Speaker 1 (00:00):
Bug them into unbreakab on a mental health podcast with
Jay Glazer. I'm Jay Glazer. Today is a mental health
check up, and I want to get start getting back
to these every Tuesday for everybody, and I felt this
was a great time for me also because full disclosure here,
I have been completely manic over the last two weeks
and there's certain things have happened. I lost a really
close brother mom, and I just kind of got thrown off.
(00:22):
The difference though, in these last two weeks is opposed
to in the past, now that I have a podcast
like this and I'm open about mental health. When I
was manic on the phone with friends, they automatically saw
it and I didn't run from it. I wasn't ashamed.
I told them what was going on with me. I
had more people checking on me. Even when I was
talking to people. I'm like, hey, I want you to
understand what it's like when you hear me like this,
(00:43):
then you could know that, oh man, something's off with Jay.
When I sound like this, I tend to ramble a lot.
I tend to sometimes a network. I have a lot
of cohesion in what I'm saying. I started having a
pity party. Things like that, but I was able to
really communicate to people. But it was also what I
did was I really try to bat down the hatches
and say to my beautiful wife, Rosie, I need to
(01:05):
make sure we stick to my rituals and routines. I've
got to get into that. I've got to make sure
I do that. And it's hard to do when you're
manic and when you're kind of off, but that's what's necessary, right,
you know. Really the key to life, I think, is
how we handle the tough times. Easy times you don't
need a guidebook for, right, we don't need podcasts for,
(01:26):
but the tough times, that's what we have to kind
of go through. And I also just want to say
thanks to so many of my friends. And there are
guys that once they found this out, like Michael Phelps,
I love you, Michael Phelps. This guy hit me up constantly,
call video everything, just to help me through and make sure.
Andrew Whitworth sent me the most beautiful thing. Like the
coaches in the NFL, like these are the badness dudes
(01:48):
and the planet folks, and I'm telling you they're not
like when you're having these issues, you could lean into them.
They don't want to run from you. They want to
be there, and it helps, you know, lift them up
as well if you could lean into them. Here I am.
I'm rambling here and I'm still kind of going through it,
and I really appreciate that I have all you to
open up to and to help walk this walk together
(02:09):
with all of you. Love y'all, And hopefully I'm in
a better place next week than I was these last
two weeks. But what I will do is keep trying
and trying to try and working at it. Just keep
walking this walk together.
