way up with Angela. Yee, I'm here. Jasmine brand is here.
Good morning, Angela, Good morning. We got a good night
last night, which we get into. Yeah, we did have
(00:20):
a really entertaining night last night. Yes, we're gonna do
that on about last night, but Janelle Money, Yes, let's
just say that. Yes, let's just say that. We're gonna
have a fun show today. Vernon Davis is going to
be joining us. Okay, Yes, he's a former NFL player.
His brother also played in the NFL. Yeah, us in
the family literally, But he is an actor slash producer.
(00:42):
Now he's pretty good at too. Yeah, he's been in
movies with some big people like Bruce Willis. Yes, he
wasn't a film Morgan Freeman had some new stuff coming
out with Fan. Yes, out already, so you can check
that out. We also produced a movie on bat plus
a Sky movie. We'll talk to him about that. You know.
(01:02):
I love a good horror. I'm trying to finish um Swarm.
I still got like three more episodes. I think I
have more than you. Yeah, I was watching it last night,
but by the time we got home, I was kind
of tired. Yeah, but we'll talk about that. Danielle rawlings,
Oh yeah, it's gonna be here today if y'all watch BMF.
Come on, Danielle, come on, Dianelle getting pushed around. Shut
(01:24):
up to the ground. Yes, pumped, not pumped. He was,
I know, and I'm not gonna lie. Dinelle is a girl.
I knew don Nelle since like before he was asked
Larry on the Chappelle Show. Okay, you know you knew
him pre Ashley Larry. We actually you want to hear
a funny story. So Danelle is one of my best ties.
But we hosted um the online Hip Hop Awords together
(01:45):
shh dot com okay, with the RAM site, and so
long ago it was meet him. Will Sylvansu is also
a great comedian, was there with us all so and
we met like at a comedy club in Brooklyn two
steps down and he was so funny. Don Nell's hilaris.
What year do you think that was when you met
don Neelle Angela, Oh, it's a long time ago. This
might before, This might be before I even started doing
(02:07):
radio really, so that's probably it's been doing radio for
how long now, like nineteen years? Okay, but you know,
I'm Donelle at the very beginning before your radio career. Yes, wow,
when you go way back. He used to live in Brooklyn,
but he's from DC, so he's gonna be joining us today.
And we also are going to shine a light. You know,
this is my favorite favorite way to start the showy
(02:29):
shining a light on somebody doing something amazing positive, somebody
who's helped you in any way. Sometimes a little thing
can absolutely make your day. And we want to shine
a light on those people. Eight hundred two nine fifty
one fifty. This is your time to shine a light
on somebody who's done something positive for you, somebody you
want to show some love too, because that's what we
do on Way Up with Angela, Ye, turn your lights on, y'all,
(02:51):
lights spreading love to those who are doing greatness. It's
time to shine I'm light on them. He added his
Way Up with Angela, yee, I'm here. Jasmine Brand is
here with me. Good morning. What's today? Tuesday? Happy Tuesday? Yes,
happy Tuesday, um, and we are ready to shine a light.
(03:12):
Who do you want to shine a light on? I
know you had somebody in mind, No I did not
you did? You were like let's shine a light on
such and such. You said, my boy panel that was
here yesterday. Yes, your boy Parnell yesterday you said that.
I thought you were going to shine a light on him,
because I don't I can't remember the name of his restaurant. Okay,
all right, Mama, what pop and push, pop and push
(03:34):
shining light on popping Pool. He actually brought us some
amazing Haitian patties yesterday. It was chicken, cod and pork.
Not only pork, and you don't eat amazing. I don't
eat codd either, So I had a couple of chicken patties.
Keys are makeup artists. She had the cod. She's texted
me amazing. She texted me after she left, like those
cod patties were amazing. We had the chicken. You know
what the key to it is is the flakiness of
(03:56):
the bread. Yes, the bread is amazing. Yes, we know
you left food girl. Oh my god, but shout out
to my guy part. Now. You know another person I've
known for a long time. He used to have this website,
What's popping dot net. Oh that was before Instagram. I
remember that. I didn't know that was him. Yeah, so
he was the founder of What's Popping dot Net. So
back in the day, if you're young, you won't notice,
(04:17):
but he would go to parties and on this you
can see all the pictures from the parties. Now we
have instagrams, right, he said, instagram happened, So that's what
kind of shutdown What's Popping dot net. But at that
time it was a website where you could see pictures
of everybody out at the parties. I remember that. But
his restaurant is in Long and Long Island. Okay, so
shout out to part now, thank you anybody that brings
us food. We appreciate you, especially when the food is good, Yes,
(04:39):
especially when the food has been sex when it's not
all right? All right, well, eight hundred two nine two
fifty one fifty, it's time for y'all to China. Light
on him and let's talk to Carrie. What's good my daddy? Oh?
Tell us why. He's the best set in the world.
And every single morning he always makes sure he calls
me chills. He's something to keep me motivated to do
(05:01):
better for my kids. I love that. What's your dead name?
Willie Dorsey? Okay? That should make everybody out there be
like you know what. I gotta do the same thing
for my children, call them up every morning or send
them a message last week, well, thank you, Carrie Dominique.
Who do you want to shine a light on this morning?
I want to shine a light on myself. Okay, So
(05:24):
I'm last few weeks, I've been really, really hard. My
baby has been in the hospital, but I have yet
to leave her side. I've had job interviews and I've
been working. So I just want to shout out to myself,
is your baby gonna be okay? Yes, she's fine, she's fine.
All right, Well that's a blessing and we're happened here.
Then you got to shine a light on you. You're
absolutely right being strong, still keeping it going, but also
(05:47):
there for your child. You never know what people going through.
All right, Well that was shine a light on them.
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. If you
want to shine a light on anybody, you can always
call us up. And when we come back, we have
yet we'll talk about a forty million dollar lawsuit. And
this is for bad Bunny on way up with Angela Yee.
This is Coop in the room from industry shade to
(06:10):
Ola Gossip Out, Angela's Sea. Yes, it's way up for Angela. Yee,
Jasmine brand is here. It's here for your Ye team. Now,
Jordan Pille has two movies coming out in twenty twenty
four dot this year, but next year. The first is
his production company, Monkey Part Productions. So that movie is
(06:30):
gonna come out, and that's a thriller. You know, I
love a thriller. I love a horror movie. And then
the other one is scheduled to be released on Christmas
Day twenty twenty four, and he's going to direct that
one himself. That's the untitled one. Yeah, it's untitled. Okay,
So you know he's done great so far. Get Out US, Nope,
they all were pretty successful. Get Out was nominated for
four Oscars and he did win Best Original Screenplay. US
(06:53):
and Nope were Awards Season hopefuls, but people feel like
he was snubbed. But so far, the new movie that's
coming on a Decenter twenty fifth is um. Just all
we know is it's a Christmas movie. Okay, Angela, what's
been your favorite um Jordan Peel film thus far? Um?
I probably liked Out of get Out US and Nope, Yeah,
I think maybe I liked US, Okay, I like to
(07:18):
get Out. Yeah, I figured that, but I did like US.
I figured that. No, I mean, out of those three,
if I had to guess which when you liked get Out,
But I didn't really like US. It was like it
was come too weird for me. But that's that's up
your alley. Yeah, it is all right. And Bryson Tiller
has been trending. You know why why because he announced
that he's going on tour. It's been a five year
(07:40):
hiatus for him. Wow. He said, it's simple. We're back,
taking a trip to the past and giving y'all a
glimpse of the future. Five whole years without touring. Time
really does fly. See y'all soon. Okay. I like Bryson Tiller. Yeah,
he's back and I'm better tour. He actually was at
the iHeart Festival last year. He came out with Diddy. Okay, Yeah,
so that was nice. That was a nice prize because
(08:00):
I'm like, oh, I was excited to see him. So
everybody's really hype about this tour and people are also like,
what's going on because they don't have a lot of details. Yeah,
I wonder how much these tickets are going to be
who I hope they're not a Drake Prices all right?
And Arie Lennox she was to be and the Princess
and the Frog and she actually and I love the
(08:21):
Ari Lenics did this. She posted a video of herself singing.
She said, Hi at Disney, I'm Arie Lennox and I
would love an opportunity to audition for Princess and the
Frog in person. Here's almost there by Anika Noni rose,
(08:50):
you got a girl. I love that at the part, yeah, yeah,
if it's up to us, I love that. Now you
don't have to wait, like you can just put it
out there and wait for the niversal. I love her,
and I love that she wants to be in that too,
and I love that she's from DC. Okay, and bad
Bunny has been hit with a forty million dollar law suit,
and that is from his ex girlfriend, Carlis de la
(09:11):
Cruz Hernandez. I love your accent. Go ahead. Yes, her
voice is on a pair of his songs, and according
to this law suit, she made indistinguishable contributions to Patti
and dosmell. Bende says okay now, Diazzi says sorry, okay.
My Spanish is a little rusty where she says bad
Bunny Baby, and those have been used without legal permission,
(09:34):
is what she is saying. The recording has also been
put to use in promotions worldwide concerts, television, radio, and
social musical platforms, according to the law suit that was
filed in March and a Puerto Rican court. She said,
since then, thousands of people have commented directly on Carlis's
social media networks as well as every time she goes
to a public place about the Bad Bunny Baby. And
this has caused and currently causes that De la Cruz
(09:56):
Hernandez feels worried, anguish, intimidated, overwhelmed and ans By the way,
those songs do have a combined um almost one billion streams.
And how much does she wanted to have been Spotify?
How much is she sewing him for? She's suing him
for forty million dollars okay, right, anxiety cost m And
you know she's also listening in the lawsuit his manager, okay,
(10:20):
and record label and all of those things. You do
have to get some type of clearance. Yeah, you just
can't be going around taking your ex girlfriend's voice and
using it. My voice is actually on an eminem album.
I'm sure your voice is on a few places. You're Angela,
you're kind of known. Yeah, I did a I left
the way, but they did call get clearance. I have
to sign pit. They don't play what is it was
an intro? Was it part of a song? Okay, I'm
(10:42):
on a skit? Okay, we should we should hear that
at some point. All right, it is way up at Angela. Ye,
that is your yet and when we come back about
last night and it's all about new money on way
up in Angela. Ye. So at last night, Yes, I'm
here asthmen. Brand is here, Danielle is downstairs. It's so disrespectful.
(11:05):
Well he was out alive and then he made me
join his live and it's like, come on, Danielle. Danielle
is all over the place. But that's your boy. Yes
it is, and he's done his way up here. I
cannot wait for him to come in because I know
what's going to be a whole moment. Yes, but last night,
this is the segment where we talk about what we
did last night, okay, and we want to bring this
to y'all exclusively because we had a time last night.
We did you want to tell them what we did.
(11:27):
We went to go preview Janelle Monee's new album. Okay, Okay,
I love some Janelle Monee. She looked amazing, by the way,
and it was a vibe I'd like to see all
of us. Yeah, like in settings like that where we
go out and we're just having a good time and
nobody had like their phones out filming everything because it
is new music that people haven't heard yet. But when
I tell you this new Genelle Monee album is a vibe,
(11:48):
somebody said to me, it's the type of thing where
you're just at home smoking it's it's it's I really
like it. I love how it starts. And the other
great thing that I loved about her was that she
was doing something that I know we all do. So
I was dancing in front of the window looking at
her own reflections like she was by herself. I was like,
I know we all do that at home. She was
(12:09):
dancing like nobody was watching. But that shows that she
loves her own music herself. So just shout out to
Janelle Munette. I know y'all gonna be really excited for
this new album. Danelle rawlings just Danielle Danielle Rawlings just
walked in the building the act doors straight from the airport,
the act women in the act door to see can
(12:31):
you you gotta talk on the mic, Donelle. You can't
just stand there and yell from a distance. There you go,
You know, to pause everything first, you're on brand. If
your micros on, it would be is it like is
it like like live people in their cars right now?
Live lives people are watching right now right. I'm not
(12:53):
gonna say, all right, so I gotta talk to La.
It's time to work, all right, peace, all right? Yeah,
get off your live when we come back. We have
a new segment that I'm really excited about. Yes, I
am too. Now, y'all know how you guys be on
Instagram and everybody's like an expert on relationships and love. Yes,
And sometimes you're like I agree with that, and sometimes
you're like, okay, this is just ridiculous. Right, So we
have a new segment that we're going to be doing.
(13:15):
It's called Gurus of the Graham. Gurus of the Gram. Yes,
geo TG Chris Witherspoon. When he was here, he was
guest hosting, and you know him from the Grio, you
know him from NBC and MSNBC as an entertainment contributor.
But I was trying to come up with a name
for the segment, and then he was like Graham Gurus,
and I was like, Gurus of the Graham. Gurus that.
(13:36):
So we want to see if you guys agree, And
when we come back, we have one of the Gurus
of the Cram, and y'all are gonna call him way
in and let us know. Okay, I don't know what's happening,
but eight fifty one fifty is a number. It's way
up with Angela. Yee, I ask it this way up
(14:00):
at the Angela. Yeah, I'm here, Jasmine brand is here
and Jane Rawley's and I'm way up. Not only way up,
I'm way up on the East coast. I'm way up
on it on the West coast. Fresh off, you owe
me an apology to Oisterize, you owe me an apology,
Jane said, you owe me an apology? All right, sorry,
So here's what we're doing right now. It's called Gurus
of the Graham. You know, everybody on on social media
(14:22):
likes to weigh in on things. A lot of people
are quote experts. Some of the car show a lot
of car shows what a lot of people take their
expertise from social media. And here is when Steve Harvey
he was talking to hold of Kopee about knowing a
woman is the one. Me and No, y'all need really
understand it's me and No. Really, we know if you
want or you're not. Now we can string you along
(14:42):
if you're not, but we know we know it ain't no,
ain't no. We've been dating for eight years and we're
not sure. Me and y'all need to stop this. Me
and No. You can ask him point blank. The problem
is women have a fear of asking because they don't
want to know the true Me and No. It don't
take us a year, all right, he said, it's and
under a year. Men know if a woman is the one.
(15:04):
You don't know the reason why. You don't know if
they won, because everybody lies and everybody sends their representative.
You know what we're gonna talk about that account. It's
gurus of the Graham. Danielle doesn't agree with Steve Harvey,
but we want to hear what you guys have to think,
and we're gonna hear more of what you have to
say when we come back eight hundred and two nine
two fifty one fifty call us and weigh in. It
(15:27):
is way up at Angela. Yee, I'm here, Jasmine brand
is here, Daniel Rawlings is in the building. I really
appreciate excitement reintroduced me. That's very Yeah, I'm excited. Daniel
came in like a tornado. I know he did the
only work. And we're doing Gurus of the Graham right
now and this is all based off of the expertise
that's available for us for free on social media with
(15:47):
all of the gurus. And here is Steve Harvey. He's
talking about knowing if a woman is the one right
away and no, y'all need really understand it's me and No.
Really we know if you want and you're not. Now
we can string you along you're not, but we know
we know it ain't No, ain't no. We've been dating
for eight years and we not Me and y'all need
to stop this. Me and No. You can ask him
(16:09):
point blank. The problem is women have a fear of
asking because they don't want to know the true me
and No. It don't take us a year, all right,
So we want to see what you guys think Dannelle,
what are your thoughts? Do you know? I think you know,
but you don't know. You kind of know, but I
think that you hope that you know. I don't know
if it's that. What does that Danielle? What does that mean?
What you say? What does that mean? I think that
(16:30):
over period of time you can get to know, but
it's just hard just say, like knows when it's not
the one Joe you see me crying on motorcycle, small
type of stuff over But even before, like a lot,
I was like, Danae is just doing this for the summer.
He was. But sometimes you might not know and they
you might know, sometimes you're in denial. Sometimes you might know,
(16:51):
but they're not knowing the same thing you know, And
that's when they I don't know what Danielle was saying.
Real men understand See he stated season before he knew
the season was over. Wow, And I'm like done, now
that's not And then he was mad that one girl
you day was catering to me. Oh remember that when
we had the um we had a fashion show. Oh yeah,
(17:13):
oh yeah, yeah. He was dating this woman and she
was like do you need anything to you? When he
was like, why are you catering to her and you
get it that. Yeah, do you know if a guy
is the one for you? No? I think that's hard
to tell because, like Danielle said, people do change. Yeah,
but I want to see what you guys think. Eight
hundred ninety one fifty Hello, who's this? Ye yo? Yo?
Just just Nick valduva. What are your thoughts on what
(17:36):
Steve Harvey had to say? Oh? I trying to feel
low key, but at the same time, yall know, like
likes said, you ya'll know exactly what somebody gonna because
because folks life, That's what I said. Can I be
an expert? Now? Yes? Have you ever been in a
situation what you thought you knew? Didn't you realize you
(17:56):
didn't know? You wanted to know, but what you know
you didn't really know. Yeah, that's a good way to
put it though, because you think like you you really
think you'd be doing something beforelks be playing different roles
and different like there's some actors out here, don't all
the lord don't that's a real man talking about some
(18:18):
thank you all right, thank you, don't thank you? Why
y'all getting rid of here? Oh y'all? No, no, no, Hello,
who's this? This is Cliff from Atlanta? How are you?
Cliff from Atlanta? I'm here, Danielle Rawlings is here, and
Jasmine Brandon's head. What do you think about knowing someone's
the one and under a year? Darnell? Need to stop playing, man,
of course we know. Oh well, you know the game.
(18:42):
That's game recognizing game. That's all that is. You're just
being strung along. Gods. No, I met my wife and
I knew within probably the first three months that I
never wanted to not spend another minute with her. Okay,
all right, I give you congratulations you married? So what
don nobody want to hear that? But I need just
playing these games. Man, we gotta get off this. Just
(19:05):
can I talk as a real man? No, no, no, no, no, no.
What they're saying, we reverse it. We don't get with
we whipped that. Okay, I understand you got stop talking
about yo. Don't just expect me like that. It's not trash.
My question how many of those you said you knew
when you met your wife, But how many women before
that you thought you knew before you found out that
(19:27):
was the one, Because all of them could be known.
Absolutely none. Every man else was games, everything else was
playing around, everything else was played playing But doesn't agree
with you? Man, you're sucking. Man. Yeah, somebody's not a
sucker because they don't agree with Who's this with? What?
(19:50):
What do you think you think you knowing? Under a year?
Who do you agree with? Steve Harvey or Donelle Rolling?
Keep trying to stop playing games with you? They explained, Yeah,
tell us, why why are you does? Marriage doesn't determine
and love and you? I mean, how much you love
a person. Marriage is a contract deal. Look how much
you love a person. That's nothing to do with that
marriage part. Look at God. But we're not talking about marriage.
(20:12):
You're talking about do you know what we talk about?
First off, don't try to switch that first year you're
saying within that first year you know who the person
is or know you don't? Okay, thank you. You don't
really know who the person is until you actually live
with them. Have you ever been married? Yeah? I am
married right now. I've been married twenty four years. Until
(20:33):
you knew. I didn't marry my wife until ten years
after we were together. You knew. It's a different I knew,
I knew, I knew my wife was who she was
when I fell and I had a hard time, and
she did everything to make sure I was good. I
(20:54):
know this is gonna be This is not gonna be
a popular thing. I'm about to say now, and this
is a lot of people upset. Don't say that, but
I'm gonna say it because you don't know. But when
you don't know, you think you'll know, because you say
to yourself, if I could just train HERD, we could
train I feel like you need to be trained. Well
I didn't. I didn't train my wife. I didn't need
(21:16):
to train my wife like you know. We we it's
your personality that I looked her. All right, we agree
with you one. I appreciate you. Okay, oh did you know?
I did you? Did your wife know? You up at
her DM? Can't somebody train down? Now? Put a muzzle
(21:38):
on him? Thank you? All right? Well that was Gurus
of the Grandma brand New segment that we've introduced. But
we'll be talking about things that are happening on Instagram
with these social media experts, and when we come back,
we have yet we'll be talking about Michael Jordan's and
the movie Air that everybody's discussing. And uh, we got
some exclusives for you on Way Up with Anti La Yee.
(21:59):
She's like to out like a Angela like Angela ye. Man,
she's spilling it all. This is yet the Way Up
with Angela Yee. I'm here with Jasmine Brand and don
Now Rowling. That's right, gangster Donna rownds all day every day.
Y'all know that this book the Nord date when you
was on BMF. I don't nobody want to talk about that.
(22:21):
That's what they wrote. Anyway, Moving along, he was getting pushed.
I was down pumped. I wasn't hurt my heart. I'm
not gone. Yeah, all right, we're gonna do yet. But
we're gonna get to BMF in a minute in your
role im okay, punching bag okay, Michael Jordans. We're getting
ready for the movie Air. Are you guys excited to
(22:42):
see this? I am. I'm waiting to see Larsa Jordan's documentary.
Stop it. She would change her name, she said. She
did say that. Yes, The Air arrives in theaters next month,
by the way, and there's gonna be some serious star
power and that Ben Affleck takes on the role of
Nike founder Phil Knight. Matt Damon is the marketing guru
Sonny Vacaro, and Viola Davis and her real life husband
(23:04):
Julius Tennant are going to be Michael Jordan's parents, Dolores
and James, but Jordan is not in it himself though.
All right, So this all chronicles Vaccaro's attempts to sign
Michael Jordan, who was in a rookie to the Nike label,
which was not working out at the time, and so
it barely includes um Damian Young who appears as Jordan.
He's only ever shown from behind, and so you know
(23:27):
it was not Michael's decision. They said, I did not
ever plan on it because I never thought for a second. Hey,
Michael is so magnificent, so famous. The whole reason why
he represents and means what he does in terms of
greatness and excellence is because he's so enigmatic and majestic
and identifiable immediately by his carriage and demeanor and what
we've seen him do physically. That's what Ben affleckat to say.
So he doesn't want people to be like, hey, that's
(23:49):
Michael Jordan, and Angela Donielle has his hand off for
five minutes. Why are you yelling? Donelle. Did Michael Jordan's
sign off on that project? Yes, he did it. And
you know what Michael Jordan's demand was, what was it?
He wanted Viola Davis to play the person who intervened
to make his Nike deal happen. Perfect. I love it
only the reason I said, question because you got two
(24:11):
different projects, one that guy signs on and one that
signs off. The one that signed off the ones that
go go hard. The other one is like, it's always
panders to what their beliefs are and what they saw.
I think you're accurate in done. Yeah. Ben Affleck said
he sat down with Michael Jordan's and he said he
wasn't going to make this movie without asking him what
matters to you? And Michael Jordan did officially give his blessing,
(24:32):
and he did said he wanted Viola Davis to play
his mom. He said it has to be Viola Davis,
and Ben Affleck said, Viola Davis is the best actor
I've ever seen. Wow. By the way, this is a
hard business, he said, But I also heard of Ben
Affleck told Michael Jordan's shut up and drivel. That's what
I heard. You did not hear. I heard it one
is lying I heard it on the internet. Stop it done,
(24:52):
because people are going to think you're being for real,
is reporting what I heard on the internet, and internet
is always right? All right? Well, Viola, And by the way,
Air is going to be in theaters on Wednesday, April fifth.
I can't wait for Just the FII. And here's Biola
Davis talking about being picked, handpicked by Michael Jordan herself.
You know, you're flattered at first, and then the next
(25:12):
second is pressure to play the woman who basically is
the orchestrator of this great athlete's life. You know, she's
one of those people where you're like, where did this
talent come from? Where did this vision come from? Because
she's from a generation of people that in my family,
(25:33):
they didn't really have dreams, and if they did, they
die then the sharecrop was field. She also was on
the Red Carver talking about herself and her husband's with
her because you know they're playing Michael Jordan's parents. That's
her husband in real life, Julius Tennant. Who's going to
play Michael Jordan's side chicks? Come on, who would it
be if you had to pick somebody? Let me hear
(25:53):
this audio all let me joy and walking together. It
was a pleasure to be able to play there through
one another in the same way we are. So it
was it was things you don't have to work at
because we already haven't understanding that we're together. Like right now,
we wouldn't even have to touch me, but we are together.
(26:15):
Oh I love it. Okay, Now we're not trying to
ignore my concerns. Danielle is worse than Raj on this, mic,
I do you know what this movie is about. It's
about him signing this deal with Nike? Okay, because can
you can you imagine the time when Nike wasn't popping.
Can you imagine time what he was hitting when he
was popping and signing that deal. You don't you know
what Mike was smashing before they said we're gonna give
(26:35):
you all these money. But people want to do a
movie about Danielle. Can I would only want to play myself, Okay,
all right, but I want to know I would love
to know who Mike casting to be his side checks. Okay,
well that is your yet and when we come back
normally we do under the radar. These are headline stories
that are going under the radar. But why not focus
(26:56):
on Doanelle Rowlings And I just want to say this.
I want to tell you, imagine this um text to
my mental health. I have a therapist now right. I'm
not gonna let you gas like me. I won't be triggered.
And I want you too to respect my boundaries. If
we can't do that, I'm leaving. Okay, all right, like
we said, we'll be right back with done Rosa up.
Want to be more way up with Angela on now
(27:18):
you know is yes, it's way up with Angela. I'm here,
Jasmine Brand is here, Yes, and it's under the radar
with Donnell Rawlings aka Alvin aka Astular aka day da
A ka Umiana aka all I got mad akk whom
first need some music or something? Man, I gonna be
(27:39):
to something. Man can just do me with that. I
don't want to hear that. Yeah, we need his music now?
All right now, I'll start over. How can you stop it?
Can you stop it? Sir? All right now? Can I
get the introduction again, a real introduction? And I want
the music? All right? We got Donelle Rawlings aka Alvin
aka the Shady Mortician from BMF in the building with us.
(28:02):
Hey Donna the shade. I'm not the shade. More atticitions.
Some people have their fantasies fulfilled different from what normal
people do, and that's what this character did. He like
a cold. Some people like like a cold. Let's talk
about your role. First of all, BMF is an amazing shows.
I watch it on demand every single Friday, um. And
(28:23):
so your role of Alvin, you're kind of like the
punching bag for what's the other character's name again, Lamar
Lamar yea na, I'm his closest ally. He's a person
that doesn't have a lot of friends. He destroys everything
in this path. And I've done interviews to promote the
show and it was like, why is it that Lamar
could body everybody else and he won't come at you?
(28:46):
And to my the way I answer that is because
I'm blood and people or everybody knows somebody in the
in the hood or the streets that's a straight shooter,
killer or whatever, and they have issues with certain people,
but they won't cross their family. I think that's the
only that's the saving grace with my character in the
relationship with Lamar. Yeah, and he like he will do
things like he broke it television while you were watching?
(29:08):
Why why? Why are you focusing on the distance? And
then he did push you to the ground. Push to
the ground. I slipped to the ground. You see my team,
He did not watch your back. I want to ask that. Okay,
I'm gonna is your character would you say scared of Lamar?
Is Alvin scared of Lamar? All right? First off, let
me explain this. Eric Kofi is a method actor, right, Okay,
(29:29):
I'm not a trained actor or anything. And when I
say method actor, he's a type of dude. When he
comes up, he's Lamar all day. So you are scared?
Are you? Are you scared when he walks around as
that character on set? Danielle, Look he's getting scared now. No,
I'm not getting triggered. I've learned how to have therapy.
Danielle was holding himself. Cope was here right now a Lamar?
(29:50):
He would rip that chair from behind you, not on
the ground. Answering the question, he's a method actor. He
come to work want to kill people. I come to
work wanting to make people laugh. And even when we
were shooting at I wasn't the sucker that people are
calling me right now, First off, it's not real. It's
a character. How sick of people calling me telling about
your son? Why you let him snatch you up at
your call like that? How are you gonna let a
grown man take your hungry man meals and let the
(30:13):
dog eat it to that. I didn't let them do that.
The writers let them do that. Okay, I'm acting. Okay, Now,
let me ask you this in the season finale, right
the whole time, you've been so loyal. Yeah, no, let
me go back to what I do. Not to give
a spoiler, don't say I want to go. You're very
disloyal in that last episode, and that's ten episodes to
(30:34):
get there. I try to stick in here with him.
He disrespected me, fed, he fed his punk dog hungry
man meals. He threw my TV while I'm watching my
favorite show. He threw it over the balcony. And when
I'm trying to tell you is every time he disrespected me,
I would freestyle and I'd be like, man, f you
and that punk a dog blah blah blah blah, and
(30:55):
the director would be like, God, yeah, I had to
explained that to me. They had explained to me that
is it hard for you to play a role where
you're getting punked and you can't really do anything about
it but take it or did it hit close to home?
You know what? I really think I'm being punked right now.
All right, well, they're gonna come back with some more.
You know, we have the Way Up mix coming up
at the top of the hour, plus Davis is going
to be joining us. We have some more with Donnelle
(31:17):
Rowlings that when we come back, because we want to
make sure we get to the bottom of this. You
have the nerve to have on that sweater. I'm the greatest.
Here's a sweater with Muhammad Ali, the greatest. Way Up
with Angela yee ye, back at it, bring it, bringing
the yes, it is way up with Angela ye. First all,
I want to say Jason's mad at me because she
(31:38):
said I have as anybody ever made a tim I
can't train you before we get done. Can I open
the break? Okay, open the parts. My brand is here,
Donelle Rowlings is here, okay, thank you, and Danielle is
making it very intense behind this. First of all, I'm
not going to be triggered, and I'm just saying, you
guys put words in my mouth and y'all tricked me
and Angela, this is what I said. This would change
(32:01):
her posture. Has anybody made an attempt of training you?
You said that on the air. He said that women
need to be trained. I did not say women need
to be trained. I said some could be trained, okay,
And then he Angela Danielle asked me have I Have
I ever been trained? And there's a type of wild
animals and then then I said hold on, I said no,
(32:24):
and then Dona Angela Danielle said he would he could
help me learn how to be trained. No, that's not
what I said. I'd like to use the toilet or
potty training, Manille, because I'm not training. I could talk
about it if you want to have a conversation about it.
Let's table this all right, let's talk about this in
a minute. It is a Way Up with Angela. Ye,
the Way Up mix is coming up at the top
(32:45):
of the hour. Plus Vernon Davis will be joining us
former NFL player, but he's an actor or slash producer now,
and I guess Danielle will still be here if he's
a trained actor. Is he a trained actor? Can you
just stay in your see and can we train you
to be quiet. It's way up with Angela yee. Oh,
she about to blow the lid abof this part. Let's
get it. Come and get the tea. Oh hey, it's
(33:11):
way up with the July yee. Sorry, that's my fault.
I was looking at Danelle Done. That's doing the most.
You're very distracting a problem. Everybody in this room got
a problemate. I've told you when I first came in distracting,
I said, I won't be triggered. I said, I'm a
provocatur right, and certain people in this room I would
not say names are putting as they saying this old
school words in my mouth and it's not fair. Okay, okay,
(33:34):
but we love ag provocatur we do. I do. I'm
a provocator, all right. Now let's talk about yet staff
Ruby Rose. She was on social media and she posted
ready for Ramadan, and then people were going in on
her for her abbey and she took she actually changed
her abbey after that. It's abbey is a little provocative.
She's PROVOCATORI we know. I look at this. I say
(33:56):
this is someone looks that that's well trained. But she's
about to do Danelle, what Ruby Rose is about to do.
I don't look like somebody that listens. No, it does not, okay, Danelle,
Oh my god, and you listening. I've never seen your
posts like that. Um So there you have it. Boosey,
he did an interview with Black You know, he does
(34:17):
these interviews with Blad all the time. Apparently he gets
paid a lot for them, and he was upset about
his cousin. He said his cousin allegedly stole seven thousand
dollars from him. Listen to this. He went in my
room and stole He's took like seven bands. Did you
try to call him or confront him with it or
ask for the money back? Oh? No, I ain't asked
for no money. But why not? I don't want no
(34:38):
money back, bro, you know, like this is my blood.
He's not gonna like when I see him break his jaws.
I'm waiting on him, you know. Okay, what if he
turns around? Okay, so what if he churns around? Suits
you over there? I don't know you ever worked that
out yet. I ain't thinking about Judge here. I was
looking for him now. I was trying to kids you
another day. I was gonna cut his pink helt. Oh wow,
(34:59):
that's so. Maybe this cousin was trying to contribute to
the economy. Okay, okay, that's Diana. You can't come up
here alive anymore. It's over for you. We called it, right,
do we catch it? It won't happen again by Diana. No,
you can't just buy moving on all right now. Tyra
Banks has been replaced on Dancing with the Stars. She
(35:21):
actually left. You know, she has an ice cream brand
that she wants to really concentrate on, So she's leaving
Dancing with I mean America's Next Time Model after three
seasons so she can work on her flourishing ice cream business.
I didn't know she had this ice cream business. I did,
but I did smize and dream. Also, her rumors that
things weren't going well behind the scenes with her hosting
on Dancing with the Stars, I've seen that too. I
(35:43):
don't know if that's true or not, but Julianne Hoff
is going to be replacing her, and she said it's
such an honor to be rejoining Dancing with the Stars
as co hosts. The show holds a special place in
my heart from the many years and different roles I
have had the privilege of being a part of. She
first started on their back in two thousands Evan Okay,
and she was paired with a celebrity contestant as a
(36:04):
pro dancer. She later emerged as a winner of seasons
four and five, and then now she's back as a
co host. So I think that's really dope. It is.
I miss Tyrone to you. Y'all like seeing Tyrone Tyra
Banks on TV all right, and Thoja Cat has announced
that she is healing really fast. She had a breast
reduction in LiPo section done. Now wod Man's gonna cheer
(36:26):
for a breast reduction. It might still she still may
look voluptuous, but she it's a lot on I think
women's I don't know, but I feel like it's a
lot on women's. She got lipos and her thighs hurt
a lot if she moves too much, she said, but
I'm healing really fast. She started to look at that future.
When you first get it, it looks all fine, and Danny,
(36:46):
do you start saying, okay, especially these people to get
all this work done and don't exercise, they just like
just sagging bag, just looks. She's a pretty great shape.
She looked good. She looks good, but it doesn't matter
unless she feels like she looks Alright, A man can't
talk up here. I'll re see what's called. You've talked enough, Dianelle. Okay,
it's the way yup with Annielle Rowlings is here, Jasmine
(37:07):
Brand is here, and it is Women's History Month. I
respect that, I hope so with Anela Ye. Ladies, when
they ask what you bring to the table, tell them
you brought the table up with Angela Yee celebrating the
ladies doing Women's History Month. Yes, it is way up
with Angela Yee. I'm here, Jasmine Brand is here, Danielle
Rawlings is here. The tornado, the tornado, he definitely like
(37:30):
a tornado, but with all kinds of love. Yes, he's
a talented tornado. And I came. I was dealing with production.
I was trying to be a part of the show.
I was trying to be supportive. I was trying to
do all of these things. You're one of Angela's closest friends,
and she appreciates you. She appreciates you being here. So yeah,
I wish her friends would say the same. Thing. But
(37:51):
that doesn't matter. Wait what happened? I wish her friends
would feel the same way. You want them to like
you too. Well, he wants to train me so that
I can keep him man, and but let's let's move on. Yeah,
it is Women's History Month, yes, and so we want
these women or a history month? Got a man? Go ahead? Done?
Is that everything you think? That's what you think? That's
(38:13):
a different You gotta come into the mike. You gotta
stop yelling falls Okay, Well, anyway, today we want to
celebrate somebody who's been instrumental for you doanelle, and who
we absolutely adore and admire. And that person is Tasha Smith. Yes,
I love her for so many reasons. Okay, what are
your reasons? My reason because the first one of the
(38:35):
first major projects ever did was on HBO's The Corner
years ago. If you're familiar with The Corner, Yeah, it
was a good addict right. I played addict on that
if you remember The Corner. The wire was to spinoff
of the Corner. And when I didn't know, I was
a young actor, still don't know what I'm doing half
the time, she kind of took me under the wings.
She gave me um confidence. She would read lines women.
(38:56):
She really helped me get through that. And some years
later she as a director of fifty cent stars hit
show BMF. She was a director for that and last
season she called me for the specific road of me
playing Alvin. She said, this is right for you. I
talked to fifty Randy, We're gonna do this. She's the
one who got me in there got next season three episodes.
(39:18):
They kept writing and had me in nine episodes and
none of that would have been possible if it wasn't
for Tasha smil I love that story. It's a full
circle moment. I didn't know that the corners spent off
of the rye Yes. I remember the corner because Danielle
was in that. I knew you back then too, for
the back of the Day. I love it by bar
daniel I'm sorry I didn't touch a show like that.
Donell so funny that you forget. He's a good actor too. Yeah,
(39:38):
he's acting, yes all the time. And here actually is
Tasha Smith and she's talking about directing on BMF. I'm
Tasha Smith, the director of BMF. Coming into this industry
as a director, that was difficult. I used to feel
like I'm too loud, too black, and too much of
a woman all love it. I felt like it was
(40:00):
an obstacle. But I got to a point in my
life where I said, I'm gonna be me because I
am a woman, i am black, i am loud, It's
who I am, and I'm gonna let it all work
for me as a storyteller. All right. So that was
Tesha A lot of another fun factor, Tasha Smith started
doing a deaf jam era. Yeah you know, and whatever
(40:22):
I see her, she's like a comedian, correct a writer.
She was a comedian, she was a stand up and
every time that girl's not she'll do anything. And whenever
I say I was like, were're gonna go back and stay?
She said, I don't know if I could do it again, deed,
but I would love to see Tasha Smith. We turned
to the stage and blow up stages like she did
years ago. But that was a good choice for women
woman on a month or whatever, woman's history man, woman's
(40:42):
history man who were honoring today? And I love her
Sid by the way, I have to say, Sida Smith.
People always get them confused to because they look so
much alike. They do, but She's super talented too as
far as producing and being a creative and cooking by
the way, but I will say, but there are dentical twins,
but I think Tasha he is a little biggert. What
is your now? What is your favorite? Yo's History month? Listen?
(41:08):
And also what I love about Tasha Smith though, is
not just the fact that she is an amazing actor, producer, director,
but also she's a teacher. You know, she has an
acting school in Lay and so she actually helps a
lot of young actors out work work. Okay, yeah, I
don't know that. I know if you see all right
(41:28):
dinew And one of my favorite roles that she had
was in as Angela and why did I? Was it?
Why did I get married? And she's also going to
ask you what was your favorite role that she's played in?
What movie? There's so many that's your favorite? What's your favorite?
That's my favorite? And she was directed on Pee Valley, right, yep.
I just loved her on the Corner because you know,
(41:48):
somebody to play that stretch looking totally different playing crackhead.
She killed that role on that. But I just want
to say, uh, Happy Woman's Month, Tasha Smith, and thank
you for the opportunities you've given me and a lot
of other people in the field of entertainment. Yeah, and
that's what it's all about. We love women who are
hard working, talented, but also pay it forward. And I'm
pretty sure I'm really closer. I don't think that you
(42:10):
would mind saying telling people, Okay, thank you so much
for that for Women's History Month. We appreciate it, and
said just Smith, shout out to you as well. Amazing women.
And when we come back, Vernon Davis is going to
be joining as former NFL player, but he is also
an actor and he's starring alongside Morgan Freeman. He's actually
(42:32):
also going to be in another movie with Morgan Freeman.
So apparently Morgan Freeman really liked him a lot. But
he's going to talk about his journey because it's not
so easy to make that transition from a professional athlete
into the field of being a successful actor. It's way
up with Angela Ye. Vernon Davis is next, Yeah, back
at it up with angela Ye is on? Yes, it
(42:57):
is way up with Angela Ye. I'm here, Jasmine Baron
is here. Done, Yeah, Rawlings is here. What's up? Hey? Dan?
Now we were talking about you on BMF. I want
to know, just from watching the season finale, are you
going to be back for season three? It's already confirmed,
I mean they confirmed the season three, but I haven't
heard anything about me coming back or being part of
(43:18):
the third season. But it's still early, you know. Yeah,
you never know. I may know one I may not know.
But for me, like I don't get caught up on that,
I look at like any and every opportunity. It was
the opportunity in that moment. Okay, you know, and that's it.
That's it, you know. Yeah, enjoyed watching you on the show.
I always get excited every time I've seen Danielle on
(43:38):
the screen. So you got excited when um, you're getting
beat up and punished. Yeah, getting beat up and thrown
around there somebody. You've been doing some great roles. Yeah,
I'm lucky enough obviously every three or four years, UM
show what Happened? Where it's part of pop culture. People
like it. Like I'm not a regular actor. I'm not
on any like a serious regular anything, but every so
(44:00):
often I get a gig and it's like it's something
that the streets like or people like, and it just
gives things pop. Have you ever done a sex scene?
I saw and I've been watching Swarm and I'm trying
to finish it. I love it. But people were upset
about Chloe Bailey doing a sex scene, which I didn't understand.
What are you mad about? It's acting. But then it
turned into a whole conversation about Halle Berry and she
hit da da Da da da, And so I want
(44:22):
to ask you that now, have you ever done a
sex scene or would you It's years ago. I would
consider it. It was a show. It was a movie
called bum Night to the Heights. It was like a
low budget I want no disrespect. Is available anywhere for
us to see, probably a blockbuster scene we can find.
Go ahead, Yeah, that maybe somewhere. But when I thought
(44:44):
about it, you know, I guess when you when when
you getting prepared to do a sex scene or anything
like this, I'll check you out of what your normal
situation would be on set. You know, it's a little
part of you, as nervous part of you. You want
to be a professional. Right in the beginning of I
was like, yeah, man, this is gonna be fun, And
all I ken about saying I was like, I really
want to get excited. I'd be as real as possible.
Right then, as we got closer to actually shooting it,
(45:06):
a professional side of me took over and I was like,
I don't want to do anything to make this woman
feel uncomfortable. A tough situation like this was about Corney Allen.
We were in the back of a pickup truck. It
was hot outside, and then like people, when you watch
a movie or TV, you only it looks like one
person has something to do with that, but you're talking
about fifty people on the crew. But I did perform
(45:31):
well enough to make it very realistic that I had
got to the height over did you look like I mean,
did they show your butt? Yeah, not the whole, but
just the tip heard at the top right before the
crack hit that part right there. Another thing is like
(45:52):
and I was trying to figure out ways to make
it look like all out sex sing without having to
have too much exposure to her. And I was like
something similars putting my pants on the butt and putting
my shirt up and it looked like and I was
the same right now, how disappointed? No, this is a movie.
That's that's acting. I did a good job and I
thought it was good. All right. Well, speaking of acting,
(46:14):
we have an actor about to join us. He formerly
played in the NFL for like fifteen seasons. Vernon Davis
is joining us, and he's going to be talking about
all of his roles that he's having. He's in a
movie right now. It's way up with Angela Yee, with
Angela ye more. Now, what's up? It's way up with
Angela Yee. I'm here and Jasmine Brand is here. I'll
(46:36):
call you. Your name is not really Jasmine Baron, that's
your website, but Jasmine from the Jasmine Brand is here,
and Vernon Davis is here. Actor extraordinaire Vernon Davis. But um,
you know we're here to talk about you're in a
movie that you're in, which is exciting. The ritual killer.
I'm a little nervous sitting next to you. Should be
(46:57):
very He got into character right away. But so, how
did that feel for you to play a role like
that where you're actually a killer? It was dope, it
was It was interesting because I never imagined myself playing
a role like that. It took a lot to get
into get into it because I had to attach too
many things from my past life into this character, like
(47:20):
you have to go really deep and dark those moments
that you experienced when you were a kid. It can
be really harsh for some people to think in that way,
but when you're an actor, you have to be able
to live in those moments and live truthfully. And it's
not like you retired from football and just started acting.
You've been acting. So this is something that I mean,
(47:40):
you've been working on it, like you've known this is
what you want to do. Yeah, I was. I thought
I knew. I thought I knew what I was doing
when I was playing ball, but I did it. There
was there was a moment when I was on I
think it was ESPN. He said Vernon, let me see it,
let me see you act o man, And I started
like crying, crying on it looked it looked it was
(48:01):
cool to some people, but it's not. That's not the crap.
You don't because because when you cry, and you don't
really you fight your tiers. You don't really cry. You
don't want people to see you cry in public or
in person. You just doing it on purpose. It's more
it's more internally right than externally. So you once you
learn that and you learn the craft. You're like, Okay,
I get the Hello silly so now you can cry. Yeah,
(48:24):
I get it. I get really emotional. I mean I
I do it weekly. I practice even if I'm not
getting a job every week and crying, well, not not
crying necessarily. I practice like the emotion of it all.
When did you know you wanted to ask? You wanted
to take it seriously? I know I wanted to take
it seriously. When probably my last year playing Peopall, I
(48:47):
did this movie called Hell in the Border and it
was probably like the biggest role I had I've ever
had in my attack career playing football. So when I
when that happened, I was like, well, I want to
continue to do this. And you knew that was going
to be your last year playing football? No, I didn't know.
I didn't know at all. I had a had an
concussion and my granddad died and I wanted I was
ready to move on. I couldn't go on, I couldn't
(49:08):
play play anymore. I wanted to step away and do
something different and that stuff. So this is it, this
is your You definitely want to act forever. I feel
like I do because you can. I look up to
guys like Morgan Freeman. He said five, and he's still
doing it and I wasn't being in a movie. But
Morgan Freeman, though, let's take a moment to even think
about that. That's major. Yeah, we actually getting ready to
do another one. What one called Gunner. I played that
(49:29):
I played, I played his son, all ridiculous, kicked out
with makeup, right makeup and no. But I yeah, I'm
playing the son and this one we uh, yes, it's
gonna be pretty cool. But the one I just had
called the Ritual Killer, that was that was cool. So
that's a true story. It's based on the true story,
(49:50):
all right, So tell us the true story for people
who haven't seen the movie and don't know it. So
harvesting body parts and Africa, it's it's a ritual where
you you're you're selling to people who want to feel
more powerful, and people with money come to this tribe
called the Syndroma tribe and they buy this concoction that's
made of body parts, golden nerves, and now they're more powerful.
(50:13):
They can see better, they can think better, they're stronger.
So that's what you're It is very disturbing, and that's
why I say when you know, attaching someone the moments
for my life to this character. I had anxiety after
the film was over because every day I'm fine, when
I'm in my hotel and I'm coming out, I was fine.
But when I put on these garments of this character,
I started by my mannerism, my face change. I can
(50:34):
just feel it in my whole body, just like everybody. Yeah,
that's wild. How did you be compressed after the project
was over? I had a therapist, okay, that had a therapist.
I did some yoga, started meditating more, and just getting
myself back because people don't understand, like I spent like
a month and a half two months with this this
guy that I created. I spent a month two months
(50:55):
with him, and I became him. It was crazy. It
felt so good killing all these people. Oh man, I'm saying,
and yeah, that sounds would right now. I'm just saying. Yeah.
As an act, it felt it was fulfilling. It was
like it was The trailer was very it was like
I was releasing something. It was like I was releasing
some demons from the past. That that's what felt good.
So I didn't want to stop. So when you when
(51:16):
you get done with that you have to really make
sure get it all out. Yeah, decompressed and just you know,
just fine. Two things. What type of advice and Morgan
Freeman give you? Because I can see you guys have
a good relationship. Y'all just did the Ritual Killer together.
You said you're going to be in another movie. So
what I mean being that he took a liking to you?
Did he also say all right, son, here's you know
(51:36):
some things you need to do. You gotta you're not
sounding like him right now? You have to do the voice. No,
I don't know if I can sound like Morgan. Can
you sound like him? I don't know. Let's try it.
Let's try. It's like if I hear him, if I
hear him again, I can probably do it. But I can't.
I can't do I got I don't got him down yet. Um.
(51:58):
He just talked. He's like a hold you on set.
It's interesting because we haven't seen and he just talked
to me like try this, try this, try like this.
It's like, okay, you get it, you get it. He's
in this quiet voice. He's just an interest in person.
It's like a coach and in an actor. I really
appreciate that, and I respect it because for him to
be eighty five years old, you know, you don't have
(52:20):
to help out them. You don't have to do anything.
You just come to work and go back to its trailer. Yeah,
she's amazing. And if you think about it like a director,
it's kind of like a coach too, you know, being
a you know, being able to follow what someone's telling
you to do and run those plays. Yes, do you
find it easy to remember scripts because you always had
to remember plays? Or No, it's a different process I
(52:40):
have to come up with. So what I do is
if I have a if I have a script in
front of me, when I do, I take it page
by page and I'll I'll be breakfast, breakfast, lunch, and dinner,
and I'll just get the words and then I'll recorded
on my voice memo. Okay, instead of listening to music,
I listened to my voice to the lines. So every
day or every two days, like I have like one
or two pages memorized, and then I go to the
next And that's saying, you know, I got the whole script.
(53:02):
That's so hard to do. Because I've done like some
quick guest appearances, I might have like four lines and
I think I have a down pat and then you
can get there and you're like line words. I see
you rememberize the words, but the words don't. The words
don't even really mean anything because you your emotions change
the words. Right, So how you feeling emotionally, it will
(53:22):
change the words. It'll make you go slow and make
you go fast. It all comes from like inside. All right.
That was Burning Davis. He's talking about his new movie,
The Ritual Killer. We had some more with him and
we come back. You up with Angela Yee. It's way
up with Angela Yee and Burning Davis is here with
me and Jasmine Brand. Now. Burning you also invested in
(53:44):
a basketball team. Yeah, here's your research. Capital Classic and
I own the Brisbane Bullets, which is an Australian team. Yeah.
Look at how these a lot going on, a lot
going on to invest in. Wow, well it just crossed
the table. And if it makes sense, then it makes sense.
It's like law of attraction. Like the things that you're
that you seek on, the things that you desire to
just come your way. That's how my whole life been,
(54:06):
just like even with the movies. With the Morgan Freeman
movie is something that just happened. Just make sense. Yeah,
In terms of investments, is there anything that you passed
on that you wish that you didn't? Yes? What ring?
Oh yeah, yeah that was a good one. I had
that right in mind. Oh that was right there. Yeah. Okay,
like I don't know what you're doing. Okay, but yeah,
(54:27):
that's but sometimes investing is hard because we also hear
a lot of stories about people investing in things and
then athletes in particular, like going broke because of bad investments.
That's just because they don't know what they're doing or
what they look for. You just have to know what
to look for and and what questions to ask and
what's what's available to you, Like twenty sent discount. I
tend to go with companies that already have the momentum,
(54:48):
companies that have maybe have fifteen twenty million dollar evaluation,
because if you invest in a startup, you can't really
tell what's going on. You don't know what they expect.
They're starting from the ground up. Why do that when
you can get in on the on something that has momentum,
And that's what I do. I try to look at
that and then you know, I asked, what the what
the exit strategy is. And I also want to know
how many employees they have just all the right questions
(55:10):
that you need to ask. And once you understand how
that works, and once you know who's on the board
of advisory who invested, then that tells you a lot.
If if I wh why invest in the company if
there's nobody it's like minded, or if there's an accredited
investor that I know of, I wouldn't want to If
that's not happening, I don't want to invest in this company.
It's all who Who's Who's who's bringing it to you? Right? Right? Who?
(55:34):
Because you know how many people probably be like, Yo,
I got an idea, man, an idea? Can you give
me some money for this? All I need is if
it's an idea, I'm not investing that, I'm not investing. Yeah,
I'm not going to invest in an idea unless it
has a twenty MILLIONAR evaluation. What's the biggest mistake you've
made business ever? I mean I learned from it. I
learned through experience. I just learned just learning. You've never
(55:56):
made any really big, big business mistakes? Oh yeah, I have.
I invested in this Ponzi scheme and I was just
showing them. It was a bunch of athletes in it. Oh,
be careful and there's a bunch of athletes. You know,
you lost a lot of money. I lost a lot
of money, lost about five hundred thousand. Yeah. Who there's
guys that lost millions. Yeah, but I wasn't. I wasn't.
(56:17):
I've always been conservative, so I didn't put that much
of money in. Okay, but thank you so much for
coming through. We really do appreciate it, and we want
to make sure everybody goes and watches the movie. We're
actually gonna I'm gonna make Jazmine watch it, even though
she don't like a scary movie. I love it The
Ritual Killer and stream that movie on BT plus two
because that looks good. Yes, um, Brianna a message from Brianna. Yeah,
(56:37):
y'all gotta check out this new song coming out called Phone.
You're gonna appreciate it. Oh yeah, this girl I had,
this girl, had this girl that I was dating. She's
go through my phone all the time while I was sleeping.
Beat tone, pe set me this beat phone. I ain't
gonna through my phone. Yeah yeah, dope. Me and three
old black girl Black on the come up. He's amazing.
(56:58):
You gotta hear you, gotta hear him on this track.
I thought I didn't do it. Yeah, go back to
the phone, don't very relief. Why is she How does
she get in your phone? Well, she would just go
through my phone and now when I was didn't have
a password or anything on it. No, we trusted each other.
Oh no, And what was she seeing when she went
through your friend? Nothing? She couldn't find anything because I
wasn't just doing any wasn't doing anything. I guess that's why.
(57:19):
I guess that's why she thought she could go through
my phone, because I was giving her the password to
my phone. Gave her but she'd be up at night
like this, and you caught her. I'm like, yeah, I'm
just like, what's going on? So that I was like,
I need to get in line two. Line two is
a different line on my phone. So I'm talking to
my grandmother and my mother say we have I'm having
a conversation about her. Yeah, she don't need to see
(57:41):
that because she can take it another way. So I
just bought line two. So on the music, you hear
me talking about line two, is that we did you'll
break up? Over that or you're still together. Unfortunately we
broke up over so you're gonna put together a whole project.
You think we got an album called Showtime. Okay, you
gotta hit the music man. Music is awesome. A lot
of people, a lot of people. Yeah, but that was
my first That was my first song. It kind of
(58:03):
gave me wallet vibes. I'm not gonna lie. Yeah yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah, pretty girl girl. She's so excited. You're like, Okay,
we like that. Jay told me I did a song
I get Jay told him produced something for me too,
Young Joe Okay, that's my guy. Young Joey is like us, Yeah,
(58:25):
where happen? You're doing what you love now. We see
all the passion when you talk about the music, when
you talk about the Yeah, no, it's very important because
you know somebody's favorite phony. I guess it's important. And
in time to tell you see over time, like you
tell you know someone serious about something, They're gonna keep
on going, They're not gonna give up. I feel like
he could turn us to a killer at any second
(58:47):
right now. On that. Thank you so much though, honestly,
and congratulations, yeah, thank you. I appreciate it all right. Well,
that was Vernon Davis. Thank you so much for joining us.
And when we come back, we have asked ye. Eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty is a number.
I'm here, Donnel, Rawlings is here, and Jasmine Brand is
(59:08):
here to help you on way up with Angela Yee
with its relationship or career advice, Angela's dropping facts. This
is yes, it is way up with Angela Yee. I'm here,
Jasmine Brand is here, done, Rawlins is here, done done now,
and it's time first all over here. I bet okay, anyway,
(59:28):
I see you what as he is when you guys
get to call in and ask for advice. Now, y'all
know we have the voicemail set up twenty four to
seven and sometimes you guys leave voice messages if you
can't get through asking for advice. Eight hundred two nine
two fifty one fifty is that number in case you
feel inclined to do that. And today we have a
voicemail and we're gonna need some help from me Donnel
(59:50):
and Jasmine. Okay, So anyway, I settled down about two
years ago. Long story short. I don't want to be
tied down on the more I just want to do
what I gotta say. I recently seeing another young lady
on the side. Neither of them know about each other.
But I feel guilty because I'm actually in a committed
relationship for a long time, but it still doesn't end there.
(01:00:11):
I got this job about a year and a half ago,
and now I'm kind of to my wife's boss too,
So I don't know. Maybe I'll keep it in my pants.
That's want the fis. For give me some advice, man,
I need to help. That's great advice. But so look,
this man is in a committed relationship, but really he's not,
and he's sleeping with different people. His wife's boss. Yeah,
(01:00:31):
by the way, he's married. Yeah, okay, and so there.
Yeah did he say his girl's boss. He said, my wife.
His wife's boss. And he's already looking for help. He's
trying to help himself, he said, I don't know. He
knows the answer. He said, maybe I should keep it
in my pants, which is the toughest thing to do,
and the most mature thing you can do is keep
your pants and give your wife a chance to be
the only person with But if you're talking about I
(01:00:54):
don't know if you are it's already the question you
built to keep smashing. It's never gonna stop. And that's
a high likelihood that his wife is gonna find out.
And sometimes people don't think about the content. People think
that they'll cheat and get away with it forever and
no one's gonna find out, and a little do you know,
what are those consequences going to be? When she does
(01:01:14):
find out? She's gonna want to leave you for sure?
Now you know you didn't necessarily try. I mean I
think initially it might not happen, But what will she
want to do? You're sleeping with my boss, I mean,
how and then if if they stay together, that's gonna
be a journey for her to ask. A lot of
people trust you again in relationships because of the security
(01:01:35):
and never wanting to be alone, and they tolerate certain
things and on the man's side. And I was guilty
of this and parts of my life where I thought
because I was a Bret winner and you've heard this
on other platforms. I thought, because I was doing a
certain thing and negated that person's feeling, and I thought
I had the right, not the right, but I was like, Okay,
you can do whatever you want. To do because you're
(01:01:56):
making money that you do that, and I'm learning that
that's not always what made you realize that that wasn't
gonna work? What just doing that? Yeah? Kind now, when
people didn't when they didn't care about it, When when
when it wasn't something of necessity with somebody, That's when
I felt like, all right, eventually you get eventually you
(01:02:17):
outgrow doing stupid stuff, right, But you know you also
don't want it to be too late by the time
you do that and you burnt down the whole. Maybe
he should just be single. Yeah, he's married though, And
that's the thing, right, It feels like, are you married
and don't want to be married? Are you married and
want to have your cake and eat it too? Probably?
Probably the latter, Probably Probably those are the things that
(01:02:38):
he needs to determine for himself. Am I in this
relationship that I don't want to be in? Do I
want to break up? Or do I want to save
my marriage and do the right thing? Because I don't
know if he wants to do the right thing. And
then sometimes it's it takes two people to fulfill you
on what you want to be satisfied in a situation. Now,
tell me the truth. It's hard to find every thing
(01:03:00):
you want. Watch your boss is so taboo, you know
how crazy that it is. Wild. So now not only
did I lose my man, but I'm gonna lose my
job too, because how am I sippus to work for
this woman who's sleeping with my husband. It's so disrespectful.
One was a job. She probably just find it out.
It depends on what us. Don't give us anything. Have
(01:03:20):
you ever been cheated on? You know every man wants
to say, yes, I know I've been cheated Okay, how
did that feel? Um, it didn't feel good. Okay, that's
my point. But I knew, but I knew what to
lever saying something that I knew it because this this
particular woman told me. She looked at my face, she said, donell,
I just want to let you know. This is how
I knew I was getting cheated on. She said, I
(01:03:41):
just want to let you know whatever you're doing, I'm
doing And I was like, I can't believe this trick
and there, yeah, that is your asking. Ye, when we
come back, we have the last word again. Eight hundred
two nine is the number that being to get your
voice heard. The word big gets the last word on
way up with it? Angela ye that oh it's way
(01:04:03):
up for the angela ye, I'm angela yee. Jasmine brand
is here with me. Yes, don Ron Langs is hell
and you know this is the part of the show
where you guys get to have the last word. But
we do want to thank Vernon Davis for joining us. Yes, yes,
the ritual killer. He looks scary in that. Yeah. And
then he turned into a killer right in for the ViRGE. Yes,
(01:04:24):
watch the rest Gans right. I did not even have
a name now the commander he had Resticans. I'm sorry
you had a commander of the commanders. I just shout
out to I wanted to really quick shoutlenge of time.
Uh Taylor, heine key, he's going to Atlanta. I d
him the other day just to thank him for how
he made the city excited. It was exciting to watch
(01:04:46):
football game again, yes, and everything. And he told me
he said I'm a fan, and I was like, thank you.
Then I said thank you for not calling me an
old head by saying I grew up watching you. Then
he said I mean and did this sign like oh yeah,
well you know, And speaking of DC, shout out to
Tony Lewis Senior. Just coming home. Yeah, just coming home.
(01:05:06):
And if you're talking BMF, it's hard to not talk.
If you talk to BMF. It's an era in Watchington,
DC where's big players in the game. Rightful ms being
won and Tony been another one And at thirty five
years he's just been released and his son has started UM.
What is a nonprofitable foundation, a foundation to educate people,
not educate people, but try to get some reform on
(01:05:28):
some of these non violent crimes. Kim Gardashian does the
same type of work. Yeah, but like these non valid crimes,
people give given up thirty five years in life for
stuff that had nothing to do with violence. But we
said it happens. But anytime a street legend comes back
to DC, people get excited. He really is reforming. His
son for years has been advocating for his release and
(01:05:49):
release the others that have the same sort of story.
I said, it was only nine when his dad went
to jail for over thirty years. And this is another thing.
As much as people are excited about BMF, one thing
I've always said is that we don't never really focus
on the flip side. You see people people get money.
You see people living these lavish lifestyle, but you don't
see the destruction of what it does community and family
some kind of way. And people always say this, some
of the most successful people in the drug game or whatever,
(01:06:12):
if they focus on something different, right, they could be
some of the biggest CEOs. They use their brains and
their savvy and their finessing skills for business, right, jay Z, Yeah,
all right, well done. Now we love having you here.
You know, you're a real great friend of mine in
real life. I really appreciate you. Yeah, So it was exciting.
Anything you want to promote or I just want to
(01:06:33):
say that, um haven't been in New York in a
while in a large I said, in a large capacity,
every Fool's day. It's a big show that's been going
off like last three or four years. Some big names
gonna be on that show. Myself, Tiffany had its Face.
I love Bill Bellamy a special performance about the baby
and it's become a tradition here in New York and
especially the Barclay Center. So if you haven't seen me
(01:06:55):
performing a lot while, make sure you come out to
the Barclay. Gonna take the mask a foosday. This is
not a joke, but if it is a joke, I
would be following up on my social media. Oh my gosh, well,
thank you for that. And eight let's hear you guys
with your last words. Hey, my name is her? Been
like this Tarnel light on, my wonderful mom best but
(01:07:20):
even else you think she's saving enough and there when
she has to do starting up a little business at
the same time and turning more knew what she mean?
That's how I want like this, Charlon light on. Hey brother, y'all.
What's up? Angela? Ye? What's up? Doll Rollins from from
the dn V. You know what I'm saying. Go okay, man, Angela.
(01:07:41):
I've been watching you for so long. I do want
to say that, Dandanell, you are tripping well, No, you're
actually you were correct when you first said until you
said something about training, training, But I don't think that
you know what I'm saying. You can know immediately you
don't really know someone because we all put on areas
(01:08:02):
at first. You don't know somebody until you live with them.
And I feel like that's the difference between men and women.
Women need the ring. Men once we live with you
were married with, regardless off. So that's where I say
you're different, But I love y'all. Man, Keep striving, keep surviving. Man, Hey,
(01:08:24):
this is about down now. I asked him to remember
a brother had his Spot and Tom Springs. We checked
each other out every time he was in town. Never
said anything for each other, but he was doing his thing,
talking all that. Today I wanted done the rollervoid, get
a boy, the cruik being me going way up with
(01:08:47):
Angela yee
