Speaker 3 (01:47):

Speaker 6 (01:49):
I want to shine a light on your Don is real.
He is a senior editor at Simon Schuster. He is
a black, young black man who has made a content
effort to get books made. He's doing andre three thousands books.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
He's been just doing the work to make sure that
in the world of literature, black people are seen and respected.
And I just rock with him heavy. I think what
he's doing is amazing and so much because my book
is at HarperCollins that I'm shining the light on an
editor at Simon and but y'all should know you're done.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yes, legitimate kid and to.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Even know that three thousand, that probably took a lot
of trust for him to allow somebody to do his book,
so that already speaks volumes.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
All right, Well, Tamara, who do you want to shine
a light on?
Speaker 11 (02:38):
I want to shine a lot of shine a light
on my cousin, Brianna Kilpatrick.
Speaker 9 (02:42):
Okay, she has this SEM program.
Speaker 11 (02:45):
She's an engineer for the City of New Haven. She
has this STEM program that she started for the youth
and the inner city. She's just been named the youngest
Legendary Woman by a panelist of legendary women from all
over the Fate and New Haven. And I just feel
like she's like just one of my biggest inspirations. She's
(03:06):
younger than me, but I look up to her so much.
That's amazing, so proud of her, and I just feel
like she's dealing with things going on internally, but she's
not letting it show on the outside.
Speaker 12 (03:19):
So I just want to show her.
Speaker 11 (03:20):
Out for being one of the strongest people I know.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Ah, well, that's so we'll shout out to her.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
And I love the fact that you said that she's
younger than you, but you still get inspired by her.
You can still learn a lot. And I'm sure she's
inspired by you too.
Speaker 11 (03:32):
Yes, I love her so much.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
All right, well, thank you for calling.
Speaker 11 (03:36):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (03:37):
That was Shinea Light eight hundred and two ninet two
fifty one fifty. If you couldn't get through, you could
still call us ulf and shine a light for last word.
And when we come back, we have your yet, and
let's talk about making moves. Look, Adam Rodriguez is here.
She's a comedian. We'll talk about what she has going on,
but we'll also talk about Dave Chappelle and Kevin Hart.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
And what they're doing too.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
It's way up, this say, is proof in the room
from the industry to all of gossip out angelas spilling
that et.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
It's way up at Angela.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Yee, I'm here. Mano's here. No Ada Rodriguez is.
Speaker 1 (04:10):

Speaker 5 (04:12):

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah, yeah, since twenty eighteen.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
What was it bad?
Speaker 3 (04:24):
We got her nice and quick. It was just the
stairs coming up at the end.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
But Ida, you are in town working and I just
want to let people know you're also going to be
producing some comedy specials.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
Are we allowed to say that? Okay, Yeah, I'm directing. Yeah,
I'm directing two comedy specials in December. So I'm here
on a location scout two amazing comedians I and Laura
and Monroe Martin, and we're bringing it to the city.
It's going to be amazing. They're both really great comics.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
But as we're talking about comics, Killer Mike and Dave
Chappelle are going on a hip hop and humor tour
together that is going to kick up in Detroit November fifteenth.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Yeah, that's it's gonna be amazing to go and see.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
It's called right now the still talking that Ish tour
and it's it all happened because Killer Mike said he
took Dave Chappelle to the Blue Flame after the Good Times.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
He hugs me and says we should go on tour
boom Hard and they did.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
And I just say that Killer Mike is, without knowing me,
went to this producer in Hollywood and said, you should
work with Ida, And I did a deal with this
man in Hollywood, just because Killer Mike was like, I
don't even know her, but I think you need to
know who she is. So I just want to give
him his flowers. He did my podcast, he spoke my
name in a room that I wasn't in and I
(05:37):
didn't even know him.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
That's amazing, So grateful for him. We got to go
to the tour together. Then yeah, we do all right well.
Kevin Hart and Robin Roberts Production Companies have signed on
to produce a New Orleans documentary called A King Like Me,
and the film debut in New Orleans last week. It
was honored as the opening night film at the New
Orleans Film Festival. It follows the Zulu Crew, which is
a cultural organization in Louisiana of over eight hundred black man.
(06:00):
They lost sixteen members due to COVID after Marty Grind
twenty twenty, and so the film is going to explore
the impact of the pandemic on the Zulu Crew.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
That's beautiful to hear, especially in New Orleans with all
of the laws that they have been trying to put
into effect in that state that affect us people of
color and such a black people people of color in
such an awful way. So it's good to hear that
those kings are out there still repping.

time I drink, I'm with you like that. No, no,
it's not.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
No, no, no, it's okay.
Speaker 6 (09:16):
I'm malicious, but it's like, I'm not a big drink,
but I'll drink with you every once in a while.
But I made a conscious decision to get healthy and
to lose weight and get Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
I did the same, and then I came a drink. Anyway,
The duke was good. It was It was a skirt

I tell you a good restaurant, it's called Cocos.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
I'm on the West.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
But in addition to that, we were talking about your podcast,
yes while we were out and say what you mean?
Speaker 6 (10:28):
Say what you mean? Where you go to say those
things you wish you would have said at one point
and you never did. You know how it is you
hold on to it and the perfect burn you like, dang,
I should have said this to this person. So people
have been coming on and sharing, you know, saying what I.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
Like you had Tony Baker on you had on Wheezy
from Horrible Decision.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Tiffany Hattish was on Nice All Star Lineup. But do
we have a clip? No, not yet.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Okay, we're gonna have a clip for you guys to
hear Estelle. Did it Selle that her episode airs next week? Okay,
So we want to ask you, guys, what is a
situation when you wish you would have spoken up at
the time? You know how You're like, man, I should
have said this, I should have did that. If I
could go back in time, I would say this. We
want to hear about a situation. May no, I know
normally you just say it, but this's got to be
times when you were like, yeah, definitely, all.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Right, Well we're going to talk about it.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
We want to hear yours eight hundred two nine two
fifty one fifty say what you mean? A new podcast
from Ida Rodriguez. But we want to know a time
when you wish you would have said what you meant
at that moment.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
It's way up?
Speaker 1 (11:31):
What's happy?
Speaker 9 (11:31):
You want to know?
Speaker 8 (11:32):

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Way up with Angela? Ye?
Speaker 8 (11:34):

Speaker 3 (11:37):
What's up? His way up with Angela?
Speaker 11 (11:38):
Yee?
Speaker 5 (11:38):
I'm here, Ida's here Mano's here and we're talking about
Say what you Mean. Ida Rodriguez has a podcast that
launch October first, and it's all about that time that
you wish you would have spoken up and said what
you meant. And we want to hear from you. What
is a time that you wish you would have said something?
If you could go back in time and say what
you meant at that moment, you wish you could do
(11:59):
it all right?
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Eight hundred two nine to fifty one fifty say what
you mean?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
No beg We're about to do.
Speaker 14 (12:05):
This one of the loans to train this women in
radio Vidio. We're talking about Angela. Ye, you're way up
with Angela Yee. Please believe that it's way.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Up with Angela Yee. I'm here, Mano's here, No Maya
out of Rodriguez is here.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
And we've been talking about your new podcast, Say what
you Mean, where there's those times we wish we would
have said what we meant at that moment, Mana, Is
there a time for you?
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Plenty of times it happens all the time, that happens.
Speaker 13 (12:32):
If it happened to me all my life, it happened
to me at the parole board, I wish I could
have said what I really wanted to say in now.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
But you didn't because you wanted to come home.
Speaker 13 (12:39):
And it didn't matter because they still hit me at
the board. So I should have said what I wanted
to say. Really, yeah, I should have said, man, listen, man,
you know all this is is a game.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
I don't care what y'all think. I'm innocent, even though
that wasn't true.
Speaker 15 (12:53):
May know, and then sometimes really then and then and then, look,
it happens in business sometimes like last week, you happened
when I was negotiating something and I said, all right, I'll.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Do it for this and they said all right, we
could do it, and.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
I spoke to.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Or you should have asked them first, and then you
got to get an idea. All right, Well listen, I
do want to play a piece of you want to
introduce this from Say What You Mean?
Speaker 3 (13:23):
From your podcast?
Speaker 6 (13:24):
Yeah, this is when Weezy, the host of Horrible Decisions,
made her She did her say what you mean to
the camera, and I'll let you hear it.
Speaker 7 (13:34):
I dated somebody that's mother. I don't want to get
too specific at a time period in my life, but
their mother tried to make me feel very low about
what I do for a living. I was talking about
steps on the podcast. I would have said to her,
if you had someone like me to listen to, you
would have lived a better life.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Well, she already didn't like you anyway, so you might
as well have said it right there.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
You have it.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Well, listen for you guys. Now is your opportunity to
say what you mean?
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Michelle. What's a situation where you wish you would have
said something?
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (14:07):
My god.
Speaker 12 (14:08):
So I was sitting at the gas station cham waiting
for my man to go take for the guys and
come back to pump it. Me and my daughter in
the car still and this Karen knocked on my windows
and ast me, am I gonna pump the gas yet?
So I looked at her and like awe, because how
dare you come knack on my window? And my kid
is in the back seat, and I'm just like, oh, yeah,
(14:29):
we're getting to it. And then she walked away on that,
and I was just really confused at the point. But
I wish I would have cut her out because the all.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Thats right, the audacity, or as they say, the caca.
Speaker 12 (14:43):
She did not know who she was messing with. If
I had been like not surprised, I would have definitely
got off the car.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Well what you know, yes, yeah, what would you say
say it now.
Speaker 6 (14:53):
Saying that, yeah, that's what we do. What would you say,
just take the mic and get it off your chest?
Speaker 12 (14:58):
So I would have tell her, good yall an ugly
bad joke, so away from my window for us, like
your mom put up.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
I'm glad you didn't do that with your son in
the back, but.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
I'm glad you didn't with us. Feel no right, no good.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
All right, I always listening exactly, Thank you, I thank you?
Speaker 4 (15:22):
All right.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
Well, you guys, make sure you check out Say what
you Mean Ada Roderriguez's podcast, right, and make sure you
follow Funny Ida.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
We were walking here and this guy was like funny Idem.
Speaker 6 (15:32):
That's what my mom calls me.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Funny that's her Instagram page.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
But when we come back, we have your yee tee
and we're going to talk about young thug.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
It looks like there could potentially be a mistrial.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Free that man.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
All right, it's way up.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
She's about to blow the lead ab off this pot.
Let's get it. Angela's feeling that yea te come and
get the tea.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
It's way up at Angela. Yee, I'm here, maynos here.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Yeah, you know what it is.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Funny items here.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
And it's Ai da folks Ai d a.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
All right, now let's get into some yut.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Well, Beyonce is going to be joining Kamala Harris at
a rally in Houston tomorrow. According to the Washington Post,
She'll be appearing, and they said she is also expected
to perform, according to a source who has direct knowledge
of the preparations. And again, of course she's from Houston,
so why wouldn't she You ready for that? Remember before
(16:27):
they were trying to say Beyonce was going to show
up and then it was a rumor and.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Didn't really happen.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Now she's really showing up.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
And Beyonce also just a couple of hours ago, announced
her new perfume pre order is available now at Parfume
dot beyonce dot com is called say Lumiere if anybody
wants to purchase that fo one hundred and sixty dollars.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
And I got to get into the Cologne game.
Speaker 5 (16:48):
Yes you do, all right, young thug and ya sales
racketeering case. Look it's looking like a strong possibility of
a mistrial. Now, this is the longest running trial and Georgia,
and here is what happened yesterday with the judge.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Trying to do is fix your sloppiness so that everybody
won't have wasted ten twelve months of their lives in
this trial. So I'm going to deny emotion for a
mistrial with prejudice that one. I don't believe that the
facts bear out. Would you like a mistrial without prejudice?
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Yes, So we shall see what happens.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
He mut idea.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
What's your idea?
Speaker 4 (17:32):
I don't want to put it out here. I'm gonna
tell you off the record.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Okay, Well, hopefully we'll see what happens.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
With prejudice means that the state caused the mistrial on
purpose and they aren't allowed to try again. Without prejudice
means the state gets to choose to start over if
they want, or drop charges if they want. So that's
the difference between both of those, all right. Halle Berry
has won her dispute with Olivier Martinez, her ex husband,
over co parenting therapy. So over the summers, he said
(18:00):
that he was trying to take time off from co
parenting therapy and she complained and asked the judge to
force him to go back. Well, the judge did side
with halle Berry and said that he had already complied
with her request after she took him to court over
the issue. They've been having so many problems after their divorce.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
But shout out to halle Berry for taking so much
time to invest in women and talk about things that
are uncomfortable, because she's like, her brand is doing really
well and it's just amazing to see these celebrities in
their entrepreneurialship.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
I'm trying to make money, yes, and honestly, what's wrong
with co parenting therapy too?
Speaker 3 (18:35):
He should want that also. That can only benefit right.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
But she's just had such bad luck with her baby
Daddy's like the other one kids she got, she's too,
but the model and her had a problem, and then
now with this one co parenting. I don't know her,
so I can't say no, no, I'm asking no, but
I don't know. But you know, people always blame the woman.
So I don't know, but you will want to go
to co parenting therapy and positive things?
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Right?
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Are you a kid? Come in, Holley, I'll cop with you.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
We don't have a kid with her, No, but I'll
beat a pappy of those kids, all right now.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Jennifer Lopez's ex husband, oh John is that he saying,
Ohhnney Noah, Ohanne Noah says that Diddy is to blame
for their short lived marriage. They were married for barely
a year and then they both moved on after this separation. Now.
He discussed his brief marriage during an interview with Despierta America,
and he said that part of the divorce was her fault,
(19:30):
seemingly suggesting that Diddy stole her attention away when they
collaborated on her first album. He said, when Sony came
and paid her the million she got, there was Puffy
who was going to be one of the producers of
several tracks on the first album. On the six I
was in La opening my restaurant, and she was between
Miami and New York working on the album, and that
was part of the reason that they split. So we're
not sure if she cheated at any point during their marriage,
(19:52):
but she did start a relationship with him in nineteen
ninety nine and she split with her ex in two thousand.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Liness he's blaming his split, Come on.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
I mean that everything. But you know what, nobody takes
nobody from you.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
That's I don't believe that's right anytime. Well, all right,
that is your Yet when we come back, we have.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Under the radar. These are the stories that are flying
under the radar. But you need to know about him anyway.
Of course, it's election season, so what's most important right
now is talking about what's going on and what people
are saying firsthand. And Kamala Harris had her town hall
last night. We'll talk about it. It's way up news.
Speaker 10 (20:30):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
It's way up at Angela. Yee, I'm here, Maino's here right, Rodriguez.
Speaker 11 (20:41):
Now.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
Vice President Kamala Harris had her CNN town hall last night,
and the president's race is coming over. I'm voting early
this weekend. I just want to put that out there, Okay,
So yeah, I'm getting the way. I'm definitely getting out
the way. And this was supposed to be a debate
first of all, between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. He
didn't want to do it. Then they offered them two
separate town halls. He didn't want to do that. So
(21:03):
it was just Kamala Harris yesterday, and here's what she
had to say on being different from President Joe Biden.
Speaker 16 (21:09):
My administration will not be a continuation of the Biden administration.
I bring to this role my own ideas and my
own experience. I represent a new generation of leadership on
a number of issues and believe that we have to
actually take new approaches. And I'm not going to shy
away from saying, hey, these are still problems that we
(21:30):
need to fix, all right.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Now.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Another thing that she talked about is small businesses. You know,
that's important to me. Here's what she said.
Speaker 16 (21:37):
They are the backbone of America's economy, and for too long,
we've overlooked their value to the economy as a whole,
much less to the economy of neighborhoods and communities. So
that's why my plan, and it's a new approach, is
about tax cuts for our small businesses so that they
can invest in themselves and grow and in the process
invest in communities and strengthen our economy overall.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
All right, there were a lot of different things that
she addressed last night, and I do want to say
I was with Ada yesterday and I saw it started
trending with Trump groping somebody, and there was like a
report that something was gonna come out. Well, yes, video, Yeah,
I didn't see any video, but it did say that originally.
Now a former model Stacey Williams, who is now fifty
six years old, said that Donald Trump groped her during
(22:23):
an encounter that was facilitated by Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
She shared the incident with the Guardian yesterday.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
She said she felt that Trump's actions were part of
a twisted game that he and Epstein were playing with her.
It was a Christmas party in nineteen ninety two, allegedly,
and she said it was clear to her that the
two men were really, really good friends and spent a
lot of time together, and that Jeffrey Epstein began dating
short and Jeffrey Epstein began dating shortly after the party.
A few months later, he asked to accompany him to
(22:50):
a visit to Trump Tower, and that's where she says
that Donald Trump sexually assaulted her. She says, he pulled
me into him and started groping me, and he put
his hands all over my breast, my waist, my button.
I froze and I froze because I was so deeply
confused about what was happening, because the hands were moving
all over me. Yet these two men were like smiling
at one another and continuing on their conversation, and she
(23:13):
said later on Jeffrey Epstein berated her over the groping.
She said, I felt shame and discussed as we went
our separate ways. She also has a postcard that she
says Donald Trump sent to her and said, Stacy, You're home,
away from home, loved Donald. And The Guardian did publish
images of that postcard, which has handwriting resembling Donald Trump's
as well. And of course Donald Trump's campaign is saying
(23:34):
that these accusations are fake and it was a fake
story contrived by the Harris campaign.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
That sounds like something they would do. Yeah, right, This
is what I want to say, Like, though, why do
women have to always have this preponderance of evidence to
prove that they've been assaulted? I know women lie just
like men lie, but the numbers of women who have
been assaulted are staggering, and I don't understand why there's
always this There has to be all this proof all
(23:59):
the time, Like if we innately don't believe women yet
and still they say the numbers are as high as
one out of three women are being assaulted.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
All right, well listen you guys. Well we'll talk about
this more later, but that is your under the radar.
We do have the Way Up mix at the top
of the hour, plus a special guest, doctor April Spencer
is going to be joining us. She is a breast
doctor alongside coach Jesse. She has a book called Treat It,
Beat It, Move On. It's also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
It's way up. She's like a tout like they Angela Jean,
(24:31):
like they Angela Jee.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
And she's spilling it all. This is yeat, way up.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
It's way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
I'm here, Mano's here, No Mana, my girl, Ada Rodriguez
is here. All right now, let's get into some Yet,
Cardi B canceled an upcoming performance. She was hospitalized a
few days ago due to a medical emergency. She posted
a note on her social media page. She said, I'm
so sad to share the news, but I've been in
the hospital recovering from a medical emergency the last couple
(25:01):
of days, and I won't be able to perform. And
when music fest. It breaks my heart that I won't
get to see my fans this weekend, and I really
wish I could be there. BARTI Gang, thank you for
your understanding, and I'll be back better and stronger soon.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Don't worry.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
Love y'all, man listen, sorry to hear that.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
I hope she is recovering.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
Well, I'm sure it's so hard as an artist when
you have to cancel something and you have no choice
but to do that because she's always been really professional.
But they did say they're working hard to find a
replacement and more to come soon as far as the
One Music Fest organizers. All right, Tyler the Creator has
announced his Chromacopia World Tour with special guests. So he
(25:39):
does have his new album about to come out, and
he has when I tell you, he's got a bunch
of days starting February fourth through July twenty seventh. This
is a real crazy tour and his merchant everything, his
rollout has been insane. But tickets are in sales starting tomorrow,
so get ready for that little yacht. He's going to
(25:59):
be on the tour too on some of those dates now.
Gilly the Kid recently surprised his wife and got her
an upgrade on her ring. He revealed that they're celebrating
twenty five years of marriage.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 8 (26:12):
We've been together for a long long time. When we
first got married, she was like, bab let's just get
tattoos because that's forever. And she really just said that
because you know, I ain't had a babe man, right,
So I got the money.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
Now, all right, Tody get paid off. But that's good
when you had somebody that was down with you.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
And nothing is better.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
She was ready to get a tattoo.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
And now look at that upgrade, upgrade, keep it upgrading,
all right.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Now.
Speaker 5 (26:48):
John Legend was on Club Shayshay, and there's a lot
of things in Ida. We've been talking about this, and
I want you to tell everybody what you were telling
me about jd Vance and what he's trying to do,
because John Legend was on Club Shayhay and he was
talking at a women's right to make whatever decision she
wants to make about her own body.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
And you were telling me some things that Jade Van's
was saying.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
Yeah, that there is a they want to restrict women
from traveling from state to state, so they want to
force women to have pregnancy tests before they travel so
that they can get prosecuted if they go away pregnant
and they come back not pregnant.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
That is absolutely crazy.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
How can you force and so now what restrictions are
in men there so.
Speaker 6 (27:29):
They could go do whatever they want for whatever rectile dysfunction,
you know, go get you know. And it's the thing
is is that so many women are dying and so
many women are being are really having these issues, and
people are asking you to document it. And there's documentation
of women who are dying. You heard about it when
Kamala spoke at her at her event when she did
(27:52):
the first debate. This is not just about abortion, this
is about, you know, health care for women.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Well, listen to what John Legend had to say on
club about him and Chrissy.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
My wife.
Speaker 17 (28:05):
She was well past fifteen weeks when she had to
have an abortion. She was miscarrying and bleeding out and
all these things were happening.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Her life was in danger.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Her life was in danger.
Speaker 17 (28:16):
And for the government to say the government needs to
evaluate whether you are sufficiently dying before you can have
an abortion, not your doctor, not you and your family, the.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Government, that's wild.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
The government, SHO had no power to tell a woman
what she needs to.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
Do with her right well save her life too. All right,
well listen, that is your yuet. You just want to
make sure we're always putting the real information out there.
When we come back speaking to put in the real
information out there. My girl, Ada Rodriguez, We're going to
talk to you about what you have going on and
while you're in New York and making sure that people
know all about the podcast, the book, everything you have.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
All right, it's way out.
Speaker 14 (28:54):
We about to do this one of the most famous
women in radio adio. We're talking about Angeliae Ye.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Up with Angela Ye. Please believe that it's.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Way up at Angela Yee. I'm here, My guy Maino's here.
Ida Roger guess it's here and listen that Since you're
not in New York as often as we would like,
I want to make sure people understand everything that you
have going on. Obviously, you had the Max Special Fighting Words,
and you also documented your journey going to the dr
(29:23):
and to Puerto Rico, and you're Dominican and Puerto Rican.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
I wanted to show people black people in Puerto Rico
and the Dominican Republic.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Another thing that you have right now is say what
you mean.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
That's your podcast that launched October first, and we did
some say what you mean stuff here today because there's
so many times in our lives that we wish we
could go back and say what we really meant in
that moment, and you did that because you feel like
this is healing for people.
Speaker 6 (29:47):
Yeah, a lot of people are walking around with you know, anger, frustration,
wishing they would have said something, they would have spoken
up for themselves, advocated for themselves. And I think it's
we carry it with us, and you know, we hold
on to this resentment, so come come let it out.
The biggest time. Some people need to hear certain things,
like we think we're sparing people's feelings. Sometimes you correct
(30:10):
the behavior that will keep those people from going out
into the world and being reckless.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
I feel like a lot of times I have thoughts
when people say things, and I definitely beyond hold my
tongue because you know, it's a hard thing to say,
because it's a balance because sometimes if you really say
what you meant at that moment, it could be something
that could cost you your job.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Throwing a lot of stuff away.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
Yeah, yeah, I agree.
Speaker 6 (30:37):
I think sometimes you got to take a beat, but
you got to let it out because some people hold on.
Give a beat, yeah, some people hold on. They hold
on and they're walking around mad about something that happened
in two thousand and eight, and you got to let
it out. I mean, I think you could write it out.
Some people ride it right and then they burn it.
(30:57):
You know, they'll they'll put it in the ocean. Different
ways to deal with stuff that you are harboring. But
I just think it's important to let it out right.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
Don't let it out on the person who doesn't deserve it,
because a lot of times we do let our frustrations
out on people close to us, and that's not productive
for anybody. You also have your book Legitimate Kid, which
I love. We learned so much about you from reading that.
But you know, I was kidnapped twice. But yeah, when
she was young, I was hot on them streets.
Speaker 6 (31:27):
My mother took me from my father, and then my
grandmother took me from my mother from here from the Bronto. Yeah,
and I didn't see her for like a year.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
And I hope this means that you're going to be
writing some more books coming up.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
You actually also are a best selling author. Put that
out there.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Congratulations, appreciate that, you know.
Speaker 6 (31:45):
I think that is important because we put so much
on the New York Times, but we get acknowledged in
other spaces. We put a lot of stock into certain
organizations because they have a brand or a name, but us,
say Today acknowledged my book, and you know, and the
International Association of Latino Writers also my book got two awards,
(32:06):
and I'm very grateful for that.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Man.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
I had to be pushing if y'all only knew, because
you did not only advocate for yourself, but you also
advocate for other comedians. And you're in town right now
scouting locations for some specials you're going to be directing.
Speaker 6 (32:22):
Yeah, I'm directing to comedy specials. I'm doing Ian Laara's
new special. He's doing another hour. He's actually we're selling tickets.
Go to ianlara dot com, go to his website, follow
him and Monroe Martin as well. I am directing their specials.
I'm producing as well. And you know, for me, it's
really important to show Latinos who are black and indigenous
(32:43):
because they don't get the spotlight in Hollywood so that's
always been my mission. And so to have an opportunity
to do Ian's hour after I did his half hour
for HBO, it's.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
Twice a privilege, all right, Well, listen, Adam Rodriguez is
always a friend to the show, so you know she'll
be back. And when we come back, ask ye eight
hund two ninety two fifty one fifty any advice you need.
We're here to help. These are two people who I
call when I need advice on things too. By the way,
eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty is me
out of Rodriguez and the award winning advice giving Reno.
Speaker 10 (33:13):
Okay, everybody six with its relationship for career advice, Angela's
dropping facts.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
You should you should know if this is asked, what's up?
Speaker 15 (33:21):
Is?
Speaker 3 (33:21):
But Angela? Gee, I'm here, The award winning advice giving
Mano is here.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Lord winning and funny Ida Outa Rodriguez's here, and it's
time for asking me.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
We have Claire on the line.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
Hey Claire, ha, Hi, what's your question today?
Speaker 12 (33:38):
So I have a problem. My friend owes me money
and we started day that he would be giving me
returning the money she borrowed from me.
Speaker 18 (33:50):
But she hasn't returned anything.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
How much is it?
Speaker 7 (33:54):
Then?
Speaker 1 (33:54):
On top it's five hundred dollars?
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Five hundred dollars.
Speaker 13 (33:58):
Listen, Claire, I'm gonna be one hundred percent saying honest,
five hundred dollars is a lot of money.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
You should pull up on her and slap her.
Speaker 6 (34:04):
No, No, I don't want to do that.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
That's what you're going to say. On top of it?
What else?
Speaker 12 (34:11):
I've been calling her, texting her, She's been dodging me
and I can't get in contact with her. But she's
toasting on Instagram all.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
Socials, do you have an address?
Speaker 11 (34:23):
I do?
Speaker 9 (34:23):
Got her address?
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Have you left a comment on her pace?
Speaker 5 (34:26):
Like, hey, sis, been trying to track you down to
get my money back.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
Lol.
Speaker 12 (34:30):
I don't want to put her blow.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
She took your money, though, you need to straighten her out.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
You putting her home blast right now? I'm sure she
knows your voice.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Her name again?
Speaker 12 (34:40):
Oh, my friend's name, JASMINEE.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
I think I know her. No, I'm kidding. Honestly, it
is important for you to get your money back.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
And you know they always tell you don't land money
unless you can afford to lose it because a lot
of times people don't pay the money back.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
How long is the truth? That's what they said. How
long have you all been friends?
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Only a few months?
Speaker 4 (35:01):
You definitely need to get get with her.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Yeah, she got you girls got scammed. Yeah, I'm not blocky.
Speaker 6 (35:08):
I might just have to her.
Speaker 9 (35:10):
You should.
Speaker 12 (35:10):
Yeah, you might get a call from me in jail.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
You're gonna be in the hole for more than five
hundred dollars after that.
Speaker 6 (35:17):
She's not gonna bail you.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
You gotta do what you gotta do. Say what you mean,
You gotta do what you want.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Do you have friends in common?
Speaker 11 (35:25):
We do not know.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
All right, Well, okay, it is time for you to
put it on the blast. I would definitely be on
her page saying, you know, leaving those comments, and I
definitely would try to find her in person and be
like this, what's going on with the money.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
I need my money back?
Speaker 12 (35:38):
Yeah, give me money is coming up?
Speaker 13 (35:45):
Yeah, this is why you need to get next week
introduced to the palm on his five daughters.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
All right, but sometimes you also have to come to
terms with it's so hard to get people to pay
you back your money.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Sometimes you got to You got it, though, I hope, So,
I hope.
Speaker 6 (36:00):
So my stepfather will saying you just paid five hundred
dollars to get rid of the worst person that you
could possibly know.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
It was cheat, all right, you get rid of them
all Yeah.
Speaker 6 (36:10):
This is my la.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
All right, Claire, thank you for calling. Good luck, thank you. Yeah,
she's not getting that money back.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
And I did it again.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
It's sober. She's not getting that money back. All right.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
Well that was ask ye eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty in case you couldn't get through. And
when we come back, we have doctor April Spencer, she's
a breast doctor, as well as coach Jesse joining us.
We'll were talking about breast cancer awareness. It is Breast
Cancer Awareness Month and we have honestly some amazing, amazing
information in facts. We're talking about myths when it comes
(36:41):
to breast cancer, all of the things that we need
to know.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
It's way up.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
This is way up with Angela. Y let's go. You
are a media maven, right.
Speaker 17 (36:50):
You never know what Ange's gonna say.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
What's up as way up with Angela?
Speaker 2 (36:54):
Yee.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
I'm here and of course my girl coach Jesse is
here with me.
Speaker 19 (36:58):
Hey, I'm so excited to be here with you today.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
Yes, and you have a friend, a friend who's going
to be a friend to the show permanently.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Doctor April Spencer is here with us.
Speaker 18 (37:07):
Nis so happy to be here.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
Now, you are a breast surgeon, and we want to
talk today about prevention, about early detection, and all about
myth busting as well.
Speaker 19 (37:17):
Absolutely, Black women die from breast cancer more than any
other ethnic group because we are diagnosed at leader stages.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
And that's by all of these conversations about making sure
that you get screened earlier and early detection is such
an important conversation.
Speaker 16 (37:31):
It is.
Speaker 11 (37:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (37:32):
But one of the things that we're seeing right now,
Angela is there's this alarming study that recently came out
by the American Cancer Society highlighting an increase in cancer
in general, but particularly breast cancer and young women. And
I've been doing breast surgery for over twenty years and
i have never seen anything like it. Like I've diagnosed
several women just last week in their thirties. Wow, we
advanced breast cancer stage three, stage fours, and so we
(37:56):
definitely take a deep dive into that. And I certainly
took a deep dive book about the rise and cancer
among the youth.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Because move on one of the key things children.
Speaker 19 (38:06):
When you talk about early detection, there's studies, they're not studies.
There are people who are saying that you shouldn't do
them radiation because they're saying the.
Speaker 6 (38:14):
Exposure to radiation. That's one of the myths.
Speaker 19 (38:17):
I wanted us to bust here, okay, because that was
one of the things that Ananda actually was concerned about,
and it is critical to early detection.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
A lot of those studies, number one, are its old data.
Speaker 18 (38:27):
Even some of the current studies don't take into consideration
the new technology. So we actually get more radiation flying
from New York City to LA than we do getting
a mammogram, And so people need to understand that we
have more exposure micro exposures just walking around than you
would in a mammogram. You know, from a clinical standpoint,
(38:48):
there are risks to everything we do.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
In not getting one exactly, that's.
Speaker 18 (38:54):
The benefit far out weighs the risks because the bottom
line is early detection still means better protection when it
comes to getting screened.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
Right now, I'm a code to Jesse and we are
talking to doctor April Spencer, it is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
What is the age now that they're saying, And then
I also know that's an issue right there, right what
is the age now that you should be getting a mammogram?
And also people talk about family history, but it is
possible to have breast cancer and not have a family
history of it.
Speaker 6 (39:23):
Yeah, yeah, And that.
Speaker 18 (39:24):
Is one of the challenges because the screening mammogram age
is currently forty. However, because we're seeing an increasing rate
among the young, a lot of them are not even
at screening age yet when they are diagnosed with breast cancer.
The young lady that I saw, you know, just a
few days ago, she hadn't gotten screen She just had
a breast concern or concern underneath her arm and she
(39:44):
just kind of overlooked it because it wasn't in her
breast and she hadn't got screened because of her age
being under forty. So I always share with my young
patients that if you see something, say something, if you
have a concern, let someone know. We are obligated to
order imaging, and the insurance companies are obligated to the
temporary and in getting to the family history. Most women
(40:06):
that are diagnosed with breast cancer don't have a family
history oct but.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
It is so.
Speaker 18 (40:11):
But it's important that we talk about family histories so
you can bring it up with your doctor and they
can get prompted.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
And then can also get breast cancer too.
Speaker 18 (40:17):
Yes, yes, I did a messtec to you, older man
two fridays ago.
Speaker 5 (40:21):
All right, doctor April Spencer is here and Coach Jesse
is here, and they are a wealth of information. You guys,
we got to make sure we take care of ourselves
in early detection is always key.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
We have more with them when we come back. It's
way up.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
Oh you way up with Angela Yee?
Speaker 5 (40:37):
More now what's up as way up with Angela Yee.
I'm here, Coach Jesse is here, and doctor April Spencer,
she is a breast surgeon, is here with us, and
right now we are talking about Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Speaker 4 (40:48):
Now.
Speaker 5 (40:48):
One thing that can be a deterrent is the cost
when it comes to insurance and health insurance. So, doctor
April Spencer, what advice would you give when it comes
to that.
Speaker 18 (40:57):
If you do have insurance, they need to make sure
they cover the doctor that's in their network and they'll
cover certain tests. But every breast center, major breast center
has what we call a nurse navigator, and that is
the person that will literally help you navigate the weeds
of even the financial piece. So if you have a
lump in your breast, if you have nipple discharge, you
(41:17):
have breast concerns, you can get emergency breast medicaid so
you don't have to feel like, you know, I had
to patiend this the first thing she said when I
mentioned to her that she was diagnosed with breast cancers,
and she started crying and she said, I'm just trying
to figure out how I'm going to afford this, and
so finances are very much on people's minds. So I'm
glad you mentioned that their grants for it. So you
(41:39):
just ask yeah information, So if you have something going on.
For those who are listening, make sure you schedule your mammogram.
Before you go back to get your mammogram done, you're
checking in, say hey, I really need to speak to
the nurse navigator about this being a self paid A
lot of people don't know that the self paid charge
is not the same as what we would charge insurance.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
It's usually it's just a fraction of.
Speaker 18 (42:01):
The cost like one hundred dollars versus let's say five
hundred dollars, right, But if you don't know that, you
can't necessarily be your advocate. So this is kind of
what we can do in terms of the youth, and
this is a big problem. We have one point four
percent increase in the last ten years year over year
with the younger women in their twenties, third and fourth
and those so those that are uninsured or uninsured, but
(42:22):
their resources out there, so.
Speaker 19 (42:23):
Teching things that they can also do which they're not
going to, like no smoking and as well as drinking alcohol.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
Right now, I'm a code to Jesse and we are
talking to doctor April Spencer. It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
What are your ABC's A breast cancer prevention A is.
Speaker 18 (42:39):
Just being aware of your anatomy. Now, the B is
your behavior. Your behavior is just making sure that you
are more active. The C is your consumer choices. Choose
things that are healthy, like your anti inflammatories, which she's
a huge opponent of, you're vitamin D. The other thing
is your colinary choices. And so one of those is
a Mediterranean lifestyle, just adding more fresh fish, adding anti
(43:03):
more Yes, so you got to your omega threes, your
vega six, your unsaturated fat that is data proven to
increase your longevity. So we're not suggesting that you'll never
get cancer, you'll never get disease, but while you're here,
so you can live longer, you can live stronger, and
so when you are affected by disease, your body can
handle it a whole lot better.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
Oh, this has been an amazing conversation.
Speaker 19 (43:26):
And you know, and as we approach this gift giving season,
you always got something for our way up people. Yes,
So what we want to do with the Detox Now
is actually we're giving you guys a twenty five dollars
gift card at the Detox Now to share your thoughts
on how we can make things better for you to
just take our like two minute survey. So just go
(43:47):
to the Detox noow dot com, get your twenty five
dollars gift card and shot that.
Speaker 5 (43:52):
And you also have your Just Breast vitamins that you
came up with as well, that you created.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
It's a supplement, so just give us some in that.
Oh yeah, so I'm very proud of it.
Speaker 18 (44:02):
It's backed by science and the Just Breast vitamin is
just one pill and it reduces the inflammation and the
body reduces your overall body fat. It has a beauty component,
so it supports your hair, nails, and skin and robust
immune boosting. And I purposefully exclude anything that may interact
with any of your medication. No vitamin is ac and
(44:24):
E because that can make your treatment regiment less effective.
Speaker 5 (44:28):
To get it done right well and close Jesse to
people who I trust. I appreciate you guys, don't for
taking the time today. This is such a great and
important conversation.

to Jesse and doctor April Spencer. It is Breast Cancer
Awareness Month. Make sure you'll watch that full interview on
(45:52):
Way Up with Ye And remember you guys, say what
you mean at the time, right unless yes.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
Say what do you mean and mean what you say?
That's important.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
That's a great second part to it because sometimes you
say things you don't mean in the heat of the moment.
Speaker 6 (46:06):
But think about it before you say it. Yeah you know,
or say it?
Speaker 3 (46:09):
Say it?
Speaker 4 (46:09):
Say it?
Speaker 6 (46:10):
Oh, come do it?
Speaker 3 (46:11):
On the podcast all right or say it right now
in the last.
Speaker 9 (46:13):
Word, anyway up with times to love. The one thing
I wish I could go back in time and change
would be to say yes to them jokers. I'm married. Yes,
husband one and Husband two, which are now one. Then
I wish I could go back and say no.
Speaker 8 (46:29):
I wish I.
Speaker 9 (46:30):
Could go back to nineteen ninety one of March when
my ex husband asked me to marry him.
Speaker 13 (46:36):
Wish I could go back to bath Hill going way
Out turn Out with Angela Yee
