Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yes, Yes, I am Dramas And this is the Street
Stoic Podcast, bring you your daily dose of time, the
Stoic Philosophy remix for the hip hop generation. We are
combined in ancient Stoic philosophy with lyrics and quotes and
some of the greatest to ever grace a microphone. Now,
with that in mind, let's get things started with your
daily shot of inspiration.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Now today, we've been focusing all around the Stoic.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Idea of gratitude and we have a quote from Miss
Lauren Hill, and she says, everything we do should be
a result of our gratitude for what God has done
for us. And doesn't matter if you are a religious
person you believe in God or not. Insert the word
universe instead of God creator, whatever makes sense for you.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
But what's important is the message in itself.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
The message in itself is about moving from a place
of appreciation. Like when you are in a good mood
and then you go out into the world, you might
be more inclined to tip a little bit extra, you
might be inclined to throw a few smiles somebody's way.
You're going to hold the door open for them, right,
It's this idea of when we can really get to
a place where we're constantly just grateful for life itself,

(01:34):
the gift of being here, the gift of having another
day to go at it.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Right, when we can.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Get to a place of constantly recognizing that, we then
allow it to control the way that we move in
this world and the way that we interact with others,
and the energy that we put out there, and possibly
the things that we create for others.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Right. And this leads to a quote from one of
the stokes, Marcus Aurelius, where he.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Says, all you need are these certainty of judgment in
the present moment, action for the common good in the
present moment, and an attitude of gratitude in the present
moment for anything that comes your way. And I love
particularly the line that says action for the common good

(02:17):
when you are already happy with where you are, who
you are, you feel like you have enough, You're not
looking to then take advantage of anybody else in this world. Right,
when you are coming from a place of fulfillment, you're
not operating from a place of lack. Therefore you are
looking to give. Right, your cup is overflowing. I think

(02:37):
we forget that while we all have our own little
worlds that exist, you know, here on this planet, and
we all exist in a bit of a bubble in
our own homes, in the privacy of our own homes,
we all are sharing this floating.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Rock throughout space.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Right.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
We are all.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Citizens sharing in this. We are roommates in the greater
world itself. And we need to begin to act awardingly
right and view each other as that and do our
best to give back to the world rather than just
sort of having this this mentality that there's not enough
to go around and we need.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Just this take take, take right.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Whereas if you're grateful for all that you have in
this world, in this life, you're gonna see as people
sort of get into your orbit, they are going to
be looking for reasons to be around you. You're going
to attract more and more possibility. But it starts with
first and foremost just being grateful each and every day.
And for me, you know, this is how I relate,
you know, on such a deep level. What's where I've

(03:34):
really kind of invested in my life. You know, my
mindset is to be somebody who is of service to others,
you know, not just because I think career wise, it's
what helps you advance. Also just because I want to
be a good person who leaves a positive mark on
this world. Right. I know that I've been blessed with

(03:55):
so much, and the greatest way that I can give
back or so show my gratitude is in fact by
giving back. And the point being here is that when
you are allowing yourself to move from a place of
fulfillment and gratitude and that you want to just give
away something positive to others, it is always going to

(04:15):
benefit you at the end of the day. And I
think that's sort of the mindset that we all.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Have to adapt. Rather than just being so quick to want.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
To get the short win or to take take take right,
be grateful for what you already have, feel fulfilled in
the present moment because of that gratitude, and just keep giving,
and you'll watch as all the things you've ever wanted
will begin to find their way to you if they
haven't already. Now we have heard from miss Lauren Hill,
We've heard from one of the Stokes, Marcus Relius. I've
kind of given you my own mindset into this life

(04:45):
of service that I've devoted myself to Now let's talk
about how you can make it you're a mantra for today.
But first let's take a quick break and then we'll
be quite back. Now, today we're talking all about gratitude.

(05:07):
We have heard the words of Lauren Hill, one of
the Stokes, Marcus Aurelius, my own insight into this idea
of moving from a place of gratitude. Now, let's talk
about how you can make it your mantra for today.
And I think it starts with a question, right, what
can I give? And I think when you move from

(05:28):
that place what can I give? You are always going
to attract some sort of positivity, be it a good
feeling within yourself for just doing a good deed, or
attracting positive people or positive situations into your orbit, just
because it's what you're putting out there. Again, it's all
of us, no matter where we are in life, recognizing

(05:51):
the blessing that it is to just be here, to
just exist where we exist, to be born where we've
been born, to be living where we're living. Right, all
that had to happen for us to be in whatever
situation we're in now, even if it's not where we
want to be. I can guarantee you that it is
better than somebody else's situation out there. Right, all of

(06:11):
us are blessed in some sort of way. Therefore, we
should all be moving from a place of gratitude and
allow that gratitude to fill your cup, allow that gratitude
to motivate you to put positivity out there into this world. Right,
kind of recapping all we've been talking about. Like Lauren
Hill's quote, everything we do should be a result of
our gratitude for what God has done for us.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Again, interchange God with the universe.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Whatever works for you if you're not a religious person,
But when you begin to move from a place of
just being so thankful that you have what you have,
it allows you to make decisions with far more clarity,
with better intentions. In mind, you're not moving from a
place of desperation, right, You are truly just moving from
a place of happiness when you recognize just how much

(06:59):
you have to be thankful for in the present moment.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
And what Marcus areally.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Is one of the Stokes talks about the action for
the common good in the present moment. Right, Moving from
a place of wanting to make the current space that
you're in as pleasurable as humanly possible.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Right.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
I think that is sort of the idea of what
he is is talking about, right, and having an attitude
of gratitude in the present moment for anything that comes
your way, big or small. Everything is a blessing and
we have to be moving from that place. And the
more that we recognize, the more that we stop to

(07:38):
count our blessings, the more that we're going to realize
that our cup is in fact overflowing and we have
so much more to give to others. And for me personally,
this is how I try to move and it's part
of the reason as to why I'm getting to live
the life that I am right now, because I don't
try and do things for the sake.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Of my own greed.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
I'm always trying to help people out along the way,
and it's put so many other blessings in my place.
And I think it's also why I've been able to
connect with people in the way that I have. I'm
not looking to sort of aggrandize myself as anything special.
I'm genuinely sitting here trying to help other people because
that's what makes me feel good and it makes me

(08:17):
and I understand that me putting more positivity out there
into the universe is only going to bring it back
to me tenfold. So again, it's allowing gratitude to make
you understand that your cup is already full and if
you can allow that cycle to continue by moving from
a place of gratitude and recognition that you have everything
you need right now. Now, with that said, thank you

(08:38):
so much for checking out the Street Stoke Podcast. Do
your best to apply these concepts that we discussed into
everyday life, and.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
I will catch you next time.
