Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time to catch a cheater.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Only on the Juble Show, Allie is on the phone
today for to catch cheater and she thinks that her
boyfriend of four years named Jane might be messing around.
So we'll see if we can catch him if he is.
In just a second. But first, Alie, what's up? Why
do you think Jay might be cheating?

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Well, I have seen some odd behaviors from him that
have sort of got me a little concerned. I guess
it really stemmed from I'm worried if he's being honest
with me. The way that we pay rent is that
every two weeks he just kind of cash ups me

(00:39):
his half of the rent and then I pay it.
But sometimes he'll forget. You know, He's not the one
who's best with schedules.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Like I am.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
I'm I'm like, I work for an agency. I am
very type A, so I'm kind of the person who
has to have everything on schedule. I have everything timed out,
I have a list and everything like that. And Jay,
I love him, but that is not the type of
person that he is. So every once in a while
he'll forget to pay me and a couple weeks ago,

(01:09):
maybe like a month ago, he forgo us to pay me,
and I was like, hey, maybe you need to send
me your half of the rent. And he was like, oh, yeah,
I have no problem. And he pulled out his phone
to check his bank account to make sure that there's
enough money in there. And I happened to like look
over and he had like over eight thousand dollars in
his account. He makes enough money to pay his half

(01:32):
of the rent. Like he's not broke or anything like that.
But I'm the one who, you know, I have the
real job. I have, like the adult job, you know,
I have the one.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
That's picking up all of my time.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
And I don't have eight thousand dollars in my account,
So how is his job, you know, providing that kind
of money? So I kind of I feel bad. I
kind of flipped out on him, saying, you know, like
where did this money come from? There's no way that
you make this at work. And he, you know, the
only thing he had to say to me was that
he was saving. But I don't understand how he could

(02:06):
have that kind of savings when he makes less than me.
He's not the most frugal person, Like, I don't know.
That was the first thing that sort of made me
a little concerned.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
But so, how did that tie to him cheating on you?

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Do you think that he's like an escort or something
and he's making extra cash?

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Oh my god, I did not think that. They No,
but he does get weird work calls too. That's the
other part of this is that I feel like work

(02:45):
is calling him.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
At all hours.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
And you know, we'll be hanging out in the very
precious few hours that I have that I'm not at work,
and he'll get a phone call and he says that
he has to take it. It says it's work. He'll
go into a different room to take it, and I
don't know. There's something about the way that he speaks
on the phone. From what I can hear, it's like

(03:08):
he's talking to.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
A child or something like.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Don't you don't know when people talk to different people
on the phone, you can kind.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Of tell by their tone.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, Like if like you're talking on the phone and
they're like, oh, that was your mom. The tone that
he has when he talks on his phone to these
supposed work calls doesn't seem like a work tone.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Well, I'm just trying to figure out, like who he's
spending time with him.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Well because of that particular tone, Like I said, that's
not a friend tone like that. That's the thing that
makes me think that he's cheating is that he's talking
to somebody on the phone in a in a voice
that is, you know, like not the kind that you
talk to just a work.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Yeah, I get it, like that baby kind of a voice,
but not like a child.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yeah yeah, but like he wouldn't you know. I never
hear him say baby or anything. But it's just I
can't think of a reason and why he would be
talking like that to someone on the phone who is
supposedly his work, you know. And I asked him about it.
I'm like, why are you getting all these work phone calls?
And he says, oh, well there's a new hire and
they really need a lot of direction. Y're always asking
questions and that just yeah, that really isn't these things

(04:17):
aren't all adding up to me.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Okay, we'll figure it out for you. Then you already
told us what grocery store he's a rewards card member at.
So we'll call and pretend to be from the grocery
store and say that every single month, we choose one
lucky rewards member who gets a free gift from us
and his flowers delivered from our floral department, and we'll
see if he sends those to you or to somebody else.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
All right, okay, I hope we'll.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Get your to catch theeter next right in the middle,
to catch a scheeter if you're just joining us. Ali
is on the phone and she thinks that her boyfriend
of four years named Jay might be cheating. So we're
about to call him and pretend to be from the
grocery store that he's a rewards card member at and
say that he's this month's lucky winner of free flowers
deliver from our floral department, and we'll see if he
sends those to his girlfriend, Ali or to somebody else.

(04:58):
But before we do that, Ali, wanytn't you down your
situation for.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Us again real quick?

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
So, I think that there's some behavior that my boyfriend
has that is concerning. He has an amount of money
in his savor's account that I feel was a little suspicious,
and he's taking a lot of phone calls and doing
a lot of work after hours that I don't know.
I really can't think of the reason why he'd be doing.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
This well, and you did hear him talking to somebody
That made it sound like it was kind of an
intimate conversation.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Yeah, all right, are you ready for us to call on?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yep? Yes, do it.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Here we go, Hi, this is Corporal calling from I
was looking for our rewards card. Remember name Ja, Hi Jay,
Please don't hang up. This is not a marketing phone call.
I'm actually calling with the big congratulations here this month's winter.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
All right? Cool? What did I win?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Something was I'm not sure if you're aware, but every
single month we choose one Rewards Card member who gets
a free year from us, and this month is flowers
delivered from our floora department. You've just won thirty six
long stin red roses, a box of candy or chocolate,
and a card to be delivered to anybody that you
want within the fifty United States, absolutely free.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
You know I always have luck like this. That's really funny. Yeah,
that's cool, awesome, that's what I need to do.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Well here, It's very simple how it works. The first
thing I would need to be the first and the
last name of the person you want to send them to.
And then if you want to put anything on a.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Card and then we'll get the address.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Okay, can I do Can we give it to Crystal?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yes, we could do that. And anything that you would
like to put on a card to Crystal.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, on the cart to we write like something just
to brighten your day, beautiful. I'll be over later.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Got it?

Speaker 2 (06:54):
And now, Jay, I will let you know that this
is actually the Jubile Show. It's a radio show.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Sure is Hi? I'mnina, I am Victorian and my name
is Jubal. How are you?

Speaker 1 (07:03):
What is this?

Speaker 4 (07:04):
It's a radio show.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
It's called The Jubile Show, and we do a segment
that's called to Catch a Teeter where if you think
your significant other might be messing around you see they
send flowers to and your girlfriend. Ali is on the
phone listening. Got him, probably wants to know who Crystal is.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
To catch it? I'm sorry, Hi, Well.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
I'm confused too. I'm confused as to who Crystal is.
I mean, I really thought things for going really.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Well, Ellie, what I'm not cheating? You think I'm cheating?
Not cheating? Please tell me what it could possibly be. Ellie,
this is a big misunderstanding. I'm sorry. This is I
promise you. I'm not cheating truth.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Oh no, please tell me how how this is funny?

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Crystal is just a friend of mine who I met
from work. It's not I know, I know it sounds bad.
I promise you it's not what it sounds like.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
See you later, beautiful. Yeah no, it's not something that
I would send to my coworkers.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Yeah no, Crystal, she's not a coworker. She's a woman
that came into work and I've been helping her outside
of work. I promise you, I'm not cheating.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Why are you calling her beautiful?

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Though?

Speaker 4 (08:21):
I don't think that that's something that you just casually
throw around.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
All right, Okay, I haven't been completely honest or truthful,
but but if you must know, Crystal is a woman
who came in. So I work at and I help
a lot of people that come in and need help
with their technology and their photos and everything. And this woman,
Crystal came in, who is eighty five years old and

(08:49):
asked me to help her digitize some photos that she
had from her family and her husband who had passed and.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
An eighty five year old So you're into Graham, No, no, no,
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
There's nothing romantic happening. I promise you. She came in.
I was helping her with her photos, and she I
was very helpful, and she was very sweet, and she
asked if I would be able to come over and
do some odd jobs and some more like tech stuff
because she lives alone. Her husband passed, and so I've

(09:23):
been going over there on my free time and doing
odd jobs for making a little bit extra cash on
the side. I promise you, I'm not interested in her.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
So I don't I don't understand is she paying you
to Is this like a sugar mama coming and saying like,
I don't understand. What what are you doing at this
woman's house? Why is she paying you, like just to
help out? It doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
I mean, yeah, I guess, I guess kind of that's
what it is. I mean, I mean, she is paying
me a lot, and she did ask me to take
my shirt off the other day. I promise it's not
it's not weird. I'm not I'm not interested.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
And it's just she's really she's sweet, she's older, she
just needs some she lost her husband, she doesn't have
any friends at the nursing home, and and she's got
a lot of money, and she's got no kids, she's
got no one to leave it to. So she's insisting
that she she helps out. And I tell her about you,
I tell her about us.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Okay, so she asked you to take your shirt off.
What happens when she asks you to do more things?
What is the What is the limit to this situation
you have here?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
There is a fine limit. I told her about you
so many times. It's just I did it to give her,
get a little rise out of her. She's lonely, she's
she's not much as not much is going to be happening,
I promise.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Okay, Well, I'm I'm glad that you're laughing about this,
but you've been lying to me about this. I mean,
how long has this been happening? How long have you
been going over there?

Speaker 1 (11:01):
And why wouldn't you just tell me you're right? I'm
sorry I haven't told you. I'm sorry I haven't been
more honest, but I promise you nothing bad's been happening.
It's just I'm trying to save some extra money right now,
and I'm kind of wanted to tell you. I didn't
want I didn't want you to be.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
Suspicious or or to worry or to or for something
like this to happen. I can even show you pictures
of her, like, I promise you nothing's going on. I'll
show you the photos she sent me, photos of herself.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
You can wait. Not like that, not like that.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Even take your shirt off.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
I'm taking you a bunch of money.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
I mean, this woman's pretty amazing.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
She's very sweet, she's just kind, and she has an
eighty something year old pervert. You do chores with your
shirt off. Why aren't you treating her like the predator
she is? All I promise you I will not let
it cross any lines or boundaries. Like, I really do
love you, I really want to be with you, and

(12:02):
i want to spend my life with you, So I'm
doing what I can to prepare for that.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Allie, do you want him to keep doing this?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
I don't even know what to think about this.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
My immediate answer is no, No, I don't want him
going around trading up and down.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
With his shirt off. That's not what Ellie. So she
gave me two thousand dollars the other day.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
She paid you two thousand dollars just to talk to her. Yes,
I mean like two thousand dollars to just make an
old lady happy. I mean, maybe maybe I could get
on board with this.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
All right, Well, we'll let you guys figure it out.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
But he.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Cheating?

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Yeah no, but we need to talk. We need to talk. Yes,
we can talk.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
I want to meet this Crystal.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
You can come over next time for sure.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
I'm keeping my shirt on though

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
