Speaker 2 (01:42):
Ready to go? Boy Tex? The week text nation is
coming through, uh so Rick. So we we try our
best to schedule appointments outside the show, uh, when we can,
and sometimes it's just impossible. And so he had a
family conflict come up that he has to take care
(02:03):
of over the weekend and just couldn't get back. Everything's okay,
don't you worry.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
Uh, But you know it's tough too, and and I
wish we could all just have appointments outside the.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Window of when we're in here live. But sometime we
try our hardest. Good, We try our hardest, but sometimes
it's just impossible. And today's one of those days. So
watch out, everybody, Daddy's not home.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
Yeah, so you know we how about when the parents
used to leave go out of town?
Speaker 2 (02:32):
What are you talking?
Speaker 6 (02:33):
Man?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Nobody? I didn't have a party or anything.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Yeah, egg, yeah, just how dare you?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yeah? And look I'm talking.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
This was before simply safe security cameras, you know, which
where everything is. Oh, this is before life three sixty yes,
So they just left, They just left and said, okay, boys,
you know or or in my case, Okay, Lynn and Calvin, y'all,
y'all I'll be good now. Yeah, y'all take care of
the house, no parties, Yes, sir, your mom tell me.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
The dead giveaway was how clean the house was when
they got home, right, she said, y'all are so stupid. Yeah,
no way, obviously you you had a major clean up. Yeah,
there's no way you're going to.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Do the house more clean than when I left. Yeah,
because y'all never clean.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
Yeah, I've never never seen you all clean for no
reason ever, What you think I'm stupid?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, shining when they got home, right, Yeah, So.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
There was that.
Speaker 7 (03:29):
Then there was that one time that, uh the trip
got canceled. They were back and just like just in
like three hours they were back.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
It was supposed to be three days. They were back
in three hours.
Speaker 8 (03:38):
I was like, hey, yeah, why they're here at these
crazy people just showed up.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Get out of here.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
Don't you dare try to even find this. But I
saw a real of a dad that came home early,
and and hey, his boys threw a party of all parts.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
They had Pete.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
Goodwins swimming and just and nobody knew he was the
dead he starts walking through and he's dead and he's
trying to find his sons.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, like what is going on? But hey, people are like,
what's up? They have no idea. He's the homeowner party. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (04:20):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
And then you remember back in the day, Hey they're home.
What Oh everybody hide, get out, run out the broun.
Hey did the neighbors not talk?
Speaker 5 (04:29):
It seemed like that would be there, simply safe. Now
you know, right, I'm out, I'm out of town. I'm
going down to wherever. Yeah, could you watch the house
for me? Yeah, you know, I mean, let me know
if they throw a house party.
Speaker 7 (04:40):
Yeah, and let me know if for some reason, the
business it's closest to the house, for some reason, has
tons of cars parked there, you know, after hours. Yeah,
and walking and then suddenly there's lots of kids walking,
Like that's gonna trick everybody.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah. If thirty kids are walking down down the street, Yeah,
running through backyards, jumping fences, dogs barking.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
There's so much noise and people at this house, but
there's no cars. Must not be a party.
Speaker 7 (05:09):
No, it's incredibly loud, but surely there's not a party
because there's no cars.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
So so Rick unfortunately had a scheduling appointment he couldn't
get out of uh, and so he won't be here today,
should be back tomorrow and so uh the boys are
home alone. Uh and so so be careful that.
Speaker 7 (05:29):
Oh yeah, that's how we got on that, ycause when
daddy's gone, the boys come out to play.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
That's right, I mean they look, things won't be hey
when when Big Vox sitting here, things won't be done
the same. So y'all don't be too hateful on text Nation,
but we'll we'll hold it together.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Now, do you think do.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
You think Speedy did the text thing good? Or do
you think he could have get him a little bit.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Morebo his intro? Yeah, I was surprised. I thought he
actually did pretty well.
Speaker 7 (05:51):
Okay, all right, I was trying to that there's a
little more energy. Rick has more energy when he brings in.
I would have liked to have seen you give the
give the texts a little bit more. Hey, thanks, I
guess thanks for listening.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
You know, he could have brought.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
It a little bit more well, and he's king of excitement.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
I know as an over greeeder. That was your moments.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
You know now that you're going to overdo it, then
I'm overdoing it.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
And I just wanted to say, hey, you.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Just went none, that's your over greeted moment.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Well, I will channel Rick and and ask you about
a text because we've only had one. Uh is YouTube?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Okay? Somebody saying where's YouTube today? Here we go, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
It's live okay.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, I just throw one back over at you. We
had one.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
Because and when I say that, if Rix sees one
text of a problem, he'll he'll go, hey we are
we okay, and he'll announce it.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah. Now I will say this sometimes he's right.
Speaker 9 (06:46):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
And uh when the audience helps us on some technical
difficulties that.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
Scared me so much because I've done that before. Yeah,
we were, I mean we I think we were four
shows in. I forgot to hit a very important button
that says on air that one.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah that one okay? Well scary technical yeah.
Speaker 7 (07:04):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Busy weekend in sports.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
The NFL had some crazy games yesterday. But we'll start
with college football. Oh yeah, hey college football buddy. Hey, Hey, hey,
I have not checked on Dicky nadamir Uh today. I
hope he's okay. Uh, And look like I was. I
was actually over at some friend's house that everybody. They're
(07:28):
huge Alabama fans have been their whole life. And and
then there we are right in the middle of it,
Me and Terry.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
How did you know? How did they take it? It
was okay, it was a little quiet after the game
was over.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
H And if you don't know, Uh, Oklahoma came into
Tuscaloosa and beat Alabama twenty three twenty one. But this
is why they say stature for losers, because statistically.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Alabama whooped their butt up and down the field.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
They had three turnovers that turned into seventeen points and
it just uh, it was one of those they need
three more points. Yes, that's all they needed. Hey, Phil
goal kicker, Uh, that was not up on bamasfield goal kicker.
The first time I've ever seen a kicker like dog.
The dog in the snap. Yeah, Sam was high and
(08:13):
I was like, well, that says a lot about him.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
He got the by the way, the holder did a
good job got it he did. And it does look
like number four I think for Oklahoma did get a
finger on it. And yes, yeah, but hey, can you
jump the line like that and put your hands on
the offensive As long as nobody picks you up and
throws you.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
You can't you can't. You can't uh like catapult off
your own team.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
No, I don't think you can. Yeah, you can't like
jump on their back and dive over. Yeah, and they
can't pick him throw you.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Right.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
But like I was telling, there is a room. I
was telling everybody there after.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
You know, I wasn't too quick to say this, but
you know, hey, look, you still in control of your
own destiny. I mean, you win the Iron Bowl. You're in,
so all is good. You just can't afford another cup.
Oh yeah, there's a lot out there. I did see
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Of h here's that snap?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Okay, yeah it.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Was a little I mean it was a little Yeah,
you're right, this shows how perfect well.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
But I mean I see, I see, I see snaps. Uh,
you know at the helmet all the time, you know,
at the top of the helmet. But the holder did
a really good job of getting it down. Yeah. I
just didn't know you could put Oh.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Look at that look him jumping the line like yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
Yeah, and he does get a fingertip on it, but
I think it would have been left he.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I mean I was looking at the whole there you
go there's the snap stand on him or over he is.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
He leaves it. He was attempting to leap it.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
I'm not sure. Interesting, Wow, a crazy game thumb crazy?
All right?
Speaker 7 (09:48):
Well, well, you know when you can hear like the
neighborhood screaming when when things happen. Yeah, I was actually
outside doing like yard work, and you can hear. You
can hear when things happen in the games in my neighborhood.
That sounds like something got murdered in the woods. But no,
it's just a turnover.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
I love it. All right, will take a break. We'll
be right back sixteen minutes past the hour. A lot
to do today.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
We have got a busy weekend to recap as we
were just starting to do, and Daddy's not in the house,
so you never know, you never know what's going to happen.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
And we're back. Thank you so much for tuning in
to The Rick Burgess Show, and as always, we thank
you for making time for us each and every day.
As we mentioned if you missed it, we try our
best to schedule appointments outside the show, but sometimes it
is impossible. And Rick had a family conflict come up
over the weekend kept him from getting back to the
(11:01):
show today. He should be back tomorrow, and so as
we talked about, that means that we are left to
do the show, which five hours of the three of
us is a little scary. Hopefully there's we don't create
too much secondhand for all of you, but we'll get
through it, and we thank you for being with us.
We were talking a little bit about this past weekend.
(11:22):
It was it was full for me of my grandson River,
a little mixture of family time and the boys, not
all of them, you know, coming over at different times
college football. As we talked about.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Yard work, and I did something I can't believe I
did this late in the year, and that is I
actually cut the grass. And some of you might be
laughing in some of the northern regions of the show
where you you've already got snow and it's just bitter cold.
And we had we had cold for what maybe forty
eight hours. It was like ritter cold, Yeah, and then
(11:57):
it warmed up where the mornings are still low forties.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
And the afternoons are awesome. Oh, the afternoons are in
the seventies. Will be I think touching almost eighty one
day this week, and I had not done what I
call the final cut. Yeah, and went a rise the
lawn more and stuff, and you know, just officially slid
it all to the back of the garage and said, okay,
we're done. And so I cut the yard like it
(12:23):
was July. But I cut the yard in November, okay,
just a week or so removed from Thanksgiving, which just
felt weird. Trim, trim some stuff up, just did a
lot of yard work. Yeah. Which was strange for mine,
is that at that time of year where you go, okay,
it's done, and then all of a sudden you got
them wild onions pop up over them. Yeah. Yeah. Of
(12:45):
course with these kids, we used to put them up
and throw them at each other dirt clod yeah, oh yeah,
oh yeah. But yeah, I've got a lot of leaves
though I'm waiting on the mate. Let them all fall,
then I'll worry about right right.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
Yeah, they have started coming on down and where I
am because it's one of those newer subdivisions.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Uh, and they don't have all the old old growth,
old trees. It's just dump.
Speaker 9 (13:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
There's a little bit of some hardwoods across the street.
Where sometimes they'll blow across the street, but that's rare,
so mine was more just I'm cutting up, getting everything done.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
But it just I don't maybe I have.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
I can't remember, because you know how I am with
with remembering things. Maybe I've cut in mid November before.
I just don't remember.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
It didn't recall.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
My neighbor was blowing leaves just the other day.
Speaker 7 (13:35):
I'm out of the back deck with Ruby and we're
hanging out, yes, and he's going and y'all, this this
swirling wind just blasts every bit of leaves that he
just blew over into his yard, just rolls around.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
And I saw it.
Speaker 7 (13:52):
But Ruby also saw it, and she just gave me
this look like even as a five year old, she
could see that was bad.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
That was just wasted time. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
Yeah, you got to check that wind direction, you do.
You know there are some people that really like will
watch the wind and be like, today's my day. It's easterly,
and it's going to help push it over into that
corner that I wow.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Some people get serious with us management.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
It is tough after after I cut, it's just all
the clippings and stuff.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
I try to Are you a bagger or you worry
about it.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
It depends. Sometimes I'll and that's that's we're about talking
about mowing the no reason to to. You know you're
gonna have neck issues today. You keep jerking like that
over Tortu.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
But you did look at me.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Yeah, yeah, I'll bag. I'm not in every uh every
cut bag person. I will bag occasion it too tall,
especially when I start the year adler, I'll bag the
first couple of times and just get everything off and
then and then kind of start just maintaining it.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
But but yeah, I was off in it.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
But to your point about the wind, it was a
little windy where we are, and gusts and so luckily
it was blowing the direction I needed it too to
get it all in a pile. But it's it's tough
when it's blowing against you.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
It's you. It's the wind versus the backpack blower. Yeah,
I like it when it hits that whirlwind little tornado around. Yeah,
how about when how about when you get it right
back in the face. Thanks, just stuff all over you?
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Uh and uh And but anyway, I got it ready
and so the outside is ready.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
At least you won't get another letter from the h O. Wow,
I did have my trailer in the in the driveway.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Oh no, you better watch it.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
You rent a game.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
You got twenty minutes heat it out of the driveway.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
You can't keep that there. Well, I'm not.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
Uh it's called you know, maintenance and stuff. But I
have some d rings on my trailer that need to
be welded on. And I'm meeting a buddy mine, Thank you, David.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Some what greg, what are they called?
Speaker 2 (15:49):
What do you call it? Rings?
Speaker 10 (15:52):
Ring?
Speaker 5 (15:53):
And so I had to get it over to the
house yesterday late, uh, mid afternoon till late, because hey,
who's going to do that when we leave out in
the morning. It needs to be already hooked up and
ready just come right, So this afternoon I can get
that done, right.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (16:08):
And so you're in a weld You're gonna work on
it in your Driveway're gonna do the welding and stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
So the running joke in the neighborhood was, Hey, ho
a is gonna be coming by? You've just been out
there more than an hour. Yeah, I got in trouble
from Terry.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
Last yesterday we were uh we had river and doing
some fun stuff and he had a bag of nuts
and and he was he was just digging off in
the bag and eating them. And I'm like, hey, don't, don't,
don't spill spill them everywhere and and and I said,
I said, I said, what what you got there?
Speaker 2 (16:42):
And uh? He said I got some I got some nuts.
And he's like, I mean it's like all kinds of
it's a mixture different nuts.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
And I said minutes, I said, no, when you look
at somebody, so hey, you want some of the ease?
And Terry said, what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Funny?
Speaker 5 (16:58):
He he he is four years old. I'm like, what
he just thought that was the funniest thing. I might
have lost a card there on being a good but
good pops. Hey we got we got to laugh. And
he didn't really even know what. He was like, yeah,
you're a grand dad, doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Yeah, I know. Then before long he goes, hey, man,
yeah what you need river? You want some of these?
And he's like and he was holding he was holding
his sag of peanut.
Speaker 7 (17:22):
Maybe if he was five it would have been okay,
but he's only fours. I can't believe he's only four.
Man riding bikes already and everything.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
What a champ?
Speaker 7 (17:31):
He can drive a golf ball farther than I can.
That's the coolest cut that's the coolest four year old
I've ever seen.
Speaker 5 (17:39):
Well, I know the thank you for saying that. But
he's a he's a mess. He gets Tyler was exhausted
from from some a long day with him, and I said, buddy,
don't you look he gets it. Honest you you never
you never stopped, brother, and so welcome back to how
I was when.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
You were young.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
I don't want to hear that. No, not at all.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Uh but uh yeah, he he was over a lot
this past weekend. It was a lot of fun, but
no no time to rest. Did you have any of
the grand grand kids? No, no, we didn't this week.
You know at Lisa's been she's still battling it.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Yeah, she's she's she's getting a little better, but she's
been sick for two months it seems like, you know,
but we're getting there. We're getting there. She's back keeping
keeping on today. So okay, I'll run by my way. Okay, good.
Oh yeah, but we couldn't getting the holidays well and
the crank course. We got the family beach trip coming
at around New Year, so we'll all be down there,
(18:39):

estate commissions. They'll do all the repairs, all the cleaning.
This really is something else. They have so many Google
(22:54):
five star reviews too, because their offers are fair and
the process is transparent. The today one eight hundred seven
three four zero five zero four. That's one eight hundred
seven three four zero five zero four, one more time
eight hundred seven three four zero five zero four, or
you can find more information. It's listed at rick burgesshow

Sell my house fast. Let them take the worry away
and handle things for you. This past weekend we were
talking about college football. Briefly, Alabama getting beat at home
by Oklahoma, even though they beat them up and down
the field and with the stats and you know, you
(23:38):
hold somebody to under two hundred total yards and still lose.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Those three turnovers resulted in seventeen points. I was killing.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
That really hurt them. But there was a game earlier
in the day prior to that one that caught my
attention because the big headlines, the notifications coming through is
Texas A and M down by seventeen. You know, South
Carolina has you know, oh my goodness, so are they
going to shock Texas A and M? And you're like,
good night. So I flipped over and I did see
(24:07):
some of it, but then I saw Texas A and
M coming back.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I watched them get up what was it half thirty
to three or something.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Yeah, I think they mismanaged that that that possible touchdown
towards the end, and Shane Biemer even said, hey, that's
on me.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
They should have called time out to have more time.
I know he let it run out. Yeah yeah, oh wow.
Speaker 7 (24:25):
South Carolina did not score at all in the second half. No,
they thirty, hanging thirty and then nothing.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
You just had thirty to three at half time out.
There's this get three more? So have you win the wall?
Speaker 6 (24:37):
Right?
Speaker 2 (24:37):
I had all that. I was watching it, and I
had a feeling. I said, wow, I look at that lead.
Then I looked and I said, what was it? A
lot of game? Yeah, a lot of game, a lot
of game.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
Twenty one points. Texas A and M came out at
halftime and said, okay, we'll put twenty one on you.
And it was a different game and you could just
sense what was happening.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Well, one of the touchdowns for South Carolina was a
scoop and score on turnover, and you know, you get
things like that, and then again a lot of time left.
It's a really really good team, really good team. But
it was an exciting game. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
It drew my attention to a game normally I wouldn't
have really cared about I know, but Texa A and
M that they did hold on thirty one to thirty
and so they stay unbeaten at ten and er. And
the new AP pole came out yesterday. And this is
what you call the meaningless pole now because you have
(25:29):
the college football playoff pole. But this a lot of
times is an indication of what the playoff poll might
look like. You do wonder, I know, Ohio State boy,
they had a tough one against UCLA. My goodness, forty
eight ten Indiana. At first that Wisconsin game that was
going back and forth that they ended up pulling away
(25:49):
thirty one seven. They're off this coming weekend. Texas A
and M as we talked about beat South Carolina. They
played Samford next. I didn't know Samford had to go there.
That's here in Birmingham.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah. Wow, oh, blessing to one, bless them.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Georgia handle Texas. Uh they did. I didn't see anything
about that because I was in Jackson was watching the
jack State gang Cocks take on State. Yeah, and yeah,
we got to talk about the matchup for the anyway,
that's where I was. I didn't see any of big
win for the Georgia game. Yeah, well we'll have to
recap that Burgess appearance there. Yeah, the uh and old
(26:31):
miss that one kind of went back and forth.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Florida, by the way, Georgia did handle them.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Yeah, oh yeah, Georgia. Georgia's hitting stride, brother. I mean,
I don't know they've been out, but they did. Florida
try to keep Lane Kiffin after the game. Yeah, just
walk over here, come on here, put a new shure.
Speaker 6 (26:48):
Enough.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Did jsu win? I'm sorry?
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Yes, yeah, they did. Yeah, they did win.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
You know, Kirk Herb Street was talking about Lane Kiffin
and Old Miss and hey, what would you do if
you were him and whatever? And he looked around, He's like,
I don't know that I'd go anywhere. Yeah, And you know,
it used to be that college football was like, oh,
come here, it's a winning tradition and this that, and
now it's just how much money you got for the nil?
(27:14):
You know, how much can you pay people? And he'll
get a raise by of this. And he'll obviously get
a raise. And if you can stay at Ole Miss
and do that, you're like, well, then why leave?
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Really?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
And you know was talking about in that interview I
heard him got in depth then. You know, at first
he was kind of like, I ain't blame going to
down here in Oxford, Mississippi. But the same once he
got there, he realized how he loved it there. Yeah,
his family loves it there. So who knows.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
Yeah, But it was a close one towards the end,
and Ole Miss ended up speaking of keeping somebody scoreless
in the second half. Ole Miss kept Florida scoreless in
the second half, scored fourteen and the fourth to win
that one.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
But for a while there. It was a little little
iffy back and forth. So Ole Miss is at five.
Speaker 5 (27:56):
They are off next week and then they have the
egg Ball state which Missippi state. You know, they went
to Missouri and played with them, ended up getting beat.
They've got five wins, so if they could play spoilers
with Ole Miss h and also become Bowl eligible by
winning the egg Bowl. So we'll see how that plays out.
And in Texas Tech, that one's a hard one to
(28:17):
figure out. Oregon one, of course, but Texas Tech are they?
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Are they that good? They're ten and one. I mean,
you know, everybody talks about pre season how they spent
a ton of money, like you just said, yeah, and
what they call it next with checks? Yeah, oh yeah,
yeah they right next Yeah yeah, but they but hey,
I think they're legit. Yeah they're good. We'll see what
(28:41):
money can buy, because that's basically what they've done.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Oklahoma jumped three spots to be at number eight now
after beating Bama. Notre Dame at nine in Alabama fell
six to ten. That's just the ap pole, so we'll
see what happens. But the Notre Dame Pittsburgh game, so
Pittsburgh hosted college college game Day. Yeah, that was weird,
and the guest picker was Aaron Donald, which I think
(29:05):
can still play.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
He kind of red. His retirement was a little shocking
to me. It was like, wow, he was at the
top of his game.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
Yeah, but they ran off some stats here and the
Pittsburgh greats, the door sets and they just like, how
do you pick the best.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
To come out of there?
Speaker 5 (29:22):
You can't really, but Aaron Donald, of course, they ran
his stats in the NFL. I might have it off
a year or two, but something like nine or ten years,
and every one of them was a probacious crazy.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
It was crazy.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
But Pat McAfee, you know, he now is the He
is what Corso used to do. He didn't have the
mascot heads.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
He makes a big deal.
Speaker 5 (29:46):
He stands on the chair and does all this. Well,
so he does his pick and takes his shirt off.
They're in the stadium now for the last segment, and
he takes his shirt off and he picks against Pittsburgh
and picks Notre Dame. Well, Aaron Donald with him. But
now he takes his shirt off and Aaron Donald flex
(30:06):
He's like, look, of course he could really, he could
still play. Yeah, he and then he pushed McFee and
they're like, this is his last sack. But it was really,
really very funny.
Speaker 7 (30:17):
Yeah, if you take off your shirt, you don't want
Aaron Donald taking off his.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Shirt to right right, I was holding Pat mcav's chair.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
He is from spinning red Head is like, yeah, he
looks like the kool Aid man, y'all. McAfee's so red,
like you've been out in the sun.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Got his shoulders and but yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Yeah, Donald almost pushes him, like to the ground in
a bad way.
Speaker 6 (30:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
He somebody said that was his last sack even out
of retirement. Now, Pat being uh just kind of play
into the fact that he didn't want uh him to
like hurt him. He stayed away here. It was like,
I'm not coming back to the set. But he was
kind of funny. It was entertaining a little bit, if
it depended on what you like.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
But the show like that's funny.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
It's a lot of people. I think it's funny.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
Of course, Notre Dame. They they ended up beating Pittsburgh
thirty seven to fifteen, and so they look like they're
going to be in for sure.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Oh yeah, they got two losses. But there against good
teams and they were early. Yeah, they're good right right.
So that's just a quick glance.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
There's a lot more out there, but this is just
kind of a quick glance to what as to what
happened and what to expect Tuesday night when the college
football playoff rankings come out for this week.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
You know, cloer though, I.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Heard a rumor about Lane Kiffin by the way, where
he's going next? Really Florida Atlantic owls.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Going back to that, I went back to Florida Atlantic
hoited he was.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
My name's Lane, Kevin go.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Thank you so much for tuning in to the Rick
Burgess Show. Rick not with us today, should be back tomorrow.
So watch out.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
It's the beating, uh and we are having a good
time with you today. We I don't know about unscreen
phone calls. That was a big discussion over the weekend
with some friends of mine going, hey, what happened? But
you know, because we had dumped the caller that said
what kind of shut the unscreened phone calls down? On Friday?
(32:42):
And so I'm not sure with Daddy gone if we'll
do that, but we'll entertain it though, you think, so, well,
here's the deal.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
You screen them or not. It ain't no different. Yeah,
you know, somebody can tell you we've we've screened people
before that we had no idea what they we're going
to say, and they changed them. And then this person
reached back and said that that ain't what they said
and they apologize.
Speaker 7 (33:02):
Right, Yeah, that person, so speak on that on that note,
I'm glad you brought that up. That person did reach out.
Was an email or something like that.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
It was text first on text nation, going guys, I'm
hearing the discussion. I want you to know what I
meant to say or I was saying, uh, and then.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Was because the rest discussion was not nothing controversial at all,
you know.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
And then so I don't know, so his either either
he's not telling the truth or his phone changed the
sound of his voice at the most every one of
us moments.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Yes, yeah, because we did go back and listen. Look,
I'm king of Misspake.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
Okay, So but he said that he said the word
trigger like on a gun, trigger on a gun, but
that's not what it sounded like.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
So no, that was bad.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
That wasn't good, y'all.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
It was not good at all very uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Sorry YouTube. YouTube doesn't have the dump feature, so sorry
about that. Y'all got radio audience.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Screen and oh screen, there's no way to stop that.
Just bes aw you can do.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
There was a bizarre situation that we didn't hit on
because we were talking more about just the uh the
new ap pole and how that might break down and
some final scores over this past weekend. But there was
a there was a weird moment that that I was
watching the Texas A and M South Carolina game and
I'm like, did I see that right? Because there was
(34:29):
really no mention to it during the live broadcast, but
of course it went viral and social media and ESPN
even had to send out something saying that UH, the
Highway Patrol UH and the police involved with the game
day operations for Texas A and M had to release
a statement and everything and it's pertaining to UH.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
South Carolina called to pass and this guy is a
world class sprinter.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
And he showed well, he took off and it was
it looked just like a hitch route or something in
the middle that would just look very casual, but he
called it and he he had grass and he took off.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
He did. He got to about the five yard line.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
You could tell he kind of was he kind of
let up a little bit because his right hamstring might
have he might have felt a little something and it
sent him off into the tunnel because he couldn't really
slow down or whatever. And so some of the players
went in there and they were walking back out, but
a highway patrol officer that was in charge of I
guess security, and maybe that was his corner.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
I have no idea.
Speaker 5 (35:27):
Yeah, but he he comes in and throws his shoulder
into him and then tells him to get the blankety
blanket out of here or something. It was a a
very awkward moment, crazy, totally uncalled for.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
Yeah, very odd.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
And and shortly after that they had to release a
statement and said that he has been relieved of all
of his game day duties and they would look into
the matter further.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
But did he have too much add to me? It
looks to me he's frustrated, probably because it's team at
this point is getting handed to him.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Secondly, Okay, I did not know that change that put it.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Like thirty to three or something.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Okay, I didn't know that they.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
Come back and win. Yeah, But this was in the
first half. Yeah, so and if you look there's there's
a bunch. It's almost like the whole team went in there.
I mean, it ain't just a couple of I'm not
defending him, but what I'm saying is I think the
frustration and then he's like, what are they doing up for?
They got no business in there anyway. I mean, let's
get back out and quit, you know, in here gooving.
And I'm not any's wrong. Don't get I'm not saying
he's right, but see there go three, four or five,
(36:32):
they're just going in, they're coming back out. Obviously he
should not have gone in there. He shouldn't have made
contact with him. And then the way he's acting is
way over the top. And I mean really it's like
he didn't want him in there, just say get out here. Yeah,
like I say, he had a little too much egg
in him. I guess so.
Speaker 5 (36:51):
But if if you can't control yourself that way, I
don't know that that that's a position you need to
be in.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
If you think they're back there, like right now, they
have no business you can walk that way. Once you
see him coming out.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Just just they're coming out. They're already coming out.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Yeah, he clearly threw both elbows out and it kind
of walked through a little red rover. Yeah, right over there.
That is so true. You know again, he's had it
that way. He's a little frustrated. I'm telling you. If
his team wasn't down about thirty, he was frustrated celebrating
on our tongue. I don't know what you're celebrating for.
(37:25):
You get your butt? Well yeah, yeah, just a I
was like, I was like, did I see that?
Speaker 8 (37:31):
Right?
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Did he just make I tell you, I haven't ever
seen anything like that.
Speaker 7 (37:35):
There's a cameraman right there by the way. If he
was filming in the right spot, he has a great
shot of this. I cannot wait to see the documentary
on this.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
Oh yeah, it was the to your point, Adler, it
looked like it was South Carolina. You know, they'll have
their their photographers and they're guys that are videoing. Yeah,
the hype videos and and everything.
Speaker 7 (37:53):
He was.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
He caught a really good shot of that.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Yeah, he did. Also, what it was in the world?
What is this the man bun section? We got.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Jewel man? Yeah, you could have been standing right between them.
Speaker 7 (38:04):
But I'm sorry if you have a man bun, you
can't sit right next to your buddy. It's like, you
know you, y'all got to split apart.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
Two man buns cannot exist.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
In my friend group. I'm the only one with a
man bun because that shows up.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
I just don't understand. Of course, some people are taking it.
Speaker 6 (38:25):
Oh I know.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Look it looked at Lebron James Is and everybody. They're
trying to make it a race.
Speaker 9 (38:29):
It's not.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
And I think it was just more of another uniform issue.
And and I'm Aggie and and y'all are whooping our button.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Mad. I don't know that it was because they were black.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Here's a wait, people are really doing that.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Oh yeah, trying to make that a race. It's a
white police officer. And but I don't mean to be mean,
but well, y'all is I truly believe if the guy
would have been white and doing the same thing, oh
jerk would have went an and done it no matter what. Yeah,
(39:02):
control idiot. It was all about I'm Aggie, I got
too much in me.
Speaker 6 (39:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (39:06):
And and they're whooping our button. Oh, Adler, there's people
online going on. I can't imagine what his body cam
footage looks like and imagine if the players didn't have
uniforms on, what he would have done all that kind
of stuff.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
It was I can't believe that. Oh, I mean I
actually can.
Speaker 7 (39:22):
But that's so funny because that was that was was knuckleheadedness.
That wasn't racism what we just saw in that video.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
People can be a knucklehead without being racist. People can
be a knucklehead without meaning racism.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
I mean, here's a guy that's there to control the crowd.
He's the whole thing. Yeah, yeah, somebody's getting helm. We
need to protect the players from this guy. And that's
what he was.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
Officer, Quit fighting the players, Officer.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
He is the official get back guy, and somebody needs
to get you back. Get Yeah.
Speaker 5 (39:56):
Saw it live, and like I said, they didn't say
anything about about it on the broad cast, but I'm like,
did that?
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Did I just see that?
Speaker 6 (40:03):
Right?
Speaker 3 (40:03):
What in the world?
Speaker 2 (40:04):
And then it kind of just went away.
Speaker 8 (40:06):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
And after that, a couple of hours later, I saw
an ESPN notification that they had come out and made
an official statement that he's been relieved, he's.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Been sent home, sent home and this game day, and
he probably does he didn't need to be out there,
especially you.
Speaker 11 (40:20):
Probably not.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
For the opposing team.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
You have his shoulder.
Speaker 7 (40:26):
Check your buddy when you're going down the hall in
the school, but then your buddy gives way more than
you thought he was going to give, and you end
up in the lockers.
Speaker 1 (40:34):

Speaker 3 (42:23):
You gotta find.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
The voice of Reeson in an unreasonable world. The Rick
Burchers Show.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
Welcome in to a brand new hour. I am speedy.
There sits Greg up. There is advert standing ready to
go in the TV room. He has YouTube a ricking
were without Rick today. Everything's fine, and you know, we
try our best to schedule appointments outside the show, but
sometimes it's just impossible. And he had a family conflict
(42:57):
come up over the weekend that kept him from getting
back to the show today. He should be back tomorrow,
but it's just sometimes impossible to schedule something outside the
show and it just happens.
Speaker 5 (43:08):
And so he will be back tomorrow. He should be
back tomorrow, and so we've talked about it. If you
missed the kickoff hour, that Daddy's not home. So the
house has been left to us, and so watch out,
be ready for anything. We don't forget. You got archives
of the day. Adler does a great job of that,
(43:29):
so if you miss anything, you can always go back.
We've covered a lot, from Alabama to the crazy highway
patrol officer that had too much aggy in A and
M South Carolina game.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
We've hit some of the ap.
Speaker 5 (43:42):
Poles, a pole that is out and what it might
look like for college football, and a number of other things.
A little recap from this past weekend. And speaking of that,
go ahead and speedy.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
You mentioned that with Rick out, it's the B team
here today. Oh yeah, I think it's that. We could
call the show the B Team and the water Boy
or something like that.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Oh I like that. Are you buy bouche in this situation?
Speaker 6 (44:04):
Like that?
Speaker 3 (44:05):
Or like Dirty Calvin and the Boys or something Dirty Cavin.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Good the Uh, it's kind of funny.
Speaker 5 (44:13):
It's like the franchise, Uh, super Bowl quarterback is not
there and so the backup comes in and you know,
you can still run the offense, but it's not the same.
Speaker 7 (44:23):
So yes, like when when Cam Newton got injured in
the National Championship Game but the team was.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
There to close it out and win war Eagle Boys.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Well, yeah, a great recap. I'll be gentle today. I'll
never forget you. And I were snowed in at the
old Studio on that day because Rick and Bubba were
broadcasting from Phoenix. Yeah, and remember when we got done,
we said we're gonna try it. We're gonna try to
make it home. And we both had forward drives and
we took off. How many times snow was deep? I
(44:55):
was on the interstate and it was just tire tracks
and everybody was in those tire tracks. Yeah, it's we've
we've you know, we've done that a lot. Oh yeah,
we've we've stood here many time. Should we try?
Speaker 7 (45:08):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (45:08):
And hey, look we're all we slept here yet.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
I don't think i've slept here yet. No close, real.
Speaker 7 (45:15):
Close, yeah, real close, real close, but not not quiet.
I did drive my wife's SUPERU in yeah last year.
Speaker 5 (45:23):
Yeah, we we've had we've had some help when it
comes to local past law enforcement that sometimes helps us
on Hey the streets are are you know, are working
or whatever. So a lot of times we were like,
well it's sketchy, but the main roads are okay, so
let's go.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Yeah, yeah, it's sketchy, but I boy, I really like
my own bed.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
Yeah like that. Yeah, there has been many times. And
you know now that Reese gets up early.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
He he works where he has to get up and
get gone early, and he understands the conversation when I go.
You know, for years, you're the first one out. Now,
all you overnight and your truck and all that, y'all
know it. But if you work early, early, early, you're
the first one out of any type of weather situation.
And there's been many a mornings when you leave the
(46:09):
house and you're like all right, well here and there,
and you normally have about two spots like okay that
he'll if that hill's good and that bridge is okay,
I can get there.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
Yeah, you're planning out your whole route.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
You're like all right, yeah, I hate I hate dealing
with all that.
Speaker 7 (46:24):
We were passing semi speaking of hills, we were passing
some that were stuck.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
On that day's stalled out. You're not going anywhere, buddy.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
But now that you got the bad van, bad a van,
I mean you could you could just park.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
It out here. We could all sleep in there. We
could all sleep in the weather. Sure about that one. Okay,
I do have a couch right here too.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:46):
You know, so it's like, well, y'all can have the couch.
I'll sleep in the van.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Yeah, I'll share. Get off Rick's laps, like I'm sitting
on his lap here.
Speaker 5 (46:57):
That's a good Texas. So last night Terry and I
were out. We're traveling down the interstate and all of
a sudden, she goes, what is that?
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Are you seeing that? And I'm like, what are you
talking about? I thought she was critiquing my driving like.
Speaker 5 (47:11):
She's normally doing, uh while looking at Instagram, which is
pretty impressive. How do you seeing what I'm doing when
you're looking at your phone?
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Good question.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
They can multitask and men can't.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
Women can. And it looked like a trail or a
train of of small lights and we caught video of it.
She rolled video and.
Speaker 5 (47:33):
If you ever seen like when they cover wartime at
night and you see that trail of lights, that's what
it looked like, and people living slowing down on the
interstate that. Yeah, people, you could tell others we're seeing it.
And I'm like, nah, I don't know what you're talking about.
And she grabbed video of it. She's like, you're not
seeing this, and uh, she had. She had a perspective
(47:56):
on on the sky that I didn't. Just it freaked
us out. Well, it wasn't more than maybe twenty to
thirty seconds, and Tyler sent a group video to the
family and said, is anybody else seeing this?
Speaker 2 (48:11):
And he shot it from his house. Oh wow, and
it looked exactly the same. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (48:15):
Man, Well, Reese responds and he's up in Huntsville and
he was just chilling out at my parents house. And
he said, they're saying it was the SpaceX starlink. You
just see a deal whatever. Yeah, they're saying that.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Starlink and then starlink whenever they launched the Please look
at the Internet access globally.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
Please look at them just moving across the sky.
Speaker 2 (48:40):
That's that's you can there. You can see him. That
is weird. And so that's what they say, look at
look at me that's what they say it is. That's
a good point. Yeah, we really don't know.
Speaker 7 (48:53):
Yeah, but uh, this was shortly after I'm gonna guess speedy,
was it like shortly after sunset?
Speaker 3 (48:59):
It wasn't like late late I.
Speaker 2 (49:01):
Would say, yeah, no, you're right, it's probably it was
probably six fifteen.
Speaker 3 (49:04):
Okay, yeah, there you go.
Speaker 7 (49:06):
So these starlink satellites they reflect the light at a
certain time the angle's right so that the sun can
still hit the satellites because they're not really like lit
up bright like that. So that's actually the sunlight reflecting
off the satellites. Those satellites are like three hundred miles
up in the air. They're traveling at like sixteen thousand
miles per hour, and they orbit the Earth every ninety
(49:28):
minutes how about, which is just crazy. But there were
so many of these sightings happening like this, people freaking out,
like what in the world is that the newer starlink
satellites are. They're purposefully making them less reflective so that
it doesn't it doesn't you know, it don't. Yeah, they're purposeful,
cause they're like, all right, we've got to stop freaking
people out.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
Yeah, if you'm a lizard man. That's bad enough.
Speaker 5 (49:51):
You look up in the sky and you see a
train of lights in a straight line. Yeah, and it's
going in the world, Yes, but it's uh. It was
starlink off, the constellation of satellites UH, launched by space
X to provide Internet globally.
Speaker 2 (50:06):
And that's what you get.
Speaker 5 (50:09):
Like, why is Pops cried? But no, it did startle Terry.
She was like, not is that because I've never seen
some of you on the Gulf coast.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
That was creepy. You're saying, they see it a lot.
First time we had ever seen it.
Speaker 3 (50:23):
I told us about it. I want to see it.
I've never seen it. I've never seen it.
Speaker 2 (50:27):
I want to see it. You did watch that video.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
I'm watching the video. It's not the same. Hey, did
y'all hear about the Aurora borealist or whatever it.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
Was over the he knows, we haven't.
Speaker 7 (50:36):
That's why it's not a persona the Northern lights because yeah, yes,
week you know, I.
Speaker 5 (50:44):
Tried to saw a picture. I tried to tell talk
to the guys about that adler.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
I try I saw that. I saw pictures going to lie.
You want to know why do you want to know
why you saw that, because we've been going to beds.
That's true to.
Speaker 6 (51:03):
Handler.
Speaker 5 (51:03):
Last week you were I think it was like two
nights they were talking about it and you were, uh,
and you had ran get coffee or something.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
You weren't in here.
Speaker 5 (51:11):
So I asked the burgess boys, okay, hey, y'all, and
I stopped myself because.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
I'm like, they don't care, They're not going to look
at and plus they just told me they went to
bed at six thirty. In a second, yes, come out
four thirty.
Speaker 7 (51:27):
What frustrates me so much about all that is that
people all all all across social media, this is an
electrical storm that's gonna knock out the crew near.
Speaker 3 (51:37):
I told you, I told you the end is near.
Speaker 7 (51:40):
It's just like I'm so sick of ominous, stupid tweets
that are like just you know, for engagement.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
And it's just so everything is taking on the grid,
doctor grid and just coming.
Speaker 3 (51:52):
Prepare prepared. I taught I've been telling you give me
a break.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Look a straight line of lights. They're coming for us.
It's like kidding us. It's time.
Speaker 5 (52:02):
Yes, I will tell you though the break lights in
front of you. Everybody was sicking that was a weird thing. Yeah,
if you didn't know what it was like, we didn't.
It's like, hey, hey, there they are.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
I love you, telling you I love your baby, listening
to dolls one last time.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
This here's the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
Thank you so much for hanging out with us.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Here on the Rick Burgess Show, I am speedy with
Greg Burgess eighty Van Adler. Rick not here today, should
be back tomorrow. This portion of the program sponsored by
a twenty four to seven burglar busting protection for your
home or small business.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
We're talking about Simplysafe dot com slash Big Vox. If
you're worried about the safety of your place, which now
I would think is more than every or with the
state of this country, you need to hear this because
right now our friends at Simplysafe dot com slash Big
vos are giving listeners and viewers, those of you watching
(53:11):
on YouTube early access to their Black Friday cell and
you'll save sixty percent.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
That's right, sixty percent. You know, in typical security systems,
they don't really prevent you know, the entry, they don't
stop crime. But real security stops a crime before it
even starts. That's why over four million Americans trust simply Safe.
Their team takes action before a criminal penetrates your place,
(53:41):
the moment someone steps into your property. AI security cameras
identify the threat and I learnt Simply Safe lives agents
and then the agents take action immediately confronting the criminal
and that if they need to trigger sirens and dispatch police,
they will. This means having simply Safe dot com slash
Big vox is like having your own personal security guard.
(54:02):
And right now you heard me say it, I'll repeat
it again. Sixty percent off any new system with early
access to their big Black Friday sale. So don't put
this off. Sixty percent off your system at simply safe

no safe like simply Safe dot com slash big Vox.
All right, so this passed? What Saturday night?
Speaker 3 (54:30):
Greg?
Speaker 5 (54:31):
When you left us Friday, you knew that you were
going to attend the Jacksonville State game. Your sister was going,
you mom, some of the former players had y'all set
up and we're gonna host you, and Greg sites reached
out said come on, and I was paying attention to
that game and a big win for Jacksonville State.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
Yeah in the Knnessas State. But y'all you were there
and how was it? Oh, it was a great. First
time I'd been since they had the new facilities and
the way it's set up. I say, every year, you know,
you got the group of former players of day had
the Burgess Boys. Yeah, all the former players. Anyway, they
always reach out to my mom. They check on her
all the time and they're always like, you know, hey,
we'd love to see you.
Speaker 6 (55:09):
Yea.
Speaker 2 (55:09):
So we said this year we're gonna go, and we
had picked the game earlier in the year. This game
was scheduled to be at one o'clock. Well, then a
guy where both teams running feed and the conference became
higher profiles for the TV moved it to seven. Okay,
so I thought, oh, that's gonna be tough. But anyway,
some mom my sister went by a picture up, brought
her over. We all went, and my sister is a
former ballerina with the Southerners and it was band reunion night,
(55:33):
so that she actually got on the field and didn't
dance with that, you know, which was funny. And she
said she she nearly pulled a hamstring. But anyway, we
had a great time. Gies athletic director. Yeah, he reached
out and took care of us like he always does.
Eric Davis, director of player Development, former player of Dads. Yeah,
you know, they really took care of us and the
(55:54):
foreign players to Tim Suddeth and those guys. They made mom.
It was very special for mom, and because, like I say,
it's hard to get there. Yeah, you know, and but
she did great. And that new facility is incredible. I
went in. I haven't seen the whole thing yet. They
got some new suites there and then zone and then
led on the whole wall and it, I mean, it's
(56:15):
top notch. It is nice, and it had a heck
of a ball game and they won the game. So
I believe if I heard right, they could play each
other again in the conference championship. I may be wrong
about that, but I thought I heard that. But we
had a great time. And if you get a chance,
if you're ever there to get a tour of the place,
you need to go look at us. Really nice so
uh the uh it was above the old field house. Yeah,
(56:38):
you know, they tore the old field house down and rebuilt.
But it was the box where y'all were was up
up above all.
Speaker 9 (56:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
Yeah, yeah, Hi, it was nice.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
I'm in the bucks.
Speaker 2 (56:47):
Yeah but no, but but it was great. We had
a great time. And like I said, the place was packed. Man,
it's back and forth. Looked like a really good game.
It really was. And then the crowd was huge, huge crowd.
So it was fun. We had a great time. Like
I said, once, when it got moved to seven, I thought, oh, mam,
you really want to go seven? Then come? You know
that pretty good drive? Yeah, she said, no, I'm good.
(57:09):
So great. We had a great time. It's good seeing
those former players. Ran to a lot of people that
I hadn't seen in a long time. I bet conversations.
We had fun. They all want to tell stories about Dad. Yeah,
there's some good ones I hadn't heard, probably heard most,
but I had to be a special moment looking down.
Uh at the field is named after your dad, And
(57:30):
they always think it'd be in touch with mom because
Mom actually back in the day when Jack Stay was
a ghost South conference, you know you rode a bus
to the games. Yeah, and uh, she always rode the
bus with the team, so they all knew her. You
know coming up. That's special. Yeah, it was. It was
a good night. And so your sister almost pulled a hammy. Yeah,
she said about halfway through it, she was, hey, kicking
a little high, kicking a little high, and she said
(57:50):
the person next year got the kicking a little higher
than her. Said, she tried to step it up and
kick high. Yeah, but she made it.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Yeah, you got to be careful. You got to stretch
before that.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
Yeah, if you're doing, you know, with it, like the
rock ass they get in lined. Oh yeah, she got
she got in it. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (58:10):
Afterwards like, oh, it's like when we would get together
for football after high school, you know, yeah, get the
boys together, and then slowly but surely, we just injure
ourselves more and more every year, like gosh, let's maybe
just take a break this year.
Speaker 2 (58:25):
It would take a week to get over it.
Speaker 3 (58:27):
Yes, it was hard. I tore my a cl one year.
I remember, It's like, I don't think this is worth it.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
Yeah, you had that surgery. It went long after you
came to work here.
Speaker 3 (58:36):
You know what it was.
Speaker 7 (58:37):
I actually I thought I retore my a c L
after two knee surgeries.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
That's what That's what it was.
Speaker 7 (58:44):
And my because my knee made a really loud popping
sound and it was on video, and we played that
video on the show Speed.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
You kept going yeah, uh huh hit playing it over
and over again.
Speaker 10 (58:54):
Good.
Speaker 7 (58:54):
But I actually went and got re evaluated with Lemak,
who did my needs the second time, and Ladmack was like,
guess what, buddy, you didn't retear it.
Speaker 3 (59:03):
It just that was just a little incident.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
You had one surgey because remember I took one of
the staples out, yes, at the studio. Yeah, I didn't
do it right.
Speaker 7 (59:13):
That was the one actually, yeah, yeah, sure, advise that
you were just pulling up on a staple that is squeeze. Yeah,
you hook it into undo it and you just pulled
straight up.
Speaker 2 (59:23):
We'll probably asked the wrong person.
Speaker 3 (59:25):
You're right, Yeah, that was probably not why.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
Yeah, but you know, Greg, there was that.
Speaker 5 (59:30):
That's that's one time this past weekend, back to the
Jack State game, that you didn't have to travel normally.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
You're the traveler, I know. I told him, I said,
look at the time, don't bother me, you know. Yeah,
I'm just going around the corner. Yeah, I'm right here.
I can nearly jog home. Yeah, that's not close. But
I need to go more. It's it's really what's a
good game to experience? From what I saw, it did
look like a great crowd. Oh yeah, there was Greg.
Speaker 7 (59:53):
I've never been to your house, and I've never been
to a JSU game. So anytime you want to invite
me over, spend the night of your house. Afterwards, there
you go, we'll go to one of them Wednesday games.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
No, Adler, you look, you just pulled the big van up.
You don't need to hang night inside you except with
Buddy and Millie. Yeah, Buddy and the dogs.
Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
What's with the weirdo in the van all night?
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
I know you're in there. They can get footage of
the midnight Riders. Yes, hey, they were out again. They
keep adding members. Alsa claimed there was one little one
with them. This time there was the two main ones.
She goes, there was a little furry one where it
came from. I got all the pillows up, please tell
you all. Yeah, she hides the pillows at night. Now
never did find hers that they were actually carrying around
the property and moving it to different places. The neighbors
(01:00:41):
have got some great pillows. And I got a new
pair of slippers from somebody.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, still denying any involvements
(01:01:11):
in the food fights of nineteen seventy nine.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Rick Burgess, it is the Rick Burges Show without Rick today,
though he is out today. Should be back tomorrow. As
much as we try to schedule appointments outside the show,
sometimes it's impossible.
Speaker 5 (01:01:31):
So he'll take care of that. Should be back tomorrow.
So we've talked a lot about the head coach not
being here.
Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
So it's just us. It's B team And what'd you say, Adler?
The B team and B.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Team in the waterboy?
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
There we go, the B team in the water boy
a dirty speedy and the boys.
Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
Yeah dirty Calvin and the boy.
Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Calvin, I like Calvin, yeah, and speak speaking of water
boy you Adler, you get a like. Look, we all
do this, right, Greg, you get a lot of touretts.
And this time I'm all, I'm bald and cheap. That's mine.
I'm sorry to hear that. And Adler is that he's
small and crooked. He's a little bit and as he once.
Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
Was, I'm still pretty bad.
Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
You've done a lot better. You're to be when the
first time I saw you look like an oh, I've
been beside yeah, I looked like the letter C you
really honestly from the side, I mean when we first
he's worked hard at it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
He has I sleep on a board.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
Now and uh sleeps in that van.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
I sleep on concrete floors. It really helps.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
It makes his kids walk in his back.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
Actually, I've been doing that really nice iced mind you
just did all the time.
Speaker 7 (01:02:36):
I'm like, anybody, anybody want to stand on daddy, Anyone
to jump on my back.
Speaker 3 (01:02:40):
There's a little game.
Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
Yes, Uh, but we see you doing some of those
exercises doing the show, and every now and then the
camera does too. You've either got some weight or you're
walking around doing It's always interesting to see what he's
come up with.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
That's help.
Speaker 5 (01:02:54):
But you know what, everybody has their own little thing,
and uh, it has helped you a lot with your back.
But uh, you were talking about maybe a new segment.
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Yeah, brand new. I thought you were talk I thought
you were in a talk longer. He was even something
really weird. Yeah, yeah that's okay.
Speaker 7 (01:03:10):
Oh by the way, yeah, yeah, Greg, he came up
when somebody's eating their breakfast.
Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
Greg, it's not kind to like look at it with
like you like you smelled a turn.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Well, did you see it? If you see his bro now,
I haven't seen ceas giant leaves. He's so thankful. You're
talking about stuff rolled up in it? What do you mean,
johnt leaves with its like a lettuce sandwich.
Speaker 3 (01:03:28):
Let him talk, Let him talk.
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Was it greg described to leave and it had rice
in it or something? It was rolled up like a
doobie or cigar or a cuban.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
So what that was was grape leaves.
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
Grape leave like you're talking about like a grape vine
that's literally leaves off of a grape yes?
Speaker 6 (01:03:49):
Or yes?
Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
Have you eaten it all? Or can you show that taste?
Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
I took a picture. I'll just I'll just google grape leaves,
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
I did take a picture, but I didn't send it
to my so what because you know he's into Hey,
I'm gonna eat better, I'm gonna do this. I'm not.
I ain't wearing deodorant.
Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
I'm not doing you know, I found a good deodorant.
I'm on daily deodorant now because y'all just gave me
so much crap.
Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
It's not it's not it's not good stink. So before
you weren't having daily. Oh my gracious, Greg, that's like,
what is it looks like something a dog left cleaning
up the backyard.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
No, thanks a lot. That's my like one of my
favorite foods.
Speaker 7 (01:04:24):
All right, what is It's of a grape It's a studable,
It's a stuffed grape leaf, and it's uh, it's a
it's a food that's famous in a region of the
world that you know, Greg, you probably don't like those
people because they have brown skin, so you wouldn't like
this food anyway.
Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
But this is brown people food, and you wouldn't like it,
so shut up and don't make fun of my food.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Brown people food.
Speaker 7 (01:04:47):
It is, uh, it's they're actually really good. They're Mediterranean
Lebanese people do it.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
It's you know, but it's a stuffed gray blue and
it's actually very good. It's actually very.
Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
Load.
Speaker 3 (01:05:03):
It's actually really good.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
I'll give it. I would try it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:06):
I hate that. I ate it all. I hate that.
I'm mad right now. I hate it all one. It's
somebody backed me up here. That is good on our tech.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
I don't know you could eat leaves off of a grapevine.
Let's see.
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
Never mind that what all is in it?
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Like, give me everything.
Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
It's meat and rice.
Speaker 7 (01:05:22):
Okay, I like meat. Yeah, yes, I don't know about
the leave. Somebody in the tech, well, you got to
get through the leaf. It's like it's like the burrito.
It's like the wrap of a burrito.
Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
The wraps decent on a burrito.
Speaker 7 (01:05:34):
Nobody's backing me up. I really wish somebody would back
me up and say this isn't so weird.
Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
Well, I bet it is. I would try it. So
the leaf is to just hold it all. The leaf's weird.
Now is that what's the good? And is that's so
good for you that you've researched.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
That's not I mean, it's not. I don't I don't
think that's bad for you.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Everybody say it's a Mediterranean that's supposed to be the
greatest in the world. Goodness, you've heard. I've heard that.
Speaker 7 (01:05:55):
Okay, they taste like, okay, don't cuts it up.
Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
I like a lot of it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:00):
But that somebody cussed at us. They taste like, you
know what, that's not very.
Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
How about just they don't taste good? Would work.
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
It's Greek? Okay, it's Greek, my bad. I think that's
the same thing. And I don't know you think I
know you could have said it. Questions, I'm eating grape doobies.
Do you think I know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
No hand rolled great leaves.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
But the kids will actually even get into them. To
believe it or not. You can dip them in hummus.
It's good.
Speaker 7 (01:06:32):
Do you guys like hummus? It's okay, you gotta have
it SPI I like spicy hummus. I don't like bland hummics.
Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
It can be very promised. I liked olive out of it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
You like olives?
Speaker 9 (01:06:42):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
My grandma likes olives. I buy her a jar. I
buy my grandma a jar of olives for Christmas every year.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
Please don't Sam club Sales trying to brag and get
her a big jar too from Costco. You can't even
open it, she tells her family. He brought me some more.
I'll put it in here for the rest of them.
Just stack them in there. There's a bunch of them
in there every year. He thinks, I like them. I
like the ones that got garlic and jlopinos stuff down there.
Speaker 3 (01:07:14):
Yes, that's what I'm talking about. That's a good see.
I think you'd like these great believes. But have a
little tang to them.
Speaker 7 (01:07:19):
I probably they look you know, they didn't. That one
looked bad too. It looked weird, the one that you
looked at and.
Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
Then you looked at me as I was eating it, like,
what do you eat the garbon for? It looks like crown.
Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
It's a good gluten free option, Yes it is. I
picked the wrong one to look at.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
Yeah, sorry about that.
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Your face does say everything, though, Yeah, and you're you're
you're from that world. You wouldn't have jumped in there now.
Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
No, Speedy's the pickiest eater on the show.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
I wouldn't say that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
I would. I see. I saw you when you got
that steak that wasn't done, and though, oh yeah, you
were like a.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Kid, which they have to be rare. No they don't.
He made them go and catch it on fire and
blow it out.
Speaker 7 (01:08:03):
Look, I mean I saw him cutting it and he
kept looking for a spot that wasn't red.
Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
That's too red, that's too red.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Look. I don't I don't really, I don't particularly I
don't particularly like or a different cut. I don't like
it red like I mean, I just it's full of blood.
I don't like it. You know if it's purple. It's
really bad.
Speaker 3 (01:08:23):
Yeah, purple is bad. I'm good with red.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
One time my coaches said not good enough. But it
was dark in my apartments. I was watching a movie.
Speaker 7 (01:08:30):
I was watching a movie and I took a bite
of it and it was just I was like, turn
on the line of Oh my gosh, it's purple.
Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
So okay, I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
Department. Yeah, and there was something more meat cutters and
they would take like ground beef raw and eat it.
Well that's dumb, I know, but they would. I heard
some things they did too. You can't share now. You
make people think they were messing with their food or something. No,
(01:09:01):
they wasn't messing with food, but no, it was saying,
you know, I'm found, should be locked up. I've been
a couple.
Speaker 7 (01:09:07):
Of restaurants where they'll they'll serve up something that's, uh,
that's rare like that and it's weird, but I'll go
for it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
When we were kids, I don't like the uncooked tuna
when it's just I do yeah, more a little more done,
get that. When we were kids. My mother, she's one
of them, wants a steak and she wants it done. Yeah,
to a point. That it runs. And the same with
my mom. She would always send it by send it
back every I mean I would see the waiter coming
or waitress and they would have it, and I would go,
(01:09:34):
you might as well keep that one because you're going
to be coming back to get it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:37):
Yeah, and I was right.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
Everything she'd go cutting. I ain't eat that. He got
someone that someone that struggles with secondhand and uncomfortable situation.
How bad do you think that was from the I
bet it was terrible, especially when they love you mom,
but boys, she likes it. I mean well done and
they have well done and looking had a bad attitude
about it. If it was like could you cook this war?
I ain't eating that. It's always like, well, ain't gotta
make you mad? I mean, nobody was per cause a
(01:10:01):
problem and it wasn't pushing you on your property.
Speaker 7 (01:10:05):
Is that it's not actually blood into the steak of
that doesn't make anybody feel like.
Speaker 2 (01:10:10):
Because it ain't like out of a vein. Yeah, I
get it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
It's nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
It's like hemoglobin or something.
Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
It's something gross.
Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
But no, it's good.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
No, I love it. I do know you if you
overcook him, you run them. Yes, now you can undercook him.
My dad was he liked his a little too rare,
did he? Yeah? I wasn't in that category, but I
like it medium rare. My dad can't see his just
know if it's well, buddy, what's that.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Calvin Speedy?
Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
I want to see how many today you can work
your dad and being blinding story to see how you do?
You brought your dad into it. Used to like his
and I thought about that same thing. But right, but
I guess maybe that's just like you can see it.
I'm just saying it's different.
Speaker 7 (01:11:01):
His mouth works, Speedy, okay, but it's not like his
mouth doesn't work. He can tell what it is, right,
he's not my hope.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
This is food. He can tell what he's eating. He's
so kind.
Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
Everything's delicious.
Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
I about the nicest guy probably I've never met.
Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
Yeah, your dad absolutely, speed is the opposite. That's tough.
When he picks up an empty ford. Yeah, dad, it's
it's slid over the left, you know he was. It's
at nine o'clock now, I know it started at six
but moved around. He's amazing, he really is. But yeah,
I would think from the chewy he would he'd be
(01:11:40):
able to tell.
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
Yeah, because his mouth works. Buddy, Okay, it's right, just
his eyes.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 6 (01:11:47):
I got it.
Speaker 1 (01:11:48):
Actually, just rock.
Speaker 7 (01:11:50):
I don't know because I'm okay, it's not how it is.
It's not how it is, Buddy, Okay. I think he
I think he does better than you than you act like.
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
But if I put a blindfold on you, could you
tell exactly how well cooked it is? I mean yes,
I don't know, you could.
Speaker 10 (01:12:05):
I could.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
I'm like that. That's how I am. All right.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
How this segment of it started, don't you did?
Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

not here today. That's why you're hearing me. I'm speedy.
There's Greg, there's Adler. He is out today. We try
to schedule appointments outside the show. We just do speaking
of life happening, but sometimes it's impossible. So this past
weekend he had a family conflict that came up that
(01:13:42):
he was unable to reschedule. So he's taking care of
that today. Everything's okay, but he just couldn't avoid it.
So he's out today. Should be back tomorrow. You know
when we this is so us. We started the last
segment about tiny crooked little Man and never got there.
Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
So Adler, what's going on? Yeah segment?
Speaker 7 (01:14:04):
You know Rick does the hay bird, Hey bird, he
does uh huh, and that's when people from the audience
send him something.
Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
Yeah, we have hayburd.
Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
So I figured I could do a segment called hey
tiny crooked Man, Hey tiny crooked Man.
Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
Hard to get it doesn't flow? Yeah, how would it go?
Because you're always good at that, like the song, but
instead of hey bird, hey, bird, would it be?
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
Hey, Tony crooked man, Hey, Tony crooked man. Read some
emails right now?
Speaker 11 (01:14:33):
What what?
Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
What tiny stinky man? That could be? That could be that? No,
he works to the utterant now. I'm just trying to
make it flow better. He don't necessarily stink anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:14:44):
Hey, by the way, y'all can call me that on
the radio, but just just people in general and in
general public, if I could be honest, I don't like
being called that in the public.
Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
You know, I don't like that.
Speaker 7 (01:14:56):
I don't like being tiny crooked man. I don't like
being called tiny stinky man. You came and that's normal,
and okay, that's a normal thing for me to.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
Ask of y'all.
Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
You're not supposed to like that.
Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
I give it's fine that you' all doing on the radio.
But it's not like I don't like being in publics
with my kids and somebody yells like, hey, tiny crooked man.
My kids are like, is that guy gonna fight you?
What's going to appreciate?
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
It's like, hey, I get it. Where you go cigarettes, speedy?
I can borrow? Yeah, okay, I'm with my mom and dad. Yeah,
can't Where are they?
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:15:27):
I always look around like that. Your mother's glad.
Speaker 6 (01:15:31):
They laugh.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
Your mother's glad they recognize. Yeah, hey, if they don't,
she's gonna make them.
Speaker 5 (01:15:36):
You ever get an elevated with her and that door closes,
you're like one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippis. So do
you listen to the Rick burgersh you know, this is speedy.
And I'm like, and I go, I'm sorry. Some of
them even have like I wish headphones on. They're like,
excuse me, ma'am, do what.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
I'm like, I wish. So she's just a proud mom.
Speaker 5 (01:15:56):
So sorry, and they giggle a little laugh and they
can't wait for the elevator to open again, right, and
then by the time it does open, in all seriousness.
Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
They they're like, what a sweet lady. Yeah sweet.
Speaker 5 (01:16:07):
Now they know how to listen, where to find it
and and everything about equip Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
But I do have a letter from the audience.
Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
To readoked many Crooked Man kind tiny crooked Man.
Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
Does those songs seem a little intense for what we're
actually about to do.
Speaker 7 (01:16:24):
I'm not trying to, like, you know, criticize Rick when
he's not here, but he's just intense.
Speaker 3 (01:16:30):
And then it's like, hey, Rick, how do you like
your steak cooked?
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
You know whatever? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
It just seems a little intense.
Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
Whoa, Okay, easy, gosh, I thought of that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
But here here's a letter from a person.
Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
Okay, so so you got now what now.
Speaker 3 (01:16:59):
Seems too intense?
Speaker 6 (01:17:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
Whoa? What about this one? He crooked? Many crooked man?
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
Stand up?
Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Stand up? Okay, already are already are.
Speaker 3 (01:17:13):
No, we don't have to have your shoulder blades are
lot wings on your back?
Speaker 7 (01:17:19):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
Keep you chan high, keep you chan hi.
Speaker 7 (01:17:24):
It's bad right now, even it's so my my my
posture will get worse at times. Okay, anyways, this is serious.
I got this letter from a person because it was
a famous story on the show. I took my wife
to go see the Otter Experience at the.
Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
Atlanta Aquarium, not bragging. Yes, so I actually booked the
tickets like six months in advance.
Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
Story.
Speaker 7 (01:17:44):
My wife's favorite animal is an otterpotamus. I buy the
ticket six months in advance from the Atlanta Quaerum for
the utter ex months.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
We're all excited.
Speaker 7 (01:17:54):
Yes, yes, you don't remember that in that time period
they changed over their whole system, that's right, and they
didn't take the old reservations into the new system done.
Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
So we get there and they're like.
Speaker 7 (01:18:08):
Like, we're here for the otters and they're like, we
don't have your information. They send us back outside. They're
going through their credit cards. They had everything they did,
but they had to go through the whole entire credit
card history to verify that I had paid, like you know,
it's costs money. And once they did that, but they
had overbooked the otters because the can't be around ten people.
(01:18:30):
The orders could only be around eight people. And so
my wife and I are standing there and they come
out and they're like, who's ready to see the otters
and all the kids and families granted there were some
more kids and families there than.
Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
We are grown and they're like, yeah, we are hotter time, hooray.
And then we never saw the audis.
Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
There wasn't another whether they gotta let them rest or something.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
They're very particular about their order care.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
So did you tell them you're like a half a person.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Yes, exactly, thank you. I have thought of that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
Yeah, you have problems in Atlanta. Remember the Tighters Web concert.
Speaker 3 (01:19:01):
You thought you were Ye drove to that for no reason.
Speaker 7 (01:19:04):
Yeah, I forgot about that. That was kind of my
fault too. So my wife's favorite animal is an otter.
That brings me to this letter. My wife's favorite animals otters.
Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
He loves otters.
Speaker 7 (01:19:14):
Hey, tiny crooked man, Hay, tiny crooked man. I've always
done some trapping and caught dozens of otters over the years.
I've actually i've never seen one. I took some Okay, here,
I took some videos a couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
Here you go.
Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
One is a pair in the water that's mating.
Speaker 7 (01:19:35):
Okayorn southern fur is at the bottom of the barrel. Anyways,
I've got some skins in a freezer and I want
to and I want to send them to you. You
know what did If your wife wouldn't find it more
bid or weird, I can send you one for a
(01:19:56):
unique Christmas gift for her.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
Let me let me step out here.
Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
It's the entire skin, the face and all, minus the
feet and the body. It's like an empty tube.
Speaker 6 (01:20:06):
Saw.
Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
Let me is what this person shad.
Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Alive? So he says it won't what's left of one?
Speaker 7 (01:20:15):
I just wanted, I said, this is incredibly kind really
would scream, really sweet of you, but this would horrify
my wife.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Very kind of you to offer. He goes, no, I
didn't explain. Well, it's like it's good enough for a
quality of blanket or garment. I said, So it's got
a face.
Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
It's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (01:20:29):
This is horrible. I want to stay married.
Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
Yes, here's the Rick Burgess Show. His life eight months.
(01:21:01):
Suck it up, Buttercup. Rick Birch's.
Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
Come on.
Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
Top of the hour.
Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
Thank you so much for tuning in to the Rick
Burgess Show. Rick not here today, should be back tomorrow.
Just had a scheduling conflict. He's having a handle and
hopefully we'll be back tomorrow. Almost impossible to always schedule
those outside of the show because guess what sometimes they
just tell you in the appointment is so.
Speaker 5 (01:21:28):
Anyway, it's speedy, Greg Adler. We are the Good Time Game.
It's the B Team and water Boy that's here today.
It covered a lot. If you missed any of it,
go check the archives out to just search Rick Burgess
Show and get that podcast daily podcast right after the
live show is complete. Always does a great job Adler
(01:21:49):
does on making sure that's posted and don't forget the
YouTube option as well. You can go back and watch
what you missed. So the last hour if you did
miss that, we talked about little crewked Man. Uh Adie
Van Adler maybe instead of hay bird hey burge. He
just his segment is hey, little crooked man, something to
the table.
Speaker 7 (01:22:09):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:22:09):
And a lot of people are saying, just have it
to the thing of a theme of Rocketman.
Speaker 7 (01:22:14):
Uh just you know, yeah, reading lots of emails from
all the fans, Yeah, something like that. Did you see
the other one, the Michael Jackson. Somebody said, take Michael
Jackson's Dirty Diana and substitute dirty guy Adler during who thinks?
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
Who thinks of that?
Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Anyway, little crooked man, we do have a hay Birge
hay burge.
Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:22:48):
And I won't play the theme because, like you say,
it's too hard for something like this. But uh, Lisa
half elf, your lovely wife Lee on the weather, Yes,
working on it. Someone emailed and said, Greg, could you
please tell me more about Lisa's Christmas bingo game?
Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
She has?
Speaker 5 (01:23:08):
This lady does nine kids ages four to twenty seven. Wow,
and it would be uh, I want a fun game
as that sounded like really a whole lot of fun
and it's something to play together over the holidays. And
can you elaborate a little bit on this Lisa Bingo game.
Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
Basically, it's a hybrid of Dirty Sanna and bingo and
Lisa's family they always played bingo on Christmas Eve growing up,
and then Dirty Santa came around. So what you do,
It's not really complicated. She has a bingo set. One
of the things you crank and everything. Okay, yeah, oh
are you serious? Yeah, ye, little crank everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
Gets underground gambling operation.
Speaker 9 (01:23:49):
Oh there you.
Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
Hey, no reason to look at Adler disgusted. He just
didn't know she really had one of those. Anyway. So
you get your cards and you were starting to playing bingo,
and then if you get bingo, you get to go
pick the gift. Now, we don't clear the cards after
every Bingo if they are to take forever, so you
just keep playing your card and once it starts, then
you know what I'm saying, So you you know, if
(01:24:12):
you like realing, gonna start over. It didn't like that,
So the winner they pick and then the same rules
that go with Yankee swaps. Last Dirty Sona go for this.
Now if I bingo and you've already been going to
pick one. I can get your gift or I go
get another one. It's just dirty centa with bingo added
in it. Okay, that's fun. Yeah it is, crank. Thank
you for taking enough energy to explain that. You like that?
(01:24:34):
You think I did?
Speaker 6 (01:24:34):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
I didn't think you could. Of course, every year we
lose some of the little things you put on the numbers,
so we just use pennies. Yeah, you got a big
jug of pennies in there. I mean you have some. Yeah,
oh yeah, you better hang on to But uh, it's
just basically a combination of bingo and dirty center and
plus them. You don't figure your cards on the bengouse. Okay.
(01:24:56):
If you do, you're never gonna get done. Everybody's can
get bored with and the kids gonna get mad.
Speaker 5 (01:25:00):
Yeah, Yankee swap dirty Santa whatever. We've gone to that
over the last you know, five or six years as
a family on Christmas Day, and you have different types
of those, the silly kind where everybody just gets silly gifts,
and then some that are pretty nice.
Speaker 2 (01:25:17):
Yeah, and and the family really takes it seriously. There's
some really good stuff. It gets down to the end
and people are like, now, I really kind of want that.
You ever seen people kind of get attitude about the
person that brought some that wasn't really good. They're like, well, all,
let's step down, and you brought a deodorant.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
Yeah, or like bear mace that time I brought bear
mate exactly. Yeah, I thought that was a good gift.
Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
But yeah, yeah, Adler, you stopped at the convenience store
on the way in because you forgot your gift.
Speaker 7 (01:25:42):
No, yeah, I stopped at bargain Hunt on the way
and because I forgot my Yeah, I found one seven dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
Yeah, but that Bengo sounds that sounds fun.
Speaker 5 (01:25:54):
I cannot believe you help organize that or do you
just sit back and let the machine and I put
a little picture it out of.
Speaker 3 (01:26:02):
Her and so this is how I am picturing it.
I love it?
Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
Are you?
Speaker 7 (01:26:06):
So this is a substitute for everybody buying a gift
for everybody? Yeah, yeah, that's really nice because right now
kids we all get the kids stuff. I think I'm
buying a hundred presents, oh at Christmas time for one
hundred people.
Speaker 3 (01:26:18):
This is getting out of hand. I need my family
to stop having kids.
Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
And stuff and you know, and that it's not well,
I mean, I'm not talking to speedy obviously. I don't
have a problem with buying gifts. That's not the part.
It's just trying to figure out what to get people.
What's he want? Yeah, oh, he wants a barbecue, Grill said.
You know, yeah, that's why these birls, the brick and
mortars have suffered over the last few years because doing
(01:26:44):
that online and just going I'll just order something to
have it delivered instead of getting around.
Speaker 5 (01:26:48):
You remember how I used to have to run around
the city. Yeah, ten different stops trying to find something.
Now Lisa does all her shopping from the house.
Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
Do you remember as a kid getting the Sears catalog
and stuff circling you talking about Me and mom were
talking about that the other day, the serious catalog and
of course did't show up back in the summer. Oh yeah.
And we get in that back section and start picking
out toy circle what we want? A lot of it.
We yeah, no way we were gonna get but you know,
I don't know, were pretty good about it. They we
(01:27:16):
get us most of stuff we asked for, But the
Seis catalog was where it was at you, like in
the bra section.
Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
Hey hey, uh, of course that's why you would get it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
You didn't go to the toys into the middle. Amazon
has done that. Now Amazon has like an Amazon catalog
or magazine and like things that are and it brings that,
brings that back.
Speaker 6 (01:27:42):
And so uh.
Speaker 5 (01:27:43):
River was sitting at the counter and and and going
through the catalog and he's like, Okay, let's circle things
that you're interested in. I'm like, but you can't circle
everything on the page. I mean, every single thing on
the page is being circled.
Speaker 7 (01:27:55):
But it is doing that right now, Yes, yeah Dalmatian, Yes,
every face just like check her box right right.
Speaker 5 (01:28:02):
And then I go, okay, if you had to pick
three things, three things out of everything you circle, which
one would they be if you had?
Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
If you go, I got my top three, Well I
have more than three. I got it. Point but right,
but you can only get three. Let's just play that.
Play that game with Pops. What would it be? He
couldn't figure it. I can't wait. You learn them all?
I want them all? Right, So there's every remote control car.
You can't have only one. Uh, but there's something.
Speaker 5 (01:28:32):
About that magazine or that cattle, sitting on the counter
and looking through it and circling.
Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
You can't really get that online.
Speaker 6 (01:28:41):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:28:41):
He had a ball doing it. No, I didn't know
they had that still either. Terry catalog. Yeah, Terry had it.
I don't know where we got it or how we
got it.
Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
But showed up at my house too. I don't know
where it came from.
Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
Okay, so you got it too, yes, yes, so, I mean.
Speaker 7 (01:28:55):
Ruby got weird with it when she first when it
first came in, she was like in the backseat of
the car, I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, kid, Let's let's
calm down here.
Speaker 3 (01:29:05):
After I must circle, m circle my circle. I'm like, whoa,
you don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
Yeah, I didn't get one much Amazon, Lisa orders, I'll
get Yeah. I mean you seen Cabellas and Bass Pro.
They have catalogs and stuff. It's just something about flipping
through them and yeah, and circling them all and as
an adult man, you probably shouldn't be doing that, but
you know, given given tarian an idea.
Speaker 5 (01:29:27):
No, but he was having a blast. Hey, he hunkered
down for I know, thirty minutes. So many choices, so
many my goodness.
Speaker 7 (01:29:34):
Yeah, yeah, I remember being a kid making that list
and you're giving it to your parents.
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
You're hoping so bad. They're like, sounds good, you get
all of it.
Speaker 7 (01:29:44):
I remember one when you're My mom literally totaled it up,
like this is like ten thousand dollars worth of worth
of stuff that you're asking for. None of this is
going to happen, right, You're not gonna get a four
wheeler and a golf car go and a go car.
Speaker 6 (01:29:58):
Like what do you do?
Speaker 3 (01:29:59):
This is let's get real here. You're in fifth grade, now,
let's get real.
Speaker 2 (01:30:03):
You remember when you were and you would you would
convince yourself wrongly that you were going to get something
the next day at nowhere where it is you're looking
around going like everything but it's missing mine?
Speaker 7 (01:30:15):
Yeah, I know, I never got a four wheeler. Hey, buddy,
you can keep asking for a four wheeler you're not getting.
Plus you live in a neighborhood at this point in
your life.
Speaker 3 (01:30:22):
What are you even doing with the four ride?
Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
But yeah, I got a four wheeler one year because
Tyler told Sanna that he wanted dad, and I'm like,
well that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:33):
He may bring it Christmas magic.
Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
He wanted one and he wanted daddy to have one.
Speaker 5 (01:30:38):
Where's an eighty and a three fifty out in the
parking lot. Uh, but you know, we talk about our grandkids.
That's Adler's kids age, so he's living it as a dad.
But it is a fun time though too.
Speaker 3 (01:30:53):
It's great.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
But you can get carried away. Oh yeah. Every time
we would put the toys out, whatever, Lisa will go.
I don't think they have enough. I'm going thank got plein.
Speaker 7 (01:31:04):
Yeah, plus plus the president from you, plus the presence
from Santa.
Speaker 8 (01:31:07):
All that up.

as we roll along, we've got a number of things
to get to. We've discussed a lot. If you've missed it,
(01:34:27):
go check the archives today as the B Team and
water Boy are holding things together till Rick gets back
with us Lord Willing tomorrow. There was a lot of
stories out yesterday and I didn't see it, but I
heard about it that Shador Sanders finally got to play
for the Browns, and I didn't catch any of it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
Dylan Gabril got hurt concussion, yeah, okay, not sure. I
know he got sacked on his first snap, but that's
not necessarily on him. I don't know. I just saw
that in the headline.
Speaker 7 (01:34:57):
Okay, yeah, And did you see Shardor Sanders he gets
sacked and then they taunted Saduor Sanders with his own
like evidently has a watch celebration.
Speaker 3 (01:35:06):
Yeah, watched selly as they say the celebration, right, and
there's the sack and then uh there's the watch.
Speaker 2 (01:35:16):
Oh yeah, yeah, they were playing the Ravens. Ravens beat him, uh,
and that was the sack celebration. So was he did
throw an in? Was it a start or did did
he go into the game he went? I think he
got hurt. The concussion was daring this. I saw concussion. Yeah, okay,
so that was something he was thrown into. Then, yeah
(01:35:38):
he was. He was number two coming into that game
and number one went down.
Speaker 3 (01:35:42):
He was in here he is coming out on the field. Yeah,
it was the third It was in the third quarter.
Speaker 8 (01:35:48):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:35:48):
Here he is taking the field right now. Okay, schir
door Sanders. Here he's going first time. It is cha
door Sanders.
Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
Waiting everybody in so here he comes.
Speaker 5 (01:36:03):
So I guess depending on how how the concussion protocol
uh is and and the recovery, he could start next week, right, Yeah,
I guess.
Speaker 2 (01:36:11):
If he just depends all the tests. Yeah, we'll see.
But yeah, I didn't see any of that. You know,
unless you have the NFL package and all that, then
you don't you only subject to the game that's in
your area. And and I didn't. Uh, I didn't get
to check that out. Uh did I see On Thanksgiving?
You know, Thanksgiving we talked about Macy's Thanksgiving parade, which Greg,
(01:36:31):
I know you love you wake up and watch that
every year. I can't wait. I get up and I'm
excited to get a bowl of cereal. Yeah it's and
I still have my slippers on. Yeah, and I just
love it.
Speaker 6 (01:36:42):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:36:44):
Did I wait?
Speaker 6 (01:36:44):
Wait?
Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
Are you man serious? Clark?
Speaker 9 (01:36:49):
Serious?
Speaker 3 (01:36:49):
Clark?
Speaker 5 (01:36:50):
I saw where and I just wasn't paying attention. There's
three games on Thanksgiving the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:36:55):
Okay, there's always the lines. Who are they playing? They
got the Packers in the lines. There's gonna be that's
gonna be two good games. Oh yeah, of teams, I
should say. And then here's another good one. The Chiefs
and the Cowboys. Oh, Cowboys always play too, and that's
going to be at like three point thirty Central. And
then the Bengals and the Ravens they play at night.
So that's about them. By then we're all sleeping. Yeah,
(01:37:16):
we're done, tired and done by then. Yeah, is the
egg Bow on Thanksgiving again? Or the day after that?
Let me check? I'm not sure in it normally on Thanksgiving?
Yeah it is. Let's see here. They play on Friday,
Black Friday, eleven am power.
Speaker 5 (01:37:36):
Yeah, I think I saw for that Cowboys game? Was
it post malone? They're saying it's going to be the
halftime show. It might be post Malone or something.
Speaker 2 (01:37:44):
I'd rather have him for the Super Bowl. I would too. Yeah,
bad mad Bunny or whatever. Pissed Off Bunny, what is it?
Speaker 7 (01:37:53):
It's bad Bunny, Greg, Oh, it's not missed off I
knew something. Of course, bad Bunny is not that normal
of the name either, So that's.
Speaker 3 (01:38:01):
Not not much of a stretch.
Speaker 2 (01:38:03):
And I might have that wrong. I thought. I saw
a notification come up, and that's what alerted me to thinking, Oh,
so I wonder what are the Thanksgiving games? Oh, post Malone.
I'll give him this. I don't really care for his music.
Of course, he's got some music this country.
Speaker 7 (01:38:14):
But yeah, you're right, he's going to perform annual Thanksgiving
halftime show.
Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
Okay, But seeing him in person in an interview, first
of all, he's completely painted. You know, there's not an
inch of his skin that isn't tattooed. But he seems
like one of the nicest people. Yeah, every interview I've
ever seen, whether he's extremely nice. You're right, him in
a jelly row, very nice.
Speaker 3 (01:38:35):
That's why you don't judge a book by its cover grade.
Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
That's right. There is one tattoos between them.
Speaker 6 (01:38:40):
Two.
Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
Yeah, there is one Thanksgiving college game. It's a Navy
at Memphis. Why all over that great? You don't have
to say it like eight and two and eight and
three play yeah, but it's Navy in Memphis. I understand.
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
Good night in the Navy.
Speaker 2 (01:38:56):
We sall the seven.
Speaker 3 (01:38:57):
I played that song for the kids this past weekend.
They thought was the greatest song.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
Hey, mister Nickerbocker by Barney.
Speaker 7 (01:39:05):
By the way, the village people at the end of
their songs, they just repeat whatever the choruses, and then
the lead singer.
Speaker 2 (01:39:12):
Just like, I don't know what he does.
Speaker 3 (01:39:15):
He's like, oh, sonography, What what am I supposed to
do in a submarine?
Speaker 8 (01:39:20):
Huh?
Speaker 3 (01:39:20):
You gotta be kidding me.
Speaker 1 (01:39:22):
Here's the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (01:39:44):
Thank you so much for hanging out with us on
The Rick Burgess Show. We try our best to scheduled
appointments outside the show, but sometimes it's impossible. So Rick
is not here today, had a conflict, but Lord Willing
should be back tomorrow. So we have done a lot.
If you we missed it, make sure you check out
the archives today. It's normally available shortly after the live show.
(01:40:06):
And thank all of you for hanging out with us
again today with the Big Team and WATERBOYD. We're hanging
in there all right, So as we move on, I
did hear this, which is good news just in time
for Thanksgiving, because a lot of you it's in your life.
You fly, you have to go to different markets, or
are you're going to see family or your business. The
(01:40:27):
FAA it lifted its.
Speaker 5 (01:40:28):
Order on slashing flights, allowing commercial airlines to resume their
regular schedule, so back to full strength. I did say
there were still like three hundred delays today.
Speaker 2 (01:40:41):
This was early. They might be catching up.
Speaker 5 (01:40:43):
I'm not sure, but that's good news for those of
you that travel and fly to different destinations over the
holidays that that's back and working again.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
And they say they should be full staff.
Speaker 3 (01:40:58):
Now it's speedy.
Speaker 7 (01:40:59):
Was it you that was talking about how with your
son traveling to Japan? You got on one of those
flight tracker apps or whatever, and if you pull up
the map, how just wild it is. Because we are
a lot of airplanes, y'all. There's so many, just so
so so many real Yes, this is the live tracker
right now. Any flight you want to see, you can
(01:41:19):
see it. Look at the flight from Miami and all that.
You really think about.
Speaker 5 (01:41:26):
The you know what, the planes that are in the
air at the same time, and that's flight there's there's
a ton of different ones, but the one you're using,
the one we used, was a flight Radar twenty four.
Speaker 2 (01:41:36):
It's got an app can go to the u r
L whatever. But yeah, you can just punch in either
search by you know, you know, destination from where it
lifted off to where it's landing or the flight number,
and it pulls it up and you can track it.
But you also see everything else that's out there. And
right now Florida's Adler is hovering over the United States.
(01:41:58):
And you know what I thought was interesting? Adler as
you can, I'm out you see you see in the
UK uh and then over in Japan. How how many
are up?
Speaker 6 (01:42:08):
Not a lot?
Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
Going over Ukraine?
Speaker 2 (01:42:10):
I noticed no no there in Russia. It's it's hurting
a little bit as far as flights, but just look,
it is so quiet up there.
Speaker 5 (01:42:18):
Yeah, It's it's crazy. I could I sit there and
and every now and then I will, you know, cause
I now I try to go out and look up more. Uh, Gregor,
wish you did that since you have the perfect house
for it, because everything's so dark, you don't have the city.
Speaker 3 (01:42:32):
Yes, Greg, you have the stars at your back door.
You don't even care.
Speaker 2 (01:42:36):
Yeah. So before bed, sometimes I walk out and try
to find three planes?
Speaker 6 (01:42:40):
Uh why three?
Speaker 2 (01:42:41):
I don't know. Well, one it means I'm I'm doing
okay too is okay? I could go inside? But three
I'm like, boy if I could find three. But sometimes
I'll pull up flight tracker and then it'll tell you
where you are, and then you can click on the
plane above you and tell you where it's going. Last
night I saw, Yeah, last night, I saw Orlan go
to Dallas. It was an American airline right above going
(01:43:04):
to Dallas.
Speaker 3 (01:43:05):
He flashed. That's how Jolly's flashing airplanes?
Speaker 10 (01:43:10):
All right.
Speaker 7 (01:43:13):
I try to I have a little thing too. I
try to see a deer in the on the feeder
before I go to sleep, and shutting everything down in
the kitchen and trying to peek through the old woods
and looking see if there's a deer out on the feeder.
Speaker 3 (01:43:25):
And when I do, for some reason like makes me
feel good, I'm like.
Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
Yeah, mission, and yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
I'm lucky. In today's today's a good day.
Speaker 7 (01:43:33):
I'm like, that doesn't impact your day at all, Chris,
looking at on my property, there's some look property.
Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
Hey, spend a lot of time out on the property.
On the acreage.
Speaker 2 (01:43:48):
Aage.
Speaker 3 (01:43:48):
We have over one acre, so I can call it acreage.
Speaker 2 (01:43:51):
Well, I think so.
Speaker 5 (01:43:52):
And it's a cool little property. It's got a little
bit of everything. You got water coming through woods, you got.
Speaker 3 (01:43:59):
I bought a landfill. I think I bought a landfill.
Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
Oh, you can come across.
Speaker 3 (01:44:04):
You're finding more trash every turn. I'm like, oh, wait,
so I just bought a landfill.
Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
At the point, you know, when you buy a neighborhood
like that, people walk.
Speaker 3 (01:44:12):
People to do. That's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
That's where the teenagers went. You busted their spot. Yeah, cigarette, but.
Speaker 7 (01:44:21):
We've barrels, dirty books, dirty books, and barrels old metal,
rusted barrels. I'm like, oh, this will be easy to
get all these barrels out of here. Yeah, out of
this pit that I bought, the toxic waste land The
one you got is such a good no wonder there's
a steal.
Speaker 2 (01:44:42):
Was so easy to negotiate that product. We will sell
it for that now. Hey, I got one. I got
one he's ready to buy. He ain't seen the barrels yet. Yeah,
and he's tiny and crooked, so blame us for what happen.
He used to stink. Yeah, I think now let's make goodness.
Speaker 3 (01:44:56):
I think I bought a dump guys, straight up? Oh wow,
a car bad.
Speaker 2 (01:45:00):
Read look as though stump hole and you smell all where.
Everybody's been changing their own going out there and dumping it.
Find a good stump holding. Ain't done that? What are
they dumping?
Speaker 3 (01:45:11):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:45:12):
U l oh oh oh, I got it? Land Man
season back? Oh with uh Billy Bob. Language is rough,
but that's I don't know if anything about that. It's
a good show.
Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
I've seen clips from the show and it looks like
my kind of show. It looks great.
Speaker 2 (01:45:35):
But watch there's I started watching it. There's things without
this wife or whoever is and his daughter. There's like
why they get a hold of that?
Speaker 7 (01:45:44):
Have they.
Speaker 3 (01:45:46):
Watch Angelina and Joe Lee his ex wife? What are
you talking about?
Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Not really, I don't know if their ex wife are
separated or good storyline.
Speaker 7 (01:45:55):
Yeah, there's just necessario crazy. I understand you're trying to
like about.
Speaker 2 (01:46:01):
The rigs and how much money they're making this guy.
I like that part. I like about the money about
you can you can show how how you know his
day goes and all the drama in it without showing
some things just yeah. Yeah, his home life wrecked and
he's he's he's good. He's almost one of those people
(01:46:23):
that can cuss and it don't bother you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:26):
You're like that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:28):
Yeah, a lot of people said about you. I mean,
that's why you like he does.
Speaker 3 (01:46:34):
He was on Rogan.
Speaker 7 (01:46:35):
I started listening to some of it. I gotta circle back, okay,
but uh, yeah, he's just a cool, normal guy, you
know what I'm saying. He has always existed outside of
that weird Hollywood bubble, but he's always been in it too,
part of it.
Speaker 2 (01:46:49):
And still when I see uh carl On on sling Bladed,
I can't believe that's him. It looks nothing like him.
Speaker 3 (01:46:56):
And I forget how much of a Southern accent he
actually has from Arkansas. Yeah, yeah, I think so.
Speaker 2 (01:47:02):
You're back in the Rick and Bubba days. We interviewed him,
and uh, it was just that it was just a
quick interview, but he was he was nice and with
his music when he didn't Yeah, and and that's when
he was with Angelina and Joe Lee still too. Yeah,
during the interview the box Masters.
Speaker 3 (01:47:20):
This band is the the box Masters.
Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
That's that's a great name, the box.
Speaker 3 (01:47:25):
Like boxing or something.
Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (01:47:27):
But yeah, he's from Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Speaker 7 (01:47:30):
Yeah, he's just seems like a normal guy for for
being in Hollywood for as long as he's been.
Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
Right, So season two is out. There's another one. There
was another one on Peacock that you mentioned it it's
all her it's her fault or something pretty serious. Am
I saying it right? Is that the name of it.
It's something like her her fault, it's all her fault.
It's it's it's something about her fault.
Speaker 3 (01:47:53):
It's all her fault.
Speaker 2 (01:47:54):
You're right, right, it's good fault. That is pretty good.
It's it's about eight episodes. Her son goes missing, right
and they're trying to find him. Yes, that's pretty good.
And the drama behind finding the sun. Yeah, oh wait,
all her twists and turns. Okay, wait, just all her
fault you've metioned not it's all her fault, just all
her fault, all her fault. Okay. And you've mentioned that
the number of times, and which means that you really
(01:48:17):
like that.
Speaker 6 (01:48:18):
What is this on?
Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
That's on Peacock?
Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
Okay, have you guys heard of While we're talking about shows,
I don't. I don't watch shows. Honestly.
Speaker 7 (01:48:26):
I watched ten minutes of YouTube and I fall asleep
at the end of my day every day. I'm not
even joking.
Speaker 3 (01:48:31):
I haven't watched a series since like Breaking Bad, honestly.
Speaker 2 (01:48:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:48:36):
But there's speaking of Breaking Bad, Vince Gilligan, who was
one of the Breaking Bad guys, uh and in an
old X Files guy as well, he's got this new
show on Apple TV called Plura Bus Plural Bus.
Speaker 3 (01:48:49):
Have you guys heard of this? It is like a
yeah from the creator of Breaking Bad. Here's the picture here. Oh, okay,
have you seen that picture.
Speaker 2 (01:48:59):
I've seen the tray to this. Yes, And she's something
that she's the only one experiencing certain things or something.
Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
I don't want to wreck it it is.
Speaker 7 (01:49:10):
It's one of those shows where you go to sleep
and you're like, that was weird and you think about
it in your bag.
Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
I'm glad it was weird. I watched the trailer that
I'm not Do you want me to tell you? Yeah? Yeah,
again the break tell me all about no, not now,
don't pull the bird.
Speaker 7 (01:49:25):
Just well, if you care about this show, ready aliens
okay with straight up, straight up.
Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
But right out the gate, they're like looking through a
satellite and they're like, we got a signal, we got
a signal. And then from there it just gets bonker,
give me, we've got, we did it, we got They've
reached out. All the nerds are freaking out, and then
from there things get it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:49):
Spitty thought that's what was happening when he saw them
lives like, that's a that's a straight line of communicating
with us.
Speaker 5 (01:49:58):
You mentioned watching YouTube and falling asleep. I gues it
was it Friday evening.
Speaker 2 (01:50:02):
I saw that there was a notification that YouTube TV
and Disney reached an agreement just in time for the weekend. Yeah,
she was on the verge of changing providers.
Speaker 3 (01:50:14):
Well I'll match you up if you're not. I mean,
that's the only reason to get cable these days. Pretty
much everybody ca'm down.
Speaker 2 (01:50:19):
They fixed it. The mom couldn't watch Will of Fortune
that for now, they fixed it.
Speaker 12 (01:50:24):
Yeah, this is the Rick Burgers Show. Are you following
the Daily Archive podcast? Follow the Daily Rick Burgers Show podcast?
(01:50:49):
Now where you get podcasts and never miss a minute
of the daily show.
Speaker 2 (01:50:55):
That's right, then, Osborne, thank you so much, Speedy, Greg
and Adler. We are here today.
Speaker 3 (01:51:02):
Rick is not.
Speaker 5 (01:51:03):
He's out today, should be back tomorrow. Just had a
scheduling conflict with something he needed to take care of,
so Lord willing, he'll be back with us tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:51:12):
You know, this week for us in the state of Alabama.
Speaker 5 (01:51:16):
Now, all of you around the country, I know this
has started at different times, and for you bow hunters
and all that, you've been hard at it.
Speaker 2 (01:51:24):
But as far as.
Speaker 5 (01:51:26):
Rifle season for white tail deer hunting in the state
of Alabama, it starts this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
Yeah, and we've talked about this for years, so this
isn't new. Back in the Rick and Bubba days, we
would talk about it. The pressure that come, don't understand.
I love it now.
Speaker 5 (01:51:43):
I think I love more just being out there, being
with you guys, being just the It's so much like
going to the beach and being in that scene versus
versus actually sitting on the beach all day.
Speaker 2 (01:51:53):
You're like, I just like being down here the food
and I love going home experience.
Speaker 5 (01:51:57):
I love the idea of tracking one and trying to
pattern it, which is almost impossible, scrape lines and I'm
you know, hardwood climbing, and I.
Speaker 2 (01:52:06):
Love every bit of it. But one thing I don't
love is the pressure of going. And here it is.
It's on us again.
Speaker 5 (01:52:12):
And you know during you know, the off season, you
unless you do the turkey hunting and some of you
love that more than anything, or you know, you name
what favorite season it is. There's pressure that comes with it, like,
oh man, I need to go, or I want to go,
or especially these multi mobile apps. Now you see what's there.
Oh my goodness, look at that one we got. We
(01:52:32):
gotta get down there.
Speaker 1 (01:52:33):
There's just a lot of pressure.
Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
There is a ton of pressure. And so it begins
this coming week. Here it comes, and then by the
nd you war out. Yes, I'm with the end of
the season.
Speaker 3 (01:52:42):
I'm getting into it too.
Speaker 7 (01:52:43):
I know I joke around about having it, but it's
like I'm weirdly to that point where I'm I know,
dear like that regularly come and I've got like a
nick I've got a nicknamed.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
For one or two of them. Now your friends, Yeah,
here comes pitchfork.
Speaker 2 (01:52:59):
I can't. I hope, I hope. I'm sparky.
Speaker 3 (01:53:00):
I hope I either get him or he has a
great rut. You know what I'm saying. I hope he
has himself a great time. Whyde wide real wild?
Speaker 7 (01:53:12):
Yeah, yeah, goodness, buddy, y'all, y'all are y'all nickname guys?
I know Rick will have nicknames like Big six and
all that. It really is helpful to keep keep up with,
ye keep.
Speaker 2 (01:53:21):
Up with especially if you have multiple hunters.
Speaker 5 (01:53:23):
Y'all got to be on the same page on hey,
we're passing on this one, letting him grow, or or
he's a shooter or you.
Speaker 3 (01:53:29):
Know, you'll probably you may Yeah, you give him nicknames?
Speaker 7 (01:53:33):
Yeah, absolutely, because it is weird how they have the
territory and they'll stick to it and come back. And
I'm just learning all this, so I'm very new about this.
I called something a split time.
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
And those you're looking at have never been pressured ever, right. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
I was talking to a buddy of mine and I
called some a split time that wasn't a split time.
I was like, well, let's know what we actually know.
Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
Whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:53:53):
Yeah, it's terrible trying. I'm trying to learn. I'm aware
that I'm not smart about this.
Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Hunter's vernacular.
Speaker 6 (01:54:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:54:00):
Yeah, And you know, feeding them in your backyard is
one thing. You get to watch them and all that,
and that is cool.
Speaker 3 (01:54:05):
It's fun.
Speaker 5 (01:54:06):
But actually, like like leaving and going somewhere and hunt
hunting and all that, it's just there's a lot of
pressure behind it.
Speaker 2 (01:54:13):
Fun. I'm not complaining.
Speaker 5 (01:54:15):
I'm just saying here it comes and and to your point, Greg,
it's like college football season.
Speaker 2 (01:54:20):
Once it starts, it's over almost, so I guess we
have to enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (01:54:24):
But you've taken rivers just shooting or do you take
them hunting?
Speaker 2 (01:54:27):
No, just shooting, you know, we just go down and
teaching them how to you know, learn how to shoot
through a scope with something doesn't kick, like a twenty
two or something. Teaching them what a safety is and
you know BB guns and pellet guns and you know,
shooting targets or or whatever. You know, that's really just
more of that.
Speaker 3 (01:54:46):
Are you going to try to get them out for
take them?
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:54:48):
Probably just a set, you know, but but there's a
field that's close by at the lenoors that it's like
we can walk in, walk out, So you've got to
understand it could be a yeah, and that's okay, you know,
because it's a it's a field, we don't really go
too much. It's got tons of doze, and he's not
I don't think he's ready to do that, but I
think he's ready to go sit and watch and just
(01:55:10):
experience it, you know, so how cool it is until
it's not, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:55:14):
But I remember taking my boys. There's lots of there's
lots of stuff in my photo collection that they're asleep
on my shoulder or they're on at my feet. But
that was the only way I could go. I mean
with with Ezra and Ruby, you're at that state stage
in your life where you might have to take them.
Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
Oh I don't care if you go, honey, now what
do you doing? What are you doing with the boys?
I guess they'll be with me, honey, I'm taking them
with me, of course, because they're loud, none of them.
Speaker 5 (01:55:44):
That's that's why sometimes when they were young, I'd be like, hey,
this is a big boy hunt to my wife, which means, hey,
this is this is the guys we're going and we're
spending the night, or or this is a big boy
hunt here.
Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
Yeah, and she was always really, they'll be real loud
she was all cool it, you know, yeah, but but
it begins this weekend, y'all. I know, y'all excited, Greg,
You're always never You're really never excited. You're always like eh,
and then I get there and go, it's just fun.
It's sell the craft you got to do to get there. Yeah,
(01:56:15):
says so much like golf for you, just the thought
of playing. You're like, but then you get out region's
tradition and you're like, hey, this is the kind of neat. Yeah.
Then you talk about how much you're going to do it,
and then you never do. No, but let's climb this year.
Could you think you can still get up tree? Absolutely?
Huh sick. Yeah, we're gonna do it. Yeah, okay, we
can talk about it already. We should have had a
(01:56:36):
spot picked up and everything. Yeah, yeah, we should ask
Gary for help on that. She had done that a
few weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:56:40):
When do you guys get your license.
Speaker 5 (01:56:43):
Now before you go, Yeah, there's an app that you
can do that. You can do that in a commercial
bro online.
Speaker 3 (01:56:50):
Yeah it's an app. Now, that's so that's so nice. Yeah,
very helpful.
Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
Uh huh.
Speaker 3 (01:56:54):
Of course I got the card and it's expired.
Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
Has it really. Yeah. Yeah, I mean it's always good
to get a printed you like printed off, but then
you've got a digital copy on the app to you know,
I have a printed copy.
Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
Way easy I did. I did the app last year.
It's way easy.
Speaker 2 (01:57:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:57:09):
I appreciate them doing that, But.
Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
The only reason I bring it up is because for
a lot of you, it's the same.
Speaker 3 (01:57:14):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:57:15):
And I have friends that bow hunts, so they've been
doing it for a month. You know, they're like, yeah,
I don't really rifle hunt because sometimes you have property
that you you hunt on and and rifles aren't allowed.
Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
And there's some to be with three eight back there now,
So they've they've been like, oh no, we've been doing this.
But for a lot this is this is it's fresh,
so there's an excitement. It's game week, yeah, and which
adds the pressure. So now we all got pressure to
go getting a call you coming today? Yeah, but look,
(01:57:48):
I'm in a different time part of my life. I mean,
tell me like like heck, yeah, go oh yeah, you.
Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
Know are you guys doing that's this weekend, isn't it?
This is the staff staff hunt would be there.
Speaker 4 (01:58:00):
But I got it.
Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
I'm going to the Auburn game.
Speaker 2 (01:58:01):
Yeah, you're going to the Mercer game. Yeah, you spared
no expense on that one.
Speaker 7 (01:58:05):
Yeah, picked the most expensive game of the year, one
of the hottest stickers in town.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
Yeah, Auburn and Mercer. Auburn's years pretty much gone to
crap and Mercer. I don't know, maybe they're any good,
but you know, I will say this, Where we thought
there was no excitement for the Iron Bowl, Oklahoma beating Alabama,
that's true. Now there is a new hype for the
ironby if Alabama wins, they're in the SEC Championship, which
is a huge motivation tonight overlook Auburn. So yeah, yeah,
(01:58:32):
so he just to beat Oklahoma real bad and then
they wouldn't be paying attention when it came to Auburn.
So now they're going to be focused. Oh, yes they are.
I don't they have ways at Western Kentucky for them Alabama?
Uh No, I think it's Northern Illinois or I believe
last time I looked.
Speaker 7 (01:58:50):
I might have know you're right by the way Mercer's
nine and one. Oh yeah, I thought that I was
making a joke when I said I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (01:58:59):
I don't I don't know anything.
Speaker 2 (01:59:01):
You just know you're going with your two kids.
Speaker 3 (01:59:03):
I knew that was the cheapest game of the year
that I could get to.
Speaker 1 (01:59:06):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (01:59:21):
You better listen up, you know, and we say.
Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
As you gotta.
Speaker 1 (01:59:30):
Find broadcasting from the real world The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (01:59:44):
We sure are.
Speaker 2 (01:59:45):
We start a brand new hour together. I am Speedy
alongside Greg Burgess, Eddie van Adler. We are the good
time game with the Rick Burgess Show. Rick not here today,
He's all today.
Speaker 5 (01:59:54):
He had a schedule in conflict with an appointment he
needed to be at, so he should be act with
us tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:00:01):
Just it was just impossible. So that happens.
Speaker 5 (02:00:04):
But we will move on and cover as best we can. Uh,
and we thank you for your support. Don't forget that
number eight eight eight six Big Vox. That's eighty eight
six two four forty eight sixty nine. We could do
unscreen phone calls this hour. I don't know if that's smart.
Part of it feels like it's not. But and you
(02:00:26):
two aren't any hell, that's what I.
Speaker 3 (02:00:27):
Said to you. Greg Speedy asked me during the break,
should we do calls?
Speaker 2 (02:00:30):
I was like, yes, yeah, calls, Yeah, I mean good.
Great people are mature.
Speaker 3 (02:00:34):
The people can handle it well.
Speaker 2 (02:00:36):
Listen, thank god we say that. Let me break it down,
let me wreak it down. Look, how long we've been
doing it. We win way more than we lose. We
got I agree, I mean so I do. I don't
disagree with either one of you. Just you know, just
nerve wracking. Rick.
Speaker 3 (02:00:53):
Yeah, we all got scarred on Friday.
Speaker 5 (02:00:56):
It was a scar and it wasn't fun scarred. It
was like serious guard horrified scar. Yeah like that, that's
ridiculous kind of scarring.
Speaker 3 (02:01:04):
Of course that guy claims he wasn't trying to.
Speaker 2 (02:01:06):
Say that, right, and and you know whatever, But I
just it's got us all. That's a little worried. So
but we could do that big vox you know the
sound bad. Yeah, the the Christmas I'm talking like a
hard R on it, if you know what I'm saying,
hard R on it. Yeah, wasn't good good. You know
(02:01:26):
this is coming.
Speaker 1 (02:01:28):
All I want for Christmas is cold, hard cash.
Speaker 2 (02:01:33):
Yeah, that is coming. And I was talking with.
Speaker 5 (02:01:38):
Brett Glover, who is our I T guy for Summit Media.
Brent Brett's Brett is Brett.
Speaker 2 (02:01:45):
You've been calling it. You've been calling him.
Speaker 7 (02:01:47):
You've been calling you and Rick have been calling him
Brent for five years.
Speaker 3 (02:01:52):
Sorry, sorry, Brett, I know your name, You.
Speaker 2 (02:01:56):
Just or something else.
Speaker 6 (02:01:57):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:01:57):
He just started responding to Brent. He's like, yeah, it's up.
We were discussing, you know, this time of year. The
y'all do realize this, and but let me just refresh
the audience. If y'all y'all have forgotten, we had phone
companies that threatened to not be available to us or
our parents, our flagship station uh in the near future
(02:02:20):
after after our little holiday giveaways.
Speaker 2 (02:02:23):
Because it would shut them down. It's like affected the
nine one one center that they cover. I mean, it
was serious business.
Speaker 5 (02:02:29):
So about this time every year, we start the conversation
with Brett about having a special number for the Christmas.
Speaker 2 (02:02:38):
Giveaway, and so that's coming.
Speaker 5 (02:02:41):
Uh, but we're also going to try to involve I
had another meeting about this on Friday, text Nation maybe
involving you a little bit on options to win through
texting only.
Speaker 2 (02:02:51):
So it's going to be pretty cool. But that's coming
in a few weeks. We'll get through we'll get through Thanksgiving,
and then that's that's going to be here. Looking forward
to it. Though, you know, talking about that one time
I worked for a guy for a year who he
thought my name was Gary. Yeah. Yes, because the first
time he yes, I said, I said Greg, and I've
had to have him before I said Greg, and they okay, Gary.
(02:03:11):
I guess I say it weird. And he was the
older guy and I was young, and I was scared
of him, so I didn't tell him no different. So
I worked from about a year and the whole time
he thought my name was Gary.
Speaker 3 (02:03:20):
You correct him after a year.
Speaker 2 (02:03:22):
Yeah, they never corrected him to this day. If he's
probably going on end because he was old, then he
would he would think I was Gary. I just answered
to it.
Speaker 5 (02:03:31):
I've been called Stevie a lot, Stevie, Stevie when I booking,
guessed or so, and I'm yealing with people that have
no idea they think because I probably in their mind
they're thinking, no way, he's speedy.
Speaker 2 (02:03:41):
It's got to be Stevie. You remember the guy that
asked me that time where swift?
Speaker 6 (02:03:44):
He was?
Speaker 2 (02:03:45):
Where a little swifty? I said, who you know the
other guy?
Speaker 1 (02:03:48):
We all?
Speaker 2 (02:03:49):
I said, speedy? Oh yeah, I'm sorry swift. Speed?
Speaker 3 (02:03:52):
Oh my nome as speedy.
Speaker 2 (02:03:56):
I've answered you just just about anything. Yeah. It's now
we've all been mistaken, you know, mistaken identity is we're
another staff member that's into something. Yeah, you know, like,
oh you work for power Company. I'm like, yeah, yeah,
many years. But you know, and if it's someone I'm
gonna encounter a lot, then I might craig you.
Speaker 6 (02:04:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:04:15):
But if it's just well one all get out, just
to get through it, Gary, whatever you want to come,
they might realize that fifteen minutes down the road go
oh my gosh, I think I confused them. Yeah. Yeah,
but you know, I'm not that offended by it at all.
But anyway, that's coming. We all try. Uh that is coming.
The cash countdown is is quickly approaching it. And I
mean look, we just we had a we had a
(02:04:35):
meeting about it and we were like, I think people
just want cash and a lot of it.
Speaker 6 (02:04:40):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:04:41):
And then on the on the final day the big
year ender, we've also got a sponsor that's jumping in
to make it even even better cash and that. So
all those details are coming soon. And also the CD
the best of CD UH is UH Are you ready?
Speaker 6 (02:04:57):
Is uh?
Speaker 5 (02:04:57):
Is close to being available this week. They said that
are gonna actually bring us some hard copies. And yes,
Larry and Carolyn, I'm gonna send you one.
Speaker 2 (02:05:04):
I've told you, I've told you, I saw it. They
keep asking me how they're gonna get it, And I'm
gonna get you one because you deserve one. You've been
a big part of this year. Absolutely.
Speaker 10 (02:05:12):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:05:13):
And then it'll also be sent to the store and
will be available online through the store at Rick burgesshow
dot com to be standing by for all that. All right,
So we've been hitting a lot today.
Speaker 3 (02:05:23):
I have a story.
Speaker 2 (02:05:24):
I was over at some friend's house.
Speaker 5 (02:05:25):
It's just fun to get together and watch college football
with friends and and and hanging out. And Uh, there's
some tradition that we have with some of our closest friends.
Speaker 7 (02:05:33):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:05:34):
They're in Helena, Alabama, and so the Greens asked us
to come over. Shout out to them. They're a great host.
Speaker 6 (02:05:40):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:05:40):
I asked her if she was part elf because Oliver
Oliver Christmas is up. I got violent. I got violent.
They had wings that had Italian They had so many sweets.
I did that at the ball games Satay night up
there where they had a spread of food, hot dogs, wings,
and I'm just eating for the fact that want to eat.
(02:06:00):
I'm not hungry.
Speaker 5 (02:06:01):
Yeah, yeah, I just kept going back. You know, the
commercial break hits and you stand up, walk around and
there it is again. And we got all kinds of stuff,
got specialty cooking, oh brownie so thick you kidding? Uh,
we had all kinds of stuff and so that big,
big thanks to them. But you know, talking to them,
you hear different stories right about. Hey, this is what
(02:06:25):
I'm going through. I heard a what about the dog
story that I'm I'm thinking about, thinking about, thinking about it.
Speaker 2 (02:06:33):
I'm thinking, I'm thinking, thinking, and then correctly, so.
Speaker 3 (02:06:43):
You heard It's okay.
Speaker 2 (02:06:45):
Though we all have things that we say yeah, oh
yes we did, Yeah we do, We sure do. But hey,
it's quite a story. So it's pretty Hey talking about
mistaken identity. They want you to share this story. I
haven't gotten clean. But when do we ask for that
that's true? What's that got to do with it?
Speaker 3 (02:07:03):
Anonymous?
Speaker 2 (02:07:04):
It'll be fine if somebody that has somebody that has
two dogs and they create them and they're tiny little
things with their crates, that's what they say. Well, at night,
they create them so they don't roam the house and
do all kinds of stuff. So at night they create them.
It's a big old crate and two tiny little dogs
and so they got plenty of room and all that
where they kept waking up. Well, I'm telling it, they
kept waking up to the crate just being a mess
(02:07:28):
that the dog, one of the dogs was on up
there in age fourteen, had some problems, some health problems,
and they were waking up to just a really messed
up crate, if you know what I mean. So they
were more like a pan.
Speaker 3 (02:07:42):
They were almost like in a pen together, right, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:07:45):
Yeah, just put them both in there.
Speaker 3 (02:07:47):
They're tiny.
Speaker 2 (02:07:48):
They got a little dog bed in there, and they
just they just have the time of their life.
Speaker 13 (02:07:51):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:07:51):
Some of these big large, extra large crates they're huge. Yeah,
and so for a tiny dog there, that's just two
of them in there. That's where they sleep. So hey,
it's bedtime, they go to the great you know.
Speaker 3 (02:08:00):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:08:01):
And they just would wake up and it was just
that'd be just all kinds of stuff in there and
just throw up and just they yeah and uh uh.
Speaker 5 (02:08:12):
They started working with a vet uh to try to
figure out and diagnose the fourteen year old dog of
what in the world is going on with this dog,
you know, took it to the vet multiple times blood work,
and the determination was we're about to have maybe put
the dog down. Wow, and I mean that was that's
a hard discussion too.
Speaker 6 (02:08:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:08:30):
I mean they love this dog, had it for a
long time.
Speaker 3 (02:08:32):
But he was old and it was you know, throwing
up and pooping and.
Speaker 2 (02:08:34):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, that's right.
Speaker 5 (02:08:39):
Well, they had worked with a vet to possibly live
and schedule a time a day of hey, this is
when we might have to put the dog down.
Speaker 2 (02:08:46):
This is sad and everything.
Speaker 5 (02:08:48):
But she was like, wow, you know, I'm gonna put
them in different crates because it's not fair to the
other dog to have to live all that every night.
Speaker 2 (02:08:56):
So put them in.
Speaker 5 (02:08:57):
Different crates and woke up the next morning and the
crate with the fourteen year old dog as clean as
a whistle.
Speaker 2 (02:09:03):
But the other crate is a mess. So it's the
younger one. It's the younger one. Oh and they they
were graduling the other one. Yes, oh my goodness, but
that falls under He's like, what did I do? He look,
I know I'm old, so now I'm good. Now starts
the blood work of the young one.
Speaker 3 (02:09:22):
Yeah, what's going on with you?
Speaker 7 (02:09:24):
You know?
Speaker 2 (02:09:25):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (02:09:25):
But the vans scratching their head too, of like, man,
I don't know what's happening, but this poor little dog
is struggling. You don't need to because that dog's always
the handle. So that's sure, that's what they assumed. Is well,
bless his heart.
Speaker 2 (02:09:37):
He's so old. That's you know, he didn't need to
live this kind of life. He's in misery.
Speaker 5 (02:09:42):
Yeah, so look, but it's not fair to this young one.
Let's separate them and get him over here. He didn't
need to live through this every night. And then come
to find out it was.
Speaker 2 (02:09:51):
The young one.
Speaker 3 (02:09:52):
Wow, at least they caught it, you know, if the dog.
Can you imagine going home with one dog and then
next morning the one dog makes the mistake.
Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
Yeah, yeah, makes the mess. I gotta ask a questions,
y'all tell it if that, if you gave, If you
get it wrong, no, I go here, everything round. It's
playing like, wow, that might be the me Montie though it.
Speaker 3 (02:10:13):
Yeah, the old dogs like it war for me.
Speaker 1 (02:10:18):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 5 (02:10:34):
Thank you so much for tuning into The Rick Burgess Show.

we thank you for being with us. This portion of
the program is sponsored by chef i q dot com.
Chef i q dot com just in time for the holidays.
(02:10:56):
Uh and this product makes a great gift too, if
if you want to share this with someone is a gift,
it's a great idea. Look, we've all had Thanksgiving meals
gone wrong. You've destroyed the turkey, it's all dried out.
It's just a terrible feeling in cooking for Thanksgiving. It's
high stakes. And if it's one dried turkey from being ruined,
(02:11:20):
if you know what I mean. That's why we love
chef i q. Since this wireless cooking thermometer takes the
guesswork out of the holiday cooking. The USDA says turkey's
got a hit about one hundred and sixty five degrees
fahrenheit to be safe. Well, guess what, chef iq ensures
you hit that perfect temperature every time, whether you're roasting, grilling,
(02:11:41):
maybe you're searing, pan seering, even smoking the turkey. It's
it's got you covered. It couldn't be easier either, No more.
Speaker 2 (02:11:49):
You remember how many times you had to open the oven,
loot go, just relax, just sit back, relax, let chef iq.
The chefs call you when it's time to flip or
take it off the heat, or even how long it
is to rest, and just it just makes it easy
where you can enjoy the holidays. Basically, it's like having
a personal chef watching the stove so you can hang
(02:12:11):
with your guest. No more oven peeking. As I said,
just a perfect cooked meal every single time. It works
for steaks, chicken, fish, whatever you're cooking too. As a
show fan, you get thirty percent off today, thirty percent
off chef iq dot com promo code big vox b
I g vox.
Speaker 5 (02:12:33):
That's chefiq dot com promo code big vox and you're
gonna save thirty percent. Now's the time you can get
a link at Rick burgesshow dot com under sponsors too.
So jump on this today, folks, and gets the holidays
taken care of really nice, really nice, especially if you're
not too sure either or even if you're you know.
Speaker 2 (02:12:52):
A veteran and you're like, I got this, it's still
why not make things easier. So why knock it out?
Why check it out? That chef i Q do it
all right? The boys of intere they they're they're making
me entertain something. And that is unscreenphone call. Next second, yes, uh,
and that number is eight eight eight six Big Vox,
eight eight eight the number six Big Vox. That's eight
(02:13:12):
eight eight six two four forty eight sixty nine. We uh,
we stopped unscreen phone calls on Friday due to a
call that got on air that we had to dump.
Uh and still some of you heard it, those of
you that have YouTube, and so we all got to
act right, Yeah, I mean, just you know, we have fun.
Speaker 12 (02:13:31):
Greg.
Speaker 2 (02:13:32):
I'm actually gonna give you the floor. Could you talk
to your manions just for a second. Look, there's boundaries
kind of you know, you don't need to go nowhere.
I mean, you don't need to say something you're gonna
get dumb.
Speaker 3 (02:13:42):
Say kind of right, there's definitely boundaries. Right, here's what
I'm asking kind of Yes.
Speaker 2 (02:13:48):
I'm asking you to talk to your your still yeah,
you know, kind of whether there's something, don't cross the line.
I mean, if you know you're gonna get dumped, you know,
I think take it second thought.
Speaker 3 (02:14:00):
Maybe just like an interesting fact or like an encourage.
Speaker 2 (02:14:04):
Don't make them boring about how to fix a lawnmore
or something like that. Yes, that's good, so you got
you got so just because they're not over the top,
you think they'll be boring. No, but we can. But
if we start getting a lot of boring ones. To me,
I'm just as offended by that as I am somebody. Well,
there's there's only edge funny, and then there's only edge disgusting.
(02:14:27):
Like what happened, Fay, That was disgusting. Look at what
happened up to this point. The majority of people are
dead on. Well you're sure we're playing the numbers. I mean,
make sure you don't talk to our team before kickoff. Well,
I'm just saying, I mean, go out there, go too far.
You ain't gonna have everybody's gonna talk about stuff. It's
not funny, y'all play hard. I mean, if you want
to tell you this cold front is moving, Sure is
(02:14:49):
hurting my bones and my joints. Get it, and you
put w D fourty on them and they're better.
Speaker 1 (02:14:55):
You know, we don't want that.
Speaker 3 (02:14:56):
That's interesting.
Speaker 9 (02:14:57):
No, it's not.
Speaker 5 (02:14:58):
This is our house nobody comes into our house and
messages with us. I mean most of the time they don't.
I mean, so sometimes they'll go out and to kind
of defend. I mean, if you want to. I mean,
I just don't want to come down and.
Speaker 2 (02:15:11):
Boring. Yeah, I got you, I got you.
Speaker 3 (02:15:14):
Nobody from playing it jokes, nobody.
Speaker 2 (02:15:16):
You know I've lost all this weight because I cut
out bread. I was just gonna say, you know, you
don't want to know that. So you're saying there's there's
cussing in vulgar and I don't know either.
Speaker 9 (02:15:25):
Don't do that.
Speaker 2 (02:15:25):
But you think if we don't do that, it's boring. No,
but it can be okay if you if your people,
you scare them people, if you scare them too much,
it can be or it could go the complete oppos
and they crank it up. There's really a no win here.
Bottom line is, I'm going by the numbers we've had
this year. By a large margin. It's been stuff that
you wouldn't dump. Okay, we've only dumped. I'll be honest.
(02:15:49):
I bet we've dumped ten times in a year. And
you need to see a doctor.
Speaker 3 (02:15:53):
I'm just telling you, here's a good rule of some
from not counting the dumps.
Speaker 2 (02:15:58):
You shouldn't have done.
Speaker 7 (02:16:00):
If people don't know what you're talking about, it sounds
like you're talking about it sounds like you need some help.
Dump is when you cut out the last five ten
seconds of what happened on the air so that doesn't
go out on the air.
Speaker 3 (02:16:09):
That's what the dump is.
Speaker 2 (02:16:10):
And the fact now that it doesn't cover everything, you
might as well just let it go out.
Speaker 3 (02:16:14):
That's but that's not what the FCC says at all.
Right again, disagree with you.
Speaker 2 (02:16:18):
This is not helping.
Speaker 4 (02:16:20):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (02:16:20):
We got a good rule of thumb from the textures
of them. From the textures. If you wouldn't say it
in front of your grandma, don't say.
Speaker 2 (02:16:28):
Your mother grandmother. That's that's too much. Just say you
want to stand in front of your mother.
Speaker 3 (02:16:32):
Not really trying to hear speedy, I'm sorry, I do
trying to say the show.
Speaker 2 (02:16:36):
You're trying to mess it up.
Speaker 3 (02:16:37):
Okay, Well, my grandma's got a great sense of humor.
Speaker 5 (02:16:40):
I'm gonna play another angle here, y'all. Don't get us
in trouble, you know, I mean great rule.
Speaker 2 (02:16:45):
Yes, I don't want Rick coming back to marrowing, what'd
y'all do yeah, just don't don't.
Speaker 5 (02:16:50):
Can we all just have fun? As I tell my
boys when they would go do something, Hey, I don't
want any drama. Well in your business, I don't want
no drama. Don't be follow me with drama. Just good,
Just go have fun, good gracious, ain't gotta be drama.
Can we just do a phone savement?
Speaker 2 (02:17:06):
We know drama. We're trying it next ye, here we go.
You're gonna have that one. It's eight eight eight actually sorry,
eight eight eight six, big box. We're gonna have that
one that comes indeed me fine. The old Greg Burgess
show over there, point right, and that guy claims he
(02:17:27):
didn't say what we thought he did. He does claim
that we heard it, though, Yeah, but it really didn't
fit his narrative. It didn't that Could it be a
misspeaker what I'm saying, cut out or something and it
only picked up Even that word doesn't fit in the
story you was telling. Well, you've done a great job, buddy.
Speaker 3 (02:17:47):
Fun See how that could have happened on accident?
Speaker 7 (02:17:50):
Guys, that's like me accidentally saying rhinoceros or something like it.
Speaker 3 (02:17:53):
Just I don't understand how that gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (02:17:56):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (02:18:00):
On Oh Boy, here we go.
Speaker 5 (02:18:18):
We appreciate you being with us. It's the Rick Burgess Show. Speedy,
Greg and Adler here today. Rick not here with us today.
Speaker 2 (02:18:26):
Had an appointment that we try to keep outside the show,
but it was impossible for him to keep it outside
the show today, so he's doing that.
Speaker 5 (02:18:35):
Should be back tomorrow and we are hanging out together.
If you've missed any of the show, go back, check
out the archives today. They're normally ready shortly after the
live show. Same way on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (02:18:46):
It's all there for you.
Speaker 5 (02:18:47):
Adler does a great job of preparing that, and here
it is. It's the moment that we've been waiting on
eight eight eighty six, big vox unscreen phone calls. I
appreciate y'all being kind because I know it's not the
same when Rick's not here. We're trying to piece it
and hold it together. A lot of buttons to push
over here, and when you don't do it every day,
(02:19:08):
you don't have that muscle memory. So my eyes are
trying to find everything I need to click on here.
You do realize, so think about this. This actually came
up in the kickoff, hoarm sure it. This is this
exact same down scream phone call came and you said, Hey,
one day you told us, let's just try it.
Speaker 2 (02:19:24):
Let's try it now we've moved it to the big show.
And it does help because with the staff of four
and no enterns, if you're in there trying to screen
phone calls, it pulls somebody out of the studio. And
then plus over the years of screening, people just lie
to you about what they want to talk about, and
then they come on and talk about something. So it's
almost the same time.
Speaker 5 (02:19:42):
But we appreciate y'all and your support of the show
as always, but just play nice, please eight eight eight
six Big Vox eight eight eight six two four forty
eight sixty nine. Just a little bit of anks after
what happened late last week. But I know that was
just a one time. Let's go unscreened phone calls. You're
on the r Birds show, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (02:20:02):
Hey, I'm wondering when do y'all usually try to schedule
your doctor's appointments.
Speaker 2 (02:20:09):
Now? Sometimes sometimes you can't help it.
Speaker 5 (02:20:11):
Sometimes if you're seeing a specialist or you're seeing someone
that only does things at a certain time, it's you're
really subject to. Yeah, and I think I believe, uh,
the history of the show, we do pretty good.
Speaker 2 (02:20:25):
Of trying our best to schedule outside the show, but
sometimes it's impossible. Like Mom, I'll take Mom sometimes and
she always tries to get them in the afternoyeah. Sometimes
they can't do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sure all
of y'all understand that.
Speaker 5 (02:20:36):
Eight eight eight eight six Big vox go ahead, you're
on on screen phone calls what's up?
Speaker 1 (02:20:42):
Team?
Speaker 2 (02:20:42):
Hey, what's usaid?
Speaker 4 (02:20:45):
This is sib mcfish or YouTube.
Speaker 2 (02:20:48):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (02:20:51):
The other day there was a caller called in about
his grandmother dipping snuff. That reminds me of my great
grandmother god rest. So she's been gone thirty years now,
but she would sit in her rocking chair and watch
her stories while she was dipping that red seal snuff. Yeah,
I remember that red sail. I'm a little yeah. Come
(02:21:12):
in those little crystal cups, the little little red and
orange ones, and uh, after she's done dipping the snuff
out of it, of course she would wash them out
and that was her drink cups we get out. Yeah,
I mean that was washed.
Speaker 2 (02:21:29):
I mean yeah, yeah, but she.
Speaker 4 (02:21:32):
She had a golden spatoon by her seat. She had
watch her stories and dipper snuff.
Speaker 2 (02:21:39):
My great grandmother was like the thanks Bud. She would
and she had a little silver spoon that she would
dip it in and put it on in her lip.
Is that wasn't boring? No, I'd say, I like that. Okay,
I love a good snuff story.
Speaker 3 (02:21:52):
Who doesn't love that grandma's dipping?
Speaker 5 (02:21:54):
Oh man, they did eighty eight six Big Voxu're on
ice screen phone calls.
Speaker 6 (02:21:58):
Go ahead about fellows with your boy tail city Tom?
Speaker 2 (02:22:04):
You better watch Tom? Yeah, what's up?
Speaker 7 (02:22:07):
You know?
Speaker 2 (02:22:07):
I call big Daddy's out of the house.
Speaker 4 (02:22:12):
Here.
Speaker 2 (02:22:12):
You're still pumping. You're still pumping that iron with.
Speaker 3 (02:22:16):
Getting better, doing a little bit better shirt.
Speaker 6 (02:22:19):
I gotta get that you do.
Speaker 2 (02:22:21):
That's right now.
Speaker 6 (02:22:21):
If you do. I want to give you an update
on the bumps.
Speaker 3 (02:22:26):
The skin cancer down.
Speaker 2 (02:22:28):
Hey, yeah, job bud, that's awesome. See you look Greg
getting skin taking care of Yeah, cut off me the
other day. Yeah, healing up. Yeah, of corse, you got
a scar, but hey, you read to have a scar
than skin can. Yes, I would good for.
Speaker 3 (02:22:43):
You staying on top of it.
Speaker 5 (02:22:45):
Yep u eight eight eight six big vox unscreen phone calls,
you're live, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (02:22:51):
I got sorry, phone now the radio down? On screen
phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 9 (02:22:57):
Hey, So let's how y'all doing this? Smart? Good, good man.
I'm glad to hear it. Hey, just a little word
for the listeners. And I understand y'all trying to do
this on y'all's own today. If it ain't good for
your children, are your grandchildren, are your grandmother? Just be respectful, man.
Speaker 3 (02:23:14):
I agree with that guy.
Speaker 2 (02:23:16):
Thank you, buddy, I appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (02:23:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:23:18):
I told a good joke to my grandkids the other day.
I'm Joe.
Speaker 5 (02:23:23):
That's like, uh eight eight eighty six, big vox on
screen phone calls, go ahead, what.
Speaker 2 (02:23:32):
It feel good?
Speaker 9 (02:23:33):
I don't know what that was.
Speaker 2 (02:23:34):
I don't know either. Sound like an alien. Uh hey,
on screen phone calls, you're.
Speaker 6 (02:23:38):
Live, go ahead, Good morning things. What's up?
Speaker 3 (02:23:43):
Earl ah?
Speaker 6 (02:23:44):
Just the same old things, being the rules and breaking hearts,
grig this kind of being in your wheelhouse. I don't
want to be born speaking no drama. Okay, all right,
back to back to the football games with these people
are faking the injuries, you know, they're trying to take
that out Yeah, Well, they make a rule that says
if they if they go down with the injury, they
(02:24:04):
can't go back in the ball game to the next
possession or the change moved or something like that. If
they're enough to stop the game, they can't go to
the ball changes possessions or maybe a new set of
down for something.
Speaker 2 (02:24:19):
You would think if they ever really hurt, that would
be a no brainer out that long anyway, And we
named it the Earl rule.
Speaker 5 (02:24:24):
Earl the rule of Earl rule, the rule of Earl.
It is, Yeah, this flopping down and what do you
get fined? I like it when the school get fined
what fifty grand I think if it's I.
Speaker 2 (02:24:34):
Like when they show the replay and they just basically
sit down.
Speaker 5 (02:24:37):
Like they're up, and they go, oh, is it after
the ball is placed? Like and then the I can't
remember either, but you can be too late.
Speaker 2 (02:24:46):
Yeah, they's come up with. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:24:49):
The SEC has a first offense is fifty thousand dollars,
The second offense is one hundred thousand dollars and a
public reprimand as well as the first offense.
Speaker 3 (02:24:58):
Third offense is a.
Speaker 7 (02:24:59):
One game suspension and for the head coach and potential
penalties for other staff and players.
Speaker 2 (02:25:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:25:04):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (02:25:05):
Uh someone texted that I look like I'm drawing up tighter,
and you know what I am, because on screen phone
calls makes me nervous. I'm so nervous. So far, so good.
Uh boy, just mojodas. Let's go to the next phone call.
Eight eight eight six, big box? What's up? On screen
phone calls? You're live?
Speaker 6 (02:25:25):
What up?
Speaker 2 (02:25:25):
Homies? What's Upbudy?
Speaker 3 (02:25:27):
I was watching the show Friday.
Speaker 14 (02:25:28):
I gotta tell you, as a black man that stuff
don't bother them.
Speaker 3 (02:25:31):
Okay, okay, buddy, we could tell you weren't black.
Speaker 6 (02:25:35):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 7 (02:25:36):
I'm not trying to be rude, but you sounded like
a honkey if I've ever heard one.
Speaker 3 (02:25:41):
Okay, buddy, you laughing nervous? Yeah, I think Speedy needs
to go to the mathroom now.
Speaker 2 (02:25:47):
Yeah, I know you got it. You got it, You
got it. It's us. It's not me. It's us. It's us.
It's not Speedy. You're doing good with it.
Speaker 10 (02:25:58):
You can do it.
Speaker 2 (02:25:59):
Yeah, you got your hand on the button. Come on,
on screen phone calls, you're live.
Speaker 11 (02:26:03):
Go ahead, Hey, morning, you guys like you kick off
our days.
Speaker 2 (02:26:09):
Hello Tom what's up, buddy?
Speaker 11 (02:26:12):
You know, Uh, go back to that flight Radar twenty
four app our sun flies all the time domestic. Yes,
you can like text people while they're flying.
Speaker 6 (02:26:21):
Did you know that I did not.
Speaker 3 (02:26:24):
Over that through the app. You're saying through the app
you text Now it.
Speaker 11 (02:26:28):
Has nothing to do with the app. You can you know,
you can't call people, but you can actually text back
and forth while they're in the air. That's pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (02:26:35):
That is that is pretty cool. Thanks Tom, appreciate you, bud.
I've been around for a long time. Thank you for
your support.
Speaker 15 (02:26:40):
Uh, big box, nothing, I asked, go ahead, grief, say
good grief?
Speaker 2 (02:26:54):
He said good. I was offended that Tom was saying
you could take somebody on the plane. M offend, he.
Speaker 3 (02:27:00):
Told me he told that.
Speaker 2 (02:27:03):
Legitimately, asking Uh, he said, big box, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (02:27:08):
Hey, it was me.
Speaker 16 (02:27:09):
Got cut off a wall ago, I said, why got
a deer hunt for speedy? If you interested, Greg, I
think I am definitely from Burgess descent, so I know
we're probably ken just by the way you act, because I.
Speaker 2 (02:27:21):
Act very very similar, so well behaved.
Speaker 16 (02:27:24):
Anytime idler wants to roll, I can set that up.
Speaker 3 (02:27:27):
And I got one more.
Speaker 6 (02:27:30):
Third day came to run me and love you guys.
Speaker 2 (02:27:36):
Guy, Yeah, you know, good buddy.
Speaker 7 (02:27:38):
Maybe that guy really didn't say that last week because
we thought he was That wasn't him. But that guy's
earlier phone call sounded like an alien ship. We didn't
know what he was doing, and so his phone did
sound weird. Maybe last week was just a big.
Speaker 2 (02:27:51):
Maybe so maybe so he said he's got a deer
hunt lined up from me. Yes, he got.
Speaker 3 (02:28:00):
I didn't like the sound of that of them.
Speaker 2 (02:28:02):
I wasn't sure about so you and I. That was
kind of an awkward moment that the show ended last week.
It was I forgot that happened.
Speaker 3 (02:28:10):
Yeah, he called me to the face.
Speaker 2 (02:28:15):
I wasn't sure.
Speaker 3 (02:28:16):
I didn't know you're doing like Hip Thrusts was.
Speaker 2 (02:28:19):
I don't know what that movie.
Speaker 3 (02:28:20):
It was uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 (02:28:23):
He must be in his guard. What do you mean
I did hip thrust you were?
Speaker 3 (02:28:26):
That's what I mean.
Speaker 2 (02:28:28):
When I had you down, Yes, I couldn't let you up. Well,
you know, it's all starts in the hips. You look nominated.
Speaker 3 (02:28:35):
Power starts in the hips, but power starts with the hit.
Speaker 2 (02:28:38):
Oh yeah, everybody knows that. Everybody, Yeah, all right, you okay,
we did good. We survived. Hey, I want to thank
you audience. You might have earned another one. Yep. See
I told you the majority of the people going act right. Yeah,
that's great, Thank you so much.
Speaker 6 (02:28:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:28:53):
I wasn't sure what you needed from the adlert so
I wasn't sure and that the hip thing is really
was just to keep you.
Speaker 2 (02:29:00):
I didn't know if you wanted to be penned or what.
Speaker 3 (02:29:02):
Well, so much pelvic motion was.
Speaker 2 (02:29:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:29:07):
Yeah, the replay was shocking.
Speaker 1 (02:29:09):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (02:29:32):
Nine minutes until top of the hour. It's the Rick
Burgess Show. Thank you so much for being with us.
Eight eight eighty six, Big Box.
Speaker 5 (02:29:38):
We got through our first unscreened phone call segment of
the day. It was dangerous ten minutes in radio. All right,
and y'all all played nice and we appreciate it. I
apologize for my nervousness. I just I was on age
after what has happened in the last few times. It
seems like within the last two weeks, being the person
(02:29:58):
that sits where you are, Greg and Rick's normally here,
Rick off today.
Speaker 2 (02:30:01):
Should be back tomorrow.
Speaker 11 (02:30:04):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:30:04):
I see how many times we've had to dump folks
and I think in the last maybe two to three
weeks we've had we've had three or four dumps. It's uh,
it's just it's been elevated. So but thank you all
of you. Y'all, y'all did well.
Speaker 3 (02:30:16):
That's not that's it's not enough dumps.
Speaker 6 (02:30:18):
Really.
Speaker 2 (02:30:19):
Yeah, we've explained this, but what you're hearing is ten
seconds behind. What's really we're ten seconds ahead of you.
And so we have that buffer. From most platforms, I
know YouTube is the exception. Uh, where we can we
can we can take out the audio if someone calls
in and uh, it's like it just got gone. Uh,
(02:30:40):
and so that's called a dump, like dumping, like we're
dumping the call dumping and then then then dumping the air.
Speaker 1 (02:30:46):
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (02:30:47):
So this one here is intriguing because I know Greg
would love it. It's number three on on the list
Todayler that you provided us, and I'm just gonna read
it says it's an article. It says woman with air
condition has armpits that leak milk. Why did you Why
did you pick this story?
Speaker 5 (02:31:08):
Is that not intriguing to you? No, it's not as gross. Well,
I'll give you that, but I mean an armpit that
leaks milk? Is that is that a misprint or is
that accurate?
Speaker 13 (02:31:19):
Real?
Speaker 2 (02:31:19):
Is this? Is it in a fake news story?
Speaker 3 (02:31:22):
No, this was sent to me by a listener, and
it goes to Gizmodo, which is a real website.
Speaker 2 (02:31:29):
Okay, I remember getting.
Speaker 3 (02:31:30):
Like tech updates from them, I think. But there's this
woman with a rare condition that has armpits that leak milk.
Speaker 7 (02:31:38):
This unusual case doctors are finding it's called ec topic
breast tissue.
Speaker 2 (02:31:45):
Y'all picked this story in the arm pit. Thanks. I
didn't know that he was gonna say that.
Speaker 3 (02:31:49):
This Filipino woman. Uh and by the way, it impacts
three percent of women what and one percent of men
have it?
Speaker 2 (02:31:59):
When you have something weird going on one time, well
I didn't have. You had.
Speaker 3 (02:32:04):
I did not have.
Speaker 7 (02:32:06):
We had its sponsorship deal for yeah, sweating. It was
excessive sweating, not milk milky milky sweat, wasn't it.
Speaker 3 (02:32:16):
I don't have milky sweat? But is this what she has?
Speaker 11 (02:32:20):
This?
Speaker 2 (02:32:21):
So she sweats but instead of you think that the
procedure you have would help her.
Speaker 3 (02:32:25):
So she's got breast tissue in in her in her armpits.
Speaker 2 (02:32:29):
Good gracious thank you, buddy. I didn't. I'm sorry about that. Greg.
That's on you. Yeah, And because you know he's a
silent sufferer, he knows about it. I knew.
Speaker 5 (02:32:41):
We've done a lot of things for for sponsors, and
if we were just being honest, we did it more for.
Speaker 2 (02:32:46):
The talent fee. That's what I did. Absolutely, I have
had thing. Look I got buried alive. You did, which
is I wouldn't have done. Yeah, I'm riding the bull.
I'll do I've done it, but I'm not letting you
bury me. No, especially for what to days.
Speaker 3 (02:33:00):
Oh, here's a picture of it.
Speaker 2 (02:33:01):
If you're bearing me for twenty minutes, maybe, Oh good night,
she got white. Take that down.
Speaker 3 (02:33:06):
She's got white drops in her arm pit. Please take
that down.
Speaker 2 (02:33:08):
She's got what Please take that down.
Speaker 3 (02:33:10):
You can see it.
Speaker 2 (02:33:11):
Thank you, Bud Adler. We can move on from there.
He had it. Helps with that for under arm sweating,
Uh to where I think, what? What? What did your
procedure do?
Speaker 3 (02:33:23):
It was they zapped me with a microwave. Basically it felt.
Speaker 2 (02:33:27):
Real good too, So your arms quit sweating after that, and.
Speaker 7 (02:33:29):
I sweat less for I think for a couple of years.
But I think I'm back to normal now, but I
can't bring the arms down all the way now.
Speaker 2 (02:33:35):
I will say this, before you had that and this,
and I'm not being funny. You would have pittstains sometimes.
I was hot, but you had. I haven't seen you
with pittstains in years.
Speaker 3 (02:33:42):
I think I was just running hot, you know that
was like young, but was full of hope, new to
the show, like my spirit.
Speaker 6 (02:33:52):
Yeah, you.
Speaker 2 (02:33:54):
Could have.
Speaker 7 (02:33:55):
And I was like running hot and excited about life.
You know, it's full of life, you enjoy. You were,
and there was a spark in me, and I think
that's why I was sweating so much in the early days.
Speaker 2 (02:34:04):
Flame. We completely distinguished, maybe.
Speaker 3 (02:34:06):
Because I have a rare condition that my armpits leaked milk.
Speaker 6 (02:34:09):
Like this lady.
Speaker 2 (02:34:10):
So you had that, Greg, you had liposuction.
Speaker 3 (02:34:13):
Greg, you also have web toes.
Speaker 2 (02:34:14):
Speak speaking of weird things that people have, Well, that's
just something I have.
Speaker 3 (02:34:18):
I know I'm making.
Speaker 2 (02:34:21):
Yours. I mean, if we're comparing, I mean, I'd rather
have a couple of toes growing together opposed to that.
Speaker 3 (02:34:27):
Greg.
Speaker 7 (02:34:28):
How about Okay, that number that I had with people
having milk in their armpits.
Speaker 3 (02:34:33):
That can't be right.
Speaker 7 (02:34:33):
That's what the article is coming. But yeah, one percent
is actually very common, one in one hundred. But because
I'm looking at web toes and web toes only occur
in one in every two thousand people, I don't.
Speaker 3 (02:34:49):
I got to check that gizmoto article again, reputable source,
giz Moto.
Speaker 2 (02:34:54):
Do compete swimming with that. I know I should have
had it. They would probably ban me unless they examine
your toes. Yeah, I mean, because you can't see it
until you start pulling.
Speaker 7 (02:35:03):
Them apart and you're like, wow, it'd be you and
Leah Thomas on the on the pedestal, people like, hey
they cheated.
Speaker 3 (02:35:09):
He's got web toes and he's.
Speaker 2 (02:35:10):
Got a rudder. But Greg, I want you being a
phenom looking just the way you are, just tearing the water,
not some you know, yes, representing the USA and the Olympics. Yeah,
just to find a case swimmer, I mean, not competitive.
I didn't, but I mean, but I got to give
you something you've done. Spray tanning for the show. Yeah,
(02:35:31):
that was terrible that spring cold. Yeah it looked fine
though afterwards I did. But this LiPo suction was a
little bit more serious than that. On second thought, might
I should have reconsidered it because I mean it worked
out fine, but man, that's quite a procedure. Yeah there
(02:35:52):
you will think. So don't got that washboard? Can you
tell could you tell the difference? Oh yeah yeah, oh absolutely,
just took a bunch of all that fat out. Yeah
it's gone forever. She said, that's what they say. Can
you can you eat it back into You kind.
Speaker 7 (02:36:11):
Of messed it up a little bit. I mean you
bounced back now. But there was post life.
Speaker 2 (02:36:17):
Oh where you absolutely that the people that were doing
it and told me not tell her about I had
it right. Yeah, you thought you had a haul pass
to eating.
Speaker 9 (02:36:28):
I know, you know.
Speaker 7 (02:36:31):
You remember when Tyler, Tyler, the angry cyclist boy I
can't say that, uh called in and gave you crap
for that.
Speaker 3 (02:36:37):
He was like, gragg you messed up your life out,
you reversed your life out rags funny.
Speaker 2 (02:36:42):
We had heard from him and we haven't.
Speaker 3 (02:36:44):
I wonder if he's doing okay.
Speaker 6 (02:36:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:36:48):
Jed done a lot. This all started with milk and
or pits. Remember when him and Mart were going to wrestle.
That was when the sports are we get a ring
up in the studio. Let him wrestle. Of course Mark
thought it was real, Oh, so real, so real he was.
Speaker 6 (02:37:06):
It was so he was.
Speaker 2 (02:37:07):
We kept telling him that time of talking trash. We
make stuff up, and I'll tell you what he about
a hunch.
Speaker 3 (02:37:16):
I'm kidding all right, Oh boy, how old were you
when you learned to swim my way?
Speaker 2 (02:37:24):
I don't remember, Okay, I don't swim pretty young young.
I was young, too, real young, maybe four. You'll remember
my story about how it started. No, he's out, had
the alligator charge game and I got knocked into the water.
Speaker 1 (02:37:41):
He was the week Burger show. He will likely be
(02:38:03):
the new CEO of Cracker Barrel Rick Burchess.
Speaker 2 (02:38:09):
Possibly they seem to have corrected the ship, but we'll see.
I am speedy alongside Greg Burgess and Eddie Van Adler,
Chris Adler.
Speaker 5 (02:38:20):
We are here today. Rick is not here today. He
had an appointment he could not avoid. We try, but
sometimes it's impossible. They have to be morning appointments. And
so he is there, should be back tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:38:32):
And so it's just us. And if you've missed any
of the show today, I go back and check it
out on the archives. They are normally available after the
live show YouTube normally is available as well. You can
that's there for you. Just search Rick Burgess Show on YouTube.
It pops up and there's the channel. A lot going
on in Adler. You said that on Friday after the
(02:38:56):
live show, you made like.
Speaker 5 (02:38:59):
The first two hundred days of the Rick Burgess Show
a little highlight video that that that really was cool.
I was seeing I couldn't hear it, but I was
seeing some of it in the break you were playing it.
Speaker 7 (02:39:09):
Yes, sir, and man, it is so difficult to get
those little things together, with all those little moments from
the I did one for the first fifty episodes of
the first one hundred episodes, and I meant to do
one for one fifty and the next thing I knew
we're at two hundred. Yeah, as I'm piecing it together,
so I'm like, well, I guess I'll just do a
two hundred episode, all right. But I got that out
and it is just it's it's a hoot and doing
(02:39:29):
a show with you guys. I really have a good
time with y'all.
Speaker 2 (02:39:31):
Ye single day. Well, like I said, I could just
I could just see it. It was visual. I couldn't
hear it, but I was like, Wow, we've we've done
a lot. We have fun. I was looking and the
audio only version of that is the best of CD.
Are you ready?
Speaker 5 (02:39:46):
The Rick Burgess Show Best of twenty twenty five and
it's we should have it in house this week and
these close. Then it'll be sent to the store just
in time for Thanksgiving and your all you shopping and
getting ready for the holidays. So one of the things
one of things in house and Steve and that all
(02:40:06):
those guys, they do such a great job. And Rick
was talking about, we're gonna get some here, some hard
copies and put some on the wheel.
Speaker 7 (02:40:12):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:40:12):
And so we'll add that to all the wheel and
all the fun just so maybe some of the box
seats can spend and win a CD. Who knows, but
that's gonna that's that's gonna be fun. So we've got
a lot going on.
Speaker 6 (02:40:23):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:40:23):
And you know, one guy we were talking earlier, if
you were talking about missing the show, actually we talked
about this if you missed it, about deer hunting in
the state of Alabama. Rifle season for white tail deer
is opening up this weekend. I know in different parts
of the country, it's different weeks or whatever.
Speaker 2 (02:40:40):
But for us it's real.
Speaker 5 (02:40:42):
And this emailer here said talking about pressure, and we
do have it pretty good. I mean if you if
you are a bow hunter, you're like, man, this starts
in October for me and goes to to you know,
the beginning of February. We we got, we got I'm hunting,
you know. But now if you rifle, it's it's a
little shorter. But he said, look at listen to this.
(02:41:05):
If you think about deer hunting, for you is pressure.
Speaker 2 (02:41:07):
Check this one out. In South Dakota where he is,
rifle tags are done by lottery. Now think about that.
Got a good tag for yeam shouting.
Speaker 5 (02:41:16):
Last year, I wasn't able to even go get a dough.
This year, I have a rifle buck tag for one
zone of the state. The season is only from November
twenty second to December the seventh, and my wife's birthday
is on December the fifth.
Speaker 2 (02:41:31):
That's pressure.
Speaker 5 (02:41:32):
Yeah, you go, Okay, a small window. I got a
small window. I have a buck tag for the rifle
and and so I want to use it. But but
just him saying, you know, yeah, we got a lottery here.
Speaker 6 (02:41:44):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:41:45):
Yeah, first and all I got to get you got
to draw yeah, permit, and then you got to hunt
a certain area that that permit came from. Yeah, that's zone.
And we'll give you a week to do it. Now,
that's it. That is pressure. And celebrate your wife's birthday
in the middle of it all. See, we take it
for granted because, like I said, if something comes up,
I can't go this week. Well I got till February. Yeah. Uh,
(02:42:07):
if you're hunt if if if you loved your hunting, okay,
and you can hunt both the ruts because normally there's
there's one and then there's there's another one. That's that
that trails it. You've got a long season. Yeah, well,
you know the first ruts over second ones in a
couple couple of weeks, about a month in certain parts
of the state, or they run early something they brought life.
(02:42:29):
You can hunt both sides. I never know, you know,
you never know. But you're right, emailer, that is pressure.
Sorry about that. Yep, we we just we we take
that for granted. All right.
Speaker 5 (02:42:39):
So we hit a lot of college football. Uh, and
what is up with these shootings? I saw where a
new new Uh it was a Jets. I think it
was a I think it was a Jets cornerback that
was shot. Yeah, yeah, I think he's okay. Uh, but
he was shot like at two two a m.
Speaker 2 (02:42:59):
In the morning or something.
Speaker 7 (02:43:00):
Chris Boyd, cornerback for the Jets, shot in the abdomen
early Sunday. He's in critical condition in the hospital. NYPD
didn't name Boyd as the victim.
Speaker 2 (02:43:13):
He thought playing for the Jets was bad, but the
Jets not very good.
Speaker 1 (02:43:17):
But he got shot.
Speaker 3 (02:43:19):
But the Jets confirmed Boyd.
Speaker 5 (02:43:21):
But yeah, yeah, now I can't see who was it, Okay,
so this makes more sense. So the Jets played Thursday
nights against the Patriots, so he had the weekend off
because at first I was thinking, what's the player doing
out at two am on game day?
Speaker 2 (02:43:37):
But no, he had already played, okay, but still.
Speaker 3 (02:43:40):
He played for the Texans last year.
Speaker 2 (02:43:41):
And just because you're out at two am don't mean
you should be shot. I'm coming to work around that time, right,
And then this one here, you know, I gave last chance.
Speaker 3 (02:43:50):
This was I'm sorry. This was in Manhattan, by the way, huh,
which I don't think you're allowed to have guns.
Speaker 2 (02:43:56):
Remember blast co Burs how he got I mean pretty
much missed his career just because he had a gun
in New York. Right, the accident is shot half in
the leg, yes, yeah, in his pocket.
Speaker 3 (02:44:06):
Yes yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:44:09):
Manhattan, along with the rest of New York City, has
numerous gun free zones where carrying a firearm is prohibited.
Speaker 3 (02:44:16):
But I thought gun free zones meant that it would
be safe. And that's what that means.
Speaker 2 (02:44:19):
It's just means the law biting people having no guns. Okay,
that's oh, that's right, that's what you think. The people
who break the law care, you know, yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:44:28):
If you're gonna shoot somebody, probably don't care.
Speaker 2 (02:44:30):
No, and and continuing our hey somebody has been shot segment.
This one here is is terrible.
Speaker 5 (02:44:36):
Last chance you you know, we uh we uh covered
this especially season one, and then it kind of got Yeah.
I got off in it, and I was like, scuba scuba, Yeah,
last chance Coach John.
Speaker 2 (02:44:50):
Beam, I think he if I'm correct, the last one
they did on football was in California, and I think
it's that guy. I think it's is it Laney? I
think so is this guy right here? Yeah? Yes, exactly,
I know exactly that is Guys.
Speaker 5 (02:45:05):
He's died after being shot on campus where he worked
the Oakland Police Department said Friday, the suspect, who police
say new and targeted Bean. He's sixty six six, has
been arrested.
Speaker 2 (02:45:18):
Sod a beef with him, I guess. So his death
is a day after he was shot at at Laney College.
As you can imagine, it raddled the community and everybody
was like, what in the way it came to work? Yeah,
they were holding a vigil outside the hospital before he died,
remembering him and all this. But Oakland Assistant chief said
that the suspect went on campus for a specific reason,
(02:45:41):
but did not elaborate on what that was. It looks
like it's obvious, but this was a very targeted incident.
They're saying he showed up to do that. What he
didn't say how him and the suspect and coach Bean
knew each other. But they said that the suspect had
played football at a high school where Beam had worked,
(02:46:03):
but not at the time the coach was employed there. Okay,
suspect was taken into custody without any altercation and a
gun was recovered. Sad news. So he just walks up
and kills shoots coach Beam, and then he's taken to
the hospital and then later dies. Did you just call
this segment the hey I Got shot segment? And that
(02:46:23):
what you said?
Speaker 3 (02:46:24):
I shouldn't have I guess, but I mean, I'm just
saying we knew what you were saying.
Speaker 2 (02:46:27):
But did you hear label this is the hey I
got shot?
Speaker 3 (02:46:30):
I heard that.
Speaker 5 (02:46:31):
Sad said we were going from a Jets player being
shot to now coach Beam.
Speaker 2 (02:46:36):
But I didn't watch was least It was my least favorite.
The first one was the best. And then that guy
from Kansas too, was from California to that like he
was the greatest coach in the world. Yes, they won
one game.
Speaker 3 (02:46:50):
Yes, Greg, that guy it is easy?
Speaker 2 (02:46:53):
Is he the hot tub cigar guys that you're talking
about Independence Kansas? Yes, he was talking about how great
play caller he was and get ready and he's smoking
a cigar in a hot tib the openings the scene,
Oh my goodness, what in the world.
Speaker 7 (02:47:12):
Yeah, I'm pretty much a Bellichick saving type of character.
Speaker 2 (02:47:15):
You got to see me call play. Yeah, they were
saying Coach Bean Back to him, they said that, uh,
his big thing was he would make connections with players
that others wouldn't gamble on, like he would take him
in and build a relationship with him, give him a chance,
and so sad news. I didn't see that though. I
didn't see that one. It was okay, maybe the others
(02:47:37):
were better. Well, we do another unscreen phone call segment
this hour. I don't know the other one. The other
one went so went so well. I don't know that
we have a need chancey, I think I've earned another one.
I said, we'll see.
Speaker 5 (02:47:51):
Uh eight eight eighty six big box our number. Rick

So that's pretty cool. Adler. We were discussing late last
week and I just told you to stop because sometimes
when we when we're talking about things, if we tell
too much, you know, then we get on air with
it and we're like, okay, I already know the story.
So you said that you had you had to had
(02:49:35):
a fun run I believe with with Ruby.
Speaker 13 (02:49:38):
Was it?
Speaker 6 (02:49:40):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (02:49:40):
And you started in on on that and I and
it just sounded so bizarre. I said, just please stop
and bring it to air. So what would you do?
Speaker 7 (02:49:48):
This was I've ran a marathon a couple not this
past weekend weekend before marathon. Yeah, there's a color run
with kids with children.
Speaker 2 (02:50:00):
They explain color Run. I've heard this and I was
actually seen.
Speaker 6 (02:50:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:50:04):
It was a little over a mile, so it wasn't
not technically a marathon, but I'll tell people that I
ran a marathon.
Speaker 3 (02:50:12):
Yeah, you know. I showed up not knowing what to
expect in the color Run.
Speaker 7 (02:50:16):
But they say, they say we're white because they're gonna,
they're gonna as you run the route, it's race.
Speaker 3 (02:50:24):
It's it's a fun run, color run, and so I
thought it would be. Well they don't. They don't think
of that, and I didn't either.
Speaker 2 (02:50:34):
I mean, these things have been around for it is
it a shower of paint and everything. People will literally.
Speaker 3 (02:50:42):
It's cups of chalk dust.
Speaker 2 (02:50:44):
It's like chalk dust and they throw it up in
the air like Lebron James, and you run under it
and you.
Speaker 3 (02:50:48):
Run it or they just throw it at you.
Speaker 2 (02:50:50):
So it said.
Speaker 7 (02:50:52):
I learned about it on Friday, did get I was like, well,
I guess it's happening on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (02:50:57):
I guess I'll go.
Speaker 7 (02:50:58):
So I took the kids, showed up. I got Ezra
and a stroller. Ruby's running, yall, I have Okay, So
we take off. We take off, and I'm wearing white
because they say you're supposed to be white because then
it shows up.
Speaker 3 (02:51:13):
I spilled coffee on my shirt.
Speaker 7 (02:51:14):
So we're waiting around and I'm like, well, I guess
this is the day to spill coffee.
Speaker 3 (02:51:18):
I have to wear black shirts every day. By the way,
my life is so messy.
Speaker 7 (02:51:23):
I spilled coffee on my shirt. Well I'm like, well,
hopefully I'll get some paint on there soon and people
won't be able to see it. So there's I mean,
there's two hundred kids and one hundred maybe or so adults,
and we take off and this I've done one five
k in my entire life, Like that's really it.
Speaker 3 (02:51:40):
I've never really ran. I was with my wife before
we had kids, and so I don't know what to do.
And it's mania. At the beginning of these.
Speaker 7 (02:51:47):
Laces, it's crazy faster and Ruby's running run faster. I
have a stroller with me, so I'm like trying to
weave in between people. It's craziness. And then we get
to the first station and they hear comes to chalk
dust and got it. You breathed, you breathe. I don't
care this idea this was color runs aren't fun. It's
(02:52:10):
like a hot air balloons.
Speaker 2 (02:52:11):
So you're saying, if someone says there's a color run,
you want to stay away from it.
Speaker 3 (02:52:15):
I don't know who came up with this idea, but
I am avoiding it. I breathe it in. I'm like, great,
I've been filtering my water for three years.
Speaker 2 (02:52:23):
I just out.
Speaker 7 (02:52:24):
I just got rid of that by breathing in this
chalk dust. I guess I don't need to filter my
water anymore.
Speaker 1 (02:52:29):
Son of you?
Speaker 2 (02:52:30):
Okay, Ezra, can you breathe?
Speaker 11 (02:52:31):
All right?
Speaker 2 (02:52:32):
Why are you pink?
Speaker 7 (02:52:33):
And so we get about half a mile in and
we've made it through two stations pretty unscathed except for
our lungs, and so we're going on her.
Speaker 3 (02:52:41):
She did good.
Speaker 7 (02:52:41):
She's a wild she's wild, so she what she doesn't
run like long distances or anything like that.
Speaker 3 (02:52:49):
I don't think she knows how to jog because she
was sprinting.
Speaker 7 (02:52:53):
She was sprinting, sprinting, sprinting, running as fast as can
and I'm trying to keep up with her, weaving in
between people almost took the old lady out.
Speaker 3 (02:52:59):
I was bad trying to stay with my kid. I
gotta stay with my kid.
Speaker 7 (02:53:03):
And so we're half halfway done with his race, Ruby
starts getting tired and instead of like jogging, she just
stops and puts her hands on her hips and just stops.
Speaker 2 (02:53:12):
And I'm getting run over. I'm getting blown off.
Speaker 3 (02:53:14):
Go keep going. She's like, no, you're going too fast, daddy,
No stop stop.
Speaker 13 (02:53:20):
I'm like no, I'm just saying, don't don't stop, totally stop,
just like jog.
Speaker 3 (02:53:25):
If you're tired, you don't.
Speaker 7 (02:53:27):
And she she would stop first, and then she would
take off as fast as she could with her and
I'm like, oh, stop, just.
Speaker 3 (02:53:34):
Jog and a leisurely raging about John stopped.
Speaker 2 (02:53:40):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (02:53:40):
I'm like, okay, you gotta stop talking, and she gets
mad at me for going too fast. I'm following you, kid,
I'm and she's she's yelling at me, and you know,
you can let it go for a minute or two,
but then you get yelled at when you're trying to
do some fun with your kid, and it and it
bothers you. And so they do a little attitude adjustment.
And I realized prints if the school is right there
(02:54:01):
next to me, and I'm like, hey, I have miss
principal oh, she puts the pal in principal.
Speaker 3 (02:54:05):
Okay, and so that was odd.
Speaker 2 (02:54:08):
I wish that lady had called you out about and kids.
Speaker 3 (02:54:10):
It would be funny.
Speaker 7 (02:54:12):
So I'm Ruby is she's being a trooper. And we
get through a couple more stations where we can see
the finish line. There's a lot of chalk, we can
see the finish line. Ruby does get it in her eyes,
so I had to find I had to find a clean, clean,
like one clean spot on my shirt get it out
of her eyes. We keep going and I'm I'm actually
(02:54:33):
pretty unscathed. I got a little bit on my front,
none on my back, and some guy with a cup
as I'm about to I'm about to hit the finish line.
Speaker 3 (02:54:41):
Some guys like, it looks like you're a little too clean, buddy.
Speaker 7 (02:54:44):
I'm like, yeah, ha, you can, I mean, yeah, okay, fine,
just right here on my back, guys, I'm running.
Speaker 2 (02:54:49):
This is going on.
Speaker 3 (02:54:51):
But he goes nuts and I don't know what happened
because it was to my back and I feel just like.
Speaker 13 (02:54:58):
In my hair and ear and y'all have my my phone,
fun my wallet, my coffee in a little bag and
the stroller, my coffee's ruined.
Speaker 2 (02:55:10):
You're buffey.
Speaker 7 (02:55:11):
Blue dust is in the charging port of my stinking phone.
My car, keys, I'm getting dust out of my car,
key buttons. My goodness, whoever came up with color run
so he idea.
Speaker 2 (02:55:27):
You didn't have enough color owns, so he took it
upon himself to just hammer you.
Speaker 3 (02:55:30):
The guy blasted me from behind.
Speaker 2 (02:55:32):
I mean it was crazy, not run. Yeah, so we
get to the why you so mad? I'm so proud
of it.
Speaker 3 (02:55:41):
I'm so proud of my little daughter Ruby.
Speaker 2 (02:55:43):
She was so tough.
Speaker 3 (02:55:44):
She ran the final leg in and blinded by chalk. Y'all.
Speaker 7 (02:55:49):
I had chalk in my armpits, in between my my behind,
my ears. I'm whoever came up with that was real genius,
my big brain idea.
Speaker 2 (02:56:03):
There Joey go home gettingers.
Speaker 3 (02:56:06):
Yes, ruined that white shirt. I don't know why I
thought it wouldn't get ruined.
Speaker 4 (02:56:10):
It definitely.
Speaker 2 (02:56:11):
Did you look at pal that threw it all on you, like, hey.
Speaker 3 (02:56:13):
Thanks, hey, thank you buddy? Getting blue chalk dust out
of my phone charging port. I can still see it
right now still. I got it out by the way,
laid down, thought about it night. I don't think there
was a single black person there. That's the whitest thing
I've ever done in my entire life.
Speaker 2 (02:56:27):
That color run.
Speaker 3 (02:56:28):

Speaker 1 (03:03:39):
By that, David, but.
Speaker 5 (03:03:40):
You do really good at that. We tracked him down
and he couldn't go on because of it. I couldn't
really understand why he couldn't. He had signed some kind
of agreement with the parent company over prevaging. Yeah, right,
but I guess they would do everything through them.
Speaker 2 (03:03:55):
But they they've moved on with the campaign because well,
in our area, we're not running. Yeah, or it may
still be out there.
Speaker 5 (03:04:01):

their goal for twenty twenty six is of how many
broken beds are gonna get.
Speaker 2 (03:05:27):
Larry got the bragging a little bit he did in
front of me. How uncomfortable you think you're ready for that? No,

had just put a dip in and she opened the
door and see when she went to talk a clown
because it's real, it's real fine because she she tried
(03:06:59):

and then the others would be sent straight to the store.
Speaker 2 (03:08:31):
See. I'm still mad that they took CD players out
of vehicles. Yeah, gotta bothers me. I love my stack
of CDs. I still get you can play it at home,
but a vehicle I used to, you know, I know
we can download it. Yeah, I get it. But you're right.
Speaker 5 (03:08:47):
But and also just having that is kind of cool too,
just for keepsake. We'll talk about all of that, and
we've been mentioning it as well.
Speaker 1 (03:08:56):
But oh they want for Christmas is cool hard cash yep.
Speaker 2 (03:09:02):
Coming early December, we uh, a couple of weeks out
of when we have the big year ender. We just
gonna be giving away cash, baby, that's right, uh, and
so be standing by for that. All I want for
Christmas is my two front teeth, that's it. My grandson
Elis has lost both ends. You think I'm not gonna
sing that serious Christmas.
Speaker 4 (03:09:22):
You better sing it too.
Speaker 3 (03:09:23):
That's prime time to sing that. He can really move.
Speaker 2 (03:09:29):
Yeah, how are you'all on Christmas music this early? I'm
not I'm not for it. You're not for it at all?
Speaker 3 (03:09:35):
December? I wait till December.
Speaker 5 (03:09:38):
You know, you've got your stations around the country. They
start early, all some of them playing for months and
that's their thing. They're the Christmas only station or whatever.
And you walk in stores and it's already playing. You know,
you might hum along a little bit, get you in
the spirit a little bit, Little Elvis, maybe I'll try
trees up?
Speaker 2 (03:09:55):
Is it? Yep? Tear you back away? And said, that's it. Now.
There's other little things, you know, Garland here there on
the steps and all that lights on side. Got to
do that, durn banister, Yeah I did. I did ask
Terry could we get a ruling? And can I wait
to the outside till after Thanksgiving week?
Speaker 3 (03:10:14):
Of course?
Speaker 2 (03:10:14):
Yeah, she said, I'm just getting the inside ready, so
I don't do a lot outside. We don't either, at
least a few little things porch maybe, yeah, yeah, some
few turees lit up colorful Christmas stuff. You know, I'd
always have wanted a big old wreath right in the
middle of but that'd be a handle. No crawling up there, Yeah,
it would be a handle. I do the little suction
(03:10:35):
things too that have hooks on them. Oh yeah, yeah,
but those are hard because they can give way and
it falls.
Speaker 5 (03:10:41):
It's hanging sideways. But a couple of stories here, maybe
we can fly through them. Uh hey, idiot Awards of
the Day.
Speaker 2 (03:10:50):
Oh we got those.
Speaker 5 (03:10:52):
I mean, what kind of person does this? Just saying
people just ain't right anymore. A Texas man is accused
of vandalizing a Veteran's Day flag display at a church.
Speaker 2 (03:11:03):
So he was he's mad at veterans. So not only
are you doing that to veterans, but you're also vandalizing
a church.
Speaker 5 (03:11:11):
Uh, police say, Timothy Myers pulled, uh tore flags down
at the display.
Speaker 2 (03:11:18):
But guess what he did. He left his I D behind.
Let me ask you a question. Why would he have
his wallet out? I don't know flag, he's just so
into ripping everything. But he left it at the scene
of the crime.
Speaker 7 (03:11:34):
And yeah, oh yeah, look at this guy looks exactly
like you would think he would look.
Speaker 3 (03:11:41):
Uh sorry, I got to add that's playing.
Speaker 5 (03:11:44):
You're good, You're good, thank good, excited about have clean
up volunteers come in and and clean the mass.
Speaker 2 (03:11:52):

Speaker 5 (03:11:56):
We got us an I d you idiot? Uh you
know it's just well, first of all, that's not smart. Yeah,
you're really showing how not smart?
Speaker 2 (03:12:03):
What about when he realized he had left his idea?
You know, he's like, golly, oh maybe somebody got it. Hey,
where is that?
Speaker 9 (03:12:09):
You know?
Speaker 2 (03:12:10):
The last thing I remember saying is right for a
twirl in flags?
Speaker 3 (03:12:13):
Right right?
Speaker 2 (03:12:14):
I hope he's not there.
Speaker 3 (03:12:15):
You want to hear it real quick?
Speaker 2 (03:12:16):
Yeah? Sure, sure, I'd love that Roland.
Speaker 7 (03:12:19):
Around seven thirty last night, police have identified the suspect
as forty eight.
Speaker 3 (03:12:25):
Here on your screen, kil TV sevens J D.
Speaker 2 (03:12:28):
Conti introduces us to the veteran who says he saw
it all happen. Oh, where is the guy actively tearing
down flags?
Speaker 1 (03:12:36):
Right now?
Speaker 2 (03:12:36):
That's justin Merlo down the flag over.
Speaker 7 (03:12:39):
Didn't know what it was at first, looked in my
rear view of ear and sure enough I see a flag.
Speaker 18 (03:12:44):
He was driving home around seven thirty last night on
Front Street and Tyler, the South's still up here.
Speaker 6 (03:12:51):
It is this morning.
Speaker 3 (03:12:53):
I was tearing up as I was walking through. Alex
Fruth is the president of the club.
Speaker 18 (03:12:57):
Many of the polls have been bent or broken, thankfully
the flanks themselves are Okay.
Speaker 2 (03:13:04):
We should we should be more concerned about the flag.
Speaker 3 (03:13:07):
We're not laughing about the flags. We're laughing at the
guy's boy, if you're going to get.
Speaker 2 (03:13:10):
A job announcing stuff, let's say I want to jog
a job that I have to run fast hand, I'm
probably not gonna get it. Yeah, you must be able
to speak without a list. Nothing gets list people. That's fine.
Speaker 3 (03:13:21):
When it wasn't that.
Speaker 18 (03:13:25):
Well took these phonos when police urrhyved. He says he
confronted the suspect who left his driver's license at the scene.
Speaker 2 (03:13:32):
Maybe maybe he's got sign of trouble, Maybe he's working
through a head goal. Maybe he is what we got
an opening for an announcer, Go ahead, sir, Yeah, you
know what I like. The next next, Oh, what an idiot?
Oh how about his picture?
Speaker 10 (03:13:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:13:55):
Nice choppers. Yeah, now we we I haven't seen two
front teeth go opposite direct that in a long time.
It was weird, Like I have like little wings and
he's a pretty fellow.
Speaker 3 (03:14:06):
He also shattered a glass door at a church.
Speaker 2 (03:14:08):
Yeah, throwing a conquered mass man just a mass all right?
Well the flame situation, oh damn.
Speaker 3 (03:14:17):
That was forty eight years old too. He should know better, huh.
Speaker 2 (03:14:25):
I'll say, let me get this in here. A fight
over a Thanksgiving turkey turned into a shootout at a
grocery store in North Carolina. One guy was arguing with
a cashier over the price of a turkey. Then another
guy stepped in, got into a fist fight with him,
and they both had guns. One got shot in the arm,
(03:14:47):
and they both got arrested. Thankfully nobody, Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
But it all started with the price of the turkey.
Let me ask him this. The checkout lady doesn't have
anything to do with it, and why are you arguing
with her?
Speaker 9 (03:15:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:15:03):
I was? It was at didn't they say that they
was checking out trying to buy arguing with the cashier?
Is a Giant Johnson's too?
Speaker 6 (03:15:09):
No?
Speaker 2 (03:15:11):
No, it's food line. I'm sorry, it was food line,
that was it. Yeah? Can you believe that, sir? I
don't price the items. I just chug them out. I'm
so sorry. I can't change it. I can't go that's
a little high. Let me knock some off.
Speaker 5 (03:15:23):
Yeah, They said that The situation started inside the store
when a custom began to argue with an employee over
the price of the turkey.
Speaker 2 (03:15:30):
Another customer they stepped in like hey, hey, calm down.
Speaker 5 (03:15:33):
And they got into an argument, which turned into a
fight over turned into both of them pulling out their
fog guns.
Speaker 2 (03:15:39):
Somebody got shot in the arm the knives and made
him eat his beard. Boy, there's just a lot going on,
Like while we're sitting here right now, there's just a lot.
That's not the holiday spirit. I'll tell you that. No, man,
there's a lot happening. Some crazy just get started, buddy,
This holiday time gets kind of crazy.
Speaker 7 (03:15:57):
I got to get out of my roof and do
my annual risking my life, risking my life so we
can have Christmas lights on our roofline I know.
Speaker 2 (03:16:05):
Yeah, you go to that.
Speaker 7 (03:16:05):
I'll take care of my kids if anything happens, and
we've got to have these lights on our house.
Speaker 2 (03:16:10):
He went doing what he loves. Yeah, hanging on the
side of the road.
Speaker 3 (03:16:14):
We love you, Rick.
Speaker 1 (03:16:15):
