Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, gorgeous. It's Lala Kent. Welcome to untraditionally. Lala.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hi babes, it's Lala, Welcome back to untraditionally, Lala. I'm
here with Michelle Sonnai Sonnai.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Okay, I have fan questions for you. Are you ready?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
I'm ready?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
All right.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
How is your mental health after losing your mom and
going through a divorce.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
I'm sorry, my mental health has a lot of ups
and downs. I'm overall in a much better place because
I know my mom is enjoying heaven. But I have
my sad moments where I miss her.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah, it's totally normal. And you know what, you and
I have a lot of good cries.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'm a weirdo and I think that you know, people say,
you know you should laugh every day.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I think you should also cry every day.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah, I am learning from you.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Definitely cried a lot more since becoming your closer friend.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
You also are fine hanging out with your boobs out
in front of me, which I also like.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
What happened with Aaron.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
You're a fucking savage. By the way, I will say,
when she's done with someone, you, guys, she is done.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
There is no talking to an ex unless you have
to share a child with them. What happened to us,
I don't know. It was just I moved in, and
as soon as I moved in, you kind of realize,
like he was a single guy before dating a bunch
of girls, and then you bring me and a daughter
into a picture, and it just kind of like, I

(01:34):
don't know, he just woke up and realized it was
a lot for him, and I think that was one
of the things. There was a combination of things. He
was looking for a perfectionist and like the perfect wife,
and I think I didn't hit a lot of those boxes.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
No one ever will. That's a hey issue.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
That's highly and I know that. So I'm actually really
happy that we are no longer together.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I am too, because I thoroughly enjoy looking at the
men that you've been talking to.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
You're very good looking. Are you dating anyone?

Speaker 3 (02:05):
I am casually dating somebody, but nothing serious. I am
focusing on myself and I'm my number one priority right now.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
God, I fucking love you. Amen to that. Do you
want more kids?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
I'm open to it, but as of right now, I do.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Not, is Isabella, and I don't mean this to be insensitive.
Is she a lot? Because Sosa for me is a lot.
She's making me. She's like dealing with me all the time,
which now I feel badly for people.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yes, I'm always tired. Also because she has so much energy.
She still wakes up at eight. I'm sorry, she still
wakes up at six in the morning every day and
she goes on and we do about ten activities outside.
We go on walks, to the parks, gymnastics, ballet are like.
I'm I can't just keep her at home and chill
and watch TV. We don't do that, So she is

(02:55):
by the time I put her to sleep, I'm exhausted.
And that's why I can't imagine having an.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Okay, so if you found a man who was like
the perfect guy.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
It depends if he was a perfect guy, really wanted
an another child, had family, you know, we could get
some help. Yes, of course that would consider it.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, it just depends the biggest part. Yeah, I feel
bad that I talked about Sosa that way. I adore Sosa.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
And I adore Isabella, but I get yeah, it's some
kids are harder than other others.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Oshan, I would put her in the bed and she
could just chill there. Sosa is all over the place,
and she's particular and temperamental and high strung. She is
everything that I am. Yeah, so yeah, it's a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
How are you navigating being being a single parent?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I think I do a really good job. The days
I have Isabella, I just put all my focus and
energy onto her, and then the days I don't have her,
I focus on work. Those are the nights I go
out with my friends. So I really try to like
divide time when I'm alone and when I have her.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, you feel like you've conquered it.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
I think so.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, You're like a well oiled machine at this point.
Michelle and Laala describe your friendship?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
You go first, How do I describe our friendship?

Speaker 1 (04:16):
She's like a fucking nightmare.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
My favorite thing about Laala is like how comfortable I
feel sleeping next to you. I really do. It's just
so cozy our pj's. I watch you do your whole
night routine. It's very interesting. We like the same temperature
and I sleep amazing next to you.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, we are like a match made in heaven. I
feel I love being I just I feel comfortable around you.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
I feel like I don't have to censor myself.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I feel like I can be just who I am
at all times, and I feel zero judgment from you.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
And I also feel like you're not.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Going to take that and go talk behind my back,
because you would just bring it to my face anyway. Yeah,
and I also think we're epic roommates because we have
the same pooping schedule.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
She won't she's.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Not gonna talk about it. I'll talk about it. We
like our coffee at the same time.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, we have a lot of same a lot of similarities. Yes,
And I do think you bring out like this silliness
in me, Like I laugh a lot with you.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Oh that makes me really happy. I laugh a lot
with you too.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Tips or advice on how to help your child adjust
to a two parent household more easily.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
That's a hard one to adjust. I mean we we
were always very strict with you know, bedtime, schedule, bad time,
So we just make sure that even if she's at
his house, like the routine never really changes.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
So the consistency at both households absolutely. You know, there's
one thing because like now knowing Jesse a little bit better,
he's like someone who I can't stand, but also have
so much love for at the same time, am I
allowed to say that? Like, I feel like we can
go toes and then totally be fine five minutes later.
And I know that that probably seems like unhealthy to

(06:02):
some people, but I'm like, I actually thrive in friendships
like that. Yeah. But I do like the fact that
when it comes to your daughter that you guys are
both honest with each other. Yeah, which is something I
don't have. So my co parenting situation is so much
different and watching you guys, I'm like, I know it
gets tough, but I do admire you both for always.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Putting her first.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Yeah, we always do.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
My last question for you is there anything you've learned
about yourself from being on TV?

Speaker 3 (06:32):
What have I learned about myself on TV? That's a
hard question. I've learned to well, I've learned to be
I'm very private. I've learned to like open myself up
and be vulnerable, and I don't know, it's just like
a work in progress.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yeah, yeah, I will co sign on that. I feel
like just watching you and again, I'm really excited for
people to see you in season three because I do
feel that the cameras were like non existent to you,
and you were very open about everything you were feeling.
And you and I, in my eyes, got very very

(07:10):
close like we did.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
I consider you like one of my dearest friends.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Yeah. And I've learned it's okay to be happy and
sad and like show emotion and tears and stuff like
that when you feel it instead of just like holding
on to it.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
See reality TV does teach you something. Guys, feel the feels.
I love you, guys, Thank you for listening to another
bonus episode of Untraditionally La La. I'm gonna catch you
on Wednesday for a regular episode and a good next week.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
