Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's way. But Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and Ari
Lennox is here.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
First of all, I'm so hyped to have you on
the show because you if you know me, you know
I love me some. Ari Lennox, thank you, love you,
thank you. That means so much to me, and you
are like superstar status.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Oh thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Honestly, Like when I look at Ari Lennox and I
watch your performances and listen to your music, to me,
it's like all the music you put out is stuff
that we could listen to forty fifty years from now, six,
you know, forever, and I just feel like it's timeless music.
So I love that about you and your voice, it's
so distinctive.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
I appreciate that. Yes, and congratulations for all of your
business endeavors. You have coffee. That's incredible.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
You make me feel so good because when I tell
you something, you're like, oh my.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
God, I mean you've got businesses and that is so inspiring,
Like that's what it's a dream. I'm just really inspired
to hear you killing it.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
I can tell you're a good partner because yes, because
it feels like you would like hype somebody up.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Oh maybe you did so amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Maybe a little too much.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah, but let's get into it.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Because they did give me a preview of the new
single get Close and the video, which is very sexy.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Thank you, and I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Let me ask you, how how involved are you as
far as choosing who's going to be the leading person
in your video?
Speaker 3 (01:22):
I always choose them always. It's always me like they well,
they give me options and I'm always like, yep, that one,
and it's crazy there. Yeah, there's always like an attraction
there for sure, but then it ends after the video, right.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
I mean it's good for on camera, yeah, but you
can really feel it in.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
That Oh yeah. It makes it so much fun and easier,
and it's just like we could go off and be
something and then it's.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Just like, right, well, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Is there time that you have to like talk to
each other and get to know each other, because it is.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Oh yeah, like you know, yes, the whole video, we're
getting to know each other, asking questions and so that
can be more comfortable and like really pretend like you're
my man, which is nice because it's not my reality.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Well you know what.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
First of all, congratulations on it's been over a year
since you put out Age Sex Location, which is an
album that I love.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
So I have a little game i'm gonna play with you.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
All right, it's not too crazy though, Okay, all right,
So you get to choose age sex location. I'm gonna
ask you a question from these categories. Okay, age sexy
location pickuin.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Oh sex why?
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Okay? All right, now it's not that bad. Okay, okay,
all right?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Sex nighttime? Morning or afternoon? What's the best time?
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Oh my goodness, the afternoon. Like we showered already. We uh,
we did everything, we like, you know what I'm saying. Laughter,
We've we've been like I don't know, the day got
started and then it's just m afternoon.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah see, I would say night time because I like
to go to sleep after Like, if you don't have
anything to do at night, it's the worst when it's
nighttime and you gotta go do a show, right, he'll.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Know, Yeah, that's the worst. Yeah, the little nap afterwards,
it's cool afternoon and little nap alright.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Age sex location, Oh location, okay, location, where's the most
unusual place you hooked up? Oh my god, it could
be just a little you know, her usual place, maybe
the movie theaters in my mid twenties.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
With this guy, it was really nice and before I
picked yeah exactly, Oh yeah, terrible. I love an old
school movie theater though. That's like my jam that's my pastime,
like favorite pastime. But yeah, we were in the back
and he had a beautiful, big smile on his face.
He was really happy, and I'll bet.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
He west was when's the last time you've been to
the movies?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Oh, my goodness, a week ago? Like that's like my
self soothing thing, even if I'm there to watch horror films.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
You know, that's my favorite category. Really, Yeah, I saw
in the movies?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Was saw?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Oh my god, I haven't seen it yet. That's like
my favorite, one of my favorite friends.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Really, you're gonna love it. I actually like the storyline.
It's time around. That's why I saw you dressed up
for Halloween.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yeah, but that's why Halloween is my favorite time of
the year because I love horror movies.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Wow, same, same, Ill.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Tell me some of your favorite favorite horror movies.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Yeah, dang, that's deep. Are you put me on the
spot here?
Speaker 4 (04:21):
I just watched The New Exorcist.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
I can't do that. That's a little too dark for me.
But I watched none too, and I was not but
I was kind of annoyed by that. Oh I liked Smile,
but I know people probably sideized movies if they're not
perfect or something.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
It was great car movies are not supposed to be perfect.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Can we talk about it? Because I also like Drag
Me to Hell, And I know that's kind of like ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
I always see that. I haven't watched it yet, but
I always see it on the streaming service. Smile was good.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Now if you remember the marketing campaign they did for that,
they had people, you know how you would have that
big smile. So they had people go to like the
baseball game, right, and they were just sitting there with
those smiles, and the camera would be hell no, yeah,
but yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
And the Exorcist is based on a true story.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Yeah, I'm hip.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
So that's why it's scary to me, because it's like,
this could really happen.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
I have a crazy story about the exorcistem Actually, so
when when I was little, I went to Blockbuster with
my mom and I'm like, great, I'm about to see
Miracle on thirty fourth Street. Because like, I was excited
to see that Matilda had a new movie out, So
I'm like, okay, Miracle on thirty four Street. I'm excited.
So I take it home. I pop it in the VCR.
(05:35):
My mom left me alone to watch it, and I'm
watching it and I'm just like, Okay, this is interesting,
Like it's been a while. Where's Matilda. I don't see
her on this, but all this wild stuff was happening
the girl, you know, she's clearly possessed by something, all
these horrifying things. And then the incomes and I believe
there's like red credits. I remember, I don't know, and
(05:56):
I'm just like the thing, the whole thing, because I
was horrified. But I was so like intrigued. This is incredible,
but I'm scared, But where is Matilda? So I was.
I was dedicated, And yeah, I told my mom. I
was like, I don't know where Matilda was, but I'm scared.
I watched this movie and she looked at it and
she was like she got mad at me. I'm like, wait,
hold up here, yes, Like so some evil person at
(06:20):
Blockbusters switched a Miracle of thirty fourth Street with the.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Exercise Wow, you know, that's like five. Listen.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
I saw The Exorcist at a really young age too.
I was a home alone in the basement and I
watched it, and I remember that movie had me so
scared that I couldn't sleep at.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
The light off. Oh my god, for literally like a
whole year.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
And even like when I was you know, go and
to take a bath and I couldn't like keep the
door closed because I was.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Just scared after seeing it.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah, same, And.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
You know, I always wondered for the little kids that
are in those movies, how do they feel?
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I have chills afterwards.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
I feel like that has to be too much on
your soul as a human anyway, Like I believe in
spirits on all of that, I think there's real dark
energy like in these movies. Like that's why I do.
I am a little freaked out by like demonic movies
because I feel too real to me. But like other
(07:14):
scary movies, it's still horrifying. Like I saw you could
do because it's like there's no demon. Yeah, I could
do that as.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
A person, which is crazy.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
It's horrifying things, right, it's not a spirit.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
But did you ever feel like there was like a
ghost in your house.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Or oh my god, I feel like growing.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Up, we all had that.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Like I remember I used to when I would go
in the basement, I always felt like something was chasing
me every time I had to turn the light off
and go up the stairs because you get scared over everything,
and we could only turn the light off downstairs and
we had to go up the steps.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
I'm that way, always running like I don't I don't
play that. Yeah, and I don't like being anywhere by myself,
so like I'm always turning on the lights and things
like that.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
So same, Were you ever scared like when you first
got your apartment, because I know that's you know, that's
a whole song too, But when you first had to
live by yourself, was that scary for you?
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Honestly?
Speaker 4 (08:11):
Nothing?
Speaker 3 (08:11):
And it's crazy. I live in the woods in the
middle of the woods by myself, and it is kind
of country. It's a little slightly ah, this is messed up.
I don't want to shade the neighborhood, but i'd be
seeing Confederate flags. Yeah, so it's never fun. But it's
like on the other side of it, there's like beautiful
deer and foxes and beautiful trees and things like that,
(08:34):
and I don't like blinds. I think I'm just a
little like dark.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
You don't like blinds.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I don't really care for blinds. When I'm naked, I
make sure i'm in.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
But I mean, you look amazing, but we don't want
to have to see you.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Yeah, that would be I don't want to show me.
But I I locked my door. I locked I locked
my front door and I locked my bedroom door too,
just in case.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
All right, I like that for you.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
And you know, we were talking about America on thirty
four sheet Holiday Times.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
What is your favorite holiday?
Speaker 3 (09:06):
I was good, Halloween. I love Halloween, and then I
love Christmas as well.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
So would you ever do night Mare?
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Before Christmas?
Speaker 4 (09:15):
Would you do a Christmas song? I was looking at
Brandy's and that.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Was so amazing Brandy's album.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
I think she's doing another one, she said recently. I
believe would you ever do this?
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Is that out yet?
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Oh? It is okay because I heard before, but yeah,
it was incredible. It was incredible.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Yeah, so are you on it?
Speaker 3 (09:38):
No?
Speaker 4 (09:39):
No, I would I was just thinking maybe you heard
it because of no.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
No, no, that would be dope. Nah. One day, I
do want to I would love to make music with
Brandy And I'd love to make my own Christmas album
one day.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
I could see it. I can see her for you.
Maybe a Halloween song one You're all the station.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Right thriller Michael Jackson, Like he really he did that.
He made a Halloween anthem, which is like so dope.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
You know, since you said you would like to do
music with Brandy one day, if you had to choose,
this is one of my questions. Also, if you had
to pick somebody to do a joint R and B
album with, who would it be?
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Just one person?
Speaker 3 (10:16):
One person? Joint R and B vibe.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
With so much?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Oh my god, it has to be somebody alive, somebody alive, someone.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Of like who just came out, be anybody, anyone.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Oh my god, this is hard.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
There's so many people I love R and B, R
and B, R and B.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
You picking one?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
This is gonna be the Iri Lennox first time ever
joint projects.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Oh my god, Oh no, I don't know. Okay, all right,
let me really try to focus. Do we have time
for you?
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Yeah? You think about it.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
You want me to come back to it, all right?
While you think about it, let's do another age sex
a location.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Pick one tweet it would be tweet. Oh yeah, I
think so.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Yeah, that's dope.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
She's everything.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Were smoking cigarettes? That was absolutely that all smokes cigarettes. Okay,
why do I want to smoke it?
Speaker 3 (11:05):
We want to? Yes, made me want to smoke?
Speaker 4 (11:08):
All right.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
So age sex location pick one age what age do
men finally grow up?
Speaker 3 (11:14):
It's forty three? You know, I said that. I think
I'm psychic because I don't think I googled it. But
that's like a thing. It's a real if you google
like men age that men mature is forty three.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Al right, so some people have a way to go,
so we give them a pass until they're forty three.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
No, you still gotta get youores. It just rocks off
sometimes and I gotta have a friend sometime. I mean,
I think, honestly, that might be the age I finally mature.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
It's forty thirty three.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
You have time, then, you have plenty of time, and
I want you to like enjoy this part of things.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
You know.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Listen, I want to say I was devastating when you
said you weren't going to go on tour anymore.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
And this was it When I say that.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
I'd always say, okay.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Anything, and then you're now on tour with Rod Waves,
So how's that going.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Oh it's hard. It is because I'm opening up for
young people and they like, you know what I realized
my I think my music is a little too happy
and I mean no shade, but it's too like pressure
and like you know, like it's his is like different.
(12:26):
So I think the people are just like, what the
hell is this happy shit on here?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Okay, now I can see what you mean by that,
because I will say what I love about you.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Also are your ad libs?
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Oh thank you?
Speaker 1 (12:37):
And I think it's like you just say stuff that
you're like I would say that too, and it's kind
of funny, you know, so it lights it up, but
it is like really light.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
But the crazy thing is I can relate to Rod
like I'm very emo inside, I'm very emo, but it's
weird like when it comes to music, Well, some of
my songs are emo.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Like express it differently.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Yeah, I think I ex differently. I wish I could
tap in the way he does and like have such
amazing impact in that way of like we're depressed. People
can relate to me in that way. I think it's
very powerful. He's very powerful person. But yeah, I don't.
I'm afraid to dive. I think as deep as he
(13:20):
dives into like his pain, I do feel like I
have walls and guards up. I feel like if I
were to dive too deep, Like you know how people
go low, I'm the person who goes to hell like
I don't know, I don't know no limits. I'm extreme, like, yeah,
I had some drag me to hell. I'm talking about
the darkest shit you ever heard, very explicitly, like how
(13:42):
I sing about sex. I'm very It's easy for me.
I could be as explicit as I want, maybe too.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Explicit, but which I enjoy it. Thank you because it's
like talking to your homegirl.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
It's you know, it's a fun conversation. But then I
do know that there's things that you've gone through. Yeah,
y'all talk about it.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
First of all, that could be too dark sometimes, but
i's talk about the dark dark. It's right. Ain't ready
for that, you know.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
That, you know.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
And I remember when you did that post about being
sober right for seven months and then you said it's
okay to get help. So when it came to getting help, like,
what help did you get? What did you mean by that?
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (14:18):
So help is like, so this app I do is
called I Am Sober. That helps me. It's a community
of like other people that are on the journey too,
and it's all kinds of things people battle with, like
maybe it's self harm, maybe it's like emotional eating, maybe
it's drinking. And so I love I love that app.
It's great and so that's my community. But also when
(14:40):
I was talking about help specifically, I mean like getting
on a flight, I'm less likely to fly on my own.
Sometimes I have Kamar, my security guard with me, and
sometimes I have one are those people. I haven't had
one in a while, but a greeter Okay, yeah, that help.
That helps a lot. They they've been really helpful and
(15:02):
calming to me because I get just so anxious at
the airport.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
But you know, it's interesting, so you I couldn't imagine
seeing Arie Lennox on a flight by herself.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
I go everywhere by myself, which I know is dangerous.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
I do the same thing, really, I do everywhere. So
it's a little different. Girl in Brookland and best Eyes.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
And not not in my Kkkland.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Okay, they don't know me, yeah, do not go nowhere,
but they don't. Do you have any friends in the
neighborhood for saying that, but.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Have you met any people like in the neighborhood though?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
When I first moved in, I met this beautiful girl
named Brittany. But we haven't talked in a while, but
she's great. I just I'm just sometimes I can get avoided,
but she never did anything. Well, you can get avoided, yeah, avoidant,
Like I just I'm just like I.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Think you said avoided like everybody.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Oh no, no, no, well man, but but like women,
sometimes I'm like, oh, we're getting too close, sadly, and
then I find a way to just let me just
back off, and then life happens and the next thing,
I know, we haven't talked in a while.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
So you think that you kind of like sabotage relationships
because you have these walls up.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Sometimes not all the time. Some people it's like it's
so hard to walk away, and they're they're very beautiful people,
but are It can be challenging sometimes, But I.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Yeah, like, yeah, you did get rid of your Twitter, right,
have you noticed that?
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Everybody love watching everything that you do on social media
because you're very funny.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
You're problematic, that's why.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
I think that it comes at being funny though, because
when you're able to express yourself and in that way,
sometimes it's going to be things that rub people the
wrong way.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
It just can't be avoided.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
I talk too much on Twitter, but people do that.
All was like delete. I think it's still deleted. I hope.
I'm trying to make it past the thirty days, so
it's gone forever.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
That's my drinks now.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Anyway, all you gotta do is in sell elon musk
and you'll be off of there forever.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Okay, fine, I'll try.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
That next time, like just go down and like with
the bang and now I really won't be able to
come back.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
But how has that helped you?
Speaker 1 (17:21):
You know, just getting rid of that, because like you said,
you feel like sometimes there will be some backlash over
things you said, but you own it.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Like I've seen you apologize. Yeah, I've seen you.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
And you also don't drink anymore and maybe sometimes you know,
we get a little tipsy cause I know when people
come at me, I might be more apt to like
say something back if I've been drinking and I'm like
let me you know.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
It's I don't need to drink though for me to
still want to like clap back, like if you say something,
I'm just like why would you say that? Now I
gotta check you. Now, I gotta drag your hell and like, yeah,
you gotta feel what I feel when you try me,
Like I'm a human, like I have time today.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
But it has helped you a lot with your like
with your anxiety mentally, just being like I don't even
have to see this anymore.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Yes, deleting it. I'm not looking at the toxic parts
of it, which is just okay, what are they saying
about me? Or or just like you know, some fans
I love them, but some of them they sometimes think
they're helping by, you know, being mad at my label,
like why'd you put her on that tour? I'm like,
(18:26):
I asked to be on this stoor Well Rod offered
it to me, but I gladly accepted. This man gave
me a job. He gave me an opportunity to close
out the year with a nice, beautiful employment. So I
am not like like I know what I'm doing, Like
I know our music is different, but it's still helping
me grow in like so many ways. So it's just like, yeah,
(18:50):
I know what I'm doing, like let me do it,
let me figure out my life. And so sometimes I
feel like my fans they want to like baby me
and or they want me to be like entitled. I
do deal with I struggle with ego and entitlement, but
they want me to be like I'm too good for
something or like I'm not when it's just like no,
I'm never too good for an opportunity to grow, an opportunity.
(19:14):
This man is selling out Arena's. It's chilling, like to
see all those people in there and to see how
they're chanting his words like so loudly and emotionally, and
it's just like I want to be able to do that,
you know, I know I can do that and the
venues that I'm doing, but yes, I want to get
(19:34):
to arenas one day.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
And what ways have you grown from this tour? Oh
my god?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Just realizing like just be patient, keep going, you know
what I'm saying, be patient, work hard. I mean even
with like my own team, Like just just realizing, just
constantly reminding myself, well this sounds crazy, but there they're
(20:00):
really special and just reminding myself that you know, things
happen and like, you know, maybe instead of like freaking
out sometimes like okay, like take a step back, like
you know, there's technical difficulties sometimes, like because sometimes as
an anxious person, I could feel like it's in the
end of the world, but really.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
It's real life. It's everything is not always gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Yeah, but it's also good to have those those coping
mechanisms to know when something does happen, you know, how
do I handle it?
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Because some things out of your control.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Hell yeah, hell yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
You just have to be like, okay, me, like doing
all this isn't gonna fix the situation, right, so let's
working on the solution for it.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Yes, So I'm learning to just be more relaxed and
at peace. And I've just been drinking my tea and
that's been helping.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Right, sitting my tea and in my business, taking my weater.
Working out, So how often do you work out?
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Every day? I try to do something like now I'm
getting into jumping jacks. I've been doing jumping jacks. I
don't know if it's doing anything, but I'm trying to.
I try, like throughout the day, I try to get
up to five hundred.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Yeah, not consecutively. It's not like a non stop like
major pain or something, but it's like, yeah, I'm doing that.
And then sometimes there's a There's this woman called Grow
with Joe on YouTube. She's phenomenal. She has this hit
workout where you just you run real fast for like
thirty seconds and then you walk or you take a break,
(21:34):
and then you run real fast again on the incline.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Okay, so hit workouts plateau, Yeah, because sometimes you have
to do those like intimately, yes.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
Exactly, and you keep your muscle that way and you
build muscle. It's okay walking probably.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
You know walk Yeah, yeah, I walk.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
I run from rats, like when I see a rat.
So listen with the news song and video get clos
Does that mean a new album is on the way?
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Not to pressure you.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yeah, actually yeah, we're we're working on a lot of
music so hopefully soon, not that soon, like maybe in
a few years were working this. We have a lot
of songs. I'll say we have like five strong songs.
(22:29):
I need ten more strong songs.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Okay, five is good. We have a whole way more
than that.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
But that you feel, Yeah, so I'm gonna need ten more.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Okay, that's good. That's one third of the way there.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
And then I want to drop. I want to drop
like a nine song project. I think that's so clean,
Like Okay, Michael and Maxwell they always you know the
nine dropped? Yeah, I like it.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Yeah, get close? Is that an Algreen sample?
Speaker 3 (22:56):
Oh my god, you're amazing. I did not do my research.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
I feel like it's okay, you know, I love al Green.
Should we find out? Oh we can, but maybe it's not.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
But I will say, but that's why like the level
of the music that you do, Like I said, because
I love that type of music that's timeless. That's why
I like your voice is just and with those the
beats and the music, I just feel like it's just amazing.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
That's how I'm always an Ari Lennox fan.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Thank you?
Speaker 4 (23:24):
You know, all right?
Speaker 1 (23:25):
A sex location, it's a lot, thank you. Pick one
age sex location? We got another word, sex, all right?
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Sex?
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Music, television or just breathing, hearing each other's breath. What
do you like to hear? You like music on?
Speaker 4 (23:40):
You like the TV on? Or you like to keep
it quiet and you can just hear each other.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Music. I remember one time I liked this guy so
much and I was listening. I found out about Cleo
Soul around that time, and there's this beautiful song called Masterpiece.
I think it was the combination of the set and
like that song. Playing it, like a tear like came
down my eye. I was like, Oh, this is just
(24:06):
so hot. It's so beautiful, just beautiful music is just
like I sing and cherry on top of like a
beautiful cake. Like the sex problem wasn't even all that great.
It was probably it was all of it. I think
the song helped I really do. Like I was like,
did you play this? And he said, oh, no, it
(24:28):
was just on a playlist. I thought it was deeper.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Than what it was.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Remember back in the day, P used to have like
mixtapes and they would put together like a whole playlist exactly.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Probably on some playlists.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yeah really, I'm so sure that you were on some
sex playlist.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Thank you. Wow.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
How would that feel if you were having sex and
your song came on on a random playlist?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Oh? Turn that shit off right now. It's just awkward.
I don't want to hear myself. It's not about me,
it's not about ari right now, you know, it's about Ari,
It's about Courtney. Courtney's my real name. While I'm fucking
like I don't want to have nothing to do with all. Right,
this is escapism, Like, so when you date it's Courtney, Like, yeah,
(25:11):
if you know me and you like love me and
we love each other and I love you, it's Courtney
for real.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
When you date somebody, do you google them?
Speaker 3 (25:21):
I'm trying to stop, Okay, So this is what I've
I've stopped going to the toxic parts of the web
to look at like what the people.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
Say some of them.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Right, some of the forums and stuff. I stopped doing that,
but I will google some things like Okay, let's make
sure your criminal history isn't like on Google.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Right, because you're not like a pedophile?
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Yeah, exactly right, Right, that's where we draw the life, right,
because are you gonna steal from me? I ain't gonna
shop lift my house, So I don't know.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
I mean that's different. Yo. What have you ever had
a girl hit you up and be like are you
talking to my man?
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (26:04):
My god? Never anything that deep. But it's just like
I'll be getting to know like a guy on Instagram,
the dms, and it's the weirdest thing. A woman will
hit me up in the messages and he's like she was.
It was a few times. One girl was like are
you talking to so and so? I'm like, what the hell?
Speaker 4 (26:23):
Like that's a good sign for me, Like not exactly.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
As soon as I see that, I'm cause it's like,
how do you have this information? How do you have
this knowledge? Is he talking to you about me? Is?
Do you have access to his Instagram? It's giving forensic files.
I'm good, Like I don't want to be a part
of this.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
Do you know what you're looking for when it comes
to dating? You know what you want?
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Now? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Because part of that is knowing what you don't want. Yes, Okay,
someone who is my best friend, I'm their best friend.
We're not giving up, Like I respect you so much,
I'm not walking out that door like you make me
want to try and challenge myself in ways I never
have before, Like we're not giving up. And someone healthy,
(27:08):
someone who even if they're not the best communicator, they
are open to change, like open, they're they're actively growing.
Someone who acknowledges you know, their their traumas, they're stubborn
ways like whatever it may be, like you're you're actively
trying to like you're self aware, you're facing yourself maybe
(27:30):
with a therapist or with a journal or you know,
like just someone.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Who's self aware and doing the work, healthy, doing the work, fine, funny,
rich and not an upcoming right, not a rapper. I
can't do it. I like to talk to them, I
like to flirt with them. There's some guys I really
do like to flirt with, but sex dating. I don't
(27:55):
want a rapper. I like, this may sound weird, but
I do like athletes. I think, why would that sound weird?
Because I feel like a groupie or something saying that
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
Trust me, they love you really well.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
Why don't they say hi?
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Because you don't check your DMS? I do?
Speaker 3 (28:11):
You know what? They do?
Speaker 4 (28:13):
Say hi, thank you?
Speaker 3 (28:14):
But then but then after a while it's just like okay,
like when you're gonna ask me on a date?
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Nothing, maybe because you're not giving the vibe because they
do send.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
My ass, like, send my ass on a picture.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
Have you ever sent pictures of yourself?
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Absolutely? The other day, it's all I have at this point.
I'm sorry, it's the most it's the most action I'm getting.
It's sending this ass through the phone and if there's
a scandal, I'm happy.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
How look look great?
Speaker 3 (28:44):
And look everything looking good?
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Are you like addicted to working out now?
Speaker 1 (28:47):
I know sometimes when you first get started it could
be hard, but then some people are like now I
just feel like I have to do it.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
No.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Yeah, I'm not addicted at all. It's it's hard every time.
It's annoying every time. I'm pissed every time until.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Keep going and seeing the results.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
And I think that matters a lot, Like when you
can look at just having be like, damn, I look good.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I do like that. I want to I need a
trainer so I could really go farther. I have this
thing where it's like I don't allow people to serve me.
I want to, like really just let down my guard,
let people serve me, help me. So I think having
a trainer will really elevate me. I'm tired of doing everything.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
You should do it, but I wouldn't look at it
as serving you because if they were right, they wouldn't
be getting paid and stuff.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Wow wow, wow, is actually.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Allowing somebody to work and have a job, and so
those things are important because somebody working with you is
going to get the mother.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Clients to talk shit.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Yeah, And that's why I also believe in always paying
people for stuff you know, sometimes about you and be like, oh,
I'll train you for free if you could just do
this post, but no, let me pay you, right, and
then when I'm ready to post something, we can do
that and we can elevate your business, you know, to
another level when they see what we've done together.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
So I wouldn't look at it as like somebody's said
giving you.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
I would look at it as like, look, do you
look at yourself when people come and pay to see you.
You know, it is a service that you're doing. But
it's also like they came to see you, they're paying
for it, and they're getting something in return. Okay, you
know right, I like this a lot and I feel that. Okay, Okay, good, well,
I'm glad. Well Ari, you know it's always a pleasure
for me to see you. One more aids sex location pickle.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Okay, thank you? Shoot? Sex? Is that bad? Acute? Is that? Like?
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Now? You like it?
Speaker 3 (30:34):
All?
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Right?
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Lingerie?
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (30:36):
T shirt or a button naked Lingerie shirt?
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Yeah, lingerie has T shirt or butt naked.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
On a Sunday morning with nothing to do?
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Yeah, what is that?
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Okay, let's say real service. You guys are in the hotel.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
All right, because I know, you know, some people don't
wear lingerie at all. Right, So I don't know if
you're a lingerie person and some people like to wear
his T shirt is nice and oversize on you?
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Or would you rather just be buck naked in the bed?
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Okay, So I'm just gonna give you a breakdown. So
lingerie I would love to do. I did that one
time with like my first boyfriend because I really loved
him and I cared about him. We ran a relationship
for a long well not a long time, but like
six months. So that was I was like, Okay, I
can trust this man and I put on my lingerie.
(31:27):
But if he's gone away and like Russia or something,
he leaves behind his T shirt, that'd be nice.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
After THISSU, how did that go?
Speaker 3 (31:37):
How did it go? It was really great?
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Okay, it was hot.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
It was actually and he wasn't even a kisser, but
that moment, that hot ass moment we had, Oh it
was I was so turned on because he was just
kissing me. He was happy, and that.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
Was the only time you ever did that, we could
hit oh the lane.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Yeah yeah, he was the one who like encouraged. That's okay.
In since I have the whole bunch of lingerie, you
just don't. I don't wear it for nobody because maybe
I'm racking it up.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
To shout out to all these athletes. You hear her?
Oh not all these athletes. Oh my god, T shirt?
Tell me that story.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Oh there's no, there's no story. But I'm just imagining
if like a data man and he's in Russia or something,
and like he leaves behind his T shirt and I'll
wear that and then the naked person is just me
all the time.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Okay, I'd rather be naked with the blinds clothes, please
with the okay.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Yeah, when it's safe, We're it's safe, all right.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
So what kind of mood are you in now? How
are you feeling?
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Are you feeling like, Okay, I'm excited for this album
to come out.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
I'm loving everything that's going on.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Like what type of vibe is ario Lettox because I
want to feel what type of vibe this album is
going to be on.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
Oh my goodness, I just just more rawness, more honesty.
I'm going to be creating with a lot of people
next year, and I just want to dig deeper, like
maybe I can, and like let Rob Wave like be
my inspiration in a way of like just really digging
into that pain a bit, and like so it'd be
nice to just maybe be a little bit more raw
(33:09):
than I have been in the past.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
And maybe you had like the pain that you had
with your fun ad libs and commentary, and I.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Think that's a way of doing it. Like that song
by Lily Allen Smile. If you listen to the words,
it's kind of like it's kind of like shady, but
it's the song is so happy, you know what I'm saying,
So it's like there's a balance, like maybe it's still
like a happy up vibe, but maybe the words are
like you know, fu by ce Lo.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
You know what I'm saying, right, I feel like you
kind of do that now though, thank you really, because
it'd be like Solfo, but it also.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Like dirty exactly like this song where I'm Lucky Day.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Yeah, that's a nasty song, yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
But it is also playful, you know. All right, Well,
Ari Lennox, thank you so much for coming through. And
like I said, I appreciate you. I honestly like feel
like you're so inspirational and so amazing as an artist
and as a person.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
I just like everything about you.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Look, you're the same year, your everything.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
This was beautiful, all right, It's way up for Angela
ye Ari Lennox
