Speaker 2 (00:20):
Hey everybody. On this episode of the Buck Brief, we
have Liz Wheeler with us. She is a host TV
and podcast and has a book out just out this week,
Hide Your Children, exposing the Marxists behind the attack on
America's kids. Liz, great to have you back. Good to
see you, Buck.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Thanks so much for having me. I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
So tell me about the book. What are the Marxists
doing to our kids? What's going on here?

Speaker 1 (00:47):
You know, I put that word in the title intentionally
because I knew people would zero in on it, and
I think it's important that we do listen. This book
has been more than a year in the making. I've
been down in the deep dark hole of research to
figure out whether all these attacks that we're seeing on
our kids, whether this is new, whether this is a
concerted effort. Where it came from. I think a lot

(01:07):
of parents saw for the first time during COVID when
their kids were on zoom school. You know, you just
peaked over your kids shoulder and saw critical race theory
and trans ideology and moral relativism, and kind of wondered,
where did this come from? Why now is this a
concerted effort? And I dug into this question and found that,
you know, it is a concerted effort, but it's definitely

(01:27):
not new. The left, of course, has been trying to
re engineer our society for a long time, about a century,
and unfortunately they've been pretty successful at subverting capturing our
major foundational cultural institutions. They've captured the media, they've captured
the education system sadly, they've captured a lot of religious
institutions too. They've captured the law, and they have their

(01:49):
sites set on the nuclear family, particularly children. So what
I do in this book is first I name the
names of the people and the organizations behind the attack
on our kids, and then I offer a solution that
I will tell you buck is different than what the
Republican Party offers for how we recapture the institutions and
protect our kids.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
So why have they been so successful in this? In
your mind? I mean, obviously institutional capture is a major
part of it, but generally people's children, that's the thing
that they are the most and rightly so. The most
protective of and you would think that would be the
hardest place for Marxist indoctrination to go to the extremes

(02:33):
that we've seen. I mean, I know it's been happening
for a long time in different ways. But it's one
thing to train your kids, or you know, for someone
to train your kids like America is not a great country,
which they've clearly been doing. It's another thing to say, oh,
you're a twelve year old, maybe you're not a boy,
maybe you're a girl.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
It feels like it's escalated.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Well, it's certainly escalating. I think we can. We can
see that plainly before our very eyes. The reason they're
so successful now isn't because their attacks are new. It
isn't because they've gotten more extreme. The reason they're successful
is because the Republican Party, which is supposed to serve
as a bulwark against the bad ideas of the Democrat Party,
hasn't fought back successfully. We've willingly rendered a lot of

(03:10):
these institutions which parents do inherently trust. We typically trust
our children's doctors, we typically trust the CDC, We typically
trust our children's actors, We typically trust our churches. These
are institutions that have a long history in American culture
of being trustworthy institutions, which is one of the reasons
that the Marxists subverted these particular institutions. But the Republican

(03:32):
Party made a mistake, maybe fifty sixty years ago, in
forgetting and neglecting to define what our agenda is. There's
oftentimes a joke in Washington, DC that the Democrats always
vote in lockstep. They're so cohesive they never have a dissenter,
and Republicans over here can't even get our acts together
enough to get our party to vote on the same thing.

(03:53):
And we kind of laugh about it. But the reason
is because Democrats actually have a worldview that they all share.
They all dislike America, they most of them dislike Christian
influences in America, and they fundamentally want to change what
our economy is. Republicans are very good at pointing Outmocrats
are doing what it's wrong. We're good at pointing out
critical race theory that's bad, trans ideology that's bad. But

(04:15):
we've forgotten that we also have to define what's right.
Because Buck I don't believe in this idea of neutrality.
I don't believe that you simply have this playing field
where everyone brings their own values. We are living in
a nation where either the Democrats beliefs and ideologies prevail
or ours do, especially in these institutions. And when Republicans

(04:37):
took a step back fifty or sixty years ago and
embrace this more libertarian idea that government shouldn't be ordering society,
it should just be protecting people's rights against violation, what
happened is the Democrats were like, well, okay, if you're
not going to control these things, we're going to and
Republicans just let them.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Come back with more on this. Liz, I want to
ask you about this school district in California that suspended
a kid for five days for misgendering. We'll get into
that in a second, but first up, my friends, I
want to talk to you the tone of the Towers Foundation.
The tune of the Towers Foundation to live on its
promise to do good and never forget the sacrifices America's

(05:14):
greatest heroes have made for US, Heroes who risk their
lives to keep our communities and our country safe. Heroes
like United States Marine Corps captain and pilot John Jeremy Sachs.
Captain Sacks sustained fatal injuries when his military aircraft crashed
during training, killing him and five other service members. He's
remembered by loved ones as courageous, brilliant, and devoted to
his career, as well as his family and friends. Sas

(05:36):
has survived by his wife, Amber, who gave birth to
their second daughter three months after his death. Tunnel to
Towers paid the mortgage on the family home for Amber
and their two daughters. The foundation has helped over one
thousand military and first responder families navigate the worst of
times by removing the burden of a mortgage payment. Our
nation's heroes and their families need your help now more
than ever. Donate eleven dollars a month the Tunnel to

(05:56):
Towers at T two T dot org. That's t the
number two T dot org. Okay, Liz, So what happened
in this I mean, these are some of the things
you deal with in the book. This school district suspended
kid for misgendering. You got suspended for five days? How
did that come about?

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Well, listen, this is a perfect example of what I'm
talking about. The left has declared that it is immoral
for people to quote unquote misgender. We know that that's
not a real thing, but they've decided it's immoral, and
so they are forcing it on other people. They're not
just deciding that this is a code of ethics that
they want to live by. They're not just encouraging other
people to follow it. They are using institutions to enforce

(06:34):
their beliefs and their ideology. And I challenge Republicans to
do the same thing. And what I mean by this,
I don't mean stoop to the level of the Democrats.
But if we think about the history of public education,
these school districts that we're talking about, public education only
became compulsory in the United States in eighteen fifty two,
not that long ago. Massachusetts was the first state that
adopted it. And the reason that they adopted public education

(06:57):
being mandatory is because at the time there were a
lot of immigrants coming into the United States, particularly Catholic immigrants,
and the Protestant politicians at the time wanted these children
to be taught American values so that they would be
to America first rather than the country of their birth,
and they wanted them indoctrinated in Protestant beliefs because they
were Protestant and they didn't want, you know, the ongoing

(07:18):
battle between Protestants and Catholics. All this being said is
our education system actually was designed to be an indoctrination center.
It was designed to teach children right from wrong, not
just reading, writing, and arithmetic. But somewhere along the way,
Republicans forgot this, and when we pulled back and surrendered
our position of power in the educational institutions, the Democrats

(07:40):
swooped in recognized that it's a perfect place, a perfect
apparatus to use to brainwash children, and ever since then
they've been using it to enforce their own morality, which
is exactly what we're seeing in that school district in California.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
And there's also an effort under way to do more
now to fight back against this. I mean, Governor Ron
de Santis has done a lot in the state of Florida.
Let's start there. What do you think about some of
the DeSantis' actions when it comes to stopping the indoctrination,
this sort of Marxist trans ideology stuff and doctrination of children.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
I think he's done a lot of amazing things in Florida.
And he's set an example for what governing not like
a libertarian looks like, governing with the idea that there's
a just authority of government and helping order our society
towards human flourishing. The best example that I could think
of is, you know, when children go into a classroom,

(08:36):
they are they're taught essentially revisionist history. They're not really
told that communism resulted in the deaths of one hundred
million people. They're just told that, oh, you know, communism
hasn't necessarily been done right, or you know, this was
a struggle by the working class. And instead of simply
banning revisionist history, Rondasanta says, no, you know what we're
going to do. We're going to use the public school
system to actually teach children about the horrors of communism.

(08:58):
Once a year, on a certain day dedicated to understanding
what communism is and honoring the victims of communism. We're
going to really give children an idea of what communism
does to people and to society. That's what we should
be doing across the board. Every time we come across
one of these poisonous ideologies from the left, we not
only should push back against it and say no, But

(09:18):
we should propose an alternative, an alternative that actually defines
right and instills the proper values and the adjective reality
into children's minds.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Being healthy, feeling strong. Who doesn't want that. Our friends

Chalk dot com and use my name buck for thirty
five percent off. So what do you think we can
do to build institutions or is that the answer to
build institutions on our side, or to maybe seize control
of institutions, school board meetings, things like that that we've
been seeing in recent years to stop the indoctrination of kids.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yeah, I think some of the institutions. While I would
like to abolish them, take the public school system, it's
unlikely that will happen, So we need to do what
we can to take it back. It's going to be
a thing. Somebody is going to control it. It's up
to us to decide who that's going to be, whether
we want to surrender that to the left or whether
we want to be the ones in control of it.
And I challenge conservatives listen. I was libertarian leaning when

(10:56):
I was younger. I think a lot of us were
because it sounds great. I wish I could be libertarian,
but it just doesn't work. It leads us to this
cultural chaos that we are existing in right now. So
we have to have a cohesive idea of what our
political agenda is. We have to use the just authority
of government when necessary to order our society, and yes,
we have to take back institutions that are influential in

(11:21):
our children's formation, and we have to be unafraid to
then indoctrinate our children and what is objectively true and
good and beautiful.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Liz, I think that the Republicans could use a wake
up call on this a little bit. I mean, at
the national level, is anyone really speaking about this in
a way that you think is moving the needle in
a positive fashion? I mean, who's doing the most to
fight against I mean, your book has Hide Your Children,
exposing the Marxists behind the attack on America's kids. What

(11:53):
are organizations or what politicians or leaders come to mind
when I say who's fighting back effectively?

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Well, listen, you know my view on politicians. I dislike
them all on principle. I think we should be skeptical
of every single one of them because they're all They're
all the same, They're all the same type. Politicians are
a lot of times there for power and for money,
not there to represent our interests. Governor DeSantis, as I mentioned,
has done this. He has replaced in doctrination with or

(12:21):
He's replaced leftist indoctrination with the proper values in many
venues in Florida. I think he's a good example to
follow his lead. I always encourage Governor DeSantis to be
a little more based even than he is. I don't
want to see him caving to some Republican establishment interests.
But really it's up to us as a conservative movement
to pressure our public officials, whether this is at the local,

(12:43):
state or federal level, whether this is an incumbent or
someone challenging an incumbent in a primary, to pick politicians
that know how to define liberty, that can define it
not as the ultimate end, which is libertarianism, but as
the means to something greater and then articulate what that's
something greater is.
