Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, we're back the way concept presented by the ring.
And today I saw a video where Oscar de la
Hoya has said he has no interest.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
In my he I mean, he am.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I assume Ryan Garcia have no interest in the Devin
Haney rematch, that that fight is not worth doing apparently anymore.
And I'm kind of shocked by that, Oscar de la
Hoya saying there is zero percent interest and a Devin
Haney rematch for Ryan Garcia. And my question is, why
are they not wanting this fight? Why is that not
the fight to do? And what does it actually mean

(00:32):
that they're saying that the breakdown let's go. Like I said,
Oscar la Hoya yesterday was at some event, I'm not
exactly sure what. And here's what he had to say
about what we all thought was next for Ryan Garcia
and Devin Haney, a rematch in October, finally to get
that business done with. And I know Ryan just lost

(00:52):
to Rollie and he in Devon didn't have great performances.
They didn't Devin won fair. Ryan didn't. That kind of
set up the remat I thought, and even Rollie was saying, listen,
they can go fight after I beat him, and that's
what happened.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
He beat Ryan.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
But here is Oscar de la Hoye on what he
thinks can be next or should be next for Ryan
Garcia the rematch with Ryan and Devin.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Can you give us any update? Is that the direction
you guys want to go?

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Now? No, that's not the direction we want to go?

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Zero?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Whatsoever? Devin actually lost, you know, winning, his stock is
super down. I mean everybody's talking. I'm just stating facts here.
People are talking about, you know, him.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Just being a runner, like a not a boxer.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
There's there's something about a boxer like printing out Whittaker, like, uh,
you know Maldrick Taylor, like you know Sweet Pea, you
know those are boxers, you know, beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
This guy's a runner. Why would I want to see that?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yeah, I'm gonna call bullshit on this. I'm gonna call bullshit.
Oh I shouldn't say it's completely bullshit. I think that
that's a part of it is that Devon's last fight
didn't do him any favors as far as gaining fans
or building necessary hype for the rematch. Maybe, but at
least he won. He won his fight, and I think
that more on Oscar's mind than anything, is that Ryan

(02:17):
may not be in the greatest headspace. And I don't
think that this Roly loss is just to do with
Ryan being rusty and Ryan, you know, fighting in Times Square,
no crowd. I think that the Roly loss has gotten
to Ryan a little more than maybe Oscar or Ryan
even want to say. I think they're gonna have to
build him back with what would have been known as

(02:38):
a tune up fight. But I don't I don't think
that they're really calling it that, or they won't call
it that because well, it's Ryan Garcia. So the fight
he gets will be whatever Oscar and them deemed to
be the next big fight, and they'll do numbers for it,
but it will it'll be a tune up fight. Because
here's what you can't have happen. You can't have Ryan

(02:59):
Garcia go in there and look like he did against
Devin Haney, who again didn't look great offensively. But if
he goes in there and fights like he did against Roly,
Devon's gonna skunk him twelve zero, flat out beat him
going away again. I told you guys after the Ryan fight,
the people that thought he knowingly took Austreen and they
did it on purpose. They're gonna have a leg to

(03:19):
stand on now because of his performance and because of
how different he looked some say physically and in the ring.
But this Devon fight is a terrible after seeing Ryan
in the way he looks against Role, it's.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
A terrible matchup.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
It's a terrible matchup because Devon can make him look
even worse and potentially beat him. And what happens then,
what happens if Ryan goes straight back into that rematch
and makes it look very formulaic and potentially boring and
no one gets a big, you know, fan base out
of the fight, then what then you're really screwed? Then
the you know, the whole aura of Ryan Garcia. You know,

(03:52):
he was talking about wanting to fight Terrence Crawford, He
was wanting to fight to ya, Femo, wants to fight Boots,
wants to fight Connor Ben, all these guys. That's not happened.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
That really really.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Damages his career. So I think that they see Ryan's
going to need more time. He's honestly gained some confidence
back because that was a on Ryan like performance. It
didn't look like he had his Mojo didn't look he
had any sort of killer instinct and.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Honestly didn't even look like he wanted to be there.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Here's the thing too, I don't know how the contract
works because I had read somewhere where there was an ultimatum,
a fourteen day ultimatum on Ryan Garcia from Big He
Turkey Lachhik himself as to whether they're going to move
forward with this mandated rematch. I don't know what if
that's true or not, I have no idea. The point
I'm trying to make here is this this move here
for Oscar de la Hoya to come out and say

(04:43):
this publicly again, he was asked the question, so fair play,
and by the way, we do want to give credit
to Marcos and the guys over at FI Hub for
the footage, But for him to be asked that question
and answer in that way when we all assumed this
was the next fight, I mean, go back to the
press conference where I'm holding Oscar back from fighting Bill
Haney on stage. That was the setup, That was the
entire build up of the Times Square card to just

(05:06):
go nah, we have zero interest in it. That raises
the red flags for me to say It wasn't just
an off night for Ryan Garcia. It wasn't just you know,
one of those performances that he just you know, you
can shake off and move on. He is there's something
really wrong with what they see or with what they
think would happen in that rematch, and they need Ryan's confidence,

(05:27):
they need his skills, they need his drive, his motivation
to box to come back, or they at least need
a fight to see if it's still there one of
those two things. Yeah, this just struck me when I
heard this today, because the rumors are out there right now,
and maybe Bill Haney and Devin Haney in that side
knew that this was or maybe they also think this way.
But they've been talking about a potential fight with Tiafimo Lopez, right,

(05:50):
They've been talking about wanting to fight him instead. As
you can see here, I'm tired of TiO and his
racist remarks. Yeah, by the way, Tiafimo going online, the
stuff he's been saying, wild Turkey Ella shake, Let's make
it happen at one forty seven. My boy two tone
the Superstar, Let's go dev Dalla has been asking for this.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Hey, that's on my birthday. Shout out there. I'm down
for that one. It's just I don't also, what is
why is this? What is that? What is that green
blob supposed to be?

Speaker 1 (06:16):
So I'm just confused as to how we got here. Actually, no,
I'm not. I'm not confused. I just think that this
is a cause for concern if you're a Ryan Garcia fan,
as if it wasn't already losing to Rouli Romero. But
the fact that they don't want I don't want to
say they don't want to smoke with Devin Haney, but
they definitely don't right now.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
And they can say.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
It's because Devon's a runner and because the fight isn't
necessarily as entertaining an X, Y and Z. But Devin
was those things before the first Ryan fight. He didn't
just become that in the last fight. Now, Devon fought
a little bit differently than he normally would against Ryan,
but still they knew that the first time, and they
fought him and they had success. There's something that's changed,
and it's not from Devon Haney. It's from Ryan Garcia.

(06:57):
Whether that's the style of fight, the confidence, the motivation,
the osteren whatever they're trying to get their house in order,
so it doesn't look like we're gonna get Ryan Garcia
Devin Haney, and that sucks because I really did want
that rematch more honestly than I wanted Ryan versus Roly.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Maybe that's just me.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
I think there's just something a little extra when it
comes to Devin Haney versus Ryan Garcia. Not that we
always need rematches, but that one I felt like, certainly
did that one. I felt like needed a closing of
the chapter because of all of the you know, allegations
and unfinished wins that weren't wins and everything that just
went on. Should it have been done at Times square? Probably,

(07:36):
but you know, that's what happens regardless. If you're trying
to book now for Devin tia Fimo. Sure, he is
the number one contender for the WBC right now, so
potentially whatever happens at the Mario Barrios and many Pakia fight,
I don't know, it's just like crazy to even say
that's gonna be a world title fight, but yeah, maybe
that could be next. I don't know, but damn this,

(07:57):
this is why we don't need to draw out matchups.
We want to see The buzz was there, the tension
was there. New York was ready for that rematch, and
it looks like we're probably not gonna get it next.
Will we ever get it? Maybe we're not getting it next,
and uh, that's unfortunate to me. Maybe you guys think differently.
Let me know in the comments below what you think.

(08:18):
Did you want to see this rematch? Did you want
to see Devin versus Ryan next? Do you think that
is one of the more popular fights boxing can make?
Or should we just move on? Because Ryan lost a Roli,
maybe he should rematch Roly and because Devin bet Jose Ramirez,
maybe he should look to stay at one forty seven
and you know, challenge for belts there, maybe tia Fimo,
maybe Boots, maybe you know somebody else, Norman, I don't

(08:40):
know you guys, let me know, Uh, down to the
comments below, but don't have those answers.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Just really wish we got this one. What happens next?
I guess we'll find out
