Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi. I'm Nick Bonacourt, founder of the Reform Sports Project.
I've been involved in athletics my entire life, from youth
baseball to a collegian national championship as a player, too
now as a youth sports parent and coach. Several years ago,
I began to realize that something was off in youth
sports today. I've seen what's evolved over the last twenty
five years, and while there's definitely a lot of positive
(00:24):
lessons and experience has taken place, there are also many
negative elements that are taken away from the youth sports experience.
Too often, commercial interests are driving youth sports, and the
resulting culture under values the physical and emotional development of
children and young adults. I started the Reform Sports Project
to restore a healthy balance and perspective in all areas
(00:45):
of sport through education and advocacy. As part of this project,
I've interviewed hundreds of championship winning professional athletes, storied college coaches,
leading journalists, and more, and created the Reform Sports Project
podcast to share their expertise and experiences. Our purpose is
to provide information to help parents and kids navigate today's
youth sports culture. Subscribe to the Reformed Sports Project podcast
(01:08):
and tune in each week to hear my conversation with
top figures in sports discussing their perspective on youth sports.
