Speaker 1 (00:00):
Trap Nerds tramp real like you never heard in this piece.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to another exciting episode of the
Trap Nurse Podcast. We are back when this piece, man
really good.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I can't do that very good. I can't do that
right the second time. Just cut that way, just cutting
that bitch in and.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Then maybe we can do that.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
I don't remember ship.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I just said, how you guys doing. How's your week? Man?
How was your time off? And how was a week?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (00:32):
I was sleep or at work?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Another ben kicking it well, you know that moment when
you get to the end of a game and realize
you did not train yourself enough for the end game.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
I'm there on here about it now.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
So I'm kind of op as hell with no potions
or nothing, trying to just raw dog the final battle.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Not working, just not working. So I went back.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
I'm doing some you know, slight side missions another than that.
That's just I ain't really been doing nothing working on
the PC. I've been on fire on the switch. We
got Elgen Ring DLC coming, so it's like, I think
it's time to go and just pull that.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
I got it.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
I got the actual discs, So it's like I just
look in the closet.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Like I need to get fire emblem now that I'm
team switched.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
It's there because you've been.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Talking about Hey, if I my ship, it's like my
It's like my anime chests basically with a great heart
felt slightly slightly Japanese anime dating sim but it's a
tactical just like Walter game.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
On top of all of it, it's just it's greatness.
I love on the game.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Shot everybody on Twitch that just with you boys, ain't
nothing just been going down.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
I'll be kicking ready to get back to this ship. Pepper,
who forget about it.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I could think of Italian.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
It's been good, but I also have to leave our
show with something. We need to have reviews.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Please.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
I know people tune out at the end of the
show so they don't hear it when we ask for reviews.
You love or hate us, let us know. Well, we
accept criticism because we will talk shit.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
You know what. We do accept criticism because there's a
guy on our YouTube page that said we were jokes.
But he said he's from the UK, so I didn't
care about what he said. I'm dead wait for real. Yeah,
at least from the UK, so nobody gives a ship
so I don't read YouTube. We do accept our criticisms,
(02:35):
so yeah, give us a review. We don't care.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
So this week I finished what was that anime?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I finished?
Speaker 5 (02:43):
I don't remember now. I finished The Eternal's Secret, ending
that game. That game is.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Something Wait wait wait you said.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
Returnal Yeah, I finished, I did the secret, I got
that you got the hell wait?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
So okay, so yeah, wait what happened? I didn't get
the secret in it. I just beat that big based
in and just had controller down like newp.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
Well, it's just instead of like talking about helios, it's
really like a symbolism for a child, and uh, it's okay,
just it's really abstract. It's like really abstract, and it's
it's more like it's almost the symbolism. Yeah that's yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
And then you don't explain the symbolism. You just walk off.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Yeah no, they yeah, exactly. They leave you to be like, well,
what did you think? And I was like, hmmm, I
don't know, but I'm uncomfortable.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
And that's exactly how I left. I was like, bro,
so confused.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
I love this game so much, but what the fuck
is actually going on?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (03:42):
I will say I was. The only disappointing thing I
have to say about Returnal is the difficulty. I was
told it would take me a long time, and I
once shot the whole second half of the game twice.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
It's like, once you get the rhythm of everything, because
it's like with each enemy, you know, they all got
their like ticks and ship, so it's like you can't
once you just get everybody, like that's how they move.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
You know exactly when to just dodge and you know dash.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Yeah, I definitely had more trouble when I'm like right
in the first zone when you don't have that, I
mean when you have dash, Well, we don't have some
of the stuff, right, because.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Once you get to the desert and ship, you should.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Be all right.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
Yeah, I think actually, I think that's the game's probably
biggest twelve is they make you a little too strong,
too fast. But that's just me. I mean, I've been
playing games for too long, you know, so my experience
has clearly been different from the general, as Eli says,
the normy population. We just built different man, and I
(04:47):
can't remember that. I tried this whole time to remember
the anime I finished this week and I.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Started doing drugs, you stop doing all the myth you
remember the stuff. I feel like that was kind of
racist that you assume that he do myth.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Man.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
No, he's Mexican, so it's.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Not I don't even know what to say. I'm just
gonna wait, wait, I have so many questions. But and
y'all know my ignorant. I'm just gonna hey, I'm ignorant, y'all,
So I just learning new stuff.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
So Great Pretender, I'm just gonna ignore him. The Great.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Loomer.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Hey, I heard many good things about this anime. It's
about a connor, a professional con artist, and uh, I'm
be honest. The ending was a little weaker than then.
I was sold on, and I think that was the problem.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
It was.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
It was okay, though, if you if you, if you
want something to kill the time, I definitely recommend The
Great Pretender on Netflix. My next venture is the record
of Ragnarrock. I'm I'm I'm like, I'm on the third Fight.
So I watched I'm not gonna lie when I started
that show, probably like a month and a half ago,
(05:57):
but I fell off because I felt like the fight,
the very first one with Thorn LOOPU was kind of
really slow. Yeah, and so when I was watching, I
was like, man, this sucks.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
It's one of the it's a build the moment, it's slow.
It's like the fights so lit, but it's like, I
don't know, it's like everything progress a little bit slow
to me.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
But when I came back to it, when I came
back to a couple of weeks ago, I was like,
you know, I'm gonna give it another chance. I'm gonna
go through, try to get a little further. And then
I got to Adam versus Zeus and I was so
I was sold.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
It's like the best fights for the end.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
But it's like they still didn't want to get rid
of their regular fights that they had, so they just
threw most of them in the beginning. But then that's
that's the fight when it just kind of like, Okay,
we're just going for a throttle with these fights now,
because wow, I got potential for a Netflix anime.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Yeah, So that's where I'm at right now. It's a
good week. I watched Creed three. We're gonna talk about it,
and it's great.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Eli.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
I caught up all the way on Vilain Saga. Really, Hey,
it's a it's a it's a real hard swing from
what at the end of season one to season two.
It's a real hard swing, character swing stuff. So it
feels like a totally different show from season one from
season two. So I'm trying. I'm gonna going to see
what season two go. So far, it hasn't ramped up.
It's kind of been kind of slow in season two.
(07:22):
So we see how that goes. When I caught up
in that up also, see we're gonna talk about that.
Really enjoyed it, So we're gonna talk about that. I said, Man,
just been waiting for the show to come back. Man
taking it easy, sitting back playing Valorie. Man might hop
on some rainbow six seeds later. So yeah, that's it.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Wait, its siege on game passed it is.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
I just got it from Steve.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Got the version.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
I got the luck version for nine dollars.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
Oh yeah, this is on sell. Yeah that's on cell
right now.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
You Yeah, no dots. Well, my week was good. Picture
what you really look like on the Instagram?
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Now? Fuck it. I was gonna say this on mine,
but Tony should.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I just kid whatever? Tony whatever? No, week was good.
It's a great week. I had a lot of fun
I've been on the switch. Pokemon talked too much. They
talked too much in the Pokemon game Welcome to the
Dark Side. They do it. It's like it's stuff that
like they should have an option for you not to
have to go through the same generic stuff that you've
(08:29):
been through on every single Pokemon game that you can playing.
You need literally nine yeah, that what I'm saying, Like
I already know what a Pokemon is, and you know
I was about to start taking the theme and ship.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
You know, they did as make it for like people
who have known.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
It's like every Pokemon game is a Pokemon game for
somebody that has never played a Pokemon game.
Speaker 5 (08:53):
That's why he says they need like a veteran mode that.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Would be nice, just get through this bullshit. But you
know Nintendo was lazy nothing to do that.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
And Dre is afraid for me like to demolish him
on Mario Kart. But I've been playing Mario Kart, but.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Every time you hit me, if I'll be doing either,
you hit me a mid stream while I'm getting at
the fucking.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Like you know me, the courts, I gotta switch up.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
I'm literally like Goku in the hyperbolic time chamber. Right
now on Mario Kart, I've.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
Been hit up, sad see just let her ass just humble.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
You let me see.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I know since she hit probably he will also humble
your bitch jass too. We have other friends with Mario
cart nigga.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
I'm gonna see who Mario because I'll be playing the
mugg and nobody.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Kirk that Kurt Pool. You might win.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
No, I know I'll be getting third place quite a bit.
So I know I'm moving up in the ranks because.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
You know, if you hop online and you see a
nigga from Korea hopping your ship.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
You not. They always want the Japanese one in the Koreans,
the ones always like you get.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
You might if you catch Jean like faballing a little
race with Japanese players, you might make it in Koreat.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
Do not play.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
I played at the Mario Kart on the phone dolls,
and so you'd always race people's bots because at the
time they didn't have the real multiplayer, and uh, you
get a bot from fucking Japan or something, they just
just it's over. You're done.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Niggas op as fucks man.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
They built different over there, man, But I thought, bruh,
you and Bak who kept was still looking at and
y'all was not moving.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
I said to stop, like, wait, did I freeze?
Speaker 2 (10:35):
I thought, yeah, I was looking at my computer thing.
I thought my thing was on my thing. But yeah, no,
the week's been good. Uh yeah, I'm gonna see John
Jones return to the octagon tonight or check that out. Yah,
he's gonna get see her game, so I can't wait
to see who's gonna win. What else? Got a couple
of shows coming up from announcement at the end of
the show. Other than that, just been chilling. Oh, I thought,
(10:56):
I finally bought the eventsible one and two of the
ath novels that I had, I finished three. I finally
about one and two, so I'm gonna start those next.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
Liz said, fuck you at shut up, you finished three
but didn't read one and two?
Speaker 2 (11:10):
No, because I couldn't find I couldn't find one and two. Yeah, yeah,
I couldn't find one and two, so I, uh, but
three kind of picks up almost right after what's on
the regular TV show, so that's why I was able
to keep along. We all to go to a quick break,
but when we come back Creed. After this, we're back
from doing nothing. Eli go Ahead. Three Three came Back
(11:31):
came out this week and we went to side and
we have a view on the third movie of the trilogy,
and we're gonna tell y'all if it hold up to
the first two movies or not, if this is a
good ending to the trilogy or not, because I'm pretty
sure this seemed like it's the last movie. It seemed
like it's the last movie. Now they shouldn't do a Creed.
For the way they end it, I think it's a
perfect end. I think it's a perfect ending for the trilogy.
But still dominating the boxes world. Dunn, his Creed is
(11:55):
thriving in his career and family life. When Damon and
Chahood friend and farmer boxing prodigy resurfaces after seven time
in prison, He's eager to prove that he deserves his
shot in the ring. The face off between fuming friends
is more than just a fight to settle the score
of Donnis.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Musk put his future online to battle Damon, a fighter
who has nothing to lose. Man Got Michael B. Jordan
Man Junathan Majors did an amazing job in this movie.
I'm just gonna say, man, this yeah, yeah, how long
is this after two? What you mean like a timeline
two thousand? Like it was just like like a long
ass time as been some.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Years and some years like five ish.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Or like.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
They said they had a date. I can't get. I
can't get the exact date though, because twenty seventeen was
when that last fight happened in movie right there? Yeah, yeah,
I think it was.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
I think the last fight they showed in the beginning
was twenty eighteen, So it is four or five years
five years okay, fur five.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Years after that fight though, But but after the first movie,
it's longer than that because the first movie ended before that,
so it's probably like six or seven years, I mean
after the six movie.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
So it's like simple it was like what twelve thirteen is.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
So after the second movie is about probably like sixty
seven more years after the second movie.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
So okay, because he's older, he way older. Oh okay,
his daughter was older too, yeah, so he so he
like his he probably like his mid thirties in this movie.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
That's why I'm good.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
That's why all right, Okay, I can see what right now?
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah. Jonathan Majors, Michael B. Jordans, Tessa Thompson, Man Canelo
errors was in this movie out of nowhere.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Man made a little cameo in it. But this movie,
man got a lot of heart to me, Man, the
storyline is simple. It gets to the point. Man, it
makes sense. The storyline makes sense. It's not like one
of fake storylines that's out there. Because Creek too. It's
a good movie. But the Drago son thing, it's kind
of out there. All that stuff's kind of out there.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
But then fucked me up was the white the whole
wife thing and how they just disgrace the fun out
of Drago because he lost.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, this this movie is more grounded to me.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
Man.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
So Xavier, you've seen the movie, man, get me your
favorite and least favorite part of the movie. My favorite
part was, of course. I did like when that girl
when the daughter punched that girl in the face, but
not a fight scene at the end, when everything went
away and it was just him and Jonathan Major's in
the middle of the ring fighting. That's that's good. That
that was nice. I like that. What I didn't like
(14:19):
is like, I mean, that's kind of unrealistic, unrealistic, Like
what's realist? Guy getting right out of prison? Did he
get a tighter shot that quick? But then okay, wait wait,
let me let it out, Let it out, Let it out.
My bad. But then, like I said, I went back
and watched Rocky and it was basically the same praiers.
(14:39):
I was okay.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
So was.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Because he was like, I go ahead, Yeah, what was
the like, how did like Jonathan Maze I saw it
was like they used to be friends and the okay,
And he went to jail.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
But before before he got before he met a Creed wife,
before he mad crew Rife Dune before a Dune's made
Free Rife. He was in a group home and Majors
Major's character Dame was his best friend, his brother in
the group home.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
So when they got older, when they got older, they
were still hanging out.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
He was a golden good box and he was going
doing underground fights and stuff. He had a gun with
he had a gun with him. Uh Major's Dame, he
had a gun with him.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Done with So he just made like the reason like
besides the Creed day and ship he was real just
got him in and just boxing body.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Yeah yeah yeah. So so they went to this store
and the dude who was in the group home. Over
the group home they used to beat them. Was at
the store.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Oh okay now, and Donnis rolled up on him, knocked
him out, started beating them. Some other dudes jumped in
to try to stop a dunn This then beat a DOUNI.
Then Dame pulls out the gun. When he pulls out
the gun, the police shows up. Dunnis gets away and
Dan Dang gets caught because he got priors.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
You know, for in the hood, got mine.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
So he the nigga already on the ground, beat the
fuck up.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Yeah, and they put him again for he got a
jiffu dumb position. I think eighteen years or something like that. Yeah,
got life. He got eighteen years old. No, it was adult.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Ohso this like when they're like seventeen.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Is he like sixteen seventeen Donnis was Donna's was young
than him, so he like done with like fifteen.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Okay, So yeah, that's why you said that, like mid
thirties right now. So he just got out.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Yeah, so he just got out. He just got out.
He's still in shaping all this stuff. So that's what
the story goes. He asked me, asked me, I just
want to I just want to fight, So he invites
him to the gym to fight and stuff to spat
with the champion, the Headway champion right now because Jamp
trains at the gym, and that's where the story gets
off from there.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Because that's how I didn't like beat just straight like
oh like low key like Broley his ass real quick.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
He learned fro jail house moves. I'm just gonna say
that he learned how thirty. So that's how he be champion.
So that's what happens. Okay, Tony, what's your favorite least
favorite part of the move.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
My favorite was when he pieced up. He pieced them
up like that. Man, that's great. Honestly, I hate to
say it, but I think, uh, it's kind of the
same spot as Exavier that I really liked, and I
also really liked I saw the Dempsey roll in there
from from Hogu Mento Etho.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Yeah, bro I did see.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
They had, like I hear people saying there was like
a lot of like anime reference, give me like too
strong when Joab saw.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
The one telling was talking about. And plus uh he
puts some dragon ball Z stuff in there too. So
wait you see the movie, you'll see he put some
d go ahead before the dragon hit me with the one,
so I know it's it's in the fights.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
Did they fight scene? Did they hit the classic go
Coop and Gita polls?
Speaker 2 (17:48):
And they was on the rocks? Now there's not no posing.
Then you'll see next week after you see the movie.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I want you to come back and tell me if
you notice the which one if you can notice it
the off fan but.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
They didn't hold. But the fight scenes in the choreography
was really really good. I think it's the best of
the three. It is, it is.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
It is the best I think I've seen in the
boxing movie ever.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
You could follow everything. It's so good. It feels real.
I don't know how they did this. They made it.
They made it feel like like the motions of the I.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Wish boxing like this was really as exciting as this.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
So I feel like it was Lokate real boxing mats
right now. It was good.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
It was good. Bro.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
There was a moment in the fight where I instinctively
wanted to yell out there you go. You know, you're
you're like really yeah, you're really rooting for creed Man.
It's so good. It makes you feel, it makes you
feel it just.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
To let y'all know how to get to the fight,
how they start fight each other first. He wants a
title shot, and Creeds like, I can't give you that,
y man. You never fought a professional fight before. That
was realistic with it. That's like a hey, all dance
battle you right.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Now, Snacks, don't don't tell. Don't tell, Jamie. I'm opening
up for.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
You exactly what Cree feels guilty because he wanted to.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Because Cree feel like he owes him because he ran
away from the situation and got away, and he feels
he guilty.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
He didn't write him back, He didn't write him or
get a touch to him. Stuff. His mom here, Dang was.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Sitting I took the l for you, but then you
ain't even fucking me at all.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Dan was sitting him and send him letters and stuff,
but his mom never gave to it. Because you want
him to get over it, I want him to move past.
But Creed never made a never made.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Any effort to actually like reach out to him though.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
The same he said he was trying to forget what
he was trying to forget it ever happened, stuff like that, But.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
You can't be doing that all right this No, this
is the all right hood niggas they get money. It's
like it's a level like don't end up cragging, letting
your homeworks, I ask you out. But at the same time,
don't feel like bruh, like all right, this is a
real lass more like even though like even though like
we get money for like bro, even though like we
do all this, I still go back to niggas.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Be like joy crub and all this shit.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
I still go at the Queensborough that is a that
was a white time, a white neighborhood and street report
that got gentrified like a motherfucker about black people. And
my Grandny was one of the first black people to
actually move over there and dealt with that shit, and
that nigga mixed so she called it even worse. And
it's like you can't even when I went to college
and now it's like you still gotta make sure especially
(20:38):
if you once again, this ain't like you're a civilian
as if you a hood nigga, if you're gonna do
all that, I represent where I'm from and ship put
back into your fucking community, Like nigga didn't bought fucking
computers for the damn rick in the basketball.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Court that got robbed.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
But I still have you know, the actual factors I
put back into my community that didn't help to put
money into down the library and shit and queens and ship.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
He got shut the fuck down ship. It didn't work,
but hey, a nigga tried.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
So if you go, you know, that's one of the
mothers to like, if you go, if you get success,
like remember where you came from at times, because you know,
those weird ass motherfuckers that went ship, they still remember
you and that's the reason you are the person you
are today, I guess.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
But if they fuck nigga fucked them though real ship
dot remember that.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
So going back to how the fight happens, Uh, he
the champion gets his hands broken. He gets attacked and
gets his hands. Oh I caught that so quickly. I
was like, like, you see, so they.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Like came and the mafia got his, didn't not the.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Champion, I mean drag Drago Drago Drago song to fight
the champion and Drago Son got his.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
Drag Son come back. Yeah, he got his hand broken,
and so they have nobody mafia, the Russian mafia got
his as.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
They had no way to fight. They have no way
to fight them. No want her for him to fight
because Dragon's gonna take six months for him to fight again.
So out of the pinch, they let Dange fight and
Dame gave him the old man, old man strength business
in the ring, takes him out jail house beat his ass,
takes him out Creed. Kreed's mother gets the letters you get.
She shows to me, like, how can you do this
(22:19):
to me? Man? He reached out to me and you
it's your fault and she slaps a picture down and
the dude who breaks broke drag ahead was in jail
with him, was jail.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
So basically he said him to break hands all part
of the plan and.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
They get it.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Ship It's like bro I got like fux home boys,
Like I just had to stare him like they just
not built. I mean like it's just not all up
to that. They're good people at at heart, but it's
like the hood took him under. But it's like one
of them. You sometimes you know how people like avoid
them crazy ass niggas.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Sometimes you can be that one person that asked he
stuff's crazy ass niggas And.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Because I didn't have a home, but like that that
doesn't just like send letters and ship, and it was
like dead ass.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
He is in there a while and losing his ship,
and he already is missing ship, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
So now it's like, damn if he if Cree would
have actually just wrote back to one of those ships,
one of them letters, he.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Might have just not just came out just wild and
like that with their mind frame. They get it to
a little scrap on the beach. They get and he
he pieces creed up on the beach, give him, give
him a one hit a quitter to the face, and
he goes back home to Bianca. They talk about it.
He might him, yeah did he just did he just
they make the decision. He got a fighter man for
(23:41):
the belt. So that's how the fights fight happened.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Can't give me, you can't get like, you can't literally
get half that nigga hit him with a sex on
the beach.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
My least, my least favorite part was probably how he
let him get away with all those underhanding things for
so long, because I feel like he picked up on
it pretty early, like even during the sparring.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Match, and so it's one of them he saw from
like the beginning that it's like, Okay, he can fight,
but he is fighting really dirty as fuck.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
He got a chip on the show.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
He just wanted to right. It's like because it's like
you canna understand, niggas, this guy got that rage. But
then it's like you had it. What it's something else
behind that.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
I mean, I understand, you know, he was eating up
by guilt and he was kind of just letting stuff slide.
But I feel like he could he should have noticed,
or I feel like he did notice, and I know
he should have.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
He should have been got on his ass a long
time ago before this ship escalated to this point.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Moment you commentate, you like you saw the movie too,
God let me go.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
That's how that's how a funny ship. This is like
how I analyze scripts and ship. Like when I got
to read the script, like saying I'm doing a play
and I gotta like read it, I don't be like
who am I?
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Then I'm just reading through it and be like damn,
so wait, so why did he do it like that?
What was what made him do that?
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Ship? Like that? I got, I got, like I got
three things I really liked about the move. First, it
was controversy at the beginning, but I liked that Rocky
That's Vesta alone wasn't in this movie. It felt it
felt like a different type movie and it feels like
the same old Rocker movie. To me, felt different. The
story was different and it felt like.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
A controversial thing about it.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Really.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
That was first online like a lot of people don't
like he said he wasn't gonna go see it. But
that was like a big, big yeah, a lot a
lot of people would like, like Rocky in the movie
because he because it's Creed has really just been Rocky movies.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I'm just gonna be on the switch. They did be
Rocky movie. But this felt different to me, it felt different.
I really liked that the.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Movie, like what it made, this one hit different.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Michael Jordan, you did an amazing job.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
Man.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
I'm gonna say you did a good job. Man. I
like what you did. Man, I like your I liked
your thoughts and everything you put in there. Man.
Speaker 5 (25:53):
I thought, uh, I thought Rocky died second.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
He was in the hospital, but he didn't.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
He got he moved closer to his son. Yeah, but
that's that's one thing.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Like sick there, Like the fight scenes amazing, man, really amazing,
really really good.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
You can follow everything. Wasn't shaky cam everywhere, wasn't ten
thousand cups every five seconds? You can you can follow everything.
I really like to fight. Third thing, the acting was
amazing in this to me, man, it was the best
out of all three of the Cream moves. The actor
really Mike could be Joining and Jonathan make Yoah, some
good actors, man, mikeauld Joining, ain't you acting is good
in a while, though, So this is this is the
best actor Johnsy might be. This is a black panther.
(26:32):
I got a joke.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
I got a joke right after that.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Before I say this one, I was looking at like
the YouTube, like you know, how to do a little
by something behind the scenes. A lot of the other
thing I can't respect too. I'm gonna go see it,
y'all know. I look at it late because I've dedicated
myself to gaming. But I will go see it. If
everybody has just been like that ship.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
But I saw like a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Nothing I was gonna. I was about to mess with you,
but I'm not. I'm gonna leave you alone. Go ahead,
you know now I want to hear it.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Now it's how you got my train of thought, But
I just want to make sure this is the test finish.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Man, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead with the thought I.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Did, my man, But I was gonna say, like, looking
at it, like behind the scenes, a lot of them
fight scenes it is actually one takes to like you
know how, like they'll do like five, like a good
minute and then cut it. Now a lot of them
was like a good three to five minutes and then
like straight and then they cut it in between. I
love when it like that's one of my when fights.
(27:33):
I love long one take fight scenes back to back.
It's either if you're gonna do like one of them
long fight scenes, one take that bitch, or hey, I'm sorry,
just as an after that's what what happened when you
were after you're gonna have to do five of them
bitches from different angles so they could go on ahead
and cut that bitch right.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
I hate quick cuts.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
It can only be dead And I saw like, but
in the making of it was like they did hell
of like straight on one takes and I loved it
that So that's one of them.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
I got to check it out for for just for
that reason.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Going back to the acting, That was another good It's
a scene. You know, his mother has a stroke in
the movie and she's getting sick, and the scene where
she passes away and he's in there might be Jordan
some great active I felt like there's some real tears
that was coming out. Man, I almost started tearing up
in that.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
I started tearing up. I ain't gonna lie, but I
think it's my grandmother passed away in almost like the
exact same way, and so that that hit me like
really close to home. And they that's as real as
it can get what happened right there, and it hurts.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
It is a great, great acting job.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
And my favorite scene besides that one is the end
of the end of the movie where he goes in
the locker room where he at and Dame like, I
guess you did learn some thing as I was gone
and they having a conversation. They put everything to the side,
they descript everything. That was a good That was a
good scene for me at the beginning. At the end, man,
I felt like they Yeah, I felt really nice. That
was a nice route. At least everything it's nitpicked. But
(28:54):
I didn't really like the cast, know the daughter, not
that she's a bad actress.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Actually, like she just recognize she been on some ship before.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
She just didn'ok like saying you know, saying it before.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
She ain't Like, no, she just didn't.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
She didn't fit the family.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Yeah, that's that's all I'm saying. She looked at Hispanics.
But that other that I already have too many big gripes.
All give me your rated one through ten. Can I
ask one more question before we go into that? Okay,
so after the big big fight, what what was the
like resolution? Like I'm pretty sure Michael be joined one,
(29:31):
but after you know, after where it's.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Like, yeah, we just beat the ship out each other.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
But it's like you ever you ever had one of
those moments where you.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Did we get to reveal that he was King the
conqueror one of his marrieds.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
That's not you ever have a moment where you know
one of your friends is like a brother, You're like, man,
and you just got scrapped it out. You just gotta fight,
you gotta fight each other and then you're okay afterwards.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Like that's and that's why I go as you got
them crazy homeboys that are real deal. Like sometimes it's like,
you know how you got the the crazy home buddy,
Like you know he crazy. Everybody in the hood know
he crazy. So it's like and he will fight. So
it's like everybody's like, don't fuck this crazy ass. You're
you're actually the crazy homeboy that I know. And see
that's the wild shit about it. I'm not with everybody
(30:15):
that I was growing up with on DVD. That's the
closest thing to it for me exactly.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
So it's like one of them I have to stay like, brouh,
can you not shoot the house up?
Speaker 2 (30:25):
I know?
Speaker 4 (30:26):
They just was like, can you get off they grass?
Even though you were on their grass, that does not
mean you had to shoot their houseleup. Now you wait,
so now we gotta fight and that it's like.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Damn, Dre actually fought the nigga and now he's just like, hey,
what you remember it once on boom Ups?
Speaker 2 (30:42):
What the fuck y'all looking at?
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Then they do that scared everybody. It's like, yeah, sometimes
you gotta have that one crazy ass friend. You gotta
keep them in check at times. All right, one through ten,
I'm doing seven eight, I'll give it eight, Tony. It's
a strong eight. I kind of want to go see
it again.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Ship we getting eight.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
Yeah, I legitimately want to go see it again.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
I definitely gotta go keep this being there because it's late.
It's the first time, gananimous. I give it an eight
to two. I will go see this movie. I will
pay to go see this move again.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
I need to actually will go pay to see this
movie again.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
It's really good. Really, I think it's the best of
the Creed movies. Man. I was actually I was actually
entertained the whole time.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Great, now this is the first and the long ass
time there like a movie is just like just I mean,
y'all already know, like I'll be on the game all
day and if it takes a lot for me to
leave the house, so you know, if they actually say
this ship is and y'all know how I explained movies
when I actually like stuff. D y'all had, y'all, it
had my curiosity. But now y'all got my attention.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Got there. It's fun. You can bring your whole family
to it and they will get hyped. The kids will
get hyped for it because my little brother and they
was hype. It's a good move man. Good all right, savy,
But We're gonna go to a quick break. But when
we come back, dre leaving and Josh Johnson's gonna join
us after this? What all right? And we are back.
We are here with a trap NERD regular, one our
(32:05):
favorite guests to have one ever, Josh Johnson is here
with us. How you here to talk about? What's up?
Josh Man? How's it going?
Speaker 4 (32:12):
Bro?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Not much?
Speaker 6 (32:13):
I feel like I interrupted that intro. For a second,
I thought it was going to be just saying my name,
and then I realized that I stepped right on it.
You were probably about to say a bunch of nice stuff,
probably about to like list accolades and everything, about to
tee me up. Well, and then I was like, hey,
how's going? And there's no like, you know, there's no
(32:35):
amount of time that's gonna save what could have been,
because even if we started all over again, I first
of all promise I wouldn't do it a second time.
And then and then you know, I also can't promise
that it would have the same feel to it because
whatever you were about to say was about to come
from the heart. I could tell like, wasn't prepared, wasn't like,
(32:55):
you know, scripted or anything. You were about to really
speak from how you feel, and then I messed it
up and now here we are.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
I mean, I was gonna blame myself. Maybe I should
have just waited.
Speaker 6 (33:06):
No no, no, no, no no no, I really jumped
in there. Anybody listening will hear that I clearly interrupted you.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
But I'm in here with you again. Man. We love
having you on the show, and we're here to talk
about your of course, a new special up per Killing Myself.
We was watching it and I watched it twice. I
had to watch it twice, like it's really good special
thanks like how I put together the feel I have
another Compedy Center special, Well, I have another special app
like in general, just how does it feel?
Speaker 6 (33:37):
No, it's definitely a weight off like I feel. I
feel like I'm so thankful that now we can just
share it because you know, it was recorded last year
and I was doing I was preparing for it for
so long that it just feels like another chapter that
you get to share with people. So that that's That's
(33:58):
been both a relief and fun to do. Overall, I'm
just happy with how it's being received and the fact
that people are checking it out.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
It just means a lot to me.
Speaker 5 (34:10):
Man, that's that's rough. You have to wait that long
before you get and talk about it me crazy.
Speaker 6 (34:15):
Yeah, it's like it. Yeah, it's it's tough too because also,
you know, we let people know when we were shooting,
you know, so they could come to the live show
if they were in LA. But past that, it's like,
I don't know, it's fine to like involve people in
the process, you know. I think that that's part of
like why social exists, for you to follow the journey
(34:35):
of people that you enjoy. But the day to day
there wasn't much to share. It would be like I
that getting those jokes ready, it's like, all right, we're shooting.
Is the real post is like all right, hey, everybody,
come on out if you're in LA, if you want
to chill with us or anything. And then after that,
you know, you can't just really update people every day
with like editing. Oh we out here editing. You can't
(34:58):
see it yet, but we're editing.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Yeah, I feel that. So preparing and doing a specially
I'm sure it's like super tedious, like super like you know,
you know, trying waiting for that end process to get out.
Like what was like the process in building up the
set for your special, Like, you know, how long did
that take before you was like, okay, I'm ready to
put this on TV. Let's record.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
I mean it took quite a while because I went
to the director, Jacob Anachi with it a long time ago,
with the overall concept and the framework around how we
would shoot it, and and just everything everything about the
special that wasn't the jokes, and we worked that stuff
out and then we're you know, basically curating the jokes
(35:43):
based on the premise of the special, and so that's
that's one thing that did make it take a little longer.
But I do think that's good because I think that
when there's an overall theme and an overall framework that
you're working under, you create an understood language with the audience,
and then people old with you that much deeper than
if it's just an hour stuff that's funny, but like
(36:05):
from subject to subject, it has no real connection, It
has no real like rhyme or reason to it. I
think that those I mean, obviously people put out stuff
like that all the time, and it's dope and it's funny.
As long as you're being funny, people don't really care about,
you know, all the little ins and outs and everything.
I just think that sometimes a theme is stronger, you know.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah when it comes to company, that's my
favorite kind of stuff. Company with a theme, like the
old all the old ghosts did stuff like that, George
Carlin and stuff like that. So that's my favorite kind
of company. Speaking about to special, how long did it
take you to come up with this?
Speaker 6 (36:40):
How long?
Speaker 2 (36:41):
So in total?
Speaker 6 (36:42):
I think yeah, I think maybe from the day that
we shot it to coming up with the concept, because
you're also the factor in the pandemic. Yeah, so all
in all, probably like three years, because three years because
the jokes were I think workshopping the jokes took way
less time than every other aspect of like getting it ready,
(37:04):
how were we going to shoot it, like storyboarding and
that stuff. I think that that stuff all took a
while and then was obviously derailed. So then you talk
about length of time like three years, if you're talking
about actual amount of time worked on it, I'd say
like a year and a half.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Oh that's still a lot. Yeah, yeah. So I like
the aspect of it, like where you know, you're doing
your stand up in the crowd, laughing. Then it cuts
to you know, you're talking to a therapist. Was that
something that you thought of or was that something that
was like brought to you.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
Yeah, it's something that I thought of when I was
approaching Jacob with the with the overall concept and everything,
and it's something that I thought would be a good
framework for us to reset every every so often, like
not too much to where it's not a comedy special,
but just enough that you remember the crossover between the two.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
You in therapy. You do therapy still, I do it
off and on.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
Like I think, I think that there's some this is
my thing, and I'm not a therapist, so you know,
take everything I say with a pound assault. But like
I do think that it makes sense to obviously go
to therapy when you feel like you need someone to
talk to. I also think sometimes, especially for me, it
makes sense to not go if there's nothing really that
(38:24):
you need to get off your chest. Like, you know,
I think that talking to friends, having new experiences, even
talking to stranger sometimes obviously not offloading on them in
the way that you would in therapy, but just like
sometimes you'll just have an earnest conversation with somebody who
will say something that might be deep, or it might
be really interesting. They'll say something that already has you like, oh,
(38:45):
I never thought of it that way. And you can
gain so much perspective from other people and everything that
I think, when you are in a really good place
in life, sometimes it does make sense to take a
pause ongoing, you know what I mean. So it's like
I'll randomly start going or I'll randomly be like, you
know what I think. I I think I got everything
out of it that I need for the moment, and
(39:07):
I'm good. I'm gonna take a break, you know, because
not only is is is life busy, but I think
sometimes my perspective on it is every once in a while,
I'll take some time off to really think about what
we've talked about, do you know what I mean? Like like, yeah,
I think some people go as a weekly check in,
and I go to gain perspective and insight. So if
(39:27):
I've got all the insight I need on the issues
that I was dealing with, then I'm kind of good
for a while.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
You know. Yeah, I know, And I know it's kind
of getting popular to preach that you like, you should
go to therapists often, but I kind of feel that
way too. It now you don't, you don't need it
like every single day or like every every you know, consecutively,
you know, like you said, yeah, you need every once while, right.
Speaker 6 (39:52):
I think that they're just sometimes in life where I'm like, no,
I think for this whole period, I'm I'm just good,
you know, and then then out of nowhere, it won't
even be you know what it will be too. It
won't be something big happened, It'll it will actually be
something small where I'm like, I need to go. I
honestly need to go talk shit, So let me go there.
(40:12):
That's like that's at least not only a safe place
to do it, but it's the most productive place to
do it, you know, to go there and just be
petty as hell and then have someone be like.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
So why are you feeling that way?
Speaker 6 (40:25):
Like what's the you know, because if sometimes if you
take that to family or a friend, they'll either they'll
either tell you you're being petty and they won't listen,
or they'll hype you up. And the last is to
get hyped up if you already know your low key roll,
like you're being a hater. Yeah, and then they hype
you up.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Yeah, I mean yeah, well, as I was going to ask,
because you did. You talked a lot about, you know,
growing up in Louisiana, like the stuff experience is growing
up poor, Like how does it feel like you know
you're growing up in that you know it's a little
small town Louisiana And now you're in New York. You're
responding for the Daily So you got two specials out,
(41:02):
Like how does it feel to make that jump and
like to you know, to be where you're at now?
Speaker 6 (41:06):
Well, still a writer, not of corresponded, but yeah, two
specials and living in New York and everything. I mean
it is, it does feel good, and I feel like
I've come a long way, because it takes visiting home
again to like go back, dude, when you go back
where I grew up and stuff, it's like I thought
it was bad that, you know how when you're little
(41:28):
and you you everything looks big to you. Yeah, right,
going back now, going back to that because I had
to go there for my grandfather's funeral, and going back
there for that funeral and like riding around and seeing where,
you know, where I spent so much of my time
and stuff. I'm like, oh, this was bad, way worse
(41:50):
than I thought it was. This is horrible, Oh my god, wow,
I really made it out like it's one of those
things where you know, it's like if you do. You
remember there was a uh in the show Sister Sister
way back in the day where there was like a
mugger or something or a burglar and he had a
knife and the dad just jumped into action and it
(42:11):
wasn't until the guy been caught and the mom was
was talking to him that he realized like how much
danger he was in because he just acted off vincinct, right.
But then she was like, oh yeah, he h that
was a big old knife and he's like what, yeah,
I guess I didn't notice. He's like yeah, and his
hands were shaky. He could have cut you easy.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
You know that.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
That whole thing is how I.
Speaker 6 (42:34):
Feel about going back home, where I'm like, wow, Luckily
I wasn't paying as much attention as I could have been,
because this is bro It was horrible. Was like, if
I were to send you pictures, you'd be like, America,
We're in America.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
Places around here like that too.
Speaker 6 (42:51):
Yeah, yeah, right, yeah, there's a special way that there's
a poor that happens in the South. That very special.
It's very specific to like America. It's very specific to
like that region where you'll have people who are in
really dire straits in New York, but there's still some
(43:13):
sort of infrastructure in play where you feel like you
have lots of access even while you have nothing. Does
that make sense? Yeah, So if you're broke in New York,
there's still free museum days, there's still free shows you
can go to. There's still like you know, there's still
community gardens, there's still food banks, there's all this stuff happening.
(43:35):
When you're poor in the South, you don't even realize.
You really don't even think more than five miles past
where you live because you're on foot, you know. So
you're like, okay, if I can't get there in a
day on foot, then that's not available to me.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
You know.
Speaker 1 (43:50):
Then as many as put people in the South, the
politics don't match it all. I don't see why the
people in the South both the way they vote for
being so poor.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
It's weird. It's weird.
Speaker 6 (43:58):
It is weird. It doesn't it doesn't make a ton
of sense. But also I think they've been sold you know,
a sort of bill of goods of of like being
on the right side means you know, it helps on
the way, and it's never on the way, It's never
and they they won't get that until they're like, you know,
about to die and help never came. That's kind of
(44:20):
the way that the way I look at it, because
I still have a lot of empathy towards that that mindset,
because I can see how, you know, basically the government
is doing to them what influencers do to their fans,
where it's like, oh, yeah, I'll make you rich too, yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
Yeah, true. So like, do you still I know you said,
you know, sorry to hear your grandpa passed. Well, I
know he was important to you in your life. Do
you any of your family members you still keep in
touch with, you know, they're like, oh my gosh, Josh
since New York now, you know, like cousins or anything
you can still keep touch with in movies.
Speaker 6 (44:59):
I have some cousins are still in my hometown, but
most a good portion of my family isn't Atlanta now.
So I ended up going to Atlanta way more than Louisiana.
I haven't. Before the funeral, I hadn't been to Louisiana
in years.
Speaker 2 (45:16):
Okay, that's cool. So I did have a daily show
question because I know Trevor Noah, he took his leave
back in December and now they're like, you know, switching
out guests and everything like that, how's the environment now, Like,
how's that feeling with him leaving and new people coming around?
Speaker 1 (45:37):
Specific for a specifically house House hasamanaj That was one
of my favorite episodes.
Speaker 2 (45:43):
I was there.
Speaker 6 (45:43):
Oh you enjoyed it? Yeah, it was this week. It
was a real good week. The guest hosts have been
really great. I think everyone has been super surprised at
how well everyone is done and taken to it so quickly,
and like everyone's been very adaptable and flexible. So it's
been a really beautiful experience. It's been really cool to
feel like from week to week you're like cooking, you know, like,
(46:06):
from from week to week you're really like in a
different mode, and everybody's got a different voice, everyone has
a different style, and everyone's remained very adaptable. So it's
been a good exercise in writing in general. And it's
been a cool thing because normally it would take a
decade or two to work with all these people and
it's happening, you know, so quickly every week. That's like,
(46:28):
especially as a writer, that's the way I look at it,
where it's like, all right, you know, in what other
place and in what other world are you going to
write for?
Speaker 4 (46:37):
You know?
Speaker 6 (46:37):
Do Hugh Glee, Leslie Jones, Wanda Sykes, and Sarah Silverman
all within the matter of like a month's time, you know.
So it's been dope, man.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
Which one has been your favorite? If you can say,
or if you can choose.
Speaker 6 (46:49):
I like, honestly, it every week goes by so quickly.
I have not picked a favorite, like I know that
sounds like a very diplomatic answer, but it's also true.
It's like now everybody's been like really special in their
own way, and everybody's been very fun. So it's like
it's all so different that they're not comparable, you know
what I mean, like like a Chelsea Handler showing a
(47:11):
Dal Hugley show or just not the same.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
IDs of feel seeing you know, Trevor Noah, even after
all the years you know, alfter, all the years right
and for him and.
Speaker 6 (47:19):
Everything, I mean, I've been nothing but happy for him
because that dude, that dude works really hard. And so
the idea that he's like doing stand up and enjoying
life now is like that's the dream that all of
us have, you know. So it's like to see to
see somebody be able to do exactly that is very
inspiring just in general. You know, it makes for a
great It makes for a really great like blueprint, if
(47:43):
that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Yeah, I can see you. I can see how you
know him one of the you know, one of the
change beats because like you know, having to do that
seven days a week, well is it seven days? Well,
however long for that long? You know, it takes a
lot of work. So I feel you on that one.
But going back to your special, what was your Like,
how did you like the name? Up here? Killing myself?
So where did you come? Like, oh, I know where
(48:07):
you came? Like, how did you come up with? Like?
What was you? What made you think I want to
name this at my special? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (48:12):
I mean it's sort of a double meaning about how
like obviously I think all the jokes and stories are
really funny. That's why I'm sharing them. That's why, you know,
I feel like it's a it's a great watch and
a fun watch for people. And it was a fun
watch to tour with and perform and everything, but also
about how the subject matters all the times of my
(48:32):
life that was not okay, you know what I mean.
So it's like we're all laughing now and it's about
sharing and it's about moving forward and everything, but it's
still calling back to a time where things weren't good,
you know.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
Yeah, okay, okay. So going back to your special, I'm
not gonna was there any inspirations from other comedians or
other life uh life inspiration like movies, TV shows, anything
that you took for this special.
Speaker 6 (48:57):
This time, I'm trying to think, like I think overall,
you know, obviously, you're always like trying to think of
how to be different, how to be unique, past the
stuff that you grew up on. So it's like to
act like there's there's never an influence in the in
the comedy or in the process of thinking is it
(49:19):
would be delusional to think that no one's influenced me.
But I think that for the special, Jacob and I
worked really hard to make sure it wouldn't be exactly
like something people have seen before, and so I guess
there's something to be said for like certain movies maybe,
like it wasn't necessarily comedians overall. It was more like
(49:41):
movies and and like camera techniques, and you know, we
did a lot of watching. He he'd send me stuff
that I had never seen before because he's really in
the film like that, and I'm and I'm not. So
he was sending me stuff that I can't even recount,
you know, the names of because it would be some
foreign black and white thing. But they did something with
the camera. He was like, maybe we do this and stuff,
so all the influences would be more cinematic than they
(50:04):
were comedy related.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Okay, the movie, you're just thought it. It's a lot
of movies, TV shows stuff coming out. Have you had
a chance of catching the movies, TV shows anything that
you really like this year?
Speaker 6 (50:16):
Poker Face is dope. Poker poker Face is really well done.
I've been I've been watching that with my with my
girlfriend every week, and it's a it's a very fun watch.
Like I like, I'm surprised at how good the writing
is for it, because not not because it shouldn't be,
but just because it's rare that that the writing for
(50:37):
TV is that good. I think a lot of times
in movies and TV, you guess plot lines before they're
ever popping up. You guess, you know, you just see
it all coming, you know. And I think that for
for this there are so many things where even if
my girlfriend and I kind of guess what might happen,
we're happy to be right. We're excited about being right,
(51:00):
and we're shocked and we're amazed when we're wrong. So
that that show has been really fun to watch. And
and uh, everyone in it has been killing.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
A lot of people. A lot of people ain't gonna
know about that because you know a lot of people
don't not too many people have peacock and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
So any other movies I showed that, you see. I know,
I'm about to go see Cocaine bir today. So that's
what my agenda.
Speaker 6 (51:25):
Yeah, let me see there's there's you know what it is.
I'm I'm late to a lot of things, like a lot,
like very very late. So what did I watch on
the plane that was on? I watched Schindler's List because
I was on a flight to Australia.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
So what made your first times in it?
Speaker 6 (51:42):
It was my first time seeing it. Yeah, I had
never seen it.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
I never. I ain't never seen any I ain't never
seen anything. I ain't even judged it.
Speaker 6 (51:50):
It's honestly, it's honestly such a well made movie, and
it like the way the story progresses, like the way
I was. I feel like every once in a while,
even when you're late to something, when you finally watch it,
you see what people were talking about. And that's that's
how it felt about uh Schendler's List. And then I
(52:11):
watched Look. I watched Hobbs and Shaw again because I
had already seen it, but there was something about like
Idris's character that I was like, man, this is is
just fun. It's like like sure he's a villain and everything,
but he's got like a little bit swag and you
(52:31):
know what I mean, Like, yeah, it was it was
that was fun just for the sake of watching it.
And then I watched some like rom com thing that
I can't remember now, so I guess it was not good.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
This TV is a movie music. I was gonna ask, so, oh,
don't ask me. Oh no, I was gonna ask. You
said you went to Australia. Was that your first I'm
going to how is that?
Speaker 5 (53:01):
No?
Speaker 6 (53:01):
It's like my fifth time going it was great.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (53:04):
Yeah, I refuse to get on a plane that long ago.
The world's big, you gotta you gotta gotta explore manners,
it would still be like hell a hell along of
a flight.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
I'm scared. Like it's like spiders and ship, like the
hugest fucking spiders and yeah, but.
Speaker 6 (53:24):
You got that's like yeah, because that that's like, you know,
their their thing. There is a lot like uh, Florida,
where it's like, all right, if you go to Miami,
you're you're seeing very different stuff and wildlife than if
you go to the Everglades.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
You know.
Speaker 6 (53:43):
So it's like, yeah, they got the spiders and they
got the snakes and all the stuff like that. But
also if you don't go over there, then you won't
run into them. Yeah, but I wanted to see nature too,
so I'm gonna have to wait. You gotta pick then,
that's that's what some nature. I'm just scared to see
the nature.
Speaker 2 (54:05):
Campbell spiders. That's my worst night, bro, dude.
Speaker 6 (54:09):
Yeah, I don't really mess with the spiders at all.
Like that's that's when I'm like, we need a gun.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
So I remember my oh no, go ahead entertainment mm
hm with the entertainer question music music. Got any music
that you've been listening to late?
Speaker 6 (54:25):
Yeah, I'm to a lot of I just downloaded I'm late,
but I just downloaded Freddy Gibbs album latest one. Listen
to a lot of Jesse Reyes. Listen to a lot
of like what I would call undiscovered people, people that
don't really have that much going on on Spotify yet,
but I think are gonna pop. And I listened to
(54:49):
obviously like j Cole and Kendrick and everything, So I'll
have some of their songs like on repeat, and then
I just look for I try to look for new
stuff under around stuff, like anything that I think is
like really special or is catchy to me. So I've
sort of stopped. I don't really wait on Pitchfork or
(55:11):
any of these places to be like, oh this is
really good, you should check it out. It's like you
have the Internet in your pocket. You might as well
just go looking instead of waiting for someone to tell
you what's dope.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
You know. Yep, I remember my question I had because
I was about to special again, and you're special. You
said that you was afraid to have kids, and now
I'm seeing that you're in a relationship. Are you still
afraid or is something that you're going to have to
train yourself not to be afraid of, or like, are
you just like I'm not gonna have kids, I'm scared.
Speaker 6 (55:39):
I mean, I think the fear is because I actually
take the thing very seriously. I think that some people,
like I think some people will just straight up have
kids or or you know, accidentally have kids or something
and just be like, well, we'll figure it out as
we go, and it's like, all right, fine, But also,
this is one of the biggest things you'll ever do.
(56:00):
It's like, no one will deny, no matter their philosophy,
on having kids. That's one of the most impactful and
important things you could do with your life. So if
it is, then why would I, you know, sort of
take that thing lightly, you know, And I think there's
a lot of personal work that I would need to
do to feel comfortable making a person and then trying
(56:21):
to teach that person how to be a good person.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
You know.
Speaker 6 (56:23):
I think the assumption that people have, you know, we're
all the hero of our own stories. So there's the
assumption that, oh, by default, I'm just a good person
because I haven't done anything bad, And it's like, not
until you have a little person shadowing you, do you
see reflections of who you really are?
Speaker 4 (56:40):
You know.
Speaker 6 (56:40):
So I'm trying to think about that stuff ahead of time,
so that way, when there is someone watching me, you know,
I can be setting a good example by default, not
being like, oh geez, all right.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
They saw that. Well, all right, have to figure out
a lie, you know, Yeah, we have. I had the
same mindset. We the same age was one and the
same year and stuff. So I had the same mindset
and I and I've been getting guilt tripped by my
mother lately. I'll do it.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Yeah, She's been gilt tripping and stuff. I'm never going
to have any grand kids and stuff like that. I'm like, you,
I take it. I got you a dog, like that's
your grandchild. All right, before we get you out of here,
I got one more questions. Yeah, go to politics.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Trump. Do you think he gonna get the nomination for
the repulse? Dude?
Speaker 6 (57:24):
It's so hard to tell this. This is crazy. Okay,
so this dude is like probably their biggest personality still.
But there's already this thing with Ron DeSantis that I'm
that I'm like, he's a real. If he's if he's
really really smart about it, he can take a lot
of Trump's base without ever really insulting Trump or without
(57:47):
ever like he can even go toe to toe with him,
and it would still be really interesting because you know
that there's so many things that Trump had to do
because he was president, and I think that he you know,
like when he comes to the shutdowns, right like there's
this conservative Republican stance that the shutdowns were useless or
(58:08):
that they didn't do any good, you know whatever, they
were like too much government control and stuff. And then
you know, when you go back in time and look
at who was president, it was Trump, and so it's like, yeah,
so then his base is like not feeling that, but
they still love him. Whereas Ron DeSantis can be like, well,
I never shut down because he didn't shut down Florida really,
(58:30):
so then it's like, that's that's a rough one. Yeah,
I mean, that's a that's a tough one for Trump
to try to come back from. Ron DeSantis wouldn't really
say if he was even vaccinated, it's like, all right, that's.
Speaker 2 (58:41):
Wow, your vaccine. That Trump the one who got the
vaccine to vaccine.
Speaker 6 (58:48):
But that's The thing is that it's like, so these
people don't like the vaccine, but there's Trump's vaccine, you know,
so it's like, that's that's even an example of all right,
this thing happened under his presidency. But also you know,
and then Ron de Santis like served in the military
and then Trump didn't. It's like geez, so it's yeah,
(59:09):
that's conservatives get the nomination.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
All right, Josh, we've reached the end to another incredible interview,
