(01:07):
get yourself a copy.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Let's get started in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
And a story that made headlines throughout the league yesterday,
the firing of Tom Thibodeaux by the New York Knicks.
The move came just a few days after the Knicks
made their deepest playoff run in twenty five years. Tibbs,
who led the Knicks to back to back fifty win
seasons for the first time since nineteen ninety five, leaves
ranking fourth all time on a franchise list in coaching victories. Now,

(01:30):
the focus shifts to potential head coaching replacements to lead
the team currently built around Jalen Brunson and call Anthony Towns.
Let me say this before I get into it, I want.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
To tell you this.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
There are a bunch of names that need to come up.
In a few seconds, I'm gonna get you about five.
I'm gonna give you about five because you need to know,
you need to know, you need to hear.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
The people that'saw on my list are right.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
And I got some honorable mentions as well, And I'll
explain why because I'm going all down the line, right,
we'll go all down the line. Just to tip off
my producers, Sam Cassell email, you don't go. I mean
you can talk about coaches of the contract, mind you. Okay,
the tie Lows of the world, and the Mike Malone's
and everybody else, Rick Brunton's evens, all of them. I'm

(02:14):
coming with a second, but let me say before I
even get into it, let me play a clip for
you that was very, very interesting doing my day job
on First Take number one morning show for the last
thirteen years in counting. Thanks to y'all, by the way,
thank you so much. Continue to support your brother. I
was gonna first Take this morning on ESPN. Well, my
man Jay Williams, and I can't take credit for this.

(02:37):
I gotta give him credit for this, because my man
Jay Williams came out with an idea that absolutely positively
blew me away because I didn't think about it. Why
would I think about it? I don't know why. I
think I know why, but I'm gonna tell you in
a minute, but not before I play this clip with
me and Jay Williams talking.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Check this out.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
You can't win. In twenty twenty five, playing nineteen nineties basketball,
you have to change up your style, and I do
think there is a coach out there that is currently
coaching the Houston Rockets that will be the most amazing
fit in New York City, and that's Imiudoka. A guy
that understands Boston Celtics and how they built with Brad

(03:19):
Stevens and Danny Ainge and.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
What their personnel looks like.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Has an understanding of that and has a similar but
updated culture in Houston with some young dogs where he's
built a pretty incredible foundation over a quick period of time,
and understanding how the Western Conference is loaded, and look,
the Knicks have money to spend. I think Imudoka is
the choice. I think he's the person you run towards,

(03:45):
and I think you find anyway to pry him away
from the Houston Rockets organization and bring him to the
New York Knicks, because I think he epitomizes who the
New York Knicks are as a franchise.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Now, what you didn't see there was me going I
didn't think of that.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
It's a great idea, But here's why I didn't think
about that. I know a few people in Houston, including
owner Tilament for Tita and I'm telling y'all ain't no
way in hell New York Nick's getting email U Doka.

(04:25):
Forget htown being h town because it's pretty flat. Forget
it being in the statement no state didn't come taxes.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
That's cool too.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Email U Doka is under contract for the next two years.
He can't leave unless tilerm and for Tita granted him
the freedom to do so. And I'm here to tell
you that shit ain't happening. Ain't happening. Email you Doka
ain't going nowhere if Tilaman and Fortita has anything to

(04:55):
say about it. He loves that man, His staff loves
that man. Employees loved that man. Email you don't just
they Bosston.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Where you're sat.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
There and railroaded him out of town. And I ain't
gonna bring up why. All I'm gonna say is that
damn an he won the first and he ain't the last.
But somehow his personal business, which could have been an
hr issue, became public consumption.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I ain't gonna get in effected as a hope, but
to white.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Boys that were guilty of such proclivities for decades, and we.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Ain't hear nothing. I know at least three dudes that
lost their.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Job in the last couple of years, all white.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
And landed on another NBA team. Nobody said nothing.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
We knew, we't reported because the team didn't confer, because
the team didn't want it out there like that. They
let the people go on about their business. But Email Udoka,
they threw under the bus and tried to ruin his
career and tell me Fatida and the Houston Rockets.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Said, damn that we're trying to win. It's one of
the greatest coaches in.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
The game, easily top five coaching basketball. That brother special,
a hell of a coach who would have coached Boston
to a championship.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
But that ended up being joy Missoula.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
That email Udoka, Oh my lord, everything I said about
the Knicks yesterday that raked my damn nerves, even their
weak ass statement by President Leon Rose. I would have
forgave that. If they came and said, yo, man, email
Udoka is the head coach of the New York Knicks,
all would have been forgiven. All would have been forgiven

(06:56):
because that man, not Leon Rose.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Email you Donka.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Is a hell of a coach, and that brother right there,
if they could get him, fine, but he's got two
years left on his deal in Houston, and I called
the source within an organization five minutes ago, and they said,
you couldn't pay us enough. He ain't going nowhere. I

(07:25):
know it's a double negative. He ain't going nowhere, but
he ain't gone nowhere. Grammatically and correct and all. He
ain't gone nowhere. Email you Donker staying in Houston.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
But let me give your list of names you might
want to consider.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I want to throw out Sam Cassel, assistant coach with
the Boston Celtics, because he should be a head coach
in this game and he deserves an honorable mention. He
just may not necessarily need to be in New York
because you know he was in Boston last year. You
didn't even want to contaminate us, you know what I'm saying.
You know he's Boston's New York. I don't know about that.
But Sam conceptises to be head coach in the NBA,
so he gotta throw his name for consideration.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
All right, I'm gonna throw out these names for you.
You ready.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
I'm gonna throw out Jay Wright, former head coach at
Villanova to Tom National champion, four trips to the Final four.
You're gonna say why, Jalen Brunston's to start the team,
Josh Hart and Michel Bridges are on the team for
the foreseeable future.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
They ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
And on top of it all, not only are they
not going anywhere, even though Michael Bridges might end up
being moved because he'll be looking for a contract extension
in the year, the bottom line is all three played
at Villanova. Jay Wright is a consideration. I'm gonna throw
out another name for you. Rick Brunson, Jalen Brunston's daddy,

(08:46):
who's been on the bench last couple of leagues, that's
two three years, who I can tell you knows his basketball.
You start Temple, played in the NBA, rough and rugged,
no punk in him at all. You're gonna be tough
playing for him. You're gonna be accountable playing for him.
I like Rick Brunton. I think he's somebody that we

(09:06):
should keep our eyes on for future opportunities in the NBA. Personally,
i'm'a let you know that right now. I'm just throwing
them on my list. Number three on the list Mike Malone,
former coach in Denver, one of the NBA Championship A
couple of years ago. Just work with me doing the
Western Conference Finals. I would have no problem if the
New York Knicks picked him as the next head coach

(09:27):
of the franchise, no problem whatsoever.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
I know he departed on.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
The tense terms because players kind of needed to hear
a new voice. He was big on player accountability. He
didn't have the greatest relationship reportedly anyway with the GM
Calvin Booth, and so both of them ended up getting
booted out of there by the Gronkeys who owned the team.
But Mike Malone is a champion and a damn a

(09:55):
damn great basketball mind who has.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Proven he can coach.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
We ain't sleeping on that, so he would definitely be
on my list.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Wouldn't put him top.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Two though, I put Mark Jackson at number two. Remember
the Mark Jackson used to coach a Golden State. Remember
Mark Jackson and starred at Saint John's. Remember the Mark
Jackson that was Rookie of the Year in the NBA
for the New York Knicks. Remember the Mark Jackson that
played for the Indiana Pacers. Remember that Mark Jackson that
ultimately coached the Golden State Warriors and groomed the splash
brothers for Steve curR to capitalize off of Remember that

(10:30):
that Mark Jackson, Cause somebody explain to me why this
man is still black ball from the NBA, not even
an assistant coach, as good of a job as he
has done, as knowledgeable as he is about the game
of basketball, me personally him Van Gundy.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I splashed them together.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
I loved them being on the same coaching staff because
I missed them calling the games. Love the job Jj
Reddick did calling games. Loved the job that Richard Jefferson
with Dorris Burke and Mike Breen do calling the games.
Loved the job that Tim Legler dous. Love my man
Ryan Ruko, the whole bit. No shade on nobody. I'm
proud to call these folks colleagues.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
They're great. But I'm not gonna lie and tell you
that I don't miss.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Mark Jackson and Jeff dan Gundy, who, by the way,
jeffan Guny is a leaders sistant on the Los Angeles
Clippers bench. I think if Mark Jackson would get a
head coaching job, Jef Van Gundy should be his top assistant.
I think if Jeff Van Gundy gets a head coaching job,
Mark Jackson should be his stop assistant.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
That's how I'm flowing with it. That's how I'm flowing
with it.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
And not only that, when you consider New York in
the sizzle that you need since players, since people like
Leon Rose don't want to talk to the media, you
know what helps to see a guy like Mark Jackson
talking because he's one of our own in New York.
You understand we love Bishop Locklan, Saint John's Nicks. Is

(11:52):
Mark Jackson one of the greatest point guards in New
York history, by the way, and you're talking to a
brother that grew up the great Kenny Ennsen. Don't get
me wrong, want better than these dudes. But he was
in that ballpark because he was a sasied to Rod Strickland.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Just saw him the other day at the Knixt game.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Steph Var Marlbury might be the greatest point guard in
the history of New York.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Let's not sleep on that, brother.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Okay, you got the Nate tiny Archiballs, the Stephar Marlbury's,
the Rod Stricklands, the late great d Wayne Pearl Washington,
the greatest show in the history of college basketball.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
You think I'm lying, go back and watch the tape.
Go back and watch the tape.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Listen d Wayne Pearl Washington and went to Syracuse. We
had some great point guards Kennedy to Jet Smith. Let's
not forget him. Kareem Reid out of Saint Ravens. Let's
not forget him. God sham god Well, one of the
greatest handles in history.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Let's not forget him. With all of that being said,
still got to mention MANK. Jackson. Still got to mention MANK. Jackson.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
He's one of us in New York City with him
as the head coach worth consideration. Just can't put him
number one at the list against another dude who's under contract,
and I put email you Doak in the same category.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Slash him number one with the great Ty Lou for
the Los Angeles Clippers.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
A champion, some man, somebody who continuously overachieves, who makes
in game adjustments. Who if James Harden was short for
Game seven, who knows where far he would have want
he would have gone. I'm just sorry. I love James
harderper Damn. I'm just saying these are things to consider.
So I got ty Lu, slash email you Doka. Both

(13:32):
under contract teams ain't letting them out their deals. We
understand that I got Mark Jackson, who everybody should have
on their list to be a head coach in the NBA.
I got Mike Malone, who everybody have on the list
to be a coach in the NBA.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
He's a champion, okay. I got Rick Brunson, and.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
I got Jay Wright with an honorable mention for my man,
Sam Counsel and Boston who deserves a head coaching opportunity
at some point, if not already.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
That's just me, that's just me.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
A producer in my ear brought up Danny Hurley really really,
you know he's at Connecticut. Yeah, Yukon, you know what
I'm saying. I mean, you know he can coach Danny Hurley.
I mean, I'm not gonna pooh pooh that the Hurlies
are the Hurlies. They're an institution, so we I was
getting ready to get on my producer about that, but

(14:21):
he's actually right, And since he's right, I'm gonna leave
it at that. I got something else to talk to
you about in a second, but not before I get
to this note with you from Prize Picks. Check it out,
all right, folks, I need you all ust oot what
you're doing and listen up.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
The Oklahoma City Thunder will face off against the Indiana
Pacers in Game one of the NBA Finals tomorrow night.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
So today I'll give you my picks for the game.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
First up, we'll shave gilg Just Alexander score more or
less than thirty three and.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
A half points. We're going with more.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
It's Shay good Gill, just Alexander, it's Shaye Butter and
Indiana doesn't have a strong defense.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Okay, please easy call.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Next will Tyre's Halliburton scored more less than seventeen and
a half points.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I'm going with less on this one. He hasn't faced
his defense.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Usually it's a shock to the system going up against
Okac's defense. I think that's gonna happen with Tyre's Halliburton
in this game. Next up with Jaylen Williams scored more
less than twenty two and a half points, one of
only two players in the NBA him and Evan Mobley
who were both All NBA players and All NBA.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Defensive Team players. I'm going with more on this one.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
And finally, well, Pascal Siakam scored more or less than
nineteen and a half points. I'm going with less for
the same reason as I went with Tyrese Halliburton scoring
less against this defense. So again, that's more for sha
Gil just Alexander, that's less for Tyrese Halliburton, that's more
for Jalen Williams, and that's less for Pascal siaka.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
There you have it.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Ladies and Gentlemen's stephen A Your Boy, I know what
I'm talking about. Go to Prizepects app and check out
the stephen A Smith's Show community play. By the way,
it's boosted twenty five percent.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Not a quick note, I just want.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
To get into some news about yours truly. Earlier today,
I announced a new multi year deal with Serrius XM
where I'll be overseeing two new shows. The first will
be a new daily sports talk show that will air
on Mad Dog Sports Radio weekdays from one to three
pm Eastern Standard Time and re air from six to
eight pm Eastern Standard Time. The second show will be

(16:49):
weekly and we'll focus on current events, pop culture, politics,
social commentary.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
To hold your bang.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
The program will air on a nonsports Serious XM channel.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
In all likelihood hood it okay, so the Potus.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Channel on Sirius XM is in all likelihood will it
will air, But I'll have further details for you in
the weeks to come. To show on Mad Dog Sports
Radio will debut September second, the Tuesday immediately following Labor
Day week. And been negotiating this for a while. At
one point in time, we've been talking about my own channel,
But there's a lot that goes into that that. Quite frankly,

(17:23):
with all the other things, all the the ventures I'm
venturing into, I didn't really have time to really engage
in that stuff. But I'm very honored and very grateful
for Serious XMS and their interest in bringing me back
on board. It was gonna take a lot to do
to bring me back on board, and they came.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Through it a lot, so they made offers.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Quite frankly, I simply couldn't refuse, and to be a
part of Mad Dog Sports Radio. Listen, mad Dog is
my guy. I love them to death, and if I
was gonna do a sports show, that's the channel that,
honestly I would want it to be on. Last when
I was there several years ago, I had a ball
and they treated me great, and those guys over there

(18:06):
were absolutely phenomenal to me. I know the Adam Shines
of the world, I know the JT the Bricks of
the world. Steve Torre, who's you know, one of the
executives over there, is an absolutely wonderful person and a
great radio leader.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
So I'm looking forward to it this YouTube channel.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Obviously, there will be some content from the show on
Sirius XM that will air on the YouTube channel as well,
and so that this channel is not going away. This
is a channel that I own and operate one hundred
percent and it will stay in place. But some of
the content will be coming from Sirius XM obviously, and
so because of that, that's what the situation is going

(18:47):
to be. So I just want to thank everybody from
the bottom of my heart for the support that you
have given me, and just to make you aware that
I'm hyped and ready to roll. I've worked at Sirius
XM before. I know the people. I know who they are,
I know what they stand for, I know what they
are about, and I know whatever resources that I need
in order to be successful. It's something they will not
hesitate to provide me. They've already put some stuff in

(19:10):
play and I don't even start for another three months.
So I'm incredibly thankful to them for the opportunity that
they have bestowed upon me. I can't be thankful enough.
And to lead in the Mad Dog Russo and his
afternoon drive show is challenging in and of itself, but
to have my show reair following his show, which essentially

(19:33):
is making him my lead into the reader to his leader,
he's the lead into my reair is also compelling as well.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
Naturally, you know how I roll.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
If I'm around and stuff happens between the three and
six o'clock hour. When I'm off, I'll come right back
on the edge six o'clock to handle my business. That's
just what I do. And so stay tuned. There's a
lot coming down the pike. I'm not finished. I got
a ESPN.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
I have this.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
I'm not finished because my passion and my interest what
they are, and a lot of things that I'm doing
will surprise a lot of people. This is just one
of this is the latest, but it's very very important
to me that I'm back in the.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Mix doing radio. I love it.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
I'm gonna love talking to the listeners and going back
and forth with folks. It's what energizes me and gets
my juices flowing. That's the way I like it. So
September second, Tuesday, September second, immediately following Labor Day weekend,
The Stephen A. Smith Show will debut on Serious XMS
mad Dog Sports Radio one pm Eastern Standard Time. It's

(20:39):
a multi year deal, so I'll be there for multiple years,
God willing. Thank you so much for the port, for
the support.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I really really.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Appreciate it, and I hope you'll stick with me here
and I hope that you'll stick with me there wherever
I go. I like y'all being with me because that
emboldens me. It makes me feel great to know that
I have y'all support. Thank you so much. Since Sealy,
from the bottom of my heart, coming up days after
leaving his post as the head of doge Elon Musk

(21:06):
fires shots at the White House over spending. I'll get
into that straight ahead, but first Sean Dinny Combs allegedly
made a one hundred thousand dollars cash payment to buy
the hotel beating video of Cassie. I'll get into the
latest on his federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial. All
that coming up, and then some next right here on.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
The Steven Nate Smith Show. Don't go away.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
All right, everybody listen up. Were all the big tom
sports action that's happening each and every day.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
The Steven A.

Speaker 2 (21:38):

of it all. That's why we partnered with Prize Picks,

from any of your favorite players Tyrese Halliburd, Shay Gilges,

The list is really endless.

(22:24):
back to Steven A. Smith's Show. Now let's get to
the latest on the federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial
of Seawan Dinny Combs. Earlier today, a forensic video expert
testified that the twenty sixteen video from the Intercontinental Hotel
that showed Comb's assaulting Casti Ventura was not manually altered.
This follows testimony yesterday from Eddie Garcia, a former security

(22:47):
officer at the Intercontinental Casia, talked about how Combs allegedly
tried to cover up the video, saying he accepted one
hundred thousand dollars from Combs in exchange for the footage.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Combs is pleaded not.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Guilty to all charges that include racketeering, conspiracy, and sex trafficking.
If convicted on all counts, he could face up to
life imprisonment.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Once again, this is not a good look.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
But I want to emphasize something here because I was
I remember I was at the barbershop the other day
arguing with one of my barbers. Whenever I'm traveling, I've
got barbers. You know, I running the barbers in several cities,
so I might let them cut me in. Where I
was the other day, this guy, Peter, one of the barbers,
was talking to me and he was saying that, you

(23:30):
know what, it's not fair. It's not fair how everybody's
covering the Didty trial. I'm like, stop stop the bitching.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Stop it.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Okay, that's not what the issue is the issue is
that the defense that the prosecution is making their case. Now,
the defense could try to refute it, and then they're
going to have their opportunity to bring on their own
witnesses and to make their case against any of the
witnesses who have testified against Ditty. So we have to
understand that and understand that all of the things that

(23:59):
are being present and portrayed, by and large is from
a prosecution that it's charging with sex trafficking and racketeering,
and everything that they're doing is an attempt to make
their case stronger and stronger. Now, according to the Ryan Smiths,
the Eli Hornings of the world, and others who have
been on this show, the prosecution is making their case
stronger and stronger every day. When you show a violent

(24:20):
video of him when he was beating on Cassie Ventura,
guess what, there's no way around that. When you show
the tape of showing Diddy Combs, you know, apologizing and
coming across as very contrite, saying quote unquote, I was
really fucked up at the time, I was really messed
up bad.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
These were his words, not anybody else's.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
You recognize he recognizes his level of guilt in terms
of domestic violence. For those that would argue that's not
sex trafficking, that's not racketeering. Well, if they're making the
case that these chargers are evident because of intimidation that
has been exercised, then that video suddenly becomes relevant. That

(24:59):
his contrition lords about that video suddenly becomes relevant. When
you look at the fact that he's paying off folks
one hundred thousand dollars to destroy videos and things of
that nature, Well, that comes along with racketeering and sex trafficking.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
In the prosecution's eyes. This is the case that they're making.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
And unless he can refute these things and can say
that they didn't happen and throw holes into the argument
of the.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Prosecution, it doesn't look good.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
It doesn't look good now, having said all of that,
to get back to my man, Peter, that's the prosecution story.
Eventually we will hear the defense. Will there be holes
to poke in those arguments? Will there be facts that
are definitively refuted? Will we find ourselves in a situation

(25:55):
where fabrication is exposed at showing diddycombs? Will we hear
that there was no offer nor a payment of one
hundred thousand dollars?

Speaker 1 (26:08):
What will we hear? What will we see?

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Will we learn there were no drugs. Will we learned
there were no sex workers.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Will we learn that all of that oil.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
Was it accident or with somebody else that's not his?
Will we hear that the punisher was a lie? Will
we hear refutable evidence that Cassie Ventur was never exposed

(26:44):
to urine nation.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
On or in her? What's the chances of that? So
there's a lot of evidence out there we don't know.
I'm not here.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
I have not tried to convict Diddy Comb's in any
way shape form of possible.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
I've brought on people who are covering the trial.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I've articulated what the specific charges are, how viable, how plausible,
how palatable they are. That is what I have done.
I don't know what's happened. I don't have any clue
of his innocence or guilt. The only thing that I
have condemned him for was that video where he was
beaten living hell out of Cassie Ventura. Because they ain't

(27:29):
no getting around that, he himself condemned his own actions.
So that is what it is, and that's how we
got to look at it. Let me move on to
the next.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Subject coming up.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Secretary of Defense Pete Haig Saith wants the Navy to
change the ship's name dedicated to a former gay rights
activist and veteran. I'll get into that ahead, but first
days after leaving DOGE, Elon Musk blasts President Trump overspending
of all things. We've got that and more coming up.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
This is to Steph Nix Smith's Don't Go Away. Welcome
back to Steven A. Smiths Show.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Now let's get to Washington and two headlines brewing out
of DC. Actually I got three, but it's definitely two
at this particular moment of time. We'll start with Tesla's
CEO and form a head of DOZE Department of Government
Efficiency for those of you don't know mister Elon Musk,
who now has an issue with President Donald Trump. According
to ABC News, multiple people who have spoken to the

(28:26):
President and Musk have described a widening rift on a
range of recent moves by the administration in addition to Musk.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
In addition to that, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Musk went on the offensive yesterday blasting the President over
the legislative agenda. Here's what he posted on X last
night quote, I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore.
This massive outrageous port Field Congressional spending bill is a
disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it. You

(28:56):
know you did wrong. End quote. In another post, he
wroteque quote it will massively increase the already gigantic budget
deficit to two point five trillion dollars and burning American
citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt end quote.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
And finally, this morning he posted this quote here it.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Is in November next year, we fire all politicians who
betrayed the American people.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
End quote.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
The White House has yet to comment. This is not
a good look. This is not a good look.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
But how surprised should we be?

Speaker 2 (29:32):
You see, when you talk about the two point five
trillion dollar budget deficit, ladies and gentlemen, our national deficits
already at thirty seven trillion, So you're talking about this
deficit approaching forty trillion. You're talking about Trump and what
he's proposing with his big, beautiful bill, reaching the likes

(29:53):
of approximately forty three to forty four trillion dollars.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
We've already lost our credit rating.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Our stature, the respect of the financial sector of the
world has dissipated. For the United States of America. We've
got people on Capitol Hill that are anxious. We're so
anxious to get into power. And we talked about our
national debt and how we have to curb spending.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
But what are we doing? What are we doing? We've
got issues with Medicaid.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
We've got people who are scheduled to lose their health insurance.
We're hearing about an economy that's getting better. We're hearing
about inflation having dipped. We're hearing that our borders are
under control. We're supposed to be a thriving economy and
we're moving in a forward direction. But every time we

(30:47):
turn around, we hear about something else. Now, I'm not
about to sit here and engage in condemnation because I
don't know the particulars. When I think about the Big
Beautiful Bill, I'm thinking about it along the lines of
there are things to like about it, there are things
to complain about it, and as we look at it,
we have to dissect it with a fine tooth of
fine tooth comb and recognize that, you know what, everybody's

(31:10):
gonna have their feelings. When I think about it, from
my notes that I took in terms of the Big
Beautiful Bill, Act. I just find myself saying, hey, what's
going on? If you're the GOP. Extension of twenty seven
to twenty seventeen tax cuts, new tax breaks, salt deduction
increases state in local taxes.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
That's what salt stands for.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Deduction cap is raised from ten thousand to forty thousand
for married couples earning up to five hundred thousand dollars,
addressing concerns from representatives in high tax states like New
York and New Jersey. The GOP finds that to be
a very good thing. Obviously, they claim this bill, the
Big Beautiful Bill, is definitely something that supports small businesses.
Provisions such as the reinstatement of immediate R and D

(31:53):
expensing and increased pass through deductions aim to bolster of
small businesses and domestic manufacturing. To me, that's lip service.
That part is lip service because I need to hear
the numbers. I need to hear the numbers, and until
I hear the numbers, I'm not gonna feel that way
about it.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
So that's something to think about right there, and we
got to look at it from that standpoint. What do
the Democrats say about the bill, they've been complaining about it.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
You know they have, you know they have.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
What does A House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffrey says, quote,
we believe it's one big, ugly bill that's going to
hurt the American people, Hurt children, hurt families, hurt veterans,
hurt seniors, cut healthcare, cut nutritional assistance.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Explode the debt. That's what a Kim Jeffrey says.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
He's been a guest on his show and has always
welcomed back then the Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, He writes, quote,
this is not one big beautiful bill.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
It's ugly.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
There's nothing beautiful about stripping away people's healthcare, forcing kids
to go hungry, the nine communities the resources they need
in increasing poverty.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
End quote.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
What are the Democrats' problems with this bill? They're talking
about healthcare cuts. The bill imposers work requirements for Medicaid
recipients and reduces federal Medicaid payments to states, potentially leading
the millions losing coverage, according to the Democrats. Tax benefits
for the wealthy. Democrats argue that the bill extends tax
cuts primarily benefiting high income earners and corporations while offering

(33:14):
minimal relief to working in middle class Americans. What else
do the Democrats say it increases the deficit? The Congressional
Budget Office itself estimates that the bill could add two
point three trillion to the national deficit over the next decade.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
Social program reductions.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
The legislation includes significant cuts to SNAP, that is, food
Assistance Ladies and Gentlemen and other safety net programs, which
Democrats believe will exacerbate poverty and hunger. Last, but not least,
redrit restrictions on reproductive and LGBTQ plus healthcare. The bill
prohibits Medicaid from covering gender affirming care and services provided

(33:55):
by clinics that offer abortions, aligning with conservative social issues.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Now that last part I won't challenge. Here is the
reason why.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
If you don't believe in abortion, if you are a
pro lifer, why should your tax dollars be spending for
something that you inherently don't believe in, whether it be
for religious purposes or anything else. Now that's different. If

(34:28):
you were born a man or born a woman and
you wanted to transition, I believe you should have the
freedom to do whatever you want. But should tax pay
dollars pay for it. See, that's where it gets tricky,
and that's what we have to understand that. For the

(34:50):
most part, I'm very concerned with what the Democrats are
saying healthcare cuts. I'm very concerned about that. Tax benefits
for the wealthy not as much concerned about that. You know,
the top one percent of the population spends about sixty
percent of the taxes. So if they find a way
to exploit whatever loopholes so they can avoid being bled,

(35:11):
I don't I don't have a problem with that as
long as you getting that sixty percent from them. Okay,
they shouldn't get away without paying taxes, but it's not
like you should constantly be able to come to people
and want more and more and more money, because the
more you want money from other people, the less of
an obligation you're absorbing of mining your finances. These politicians

(35:35):
on Capitol Hill, I'm sick and tired of them coming
to us every two years, every four years asking for
more taxpayer dollars. What are you doing to manage budgets?

Speaker 1 (35:44):
What are you doing to curb spending?

Speaker 2 (35:46):
We can't have everything, we can't we can't And I'm
not talking to Republicans, and I'm not talking to Democrats.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
I'm talking to all of their asses.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
You gotta but you got a deficit over thirty seven
trillion dollars. That's the scheduled to explode and exceed over
forty trillion dollars. Both sides of the Isle played a
pivotal role in that happening. It wasn't just Democrats in
office in a house, the Senate and a White House.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
All of these years, We've.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Had members of both sides of the Isle in all
of those houses all of these years. All of yous
did this, All of yous, you all did this. So
I don't want to hear it. But I am concerned
about the particulars. I am concerned about the specifics, and
I think that that needs to be broached. I'll leave

(36:41):
it at that for now, because this is the subject
that's not going away.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
So let me move on to the next subject is.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Again, I gotta get out of hey, I gotta get on.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
Out of here soon.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
We gotta get to this other story out of Washington
involving Secretary of Defense Pete Heigseth. Heg Sept has ordered
the Secretary of the Navy to rename the oiler ship
USNS Harvey Milk. The ship, which launched in twenty twenty one,
was named after the gay rights activists and Navy veteran
who was forced to resign from the service because of

(37:10):
his sexual orientation. A military official says the ship will
be officially renamed later this month. No word on what
the new ship's name will be. However, the timing is
notable given that June is Pride Month. In addition to that,
the USNS Harvey Milk is part of the John Lewis
class of oiler ships that are named after civil rights leaders.

(37:31):
Of the ships in this class include the USNS Earl Warren,
NS Robert F. Kennedy, us NS Lucy Stone, and us
NS Sojourn The Truth. Ladies and gentlemen, Do I like
this now? If I was president of I was the
Secretary of Defense, would I do it?

Speaker 3 (37:50):
No?

Speaker 2 (37:52):
I live and let live. LGBTQ community has my support.
I don't have a problem with recognizing great individuals from
their communities or anywhere else. Doesn't FaZe me, doesn't bother me.
They served our country with honor distinction. I would not

(38:14):
change it. But I also respect the right of pete
hag Seth to change it. He's the Secretary of Defense.
He works under President Donald Trump, who was re elected
as the forty seventh President of the United States, who
campaigned on being against some of these things because of

(38:39):
how excessive the left was in going overboard with its
behavior to highlight and elevate prominently the causes of a
fringe segment.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Of our population.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
In this case, the word fringe doesn't apply because I
understand there's a lot of members out there, millions upon
members of members of LGBTQ plus community, and I would
not change it.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
I support their rights, their civil liberties. I don't think
they should be arased. I don't think they should be bothered.
I think they should be free to live their lives.
But as a black.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Man, ladies and gentlemen, we come out of the womb
not being liked. We come out of the womb having
an uphill battle and an uphill climb because of resistance
to acceptance of who we are. And that's just based
off the color of our skin. Now who you are
is who you are, and folks debate back and forth,

(39:36):
or you're born this way, you're not born. So I
ain't getting into all of that. What I'm saying is,
in a lot of situations, most people wouldn't know until
you tell us or show us.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Black folks don't have that luxury.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
We have to deal with those challenges every single day.
So being liked and being embraced, while it would be
idea and beautiful and it would bring peace and dissipate
stress in our life and our souls and our minds,
the bottom line is we have to accept the fact

(40:10):
that some people are gonna be racists, some people are
gonna be prejudiced, some people just ain't gonna like us,
some people ain't gonna have any problem with us, but
don't necessarily want to vibe with us. And then some
people are gonna like us, and some people are gonna
brace us more than others, and some people are gonna
love us.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
It all comes with it. It all comes with it.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
The relevancy of that comment by me, that's soliloquy, that
diet tribe, whatever world you want to use, by me
is simply pointing out that if an administration gets elected
and they're against some of those things because they believe
that the progressive left went overboard and trying to highlight
and big up a certain community of this population, and

(40:48):
they are against that. Once they're in position of power,
they get to do what they choose. Just like the
left name the us NS Harvy Milk. If somebody else
wants to rename it, it's their administration.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
That's what they could do. We might not like it,
but it ain't a crime. That's not how they flow.
You don't like it, make sure they don't get elected
next time.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Make sure your causes on the fringes don't usurp the
vast majority of Americans' interests, so they'll vote the way
you want them to vote, so you could get some
of the things you want. That's how it works.

Speaker 1 (41:34):
That's how it.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Works in a democracy. You don't like it, get over it.
That's the way it is. That's the way it is. Now,
before I get on out of here, there is a
story that I couldn't wait to tackle because I'm not
gonna lie to you. I was kind of disgusted when

(41:57):
I saw it. Corinne On Pierre switches her affiliation to Independent,
releasing a new book about a broken Biden White House.
She is the former White House Press secretary. If you
will recall, ladies and gentlemen, she has consistently or she
had consistently consistently decried the notion that President Biden was

(42:23):
not up to the rigors of the job. Longtime Democratic
Party operative suddenly is urging Americans to step outside harsh
party lines, and her new book Independent a look inside
a broken White House outside the party lines.

Speaker 1 (42:39):
According to the book's.

Speaker 2 (42:39):
Description, The description also says the former Biden press secretary
didn't come to the decision about leaving the party lightly
quote until January twentieth. I was responsible for speaking on
behalf of the President of the United States, she said
in a statement according to the Associated Press, at noon
on that day, I became a private citizen who, like
all Americans and many of our our around the world,

(43:01):
had to contend with what was to come next for
our country. I determined that the danger we face as
a country requires freeing ourselves of boxes.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
We need to be.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Willing to exercise the ability to think creatively and plan strategically.
Hold On, Hold On, not so fast. And I'm fully
aware that she was also a source for Jake Tapper
in his book Original Sin with Alex Thompson. You remember
I interviewed them last week. Hold on for second. Carange

(43:33):
Jean Pierre, You're absolutely right. Nothing that you said as
the White House Press secretary should be held against you,
Just like I came on here and said, or I
came on other shows like The Handities of the World
and others, and I said, what the hell was Kamala

(43:53):
Harris supposed to do when she was the VP dying
Biden out? She wasn't gonna tell on her boss stop it?

Speaker 1 (43:58):
What the hell was she supposed to do?

Speaker 2 (44:00):
Just like I said that, I would say the same
thing about Karne Jean Pierre. What was she supposed to
do as the White House Press secretary. She's supposed to
sit up there and come out and tell the American people, Yo, y'all,
he don't have it, he can't go he he just
don't have it.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
What was she supposed to do? That's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (44:21):
However, Karine Jean Pierre, you were not the White House
Press Secretary when you showed up on ABC's The View
a couple of months ago, you were talking major stuff.
Then you were not the White House Press Secretary. You
were an American citizen who was not working in the

(44:44):
White House. What the hell you're going to show for
then Bouvier in about Joe Biden and how he was
alert and he was pride, and he was a great
commander in chief and he was shocking.

Speaker 1 (45:00):
And all of this stuff.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
I don't have to clip in front of me because
I just saw the story. You're lucky I don't have
time to pull it up. But I'm fully aware of
the fact that you were not the White House Press
Secretary when you were on the view spewing the same
stuff you had spewed when you were the White House

(45:20):
Press secretary.

Speaker 1 (45:22):
So all bets are off.

Speaker 2 (45:26):
You didn't have to do that, but you chose to
live with your decisions. Living with your decisions. You didn't
have to do that, but that's what you chose to do.
You chose to go front center and still spew the
same party line.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
So what the book's gonna tell us. The book's gonna
tell us more.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
About the Democrats, the Butcher's The book gonna be an
extension of Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson's book Original Sin.
You had another Democrat coming out and telling us about.

Speaker 1 (46:04):
Stuff that a whole bunch.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
Of stuff on the right was telling us. But y'all
swore we shouldn't listen to while y'all were engaging in
cancel culture, while y'all were engaging in excoriating anybody that
caught the Democratic Party out for what the hell was
going on. That's what we're supposed to do, now, that's
what we're supposed to do.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
You're supposed to.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
Listen to you, now, Okay, I'll do that, gringe, Jean Pierre.

Speaker 1 (46:35):
You are more than welcome to come on to Stephen A.
Smith Show and explain.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
Your book and what it's gonna say. But not only
why we didn't hear from you while you were the
White House Press secretary, which is very understandable, but how
come we didn't hear that from you afterwards? Why were
we hearing the same stuff after you left the White
House else that you were saying while you were in

(47:04):
the White House. Can't wait for an answer to that question.
I got several others too.

Speaker 1 (47:11):
If you're so.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Willing to come on, more than happy to have you.
I'm a respectful man, was raised by five beautiful, strong
black women. You are obviously a beautiful, strong black woman
as well. But it doesn't mean I don't have questions.

Speaker 1 (47:32):
Just so you know, I.

Speaker 2 (47:33):
Got to get on out of here to cover the
NBA Finals, so I'll be leaving. I'll be on ABC
covering the NBA Finals throughout the NBA Finals in Oklahoma
City and then in Indianapolis.

Speaker 1 (47:45):
So y'all will see me soon enough.

Speaker 2 (47:47):
Okay, I got the Oklahoma City winning the NBA Finals
in six games. I think their defense is to elite.
I think Shay Gilges Alexander is a superstar. I think
him and Jalen Williams. Jalen Williams remember his back court
bade him. J Williams and Evan Mobley for the Cleveland
Cavaliers are the only two players in the NBA this
year that made the All NBA Team plus the All
NBA Defensive Team. That's who they are. Their defense is

(48:11):
something special. They get up in you and Tyre's Halliburton,
the engine that stirs the cup for the Indiana Paceers,
is going to have the work of his lifetime cut
out for him. I think Rick Carlos brilliance as a
coach Indiana, utilizing a zone defense and compromising okc's offense
could bode well for them for a couple of games,

(48:32):
but not the series. I believe OKAC is gonna be
too much for them. I'd be shocked if they won
this series. If they lost this series, I'm sorry to Indiana.
I respect the hell out of Indiana. They were the
better team than the New York Knicks. They deserve to
be in the NBA Finals. Halliburton is not overrated. He's
a stud.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
Pascal Siakam is a champion.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
Miles Turner, nim Nemhard Nie Smith, these brothers can ball.
TJ McConnell, the Little Engine that Could, got number love
for him. But these pacers, I believe, are not on
the same level as OKCE. Re caller is gonna have
to put some pull something out that his had to
pull this one off, and I think he can do

(49:12):
it for a couple of games.

Speaker 1 (49:14):
But not four. I got OKC and six six six.

Speaker 2 (49:24):
That's it for this edition to Steph Nate Smith Show.
Next time you see me on it will be live
from Oklahoma City. Until then, piece of love, everybody, I
gotta go
