Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to Waken Jake, myself and King Beebes
as we are entering a week with MLB Baseball. The
Korea Games will be Wednesday and Thursday. We'll be streaming
Wednesday morning at six am. Make sure you guys check
that out. I think we're doing a gaming stream into
that Poppy Gordo who no sleep, no need excited. That's uh.

(00:23):
I still have a fresh memory of college, you know.
I think the dining hall opened at six am, and
they did like a Korea series, and there's a bunch
of baseball losers in the dining hall at six am,
like eating breakfast, watching the game. So if if that

(00:45):
story speaks to you in some way, excited to see
you Wednesday morning, and you'll see a new player in
the dugout. Dylan Cees traded to the San Diego Padres,
one of the star pitchers thought would be traded this
offseason gets dealt to San Diego. Will break that down.

(01:05):
We got a little o' tany might be playing the
field meat to chew on. If I'm being half honest
with you, there's just a little bit of a click
in there, but I don't know. It's a fun conversation
because they're also playing Mookie Bets at shortstop and starting
to believe in that less every day. I think at
the end, fill out a bracket live, just walk you
through my thought process, see if you find any tidbits

(01:28):
you like, and any other baseball stuff along the way.
DJ Lemayhew just reported probably out to start the season.
So some turmoil and Yankee Land. If you have a
third basement for us, let us know Ryan McMahon still
wants you. Let's get into the Dylan Ce's trade because
as the off season almost officially is ending trade wise,

(01:51):
who are the aces we thought we would get traded
Tyler Glass now.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Glass now Burns, Cease and Bieber three.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
To four, And for a lot of this offseason it
felt like it was only gonna be one out of four.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, it felt like especially Cease, it was like, well,
you can wait till this deadline if you want, You'll
be trading him with a year and a half, it's
still a lot of.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Value, right.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
But they pulled the trigger.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
The San Diego Padres pulled the trigger on Dylan Cease. Uh.
Coming off a year thirty three starts a four or
five eight era. Uh slightly deceptive slightly not dude, he
had a one point four whip.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
That's a little He's always walked guys.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Jumps off the page a little bit. Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Had some bad vibes and bad defense last year as well.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
That's true. Help, I'm willing to wash anything white sox out.
In twenty twenty two, thirty two starts a two to
two ra one eight four innings pitch second in the
cy Youngs and no, it's funny second in the cy Youngs.
That's weird. Uh. He led the ale and Walks that year.

(02:59):
So I'm gonna I'm gonna break analytics for a second,
give me season snell and we'll figure it out. God
damn it.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
It's not necessarily the most fun watch, but like it works.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Man walk is code for a single? Do the Geeks
have that one yet? Anyways, I'll come off of that maybe,
and I guess we'll find out. This is a big
pivot year for Cease. But in twenty twenty one, thirty
two starts one hundred and sixty five innings to the
tune of a three to nine. So I think that's

(03:32):
you know, he in those past three years, he's kind
of covered best middle and worst case imo. I always
like when a pitcher goes to a different league. Petco
a pretty picture friendly park, and I don't know Dylan Cease.
His stuff passes the eye test that he's gonna be
pretty good, looks pretty good in the Padres uniform, with

(03:54):
the facial hair he's got going on, that kind of works,
and if I'm being completely honest, it it changes my
outlook for their season. And one player is really not
supposed to do that in baseball, but a he's a
very high end pitcher or can be a very high
end pitcher. I love their pitching staff. Man, you Darvish,

(04:16):
who his numbers weren't super impressive last year. He's still you, Darvish.
I actually I did want to check out his baseball
savant just to see if it made me turn my head,
You Darvish baseball savant instant reaction. Eh, it's not super pretty. Oh,
coming off a year in twenty twenty two when it

(04:37):
was super pretty. What happened? Nothing too crazy? So okay,
I'm still not out on you, Darvish. But he's at
least a lock for innings. Joe Musgrove is really good.
Joe Musgrove missed a little bit of last year. I
believe that was his weightlifting incident. Seventeen starts to a
tune of a three h five with the San Diego

(04:59):
Padre seventy eight starts, four hundred and fifty nine innings,
three to zero five era. Joe Musgrove is a guy guy.
He's probably the one on that staff, if you're being honest.
We'll see what Darvish looks like this year. Michael King
the big piece in the wan Soto trade, or one
of the pieces in the wan Soto trade. You know,

(05:22):
I'm sure we have a chunk of Yankee fans that
tune into this, you know, Mike King, And it's almost
one of those things that I'd feel I'd almost feel
nervous talking to an opposing fan base. And this is
just when I try to be a neutral sports fan.
The way Yankee fans would talk about Mike King, you'd

(05:42):
almost have like buyer beware, awesome human. The stuff is gross.
And the biggest thing was he got stretched out to
becoming a starter later in the season, and during that
time he pitched really well. When he switched to a starter.

(06:04):
End of August eight starts, thirty eight point one innings,
forty eight strikeouts a one eight eight era. Uh and
for me, uh, you know, because again we say a
lot of stuff, so he can't always fully take credit
for things.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I thought Mike King would be able to transition to
being a starting pitcher like a lot of pitchers who
started in the minor leagues. He had the pitch mix,
which that's the big thing, Like, that's kind of what
it comes down to. If you have the difference between
two and three pitches in Major league baseball, very important
unless you're kind of like a freak show like Strider

(06:44):
or Rodin when they're right. Mike King has a chance
to be really good. You know, he still has to
be a starting pitcher over a full season. He pitched
one hundred four innings last year, but he's you know,
he's twenty eight, turns twenty nine this year, pitched a
lot in the mind leagues. Mike King has All Star potential.
Mike King has Cy Young vote getting potential. Like, if

(07:07):
it all comes together, and maybe there's some Yankee bias there,
I really don't think there is. If it all comes together,
Mike King can be really really good. That that's four
with ceas Man like, Okay, let's play, let's play a
game BBD. Who's a top four rotation that you would

(07:29):
rather have over the padres.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Mm accounting for current health, in my current health because
like a week ago, ten days ago, Like I'd take
the Yankees over.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
That, but it'd be close. I'm a little gun shy
on the Yankees. Cole at the top is always tough
to negotiate with. And then anything Atlanta probably has a
conversation Strider Freed, Charlie Morton, Chris Sale. Yeah, you got
a little rich there, but you also have some hot
the probably high end potential of that rotation.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yeah, Astro's rotation isn't where we typically have them.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
No, Dodgers is interesting. I mean right now it's Glass now, Yamamoto,
Miller Stone congrats, uh Gavin Stone Warehouse a family member
of the Warehouse, Colin Stone. I guess when the Dodgers
are right.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Philly Nola Wheelers got an argument.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Suarez and then whoever you like out of Taiwan Walker,
Chris Sanchez.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Like Mets even with Singas and no like the the
Philly I think you if you're a Wheeler Nola guy,
you're in on that over the Padres.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
But Toronto Gossman, Cacucci, Bassett, Brios, They've they've got a
very similarity into San Diego.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
So I don't know, I'm mad if I said I
definitively want the other one.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
But yeah, I guess the point is that that top four,
if they're right, they can go toe to toe uh
with pretty much pretty much anyone. And so with the
top of their lineup, Like I for a little bit
this offseason, I was like, shoot, Tatisa is gonna go
off like Soto's out of town. He kinda when you

(09:25):
don't play any sport, it's really tough to jump back in.
He showed more than enough last year that I will
not be surprised if it goes. It was an ugly
Padres year throughout anyways, Bogart's first year in the NLS,
I want to be surprised if he ticks up cronin
where it should bounce back a little bit. Machado, you

(09:46):
know some of the lists he sneaky shows up on
his best hitters in baseball, uh, Hasan Kim and then
and then you've kind of got some fun youth like
Campusano Jackson. Merrill has officially made the team as the
top pro center fielder. I don't know, Maybe I'm too
far in it. Their bullpen has some concerns. There's a

(10:08):
lot of wildcards that I just have no idea. Yuki
Matsui Wo suck go. They do have our guy Wandi
back there, so a little, a little close to the
situation there. I don't know. I kind of liked the
San Francisco Giants over the Padres coming into the season
before Dylan sees I think I've flipped right back. And

(10:30):
it'll be interesting to see can they keep the Diamondbacks
within their realm? And are the Dodgers just gonna Dodger
You already know the answer to that, yes, But when
we're talking expanded wildcard, it'll be interesting to see how
all of that sorts out. And where do where do
the Padres go bargain bin shopping because they can still

(10:54):
use an MLB body or two on the team. Should
we be talking about the Padre Yankee yet? Tyler Wade, Higgy,
Michael King, Johnny Burrito, Wandi Peralta mm hm. And they
just traded away I always I always mixed. Did they
trade away Thorpe?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Thorpe?

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Okay, they trade away Drew Thorpe, who was one of
the pieces in the Soto trade. So I thought that
was an interesting point from Trevor on Today's Talking Yanks,
Like when you trade away Juan Soto, one year of
Juan Soto, to be fair, you want to look back
and be like, hey, what.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Did we what happened overall? What did we get for him?

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Mike King was their biggest, like flyer reliever transitioning to
a starter. But everything looks awesome and like the guy
started in the miners like two years, it's just kind
of where does it land? Is Mike King a four starter?
Is Mike King a two starter?

Speaker 2 (11:46):
It's scary when it looked like he was your two
and a half three coming into the year. Pennsylvan is
therefore I can work with that.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Like that a lot. Uh. And then Dylan Cees so
you know, the kind of the number one prospect that
came over. You flip him for seas and you're gonna
have him for two years. So as a Padre fan,
I know it's kind of been an ugly offseason for them.
I feel like them in Seattle there was a chunk
of their offseason that they didn't know where the ship
was going, and I think they both landed in pretty

(12:16):
good places. That Yeah, I'm I'm drinking more San Diego
cool aid as you'd expect when you bring over a
picture of Dylan Cease's magnitude. But man, their their rotation
has a chance to be really really good. I always wonder,
does they're alrighties? Does that matter? I've always really wondered. Yeah,

(12:42):
like in theory it matters, but also it doesn't, right, Like, yeah,
if you're just good, you darvish Joe Musker of Dylan
ceas Michael King.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
I feel like it's not the same as like building
a line up where you're like diversity.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Really yeah, help for the picture, that's what helps you
navigate it. Yeah. As a hitter, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Oh, I don't know if that's something that's like kind
of aged out of baseball, like at a time would
be like a, well, you don't stack your lefties back
to back.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Former MLB pitchers hitters listening to this, let me know.
Happy for San Diego Chicago White Sox. I don't know.
I I said it, and I'm what does their team
even look like? Lineup not doing much for me? Looks

(13:32):
like the back end of their rotation is the White
Sox rotation. As listed is Garrett Crochet, who I thought
was still going to be coming out of the bullpen.
So I've been a little disconnected from White Sox chatter.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Apparently that was that was announced today.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Eric Fetti, and you're two slot coming back from the KBO.
Michael Soroka as your three man, former braves Ace, Chris
Flexen who did the bop around last year, the four,
and then politely Nick Nastrini currently listed as the five starter.
Looks like he came over in a trade with the Dodgers,

(14:11):
So I'm not sure. I'm not sure White Sox fans
how we're feeling.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
I mean, the the bullpen doesn't alleviate any questions. I'll
tell you that four listed closers six.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Uh hey, it it looks like they have six top
one hundred prospects by fangrafs, a couple of those coming
out of this trade. And it looks like five out
of the six are gonna play this year next year,
so hey, maybe we're talking about a nice White Sox rebrand. Yeah,

(14:49):
I don't know. Should we be mad the Yankees didn't
do this?

Speaker 2 (14:52):
That Yeah, I was reading some like comps what the
Yankees package would be the the eerie rte. They don't
really have a comp for, but you could argue either
of their top pitching prospects are better than Thorpe. It's
a a little bit picking.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Flavors, kind of like Chase Hampton and Will Warren if
you were gonna do that.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Yeah, which like they you wouldn't trade both of them.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yeah, it's getting a little Yankee ish, and I guess
I'm trying to say it for your team too. The
price for Dylan Ceeese was two top one hundred prospects
and a flyer, yeah, and a bullpen guy. So I
don't know. I don't know if your team has that.
I don't know. The other big thing is did the
White Sox want them. That's the other big part of
doing a trade.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Uh, if there guys like their guys could just like
Drew Thorpe more than whoever your pitching prospect is, even
if your guys a higher ranked prospect, If your guy
likes curveballs or whatever Thorpe throws, yeah, whatever sucks. Kind
of struck for Drew Thorpe going to a place that
hasn't developed pitching, but.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Hey, he's probably gonna get an opportunity, and if you
can be good on your own. Who the the Dodgers
traded for glass Now, it was what basically getting off
of Margo, Johnny de Luca, Pepio, who proved he could
pitch a little bit.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yeah, he was young, interesting.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Twenty six, pitched at the major league level. Johnny de
Luca Treb's guy. Where Trev's see him at a wedding
or something or no New Year's I.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Think it was New year does sound right.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
I think Treb's a member like a fake country club,
and I think Johnny DeLuca was there for New Years.
So the Rays got off of cash one year of
glass Now, they had to give him an extension and
Margo and they got Pepio back, okay. And then what
was the Corbyn Burns That was the Brewer's trade. That

(16:54):
was the tops or tease well or tees the top
one hundred haul used to be kind of failed, but
it was on the way back up, So I don't
fund something. Basically, it seems like the Brewers clearly like him,
and Corbin Burns kind of was the head of that
class health wise and performance ability wise, but only one year,

(17:17):
so I don't know. Yeah, I would be. I mean,
it's easy to say with trading prospects, but none of those,
none of those feel icky, none of those. As a
Yankee fan or whatever fan of a team you are,
is like, oh I wantn't Oh wait?

Speaker 2 (17:35):
I think all of those get a similar reaction of
like why couldn't we have done that? Which happens with
a lot of trades. Honestly, yeah, I think a lot
of times guys either go for much more or much
less than what you think they're going to.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
What happened with the Glass Now extension? Did the Dodgers
demand that?

Speaker 2 (17:59):
I think, yeah, I gonna do less until he accepted
the extension.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Pretty nice situation for him at all the leverage. God,
I want that guy must have a lot of bad days.
See the video he was he was one of the
uh he was one of the Dodger players giggling in
the dugout over the first pitch yesterday. If you know,

(18:24):
you know, if you don't, that's fine. Uh So that's
the Dylan c Strade, man burn Cease and in glass
all got traded. I wonder if that is gonna you know,
the one thing I was mad we missed on talking
baseball today when I was thinking about it afterwards, was
was that another thing holding up smelling Monty? You know,

(18:49):
if you're one of the teams that thinks they're gonna
be in the mix, Hey, if you thought you were
in on the Cease trade, you were debating trading prospects
and only paying six cease, what's it like nine mil
this year? Probably fourteen guessing.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Assuming a good year, that's a fair guess.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
But yeah, I do wonder if we do get some
Snell or Monty momentum before the season, because Cease was
another step in the process. Otherwise, I am worried that
this is going to drag deep into the season until
potentially the draft, because then you don't have to give

(19:28):
up the draft pick, the qualifying offer draft pick, and
for a lot of the teams that are supposed to
be involved in this, they can save on some tax
this year. So God, if we get updates on that,
you'll hear from us. But zero Monty rumors. And we
did get a Snell Houston rumor from Bobby Knight. I

(19:52):
guess Nightingale Bobby Knight is a real person too.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Did he die had to right, thank So.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yeah, last year, RP Bob Knight, Bob Nightingale, the MLB
reporter kind of he said that the Astros were in
on Snell. He kind of walked that back a little bit,

(20:21):
but we also heard on our end that the Astros
were in on Snell. So a little bit of smoke
and fire there. And I don't know. In my head,
I thought that would be a funny last attempt to
get it, a real offer out of the Yankees, get
an offer out of the Angels, get an offer out
of the Texas Rangers. But I don't know. It's Jimmy

(20:45):
was on this a little bit. It's either happening. It's
either before the season or I think it's at the draft,
because otherwise, what are we waiting for if you're not
going to get the full season.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yeah, I'm gonna let him like join mid year.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Yeah gone, I mean, if you're Snell, maybe I don't know.
Interested to see it was fun. I didn't realize that
Tycho signed a one year deal that year and then
he hit free agency again. If you're Snell, you can't
do that. You just want to cy young Monty at
his peak, crazy crazy, I wonder where those e Rod

(21:30):
got four for eighty just about Monty comps. Yes, right,
I mean I'd have to dive in a little further.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
But I remember pre free agency there was like a
just because Monty was at such a high that like, yeah,
e Rod's gonna be like you probably get similar production,
similar age. Yeah, I mean I'll get get him for
like half.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
I think if you asked teams to pick, I do
think Anti win sixty forty, but I don't know.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Yeah, he'd get more votes as straight, like who can
you which of these guys do want to start for
a month for you? But you'd get some Errode voters
in there.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Yeah, all right. The other I mentioned this is part
click if I'm being one hundred, But the Dodgers just
came out and said, shoe Heyo, Tani's going to start
a throwing program that may allow him to play the
field this year. I don't know. I mean, part of
me loves it that Roberts is like he said, we're

(22:39):
gonna get back to the States. He's gonna start his
throwing program. We'll see how the progression goes. If his
arm is healthy enough, we'll have that conversation in the field.
I don't know. The baseball season can move in a
lot of different directions if the injury bug strikes or
whatever it is. The Dodgers already have a ton of
outfielders that you'd you'd wouldn't think show Hey, playing the

(23:03):
outfield is necessarily a need. Uh, pace he can't. It
would be sick if he could play, like Maden if
we were talking about Otani playing shortstop, Otani and Mookie.
I'm not saying he can't. He won't. I don't know.
It would be a cool part of this season, like
if they if they brought back Jade Martinez still a

(23:25):
free agent. By the way, everyone's forgotten. I don't know
they have a crowded outfield. Uh. I hope it becomes
a storyline because I hope it's a fun thing for baseball.
I mean, I'm as a baseball fan trying to go
into Dodgers fan shoes. I wonder how sick it would

(23:49):
be compared to I don't know, Otani letting a throw
eating right field. I don't I don't think I want
to see that.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yeah, it'd be like a as a fan of crazy,
I do, but.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
I don't know what are we doing Dodgers. Why is
Mookie Bets You're starting shortstop? That is odd in a
very in an extremely rude way, And I'm sorry Dodger fans,
and sometimes you guys can come at my neck the hardest.
I want Mookie at short not to work a little bit,

(24:26):
just because otherwise you've broken baseball. Jose McFly had a
really good argument, though, Mookie Bets is good at everything, so.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Yeah, I would bet on he's fine.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
It's weird because I'm rooting for Mookie Bets to do
it because he's awesome. But in a way, I'm very
much rooting for the old baseball philosophy of like, hey,
your shortstop has to play shortstop. That's supposed to be
like the sacred position. That and catcher. Basically, you can't
just put someone there otherwise it's a bad time. Maybe

(24:59):
Mookie Bets isn't someone although I know there were some
highlights going around that uh Mookie wasn't looking too pretty,
which he shouldn't. He's thirty years old. Having an internal argument.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
With myself, and even even when he came up, I
know he was drafted as a short stop, but he
like his as a prospect almost played played almost entirely
second base, like very little short step to last year.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
And that's the thing. Second base was kind of a
fun convo because we did it on Talking Baseball a
few times. It's like, what's less wear and tear second
base or outfield, like just kind of standing out there
by you're lonesome in your thoughts, or at second base
where you're in on the action. But not a lot
of intense throws, not a lot of to take a beat,

(25:46):
not a lot of intense sprints and dives in theory
and loser Jake played a lot of out of the
park baseball my day. I used to laugh because Mooki
used to move to second base later in his career
and I'd be like, oh, he used silly video game,
that's the best right field there. Ever, then it happened,
and I was like, damn, silly video game. But he

(26:08):
never played shortstop. He never played shortstop in the video game,
And I guess I'm there's there's also the sick part
of me that wanted them to trade for Willie Adamas
and it never happened. And maybe if the Brewers fall
out of it, it will, but for now they won't

(26:28):
Yankees bs, DJ Lemayhew probably not starting the season with
the team hashtag sad. We're actually spreading it out a
little more. We're getting to the part of free or
freegency of spring training where we're getting these like official announcements.
So I guess comment below, what like what your team
has happening. I've definitely seen a couple guys lately, like, no,

(26:51):
you just mentioned Danny Janssenna, Danny Jansen outstarts season, TJ
Friedel broken wrists, I love TJ. Any other big ones
jumping out in your head. I mean Houston, we've seen
their pitching stuff develop. Seems like Jose Orkeaty. They currently

(27:14):
justin Verlander, Lance mccullors, Luis Garcia, Jose Orkety on the IL.
That's four. That's a rotation. That's insane. That's insane. Let
us know who else has the injury bug?

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Injury bug going around Marlin's rotations? Got it?

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Yeah, right now?

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Garrett and Cabrera.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Yeah, Sandy's been out for the year, but currently has
their rotation Lizardo Puck, Trevor Rodgers, Ryan Weathers, and Yanni Chirinos.
In Miami they have wooh, we're talking about top floors
of rotations. How about the Marlins.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
IL Marlin's Dodgers and Astro's IL rotations?

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Would would battle Sandy Uri, Edward Cabrera and Brax and
Garrett I can go toe to toe. Damn injury stink dude.
I did this last year. There's so many. I think
it's because guys are in better shape, which is just hilarious.

(28:24):
And I don't think there's a real solution, because the
solution is to be in less good shape not throw
as hard, but then you don't make it to the majors.
So it's a real cycle. See you in the field show, hey,
And as we do every March, it's time to fill

(28:46):
out a bracket. You know, I know a lot of
you come here for your my college basketball expertise. I
did tell people might have to find a clip. Maybe
we'll have to bump someone in socials. I'm pretty sure
I had said it on Waking Jake. I placed a
bet on January tewod on the University of Connecticut to
win the men's national title. I think I got it

(29:10):
at plus twelve hundred. They're down to plus four hundred.
They're one of the bigger they are one of the
bigger favorites heading into March, and deservedly so. By the way,
Yukon is awesome. They have six players that can put
twenty on you. College basketball teams normally don't have that.

(29:32):
Klingon might be the big man, you know, Samson Johnson,
Slamson Johnson behind him. I went to the Yukon Saint
John's game. I went with a talkin' Yanks fan who's
an assistant coach on the Saint John's women's basketball team. Oh,
nice little connection. Don't know if he wants to be

(29:54):
shouted out or not. Joe there you go figure out
the rest. It was funny. I was with Saint John's people,
so I couldn't really like celebrate anything, but they are
nice seats, good time with Joe. Yukon's nasty, and he
was saying that they were talking to the other Saint
john coaches about like the scouting report, and they said

(30:15):
Clinging the seven to two guy that changes everything you
do on defense, and he's one of the best finishing
interior bigs I've seen in college. They said that for
them for Saint John's, it was a worst matchup when
he was on the bench, so Yukon just has it
at every position. I am weirdly confident they're going to

(30:36):
win it all. So with that, if you just want
to click Yukon the rest of the way, you're welcome.
I'll see if there's anything else that jumps out to
me and we'll fill out a bracket quick. Florida Atlantic,
Northwestern going FAU. They went to the final four last year.
People forget that. Also, Northwestern had a kid get hurt,

(30:57):
so I'm out on them. That's a big thing for me,
have a kid get hurt. Although I'm gonna walk all
over that in a second. You're out the twelve five.
Everyone loves a twelve five. San Diego State UAB. I'm
going San Diego State. I think they also made the
final four last year. I think that's one of the
cute fun facts of this region. Although I've always liked

(31:20):
UAB as a school, I think their dragon mascot is fun,
and they were going to cancel their football program, but
like Roddy White fought for it and they kept it.
So I've always liked that. So that's huge. Auburn Yale.
As much as I'd love to pick Yale, I think
Auburn's good God, I don't have the upset yet. Geez okay,

(31:43):
we'll find the upset later. BYU is a really fun team.
They have a massive big man who has a cool name.
Let me look it up BYU men's basketball roster. It's
like Ali. He plays like Jokic. Oh.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
I think I have seen a video.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
He's awesome like he is that guy. Let me get
the name because I want to get it right. What
am I looking at? B U y U Cougars. Is
this their basketball team? Ali Khalifa? I don't know, just

(32:20):
an awesome watch. People had them as a dark horse.
One of my friends, Big Evan Evan and Co you
may know him, Big Yukon Guy, adamant that the Huskies
got screwed in their bracket this year. I think there's
an argument if you're a Ken Palm guy, Iowa State
is the two seed in their reason A lot of
people thought they would be the one. And if you're

(32:42):
the top seed of the tournament, the Yukon is you're
not supposed to get matched up with the five seed
people thought. I always say it was the four there
with them. I don't know. Salty Yukon stuff Illinois beats
Morehead State. Good Drake gets the upset over Washington because
I need something to look ugly in this bracket. Yukon

(33:03):
beats them all of San Diego State beat Auburn. Everyone's
kind of on Auburn. They think Yukon and Auburn would
be a really fun game. So I'll take that down
BYU beat Illinois. Boom b Yu Iowa State. Iowa State
versus Yukon, and Yukon beats them cool bottom left. North

(33:24):
Carolina is the one seed undeserving. A lot of people
think good for them. Mississippi State, Michigan State. This is
you know, a lot of teams know the Jersey. Mississippi
State's head coach has led a couple cinderellas the past
couple years. They play awesome defense. It's like disgusting to
watch teams struggled to even get a shot off. I'm

(33:47):
gonna believe in it. I'm gonna have them play North
Carolina Saint Mary's. Grand Canyon. Gotta go. Grand Canyon twelve five?
Are you kidding me? School that just kind of appeared
out of nowhere. Grand Canyon just made themselves sports school.
You're there. I think they made the tournament the past
three or four years too. Yeah, that matters. Alabama Charleston. Okay,

(34:08):
this bracket's got a chance to be ugly. I'll leave
Bama for now. Clemson, New Mexico, New Mexico, screw it,
get out of here, Clemson your football school. That's analysis Baylor.
Colgate feels like a buzzer beater. We're going Baylor. Uh, Dayton, Nevada,
go Flyers. Go Sure, Arizona they beat Long Beach State,

(34:32):
They'll beat Dayton. Uh, let's go Baylor, Arizona. Do we
want to go Grand Canyon with the Cinderella run they're
playing Alabama. Sure. It's a bad bracket. I don't like it.
Everyone always tries to do too many upsets. Maybe I'm
trying to show off for the people. Let's see if

(34:52):
I feel another upset, maybe I'll come back and remove that.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Let's go I like North Carolina. We'll go one seats soft.
That's what can win you. Bracket. In the South, the
top right corner of the bracket, Houston plays Longwood. We're
going long No. Houston's really good, although they did kind
of embarrass themselves at the party the other day. Nebraska

(35:21):
is one of the most fun teams in this tournament.
They've got the kid who idolizes Steph Curry. If you
haven't seen him, let me get his name because you
might know it really well in a week Nebraska. If
I type in Nebraska Curry, will it pop up? Casey Tominaga.

(35:41):
I believe he's Japanese and referred to as the Japanese
Steph Curry. Whar's thirty shoots from anywhere on the court,
plays electric A and M just as a school feels
like they underachieve, So a little bit of shots fired there. Wisconsin,

(36:02):
James Madison, I'm gonna go Wisconsin. They were playing their
best ball in the tournament. They've got a few guards
that can fill it up. Duke Vermont. I wish I
could take ver Mont. I can't. I will take the dookies.
Texas Tech. NC State, you don't really care if I'm

(36:25):
being honest. Wow, that's the least appealing game I've seen
on there. Actually, no NC State's fun. They just made
a run in the A c Oh my god, dude.
They've got a big man. If you haven't seen this guy,
you're gonna like this guy. BBD he's massive. DJ Burns

(36:46):
type him into your Google search. DJ Burns Junior NC State.
He is a beast. Oh he is, Yeah, that's college basketball.
He's nasty too, He's like flexing. There's some like Zach
Randolph in there. He's a massive human being. And I'll

(37:12):
believe in that. Why not NC State Kentucky, Sure they'll
beat Oakland. Maybe heard it's like Kentucky's best scoring team ever,
which maybe that's just the state of affair in basketball.
Florida just mentioned my hurt player theory. They had a
gross injury over the weekend, so they're out. So I

(37:33):
get to click the winner of Boise Colorado on the brackets,
which always feels weird. I can't believe. That's a thing
in my heart of hearts, I believe Colorado. I'm gonna
go my school theory A and M is struggling right now.
Colorado's on the way up. I think schools feel that
maybe maybe not sure. Marquette Western Kentucky, No thanks, Marquette

(37:56):
versus boys in Colorado. I'll go with Marquette. I believe
in my big East. Uh. NC State Kentucky, We'll go Kentucky.
We'll believe. I want to not believe in Houston, and
I want Nebraska to win everyone over. So I'll do that. Nebraska,
eat it, Houston, You're out. So what isn't do I

(38:17):
need to get rid of a former upset Grand Canyon? Yeah,
I'm taking Grand Canyon out.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Do you have Alabama in now?

Speaker 1 (38:26):
I don't believe in Alabama though, Let's just make it.
Alabama has lost against every good team. It looks like
screw it. They both stay. Let's get March. Let's get March. Okay,
So Nebraska Wisconsin Duke Duke wins that Duke Marquette ooh

(38:52):
ugly Marquette beats Kentucky. Uh, I'll go Marquette. They go
to the final four. Little bit bast bias kicking in people.
Purdue more like per don't Utah State TCU. Everyone seems
to be on TCU because I think they can score.

(39:15):
Fill it up. I'll ride with the people on that one.
Because I know nothing about Utah State. Gonzaga McNeice State.
People are excited for that game. I'll stay with the
Zags for a round. Why not Kansas Sanford? This is
where I'm gonna walk all over myself. Kansas has a
bunch of guys hurt for some reason. I like Kansas

(39:36):
a lot. They're big Man Dickinson, the big lefty dude
that was at Michigan the past couple of years. He's
at Kansas now he's hurt. Their other scorer kid on
the wing. He's banged up. They're kids, They're gonna get healthy.
They'll survive Sanford. They'll bring it for Gonzaga in the
next game. South Carolina Oregon. I know people that went

(39:58):
to both of those schools. That's nice. Sco Ducks. That
one's just for roommate, Jeff floorball Ad. Sure Creighton Akron,
Creighton's got a little bit of juice. Sure, I'll fight
off the off set there. Texas will play the winner
of UVA CSU. I don't like either of those teams.

(40:19):
We'll go Texas Tennessee Saint.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Peter's Who are Saint Peters?

Speaker 1 (40:26):
I'm not clicking it. Uh, Tennessee should win in that.
I love a good storyline. Tennessee Texas. Rick Barnes, the
head coach of Tennessee, came from Texas. I believe the
guy running Texas now used to work for Rick Barnes.
There's your storyline. I'll go Tennessee, although I don't love

(40:47):
them this year, although they have a kid who's going
to be like a top pick, Dallas Connect. I think
his name is. He's allowed to shoot, He's allowed to
shoot from anywhere. I've seen him play awful and I've
seen him play like a level of incredible Dalton Connect,
Dalton Connect. Okay, So I'm feeling good about that. Uh,

(41:09):
Purdue TCU. A lot of people are gonna have TCU
there and feel like Purdue is not going to slay
their march dragon. I'm going with Kansas. I'll go with
Creighton because I'm a Biggies buys guy Creighton. I'll go
Kansas over Purdue. The kids are gonna get healthy, bill self,

(41:30):
and I'll go with Kansas coming out. So that would
have my final four is Yukon, North, Kakilaki, Marquette, and Kansas.
You know where I have Yukon going. Uh, let's go Kansas.
Screw it, Yukon. How many total points will be scored
in the championship game. Let's see, Yukon's going to score

(41:52):
eighty six, Kansas is going to score seventy eight. Quick
math on that, and I'm entering to win, uh some

(42:13):
bracket tournament. I guess, so submit my pick. That was
my bracket. I gotta put in my address and a wake.
All right, Thank you guys for a lot of you.
That might have been hilariously bad. Some of you probably
liked it. I hope there was one pick that could
have affected your decision. If so, comment below. If not,

(42:33):
we will see you Wednesday. Jolly Olive the shortstops people
like a click. Thanks everyone,
