Speaker 1 (00:03):
The following is a presentation of the College Athletes Network.
It's kind of been something that a lot of people
have been asking me about, like are you coming back
for the fifth year, Like what are you doing? And
I've kind of just been telling everyone like, no, I'm done.
Like I've done my four years. I've had a hell
of a time. It's been the best time in my life,
just everything that's happened, and I just feel like it's
(00:25):
just time for me to move on. You know what's up? Everybody?
Welcoming to the Gimme Timmy Podcasts. This episode seventeen, I'm
Drew Timmy got my producer that's a new title and
(00:46):
co host Noah Buano here on the iHeartRadio College Athletes Network.
Make sure y'all are subscribed to the podcast. Leave us
at five star review if you'd be so kind. You
guys know the drill and Noah that's my instro man
hop in. It was great. You're getting better. I don't
The producer thing is not a new title, man, I've
been doing that the whole time. But thanks for finally noticing, man,
I appreciate you. All Right, we got off jam packed
(01:09):
episode today. We're gonna We're gonna coin this one that
did Drew Timmy tribute episode. We're gonna have the ultimate
one on one conversation just about Drew's historic career with
Gonzaga as he heads into senior night tomorrow after Chicago State.
That obviously comes after some news with Drew talking about
leaving Gonzaga and going to the NBA next year, so
we're gonna have him elaborate just on that decision and
(01:30):
those comments. We're recap this crazy weekend in Spokane and
the big w against Saint Mary's getting a share of
the WCC title and just being out me being out
in Spokane with so much fun. And then towards the
end of the show, we are going to get into
just a little bit of a quick game. It's gonna
probably be longer than quick because me and Drew talk
a lot, So we're gonna have a little fun game
(01:52):
at the end to recap a lot of Drew's memories,
you know, within the Gonzaga program, So a lot in
store today. I'm excited for it, yeah, man. But before
we get going, Man, how did it feel to pop
your five on nine? Sherry? How'd you like the week?
Nun can is different. Man, I didn't know what to expect,
but like Spokane, the Kennel, Gonzaga, it was. It was
fire I mean I was up at five am Saturday
(02:14):
morning to go to college game day and Shadow j
billis so shout out to him for letting me come
on do that. That was awesome. And yeah, just the
whole environment. I got a glimpse of the student section
like during game day, like up close and personal and
they're absolutely out of their minds and I love it.
And then just like being around your family, going to
the bars where we go went to Logans and Barrachos
(02:36):
after the game, and then the game itself and hanging
out with your teammates, getting to Meat coach few like
all guys that I've like weirdly talked to because we've
had them on the podcast, and I was able to
just like go up to him introduce myself in person.
Same with Tron Farnham, Ja Bill. It was just ultimate vibes.
Like I flew there for one day for Saturday. My
I mean, it was fire man, I'm coming back. I'm
(02:59):
coming back, bro. I like that. The best part was
obviously though, like stay in the night with me, right
I had an awesome slumber party. Yeah kind of Well
I wasn't even invited to sleep in the room, man,
I was. I actually was like bunk buddies with Ton.
So shout out Anton for actually having a bed for me.
Suck man. This podcast room cannot be tainted by you
(03:23):
your presence. You know, I need you out of here.
This is my this is my podcast man. I walked
in there and I said immediately said to you, wow,
you have the worst podcast studio ever. At least I
didn't hammer up shelves and books that I haven't read
up on my heay, I've read every book. No, no, no no,
fuck you, I've read every book up here. No, that's
no bullshit. The only thing I haven't used up here
(03:43):
behind me is that little corny pac Man machine because
I don't have batteries for it. But I'm actually like,
that's like a cool vintage item. Don't hate bro. You
got that corny little flag behind you and messy clothes.
No no, no, no, no, no no no, I ain't
nothing corny about that flag. Man. Yeah, but Spokane was
a blast. Being around your fan was awesome. Mama, Timmy, Papa, Timmy,
(04:07):
great people just electric vibes, like just and then honestly,
one of my favorite moments that I wasn't was not expecting,
Like I knew it was gonna be a thing, but
like I just didn't really like picture it to my
head was we went to the bar ahead of you guys.
You and Tom came right after, and like I didn't
know you were walking in, but like you just like
a pick your head up and you hear this massive
(04:28):
roar and you're like, oh, that makes sense, Like the
buoys just rolled in. But it was just so funny
because like, you know, you had this big game. Gonzaga
is such like a Spokane's like a tight community, and
Gonzac the so is the Gonzag community. You guys walk in,
I'm just like, Wow, that's lit, bro. Like so, I
just there's so many cool moments, but that was one
that stood out to me, Like, oh, I gotta we
(04:49):
gotta give a shout out to how Too. I never
met how in person. How is Drew's agent. Another great guy.
Just a bunch of great people, man like great gay weekend.
Gotta run that back, no question, gotta run that back. Yes, Um,
all right, So as for today, before we kind of
dive into Drew's comments about, you know, leaving for the NBA.
UM let's recap the game, man, like you go first,
(05:12):
just just what are your thoughts? Yeah, man, it was
a it was a great game, like you said, kind
of like we were in the we had the wheel
the whole time, and uh, kind of like how it
was at their place. I felt like for about thirty
six minutes at their place we were in control and
then maybe maybe a little less than that, but somewhere
around there, and then this game we kind of had control.
They they made some good runs, but this time we
(05:34):
were able to kind of weather the storm and not
let it get out of hand like we did. And
I thought that was that was good growth from us
because it's been a while since we've had a like
a full forty beat like just kind of locked in
on defense and everything, and I thought, I thought it
was huge for us, and it was super exciting to
get that share of the title. You know, it's a
bit of a different position for me. I've never never
(05:55):
been in that situation here where we've had to play
to get the tide. It's usually like we're kind of chilling. So, uh,
it was a bit of a different feeling, but it
was it was super fun to get in them. Definitely
felt really good to get that, just with all that
we've been through this season so far. Yeah, it was
just a like crazy atmosphere to be a part of
being you have. The one moment that stood out to
(06:17):
me was you got that fourth foul with six thirty left.
And you can say whatever you want because you're not
gonna get fined in college basketball for shipping on the refs.
But what I just don't get it, Like I just
feel like Drew Timmy deserves well. Like there was a
loose whistle the whole game, Like Logan Johnson was out
the line a bunch of times, and you just can't
buy a call. I mean it's like I don't get it.
(06:39):
I don't get it. Something about Saint Mary's. I think
they're like one of the least like fouled teams in
the country, Like they commit the least amount of fouls.
They gotta be up there and like the one where
I rebounded, I got the like went for the rebound,
got the old board and like kind of cleared some space.
I'm like, bros have been like hitting us all game
and ship and then they like kind of flop, so
(06:59):
I was just like, damn, like that's kind of weak,
but you know, we got the so like that was
also my my, I think my favorite moment of the game,
outside of the nasty getting to see the nasty right
to left spin, left handed finishing person outside of that,
because that was sick. Oh, and outside of you going
(07:19):
perfect from the free throw line, because that was also sick.
Bravo to you. Really just that, um my ultimate favorite
moment of the game was just like crowd was out
of it a little bit. Game was kind of slowing down,
and you grabbed a rebound, got fouled on it and
just started smacking the ball and roaring, and that roar
just electrified the crowd. Like just little moments like that
(07:42):
when the star player like is able to do shit
like that and like, you know, you ignited what however,
many people were in that arena like and it was
just like I'm not even kidding, Like I wasn't like
I'm I'm involved in the game, I'm watching it, but
like it was getting to a point where it's like
all right, like they're up you know, fourteen, they're up twelve,
Like what they're gonna win the game. Like it's like, okay,
(08:03):
but I need a little spark plug. And I was
telling I was saying this to how after the game.
I was like, when Drew slammed that ball and started
high stepping and roaring, I was like, oh, yeah, we're back. Yeah.
Now I could kind of feel the tide dropping off
a little bit and like kind of count, you know,
like you don't want to get that hangover of energy necessarily.
And I just scored and then I got that valt
(08:25):
the rebound, and I was like, this seems like an
appropriate time to kind of put a little lighter fluid
around on the ground and just kind of throw a
match in there. So I thought it was a good
good chance to kind of tee everyone up. And man
did they did. They answer the bell and they kind
of tea everyone. You just can't not get teed up
when everyone goes crazy like that, like it was. It was.
It was a fun moment for sure. Yea, what do
(08:46):
they what do they call them the music director in
a live show that's waving their wand what do they
call the the opera director or not opera a name
for it? You're there's a title, you're that guy maestro?
Is it a maestro? Were stupid man? Because I don't
think it's either of those. I'm calling a crazy play.
(09:07):
You know what the conductor conductor or not? Oh okay,
well whatever that guy is. Whoever listening knows what that
guy is that waves the war the woman that waves
the wand and and I'm like, you know, crosses their
fingers and tells like the band to shut up, Like
you were that guy in that moment, and it was
like it just had to be sick, just being fully
(09:27):
in control of like all right, like let's go. I
need you guys to scream, and all you had to
do was just a quick little I was sweating when
I slammed that ball. I was like, oh god, please
don't get a technical ball. I was like, damns, like
they had to be done. You had that other moment too.
I think it was after an A one the big
screen showed you and you were like mouthing nah fuck
all the bullshit. I was like, it's because they called that.
(09:53):
It's because they called that foul on me. I think
when I was like guarding someone in the post, I'm like, bro,
I've been getting munched all game like, and I was like,
now y'all want they call a foul fuck that now
pitch ye type thing. But I don't think it's smart
for the camera to pandem me after A and one
or after I'm getting kind of intense. It's not a
good not good for the children at home, not good
(10:15):
for the children at the game, or people who are
not fans of Custom. Yeah, which is a lot of people,
which is understandable, but it is probably maybe good for
our podcast ratings. Knowing that it's like, wow, Drew Timmy uncensored.
He just says whatever he wants and that he does. Yeah,
speaking of that, we're gonna take a quick break, and
then Drew's going to talk about, you know, some of
those comments he made the other day to the Athletic
(10:38):
and we're gonna get into that, dive into that. Drew's
going to elaborate for us and just kind of break
down a decision. So that's all coming up right when
we come back. All right, and we're back on episode
seventeen of the Gimme Timmy Podcasts. That number is getting
bigger and bigger and juicier and juice. Here, guys, please
make sure you remember to subscribe to the podcast. We
do appreciate it. Drew. Let's dive into your comments the
(11:00):
other night after the game about moving on and going
to the NBA. Take the floor. Yeah, it's kind of
been something that a lot of people have been asking
me about, like are you coming back for the fifth year,
Like what are you doing? And I've kind of just
been telling everyone like, no, I'm done. Like I've I've
done my four years. I've had a hell of a time.
It's been the best time in my life, just everything
(11:22):
that's happened, and I just feel like it's just time
for me to move on. You know. I think it's
been a match made and have it's been the perfect
the perfect fit for me. I love everything about Gus Pokan,
the kennel, but I kind of just feel like it's
time for us to kind of say our goodbyes. You know.
I feel like I'm barring obviously, like the rest of
the season. I feel like I've done everything I can accomplish,
(11:44):
and I've put my my heart and soul and everything
I've had to give to this program in this city,
and I feel like, you know, it's kind of just
time to move on and branch out and do some
new challenges and everything. And I think that's the biggest difference,
especially from last year. I was I was not set
on leaving, and I was unsure if I was ready
for a new challenge and ready to say goodbye to
(12:04):
this place. And I feel like this year, I've kind
of just like taken another step and grown up and
I just feel so ready to leave, and I feel
like this place has prepared me so much for these
new challenges coming up that I just think it's it's
my time to say goodbye. And I think that's that's
kind of just the beauty of it is. I feel
like I've done everything but I can do here, and
(12:25):
I've done all these had all these accomplishments and accolades
and everything and continuing to work on them and everything.
And I feel like I've I've left my mark on
this program and it's left that's mark on me. And
we've kind of just reached this time where it's like, man,
what a time for the ride to end? You know,
I'm kind of just ready for the next chapter in
my life. But it's crazy to think about that, like
(12:45):
it's time. Yeah, Wow, man, you probably made a lot
of people, a lot of people emotional talking about that
because you are you know, I got to see it
firsthand more than be loved just among that whole community.
And obviously, you know, job's not finished. You got one
last rodeo to finish out. And it's just like a
(13:05):
surreal feeling man like this. You know, you hear a
lot of like people who have college careers like you,
or they're like, you know that place raised me type
of thing, like kind of helped you become a man.
And like you said, you weren't ready for last year,
you were a little indifferent about coming back. But I
mean everything you're saying, man, is normal. You know, four
years in, like it's most you don't do a fifth year,
(13:26):
you know what I mean, Like most people don't do
a fifth year. Yeah. And I mean also like I
feel like senior nights something special and like something that
like should be done one time, like it you should
do it twice, like for high school and then for
college obviously, And I kind of just feel like like
it's kind of the perfect, you know, perfect sunset ending
where you take the boat out, you know, you kind
of titanic it, and I'm like out te posing and
(13:48):
then like the kennel just behind, you know, Spike behind me.
Like it's been a it's been a great ride, and
I mean, obviously it's sad, but like there's no way
I'm going to be done with you. You like, I'm
always going to be involved. I'll be always come back
and be around, support the guys, the team coach, Like,
oh yeah, it's just time for a new a new
chapter for me, and I feel like I'm ready for it.
(14:10):
I'm excited for it and grateful for just what gu
has done for me. Yeah, and you know, we're gonna
get into a lot more on this podcast, like as
the NBA stuff kind of starts to come about, but
there's just no point right now and jumping ahead into
it because like I said, there's still so much more.
You know, you got the WCC Tournament, you got March Madness,
there's two big things left on the table to accomplish,
(14:32):
and there's just no reason to you know, pay any
mind to that that part of the future. It's but
it is nice for you to know in your head,
like going along with it because now you know there's
nothing to holding you back right now in these last
like three four weeks of the season to just give
it you're absolute at all, knowing that there is no like,
oh well, I can just come back next year. Like
it's like not exactly, this is it. Like that's kind
(14:53):
of that's kind of like what I'm excited for. It's
kind of nice. So it's kind of just get that
off my chest. I've kind of been feeling this way
for a while that like I want this to be
like my last ride, Like I think this is the
perfect way to go out, like and I just I
kind of wanted to do it my way, and I
was kind of I was kind of waiting on a
time to like announce it, and then kind of just
happened after that game. I just kind of got asked
(15:13):
that question out of the blue, and I was just
like perfect, I'll just answer right now. Should have been
on the podcast. You know, I'm a dumbass. I forgot
I have my own media outlet. But you know we're learning,
so right next news announcement, I'll make sure to break
on here. But bad coaching on my part, but we
forgive you. I'm excited for you, bro, you know, seeing
(15:34):
it getting like I'm I know I've said this three
times now, but being up close and personal to like Gonzaga,
to you, like just the whole vibe, like just getting
to see you, like how much you've really built there,
like you really have Like and you know, I didn't
pay attention to your freshman career at all. Like when
I saw a picture the other day of you as
a freshman, I was like, I don't know that guy,
Like I've never watched that dude freshman year at Gonzaga
(15:55):
play a game of basketball. Don't know him. But it
is cool just to like, and I'm sure it is
for a lot of people just to take it all
the way back to that, you know, first year at
Conzack and just see how far you've come, Like you've
cemented a legacy there that's you know, probably gonna be well,
who knows, you know, Kenzaka has a lot of people,
a lot of good players run through that program. So
over the course of the next twenty years, you never
(16:15):
know if there could be someone that comes along and
as better than you. But I mean, you've sure as
hell cemented a stone there that is going to be
hard to What did Saint Mary Stay step over? They
set the stone so we could step over on that
it's kind of hard to step over a stone you
barely reach. But we can talk about that another day.
That's so funny too, Like they really had a chance
(16:38):
to come in there and you know, take the cake,
but just pressure was too much, huh. Anyway, not to
bounce all over the place. I wanted to. I wanted
you to obviously, yeah to your media outlet, have the
chance to just elaborate on this decision. It's funny too,
because I was getting asked, like when I was in Spokane,
like especially on Saturday, Like I had multiple people that
(17:00):
introduced themself to me, said they knew, you know me
from the podcast, and like asked how I was going,
ask like so what's Drew doing next year? And I
was kind of just playing it cool, like not really.
I didn't give a concrete answer, like because I knew,
but I wasn't gonna say yeah. So I was like, oh,
I mean I don't know, man, Like fifth year of
college is hard, like who knows, Like I doubt it,
(17:20):
Like I'll just giving my opinion but not letting them
know that I actually knew, because it's not my business
to like, you know, put out there. But I thought
it was funny because I'm like, then this motherfucker goes
ahead and just says it like sixteen hours later. It
was because like two because Senior Night, Like I wanted
Senior Night for me to be like like special, and
I didn't want it to be this thing where it's
like what is Drew gonna do? Like is he gonna leave?
(17:42):
Is he gonna come back? And then it not be
like a special and just kind of have that thing
on my chest and I'm I'm a pretty transparent dude,
and you know, I don't want to like like drag
things out when they don't need to be, Like I
just want I want like Senior Night to be like
just what it should be, like a final home game,
like one last one, last game, and like I wanted
to everybody to kind of understand that as well, like
(18:03):
for me, like i feel like it's my last time
really playing in the kennel and I wanted it to
be special and not something like oh what are you
doing like this or that. I wanted it to really
be like a proper like send off in the kennel
because I feel like the relationship I've had with spoke cannons,
you like it should be like this is it, you know,
and it should be something that's known and that's something
that's kind of a game, because that's kind of some bullshit.
(18:25):
Yeah nah, that's a that's a great point. That's good
awareness by you, because yeah, I mean, you deserve that moment.
And this it is your fourth year, you know what
I mean, Like it's not it's just this untraditional, like
weird thing because you got this extra year from the
COVID year. But like you're not a candidate for someone
that really needs that fifth year, Like you're not in
this weird position where you have to go to another
(18:48):
school and do your fifth year because it's like, you know,
you want to just test the waters and like branch out.
Like no, your next branching out is you just go
to the NBA. That's what a player like you is
meant to do. And man, it's been awesome, especially this year,
getting to follow along with the journey and just see,
like I said, what you've built there. And I know
you already know this, but I'm excited for that next chapter.
(19:10):
I know you are. I know a lot of people
that are fan. Everybody that's a fan of you is
excited to see how it pans out, because there's so
many big things in store. So we'll leave it there, Drew,
unless you got anything else you want to add on
that before we take a quick break. No, man, it's
about to get emotional in this bit here. We say
this to all our guests. Bro, we get vulnerable on
the Gimme Timmy Podcast. You can rely on us for
(19:31):
great authenticity and vulnerability. Drew, appreciate you laying it out
there for listeners. Um, all right, let's take a quick
break here. We got a fun game coming up to
kind of recap some of Drew's best memories and just
dopest moments coming up right when we come back. All right,
and we're back here on episode seventeen of the Gimmy
(19:51):
Timmy Podcast. Please make sure you are subscribed to the pod. Drew.
I think a fun way for us to wrap up
the show this week is, you know, in honor of
you and kind of what we just talked about during
the last segment, uh is, let's let's do like a
little word association game. I'm gonna give you a word
or a phrase and then you're gonna come back with
(20:12):
a one to I don't know, two, three, sentence answer
that comes to mind. Um, you know when I say
these words, are these phrases and so it's kind of
like some like Jeopardy or something. Yeah, you know, I
don't really know. Um, we're gonna kind of see how
it goes. It might be Jeopardy, and I have literally
no idea how it's gonna go. I'm I think it'll
be a fun game though, because you're you know, stupid
(20:34):
in a great way, and you're gonna entertain us. Sorry
that I'm sorry, I'm stupid in the same exact good way.
So that's I think that's why we got a good
mix here. Okay, first up the kennel the best I mean, shit, like,
what's better than the kennel? That's how I would describe that. Okay,
(20:55):
March madness, timmy time, time, let's go. Okay, how about
you're welcome to college basketball moment. Definitely pulling up to
practice in the summer and having to go against Killy,
Tilly and Philip, that was kind of a rude awakening
for me. I was like, oh shit, these dudes are
fucking elite. Yeah, that's cool. Okay, how about favorite game? Ever,
(21:20):
that's probably hard. I've had a lot of favorite games.
I really liked the Texas game. That game was pretty
personal for me and then but also the Memphis game.
That was such a fun second half and that's just
one of those crazy moments as a player where you
go on conscience and you don't even realize what you've
done until after. And that was that was cool. Especially
to get that arena in Portland just rocking. It was great. Yeah,
(21:44):
Mark Few the Goat, the absolute head Hunt show, the Boss,
the ultra head of the Union, I mean, just the Goat.
He's locally your friend too, which is cool. He is
the homie. What you'll miss most about the dorm life
probably just having all the bros just live around us.
(22:05):
I mean this week and me, you, Pablo, my dog Aiden,
and then Tom. We were running the FIFAIP where you
were a spectator. You were actually my anti cheerleader. You
were a hater. But uh, you know, I was undefeated
at my house this week. I held it down on
the home, my home turf. I went to I went no.
I went probably like eight no. Oh the games I
(22:27):
watched you or what like two and one or you
beat Ton twice? No, I won every game I'd beat
to On twice. I'd beat Aiden. You know, a couple
of times Pablo Pablo sucked though they were bad, but
Ye's good, I'd beat him twice. You know. That's what
I do here. Drew's a little like Drew's like low
key the biggest gamer nerd I've ever seen. He's like
looking at Ton at the end of the game, like, Bro,
(22:48):
how did you do the double spin flip kick? Bro?
What did you click? Bro? And Tom's like, I'm not
telling you, and You're like you always do this, man,
you never tell me your moves. It's like such a
sweat on the skill moves. I'm like, bro, like, bro,
So this is why I miss Smart the most, because
you know, you know, every now and then, Marty Nyle
you would have a little like student teacher session where
(23:10):
he would like teach me something. I'd come over and
he would he would teach me some skill moves. He'd
teach me how to do shit. Ton's like, yeah, I
just do this, this and that, and I'm like, well, thanks, jackass,
now I still know how to do it. I just
thought it was so funny because I remember, like when
I would play two K trying to like, you know,
figure out the controls, Like, all right, how do you
do these type of moves? And I'm just watching, just
(23:31):
knowing who you are, I'm just watching you, like really
be upset that ton like wouldn't show you how to
do his moves. I'm like, look at this fucking guy, like,
are you kidding me? Because I ain't gonna lie. He
hit me with some nasty shit, that little sombrero flick
in the box, and I'm glad he missed it because
I did not. I did not want to get clipped
because I know he was. He was he would have
posted that or something and taged me. So I was
(23:52):
sweat and put it in an Instagram carouse. All right,
next one worst practice ever, m definitely when coach gets
really mad and he comes in. He comes in on one,
especially after we lose and we we just get the
nice you know, uh film sash for the rough rough
twenty minutes and you kind of just have to spread
(24:13):
them and just take it spread. Okay, give us a
quick your quickest thirty second imitation of quote unquote coach
being on one go. I don't want to get in trouble.
I still got to go to practice and everything Okay,
we're gonna let that rip when the season ends. We're
absolutely gonna let that's fine. That's fine. You can definitely
(24:34):
no holds bars at that point. Okay. Next one, Uh,
the funniest teammate you've ever had, probably, uh, probably Tilly
or Marty. Those guys are to three. How about the
craziest teammate, Probably Marty. He he's a little psychotic. We
(24:57):
like that. Okay. Most competitive teammate MH probably Jalen J.
Dud's an asshole times um, all right. Last one with
the teammate's biggest shit talker. Mmm, probably Efton. He loves
he loves talking trash. He's he's like, it's a lot
(25:17):
of fun when he starts really get he really gets
into it and we start going back and forth. It's
it was a lot of fun this summer we were
playing pickup two especially. That's cool. Yeah, I got to
meet Efton. He's he's a great guy. He was he
was super nice, all right, Um, God being him Spokane
bro left a huge mark on me. Anyway. Um, toughest
one on one opponent you've ever played. I did say
(25:39):
it in high school. Uh, Cam Reddish has a problem
he's a problem problem. Okay. Uh, you actually kind of
already touched on this. Your most memorable in the zone
game that was probably the Memphis game. Definitely was the
Memphis game. I mean, the post fade, the threes, like
it was just was like, what can I throne? I
probably should have shot a couple half quarters and those
(26:00):
probably would have gone him. God, we love the druth
Timmy john Um. All right, what about the narrative that
then that the Zags have choked not winning a Natty?
You try and win one, that shit's hard as fun.
I mean, yeah, well go ahead, finished Just it's like
(26:22):
damn brea, Like we try, but I mean we've come
up short. We've we've had good runs. But like, you
try and win one, you you you come do it.
You come do what we do. You come do what
anybody in the in college does and see if you
can do it. Please. All Right? The Stash celebration fucking awesome.
That thing. When I first did that, I had no
(26:43):
idea that shit was gonna blow up. I was just
really doing it because it was COVID and there was
no one in there, and I was like I might
as well just kind of be a little bit of
a jackass and just kind of fun with it. Well,
make the game fun, because it really was glorified scrimmages
and for that thing to blow up and turn into
what it has, it's kind of turned into a kind
of its own character of mine, and it's, uh, it's
pretty freaking cool on any people just rallied behind it
(27:05):
and seeing little kids with the headband and stash around.
I can't believe what it's turned into. It's it's been crazy. Yeah,
is that the true origins of it, like during COVID
was when you first created it? Yeah, well, like the
thing with it, you know, Oh, I know all about it, man,
watching the game, going, who's this big white fuck with
this crazy? I first thought I ever had about you
(27:27):
when I watched you play. Um, I got a nice
one for you. Mom and dad in the stands. That's
the best part of the games. There's there's no there's
no two people I like to see in the crowd
more than them, especially when even when they're yelling at
me to play harder or rebound or you know, even
when my dad's in the like the best part by
(27:48):
my dad being the game. You know, we hit the
little a little bell because he's always like he's like
I'm He's like, you're in my dojo, and I'm like, yes, no,
He's like, you're in my dojo now, bitch. And that's
kind of like the mindset that like him and I
have when we play. It's pretty funny. I love that. Um. Okay,
let's run through a couple of teammates. Jalen Sugs. What
(28:09):
comes to mind ultra competitor, Fierce Sky and a Warrior
chat Holmegren a unicorn, truly a one of a kind individual.
Don't forget podcast Ducker. I got to talk to my
the PR squad. I was giving him. We saw him
(28:31):
in LA and I was giving him shit about that.
Come on, man, he's got to happen at some point,
all right, Andrew Nemhard PG One, No question, Corey Kisspert,
mister Zag can't think of a better Zag than him.
If you ever answer our insane snapchat the other night,
oh he did? Was the response, I do too. Yeah,
(28:52):
Saint Mary's great competition, fun games okay, BYU. I know
you got other nice for them, Uh, frick them. I'm
gonna keep it by you, friendly frick. How about this one?
The Gimme Timmy podcast played a big part in your
last season. It has a surprising, a great surprise, a
(29:15):
fun one. I did not think I was gonna like
it. It It was something I kind of just like, fuck it,
I'll try it and see what happens. And I've I've
really liked it. And I would like to say it's
not because of you, man, but shout out to you man.
You've made this a lot of fun, pretty easy. It's
it's been it's been quite a time. And to see
how many people actually listened to it, Like I think
when you came was the first time I realized how
many people like listen to our podcast. And that was
(29:37):
so cool to kind of see like everyone coming up
to you like, oh shit, no us here, like we
love I love the pod. And I just like I
was kind of just seeing it from Afar and I
was like, shit, man, like people really liked this podcast.
So that was that was super cool to see. Yeah,
that was dope. We were rocking those Gimme Timmy hoodies.
We were rocking the Gimme Timmy hoodies. Them shirts are fired.
I didn't have any I didn't plan for us to
(29:58):
both be wearing them. In the bar. I just always
had a plan that. I was like, I'm wearing this
hoodie all day Saturday, like, gave me Timmy zo. Shit was,
I got it bigger, so it was like super comfy.
I was like, I got a rocky. You said you
did that two XL. I hooked two XL tall. I
had to get it. Yeah, I thought it was going
to be too big on you. Well, I like, I like,
especially like hoodies and long seas that are extra big,
(30:19):
you know, because I'd be chilling in the apartment a lot.
Because you've actually experienced my room. The ice box keep
it at like fifty nine fifty seven, very cold. So like,
I like some baggy clothes that are just like, you know,
kind of chill with some pj's. You better believe we
got some Gimmy Timmy hoodies on the way. We got
a little Me and Drew collaborated quickly on a nice
(30:40):
little design piece that we want to add to the hoodie.
Great great nugget by you. Not gonna give it away,
but great nugget by you all. Thank you, thank you.
I thought it was just really appropriate, good contribution by you.
I can't do all the thinking around here. You prick. Well, god,
we would be we would not have a podcast now
if that was the case. All Right, only got a
couple more announcing we just did this. But your thoughts
(31:02):
on announcing that you won't be back next year, like
making it public, it's a relief. I just wanted to
enjoy my senior night and the way it should be,
and just I felt like I owed it's everyone, just
to kind of just say it as soon as I
felt like I was really ready to take that, to
take the next challenge, all right, this one might be
a little sad. Putting on the zags UNI for the
(31:22):
last time. Damn, man, you're gonna make me tear up.
Oh yeah, you made a lot of people tear up
during the last segment. Just uh man, Like I can't
even describe that feeling. Just all the memories, all the
ups and downs, the good, the bad, the grind, the shine,
Like fuck, I'm gonna say fuck, okay, okay. Spokane in
(31:47):
general didn't think I was gonna like it as much
as I did. I was. I was kind of a
hater a little bit at first. I was like, nine,
ain't no Dallas or nothing, but the people, the summers,
even the snow, like it's just a great like it's
a great city. It's slept on and it's not for
everyone one, but like if you really get integrated in
the city, like it's a great place to be. Because
(32:08):
this was the theme of the weekend, how about your
your moment finally getting a ninety four feet with the
man Ja billis well, I'm glad that all my insistent
whining and crime incessant, but go ahead, incessant. We're working
on Drew's vocab. Guys, We're gonna get there. I have
great diction, but it doesn't always just like talk too fast.
(32:32):
I'm working on it. Go ahead. What did you think
of of the ninety four feet though? No, I was dope.
I was. I was super excited to finally get one,
and literally it came at probably the last opportunity to
get one. Yeah, so like it was. It's awesome that
I was able to get one, and uh, thank god
Jay did it, because I thought after the whole ranch
On Pizza debacle that I was officially blacklisted from ninety
(32:55):
four feet. But I'm glad that he overlooked that. Yeah,
he was not going I thought I wasn't going forward,
but like the times that I've listened back to those clips,
like he couldn't believe you that you did. He couldn't
believe you. He was what was the word of you is?
He was like that was what do you say? Aberant? No,
I'm I'm the wrong guy, ask my memory? All right,
(33:17):
Well that was fun. I enjoyed doing that. That's our
fun little tribute to Drew, Timmy and Gonzaga basketball and
just his memories within the program and these last four years. Man, Drew,
what do you got for us? Man? That was a fun,
great episode. Maybe a little bit on the emotional side
for us, but it was great, my man. No one
got to come up to spoke. Can can't. Can't say
that wasn't fun because I was of time. He's he's
(33:38):
a little demon. I didn't know that but Italian and yeah,
yeah man. But thank you guys for as always tuning in, subscribing,
interacting with the pod. Thanks for all the memories and
many more to come, and we'll see you guys next
week for episode eighteen. Yes, sir, this has been a
(34:00):
presentation of the College Athletes Network
