I can't say words I want to say, like this
is crazy.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
It's politically incorrect for you to say certain things.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Wow, man, who remember.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Who had the song? And she says spaz on the
song was yeah, it was Lizzo. And then she had
to take the word out the song, saying.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
What spaz I can't say. I don't want to talk
up here, no moment.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
This is crazy, you know, no certain, you can't say ludicrous.
You can't stop.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
It's a Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's a friday.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
What are we talking about Tuesday?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
It's Friday. Empty Light is going to be joining us.
He is a living legend.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I told y'all was in a movie with her.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yes, you did a treasure all right, So Empty Light
will be here today and we're going to start the
show with some love, with some positivity. Let's Hina Light
eight hundred two, nine to fifty one to fifty call
us up. Let's spread love. It's the Brooklyn way. Even
if you live in Jersey.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Turn your lights on, y'all, spreading love to those who
are doing greatness.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Light on, shine a light on.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's time to shine a light on them.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
It's the way up.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
This is a wild place, man, I just don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
My god daughter Nia is here today visiting Niaia. She
goes to Spellman. So everybody who goes to Spellman or
has kids in Spellman, make sure y'all look for my
girl Nia. She's about to be a junior. All right, Well,
let's shine a light today. I want to shine a
light on Treshan Pittard.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I saw his story originally on Black Wealth, and he's
a young entrepreneur in Toledo, only eleven year. He was
only eleven years old when he started his landscaping business.
But what I love about this story is that a
couple of months ago they actually somebody stole all of
his equipment, and somehow the community rallied together to get

(02:11):
him new equipment. After that happens, So I imagine, you're
eleven years old, you start this long care business, some
idiot steals on your stuff, and he told this story
and somebody donated him a brand new lawn mower, and
then he started getting even more and more equipment after that.
So I love to see a young entrepreneur. He said
that he and his siblings plan to start a mowing
client lawn business as soon as possible, and whoever cuts

(02:34):
the most grass gets a twenty dollars bonus.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
That's how you started learning about business and everything early on.
Let me show you a picture, Mano, so you can see.
But his name is Trey Shawn Pitter. So shout out
to you. Yes, I love it. I love to see it.
All right, Well, who do you guys want to spread
some love to? Eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty
Who do you want to shine a light on?

Speaker 4 (02:56):
This is in the rooms from.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
The industry shit, all the gossip out angels spilling that.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
All right, his way up, I'm here, Mano's here, man.
We were just looking at this Travis Scott footage on TMZ.
He was arrested in Paris at five am, and they
said he was fighting his own bodyguard.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Sometimes you got to swing on people.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Well, you know what, while he's out in Paris, right,
it feels like he's had a lot of issues with
the paparazzi. He's telling them find something to do to
leave him alone. Well, they said he was arrested for
getting into that fight with his bodyguard, who he felt
was slacking on the job. They said he was extremely
upset with the security after multiple days of being chased
and harassed by paparazzi. So this footage to him getting

(03:40):
put into the cop car that was security would have
been able to block all that if you weren't fighting him.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, but.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
It's interesting because a lot of people were like, Oh,
he's on drugs, this, he's that, But it seems like
he just was annoyed. He was a little he was
tweaking a little.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
He looked a little tweaky.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
All right, now, let's talk about Mayna. Hey, Mano has
a new show. He posted on Oh that's too Yeah,
it is okay, recording right here, and he posted new
show alert. Keep telling y'all that my new moves are
way better than my old ones. No mana, all right,
So here is a little snippet of that show.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Yeah, yo, last night you shout at your house is
my house?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
You can move in tonight.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Got a whole human woman start in my house right now,
like she can't get out physically.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
She did.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
It's like a crisis management right here.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Well, we won't have that crisis if you were dating
one woman. I'm starting, Oh my Goddy eat all day.
This mystery here on EA too hell little heard me
throw you know what.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
I'm saying, Yeah, may A Universe.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I had a chance, by the way to actually see
this episode, which is very exciting.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
James DeVos and they shout out to my brother James
the Wos.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
You know, we put it together and this is this
is going to be really, really really great. It's really fun.
But the thing is nobody expected this. It's different.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Well, you got a toast today we have to Yeah, yes, Mana,
all right that we got it you. I love this
for us now. I want to say Dan walked in
here while he was cutting the clip and was like,
we didn't make the cut as far as the trailer
has an appearance, and so do I. It's going to happen,

(05:38):
all right, and I'm so excited for that. Make sure
you guys go look at that on Mayno's Instagram page. Also,
ninety day fiance Angela has filed for anment from her
husband Michael. You know, I watched this show so much.
I've been watching the reunion and then they're all in
the same house, Angela be going crazy on Michael. I
don't know. If anybody watches the show, please tap in

(06:00):
with me. But when I tell you she is always yelling,
I'm gonna show you some footage. She is always yelling
and screaming at him. Other people in the house are like,
you got to chill out, And so now she's fouled
for Annomen. She said she married him on January twenty seventh,
twenty twenty, in Nigeria, and they have continuously lived in
a status separation for thirty days preceding this filing. Her

(06:21):
grounds for a moment are that Michael fraudulently induced her
into a marriage for the purpose of gaining legal permanent
residence status in the United States. So she said there's
no joint property, no joint debt to be divided, and
she asked that her last name be restored to Deem,
which is what it was previously. So she feels like
he used her to get into this country.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
When you see her times, you got to do that.
You may understand it well, you want to get into
a country, you.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Gotta, But anybody just please hit me up if you
watch the show, because I want to have conversations with y'all.
All right about last night when we come back eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Also, you can
always leave a message, like I said, we'll discuss what
we did last night. Kiss me through the phone. So Dubois,
way up.

Speaker 3 (07:00):

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, what'd you do last day?

Speaker 6 (07:13):
I was outside, man, Happy birthday to my god ag.
You know, we celebrated his birthday over at this karaoke spot. Dope,
super dope karaoke spot right here in the city. I'm
not gonna say exactly where it was.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
That in Korea Town.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
It's not far from here. Oh you know what is
in the thirties. I think it's in the twenties. Yeah,
it's in the thirties.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Okay, all right, yes, so it is.

Speaker 1 (07:38):

Speaker 2 (07:44):

Speaker 1 (07:46):

Speaker 2 (07:48):
You're right, that's a great one.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
I realized that I don't know how I don't know
the words a new R and B song.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
But they could put it up. Yeah, but it's just like,
you know, likes to do karaoke. Din Now rawlings every
time we go do anything with him. I had a
karaoke birthday with Dave Chappelle hosting one year, and it
was it was in Austin, Texas. It was during the
pandemic when it was irresponsible. Everybody had one mic and
got COVID. Yeah, but you know, I'm glad we all

(08:15):
made it past that. I don't really have a necessarily
a go to song. I rock with whatever everybody else
wants to do it whatever. I'm trying to think what
song I did, because they do give you the words.
We did a sung and pepper song. What song did
we do?

Speaker 7 (08:29):
Well?

Speaker 2 (08:29):
I can't remember what. Maybe we did what a man I.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Remember me and t I did? Did uh did? What
was it? Uh snooping? Doctor Trey? Yeah? No, oh you did? Okay, fraud,
I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
It ain't no fun?

Speaker 1 (08:47):
What?

Speaker 7 (08:47):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (08:48):
No, you shouldn't never mind what. I can't believe that
song you.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Used to get huh yo.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Song, classic song, your go to karaoke song. Everybody else
in the room is shaking their head. What is all right?

Speaker 1 (09:05):

Speaker 2 (09:05):

Jess Brooklyn and it's for Yes, I'm from Brooklyn. It's
called Jess Brooklyn, but it is for the U the
Foundation for the Barclays, and they actually give it are
giving out grants. So they narrow down to ten different
contestants and then we pick five people to give the

(09:27):
grants to different philanthropic organizations in Brooklyn. And so I
was on that call for two hours yesterday with everybody
else to setting who was going to get those grants?

Speaker 1 (09:37):

what is the We're gonna build a center.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
In a better tomorrow. Let me look this up. Oh

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Eight years and you said you want to blow him
up today. Yeah, you have two kids with this man.
He had a kid last year with somebody else, and
he was married.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
And married the whole time for seven years.

Speaker 7 (11:39):
The wird time. We've been in an alt five years together.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
You want to do?

Speaker 2 (11:52):
What smashed one of his friends this weekend? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
And then you're gonna let him know.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Yeah, I'm gonna know what we wanted to do.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
And his friend already knows this is gonna happen. He's
with it.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Yeah, the friend, his friend is a sucker.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
My gosh, his friend is.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
A friend is a sucker.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
That's wild. His friend is a coward.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
His friend is a coward.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
This man is not a good person. His friends tell me.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Board. Yeah, everybody's a coward.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
All right, you guys don't need to go to Oz
the Wizard of Oz. All right, Well, thank you so
much for calling and sharing with us. Hand at him
his color?

Speaker 7 (12:35):

Speaker 2 (12:37):
It's me and Mana. We want to hear your secret.
It's safe with us.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
I had with my friend and her boyfriend, and now
we're just talking to me and the guy.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Nice. What you should do is don't hide it, right.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
You should go to your friends and say, listen, we
had the threesome. I didn't know that I was going
to be feeling those feelings, and I think that we
should all bring it all in and you know, one
big happy family, big love baby. Don't be a sucker
and sneak behind your friend back and be laying laying
around with her, man like, be like put it out there.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
You might as well go all away with it.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Were there's some rules. How do you think your friend
is going to react when she finds or if you
told her, what do you think she would say?

Speaker 4 (13:19):
I'm not sure.

Speaker 7 (13:20):
That was my first time ever, and I just tell her.
Feel like you might be bad, but I don't understand
why you shouldn't invite.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Me into the bedroom.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
So you like him?

Speaker 7 (13:27):
No, not necessarily, Yeah, you kind.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Of you like him? You like you like you like
him in the bed?

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Okay, well you moms, listen, you might as well be off.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
You invite somebody, you invite that potential.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yeah, keep it going.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
That was my secret all right, Well, thank you for
sharing with us. We appreciate it. No judgment. All right,
Well that was tell us a secret. And speaking of
telling secret, so let's talk about the return of Kresha. Please.
I know you watched it may No, yeah, no, I
watched the clips. All right, Well we'll discuss you had
to say as she sat down with Sassy Santana and
revealed her truths.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Its way up, yo, she's about to blow the lid
ab off this.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
But let's get it.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Angelus feeling that ye tea, Come and get the tea.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Let's get it. It's way up. I'm here, manos here,
no time. Season two premiere of Kresha please on Revolt
Young Miami. And when all these things were happening with Diddy,
a lot of people were wondering, what is she going
to say? Why isn't she speaking up? Well, she was
able to answer all of those questions as Saucy Santana
sit down and questioned her, here is what you have

(14:34):
to say about being silent during that time?

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Why didn't you speak?

Speaker 9 (14:38):
Because I can't speak on something that was in my experience,
and I can't speak on something that I don't know.
I can't speak on these allegations because I wasn't around
at the time. I don't know that person, and that
wasn't my experience.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
He never hits you in a relationship.

Speaker 9 (14:52):
I've been through her mess about it into relationships, and
I told myself, I think the second relationship, I would
never put myself in the situation. Again, I don't send
for domestic violence. I'm just not going for that.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
All right, she been through it before, right, she'd been
through it before, so she didn't have that experience with Paul.
I've seen people mad at her for that, Like, how
you're gonna be mad at her for that? That That
wasn't her experience. That's not the guy that she met.
That's not the person that she knew. Whatever whatever happened
in his past was something that he did not guess
bring to that relationship.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
I definitely, in the past dated a guy who was
very cool to me, and then another woman he dated
later on, Right, And so I empathized, But I'm like,
I didn't have anything, and I.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Couldn't believe nobody could be mad at you for that.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah, no, no, no, but right, I was glad that
I got away from her anyway, as far as her
whether or not she's still dating Puff. She is not,
And here's what she had to say about that.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Are you still that a Puff? Then I'm not.

Speaker 9 (15:48):
It really really really hurt me because I just feel like,
you know, Pope was a really really good person to me,
but I just felt like when all of these things
came out, I just needed to take.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
A break and focus on what's importing.

Speaker 9 (15:58):
It was just me in my career, and I just
feel like, you know, what's just everything that's going on,
Like I don't want to get caught up in it.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Yeah, I mean, stop it susy.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Right now. No, I'm not saucy man.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
All right, but but I will say, I mean, what
was she supposed to do at that time?

Speaker 9 (16:22):
Right?

Speaker 2 (16:23):
You know, what are you supposed to do? Stay together?

Speaker 1 (16:26):
She did what she had to do for her mm hmmm.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Yes she did. And another person she split up with
was JT. As we all know, the City Girls are
no longer together. JT has spoken on it. People would
question why didn't Young Miami hold JT down when JT
was beefing online.

Speaker 9 (16:43):
With Cardi B. And here's what you have to say
about that. We don't talk every day, but it's not
beefo mi En. I still look at her like it's family.
But once we go to the end there, I feel
like you're trying to get people to pick a side.
So how long behind the scenes have do you feel
like I have things being rocky between.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
It's been a minute.

Speaker 8 (17:01):
We all grew each other.

Speaker 9 (17:02):
I feel like she was in La, I was in Miami.
She was been working on her on the n L.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Yeah, I'm really sad to see them.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Break up and listen, the City Girls was all.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
I really was a fan of the City Girls too.
I really liked the music. I remember my.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
First time seeing Young Miami perform. JT was still locked up.
It was a powerhouse event and those are my songs.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
When I got turned on to them.

Speaker 6 (17:28):
JT was in jail and and Young Miami was holding
it down. But they had enough records with JT on
it already, so they had did a lot.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Of Miami but performed.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Yeah, yeah, she held it down definitely.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
So they've been through it. But I hope that they
can at least continue to cordial with each other, come
back together, do some things together at times, do things individually,
because I do think it's important when people are in
a group to also have your own solo.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Indeed, this game breaks up relationships and I hate to
see that.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Yeah, I mean, look at you. You have your groups. Which
one you got the lobby boys, right, and then you
have the babies. Ye, babies got the way up gang.
Sometimes you show up, sometimes.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
You don't stop it, and then you have a replacement
for me. Already we broke up. I'm doing my.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Interview anyway, moving on. Uh now, as far as young
Miami's current mental state, here's what you have to say
about that.

Speaker 9 (18:24):
Like where you are mentally, I'm just all over the
planks women and I'm happy women in them, said women.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
And I'm kind of like.

Speaker 9 (18:32):
Then I'm looking at my kids and I'm like, and
bring us this spot to go backwards.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I start paying.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Though it's a lot to go through. It's a mother
of two, you know, she's got a lot going on,
and I.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Judge from the outside it judge, but I never hand.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
All right, well that is your Yet that was all
devoted to Kisha.

Speaker 8 (18:55):
Please.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Now when we come back, we have under the radar.
These are the stories that are not necessary in the
headlines there under the raidar. I was going to report
this story the other day, Mano, and this is a
story that I sent to you behind the scenes. But
I was like, you know what, let's wait till Mano
comes back in. I believe Brian Malar was here that day.
I was like, let's wait until Mano comes in, and
I want to talk about this with you because you
actually went through this. I'm going and you're still going

(19:19):
through it, so we'll talk about it when we come back.
Under the radar. It's way up in the news that.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Relates to you. These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
All right, it's way up. I'm here and I guy
Maino's here. Oh money, Oh no, let's get into these
under the radar stories. But one in particular that I
think is important to talk about is this cash app.
Cash app uses have until November eighteen to submit their
claim for reimbursement for a data and security breach so
you could get some cash into your bank account soon.

(19:49):
They have to pay fifteen million dollars in damages. Now
let's talk about this because you had some issues.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Yeah, I'm still having issues with cash app in my bank.
I had thirty K fraud on my bank account through
cash app.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Now are they giving you back your money because I think.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
They're gonna give it back, but they're making me work
for it. What I got to do, I got a
continuously like harassed them. You know, I had to send documentations.
I had to actually call cash shap get some documentation,
showed them that it didn't come from my cash shap,
that it was fraudulent.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
So I mean, we're working on it. Yeah, so need
my money, man.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
The lawsuit said that there was a data breach that
resulted in the unauthorized public release of the personally identifiable
information of eight point two million current and former cash
app Investing customers. And then there was a former employee
who gained access to cash app users personal information during
that person's.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
That's happened to me.

Speaker 6 (20:46):
They must have took my information and put on another
cash shap, so the bank don't know the difference.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
So you're also, by the way, eligible to submit a
claim for up to twenty five hundred dollars in addition
to this, if you had unauthorized or fraudulent with drawals
or transfers of funds between August twenty third and twenty
eighteen and before August twentieth of twenty twenty four, just
so you know, so.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
I need my money, man, Yeah, I'm his money.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
All right, Well that is you're under the radar now,
you know. It's a Friday. I got The Way Up
mixed at the top of the hour. Plus we got
Empcy Light joining us today. She's got an album coming
out in September, but she also has two singles out
right now. She has King King and she has a
woman all right, o King, Yeah, two Kings are turning,
Queen Latifa all that. They are definitely kings and Queen's

(21:31):
and definitely legendary. All right, it's way up. She's like
the chalk like they Angela Jean like they Angela Jean.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Man, she's spilling it all. This is yet way up.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Yeah, it's way up at Angela. Yee, I'm here. Mayno's here.

Speaker 10 (21:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Baby.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
My goddaughter's at work with me today. But she keeps
on falling the sea because she had to get up
early to come in kids nowadays. All right, well let's
get right into it. First of all, today would have
been King Von's thirtieth birthday, so we have to acknowledge
that how long has it been?

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Four years? Has it feels like it twenty.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Feels like it's longer than that, but he would have
been thirty years old today, So again, rest in peace
to King von all Right. Neo was honored with his
own day and key to Las Vegas during his residency show,
So congratulations to him. That is his hometown, Vegas, and
while he was just two songs into his set, the

(22:32):
mayor surprised him with the key. Fat Joe also got
the key to New York City. But he said everybody
was upset about that. He was on Instagram and said this.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Everybody was a little upset.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
But I don't know another guy who keeps Shireala with
the streets in New York. The Fat Joe feeds more people,
open more businesses.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
I don't know who was upset, but he's saying that
people were upset, so you know, I didn't see that,
but you like that for Sho. Now the honor is
going to be August twentieth and Orchard Beach in his
backyard of the Bronx, So congratulations to him.

Speaker 7 (23:11):
Now.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
T Pain reveals that he makes between fifty and sixty
thousand dollars an hour playing video games on live stream
on Twitch, and that's why he has no desire to tour.

Speaker 6 (23:23):
Overseas fifty sixty k hour hour. Okay, it's unbelievable, like
you never come outside.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
He also said he's on the low tier of that.
He said there's people making millions a month. He said
he's making less than T Grizzly. And when we talk
about hourly race, he said, I know I'm doing less
than him. I can't blame him. Listen, bye bye, way up. No,
I'm kidding. I'll still be here now. Kilani and her
ex Javon Young White, they have both released statements responding

(23:52):
to reports that she's in a cult. You know, she
said that it was an incredibly hurtful and accurate and
appropriate and simply untrue. And he has also put out
a statement and said, on August sixth, the public became
aware of court documents that were submitted without my approval
by my former representation. These documents contained general recollections from

(24:13):
my initial consultation with my aforementioned repped. They were filed
with choice language I didn't okay, I regret they were included,
so he said, as a father, I could have never
anticipated that such serious allegations would be so careless. I
still believe my alarm was proportionate to the information I
received from the trusted parties. However, I deeply regret and
apologize for any role I played in perpetuating these claims.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
But he didn't say that that thing was not true.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Yeah, he said, before my daughter joined the church, I
advocated for my child's agency, as I would about any
sudden lifestyle shift or new parental custodians. So I guess
what he's saying. It was the language, all right.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
But it's still a cult.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
He said he doesn't think Santaia is a sex cult.
And he did not say his daughter is in a
sex cult. Be was the language of whoever filed this.
All right, Well that is your yeetee. And you know
it's a Friday, and it's a new music Friday. Everyone
is talking about this Lotto album and we do have
some of what is most talked about from that album.
When we come back.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
Its way up, this relationship with career advice. Angela's dropping facts.
You should know.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
This is ask what's up?

Speaker 2 (25:17):
His way up? But Angela, Yee, I'm here, my guy
Meino's here, I know, and it's time for ask Yee
eight hundred and two nine two fifty one fifty is
a number. Right now, we have Tony on the line.
What's up, Tony? What's your question for? Ask ye?

Speaker 10 (25:29):
So I recently started talking to this girl and well,
for reference, I'm I'm white, okay, and well Italian and
she's black. And my dad found out because I brought
her back to our place because like I still have
a home and he is not happy about that? Whatsoever?

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Man?

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Why because she's black?

Speaker 7 (25:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (25:51):
And what did he say when you said he's not happy? Like,
what did he say about it?

Speaker 10 (25:55):
What is she doing in our house?

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Ooh, that's tough, man, that's awful that your dad is racist?
What about your mom? What does she say?

Speaker 10 (26:04):
My mom is one of these like she doesn't care,
but like she does, like we're talk from like this
old school Italian family.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
M m.

Speaker 10 (26:12):
She's also not about it, but she's not as vocal
as my dad, who literally will be on the street
and like, don't say those people.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
That is awful because that sucks because that's your dad
and you know, you know him, and of course you
don't want the rest of the world to know your
dad is a racist, but he's a damn racist.

Speaker 6 (26:29):
So so yeah, so how do you feel though, So, like,
are you conflicted because you feel like you want to
do what your parents want you to do or you
want to be with this lady that you like.

Speaker 10 (26:40):
Yeah, I don't want to disappoint my parents. We felt
like that love and that bomb, but also like I
really like her.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
Well it sounds like more like your your parents are
disappointing you. Isn't that you're disappointing them because they're actually
disappointing you in this situation.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Your parents is racist?

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Yeah, I mean it is.

Speaker 10 (26:58):
Also I also live with them, so I don't want
to also get kicked out.

Speaker 6 (27:01):
But sometimes you got to get kicked out in life
to do what you need to do. Sometimes you gotta
crawl before you walk, right, So it's just like, man,
my parents, I gotta do what I gotta do.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
What does your girlfriend think about all this? Does she know?

Speaker 6 (27:12):
How?

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Is she aware?

Speaker 10 (27:14):
No, she doesn't know she and like I don't want
to tell her.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
I gotta take a stamp, my man.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Yeah, it is important for you to do that. And
your parents are wrong. It ain't like there's some type
of debate of it's not a matter of opinion. They're
factually up for this. Yeah, it's not even a question.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Ye, cursing. I'm the one to curse.

Speaker 10 (27:34):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
I feel your pain because I come from a mixed family.
You know, I have Chinese side in my family, and
definitely there were people on that side of the family
that had an issue with my mom being black, you know,
and my parents still went and got married. That's right
at the time that they did. And I think that
it's really important for you to make that change. There's
going to be people in your family who feel that
way and people who don't.

Speaker 10 (27:55):
What about like the I don't know, showing them who
she is, and like maybe even teach them like, hey,
they're just like you and I you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
I mean, you can try and you know it will
change your minds and it won't. But I will say
it's not your responsibility to do that. If they're willing
to learn and be more open minded, and maybe you
will make a change. But I would say, don't get
your hopes up because racism when people have been feeling
that way for their whole life, you know, and look hopefully,

(28:24):
because he'll have some interactions with her and her family,
he will feel different. But that shouldn't make you have
to be any different from who you are. It shouldn't
make you not like who you want to like, and
it shouldn't make you not be with who you want
to be with. That's their problem, as young Leila would say,
it's not my problem.

Speaker 10 (28:42):
Yeah, yoh, thank.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
You, And you got to stand up for that. That
is not my problem. And I will not stand for
racism and I will date who I want to date.
And if you have a problem with me because of that,
then take it up with yourself.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
Know what you tell your parents, she said, Listen, mom, dad,
I'm coming in here with black babies.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
I'm up here with black baby. That's right.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
It's you, So you're gonna have black grandchildren, right, yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Okay, suck it.

Speaker 10 (29:13):
Thank you guys, all.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Right, thank you, Tony. All right, Well that was asked
ye eight hundred two ninet two fifty one fifty. If
you can't get through, you can always leave a message
or answer your question that way and when we come back.
Emc Light is joining us. Her album One of One
is due out in September, but right now she has
a song called King King featuring Queen Latifa that's out
right now. But you know she's a legend, so we

(29:35):
got to get into it.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
It's way up you way up with Angela yee.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
More now what's up?

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Its way up with Angela ye And it's definitely way up.
We got two Brooklyn girls in the building. I'm here
with EMC Light.

Speaker 8 (29:48):
Yes, it's a pleasure.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
It is such an I always tell you like I
want EMC Light to come up here because you are
just somebody that I've looked up to ever since I
was young. And then have a mess you one person
so many years ago when we he hosted something together.
It was like a New Year's countdown or something. I
was like, this is so surreal to me.

Speaker 8 (30:06):
I don't even remember that.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
Let me tell you. You've done everything so many years.
Yes in this thing right, people are like, you don't.

Speaker 8 (30:12):
Remember that event we did, and.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Like I do events three hundred days a year.

Speaker 8 (30:17):
Anyway.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
You are putting out a new album and woman, that's
the song that we've already heard. We saw it with
Raheem DeVaughn and Big Daddy Kane. What a nice group
of people. And you've been on the Queen's of R
and B tour. Yeah, but how does all this feel
for you?

Speaker 4 (30:35):
I'm just glad to still be in it and still rocking.
And the process for the album was just it was fantastic.
I love being in the process of making an album.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
What about your catalog because I know a lot of
people are doing deals for publishing and they are doing
deals with their masters. What have you done with yours?

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Nothing?

Speaker 4 (30:55):
I'm keeping it, keeping it all Okay, Well, first off,
I don't own my masters. Unfortunately, I came in at
a time with the record labels.

Speaker 8 (31:02):
You didn't really think about it. You said, oh, give
me this opportunity. Okay, I got it, but they gave.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
It very bad. I know there's like a timeline where the.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
You have to you have to go after it, and
I think it's like thirty five years. But no, I
do not have my master's back. But I've got so
much more new music that I own the masters too.
That's what I concentrate on pushing.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
That's a lesson because you were a teenager when you
first came out girl, and that was a time when
nobody really knew the business. It was kind of a
wild wild West for music.

Speaker 8 (31:30):
Yes, it really was.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
And I used to work one week, go to school,
when week work one week. It was part of the
co op program, and I worked at bear Stearns at
the World Trade Center. Okay, right, being there, I was
surrounded by brokers, and so I got this record contract.
I don't know the first thing about getting an attorneys.
So I let one of the brokers look at at
the contract and he said, well, everything looks good except

(31:53):
they want to own fifty percent of your publishing. I
was like, is that a bad thing? He was like,
just tell them that you don't want to give it
to them. I said, oh, okay. So I called up
the record label. I was like, okay, so the contract
is cool. I just I don't want to give a
fifty percent of my publishing. And they said, oh, well,
then there's no deal. I was like, oh okay, so
then I'll sign it.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Right.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Well, he gave me some good advice, but you didn't
feel like you had the leverage because you wanted to. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
It was like, okay, am I gonna make a zero
of one hundred percent.

Speaker 8 (32:20):
Or something from fifty?

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (32:22):
So I signed my publishing right now.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
MC light is in the building a legend. And then
you know the other thing about MC letter is I
feel like during this whole journey of watching your whole evolution.
We also never got a lot of personal stuff. But
then as of late, I feel like you've opened up
a lot more about that. Is that a weird space
for you to me?

Speaker 8 (32:42):
And No, most recently I think you might be talking
about to.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Get into divorce and then and then a boyfriend and
posting that we never had really seen you can.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
I tell you, I have so many photos in my
phone of he and I, but to post them is
just like do I want to let people in? But
I can all so so say that the fans have
been so completely supportive.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
And you don't like roughnecks clearly because you know, maybe
you went through a face.

Speaker 8 (33:11):
You know what's so funny.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
I talk to my brother and I said, so, I've
got this guy. He's a little square. He was like,
that's good because these biggerness are too slick for themselves,
That's what he says. So we just talk about the
rough necks a little too slick for themselves.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
That was our song though. That's when, because we all
went through that phase, we were like I need a
rough neck. Look.

Speaker 8 (33:33):
It was a place in time we have evolved.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
There was one line where you said he got to
eat his food with his fingers and said, I'm like,
now that's too far.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
My grandfather said, anything with a bone you can pick
up with your hands.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
All right, mc light is here. We're talking about her
new single King King. Also a new album, one of
one is on the way in September. We have more
with her when we come back. It's way up with
angel Let's go.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
You are a media maven, right.

Speaker 6 (34:00):
Oh, you never know what Angie's gonna say.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Its way up? But Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee. And
somebody who I've always admired, Auntie's from Brooklyn. Empty Light
is here. You know what I always wanted to ask
you too, because during that time coming up, I remember
you engaged in some hip hop beef activities and we're
watching a lot of that play out now. But how
was that for you back then? Like when you and
vox Ane Chante kind of went at it, you had

(34:24):
to respond, but it felt like it was really just
on wax.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
It wasn't like if I saw you as on yeah,
what was it like? It was just on wax? And
you know, many years later I went to her ice
cream shops. So I went there, I patronized her business.
You know, we sat, we talked, and we cleared the air,
and I think, you know, unfortunately I don't know what
it is today, but back then, most beefs were fueled.

Speaker 8 (34:49):
By the men. Two women could kind of work things out.

Speaker 4 (34:52):
We're gonna talk, but we're not gonna talk, but we ain't
gonna be bickering, and all we all we understand what
this game is and some of us we just don't
get a lot to be friends, but we can be
cordial and say hello to one Everybody ain't gotta be besties,
right and be a part of the tribute and do
all of the things that we need to do well.
I tend to think that back in the day, it
was men saying you're the only you're the best.

Speaker 8 (35:15):
You gotta fight for your.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Right to only be the queen on the throne, or
whatever it is that they say to people. But I
think once you get older, you're able to work it out.
And that's what happened with Antoinette and myself, and that's
what happened with Rocks and Shanta.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
But it also was something that just happens in hip
hop too, because it is the guys do it all
the time. And I've heard women say this, like, why
do people get mad when we you know, the guys
are doing these distracts toward each other. Why do they
act like it's a big deal when women do it?
Because it's a competitive sport. Run and you would say
some vicious things. I'm not gonna lie and here.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
Well, at the time, I mean, my stuff was just
so off the wall. It was like pop your head
in a microwave and watch a skin bubble. You know,
it was just what is the most outlandish thing that
I could say?

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Right here? Right?

Speaker 8 (35:58):
And that's what it was made about.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
I think maybe they expect more from women because it's
so few of us, so few of us, How are
we not going to get along at least be cordial
enough that we don't have to dig so under the ground.

Speaker 8 (36:12):
But it is a sport.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Right now, and see light is in the building a legend.
What a nice would you give today? Now if some
of these women rappers were to come to you and
be like, like, what do you think I should do?
Is she came at me? Do I need to respond?
Should I not respond?

Speaker 7 (36:26):
Like?

Speaker 2 (36:26):
What would you say?

Speaker 4 (36:27):
It's a different day and time and when you're of
a certain age and you're in the thick of the
flow of how it goes, you might have to diss
someone to stand up for your space.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (36:42):
There are times when you know, I've heard a little
line or two in somebody's stuff. But it's like, if
they didn't have the goal enough to just say it,
and they had to hide it beneath metaphors, then I'm
not even going.

Speaker 8 (36:53):
To address it.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
And so my thing is not unless it's proven that
they're talking to you, ignore it.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Okay, that's good advice. Well, listen, they're telling me you
have to go. I know you have a lot going on,
and I definitely appreciate these conversations. There's so many EMC
like questions I want to ask, But just know that
I'm always a fan, have been a fan. Every time
I see You've always been like pleasant. You know how
sometimes they tell you don't want to meet your heroes
because it could be devastating, but it's been amazing, you know,

(37:22):
just say thank.

Speaker 8 (37:22):
You so much. Well, this leaves room for me to
come back.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Yeah, it definitely does. The album is now going to
come back, come out in September.

Speaker 8 (37:28):
Yeah, one of one in September. Right now, we're rocking
the King King.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
We're letting everybody know that King King is the single
list on all all platforms.

Speaker 8 (37:35):
The video is up to it.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
That's that voice right there that we with Queen l
All right, well, thank you so much. Now can you
do Way Up with Angela? Yee?

Speaker 8 (37:45):
Way Up with Angela?

Speaker 10 (37:47):

Speaker 2 (37:48):
All right, save that because that's worth money. All right, MC,
thank you so much. You you can watch that phot
interview on my YouTube channel Way Up with Ye and
when we come back, of course, you guys have the
last word on a Friday.

Speaker 3 (38:04):

Speaker 1 (38:05):
What the words?

Speaker 2 (38:07):
The last word on Way Up with Angela?

Speaker 10 (38:09):

a lot of pictures and cameras.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
Come on and don't bring them to Angela Yi Day either.
That's September first. But we're doing we having fun on Brooklyn.

a great weekend. Shout out to my god daughter who
was up here hanging out with us and she could

(39:06):
not she could not hang She went, she went across
the hall to take a nap. Oh wow, because she
had to wake up early. It was not even that
early kids nowadays. Next week, Jordan Child's is going to
be joining us. I'm excited for that. Olympic gold medalist
but also bronze medalist, also part of that trifecta. The
