Speaker 1 (00:03):
What's up? His way up with Angela yee and welcome
in the building.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is also a monumental time we have Julian Horton
here with us, you know him as Roy on Beauty
and Black and congratulations, thank you so much. Literally a
couple of hours ago, it broke that season two is
happening for Beauty and Blacks happening, And I know you
couldn't wait for that news to break because I feel like, y'all,
you guys already taped it or you know, we know

(00:28):
how Tyler Perry does. Yes, okay, so I saw it's
going to be two parts also, just like Part one
was two parts steps yeh okay, and you know people
could not wait, and I am people for part two
to job because after part one ended, I was like, okay,
come on, we gotta like it's gonna be crazy.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
So I'm excited for this, yes, but of course there's
been so many moments on this show that Roy was
an integral part of. And listen, if y'all saw didn't
see it yet, that's on you because we're going to
get some spoilers. You should have been seen it when
it came out, So talk to me. About this, right,
because your character and this is something I was thinking about,

(01:07):
like your redeeming qualities of Rory, because he is somebody
that on the surface, it's like a mess, right, people
look at him as kind of the loser in the family.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
I mean they do, right, No.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
They do they do? No no no no no, yeah no.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Pay He's like, I get offended over my character. But
when you dig deeper into it, you can kind of
see why he might have all these issues because the
family is fucked up.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Definitely, definitely, and you got to see that in you know,
some of the scenes this season in part two, especially
with my Dad in the hospital scene, you get to
understand really why like Roy is the way he is now,
especially you know what I'm saying, So I get, you know,
he has a lot of layers to him, and I
think that he does have a lot of redeemable qualities.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
You know, what would you say those are if you
have to say as you're preparing for a character like that,
even though he may treat like Jimmy, you know, really
terribly and him and his wife have a contentious relationship,
but what are the things you say are redeemable about it?

Speaker 3 (02:08):
I think he's animated and likes to have fun. I
think he's an asshole a little bit, but I still
think that he'd be a fun guy to get a
drink with, right, That's what he does. He's animated, and
I'm a guy who doesn't take life too serious, and
I bring that to my characters that I play. And
that's why I think you're deemable about him. I don't
think he's just an asshole through and through. I think
he especially with his wife, they have so many moments

(02:30):
that the fans love.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, I will say your guys dialogue with each other
is probably, you know, the kiss and tell part, And
it's interesting because y'all seem like you hate each other,
but then at the same time, it feels like there's
something there.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Definitely.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
It's like you want to know who she's sleeping with.
She wants to know really badly who you're sleeping with,
and we don't care about each other.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Why does it matter?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Fact, there's definitely a deeper love down.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
There, for sure, and I think that's true for a
lot of people in real life. Like sometimes people get
so used to each other and then there is also
this dynamic of you know, you are the heir to
Beauty and Black and this huge fortune, and she's married
to you, and maybe she doesn't get the access that
she has without you. That's facts, right, But then you're

(03:15):
kind of the fuck up in the family. So without her,
who's kind of heading this up, you guys also need
each other.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Bound each other out, definitely, and I definitely think that
there's It's kind of like having a sibling. You know,
we have a sibling and someone talks about them, it's
like you are not allowed to do that. Only I'm
allowed to. And that's how he really is with her.
So it's just like, I think the love's there. We
talk shit to each other, but at the same time,
we definitely love each other. But maybe not though because
season two is uh some craziness.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
How do you interpret it as far as the character
of Boria, Like, what do you think he feels when
you are getting into character about his wife Mallory on there?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
That's a good question. I think that the way it's written,
I think that Roy has love for Mallorie. I think
that he operates out of ego a lot. He operates
out of selfishness, and I do think and believe that
since you know with Roy, you have Charles, his little brother.
He gets all of.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Love, right right, mother, you.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Know what I'm saying. But my mom played by Debbie Morgan,
who dies a maiden job. Then you have my father
who didn't give me no love really at the end
of the day. We learned that in episode nine of
the Crash and stuff. So then you've got Mallory who
comes up, who's adopted, who you just said, I'm supposed
to be the heir to the throne. She gets a position,
so there's always this like, yeah, he loves her, but
there's still a sense of jealousy there, Okay, sense a pride.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Oh that's interesting because sometimes men are really intimidated by
a powerful counterperfectly exactly, and people don't understand how hard
that is for men to be with somebody who is
in a position where they're looked at as like the
smart one, the person that's kind of running things, like
the family loves her.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Loves her, and then he's looked at like what does
he do?

Speaker 3 (04:54):
No shit, He's just there and actually he runs a
company and tells people and wants people to believe that
as a company. But you know, you've seen the show
Roy doesn't do shit.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, but get high and speak of prostitutes.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
When advice is exactly he does all these things and
at the end of the day he doesn't do nothing.
But at the same time, I think if his dad
give him the love and the proper attention and the
proper focus, I do think that he might be different.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Why do you think his father is like that with him,
because that's another thing that I wondered, because I think
a lot of parents because even when people think that
Roy could have you could have died in this you know,
sorry if y'all ain't seen it, but you know it's
over for you.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
But yeah, there was a part where we thought like.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Oh my god, is he dead? And then your father
comes to see you in the hospital. Instead of being
happy that you're alive, it's like beating you with the king.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
And the interesting thing about that too, that scene, and
this is kind of crazy with the whole Bellary family.
Before that scene, there's a scene with Kimmy and he's
like big no, Kimmy said, comes to my dad and
says like, yeah, I killed Roy, And then on his
face you can see this sort of like little he

(06:04):
did such a great job with this Rico Ross's amazing actor,
by the way, but you see on his face it's
like this sense of despair, the sense of despair that like, damn,
you really kill my son. And he kind of was
like that too with Charles, but he's always telling saying
that he hates him. He hates hates yeah, which is
which is an interesting thing with the Bellery family because
we always saying we hate each other, we don't like

(06:26):
each other. But I played it as when Charles died, especially,
that's my brother. I love him, you know what I'm saying.
And then it's just like but it's really weird because
it's really we do love each other, but just like
we don't want people to know that we love each other.
It's kind of strange because he does that look and
then the doctor comes in and like, yeah, your son

(06:46):
is in the other room, and then he goes from
if you're going to kill somebody, do it right. It's crazy.
So it's like this society like to put on we
all have to put on as a Bellary family, but
deep down this we still do love each other. And
it's it's an interesting thing.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Man. I whole families aren't like this in real life.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Ever.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
I mean, I know it's like a soap opera, but
I know, you know, but.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
There might be some founders like that.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
There probably are, you know what when money's involved too,
because I also think that people have this view of
anybody powerful, anybody rich is evil, you know, and that
is kind of what we look at the American way
as like if you made it to a certain point,
you have to have done something bad to get there.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Definitely, Yeah, but not tell the Perry.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
In real life hustled hustled for show.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
But yeah, back to this scene with you and Mallory
where you know, she's trying to figure out who you're
sleeping with. You're trying to figure out who she's sleeping with,
and it's so disrespectful. I mean, she's like, you know,
you say you don't kiss and tell you don't kiss
at all? Really, and then you said to her do
you suck and tell? Ye?

Speaker 3 (07:48):
See the thing about it, some of.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
These lives be so crazy.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
The thing about it is like Tyler Perry is a
funny man, and we know that, yeah, butut Medea's he's
he's very made it as well. And with me and Tyler,
I love our relationship when we have our working relationship
because with me and Crystal, who does a phenomenal job
as Mallory, we do have a lot of improv that

(08:12):
we do.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Right, So I mean, she comes at you because I
want to say more and that right, So then you
tell her that you could smell yeah, and she says,
does it smell like a twelve inch?

Speaker 3 (08:23):
And that's what I'm about to say. So we're doing
our own improv. And then Tyler would watching the scene
and he feels in ads lines to it right say,
and we'll hear it on the sit damn, and this
will say it. But it's funny as ship he does.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
That's interesting.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
So Tyler's that involved where he's watching as everything is getting.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Is heavily involved.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
He's a because we know he writes.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
We know, but for him to be on set actually
watching and chiming in on things, that's crazy.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
He does that and Drew and you don't catch your
ho damn all right, I got you, And then you
know and then I told you.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
And listen, listen and guys and guys really.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Say, that's why I give it be coming up with
the lines too.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
I will say, because you were on lip service before.
But on lip Service.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
We had plenty of guys come on there and say
they have sex, but they don't kiss anything. Kissing is
more intimate than sex. I've heard guys say that on
multiple occasions.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
And you asked me what I think.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Yeah, I'm about to get to that.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Okay, what do I think. I think that? Uh damn man,
I think I think it is more intimate. Actually, really
I do. I do think it's more intimate.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
I do because I mean, it's only guys that think,
like I know, I don't think any woman thinks that.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Because us men, we we can compartmentalize things way differently
than women. And uh not all men. I'm just saying,
you know, most men. But but I think.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
That, like I did it, but I didn't kiss her.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Yeah, I think that's like I think we have urged
some time to do something and we get there, you know,
and and then we get to urge off. But I
think like kissing is like I like you.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Okay and everybody, but sex maybe we would people kiss Okay.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yeah, no one pays to get kissed. People will pay
for sex.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
You have it.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
That's such an interesting way to put it.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Exactly like you know, the parking lot scene and doller, Perry,
they kissing back there?

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Hell, no, yeah, you don't see too much kissing going on.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
You see a lot of fucking, yeah, see a lot
of it, A lot of it, actually, a whole bunch.
Actually that's part of.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
What makes it so juicy to watch though, because I think,
you know, because I always watched like and I watched
the first part of season one and the second part,
and I was doing the same thing both times.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
I was in my bedroom and I was.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Doing like a full like refolding my clothes, because you
could really literally just have that on and watch it
while you're doing stuff. And I'm folding my clothes watching
the TV and not crazy. Yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
I'm saying. Tyler does it. He's mastered that, whatever that is,
he's mastered it to to create this binge worthy aspect
to his shows that you want to keep watching. The
acting is good enough and great enough, and the stories
you see enohing you just want to keep on going,
and then you can't take your eyes off of it.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
And interestingly enough, the shows always do so well, like
when it comes out, you know, breaking records on top
of streaming, but then for some reason, always on the
flip side of that. The reviews and people always like
this is awful, this is terrible talk, and it's so
wild to me, like talking ship.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
But you know, I'm on it. I don't give it that,
You know me, I told you last time. I don't
give a shit they toned you. Hey, if I catch it,
you might get a fucking coment from Julian Horton twelve.
We'll talk. But it's all you think about it. It's
all funny games with me though.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
You don't take it that seriously.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
They can say it's horrible, blessed position to be in
and everyone's watching it.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Come on, I'm here with you right now. Do you
know what I'm saying? Like people being the better and
I'm here with you. We on Netflix. We get to
be in a position that God's allowed me to be in.
And at the end of the day, people gonna talk
positive negative. It is what it is.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
And I think when you think about some of the
topics that are discussed right like even with Kimmy's little
sister being kidnapped and abducted and taken into the strip
club and drugged and being forced to work, that's really
sad to me, like to see something like that, but
stuff like that does happen in real life, and you
see it play out on there, and it's discussing that
any guy would even request that.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
It's crazy, you know, and that.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Somebody with and then even the Beauty and Black brand,
like recently, this article was really circulating about synthetic here.
I know my hair is braided right now, but they're
talking about how that causes cancer and things like that,
and you know, with different brands and the products that
are it's just interesting how this really does tie in
to so much that's actually happening.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
And we're gonna say what they want about Tyler, but
Tyler's very in the know with the culture. He's very cerebral,
and he knows what he's talking about and he knows
what to write about because it shares common nowity as
what's going on in the culture. And he's like, it
might be crazy, but that parking lot scene is from somewhere.
He didn't sitn't write that. It's because oh I wouldn't

(13:10):
do some bulger shit. No, here's some crazy shit going
on in the world and people have witnessed that, and
Tyler has. He's seen a lot, so he writes about it.
That's why he's you know, he's done a lot, so
he writes about it and you know, it comes out great.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
I also think about how innocent Kimmy was when this
first started, Yeah, and how she wanted to get the
scholarship and you know, do the right thing. She got
put in a really bad position working in the strip club.
But now she's a murderer.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
You know that that is actually kind of crazy because
like because it's in part it's in part two, in
part one and stuff. But I didn't even think about
the Yeah, part one she was doing that. She has
a crazy like character arc. Yeah, because she just wanted
to be an innocent person. Yeah, Now her whole life
has flits up the upside.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Down, like she thought she killed you.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
We saw her below somebody's head off man, you know,
and now she is about to be, as we see
at the end of season one's about to be everybody's
boss crazy potentially. Now we obviously we don't know what's
going to happen yet. In Part two, we've seen a
little snippet of a trailer. It looks like Mallory and
Kimmy are either going to face off, her team up

(14:13):
and I can't tell which one it's about to be.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Damn. That's all I can say.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Right, that's all you can say.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
What now, let's just say it was you, yeah, writing
the script, not to say what's really going to happen.
But after the end of season one, how would you
approach season two if it was you, if it was
Julian saying this is what should happen next?

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Okay? What I would do? Roy would go to therapy one.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Okay, we got to get that thing back working.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
You go to therapy leader Cocolow. Yeah, and I want
to see a successful you know, partnership with Mallory. You know.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Okay, So you want Word to clean up his act,
you want him to fix his marriage, go to therapy, But.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
The total opposite happens.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Maybe maybe maybe that's not it, that's not in the car.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I don't know what happened season two.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Maybe this could be a whole nother sliding door situation
where we can see what could happen if we're cleaned
up his acts.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Now, the way the way season two is going, the
way it's going, the way it's written, I think the
fans are gonna love it. I think that uh, it's
I think it's even more explosive than season one.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Imagine that.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
No, it's because because season one, you know, it's it's
a pilot, it's a pilot season.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Okay, okay, so.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
You got that. You have to, you know, have the
foundation and lay the groundwork for the series, so you
have solo and parts, slow moving parts sometimes. Season two
is it's going to be explosive, and I think fans
will they're gonna be really really excited to see some
some of the stuff that we have for season two.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Man and I had a chance to sit down with
the legendary Debbie Morgan, so it was nice to.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
See her in the role of that she's in. She's
a wild one, She's amazing.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
That scene in the hospital was got to be my
top three favorite scene of the.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Show because before you see everybody who slapped Debbie Morgan.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
No facts, No, that's that's that's see what's hilarious.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
I'm gonna tell you what my favorite scene was that
she did when she told her a little young no
dude to get in a bag that was getting a bag.
And I did not think that that was going to
happen the way that it did, but it goes.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
There because it's nuts too, because like you know, obviously
we don't know what other actors are filming, you know
what I'm saying. So I got my my storyline. Yeah,
I got my storyline. I see I see Mallory a lot.
I see Kimmy in part one, I see my brother.
But me and my mom we only had like that
one I think that one scene where we just you know,

(16:37):
when we had the group scene and stuff. We didn't
have a lot of solo scenes, so I don't know
what miss be doing something. You read the script, but
then it's like you kind of forget about and focus
on your lines and focus on your scene. So when
you see it in the trailer, like well my mom
got a gun, folk, or why she got this? Folk?
Like what's going on? Why she got a bag? Why
she got niggas pulling up? And then you see it,
it's crazy. Man.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Maybe in season two, Mallory and Kimmy would just pass
you around. You could just be like their little boy
to everybody's.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
Where y'all see season two, y'all gonna be.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Because you're the one that's really like I guess you
picked women that are both running the business in a
way man.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
When you'll see season two.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Did you know before you film that you were going
to live, like after that scene where you got pushed
out the window.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
I didn't know until I read episode fourteen. When I
saw it, I was like, nigga, I know I ain't dead.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
He's like, come on, now we got another.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I need the money, I need the career, and and
and then so I kept reading. Now I was like, no, no,
you know I survived. So it's great.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Now you've you've been acting before this, and I know
you're doing music too, So let's.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
That's that's the man right there. Okay, that's the man
of the plan.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
But what's the plan?

Speaker 3 (17:50):
We got some stuff on the.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Way, all right, tell us a little bit.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
This is you know, so my dog Tim aka Man
on the mission. You know, he great clothing designer, one
of my best friends in TMO clothing guru. But he's
also a phenomenal, phenomenal rapper. So you know, we might
have some stuff on the way. We work us on
some things. Okay, So trying to take advantage of the

(18:13):
moment as you.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Should, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
That's show and I feel like things like this, I
mean you could get some music in the show, and
why not.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
I'm telling you it's about to.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Be, because I know as much as you've been doing
this has something that's this is something that's been really
really Like now, I'm sure everybody knows you as ry
and sometimes that is a gift and a curse too,
because you know, I think that you've established yourself. But
now it's kind of like this show just came out
the gates, so wild and so crazy.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
I'm thankful though, because, by the grace of God, I
think that I have a lot of layers to this character.
I think he gets to be animated, he gets it
be It's really like all the parts of Julian Horton.
I get to play this character. So some parts in
your life, and I mean some characters you don't get
to do that. And with you get to be emotional,
you get to be vulnerable, you get to be mean,

(19:03):
you get to be vicious, you get to be funny,
get to be animated, so many things you get to
tap in, especially with part two because in Part one
is just the asshole, asshole, asshole, and then Part two
to see.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
Oh I did feel bad for him.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
That's what I kept seeing people feel Maverroy, I feel bad.
It's like, you know what I'm.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Saying, because you like, please somebody feel bad.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
You see why how he's how he is.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
I wonder if Roy could ever trust anyone.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
I know. I think he trusts Jewels, that's his right hand.
Even though they talk. They have a weird relationship and
it's like Jewels, but I think he definitely trusts Jewels,
and that's really I think that's the only one he
really trusts, maybe his brother.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
I feel like.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Jewels is so not trustworthy to man, I feel like
no one in this show can be really, nobody can
be trusted.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
No one has Yeah, no one's like the the.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Only person that maybe trust is Angel. He's like the
nice person. Is He's like the nice trying to do
the right thing, yes, yes, and very innocent yes type
of person.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
He's the one that got him in the situation. So
is he that innocent? We don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
I mean, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
But maybe he's innocent just because he knows that it's
his fault.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Okay, because I also feel like he does try to
do the right thing, like does he's a ditch, but
then he's still like trying to get the girl out
the strip club. You know, he's trying to help and
he's not getting necessarily anything out of that. And I wonder,
how does a little girl forgive her oldest sister for
lying to her, and because it is Kimmy's fault that
she got in the situation that she got into in

(20:32):
a way also, you know her lifestyle, lying about it,
not giving the heads up, and then she gets kidnapped
and then you know, force into things that's really awful.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
But is it really Kimmy's fault or is it the
mom's fault? Okay, who originated it? And in the foundation
with the stepdad who came in doing some shit that
is disgusting that made Kimmy get out the house and
then she had nowhere to go, and she meets a
girl who's in Walmart and then let's do this and
then she has nowhere to go.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
Yeah, really that's why it's family.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
That's what. Yeah, that's why I really want to show,
Like when I have this character Roy, I wanted to
show the angles because you have to find an angle
playing somebody like Roy. He's doing koke, he's doing craziness
to women. You got to find an angle that's like redeeming,
but also can teach a lesson right. And my most
thing that I wanted to teach is like, yo, you
have to be a good parent and really start people
early and treat people right so people can have a

(21:22):
better chance at this world. It doesn't guarantee that people
going to be good, but you want to give him
an advantage and a good start and a good head
start in this world. So that's why I wanted to show,
especially because Kimmy's in the situation she's in because parents.
I'm not going to say I'm and I'm just gonna
say Roy doesn't feel the love because of his parents.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Yeah, that's a fact.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
He has a lot of vices because he didn't get
the proper love, you know at the beginning, and.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Even in his marriage.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
I wonder if there ever was love there, like to
even know, why did y'all even get married? Because there's
even one part where you're like, I don't care about
the shares, I don't care about anyone. You can get divorced, yeah,
and she's like, now you know you want your shares?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
No. It was It's crazy because the fans really really
do want to see like the Roy Mallory show and
just how it got here right, and the origin of
it and was there of her love? And I do
believe there was love there because they're still staying together. Right,
It can easily just go away, but.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
They're still, you know, and not even just staying together,
but also caring so much about what the other person
is doing. Yeah, Like why do I care who you're
sleeping with?

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Go do it? Like why do I want to know?
Because she is really on the hunt?

Speaker 3 (22:26):
She really is, you know, to find out. I have
those little moments like you're doing my wife, you're doing
my wife? You doing my Wife's like three nick, you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
So I couldn't imagine being with somebody. But you know what,
people don't know what type of situations they get themselves.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
In all the time. Crazy world.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Now what else?

Speaker 2 (22:42):
So you said the music is something that you're taking
advantage of the moment. What are some other things you're
doing now personally for Julian to take advantage of the moment.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
You know, I have a brand called TMO stands for
the Most Original. My guys here who all came with
me today, my family, my brothers all here, We're just
trying to take advantage to just you know, we got
clothing on the way, we got music on the way,
just trying to build every avenue, just to take advantage
anything that we can do, any God given talent, anything

(23:10):
that we're good at. We just trying to take the
most advantage of right now or the music, close production,
doing my own thing. So I've been writing, I've been producing,
trying to get some movies done of my own short
films and films and stuff of that nature. Because this
position is a blessed position to be in, and I
know I got to honor it because God allowed me
to have it. And that's what I'm doing right now.

(23:32):
I'm just trying to take advantage of the moment.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
As you should.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
But no, no, what have been some of the best
reactions that you had in real life from people?

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Now?

Speaker 3 (23:41):
The best reactions, there's a lot of good interaction.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
You know.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
I went to the Eagles game in Philly, and you know,
you know we talked about last time, like libserve, I'll
just be doing my own thing and they walking around
the city. But I walked like three miles from the
Eagles game because there was an NFC championship and there
was no ubers, so I had to walk and keep

(24:08):
on walking to see if there was an uber that
could pick me up. But there was none, so I
kept walking and kept walking and kept walking. Finally yes,
by myself and the cold and Chelsea boots and twenty
degree weather, freezing pole frozen as hell. But I'm walking
and walking and walking, and then I get on the
corner of just random street. It's just you know that
you got the whole He's got the Philly Cheese steak spots,

(24:29):
and you know, I got Eagles fans walking and walking
and walking and walking and stuff. But then you know,
you got some some black girls come up and stuff
and they won't buy, and the walk and and I
get the slot, they'll walk by, double take, and they'll
keep walking.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
And then somebody looking at someone turn.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Around all the time. You got Nigga from that show,
and that's what they'll say to me. I'm like, I
don't know, you're talking about Nona. You him and put
a phone out and I'm like, yeah, okay, that's me,
that's me, and take pictures. That's cool. And then these
other four black else came up, and I'll just be
chilling because I'll just be just be chilling. I'll be chilling.
I'm waiting for him. My business, none of my business.

(25:06):
It's five minutes, aga damn. So then girls, I hear
chatter a little channel and black. I hear black. You
know what I'm saying. I hear the word black. I'm like,
they're talking about me. They're talking about me. I think
they're talking about me right now. Hey, you ain't gotten
that show. I'm like, I always say, I know what

(25:26):
you're talking about. Just people I don't know, and might
I gotten the show? Nigga started playing. You hearhim take
the phone out whatever whatever. But then they're asked me.
So we got in the conversation, took pictures or whatever whatever,
and and then they said, where's Broad Street at And
I say, you set over there, it's over there, down
the street and stuff. So finally my uber came. After

(25:47):
talking to them for five minutes, and then they walked off,
and you know, I was in the black truck by myself,
and I say, you know, this is a big car.
I could use some people to talk to, so hey hey.
And then then and then they I got their attention

(26:08):
and I say, hey, row with me and then they
wrote together, and then they asked me all these questions
about the show. You know, Uncle matter fucking me and egga, uncle,
your brother, all this stuff. So it's just having these interactions.
Having this reception to the show is a blessing. It's
amazing and I'm truly honored just to even be on
the show, to have people watch my acting. Yeah, you know,
because I like, I could have did the skit stuff,

(26:30):
I could have did Instagram videos, I could have did
a lot of things that people wanted me to do
or suggested. But I just like love this craft so much.
I love movies so much, I love Hollywood so much.
I love the art of filmmaking so much, and I
just wanted to do the right way. So to be
on the show, to be on the biggest streaming service
in the world, to be able to be a character
that conveys a lot of emotion and people can see

(26:52):
the acting skills on full display, I'm fully grateful for it.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Just think about it.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
You went from football to acting to have to take
a step back and drive Uber, which we talked about before,
and now you're taking Uber blacks and bringing people with you.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Man, I didn't even think about that. That is a
hell of a damn transition and pivot right. I didn't
even think about that. I drove Uber and now I
take only Uber blacks.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
I take whatever Uber's cheap is. I'm gonna be honest,
I didn't do it.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
I got a friend named Paul Dawson, and I know
that ten years old, and you know, he get that money.
So I'll be saying some things. And because they're here,
because they get it, but probably getting that money. So
he and I was riding Uber. He takes the black truck.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
No, I take it regular, take the black truck every time.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
So I'm like, and you know, and like Drew and
get the Uber and I would get them the regular
cheap joint.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Whatever when you got to wait extra time for extra time.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
I got so used to the black truck though, and
the luxuries of having a black truck, and just like
the size of it and and and and just he
just a truck, the luxuries of it and everything like that.
I'm like, Yo, when I get money, I'm taking a
black truck every time.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Like that, every time.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
I can't even even even going to get haircut. Of
the day we took a black truck.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Oh, my gosh, I know he getting bougie.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just yeah, but that's the
only thing on bougie.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
I think I only take a black truck if it's
like slightly more expensive. But when sometimes that black truck
you costing so much more, I'm like, more so much.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
I could and I could take it. You know, we
could take a Uber.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Can you fly coach?

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Yes? Now, I will say that.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Interesting, so your flight coach. But you needed to take
a black Uber.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Yeah, because because because flights is different. You know what
I'm saying. Flights a flight, you know what I'm saying,
it's gonna give a point at the point B. But
the black truck, yeah, because sometimes people be having stains
in the car. People be Oh.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
One time I was taking a regular Uber to the airport.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
It was when I was I was in LA I
was trying to catch a super early flight. My friends
sat on the other side and somebody must have pissed
on that seat. I'm telling her, whole pants were wet,
and I just said to myself, I'm so glad, I
said on.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
This sub fact fact.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
And she was so oh mad, she had to like
change her pants when we got I mean, that's so disgusting.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
It's disgusting, and it's just different. But the black Truck
is gonna be official every time.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Sometimes they got candy and.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Water, candy TV, the little game. I'll be playing the
little thing. We'll try to get to beat the high score.
I'll be doing everything like that, just thinking.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
About But honestly, and I know, you know, just people
should go back and watch that Lip Service episode two.
But you should feel so great about just like because
when we had you on the first time, even more
has happened since then. What else do you have in
the works besides Part two? More acting? Are you looking
at more scripts? I know you're writing your own. You said, yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Got this movie coming out called The Highwaymen, and it's
it's actually in the Civil Rights era when it came out,
I mean when it was happening. The movie is about
the Civil rights era. Yeah, it takes places of rights era,
but yeah, it's about the Florida Higwaymen. And there are
painters that have painted in the sixties. And I got
a movie. Yeah, that's that's the next movie that I
got coming out. And I got to play this guy

(29:58):
named Alfred Newton, and yeah, it's gonna be great to
just let people see a different side of me too,
because it's like I got a little southern act with it,
and let me hear it again a little bit like
I'm a painter. Now I'm trying to do better. I
got the better for these people. Now. You gotta know
that everybody gonna keep on watching you when you gotta
paint the best you can. You see, Yeah, you gotta

(30:22):
do stuff like that, and I want to be the best.
I'm not see this thing too. I'm not in this
like Timothy charlom May says something the other day. So
I'm like, if that's not your perspective of mentality, I
don't know why you do it. And I know everyone's different.
People get in for money, and people get in it for,
you know, to be comfortable things of that nature. I

(30:44):
get in this because I want to be the best.
I don't want to just act. I mean, this is
not just the this is just the beginning. I'm here
to be one of the greats. I'm here to be
one of the best actors I can be. I want
to be one of the best actors in the world.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
That should be the goal.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
That's the goal. For Shure Oscars and Emmies. I want those,
I really do want those because I love this craft
so much. And that's why I'm busted to play his
character because I get to do a lot of things
with the actor. I'm just glad that people got to
see the acting right because we can talk about it
is so crazy, the drama. I can't stop watching me.
I want you to watch the acting though, and I'm
bringing it every damn time, and I'm bringing everything i

(31:19):
have to this role. I go home exhausted more in
football because my mind is that the energy and the
capacity that you have to have to play this character,
it takes a lot. Yeah, Roy does a lot.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Yeah he does.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
I gotta smoke, I gotta do it, and I do
all my stunts. I don't let no one else do
my stunts, or at least try not to. They they
try to be sneaky.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Sometimes, like we can't have you fly out this window.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
They try to be sneaky. Sometimes they'd be like, oh,
let me just do it, no Jeling, let me do it,
no Jeling. They had to tell me like, hey, you can't.
Because I'm passionate about this. I'm passionate about everything. In
my life. I'm passionate about my friends, passionate about God.
I'm passionate about everything that I do because that's how
I am. So I yeah, when this acting stuff, I
just want to keep on just being great and yeah
I got that movie on the way.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Do you feel like sometimes after filming, because I know
you guys film for long periods of time, you got
to like get out of.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
The roy mode.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Nah, I don't, to be honest with you, I don't
really have that. I don't have an issue with that.
I don't believe I can get into it quick.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Like I feel like sniff that's.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
Fact fact No, But it's I don't really have an
issue because some actors do. I've had like other actors
said like, yeah, I got I gotta I'm gonna go
meditate real quick. Can really and not get that. But
for me, by the grace of God, I really just
I just I'm back to joking you.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
You've talked about anxiety too. How is that for you now?
Is that something that you've been working on? Has it
gotten better worse?

Speaker 3 (32:39):
That's a constant daily journey. I think my anxiety is
definitely uh, I'm not evenna call it my anxiety. Anxiety.
I think it's definitely gotten better as time going on,
because I'm doing a lot more. I'm always active, Like
I'm a huge advocate for vitamins, I'm a huge advocate
for meditation. I'm a huge advocate for prayer. Doing those things.

(33:00):
Combining all those things, walking, spending time with friends, and
just being present as best as I can be definitely
definitely alleviation and diminishes anxiety. So I'm good, I'm present,
My mind is good, my mental is good, my spirit
is good, and I feel I feel great.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
What are you doing on your downtime when you're not working.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
I'm hanging with these guys.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
It feels good. Friends.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Yeah, and they get to work and everybody's working and
everyone work is fun. I always say that it may
seem like I'm having fun, but I'm really working.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Definitely working business and pleasure. But yeah, like, uh, I'm
I'm I've been blessing, my honored to be in this position,
and I know that it's my God given duty to
pay it forward to my family, to people that see
me on the street, to my friends. I just try

(33:53):
to pay it forward the best I can. So that's
why when I come up here. And that's why when
I come to New York, I don't come along. I
come my guys. Yeah, that's why I brought Jerry life. Like,
I want everyone to experience this because I just this
is a blessing. Yeah, and I don't take it for granted.
So I want people to experience this and to be
with me every step of the way, because this is
just a great position to be in.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Yeah. It's a reciprocal thing too, because it's really hard
to do things alone.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
You do need a great team of people.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Definitely.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
That's around as well.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
I have great friends. I love my friends so much.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Yeah, some people who fall off and then some people
who are going to be right there, you know.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
And and it's not there's no fake there's no jealousy,
there's no envy, there's no's I got true the thing
about it for real, for real, I can almost cry,
Like for real, Damn. I have like priceless things in
my life. You can't buy. You just can't buy it.
My family, God, yes, sua, my friends. The support that

(34:48):
I get second to none, It's second to none. I
don't have any egos or any envy, or any doubters
or any people that is telling me things like that
would even I would even have to check. I don't
have to nobody, because the love is real, it's authentic,
it's genuine. It's to have that around me that alleviates
anxiety because I'm always present, I'm always happy. I ain't
got to worry about things. I ain't got to overthink

(35:09):
about things because everything is handled and taken care of
and it's just a beautiful life.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
You're right about that. The main thing is people around you.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
There's always like I have an idea, let's do this,
we should do this, or I got this for you,
and how can we make this happen? And I think
that's like the key to success. It can't just be
you trying to figure it out and do it on
your own. It's got to be people around you that's
looking out for your best interest and they know that
you have their best interests at heart too.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Definitely, they understand that. Everyone around me understands that, from
family to my people, to my girl to everybody. They
understand just like we're here to just make everything smooth
and have the best motion we can have.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
All right, Well, congratulations on that. I'm looking forward to
see what's going to happen in season two. I know
you're gonna come check back into you know how we do.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
I thank you for having me every time.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Yes, and the music when you have you know, when
we're ready, let me know about that too, because I
definitely will.

Speaker 3 (36:05):

Speaker 1 (36:10):

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Did you show you a song? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:13):

Speaker 3 (36:14):

Speaker 1 (36:15):
Absolutely? I told you we like heat you see it?

Speaker 3 (36:21):

Speaker 4 (36:24):
I'm not ready yeah, members.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Yeah, we could turn on all right, Well, thank you
for coming.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
