Speaker 1 (00:03):
Look, who's back in the building. Kid, Glock is here?
I heard your in town for Saint Patrick's Day. No, okay, no,
but there's the Saint Patrick's Day parade going on outside.
I didn't even realize it was going to be so crazy,
you know, outside of New York. Did you feel like
jumping out and joining the festivities.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I didn't even feel like jumping out the bed, but
I had to. You got work to do, and you
was first out, like, yeah, I rock with Angel.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I appreciate that you got a new album on the way.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
I know it was pushed back because originally it was
supposed to be out, so but you said, there's a
reason why. So what's the reason why the album was
pushed back?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Because I can't stay at the studio. I keep recording
new songs and replace them. And then again, it's certain
songs that take long to get cleared, you know. It
was like for examples, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
All right, Blackavelli and I see the cover is reminiscent
of the Tupac.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Anyway, I just didn't want to put myself on the cross,
so I just put a crown, a throw on the
crown on my head, all right?
Speaker 1 (01:12):
And what made you come up with that, like as
far as the title and channeling the Machavelli which was
that was my favorite Tupac album. I know people always
debate about what's their favorite one, but hell Mary was.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Really I just I've been studying Park since like I
was a young boy, since I was like real small.
But like when when you think of part like how
they how they display him, it's like it's just just
straight thug life all the time. But when you read
more about him, when you look more into him, like
(01:48):
he was actually smart and he stood for you know
what I'm saying, certain things that you wouldn't even you
wouldn't even know about because they don't they don't.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Talk about and his family too, I think she even
with his mom still keeping his legacy. If you wanted
people to know what what does key clock stand for?
Because clearly that's something that you felt connected to, And
so it feels like maybe there's things about you that
you feel like people don't know you stand for.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Oh I think everybody they kind of know what's something
to me because I don't. I don't just don't play around.
I don't just do stuff to do it. But like
my biggest thing is loyalty, Like I take that over.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Love, okay, but you know I feel like those go
hand in hand though, because you're not going to be
loyal to somebody if you don't well maybe right, you
think you could be loyal.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
To somebody and not love them prove love okay through loyalty.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
All right, So loyalty is with where is it then? Right?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
But do you think you could love somebody and not
be loyal that's.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
A question you do.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
So even in a relationship, if.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
You're not love, you can't love.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Them, Okay, No way you love them, if you know
what I'm saying, If you're not just.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Always stuck on them.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
I love all right, So you feel like you like, look,
I don't want to get you in no trouble with nothing.
But so because you know men she all the time,
but they'll be like, well I did love her, right
and so but for some reason, men don't equate when
it comes maybe with friendships and family.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Different levels of love, like phases of love, like some
some women might get more love than the next one,
Like it's just it's just like that, it's not on purpose,
like it's all it's all it's on a woman with
me like it's all on you.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Because I feel like you have not been a person
that's really like, you know, put your business out there
like that when it comes to relationship. That's why when
you was online, I was like a kid, like what
is going on right here? But to me that made
me feel like you was really like emotional, you know
what I'm saying. And I think sometimes men be like
not wanting to show that type of emotion.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Well, I don't know what do you learn.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
From that too, Like as far as you know, publicly
saying anything or a public relationship, is that something that
you wouldn't want to do.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
I really didn't even I was just I was just talking.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Out loud, even just because you don't normally do that.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
I was just I was just a chance.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Well, I want to talk about this three am in Tokyo.
I love that song.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
So DJ Paul had a hand in producing that. So
talk to me about how this even because I see
him posting about it a lot too, So talk to
me about how that.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Obviously you guys have you know, a.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
History, a shared history together, but tell me about how
this all came about.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
It Really it really came out of nowhere. I was
leaving l A and we were just having a conversation,
like we always have conversations, but we never like get
any work done. Like I'm cool with it, like I'm
cool with having a relationship and you know what I'm saying,
and they don't have to have like no music involved.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
It's even it's better sometime like that.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
So this particular days, he just just sent the pack
out of nowhere like probably fifteen twenty beats. And that
one just stuck out to me the most that day
because I was actually in Tokyo and I recorded it
in my hotel, and when I got done recording it,
I just went to the city and just shot at
the video.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Who was that guy at the end?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
The guy.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
So he just was talking like what was that?
Speaker 4 (05:43):
It was round?
Speaker 2 (05:44):
It was like I would shooting my last scene, and
he didn't want to like walk in front of the
camera like being away or whatever, so he kind of
like just just stayed just just stayed back and just
watched the whole thing. So yeah, my camera had to
had it still rolling. So he was like, I'm glad
I stopped to wait for the thing. He was being
(06:06):
starcastic or whatever, but I took it as like. I
was like, shit, the thing is glackavilly, Like, little do
we know this is really what he comes about? And
little do he know this what he coming about? So
that just kept it in the video.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yeah, that was pretty funny.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
And I was like, and three am. Who knows what
people are doing at three am in Tokyo. I've never
been to Tokyo. What was that experience like for you?
Speaker 2 (06:29):
It's it's like Miami No Beach in New York.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
So think about that, Okay, Miami No Best so very active. Yeah,
and everything's open, a lot going on. I know you
got some shopping done the whole time.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
I probably spent.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Like like thirty almost thirty thousand a day I was
out there.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Oh my god, I'm not just holler myself though.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
It was just oh on who I love like you said,
not just on myself.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
You know, I have a moment out there with me. Okay,
I have my boys with me.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
You know.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
That's nice.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I didn't read that you were generous when it comes
to well, that's good, you know, And I think clearly
fashion is your thing too. The first thing I have
to always look at when you when I see you
as the fing like what he got on today Chilli.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Right now though, I got this hoodie my homeboy Memphis
made this I like that chance called don't let my
mom find out You're going crazy.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
That's funny.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
I like that he spreading everywhere for sure.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
And you know what was funny to me because I
always look at you as like people look at Keith
Glack is like he's very you know, protective over himself.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
You don't really get.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
When you did the podcast A Safe Place and Bill
Yachty and Mitch and you was just kind of like,
I'm not in it.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Because it's how be anyway go right in here?
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Who might not even here?
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Yeah? Who would have known something like that would have
been so vi and there you were.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
They not like still to this day, I don't know
if they was playing or no.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
I think they were serious because they kind of ended
the podcast after that they yeah, like for real, like.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Yeah, I think it right, doesn't know.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
I think it turned into like a whole thing with
the two of them, you know, but those conversations are real,
and I think in real friendships and people have known
each other for a long time.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
If it was real, like it just it shouldn't have
been in front of me, right, yeah, because I wouldn't.
I wouldn't do that too. You know what I'm saying,
one of my boys in front of it. You know
what I'm saying, somebody that is not my boy.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
You know what I'm saying, right, yeah, No, you're right
about that.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
I was like, this is the perfect person because I
know you wasn't gonna you was minding your business like
I'm just here.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Flow no flow. It just landed to.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Yeah, and you got a new deal and you talk
about that signing bonus.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
All right, Republic Records.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Congratulations, you know, because you have been so successful even
without a maze your label, without a major label deal,
and people always say, well why why? But you know,
tell me what was the thinking behind that? Was that
something you were pursuing or I know labels have for
sure been wanting to sign you, but Republic, how did
that happen?
Speaker 2 (09:16):
It really, really, the whole major situation just came from
something I've been wanting to do anyway.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
I just didn't never want to rush it.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
It was all about the time, and I wanted to
make sure I set milestones independently first, and once I
accomplished them, then I was like Okay, I did enough
my way. Now I can you know what I'm saying,
go team up with somebody that can make me even bigger,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
So it's like.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
I couldn't just signed to any major, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
So it was like like Republic.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
They they they understood me the most, and it made
me break the pin.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
I know a lot of times artists end up signing,
but they don't announce it until later. So how long
ago did you actually sign this because they'd be like, Okay,
we gotta wait till we put this song out or
wait till.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
We announce it. I've been going through this shit for
I say nine months. Oh wow, Yeah, Like I I
thoroughly like went through paywork, had talks with my team,
talks with lawyers, talks with my mom.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Was like, just I didn't I didn't rush the ship
at all.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
What did your mom say? Because that's the most important thing.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
She went.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Whatever I'm with, she whatever I'm with, she knows she
know I ain't gonna do nothing wrong to put myself
in jeopardy or you know what I'm saying, or harmona,
like she knows, she knows her baby smart, like you know,
for sure, I.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Know she got to be proud to see like where
you started and where you are right now, you know,
just to see all of the plaques that you have.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
That's the first person you got to hipy Like I
got another plaque.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
To ask I give her all of them, like they
go straight to her.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Yeah, and she probably got a pictures. She like, my baby,
gave me another plaque.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
And then one thing that's interesting is I feel like,
you know, for you being from Memphis is a lot.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Of people that actually add to that.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Like it's like this person introduced me to this person,
and then I met that person you went to high
school with.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Take Keith yep, me take Keith pool Shasty.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Wow, y'all all went to high school together.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Yeah, like we all know each other, like we all
we know each other person.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Like y'all was real cool back then, even.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, we all know each other.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Like, yeah, I saw somewhere they were saying that pool
Shasty might be coming home soon.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Or yea in headway he's in a halfway house. Yeah
he spoke to him.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
No, I ain't spoke to him. I don't. I don't
like speaking to nobody.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
That's being you know what I'm saying, because like this evening,
if they in State Fits Headway House, I'd rather just
talk to you when you get out.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
I don't like the feeling of it.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Okay, Yeah, now the new album, we know that you
have been known to not do a ton of features,
so you're on a major label. Now is it still
a fucking feature or what are we doing it still?
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Is? I made sure we got that understood, Like, yeah,
for sure.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Is there anybody that like, oh we could link you
because sometimes the link up is not a bad thing
if it makes sense.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Sure, I'm like, I don't mind collabing at all, Like
I'm down to collab. But like when they hear CLOCK
don't do features, they think I don't do them at all,
Like I won't even get on they song. So it
kind of it kind of have people like a, I
don't know it's feeling about me, so they just they
(12:45):
some people like they still come ask for the feature
as they should.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
That's tell Tia current talking about you and how amazing
it was being in the studio with you doing the
song Blake that you guys did together.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
You're real homie for sure.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
That's good.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Always helping out the next person. So, so the album
is coming out when in May or May second. That's
a firm date. Now you're not going to go in
the studio.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
And change things official.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
It'sufficient And I do like the song also, no Sweat.
It starts off with that key sweat sample that So
is that a song that you loved when you was.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
I didn't love. I just like that.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
It sounds like.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
When we was in elementary and middle school they.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Used to like like kids, it was real like playful
on were real big on parodies back then. So I
forgot what who who did some to this song? But
nobody just always was you know what I'm saying something
that just stuck, stuck in my head.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
And keeps better is still the man to this day?
Speaker 4 (13:45):
You know that's hard.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
What other things did you listen to like that we
would not expect for you growing up?
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Johnny Taylor Tyne days reading Curtis and Mayfield?
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Wow? Uh? Her is the one of that documentary about
Curtis Mayfield?
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Real?
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah, she just talked about it and how Curtis Mayfield
doesn't get like the recognition that he should get for.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
Being He's definitely one of them.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
For sure, what does kid like watch at home? Like
when you're at home? Are there any things that you
binge watch on TV? Like what do you do when.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
You're Like when I'm at home, I'm probably read listening
to music or or on the phone.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
M Oh, you're one of those that's always on the phone,
not like a person.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Yeah, yeah, I don't like Tison. You gotta call him?
I hate Tison?
Speaker 1 (14:42):
And are you good at answering the phone? Because you
know how some people are, Like, I need a heads
up before you FaceTime me.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
It's so crazy, Like my phone been on fibreak silent
ever since I bought it, like get out. It's like
if I don't see you call her right then there
like my phone and in my hand, I don't see
you call it. I'm just gonna miss it. It won't
be on purpose or nothing. It's just how I am.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
So you feel good about the project? Is it pretty
much done you're just waiting for clearances?
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Or it's done, it's overdone, it's well done.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Was that signing bonus check? Like a huge?
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Was that the threes don't even know?
Speaker 3 (15:28):
He was like, it was so good. I put it
in the song.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
I can't give me nothing. I already sing it before.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
That's what I'm saying because I feel like you made
so much money just from doing shows, from being independent,
and you were able to come to the table and
kind of dictate what it is that you wanted in
order to be able to do no more worth, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
It's all.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
You gotta be your own worth, create your own worth.
Can let nobody tell you your worth?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Yeah, because I feel like people always are there's this
narrative of like, oh why sign and I said, you
may't do pre talking about it the other day, you
saw that conversation where he was like, everybody's chasing what
these major labels have to offer, but they're trying to
like talk about staying independent.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
You know, he was right in the way, but he
just had to deliver it better. It's all. He just
should have probably worded it better.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah, because sometimes things get lost.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
People don't know how to dis sick things or take things.
They just take it and run with it.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
So are their features on this project?
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Not this one?
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Okay, not this one.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
I'm probably I'm probably start doing futures in twenty twenty seven.
That'll be ten years put out my first tape that
makes sense.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
I have ten year run no features.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
I think that's good though, because most artists like they
rely on features.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Yeah, they'll be like.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Who that's how they make that way? That's on them.
But me, I'm the way the way I like. I
plan how I wanted to be in this industry, Like
my rollout's going exactly how I wanted to go, Like
exactly how I wanted it to go. Like everybody gets
stay time like you just you just don't know when,
(17:06):
and it's up to you to take advantage of it.
So everybody had their time. Everybody's shining like everybody. So
I'm still shining. But this tape right here, if it
make niggas go back in their studio.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Oh okay, facts, your your ex is still jealous?
Speaker 2 (17:25):
An not all of them, but yeah, couple of them.
It ain't no bad blood though, It just some good glock,
Like who don't own glock?
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Are you cool with any of your exes? Are you
that guy? Or you just like it's over? It's over?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
You know, I ain't like that, Like nah, I ain't pity.
It's really petty if you ain't.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
If it ain't no blood been been spilt, I can
I can forgive anybody, Okay, yeah, if it ain't, if
it ain't, no, ain't no death for londing bar, I
can forgive you.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
What would you say is a woman's biggest complain about you?
If they have to say this is the problem. I
have a key block is that he da da da
da da.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Oh, I mean different, So I don't hear different things.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
But sometimes there's some things that's well.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
One might not like the other, one might love love
the most about me because of it.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
What was somebody one person I like that someone else
would like because I would think it's time, like he
don't spend enough time with me, you know I personally
that's all right, And I don't think anyone would love that.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
I was. I was, Girl, tell me it's a red
flat because I don't.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I don't. I don't go out like other rappers. Okay,
Like what the fuck they mean?
Speaker 1 (18:49):
I could see that because I'd rather my man be
inside and not want to go out.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Like it ain't about being inside. I just ain't in
the club right basically, Yeah, but I ain't in the
house all day either, thom like I ain't fron just
be in the house cooped ough with you out I
got you could be coop.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
I gotta go get the bread. You take care of
the crib.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Okay, you like the shop though, that's it.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Yeah, that's the real thing.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Do women ever buy you things that are nice?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Because I know you're yeah yeah yeah, but it's like
it's hard to buy me shit because I got everything.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
I don't even anybody.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Auntie brought you.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Something about that boss?
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yeah, yeah, Oh my god, I don't even want to know.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Yeah, you don't say it too much. I feel like
you got to call in for tell us a secret
one day. I feel like maybe this album is it
you think it's you're gonna give, like because in your music,
we learn a lot about you from your music, not
necessarily from you telling us.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Is that a place where you feel more comfortable being able.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
To Yeah, studio like a little.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Like an audio journal, Like even if all the songs
don't come out, I just vent in the studio, like just.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Good or bad.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Have you ever done songs that you're like, oh, I
can't put this out there's too personal?
Speaker 4 (20:10):
What what? Man? Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:16):
But sometimes I make songs just fu for you, for
me to play in the car, you know, just for
like me and my bullets, like it'll never come out.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Never ever, like too raw, like back in theday, like bruggish, ruthless. Yeah,
I get canceled. Yeah, I don't need to hear none
of that.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
You don't be nervous that what if somebody leak it or.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
It can't leak it. It can't leak it. I can't
leak it.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
I'm like, I'm so organized and be on point in
control of like what I'm a part of or what's man,
I'm over overprotective.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
You're not on the cloud.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
You don't got I got cloud. I got a hard drive,
I got a backup, I got everything that is needed.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
That's so funny because I really don't.
