Speaker 1 (00:00):
Can't.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
I am six forty.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
You're listening to the John Cobel podcast on the iHeartRadio app.
We are on from one to four and after four o'clock.
You missed something, go to the iHeartRadio app John Cobelt
Show on demand. I would urge you definitely to listen
to a one o'clock hour. Part of it was with
Nick Gerda, who's the watchdog correspondent at the public radio

(00:23):
station Last who broke the story about Alicia Adams Kellum.
She retaliated against two whistleblowers paid eight hundred thousand dollars.
They had said that Adams Kellem was doing all kinds
of bad things. For one thing, they were covering up

(00:44):
the real numbers for Karen Bass's inside safe because they
didn't want Karen Bass to look bad. She also had
hired unqualified friends and former co workers and paid them
a lot of money. And then she was engaging in
inappropriate and unethical behavior. She was insisting that at the
holiday party, taxpayers pay for all the booze. It's a

(01:05):
long list of stuff. Las dot com Nick Gert listened
to listen to that interview with him, and we went
through his story. Really for most of the Hour. Uh,
that's on the First Hour podcast. Let's go now to
man We've had on many times. He's just the premier
journalist chronicler of what's gone on at the border for

(01:26):
all these years and immigration policies with the Center for
Immigration Studies, Todd Bensman. This story is amazing. There was
a man in Chicago who shot and wounded.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Well this he was an.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Illegal alien from an Islamic country and he shot and
wounded an Orthodox Jewish man in Chicago, and the FBI
for months and months was not interested in investigating this guy,
but recently they were. Let's talk to Let's talk to
Todd Bensman. How are you, Todd, I'm doing great.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah. Thanks. Yeah. This is the first known terror attack
jihadis full blown alawa akbar screaming terror attack in the
United States that drew blood by a border crossing Muslim
immigrant crossed over the border illegally in March of twenty

(02:22):
twenty three and made his way up to Chicago, got
mad about the Gaza war with Israel, decided he was
going to slaughter a bunch of Jewish people in their
synagogue up in an Orthodox neighborhood of Chicago, and on
the way there, took a shot at one of them

(02:42):
and wounded him in the back. Thank god, the victim
survived that. But then came the police, Chicago police, and
a massive gun battle all over this Jewish neighborhood until
they finally wounded him and he was brought in and
not investigated by the FBI. The FBI decided this is

(03:05):
on October twenty six, just seven months ago. What was
happening on October twenty six were just days away from
the presidential election. Oh right, so you have the FBI
taking over this case. That's telling the world that a
terrorist just attacked.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Just shot an Orthodox Jewish man in.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Public, right ahead of the election. Where you know, mass
migration was the national security issue of the moment, and
here it was. They had it. So they they let
the Chicago police handle the thing like as an ordinary shooting.
And then finally, after pressure from the Jewish community, the

(03:46):
state of Illinois charged him with terrorism under the never
before used state level terrorism statute that they had after
nine to eleven, and then that was it. The guy
hung himself. He hanged himself in jail not long after,
so he didn't get a trial. Yes, abd Lahia. That's

(04:12):
the guy from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Lots of
Mauritanians came in about eighteen, twenty thousand of them.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
And where's Mauritanian.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
It's in West Africa in the Sihled Desert region. Is
a very dangerous neighborhood. Lots of Al Qaida and isis
running around up there, lots of terror attacks up there,
and we've had twenty thousand Mauritanians come over our border,
really Senegalisia, and one of them finally popped off the

(04:44):
terror attack charged as a terror attack. Well, my story
in the New York Post last night broke last night
is just to say that when I put in a
foyer request with the FBI for any information that they
might have on that forgotten tar attack, first ever of
its kind, they replied, well, we're not going to give

(05:07):
you any information because we have an active investigation still,
even though the guy's dead.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
He hanged himself.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
He said, he hanged himself. What are you investigating? I mean,
you know they of course they're not saying. But what
that tells us is that either Biden FBI decided not
to investigate, and the Trump, FBI decided to investigate, or
they just found something that they can't let go of

(05:36):
just for ethics, or you know, their cops ultimately you
can't just let go of it. I don't know what
it is. They have an active case. Maybe they're looking
they found I mean, most of these things don't happen
without po co conspirators. How did he get his gun?
Illegal immigrants are not allowed to have firearms? How did
he get one? Who gave it to him? Who steal it?

(05:58):
Do he buy it? Did somebody sell it to Was
he directed? Now? His phone was filled with Hamas propaganda,
Jihadis propaganda, anti Jewish Aza war, anti Israel propaganda.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Do we know where he crossed the border and was
he detained in any way? Did he did he get
cleared for temporary approval, applied for asylum, any of that?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
I have most of those records. Now. He crossed on
March thirtieth, twenty twenty three, in the Tijuana area and
toward San Diego between ports of entry. He turned himself
in along with you know, hundreds of thousands of other
people that were crossing that month. It's a very very

(06:44):
busy month, very busy year in that sector, and what
the Biden administration was doing at that point was stamping
everybody right in. They'd take their names, run them through
a US database to see if there was any There
was not on him, and then they cut him loose

(07:04):
and he went to Chicago. So that's all we really know.
They gave him a date to check in with ICE
in the Chicago area, or actually Indiana first and in Chicago,
but there's no information at all that he actually did
check in or what his status was.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
So we don't know if he was connected to terrorists,
if the reason he came all the way from Wuritania
all away from West Africa are was to cause a
terrorist attack, or then he got radicalized after he was here.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
No, and that's the problem with all of this. There's
no media interest, no media coverage of this. This first
ever border crosser terror attack.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Isn't that that is shocking, the first ever illegal alien
terror attack.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
And I'd never heard of this story.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
No, I listen, when he hanged himself, I knew there
was not going to be a public trial and that
the country would be robbed of answering the questions that
you just raised, that are just normal questions. Who directed him,
did he have co conspirators? So I went there to Chicago,

(08:18):
and I'm not even a journalist. I worked for a
think tank, a public policy institute, and I just started
knocking doors. The media never did its job, so I
decided I'll do what they should have done, and I
spent a week on the ground there and had no
problem finding the Jewish victim and interviewed him for the
very first time, and his wife, their rabbi, all of

(08:41):
the neighbors in that neighborhood who lived through this horrendous
gun battle in their neighborhood, knocked on his door, interviewed
his roommates, the whole thing. I did a three part
series on this thing, which you can find that under
my name at CIS dot org or Todd Bensmon dot com.

(09:04):
It's there at the bottom of the page. You'll find
the whole series. This is just the latest installment of
my coverage of this but I'm like it, man.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Wow, this is a tremendous story, and for you to
be the only writer in the entire nation to be
covering it is just gives you the depth of the
partisanship and bias on the part of what used to
be the media and just been a terrible story for
Biden a week and a half before the election.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
And so they buried it. And the FBI buried it too.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
God, the FBI buried it too. But listen, you know
it's it's it doesn't have to be this way. You know,
even Trump and his people are talking about, you know,
there there's a two you know, we have a terrorist
threat here. There could be a terror attack. They don't
even realize that there already was one. Even the Republicans

(10:01):
don't realize it. And get this. Illinois Governor Pritzker has
been subpoena to testify before the House Homeland Security Committee
Oversight subcommittee on June twelve about to defend his sanctuary
city policy. And I don't think any of those panelists,

(10:23):
those members on the panel have any clue to ask
him about this. How what about the terror attack in Chicago?

Speaker 2 (10:30):
This sky was protecting sanctuary city policy?

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Yeah? How many more are you protecting like him?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
All Right, and I gotta go, Todd, Thank you very much,
Thank you, great report, Todd, Bensman Center for Immigration Studies.
When we come back, there's a big Soviet spacecraft that
could fall on your head.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
You're listening to John Cobelt on demand from KFI AM
six forty.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
All right, you you should look up in the sky
at all times for the rest of the week. Why well,
I don't think you could take a huge Soviet spacecraft
falling on your head.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
I don't think many of us could, John, That's what
I'm telling you.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Keep looking up. You don't know when it's coming.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
This is a spacecraft that the Soviet unions sent up
in nineteen seventy two. It was called Cosmos for eighty two.
It was supposed to land on Venus fifty years ago,
and it never made it out of orbit. It got
caught in a weird orbit. It's a half a ton,

(11:42):
it's one thousand pounds metal aw and it was built
with a heat shield so it could survive coming through
the atmosphere. It may not burn up entirely. Could come
in at one hundred and fifty miles an hour. So
you've got a thousand pounds falling on your head.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
At a hunt.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
I guess you'll be using AI of me very you.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Have a little little flat debby there on the sidewalk.
It can fall in a wide area, including the US
South America, Africa, Australia, most of Europe and Asia. They
don't know where it's gonna en.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Okay, so not here then.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
No, No, United States.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Oh I missed the state in the United States. They
had a series of Venus missions. This one didn't work out,
a rocket malfunction. It got stuck in the Earth, stuck
in the Earth's orbit. Most of it came down within
a decade, but the landing capsule itself has been circling
the world for fifty three years, just very slowly dropping

(12:45):
in altitude, and everybody forgot about it. You know, there's
thousands and thousands of things orbiting the Earth, and there's
actually a master list. They've tried to identify all these thousands,
and they think the most likely time is twelve forty

(13:08):
two am Eastern Time on May tenth. That would be
in three days. Oh wow, Thursday, Friday, that's what I'm saying,
Saturday now. Another satellite tracker says four thirty seven am
on May tenth, plus or minus a day. That'll be
quite the birthday present for me. Where's your birthday Saturday,
May tenth, Well, it could fall.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
On your head.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I'm not looking forward to that. There's a there's a
happy birthday. It should survive re entry as long as
the heat shields intact. And but one of the researcher says,
imagine putting your car into a wall one hundred and
fifty miles an hour and see how much of.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
It is left after that.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
Not much.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
It'll look like a bright streak across the sky, and
that would be cool. Yeah, there's twenty five thousand objects
orbiting orbiting the Earth.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
I can't worry about that. I just can't.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
That's what I thought.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Maybe I could trigger the same response that hurricanes and
the tsunamis and earthquakes.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Yeah, I'm filled up.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Really Yeah, well this would really hurt.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
I mean it would, but I think the likelihood of
that falling on my head.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I don't know, not to a lot of unusual things
happen around you. That is a space craft. I mean,
I wouldn't stay. I don't think anybody should stand next
to Deborah.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
But it's Mother's Day on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
On Sunday, I may not be here for Mother's Day.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Your your family should stay away when we come back.
You may have heard our national airport system is in collapse.
It's it's like one of these old Soviet rockets. It's
completely falling apart. And I couldn't believe this, but this
came from the Transportation Secretary. Do you know the airports

(14:56):
are still using floppy disks? Does anybody remember floppy dish?
That's well, we'll explain all this coming up.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
You're listening to John Cobel's on demand from KFI AM
six forty.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Well, I gave it a good try to try to
stir up your phobias because of this Russian satellite. Not satellite,
it's a Russian space ship that was supposed to go
to Venus fifty years ago, got stuck in the Earth's
orbit since nineteen seventy two, and it's falling to Earth
this weekend, probably Saturday. It's one thousand pounds half a ton,

(15:31):
and it's gonna come straight down at one hundred and
fifty miles an hour in.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
The San Fernando Valley.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Yeah, Woodland Hills, that's where it's targeted. Sure, well exactly,
you're in there.

Speaker 6 (15:40):
I mean, look, if it happens, then you win.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Okay, Well, there you go. That's it for you. That's
the sound you would think it is a little splat. Well,
I'm gonna try with this one. Apparently our our airport
system has been neglected for decades.

Speaker 5 (16:04):
Yeah, that freaks me out more.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Yeah, all right, if I keep trying, I knew i'd
find something. And you may have heard that in Newark
has become a disaster site because twenty percent of the
air traffic controllers walked off the job and are claiming
trauma leave, trauma leave.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
And you know why why.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
It's because a copper wire burned out and that left
the air traffic controllers without any radar and without any radio.
On Tuesday, Fox News broadcast this audio between air traffic controllers.

(16:47):
Now Newark, as you know, it's right next to New
York City. It's on the other side of the Hudson River.
Huge airport. It's the closest airport to my house, I
don't know, fifteen miles from my house. So I've flown
out of there just dozens and dozens of times, and
it's always been a mess. And for some reason, the
air traffic controllers that oversee Newark are based in Philadelphia,

(17:11):
which is about ninety miles away.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
I'm not kidding.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
That makes zero sense.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Some years ago they put the Newark air Traffic Control
in Philadelphia. Somewhere along the line a copper wire shorted
out and all the screens went blank. So here's what happened.
United Airlines Flight. United has a huge hub there. United
Airlines flight is coming in and the pilot says, approach,

(17:40):
are you there? Five times? Five times they tried to
contact air traffic control over the course of thirty seconds,
and finally the controller said, we don't have radar, so
I don't know where you are. The connectivity between the
FAA radar and the frequencies that the air traffic controllers

(18:03):
use completely failed. Faulty copper wire. The air traffic controllers
were so freaked out twenty percent of the staff walked out,
claiming trauma. You're allowed to go home for weeks now.
I would hope the air traffic controllers would be a
little tougher than that.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
I would hope so too.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Or is this one of these loopholes that lazy union
people take advantage of.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
I'm sure though, that is a pressure cooker job.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Oh it's terrible.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
I wouldn't want to do that.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
No, they're way understaff, they're way overworked.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
So anyway, twenty percent of the FAA workers walked off,
which only makes things worse. So this is landed in
the lap of Trump's Treasury Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. He
replaced the idiot Pete budajetg and he said, we have
really old infrastructure in America, not only copper wires, but
get this, I mean the computers are from the nineteen

(18:59):
nineties and they use floppy discs. Floppy discs were these
things you slid into a slot on the side of
a computer, one of the old fashioned like box desk computers,
and that would have the information that you'd read on
the screen. Duffy said, this should have been dealt with

(19:21):
with the last administration. They did nothing. Well, Trump people
ran the place, the administration before that. Nobody's done anything
about this.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Which I don't understand.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
But that makes why I don't know why this is
like everything everything in the world is a big why.

Speaker 5 (19:41):
This is very very important obviously, now.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
You remember the crash in January, the plane and the
black Hawk helicopters from the Pentagon.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Yeah, DC, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Wall Street Journal says tensions have remained high at Reagan
National's control tower in March. A controller running the tower
punched another controller.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
While on the job.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Yeah, this is what they were.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Instead of watching the planes land.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
You ever look at an air traffic control tower. Yes, yeah,
two guys at a fistfight because the second guy would
not monitor helicopter traffic. And you know the plane hit
a helicopter two months before, So I guess that's on.
That's top of mind. They have ten thousand plus controllers.

(20:33):
They're three thousand short. According to the Wall Street Journal,
controllers have complained of fatigue from having to work ten
hour days, six days a week. They're offering all kinds
of bonuses to get new candidates, but it takes years
to be certified or to try to get imminent retirees

(20:54):
to stay on longer. And Duffy says, we have to
build a brand new air traffic control system. Now Congress
had mandated an upgrade in twenty twelve, it's not going
to be finished till twenty thirty.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
Well, that's not acceptable.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
So they've all the administrations, both parties and Congress neglected
the air traffic control system since the nineteen nineties.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
They got floppy discs.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Wow, this really makes me want to fly soon.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Don't change planes in Newark In fact, one air traffic
controller told an NBC correspond to Tom Costello, it is
not a safe situation for the flying public. Don't fly
into Newark. Avoid Newark at all costs. This is one
of the traffic controllers.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
You know.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
The thing is, we're capable of having a first class,
world renowned transportation system like the high speed rail. Right,
lots of countries have high speed rail.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
And we have nothing. And lots of countries have modern
air traffic control. We have nothing. I don't know what's wrong.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
That is going to keep me up at night, the
floppy disks and the fist fighting and.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
The throwing floppy disks at each other.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
Right, wondering what's going on in the hware.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Our technicological advances have been social media. It's not been
building high speed trains or landing planes. It's been likes
and Instagram scrolls. You imagined all the brain power. I mean,
then we can these engineers like it at Facebook make
four hundred thousand dollars a year.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
Okay, let's have a conversation with Elon.

Speaker 6 (22:55):
Why isn't he he'd be a good one toy.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
They may use Elon's STARLINGK system as some kind of
I don't know if they can do that immediately or
as a temporary fix. I don't know, all right, So
I got you with that one.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yeah, I don't like that, all right.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
One for two, But I keep looking up in the sky.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Saturday, you're listening to John Cobels on demand from KFI.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
A six after four o'clock. You could podcasting a post it.
You could listen to what we've done for the last
three hours, first hour in particular, because we talked to
a reporter from las to the public radio station. They
have a website too, and it's all about the disgraced
head of LASA Los Angeles Housing Services Authority, and there.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Were two whistle blowers.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
They were telling lots of stories about what was going on,
and LASSA tried to shut them up with eight hundred
thousand dollars in payments. But now the complaint list has
been publicized. What was going on going on with the
head of Alicia Adams Kellum. You listen, you'll see it's

(24:08):
quite shocking. We told you earlier with Todd Bensman came
on about the report about the story that was ignored,
covered up by both the media and by the FBI.
A few days before the election in November, there was
an illegal alien Islamic radical in Chicago. He'd come all

(24:32):
the way from Mauritania and he was a terrorist and
he shot and wounded an Orthodox Shoes. Obvious, this man
was an Orthodox Shoe and they had to charge him locally. Well,
they had to charge him with state charges because the

(24:53):
Feds didn't want to get involved. They didn't want the
bad publicity for Biden, and the news media didn't cover it.
They don't want they didn't want the bad publicity for
Biden because here you have an illegal alien terrorist shooting
a Jewish man. Well, here's some more, the famous MS
thirteen legal alien who was sent to the l Salvador
prison where you had Democratic crats flying al Savador. They

(25:17):
got him out kilmore Abrego Garcia. According to a report,
he was worked as a taxi service for a convicted
human smuggler to transport illegal aliens from Texas to locations
around the US. A man named Jose Ramon Hernandez Res,

(25:37):
who's been convicted for smuggling illegal migrants, told federal investigators
he operated a smuggling service based in Baltimore and hired
a Brago Garcia on multiple occasions. Remember a Brego Garcia
was the man from Maryland, and they are now questioning
Hernandez Res about a Brego Garcia, and he's the one

(25:59):
sitting in al southa door prison. And the Democrats bent
themselves into pretzels trying to plead that this good man,
this family man, should not be exiled. That Trump broke laws,
broke norms. Well, it turns out, yeah, he was providing

(26:19):
a taxi service. He was the driver to smuggle the illegal
aliens into this country. There'll be more on that story
coming up as well. And speaking of illegal aliens who
were loose here, another terrorist named Luis da Silva was
here in the United States. He was deported and he
is now the suspected terrorist behind that plot to attack

(26:41):
Lady Gaga's concert in Brazil. In the past week, two
and a half million people showed up. Luis da Silva
tried to plan a live stream. He was going to
live stream the attack and detonate explosives near the stage
two and a half million people watching the free show
by Lady Gaga on the Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeira.

(27:02):
He thought that Lady Gaga was a Satanist and he
was going to perform a Satanist ritual himself, killing a
child during the show. That guy was running it around
in America. Abrego Garcia was running around in America, and
the guy who shot the Orthodox Jew in New York
was running around in America. Terrorist That's what Biden led

(27:28):
in the country. And I'm sure there's thousands more, all right. Conways, next,
Deborah Mark is gone home and we have Michael Krozer
live in the CAFI twenty four hour newsroom. Hey, you've
been listening to The John Covelt Show podcast. You can
always hear the show live on KFI Am six forty
from one to four pm every Monday through Friday, and
of course, anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
