felt like to you.

Okay, I never want anyone to come to opening night
because it's just you're racked with nerves. Yes, you have rehearsed,
but it's never gone off in front of an audience,
so you don't know what lands you know, Like, I
can we can sit in a studio, we can sit
and rehearse and say, oh gosh, we love this, But
ultimately it's what the audience responds to, and so that's

nerves can get in. You can fuck you up. Yeah,
they can fuck you up. But it went off beautifully
opening night and then last night. You know, after you
get that one show under your belt, then you start
to settle in and you start to really just sort

have a little bit more time on the stairs or
the lift isn't freaking me out. And that was opening
a weekend. I felt good about it.

So we did thirty We did eighty minutes and thirty days,

having a meeting with this man that ultimately directed it,
Mark Ritchie, who was fantastic, and I was walking into
the Soho house and I came up short on the
tall staircase and I kicked off my big toenail. Oh okay, Now,
I wanted this guy to direct this film so fucking

bad for me that I just thugged it out and
was bleeding all over the place and just kept going
and asking the nice waitress for Linen's, and then I
would go to the bathroom and wash my bloody foot
out and clean up the floor in the Soho house
and then walk back out. I just wanted Mark Ritchie
to direct this doc for me so bad that I

didn't care what happened.

Adrenaline took over anyone.

Basking was with me, and he was like, you are
one tough motherfucker. I had three tequila's and just was like,
you have to do this film for me?

I'm like, all right, I'm going to at some point
my authentic self will show up, yes, but I'm having

That's where the growth is, and that's really If you
stay complacent and in the comfort zone, you will never
know what you can achieve. You will never know who
you are. Truly, why not walk into it? And just

that a lot of people are miserable and they want

Well, especially on social media. Now, I'm sure like your
friends and true life are like, yes.

There were so many tears Opening night. Everyone else cried
but me. Everyone cried for me because you've been crying.
I've been crying. But I watched a lot of people
like I'm so proud of you. This is wonderful, and
tears were coming out of their eyes, and I was like,
thank you, Like I just I had to take it.

I don't even want to cry because but it was
so nice to see you rise abup after everything. I
couldn't even imagine the last couple of years what you went.

And and if I inspire one person to pull themselves
together and keep going. That's all what it wasn't like
when the girls, my beautiful background vocalist, which I've never

I had to like, Okay, what do you think is
more difficult this show or Roxy?

Roxy? Because of the schedule, eight shows a week, one
day off.

How long did you do Roxy?

Speaker 1 (09:21):
I was scheduled for three months. I did seventy seven
out of my eighty six shows because COVID cut two
weeks off.

And in that situation, I mean, I remember walking into
your dressing room and it was it makes this seem
like a mansion.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
This is a mansion. Yeah, Broadway is the real deal.
That's an old school, hundred year old theater.

It is you know, it is no team. No Laya
did my makeup.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Like she and I would sit there and listen to
Ella Fitzgerald and do my makeup I had a wig
so they had a wig master. But other than that,
you were out there just on a wing and a prayer.
Like last night, you know, you have lights and smoke
and everything Chicago is it's real you and an orchestra.

But I can say this there. You know, there was
a moment because there's always doubt when you when you
love somebody and you care about somebody, You're like, oh
my gosh, I wonder if they pull this off, please
pull this off. But also is this going to be
a lip sinking situation now? And it wasn't like it.
We could one hundred percent hear your voice for sure,
and I was like, fuck, I am so proud of you.

And then I forget what song it was like. Maybe
it was when you came out and you were in
the light blue dress and your voice it had like
this softness to it and it was just so beautiful.
And I just want people to know that that not
only like you hear a very strong and I mean
I have the same similar speaking voice, yes, but you

have a real lightness in your singing voice that's like angelic.

Well that was the moment, so we took, you know,
leave the door open, and we turned it into to
a our dream girl's moment and just made it sort
of airy and beautiful, and thank you. That was the
aesthetic we were looking for, that airy sort of almost
in a way Supremes Diana Ross. God knows, I'm you
know nothing, you know, could never be on that level,

but that sort of almost sixties sort of beautiful moment,
and I really enjoy it. I think that that's a
really cool part of the show. Yeah, taking it back.

When you found out about the residmes, I didn't believe it, Like,
tell us how that happened?

Were we seek out?

What state of mind were you in? Because it's been
a roller coaster for two.

Years, I'll be honest.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
My agent at CIA Santini Reality said, I want to
put you in touch with this young manager. Her name
is Alexis Fisher. She's really got a lot of shit
going on. We met at shoe Okay Mab Glenn and
we met there and we just sort of vibed and

and she said, what would you like to do? And
I said, do you know what I've been thinking about?
And I have been thinking about this for a few years.
I'd love to do a Vegas Residency. We meant, She's like,
you know what, I think I may this young woman
Alexis Fisher then puts me in the room with Live Nation,
like legit, straight up, like the right to you know.

And I walked in and I sold it, and I said,
this is who I am, this is what I've done.
I put myself on tour before I'm coming off Broadway.
Was my last performance gig, and I think I have
something to offer. Damn it if it didn't happen.

How is this residency different than other performances you've done.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
It's mine out the years, one hundred percent. It's on
my shoulders. I own this thing top to bottom.

Is Mikey doing the routines?

Mikey is the director, and I swear to God Teddy
he had the He had a much harder job than
I did. Just you know, we've worked together for so
many years and bet it All on Blonde is based
around fantasy, love, escape, glitz, glamor, and funds. So when
you see order of show, you see costumes, you see
all of our visuals. I mean, yes, we've worked together

for many years, and yes we've done all that work together.
But he really directed this show from top to bottom
and called the show in my ear the entire time.

I mean, and that's it. He should really be, you know,
sitting here, I know, I'm really all about him.

I'm like, is she bringing her backup dancing and.

Hairstylis here's the thing. I just have to get out
there and perform. He's calling the entire show like we
worked on this together. But as much as it was
sitting on my shoulders, I almost feel like it's sat

that moment where it's just tensions are so high and
you say something and they're like, shit, maybe I should

He was very emotional in a way I've never seen him.
And he said to me, I want this so bad
for you, And that was what I saw, you know,

loved for so long in that place. I just my
heart was just like, oh shit, Erica, please.

creative human beings I know, I called him up. I said, uh,
Live Nation asked me what this show was called, and
I have no fucking idea.

I said, can you help?

He goes, yes, he was on set of his Polite
Society campaign shoot and all of a sudden, it starts
sending me like just name after phrase after phrase after
phrase after phrase, and the very last one. He later
told me he was sitting in the car with his
husband and he goes, you know what, and I said,
that's it, that's it, and I mean, it's the perfect

the reckoning against all reality, But yet it's only been
towards Bravo, and she's making it seem like we are
all forced to do things. What's your take on that.

I'm an adult woman. I make choices. I've never had
a producer say to me, hey, you need to go
choose somebody up, or hey you need to drink some more,
