler
growth and overall body weight you'll get on the buck

(07:19):
deer throughout the years. So it's like the research I've
seen is like the first generation doesn't necessarily benefit from
like good feed, but that the second generation no, Like
there's these these biological signals that are sent from the
dough that like, hey, things have been good out here

(07:41):
for years, and you can sustain a bigger body weight
little buck baby when you come out. So because things
are so good and we're fed so well, and our
stressed is solo that you know, that's the best if
you're talking about the best way. I think that from
the research I've seen, it's that it's like creating generational

(08:03):
good conditions for especially to those I don't really.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Think that you.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Can do a whole lot about it as far as
antly size. But Tyler's points all would be things you
could try and they might work, but it's just there's
so many outside circumstances and things. You know, maybe if
you had a ton of acreage you can make a difference,
and I know that people in South Texas do it.
But you know, if you were trying to make an impact,

(08:33):
you know, good high protein food and water would be
I would like do my best to make a buck
not have to travel very far in his life.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
I think that would make the biggest difference, honestly. Yeah,
because age is gonna trump just about everything. I mean,
even some deer are just destined to be a one
thirty their whole life, you know, and that's but they're
not going to be a one thirty if they're destined
to be that at four years old. Probably even I mean, like,
if it's destined to be at one thirty its whole life,
then it's probably five, six, seven years old before it

(09:05):
gets there.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
I've seen a few of these roll through that are
asking about specific places, and I'm going to tell y'all
that's a no, no, We're not going to.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Talk about specific locations. Of public plans.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Any DC NF hunts in the future.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
I didn't know what that meant.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Well, I would have talked about a few years ago,
but we get hammered when we talk about stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Guy.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
It's like, I would love to I'd love to have
a conversation with you about it, and maybe at a
live event we can do that, you know, where you
show up and we get to shake your hand and
talk about it some. But yeah, like if I mean,
if I say we're hunting in Texas, everybody on the
forums will say that we're ruining Texas hunting. So you know,
I don't know what to do about it other than

(09:51):
just to create generic content that people.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Generic.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Now, y'all, everything is just say don't if anybody and
you can ask that some of those questions in a
generic way. Like, for instance, if someone said any plans
to hunt some of that big wood stuff in the
eastern part of the state, we can go with that,
you know, and they answer to be.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
No, I hate it. I'm glad that country's there, but
it's hard. I mean for squirrels.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
Yeah, it's far enough away too that like day trips
are tough. So I mean, we've done some but you
just don't get to spend a lot of time out,
you know, when something's three hours from you or whatever.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Nick has a beginner bow and wants to buy a
new one. What would you recommend for his next bow
he wants to upgrade from beginner bow.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah, if you have shot a beginner bow, you probably
didn't put a lot of thought. And now I'm not
trying to be rude or anything. I'm just kind of
assuming some things. You probably didn't put.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
A lot of thought to the qualities of the bow
that you liked when you purchased it.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
If it was a beginner bow, you probably were looking
for something economical, I would think, or maybe you were
looking for something that was easy to shoot potentially, or
maybe your favorite influencer told you should buy that one.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
I don't know, but you're looking to step up.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
I would go shoot as many bows as you can
and shoot the one, and I would narrow it down
at least to the ones that you feel comfortable both
with the draw cycle. It's probably a big one and
Tyler can probably talk about that more. And then also
like the grip, and for me, I think how easy

(11:41):
the bullet bow is to control. So like personally, bows
that are a little longer axle to axel seem to
be a little easier for me to control, and I
think that would be the same for most people.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
I'm not a big guy.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
I'm five to eleven on a really good day, so
really it means five ten and.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
So getting shorter and getting shorter and wider.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
So I know that seems like a generic answer, but
just go to your your your pro shop if you're
local out east here in East Texas, go to camp
to our shop down there and tell them that you
want to shoot a bunch of bo's because you're interested
in purchasing a new, good one and uh, and you'll
have some thoughts. You probably want some real answers, so

(12:25):
I'll tell you. I love my Botch SR three fifty.
I like a lot of the new Matthews, and I
like the Prime Inline six maybe or something like that.
I've shot those and liked them pretty good.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
I've been I shot a Botech SS thirty four all season,
shot really well with it. It's a little bit slower
than when I shot the year before, but it's manageable.
It's a long ata bow and it seems to be
more accurate and me easier and more fun to draw

(13:02):
than what I shot last year, which is a little
more of a speed bow.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
So it's a thought. It's something that.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
You could probably pick up and used for a decent
price too. So yeah, I mean I would agree with Casey.
You go and shoot the bows and see what you like.
And uh, generally speaking on a year to year difference,
if you buy last year's bow from X company, that
you like what the bow shoots this year, if it's
a similar bow ata and speck wise, then it probably

(13:31):
is gonna be something you like, you know, so you
can get it used cheaper from last last year's model.
They don't change a whole lot year to year usually.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Yeah, and nowadays there's just not a lot of bows
you're gonna shoot that you're gonna draw back and shoot
me like, yeah, that was Yeah, you know, there's just
a lot of nice suppose that they're they're all pretty nice.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Any spring sorry, any spring bow hog hunts coming up?

Speaker 1 (13:53):
There are?

Speaker 3 (13:54):
There has already been some, There'll be more. We actually
just recorded a sweet hog video that we're coming out
on the YouTube channel pretty soon.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
Yeah, there's uh, we've already both attempted some stalks. So
we're working on we're shronkers trying to shoot one for
you know, get a shot off at one. So the
wind is not our friend sometimes.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
As Tyler decided on that once in a lifetime hunt yet, yes,
I have you, I would love to go on a
hunt for once in a while time.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
In fact, I did a little shopping at the Dallas
Safari Club convention in Dallas this weekend, and.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
So I found something out.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
I'm gonna I'm gonna just say what the story is here,
but I think I told the guys this earlier, and
I didn't tell them that the kicker at the end,
so I saw I was looking, you know, like, I
love sheep. I haven't ever hunted, but I would love to.
I think they're the coolest. So I was looking through
the boost and it's one of those awkward moments where
this guy kind of like catches my eye and I

(14:59):
catch him and he's at his booth and then he's like,
it's like, hey, man, what's going on.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
I'm like, hey, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (15:03):
And I see this fan in sheep, which is like
a Yukon Territory sheep that is like a supposedly a
crossbreed between a stone and a doll or whatever. So
because it's not recognized in Boone and Crockett as one
of the four Grand Slam sheep species, I was like, Oh,
that think's gonna be affordable, you know, or whatever, and

(15:24):
I can. I can pull out a loan tomorrow and
go and just do this thing in two years three years.
So I was like, oh, was that a fan of sheep.
He's like, yeah, he tells me this whole spiel on
how his place is the best and you know, hardest
to get into, and this and that and and kind
of gives me the whole you know, nobody cares where
harder speech and and then I was like, oh, cool, well,

(15:44):
can I grab one of those pribace sheets from you?
So I grab one. The first thing on there was
the fan of sheep. I was like, oh cool, fifty
five grand and I decided, Man, that's probably not the
hunt for me. But that's weird because I thought that'd
be the cheap one, right, which it is cheaper than
a stone sheep even, but here's the kickers. I was
talking to one of my buddies at the show about it,

(16:07):
who has done quite a bit of sheep hunting, and
he was like, you know, you can apply fanning to
your stone sheep, so they will accept fanning sheep entries
in the stone sheep category.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
So that's why it's still crazy expensive.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
It doesn't have the colors that like a stone sheep
would have, but it fits into that category so guys
can get their grand slam. So they're charging a lot
of money. So that's that's one way to say that. Yeah,
Claybeer just said that, So that's that's one way to
say that. That was, you know, a bust. And then

(16:43):
I looked. I started looking at prices or off the bat,
like mule deer. I was like, oh man, big mule deer.
Maybe cool, cool hunt for mule deer or something. Maybe
that's more affordable. And it was like, oh, there's one
for sixteen grand. And then I was just like, you
know what this fixing to turn into Europe is? What's
this fixing to happen?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
I can't.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
I mean, I really stopped looking. I started looking at
fishing pretty much. That's what I was doing there, was
looking at fishing stuff and just kind of sightseeing. It
was fun, but I just like, I don't know, it's
weird because like as fast as inflation is increasing, salaries
aren't keeping up. And then on top of that, the
hunt inflation for stuff like that is because it's a

(17:23):
one percent kind of hunt, it's inflating even faster than inflation,
so like there's no way that our salaries will ever
catch up. I don't think I'll ever go on a
sheep hunt. I don't know if I ever will. And
I thought, like ten years ago, I thought for sure
I could do this. I'll, you know, if I have
to pull out alone in a few years and just
pay it back over you know, three to five years
or whatever, and then I'll go do that one hunt,

(17:45):
you know, and just be happy with it.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
And now.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
You know, stone cheaper one hundred grand, And it's like,
I don't think I'm gonna I don't think I could.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
I could really do that.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
I mean, I would have to like sell a massive
piece of property or get some sort of crazy amount
of inheritance or something. I think before I could really
even think that that would be a possibility. But still
it's a lot of money, even with a big inheritance
or something, right, So it's just crazy. My buddy that

(18:15):
he was like they just keep paying it. And that's
the thing is like, well, twenty five or thirty grand
wasn't nothing for these guys four or five years ago,
and still nothing for him to spend one hundred because
they're ten millionaires, you know, or whatever. So it's like
it really doesn't matter to them a whole lot, and
I'm not in that category. All right, where's Hunter? How's

(18:40):
he doing? Which one the one you've been taking hunting?

Speaker 1 (18:43):
I've been taking a young man name Hunter. We know
a medium age.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Man name Hunter too.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
I don't know he went hunting here while back without us.
I don't think he killed anything. Sorry, Hunter, I hope
you killed one one day. Uh.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Where did the term calling big bucks toads come from?

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Man? I think that's one of those things that, like.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
The evolutionist would call this covergent evolution, right, where a
lot of things come together and they all end up
in the same spot. Because that's probably something that you
said at some point in your life. I'm sure we
started saying toad around two thousand and nine when we
were bass fishing. I don't know who started saying it,

(19:32):
you know, Yeah, I don't know either, but it kind
of came from fishing. I think, like bass, we're called
big bass were called toads. And then clay Bird says
he heard what he'll say it okay good.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
I believe that for sure.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Like I don't know if there's a guy that can
that can influence the hunting hunting industry to say something,
it's him, for sure.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
This person says, uh, hunting black tails with a Bois
magesic stick. Do you guys have any Western hunts for
next year? It's majestic Like he's proclaiming that to be
a majestic thing, an act of majesty.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
I bet it's cool. It seems cool.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
No, I don't have I'm not gonna go affordable on
any Western hunts next year. I don't think they focusing
on the deer's.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
If I draw a good tag, then I'm going on
Western hunt. But there's I don't have any really plans
to pay for something right now to go on. I mean,
I don't know. Times is tough, y'all. It's right last week.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
We need somebody to come in and fix this economy.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
That's fifteen dollars a good budget for a bow. Do
you have sights and all that stuff?

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Already.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
I think that that's gonna be a low for a
new bow with all the accessories, right, Yeah, I think
that that's what a new bowl with tex is going
to cost you.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
Bear Bo Yeah, probably about right. What kind of bows
are you guys shooting?

Speaker 1 (21:10):
I got a lot of Botex.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
Yeah, I've been shooting like SS thirty four. Like I said,
there's a Potex sense of stuff. So I mean, when
you can get a two thousand dollars set up for free,
it's hard not to. If I'm being frank, I'm not
trying to say. I'm just saying like we're blessed to
be sent some bows. If everybody was sending us bows,
and I would choose the one that I like the best.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
But there's just a few bows being sent to the house.
So I still have my Elite. I might shoot that
at some point, Tom.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Yeah, it shoots, really, it is a good shooting, but
just isn't real fast. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
But I have one of their newer SR Core. I
think it's called I hadn't set it up yet, but
I'm gonna set it up and I'll shoot it a
little bit and try to let you know. When I
think about it. We might do a video over it.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
What are some things to do in the winter time
to get ready for next year season? Is that we're
scouting with a foot of snow on the ground.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
I would increase your personal insulation follows you. That's what
I've been doing. Call that p I.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
You know, we used to really put a lot of
effort into postseason scouting and we don't anymore. Lazy, yeah, busy,
lazy yeah. I think I think that if you had
like a personal property of like two hundred acres, it
really could pay off. But public land is so volatile
here where we live, Like there's so many people that

(22:56):
if your area suddenly gets pressure, like the area you
put your scouting time into, it gets pressure that year
like it did in the year before, it could change.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
So it's almost like it's just not worth it.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
I don't know if we've ever postseason scattered our way
into killing a big buck we have we're at.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
I would scowl this and put of snow on the
ground personally if you have the time. So like personally
right now, it's hard for me to find the time
to just go go over and scout somewhere, you know,
even locally or whatever. But we found We were squirrel
hunting a few years back in the snow and we
found a place that we call four Corners, and it

(23:41):
is a place that a buck was killed.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
And now it's twenty years later. I think a lot
of people on trail camera. Yeah, it's weird. Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
I think that's coincidence. I think there's a lot of
people on our trail cameras this year. And I think
that that's more just an increase in pressure this year.
And there'll be evan ful to that, I think usually
because those guys, all those guys will be unsuccessful more
likely just because this is a terrible piece of property overall,
you know, and so there will be they will struggle,

(24:14):
and then they won't come back the next year, and
then there will be a new group, or they'll get
fired up two years from now and have more time
or whatever, you know. So I would say that if
you have the time, if you had the fire and
the gumption, then go out there and scout in the
snow right now. If nothing else, it gives you an
idea of late season next year what will happen. And

(24:36):
I mean hanging cameras right now is a good way
to see like what you can potentially do in the
late season after the rut next year if you get
similar conditions, similar pressure. But while I say that Casey
is very right, a lot of our scouting on public
land has been futile because it is so volatile. Somebody
said turn the volume up or any of y'all having

(24:57):
problems with that? Other than that guy, we're also seeing
different stuff than he's seen over here. I haven't seen
any of the correlations, but yeah, like it, keep them coming.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
When are you guys gonna hunt South Florida?

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (25:11):
I saw that one that's from Tachyo, Spike's brother. I'd
love to I don't know anything about it, though. I
don't want to hunt for white tails because I don't
know if you can in South Florida?

Speaker 5 (25:22):
Can you you can? I don't know if you can
hunt South Florida. It's all like refuge, didn't it?

Speaker 1 (25:28):
I don't know't that?

Speaker 5 (25:30):
No?

Speaker 1 (25:30):
No, the refuge means preservation.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
Between you two, Who is the best hunter?

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Tyler? No, this is a stupid question. This is stupid. No.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
According to the Element Crew, the most the fact that
I don't get places.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Early means that I'm not a good hunter.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
I don't want to listen. Nobody in this crew wants
to be like Hunter. What who's the better hunter?

Speaker 1 (25:56):
The better hunter?

Speaker 5 (25:56):
I don't want to be like Hunter. No, I don't
I don't like that question at all. I mean because
I mean, I can you know the obvious answer is
k C. Right, So and then he's gonna say me,
so nobody gets the truth.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
I'll beat you to.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
Nobody knows the truth either way, that's right. Like, it's
not like a This isn't a competitive sport or anything.
So it's not like it's not even like ice skating,
like there's no like judges that have some certain qualifications
they judge on and say, well, this guy's better because
he did a tow touch while he's in the tree
stand or whatever.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
You know.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
So if we went down a list of like thirty
attributes of hunters, we could point and say who is
better at that thing? Uh, probably pretty pragmatically, but as
far as like who's better.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
Yeah, that's say we both do some things way better
than the other one does, you know, and then.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
We do a lot of things similarly because we hunt
together a lot. Yep, g Off, I'm not really sure
where he's at. But he says we can. We can
hunt blacktail, white tail, and mule deer with an OTC tag.
If you had to pick one to focus on for
a mature buck, which one would it be?

Speaker 3 (27:06):
That kind of like geon, I would hunt white tails
because there's a really good chance that that's the most
populous of those three, because you're in a really specific
area if you have milder and blacktail, and the chances

(27:29):
of those deer growing to maturity are probably better because
white tails just proliferate like crazy.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
There's a lot of people to take and I've noticed
too in places.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Where there are muldier people tend to focus on those
and don't shoot the big whitetail bucks because they're trying
to hunt big old mellier bucks dead.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
Oh who do you all want to win the Super Bowl?

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Who's in it? I don't think Michael stole to win
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
I don't know who's who?

Speaker 1 (28:03):
All's in right now?

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Well, Detroit Cowboys aren't and the forty nine, well they
got to buy right So Green Bay in Detroit.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Made it through this weekend and then Chiefs won. The
Chiefs won.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
When there are bills, all the Bills game is today
because it got moved.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
Man, I wanted the Dolphins to win that game, but
I knew them Dolphins ain't going to I ain't never
lived in that kind of climate in his whole life,
you know, he ain't never been a day in that stuff.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Probably, yeahs some Lions fans on here, and.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
I kind of am pulling for the Lions because Ichael
Golf or whatever, Golf, not g.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Off, but golf, I like, I.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
Like Dan Campbell.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
I probably pulled for the line for the Lions. Dambell.
They hadn't won a playoff games since like two thousand
and two or something. Probably haven't been.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
To it thirty two years, right, I think it's I
think it was the first time.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
How about that? And they beat the Rams, who geoff
was Yeah, and at this that's where their quarterback's at all. Right.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Thoughts on Matt Renola and beef with hunting media, I mean,
I don't even know what it is. Yeah, Like the
last thing.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
You do this, the same guy keeps answers like Lions
fans for Live. Maybe I don't ever listen to that stuff.
I don't.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Drama is not my favorite, and like we do, you're
not beef around here. Yeah, it ain't the same any news,
you know, so, I mean, and some people like that stuff,
but uh, I have no clue what's even going on there?

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Really?

Speaker 4 (29:33):
What's your preferred pack for saddle hunting?

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Mmm? I like those first lite packs.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
They got some problems. But I don't know.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
When you're hard on stuff, everything's gonna be kind of yeah,
weird hard on stuff.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
I mean, there ain't a whole lot of gear that
just holds up to much use of ours. I think
I think there's a little common it's not just being
hard on stuff, it's it's hunting a hard way. And
it's also we put a lot lot like you talk
about this like like man, I just don't like a
soft boot, you know, or whatever, like these stout kind
of sheep country boots or whatever. And I don't personally,

(30:10):
and you don't like a lot of times it seems
like because the durability, and I just think that you
walk like literally thirty times as much as the average
whitetail hunter, you know or whatever.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
It's impressive that I'm chubby if.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
You think about the fact how.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Much we do, you know, it's a lot to be.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
In that shait. Hey, it's what you do it for man?

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Yeah, I mean I would say that that.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
What's the thing called we have uh transfer transfer pack?
Actually it is a really good pack. Yeah yeah, I
like it a lot too. You can haul a quarter
out with it too, and stuff.

Speaker 5 (30:45):
It's not comfortable to haul of quarter out with that
pack though, it's not meant to do that.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
We're not minimalist saddle hunters, though I think a lot
of saddle hunters are.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
So that's probably not the.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Go to for you.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
Yeah, I mean, for what it's worth too.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
There's some things in the works at first Lot on
that front, but I think a lot of other guys
like smaller stuff.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
I'll tell you this.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Back before I filmed and I only hunted these Texas,
I wore a fanny pack a lot.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Yeah, I liked fanny packs. I still like fanny packs.

Speaker 5 (31:15):
Yep, me too. I actually did a bunch. I wonder
if that's like, did your dad do that too? Yeah,
my dad did that too when he first started, And
I kind of wonder if that was like their generation
that did that, had that kind of thing going on.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
It passed it to us. But I would say.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
I like to pack a lot of clothes, so I
like a bigger bag usually than probably most guys that
satn't want to carry. But there's a ton of options,
Like you could go to a million of them, you
know westy uh, you know gear companies, and there's I
mean the ones that are notable. The companies that are notable,
they have good options.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
I feel like there's a mystery ranch pack that people
talk about a lot.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Treehouse, right? Is that is that I thought the treehouse
was kafaro? Maybe, oh maybe, I don't know. There's a
kafaro and a mystery ranch.

Speaker 3 (32:01):
You might be right that people Oh no, yeah, it
probably is the treehouse and there's a kafaro one that
people talk about a lot.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
I can't remember. It's maybe a thirty eight special.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Somebody else might know.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
But that's that's not me speaking with knowledge, just me
speaking like from just what I've heard.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
How much time do you spend scouting on out of
state trips? Let's say a five day hunt.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Half a day road scouting probably would be about average.
I bet I don't even do it that half the time.
I mean I'm hardly ever.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
I mean we scout midday in the road on the
roads A lot, Yeah, yeah, yeah, trying to find something
new or whatever. Well, we'll spend two hours driving around,
just grab some food from a commnice store and eat
while we're driving and looking at like is there a
food source there or did they actually get enough water
to grow something there?

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Most of the times on a hunt like that, I've
spcouted a lot on on X beforehand, and I have
a couple ideas of what to do on certain wind directions,
And if I end up doing some scouting, it's glassing.
Like if I'm missing a hunt, it's glassy when I
don't have a good wind to go to one of
the places that I wanted to go to.

Speaker 5 (33:16):
The most I ever drove scouting on out of state
hunt was the first year in South Dakota.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
You remember that, Yeah, dude, it's dawn.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
There was a legit a day where I drove I
think five or six hours.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Yea our intern at the time just slipping the back
seat and I drove around.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
I had to film the first year we saw in Nebraska.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
Sure, yeah, I mean it happens in turns. They sleep sometimes,
you know, regularly, but they do. What is your favorite
state to hunt?

Speaker 1 (33:46):
In Alaska? I think it would be. I haven't been yet,
but it will be my favorite.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
Texas just because I've been here a long time. There's
a lot of cool things to hunt here. Y'all ever
checked out the hold on?

Speaker 1 (34:03):
They just want to. I just want to make sure
that when when when people you know, listen to this,
that they don't.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
Please don't accuse me for making Texas hunting like a
big deal now and there's nowhere to hunt.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (34:15):
I didn't intend for that answer to make Why did
you put up those just the markets of hunting and
whether it's on public or private, you know. Sorry, if
the least prices go up because I said that, which
they're not, they're already high.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
Have y'all ever checked out the public land that's pretty
far west here in Texas. Mesquite is thick, but the
deer population is pretty stable.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
H m hm.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
So we asked where I got this on X hat
I think from on X right from I was like, uh,
we both have.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
Our hits together. We Uh.

Speaker 5 (35:00):
I saw Chris b was wearing a cool black on
X hat with a white patch logo on it, and
I was like, I sent a picture to my buddy
that works it on X. I said, how do I
get one of these? And he was like, I'll sing
you something. So he sent me a box and this
was one of the hats in it. And I like
it because I need some Blaze here and there. I
don't probably need any more because I'm never gonnahunt public again,
I don't think, but I do like I like this

(35:24):
hat for it fits good like most of my Most
of my Blaze hats look just like the most Elmer
Fudd looking thing.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
You can imagine. If you could hunt with anyone that
has a big name in the industry, who.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Would it be? Who does have the biggest name?

Speaker 5 (35:40):
Remember when no More Garcia Aparo could barely fit his
name on the back of his that's a big name.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
That's what I was thinking about. Who has the biggest name?
You know, Bill Week has a tiny name, Yeah, it does.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
And then Huntsucker has a pretty big name. Pretty yeah,
Michael Huntsucker.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
Let's see, I guess you know roberts Son. You'd probably
say Lee and Tiffany Lekowski. That's that, you know, the
kind of comes as a package. So like, that's that's
a bunch of names in there. E. Now, there's a
lot of short names in the industry, Thery Zonka, Jim
Zumbo like you, those are old school guys. Jim Shocky

(36:22):
Shocky No, okay, so the actual question Jim probably yeah,
be a hard one to beat, for sure.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
He's cool old Jim Athy.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
This person wants to know if I sent you a
picture of a property, would you give advice on how
to hunt it?

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Maybe if you catch us on a good days.

Speaker 5 (36:47):
We have to do a lot of that because we
had a lot more time and a lot less people
sending us stuff like that. Unfortunately, like I would like,
I would like to be able to do that, but.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Just don't have the time to put into stuff like
that anymore. Guys, I'm sorry. You could send it to
us and maybe we could use it as an example
in a video if you wanted us to. I'm not
saying we're going to do this, but if you're okay
with it being a public thing, and we could spend
time making a video about breaking down a hunting property
that we've never been to, it might be something we
could do, but I'm not saying that we will.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
Would you sit in the same stand two full days
in a row?

Speaker 1 (37:26):
M I don't often, but I would sit there more
than that, for sure. Hey, I thought about this the
other day.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
I thought this might be a cool concept to a video.
Y'all tell me what you think. But I thought that
we should do that. We should like you and I
both go hunt the same property. Maybe it's a large property,
and one of us would do the bounce around tactic,
and one of us would do this sit in the

(37:53):
same place the whole time tactic and just see what
who had the better outcome after the end of the week.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
Well, have actually done that recently on an actual hunt?

Speaker 1 (38:03):
Did we wear? Which one? I'm not thinking about it?
North of here? Not too far? Oh yeah, yep, good,
how'd it go?

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Can't I can't say that video hasn't released yet.

Speaker 5 (38:16):
Yeah, it's an ugly mug by the way I keep
looking at my face on this lived like we doing
these podcasts not video style for sure.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Like putting those antlers on my head? Right?

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Is it worth getting a good clothing system?

Speaker 1 (38:32):
Yes? It is. I mean, yeah, you might have to
do it slowly, you know, can't that's how you started? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Remember I wasn't.

Speaker 5 (38:39):
Driving twelve hundred bucks the first year on cameo, Like
I was like, oh, there's a nine to nine dollars
jacket that looks fluffy.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
It's right.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
We got that discount on sec of gear, like a
lot of people did. And I remember buying the first
two hundred dollars jacket and being like, man, look at
this thing.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Wearing it everywhere? You know, Oh yeah, it's expensive.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
We we get to wear a lot of nice, expensive gear,
and I'm thankful for it, But I forget that that's
like sometimes a little out of touch with people.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
Is it was there a context like weather or anything,
or is it just like is it worth Yeah?

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Yeah, I mean it.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
Depends on where you hunt, for sure, and how you hunt.
If you're a box blind hunter, i'd say no, actually,
but it's it's nice if you're gonna hunt around a
little bit.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
What AGM scopes did you all get?

Speaker 3 (39:27):
Mm hmm, it's uh the adder. I have the adder.
It kind of looks like an actual scope. It's not
like a round unit. It's but we only have one.

Speaker 5 (39:38):
Our friend Clay says, used gear from forums or like Facebook,
marketplace maybe, or it was a good place to find,
uh to start building your system.

Speaker 1 (39:47):
You know.

Speaker 5 (39:48):
So uh, just if you're struggling to afford it. You know,
it is stuff that keeps you in the stand a
long time, if it's comfortable and keeps you warm.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
How long before sundown or sun up do you try
to have your set up settled and you're hanging in
the true.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Case, I like so.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
I like to be early on evenings if I can be,
but I'm not very often in the mornings. I mean,
it fits my lifestyle better, but I don't like to
be there too early. I like to If I had
to choose, I would everybody would be still five minutes
before shooting lot. But Tyler probably thinks different on that
than I do.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
I'm probably somewhere between you and Mark Kenyon. Yeah, I
like to be there.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
I don't. I just like.

Speaker 5 (40:36):
I know what it's going to take a lot of
times in Eric's my camera guy a lot, and he's
a real prompt guy. So if I tell him we're
leaving it for twenty, He's like, Lord, he's on. He's
I mean, he might be early, you know, So we
get out before we leave for twenty.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
That's a good four fifteen in the morning.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
Sorry, I mean.

Speaker 5 (40:58):
If I say four to fifteen, Eric, my be in
the truck at four thirteen, you know, so we might
leave before then, and so, but I mean, I usually
am pretty good at being in a tree and settled.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Somewhere.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
Around the time it's starting to you can kind of
see it getting different, a different light, you know what
I mean. So it's not like I'm not like looking
up in the sky necessarily, but being able to like
see out there see a bush just a little bit
better than you could for the last two hours, you know.
I mean, but I don't necessarily like get they're super

(41:37):
early unless I feel really confident that it's going to
help me. So like if I'm close to food or
something like that, then so it depends, you know, where
I'm hunting.

Speaker 3 (41:46):
Two things worked against me, and that is, for one,
I don't like to be cold in the mornings. It
just I just hate ripping the band aid off and
stepping out in the cold. And the other thing is
that I like to sit around camp and jack around
in the mornings, and that really gets me in trouble.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
It would be in late.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
I get up on time, just fine. It's just being
productive in the mornings is a hard thing. And in
the afternoons we're always trying to get worked one midday
and we end up later than we want to be
almost every day in.

Speaker 5 (42:14):
The it's that rough fresh podcast. Man, come on, stupid.
What's your thoughts on e bikes? I like them, I'd
love to have one. I wish I was THNK gets tolen.
I wish they work. They sound effective for certain things.

Speaker 4 (42:32):
Yeah, what is the best tasting game meat?

Speaker 1 (42:37):
The best I've had? Neil Guy is my favorite so far.
Elk's good.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
I still think I like Elk better than Neil Guy,
but it's it's real hard to tell the difference. Hog
Hog's good, but Neil Guy. I would say for me
to do more with the dark red stuff.

Speaker 1 (42:54):
Though, Yeah, I don't know. Man, Turkey's real good too.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Fish well, but I think game I do think animals
as supposed to fish.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
But about that Berkeley big game dude, I know, man,
you're right. I mean, you know fish are called game fish, right.

Speaker 5 (43:12):
Yeah, I'm with you, though, I was just playing the
flipside a little.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
Can you give a quick summary of meeting the hunting
pressure guys on Casey's Hunt?

Speaker 3 (43:24):
Is that one of them saying that I don't know
Jake Watts? Is that one I don't think so. No,
it's not one of them.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
Those guys are real nice dudes. They cuss a lot,
which is different than what I do. But but uh
we were uh we were brethren in the back country
and uh helpful dudes. And they also shot some nice
year as well. What's a good way to start a
hunting channel? MM, have ten years to devote.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
Don't start too narrow.

Speaker 3 (43:54):
Don't think that you're going to be the East Texas
saddle hunting uh big buckers dot com. You know, like honestly,
I would be as broad as you can with your idea.

Speaker 5 (44:09):
I would start some like meat eater meeter dot com.
That's what I would name my brain if I was You.

Speaker 4 (44:17):
Ever burned down the hole in the wall in town
after killing a buck man?

Speaker 5 (44:22):
That's like been a dream. But have we done that?
Maybe after Eric shot one one time?

Speaker 3 (44:28):
Yeah, yeah, which we don't. You know, we don't drink
or anything too much. But I do like to find
me a hometown Mexican food you want to go to
or whatever we can go to, you.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
Know, like it's a it's ah, it's pretty nice.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
I don't know, man, we really haven't got to do
just the whole like thing too much a lot of
times because we have more than one tag holder, so
it's like, yeah, let's celebrate, but then get back to it.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
The like.

Speaker 4 (44:54):
Most memorable one I can remember is South Dakota twenty
twenty one.

Speaker 1 (44:59):
After we got Mine and Hunters.

Speaker 4 (45:00):
Yeah, and we went to McDonald's.

Speaker 1 (45:02):
Oh that was the worst.

Speaker 5 (45:06):
I did not I was so hungry and I didn't
want to I didn't want to be at McDonald's.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
I was like, I got to go to bed. What
sticks are you guys using? First saddle hunting man? I
hate to be a fanboy, but you are. But I
am those tethered one.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
I got some freak tethered ones this year and they
are sick. Yep.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
I don't think I'd ever pay that much for sticks,
even if I wanted the baddest ones out there. But
when they're free, I didn't even know they're expensive, Like
one hundred twenty bucks a stick.

Speaker 1 (45:35):
Yeah, that would be tough.

Speaker 5 (45:38):
Yeah, but you know, if you had a different job
where you actually made pretty good money.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Yeah, what's on hundred twenty bucks nowadays? You know? Right?
But the time is now to buy because it's only
going up for sure.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
Investing product, yeah, that's exactly right. But uh, I also
really like those uh uh what was muddies that you have? Yeah,
pro stick, muddy prostick. Those are really nice.

Speaker 5 (46:06):
They're they're quite like once you use those one sticks,
it's hard to go back. I like the cam cleat
system a lot, but but the I mean, honestly, with
the am steel ropes, I mean, it's real quick and
easy just to loop them and tie a simple overhand
and be up in the tree.

Speaker 1 (46:26):
In my opinion, which is that's how I do it.
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (46:28):
There may be a specific nod that keeps you safer,
So don't take my word for the simple overhand thing.

Speaker 1 (46:33):
I'm just what's the thing we so I don't know
about y'all. You know your caremeter clip is unscrewed. Close
the screw gate.

Speaker 4 (46:44):
Any Turkey hunt content coming up? Yeah, a lot of it,
for sure. We actually have a lot.

Speaker 5 (46:51):
Yeah, probably two months from now or so, probably start
seeing some of that.

Speaker 4 (46:57):
Is there a way to hunt Neil guy without paying
or drawing a tag?

Speaker 1 (47:01):
I don't know like that. I'd love to.

Speaker 3 (47:06):
Where's Hunter dickens at? Again, He's probably in Palestine if
I had to. It's such a star I know, dude,
get him on here. That's uh nice. We could have
some of his video. I feel like we had more
questions roll through our thing than what Yeah, if you're
on the live, I ask more questions.

Speaker 1 (47:21):
If I can wrap this.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
Last on Instagram real quick?

Speaker 1 (47:25):
If yes, If there's some on Instagram that.

Speaker 5 (47:27):
Have any more hunting plans for this season, yeah, always
we're hunting constantly. I mean that's just something I do.
Like I if I didn't even film my stuff, I'd
be walking out with a gun.

Speaker 3 (47:36):
There's like property potentially a couple more white tail hunts
even this season. You ever going to hunt black bears
in Saskatchewan?

Speaker 1 (47:45):
I don't know about Saskatchewan, but I'd like to hunt
some black.

Speaker 5 (47:47):
Bears, Dude, I just don't. I just don't have it
in me right now too. And this could change, guys,
but right now I do not want to go sit
and just get eaten by flies and mosquitoes at a
bait pile in Saskatchewan for black bears.

Speaker 1 (48:00):
Is that what they do there? I think that's what
they do for the most part.

Speaker 5 (48:03):
I mean, who knows what there's you know, obviously people
also think all you do is shoot hogs. Of thermals.
When we do, we go stalking them in bows. But
I think that that's kind of what they do in Saskatchewan.

Speaker 1 (48:13):
I like that.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
I want to do that log and road. Yeah, like
a kind of stalk spot and stalk ing of thing. Yeah,
that'd be pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (48:21):
What is the biggest buck you've ever shot?

Speaker 1 (48:25):
Man? That's so that's a harder question than what.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
People think it is. I don't know the score of
my biggest buck, and I think that my biggest buck
isn't going to score very big because it's probably that
one I shot this year, even though he has a
side that just doesn't score.

Speaker 5 (48:42):
Yeah, twenty twenty one, I shot a deer. Probably most
of you have seen the video of that one. I
mean he just looks like a giant. He's got four
kickers or something like that. Just the mainframe tents, super heavy,
white kind of light. That's probably the biggest. It's gonna

(49:03):
be the biggest scoring dear that I've shot. But there's
some pretty big ones around too.

Speaker 1 (49:10):
That's a big one right behind me right there, isn't it.

Speaker 5 (49:13):
Yeah, that one that's a big, big And then I
shot twenty twelve.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
I think he's got split G two's.

Speaker 5 (49:19):
Yeah, he's a split he's a mainframe ten with split
GT's twos, so that makes him a twelve and then
he's got a split brow time that.

Speaker 1 (49:27):
Makes him at thirteen. Big dog shot him seventy five degrees.
Want to shut that door.

Speaker 3 (49:33):
I'd love to do that.

Speaker 4 (49:35):
If you could go anywhere to fish, where would it be?

Speaker 1 (49:38):
Panama? Say shells? Oh dang, that one's a going too that.
I mean that's tough.

Speaker 5 (49:46):
Probably probably Panama say shells would be I don't know,
say shells be harder to get to. So probably if
I just had any option to go anywhere, somebody's like, hey,
here's all the money you want to go wherever you
want to go, it's probably say shells, because I I
could get to paint them all at some point.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
Stay shows are like the most remote place in the world.
It's like you think Easter Islands remote?

Speaker 1 (50:07):
Did fly four.

Speaker 3 (50:07):
Hours to the other direction? Yeah, i'dn't even say what's
east or west out there because it's such a weird place.

Speaker 1 (50:14):
So I agree with you. I was looking at some
stuff like that last.

Speaker 5 (50:17):
I like to get on Google Earth and just go
out into the ocean and look at stuff and I
literally doing that last week, and I was like, is
this like Pacific?

Speaker 3 (50:27):
Is this like?

Speaker 1 (50:28):
What what do they call this out here?

Speaker 4 (50:30):
You know, this person saw the Pennsylvania Map Scout Challenge video.
There were some apple trees in one of the spots.
Did you guys end up hunting that area?

Speaker 5 (50:41):
We put a camera there? Yeah, and it had some
cool stuff on it. A black beary, a black beerry.
It looked like a nice one, a nice buck. I
think there was like a Martin or something.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
Probably.

Speaker 5 (50:53):
Yeah, I think that a lot of those pictures were
in that video.

Speaker 4 (50:57):
If a three and a half year old deer is
one thirty, how big would it be next year?

Speaker 1 (51:05):
Forty five? The biggest jump is between two and three,
is that right? Or one and two somewhere in there.

Speaker 3 (51:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (51:11):
They say that the they say that the skeletal body
or the skeletal system stops growing at four and a
half on a big buck.

Speaker 1 (51:19):
I don't know if that's true or not, but.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
Yeah, and there's a lot of descrepancy in that stuff,
but it's probably pretty good.

Speaker 1 (51:24):
Pretty answer.

Speaker 5 (51:25):
Yeah, I'd say one one forty five ish. I think
fifteen inches a year is pretty standard for a lot
of a lot of deer.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
It also depends on the size that they are. Yeah,
you know, it's it's very exponential, which you said one thirty.
But if a deer's like a one fifty is three,
he's alloable to be a boooner as.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
A four year old. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (51:42):
And then and then also like non typical, the non
typical traits that it has, because as we've seen with
certain deer, can you see and I've talked about some
deer that people are like, oh, it's two hundred, I'm like, goh,
how does that go two hundred? Well, I guess if
it has you know, thirty inches in flyers and drops
and you know it's really just a one sixty seven

(52:04):
that has a bunch of drops and flyers.

Speaker 4 (52:07):
So how does your other half feel about all your hunting,
all of it?

Speaker 1 (52:15):
Like as in it every single hunt? Do you mean?
Tyler and I are like that we also have they
love it now? Yeah? They no.

Speaker 5 (52:25):
I mean it's it's tough for sure to like go
and leave your family and you know, nine days later,
come back and like, uh, you know, your wife's been
leading your house for nine days and take care of stuff,
and then you come back and it's like, well, who's
this guy that wants to rule the house?

Speaker 1 (52:44):
You know.

Speaker 5 (52:45):
So there's there's things for sure, But I mean we
were listening to comedian last night Kally and I and
is a female, and she was talking about how her
husband is h He's worked for a mobile home company
for forever and has traveled a ton. So I mean,
I'd rather travel a ton hunting than doing the mobile

(53:09):
home thing. And I feel pretty happy and blessed to
be able to do that. So I think that helps
overall my mentality too a lot of times. And she
appreciates and supports that I get to do something that
it really does give me joy.

Speaker 1 (53:20):
You know.

Speaker 3 (53:22):
Yeah, I think that my wife likes the whole overall concept.
But it's the uh, the like the micro things that
are tough.

Speaker 1 (53:33):
It's like you have to leave today.

Speaker 3 (53:34):
It's like, yeah, you just want to do for a living,
you know, Like it's it's hard, it's hard to kind
of get over that.

Speaker 4 (53:40):
Sometimes y'all got that new fuzzy first sight stuff. Potentially
maybe you've probably seen it in the like a fuzzy
on is that like.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
Like that Mitchpberg joke. I think Bigfoot is fuzzy.

Speaker 4 (53:58):
We got two questions back to back. What broadheads do
you guys use both for hogs and white tail sharp
well for hogs sometimes dull.

Speaker 3 (54:08):
But three blade mechanicals, big three blade mechanicals are hard
to beat pigs. Sometimes a fixed blade is something that's
nice to throw at them.

Speaker 5 (54:18):
If you shoot a heavy enough arrow had a pig
three big three blade mechanical, they're just fine pretty much
for most of them. But I think that big pig
that was at the front feeder. Did I shoot a
five hundred grand arrow at that thing? It did not
even touch anything.

Speaker 1 (54:39):
Now, giving you you.

Speaker 3 (54:42):
Shoot a plan B arrow on that one, you know
you hit him in a Plan B spot.

Speaker 5 (54:46):
So yeah, I mean, but still shoot a fairly heavy arrow.

Speaker 3 (54:51):
It's the east side of the argument, right, Like, you
hit them where you want to, then it's good to
shoot the thing that you really like. I don't know,
Greg just killed a watte deal with like old school magnus.

Speaker 5 (55:06):
Yeah, it's not the it's not the originator of the
Plan B thing that we're joking about, I guess as
much as it is the people who just are hateful
in Troy.

Speaker 3 (55:24):
He's like a cool dude and he's Yeah, he's very
open minded about things.

Speaker 5 (55:28):
But the people that like get on that ship and
then just are shooting bombs all over the place of
other ships in the ocean that we don't love.

Speaker 1 (55:36):
That for sure.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
If you had two thousand acres, would you highense it?

Speaker 3 (55:42):
No?

Speaker 5 (55:44):
Oh no, I wouldn't unless I had other good places
to deer hunt. And I was like, you know what,
I want to put a bunch of axes in crazy stuff.

Speaker 1 (55:55):
Listen, I might do that fallow or cool foul.

Speaker 5 (55:58):
I wanted a foulow for a long time when I
was young, But like, I always thought the follow were
cooler than the axis when I was growing up. Now
I think the axis is cooler, I think, but their
color phases are cool too. Yeah, axes don't have that, Yeah,
but they're pretty. I saw a at the show DFC.
I saw a black and Paula. Did you see that?

Speaker 1 (56:18):
Yeah? I don't know if I saw it or not.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
But they're doing some weird stuff in Africa where they're
like trying to there's so many outfits they're trying to
make theyres appealing, so they're like doing some some really
active breeding regulation. Yeah, have you seen the red wilder bests,
you know, like they're doing things that you wouldn't have
found on the planes and so that.

Speaker 1 (56:41):
But that's right, it's just hard to beasts wilderbeest mixed.

Speaker 4 (56:43):
Maybe this person says, I noticed a lot of people

(57:12):
shoot small, slash young deer in Texas instead of letting
them grow older. Would you shoot a small deer to
fill the freezer? Where's this guy from?

Speaker 1 (57:20):
That's a good question. There's a couple things to this.

Speaker 3 (57:23):
Go ahead, dollar, Well, I don't know if that's a
Texan thing.

Speaker 1 (57:30):
Okay, Texas.

Speaker 5 (57:31):
I believe the research shows that Texas has the highest
number of three plus year old bucks shot per hunter
or something like that out of a whole US.

Speaker 1 (57:39):
I think that people don't understand what three and four
year olds look like in Texas. Yeah, I think that's
probably they.

Speaker 3 (57:44):
Don't look they don't look old. Like Greg shot that deer.
If you watched the buck truck, Greg shot that deer
that was a six point that scored like seventy inches
and they said it was five and a half years old.
So like deer wid ninety five pounds of Maybe, so
what you're thinking is a young, small deer is probably

(58:04):
a mature bug. But there are some young small ones here,
and in fact, most counties, is it most? A lot
of counties have antler restrictions that by you know, like
de facto shoot three year old pluses because they have
to be thirteen inches wide. So like, uh, it's ah,

(58:25):
so I would say that you might be off on
that if you think that people shoot young deer here.
I mean, I'm not I'm not trying to be argumentative.

Speaker 5 (58:35):
I'm just saying, no, that's what that's kind of where
I'm at. It is like I just don't I don't.
I don't know where that exactly is the case. I mean,
there's some some places right that don't have antler restrictions.
But I was like, I thought it was like two
undred and seventy four counties or something. How many counties
are in techna. I think maybe that's the number of counties.
I think that's the number of maybe fifty six or

(58:55):
but there's like I feel like there's a bunch of
them that have I can't remember if somebody could probably
look that up and fact check.

Speaker 1 (59:03):
It for me.

Speaker 4 (59:05):
What was your most enjoyable hunt this year?

Speaker 1 (59:09):
Ever?

Speaker 5 (59:10):
Ever, I can tell you which one it wasn't. Actually,
I can tell you several it wasn't. I don't know, man,
Nebraska this year was fun. I had fun that was enjoyable.
Like that was like things came together.

Speaker 3 (59:31):
Well.

Speaker 5 (59:33):
There was a lot of animals. It was like there
was no boring time in the stand really at all.
Even when Eric and I hunted the first couple of
days kind of closer to the house, like there was
no deer, but we were seeing turkeys and owls and
all kinds of stuff.

Speaker 1 (59:50):
You know. It was just I don't know, and it
was good weather. I liked it a lot.

Speaker 4 (59:58):
Our three hundred pound bores common in East Texas.

Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
I don't know my answers, so I don't have anything.
So I was trying to know it's fine you and me.
You kind of right to do it on because I don't know.
I like, well, think of a hunt, I was like, man,
that was awesome, and then I think about like how terrible
it was for the first five days before it killed
something or whatever, you know, so like, I don't know, Yeah,
that's a real hard I think about Arkansas last year,

(01:00:24):
but actually the hunt was terrible. It was hard.

Speaker 5 (01:00:26):
It was also excruciatingly hard to get up in the
morning sometimes.

Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
And it was wet the whole time.

Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
But like the company was good and the figure was good,
and it was it was great, you know. So like
I don't know, I think if I was to put
an optimistic expell on it, it's like I enjoy all
of them, even when they're tough, So it's kind of
hard for me to now I say that, I don't know,
there's a few to stick out. I won't I want
aust anything there, but like there's there's a couple.

Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
That were, I guess cooler than others. I went on
a hunt with my friend Cody when we were in college.
I think we had a lease in Oklahoma and it snowed.
It was a really good cold front weekend snowed and
so we didn't have to Like we had this awesome
picture where he shot like one hundred and forty eight
inch ten point shod four years. Yeah, we shot sand hills,

(01:01:17):
We shot Canada geese, specs, pheasants, quail, and I think
we shot at Duck and like throughout the three day
span or whatever, and then there was snowing, so we
just kept throwing stuff out in snow beside the house.
You know, and we had like a picture with everything
that we did in that two two or three day
span there, and it was I don't know, it's really

(01:01:40):
cool to like that picture is one of my favorite
pictures and it was one of the my favorite hunts
because that's what I want to do. That's what that's
what the element was when we started. It wasn't a
white tail specific thing necessarily, or didn't. I didn't want
it to ever be too much that way because I
just love hunting and fishing everything.

Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
Our three hundred pound bores common and he's Texas.

Speaker 1 (01:02:01):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
There, it's a thing that can happen. But I mean
we we hunt a property close to here that would
you say collectively spent thirty hunts forty maybe forty hunts
between the two of us out there in the past
two years. I mean the one you shot in the
shoulder that we didn't couldn't recover was probably the only

(01:02:24):
one I think would push that.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
What's your favorite Bible verse?

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 5 (01:02:33):
I know one that's been on the heart lately. I
gotta look the uh so Matthew six twenty six. I've
had a lot of anxiety lately and it's not good
And that's not a good thing. That's like a trust issue,
you know with God. So uh, Matthew six twenty six.

(01:02:53):
Look at the birds of the air. They neither reap,
nor sow nor gather into barns, Yet your heavenly Father
still feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they?
And who by being anxious could add a single hour
to his span of life? That's twenty seventh first, And
that's just to me, is like essentially like, if you

(01:03:14):
know God finds a way to sustain sparrows, man, how
much more is he going to care about somebody and
something that has a soul? So why would you be anxious?
There's a you know, I've been also doing an ecclesiastic
study and it talks about how Casey says this a
lot too, But how the foolishness of God is, you know,

(01:03:36):
the most wise a man could ever be, essentially right,
So you know, in all of my wisdom that I'd
like to have, I don't like. I still I still
could never grasp God's plan, his redemptive plan for humanity,
much less I mean much myself, but much less humanity. Right,

(01:03:59):
So I don't know all the workings and why things
are happening, and that's okay, and it's okay to trust
God in that situation. So those two things kind of
parallel in my last week or so, probably in my
studies and thoughts.

Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
It's good.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Mine always rotates and I get all the numbers mixed up.
But what I always do remember is Probabs one seven
is the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
which is.

Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
It's pretty profound thought.

Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
Right, if you are a Christian, you have to it
helps you understand that you didn't know anything until you
knew the Lord.

Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
Right. In the end, I guess I'm.

Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Always which I believe this is a good thing in
a state of trying to be in some level of
self improvement in the context of Christianity, not that I
can do anything on my own, but that there are
things that we need to portray as Christians that show
that we are Christians right, And so Galatians five twenty

(01:04:59):
two is the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
gentlealous faithfulness, and self control.

Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
I think I hit all of them.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
I try to keep it memorized, and so that's if
there's something that I play back in my head often
it's that because I want to make sure and portraying
all of those qualities, because that is what a Christian does.

Speaker 4 (01:05:20):
Alrighty thoughts on frontal.

Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
Shots deadly shoot them, share them.

Speaker 5 (01:05:27):
Hey, we out here trying to kill stuff, that's right.
And if you're doing it with a stick and string,
especially man like there, you're you're saying, I'm taking a
chance that I willun something like.

Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
I mean, you do it.

Speaker 5 (01:05:38):
You can do that with a gun too, But you're
saying I want to challenge myself. So if you think
you've practiced enough and you're lethal with that thing at
a frontal shot, and you feel like it's within the
range that you of your lethality, get after it, man,
and you're just not gonna make every shot. I can
promise you, if you shoot enough shots, you're gonna mess
one up. You're not gonna shoot where you wanted to,

(01:05:59):
and you may still kill it, but you didn't hit
it where you wanted to. It's hunting, it's not harvesting.
It's not going out there and cutting the head off
a chicken. It's just not I think that the emphasis on.

Speaker 3 (01:06:10):
Knowing what you're capable of is a big thing on
that too, though, Like, I'm all about shoot in front
of shots. But if you're the kind of guy who's
kind of poplayed at thirty kind of guy, I probably
don't need to shoot him.

Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
But if you're a you know, a golf ball.

Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
At thirty kind of guy, which is pretty hard to do, like,
do it because that's that's uh, that's lethal. You also
need to consider what the animals doing, like for sure,
because these white tails and texas are sometimes not there
after when the arrow gets there, So I mean for real,

(01:06:45):
like I'm not.

Speaker 1 (01:06:46):
Joking, it happens, So just keep that in mind.

Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
I had a couple more saddle questions again, where are
you using or suggests?

Speaker 3 (01:06:54):
Yeah, back at the beginning, we answered a couple of those,
and then.

Speaker 4 (01:07:01):
Sorry, there's a lot of comments, Oh, do you all
prefer bake casters or spinning reels.

Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
I'm a bait caster guy, but yeah, eighty percent of
the time bait caster. There's a few applications where I
like a spinning reel, but a lot of that salt
water too. I like, I like, if I'm fishing the
surf and I'm using like small to medium tackle I'm
gonna use a spinning reel. That's that's real specific. Anytime

(01:07:33):
you have to cast into the wind with lightweight stuff
as spinning reels a way to go.

Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
But otherwise makecaster.

Speaker 4 (01:07:41):
If a non Christian asked you why you believe in God,
what would you say?

Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
This is? Would you like to take a seat? I mean,
the evidence is plentiful. The rooms one yeah, romans one right.

Speaker 3 (01:07:56):
Twenty eight said it was one twenty eight one something, right, Like,
look at that sunset? Do you like a sunset? It
ain't the same as the one those there yesterday? You know,
and everything out there points to a divine inspiration.

Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
Yeah, I just think.

Speaker 5 (01:08:14):
It's crazier to think that this sea foam that somehow
existed without a god and some light that was there,
but without a god. Yeah, there has to be a god, right,
and now you gotta gotta get the right God.

Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
I feel like too, But.

Speaker 5 (01:08:33):
Yeah, I mean, I just like, I can't sit out
there and watch sunrises, and that's like, and that's the basis,
that's just the basic right, like, And if you read
the Bible, it's unbelievable. It is unbelievable the things that
are revelatory in there and that parallel with each other
and connect throughout the Bible. There's no other way the

(01:08:55):
stuff this stuff is, you know, comes together like this
without being divinely inspired.

Speaker 3 (01:09:02):
I also think that it's pretty important from the Christian
side in that conversation to not be offensive with your comment.

Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
It's kind of like a way you're an idiot or not.

Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
Yeah, yeah, you know, like because if somebody's asking you,
they're probably asking you in trust either that or they're
trying to trap you, and you might have a good
idea of what they are doing as they asked the question,
so your answers could be different. You don't ever have
to add answer any question anybody asks you. You can just
turn it around. If they're trying to trap you, just
be like, well, why don't you believe God? And then

(01:09:32):
you have a better understanding of where they are.

Speaker 5 (01:09:34):
But I don't know is an okay answer? Yeah, because
you have to have faith at the end of the day,
Like there has to be a faith. Aspect of faith
means that there's a bridge to gap there, a gap
to bridge there, and the faith is the bridge and
you you don't I mean, just like I said with
the ecclesiastic stuff earlier. It's like if I had the
most wisdom that I could have, if I was Solomon,

(01:09:56):
then I still don't have. It's still foolishness to God. Right, So,
like there's a faith to be placed in something that created,
like these plants out here to pollinate each other and
people to proliferate the earth and all water to have
a hydro system that you know, evaporates, rains, gets drunk

(01:10:19):
and then back, you know, into evaporation. Like it's just
crazy to think about all of that, and then not
just you have to have faith. Though you have to
have faith, there's no certainty at the beginning there.

Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
The The other thing too is if somebody is asking
you earnestly, you know, we're called to have testimony for
what we do believe in though you know, so if
you don't know, you need to do some thinking about it.
And then too, I think that just the nature of
our belief as Christians points towards having an enemy, right,

(01:10:58):
So like Christianity is only belief out there that people
are going to actively work against. It's going to be
the only belief in general that tells you to put
aside you're humanly and work against yourself. Right, Even things
like Hinduism, which is generally a peaceful religion, is going

(01:11:21):
to be focusing on the person, right, and all the
other religions out there as well are going to be
works based. Christianity doesn't ask anything of you except for
full commitment. At the same time, it's complicated, right, but.

Speaker 5 (01:11:39):
Anyway, so at the point of justification, at the point
of your salvation, there's nothing that you did there, and
therefore you know it's the only like everything else that
case you said is works based. You have to earn
your way into salvation.

Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
I think.

Speaker 4 (01:11:58):
A misconception for non believers is like that everything's just
happy and joyful when you are a believer. But really
it's more that like you're at peace knowing things that,
like you don't have to worry, and like it's just
just like a misconception. I feel like that everything's just

(01:12:19):
perfect and happy, but more you just know how to
deal with stress, storms, anxiety.

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
And all that. Yep, that's a good point.

Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
What is your favorite fishing lure?

Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Hmmm, Stop, don't don't say something weird here. No, I'm
trying to think, like just saying in general, it's pretty hard.
If I was gonna say, give me something that's gonna
catch fish anywhere, I would say a silverspoon. Really uh huh. Yeah,
it's not a bad idea, but it's not gonna be

(01:12:53):
what I pick. Most of the time.

Speaker 5 (01:12:54):
I was thinking bass fishing the whole. But you make
a good point. He didn't really say bass fishing is
his favorite fishing. I mean you can go to the
serf and ketch fish on that.

Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
You can go out deep ktch fish and superspoon you
can catch bass on that. You can have a smaller
version of catch crappie, you know, and catch trout.

Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
I mean trout probably been caught on spoon this morningything else,
you know. So I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:13:14):
I like swim baits, yeah, uh, but I was thinking
I was thinking bass. I was thinking I would throw
a Texas rigged lizard in a lot of situations.

Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
My favorite way to catch them is on top water side.
I love throwing jitterbugs. And I don't know if if
you want to narrow it down to bass scum frog,
I'm gonna throw like a like a weedless uh, top
water frag.

Speaker 4 (01:13:39):
What's a good camera price? Uh, sir, what's a good
camera price, whise to start self filming with.

Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
And checking while a.

Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
Fifty three x fifty three check that out iPhone? Yeah,
well actually it might be more expensive than the Sony.

Speaker 1 (01:13:56):
So well yeah, but you don't have you have I phone?

Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
Yeah, don't go, don't go with the PLV, don't don't be.

Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
Choose no good good thought there. Do you guys have
any multie mobile promo codes?

Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
I don't think. So you can try typing in Element
and just see if it.

Speaker 3 (01:14:14):
Gets you something.

Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
Yeah, I don't know, I don't know, Sorry about that.
What's the biggest fish you have caught? Biggest fish?

Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
I caught a seven foot one inch bull shark. I
caught a five foot black tip. Favorite favorite red fish
or sea trout lure? I never caught a red fish
Zara spook yeah or something really okay? Slow bass worms

(01:14:46):
takes his rig ye, so that would be that's I
mean trout. It's kind of tough, I mean, honestly, Uh,
A clouds or mina is hard to beat.

Speaker 1 (01:14:58):
It's a.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Got it.

Speaker 5 (01:15:01):
Yeah, mena, mena. I've eaten a mako shark. Somebody asked
if I've already eaten a shark. I ate maco steak
one time. It is really good.

Speaker 3 (01:15:08):
I've eaten a couple of black tips we caught and
I didn't like it very much. That so, macOS are
part of a genus of shark I think, or maybe
it's the next one up from Germany.

Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
It's a family. They're from a family of sharks.

Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
That uh don't secrete urea through their skin, which would
include macOS, great whites and poor beagles everything else.

Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
Shoot peas through its skin.

Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
I'd love to eat a great white me too. Talk
about all the americay baby and give it to me.
But all the other ones do and you have to
kind of put them through a process to make them
taste good. And in general, I'm not big on meat
that you have to like do stuff too to make
it good. Yeah, that's a good point. Salt and pepper
is pretty such for sausage.

Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
I like sausage a lot. Yeah, but that's different. Have
you and shark? Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
What version of the Bible is your favorite?

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
New American Standard is what I read most of the time.

Speaker 3 (01:16:09):
It's a word for word translation, which I think there's
a lot of good word for word translations, But that
would be something I would emphasize as being a good
thing to look for. We use es V mostly within
my church, so that's that's what I'm used to. I've
been reading in IV a little bit lately. What's your
favorite hunt?

Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
On? Favorite hunt ever?

Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
On camera or off?

Speaker 5 (01:16:32):
That was an accident, by the way to my Bible
app changed over to IV and I was like, I'm sure.

Speaker 3 (01:16:37):
It was like, oh cool, I've read a lot in
iv I since I've moved away from it a little bit.

Speaker 5 (01:16:44):
Yeah, it's got some things that I don't really like,
but it's been a week and I was like, I
just left it. I was like, I want to see
how this goes for.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
A little bit in I V if if we want
to get into this a little bit, Okay, I'm not
the expert to the and I I and I V
does two things. It speaks in non gender language sometimes,
which is weird. And the n IVY also tries I
shouldn't say trust. It lends itself to remove a little

(01:17:13):
miraculous out of things.

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
In certain times.

Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
There are a lot of believers that will be in
heaven that read the Ivy Bible. Though I'm not saying
it's it's there's a sentiment that it's the non inspired version,
which I don't really go by that too much.

Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
Favorite hunt ever, on camera or off? Do you think
that's of ours? Or is that I probably ours? Yeah? Ours? Sorry?

Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
Irish irish?

Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
Uh oh, I was thinking about this other day. Man.
The Nebraska buck truck hunt was hard to beat. I
like nameless.

Speaker 5 (01:17:56):
I was giving sorry, I mean, and that's on cam, right,
but uh yeah, the one I talked about my friend
Cody was a good one too. How did the pig
spiders taste? I don't remember, do you when the Garrett hog?

Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
Yeah, I don't remember.

Speaker 5 (01:18:14):
It tastes like ref beans or something. I think, Yeah, yeah,
probably pretty nasty.

Speaker 4 (01:18:20):
Do you prefer conventional or fly fishing more?

Speaker 1 (01:18:24):
It just depends. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:18:26):
I mean I think about fly fishing more because it's
kind of like bow hunting versus gun. But I did
some gun hunting this year and I had a lot
of fun.

Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
So a lot of fly fishing is site fishing, and
I think that that's why I actually like it.

Speaker 1 (01:18:39):
I don't think I like that I have to do
this a whole lot, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
It's not the act of fly fishing that I like it,
it's where it takes you, and yeah, the pretty fish
and the like.

Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
Good thought, like the envelopment of fishing experience.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
But a lot conventional because a lot of times you're
fishing for bigger fish with conventional.

Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
Yeah, you guys are ready for the Bahamas?

Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
Sure? Always.

Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:19:05):
This person is just saying that it's their birthday and
they love the channel and they just turned thirteen and
would like what's his name?

Speaker 1 (01:19:13):
Melissa? Oh sweet Melissa.

Speaker 4 (01:19:18):
Would you guys ever consider doing a weekly livestream Bible study?

Speaker 5 (01:19:23):
Yeah, I actually thought about this last night. I thought
about this last night, and then I was like, man,
I'm an idiot, so I didn't I didn't take the initiative.
What is your favorite gun?

Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
I don't have any guns. I lost them all in
a boating accident. Yeah, me too, that's the same exit.
Do you want to belie? But if I looked at
the wall on somebody else's guns. I'm a big thing
of AR fifteen platform. I like how madular it is
and how many different calibers you can get in. I

(01:20:01):
like thirty thirties.

Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
I like.

Speaker 5 (01:20:10):
I like, uh, handguns. I think they're cool. Yeah, yep,
I wish I could have some. Do you want to
be on Meat Eat or Trivia more.

Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
No Tyler's two for two man, yep, big winner. I
want to go out just one. Would you always mind
be on the main show?

Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
What's that like?

Speaker 4 (01:20:37):
Would you ever pay to shoot a two hundred plus
inch deer?

Speaker 1 (01:20:40):
For sure? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
Sure, I don't know. It depends on the context. But
if you mean Lisa Property that the deer's on?

Speaker 1 (01:20:47):
Yeah every year? Do you all like country music? Yeah?
I have to say yes. Man, this is vague not
like currently uh.

Speaker 5 (01:21:02):
Like like I don't like the country music that's on
radio right now, I guess you'd say, but like, yes,
I like country music generally speaking.

Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
I have been wild Horses by Garth Brooks, been singing
that losing.

Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
I've seen a question earlier. I think I just skipped
about what is your favorite song?

Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
Bravest song? Ever? How great that are Art is my
favorite song.

Speaker 5 (01:21:29):
I've been playing that on guitar and sings my soul
man and then now I gotta do a Christian song
the Red Yeah, thank you, thanks Manu. The only like
songs that I play like I do like Bright of

(01:21:49):
the Earth. Thanks man I wish that Eric would put
it at the intro of our podcast should do that
this one. Yeah, the file, it's in the drive.

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
It is.

Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
I like, I'm a real big fan of Come Now
fount since we have to do You like that song?

Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
It really is the thing, is it? Yeah? I don't
think so.

Speaker 5 (01:22:13):
I don't know anybody in my congregation that's like that's
my favorite song. Yeah, but I do know a lot of.

Speaker 1 (01:22:21):
Non instrumentalists that like, how great that are undulations in
our voices?

Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:22:28):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
My favorite secular song ever? Uh probably best of You
by Food Fighters. Gosh, I can answer that.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
I don't know. I know you're gonna give you what
is it? My chemical romance? You think? But I love?

Speaker 3 (01:22:47):
And then I also really like uh uh see, I'll
go blank because I don't listen to songs that much.
I mean, carrying Your Love with Me is a classic
by George Straight. There's some good Georgian's. Yeah, I don't
know what about you ain't made my taxes? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
I like, uh uh, I.

Speaker 3 (01:23:09):
Can't help fall in Love with You, which Elvis Presley recorded,
but I think someone else actually first. I think a
lot of people have covered it or changed it or
but the Elvis version is good. Some Queen you like
some queen. Do you like some queen having a good time?

Speaker 4 (01:23:30):
Have you ever seen deer eat wild ferns?

Speaker 1 (01:23:33):
Mm hmmm. We don't live an old fern country around here.
I need here feel the fern? Would you? Would you?

Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
Sorry?

Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
Would y'all?

Speaker 4 (01:23:46):
I'm assuming hang up the compound and try long bow,
not hang it up.

Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
I try long bow, but I picked up a gun
this year though. I like to kill stuff and that
long bow is a good way to focus on your craft. Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:24:01):
Do you guys get or hunt? I would love to,
but never been. Can't get it, can't get a tag?

Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
All right? Last question, Eric, I gotta to you know,
appreciate you all on the live here. It's been a
lot of fun on snow day. Well.

Speaker 4 (01:24:16):
The only other question we have is would you consider
adding someone who knows nothing about hunting to the team?

Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:24:22):
No, well it depends how much do you know about
cameras or how much money do you have? That's right.
What's your favorite way to cook meat? Fire?

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
I like smoke, Uh, butter and a skillet. I think
it's my favorite way to cook meat. I think my
favorite way to cook meat I like cooking on a
on a griddle, A lot, so I would say pretty

(01:24:57):
similar to what Case's doing.

Speaker 5 (01:25:00):
That's all of them all oil a lot though too.
Like the Fragrance, it's pretty tasty. Thanks for all the
answer questions and we were welcome for all the answers.

Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Sorry for the technical difficulties at the beginning.

Speaker 5 (01:25:12):
