Carol, you're at Bravo Con. Yes, we're on.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Ok. Did you ever think that you would be here
at Bravo Khan?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
No, because Bravo Con started after I left Bravo. What
year did you leave? Twenty eighteen? And I think it's
Bravo Con started. It might have started twenty eighteen, but after.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
I was wed.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
This is the third one, and they had a break
because of the pandemic, and then we had a two.
They did it every other year, so this is our
third one.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Okay, So you guys are professionals, like I don't even
know what I'm doing.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
I literally I know what I'm doing here, So what
are you not?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
We don't either, and we've been here every year.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
I'm just telling me where to go and I'll show up.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, I'm going to watch what Happens Live tonight, which
they're not calling it.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
They don't call it.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Watch it Happens Live. I don't know what they call it.
They call it something else.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Yeah, it's like.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
There's one night at the Bravos.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
I'm not going to the Bravos.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I didn't know about the Bravos, but everyone's like, you're
going to the Bravos, aren't you? And I was like,
you're probably going No, no, no, I'm definitely not going
to the Bravos Friday night, and I am going to
Luan the Countessa's cabaret show.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
You are, yeah, she asked, Yes, she's not going to
the Bravos.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Then no, I guess not. It's Friday.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
It's yeah, no, no, no, she's doing cabaret and yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
She at Bravo Con.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I think, so, yeah she's here. Yeah, I think, I mean,
I know, no, I think she's doing Bravo Con.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
But I think she's doing her own thing as well,
because I know, like Joey Gorga has a he's got
his comedy show tomorrow night as well. There's a lot
of like side shows.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
You guys have this.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
This is how many millions of downloads now And that's
like unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
I can't believe it's incredible.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
How long have you guys been doing this? Four year?

Speaker 5 (02:11):
Years? Yeah? Four years?

Speaker 4 (02:13):
So we both fired at the same time. You were
both fired. Yeah, so I was fired and put on
pause for two years and then came back. Okay, so
I'm on year fifteen. So Teddy and I kind of
bonded over that. We would talk and Dereinda was also
put on pause at that time, so we would all talk.
And Teddy called me one day. She texted me and she's.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Like, can you talk?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
And I'm like, oh god, what did I do?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Now?

Speaker 5 (02:38):
You know, nobody wants to get Can you talk?

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Can you tell?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
No?

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I definitely don't want to get can talk text?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
So yes, And it was.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
About the podcast. Here we are four years later. Yeah,
and did you always start it?

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
It's not just housewives now you've we have.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Multiple different podcasts underneath the.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Yeah, we actually have our own network on iHeart. Yeah,
so we have a lot of podcasts underneath us. Tell
them we bring it in and then Teddy and I
do Housewives. We do kind of a promo.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
I'm going to be let me just tell you. I
don't watch any of you.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
What do you watch?

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I don't watch reality shows?

Speaker 1 (03:14):
But let me just in fairness, I never watch them,
so it's not like I don't.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I never watched them.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
And then when I was on House Place, I barely
watched New York you know. You know they send you
the screeners. When I was on it, they was like DVD's,
they'd send it, I'd screen it. Y.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, I just couldn't bear to watch HS and so.
And then after I left, I just don't. I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I don't watch it, So I really I don't know.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
I know, I know you.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Guys from Instagram because you're very popular and on TikTok
and stuff. So I see I see clips of it,
and and Vicky I recognize because she's legend, you know.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
So who are you most wanting to see? Is there
anybody You're like, yes, I want to see them.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
You know someone asked me that earlier. I don't think.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
It's not like I want to see anyone very specifically,
but I just like to I want to witness the
whole spectacle of it.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Are you gonna talk about it on substack?

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Yeah? Oh, you're so sweet. You are such a professional.
Oh I got let me tell you. I'm on the subject.
I know it did all honesty.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
I was sort of like social media to me was
not my It's not my vibe because I'm not like
really chatty and talking and like I don't like my
picture take, and so I'm like, what am I gonna do?

Speaker 3 (04:30):
What am I gonna do?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
I have all these followers, I want to, you know,
I want to interact with them.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
And then substack came along.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Well, tell us about that?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well they they kind I found out about it through
some friends and I would go to parties in New
York and they'd say, are you on Substack?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Are you on I'm like, what the fuck is Substack?
Do I need to be on Substack?

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Well, I guess everyone needs to be on substack now
because I'm like, I don't want to be on something
like substack?

Speaker 3 (04:50):
What Substack? And then I finally figured it out. I
got on it, and.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I am telling you, I'm obsessed with it.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
It's a it's a social media platform and has like
a Twitter element, which they don't call tweets, they call posts.
And then it's really like I call it like OnlyFans
for the brain because it's a lot of independent journalists.
I don't do journalism there, but I write stories so
I've started. I've kind of fallen in love with writing again,

(05:17):
which I really had not been doing since, you know,
being on the reality show. And I just write stories,
Like every week I publish a story, a memoir, you know,
story about my life present.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I have stories about Watch What Happens Live.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
I have this great like behind the scenes film from
Watch It Happens Live that I post there.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I just get surprised to be asked to be back
on Watch It Happen'sive?

Speaker 5 (05:42):
What was behind this?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Okay, I'll tell you. Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I also wrote it about on my sub stack in
great detail, but I'm going to give you guys the preview.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I participated in.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
A documentary about my I read about that late my
late husband and his cousin John and Carolyn Bassett. CNN
was doing it and one of John's closest, closest friends
was producing it. Is it okay if I go back
and forth like this, and so I said I would,
I would participate in it, and I did and it
was fine. This was like a year ago, and then

(06:13):
they asked me if I would do press. So I
was like, not really so excited to do that. And
I said, I'll do a few CNN shows and then
the producer said, well, what about Watcher Happens Live? I said, what,
Like it didn't even occur to me, Like, why would
you want me on Watch Happins Live?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
They were like, what of course we That's.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Like, yeah, it's a great path.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
So anyway, so I texted Andy from the meeting. I said, hey,
would you like have you heard about this? They're pitching
me for Watch Happins Live? But like we should you know,
we should talk, right, we should like we should kind
of game it a little yeah, And he's like, I think.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
It's a great idea. He goes, he goes a have
my people call you.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Like it was just so like you know how Andy,
it was so falling out.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Well, we had in that very major public feud since
I told him, like, you know, he's full of shit
or whatever I say on the reunion that went crazy.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
That reunion was crazy.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
That was delicious.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
It was so I've told him off at a reunion before.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
I feel like I was anyone like I was cursing.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
I was like anyway, anyway, so we had we had
a pretty major public feud for many many years. But
Andy and I have known each other for twenty something years,
like through friends that have nothing to do with reality,
and and and and we were just fighting like publicly,
like he would come for me and I would really
be clapped back. And and then finally, like last summer,

(07:37):
it's like, what the what are we doing?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Are we doing that? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (07:40):
I was gonna say, why do you think it didn't
happen sooner?

Speaker 1 (07:44):
A lot of things like the confluence of events and stuff.
And I think I think Andy really was at a
place and we both were where we just we both
kind of came to the realization at the same time,
like what.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Are we doing?

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yeah, Like we have all this history, and there was
much respect for him, Well, you knew him way before Housewives,
way way way before and and and I had so
much respect for what he did on Housewives, even though
I didn't even know what Housewives was when he asked
me to be on it.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
I thought it was talk show. I was like, oh,
the talk show you do with the women. He's like,
you're an idiot.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
And and then we sort of had a we had
a like a makeup moment and very quietly, very privately,
and and then and then then it got into the
press a little bit like like a year later, but
so then it was just like the natural progression that
we would then, you know, heal the Bravo world by
coming together on.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Did you ever think that it was going to be
that big of a deal, to be honest, and again
you'll see maybe I'll post this.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
This behind the scenes thing on my Instagram too, but
it's on my subs deck.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
I was so nervous I was.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
I was like, I can't believe I'm fucking doing that.
I was just my best and I'm like, what the
fuck am I doing? Why am I doing this? Then
I'm even going to know I'm going to walk out.
They're going to think it's you know, maybe they'll want
to see like Ramona, I don't know. I was just like,
well I even remember me.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Like I was really like the fans went crazy and
then and.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Then yeah, Andy was like, oh, it's gonna be And
Andy's so always so upbeat, you know, so he's like
this is going to be great.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
I was like, you're all, is it? And then but
the minute I.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Stepped out onto the set, it was it was like
you're at home. Yeah, yeah, And you know that was
partly because Andy, I think knew that I was a
little bit nervous and that he just he's just like
the maestro. You know.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
How many years were you on Housewives sex seasons like seasons? Yeah,
so after leaving Housewives, was there because I was on
twelve years and then not crazy and then I got
and I got on twenty Yeah, I got for eight.
Well it's eighteen years like this month that I was
high to be on Housewives.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
So for me, like when I got like go at
twelve years, it was like identity crisis, Like I was like,
who am I now? Like you obviously had other things
going on at the time, I was just a stay
at home mom. I didn't like the TV thing was
crazy to me. But twelve years, like my daughter had
said to me, as I'm crying, Mom, I only know

(10:25):
you as a housewife. She was a year older a
year and a half when I started the show.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
So did you have that? Did you have any moment?

Speaker 1 (10:32):
I did, even though I had had like multiple different
kinds of careers before reality. But I will say, like you,
I did have like kind of like PTSD, like being
kicked out of the cool girls. And also it's just
like the brand is very powerful. Yeah, and it's it's
And even though I had huge career at ABC News,

(10:54):
I published books and had a big writing career, I
couldn't get I couldn't get over you know, I couldn't.
I couldn't go back to that person as much as
I wanted to. And because everyone would always be like, oh,
you know, I pitched a book, which a proposal, and
they're like, well, you're going to write.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
About housewives about housewives, and so it was.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
So hard for me to get above it.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
And and that you know, now you know, it's eight
years so it's just fine, did you.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Leave on your own or did they let you go?

Speaker 4 (11:26):
No?

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Well, after that reunion, I mean after that reunion, it
became even a little before the reunion, became clear that
it was it was unworkable.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
The romance was over.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
It was unworkable for me to stay.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
There was another cast member on the show that you know,
we couldn't work together. Yeah, and you know in the
end that Bravo did you know the right thing by
the show and they and she you know, was you know,
just had more power yeah, you know on the show,
so so and she had.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
More of a dysfunctional life. We're like, hold on because
at the end of the day, that's really what's about
when it comes to reality TV.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah, like, I to be honest, I was surprised every
year and they were like, if you want to come
back your arm I was like, really, yeah, Drake, I
don't take my clothes off.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
I never made out with Sonya. I never got naked.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Who are you still friends?

Speaker 5 (12:22):
I was going to say, who are you still close?

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Well, I'm friend friends with Derinda, Like she's just she's
really really good person. And then I just recently saw
Ramona and Luanne at this party for Andy for the
first time in like eight years.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
So I saw it on social media.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
I mean, we're not we're not friends, but like it's
like you guys know, like on sisterhood almost like a
dysfunctional sisterhood. Yes, yes, we get together, and like there
are there should be cameras.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
I was really close to Ramona because we started around
the same time, right, Yeah, and then after she left
the show, I haven't really had much of a you know,
conversations with her, but I had dinner with Renda two
months ago or not even two months ago, like maybe
six weeks ago. In New York and then Luanne we
had her on the pod like we love her and they're.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
So still deep into it, so deep into it, like
into realities, and Derinda does other shows. But I had
dinner with Derinda and a couple of friends and Luanne
walked in with.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Uh with the Stratton So yeah.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Yeah, yes, yes, so I mean literally it was so
funny to watch because I don't know, the dynamic was
very intense, like very like it's just like a housewife scene.

Speaker 5 (13:38):
Do you watch any of the newbie shows?

Speaker 3 (13:40):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
I don't, but I do know any of the newbies,
like they're not new anymore, but like Aaron from Roney,
we have a lot of her light and we just
had dinner together and it got on social and everyone
thinks I'm gonna be back. You know, it's gonna be
she didn't hang out with any house like she's.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
I feel that she's back.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Everyone's gonna be so disappointed when there's no announcement. But
like I got you know, sorry, guys.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
Well we appreciate you so much for thank you for
we just got the we got the look like you
got to wrap it up.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
So we got to go.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
To tonight, right, you're going to have What time is it.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
It's it's five eleven.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Oh, I gotta get a lamb. Yeah, I mean, I mean,
I'm almost in glad. But your glamb looks done.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Well from earlier today. I just need touch ups in
the hairdo. I'm going to do up hairdo my hairs
a lot of time. I know your ha great.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
You know I had such a crush your dad.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
What hold on, let's talk about that.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
Talk about this.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
John Cougar Mellencamp. Yes, hello, wait what I'm older than well,
because i'm his age.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
You're age, honey, I think I am now because he
was like, I don't know his music, kid at seven.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
His seventies, you're not in your seventies.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Well, he was like he was like an Inspirations, like
the heart throb at the time.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
In the early eighties. When was he Yeah, the eighties.
I have him, I have him on on rotation. He's
on your playlist.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
When he was the Tugs, he was.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
He was so hot. You're so pretty though, it makes sense.
I love he was single.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Maybe we can something we can do. Yes, he's a
real charmer, charm your pants right off.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
No, he had that one song your heartbeats like an explosion.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Oh it's so good.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
It's like so many, there's so many good I'm like,
I don't even know. You have his lyrics and tattooed
on your back, don't you have one?

Speaker 5 (15:54):
Life was short even on your longest days?

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Oh that's okay.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
What song is that from Longest Days?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (16:01):
Yeah, it's like it's a newer song. But and then
Jack and Diane was a huge song. Well, Jack and
you might have like hurt so good, or you might
have all of them.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
But I've been recently listening to the one. I can't
remember the name.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
It's on my it's on my phone, and I.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Look, you know, can have time because it's so good,
and like, I just like love him so much.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Hold On, he's on my playlist. This is how hold on.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
It's so funny because you would be his type.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Oh oh yeah, all right, well let's make this happen.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Guys. He has a girlfriend right now?

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Right?

Speaker 5 (16:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (16:40):
Still yeah, they rotate.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Oh so good, because the night what's it called, it's
called ain't even done with that?

Speaker 5 (16:50):
Ain't even done with the night. Oh that is a
good song.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
It's so good.

Speaker 5 (16:54):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
