Speaker 1 (00:01):
You are now.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
What I call her?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Ye?

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Yeah, what's good? Yes, Happy Friday. It's way up with Angela.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yee.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I'm here. My producer Dan is here.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
Good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
You only got like a couple of weeks to your wedding.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
I know how you feel. You feel different.

Speaker 5 (00:25):
I'm excited for the wedding, but it is a three
day wedding, so it is a lot to plan, extremely stressful.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Oh well, which is glad you're still at work. And today,
for now, we got Angela Oakley joining us. That's Charles
Oakley's wife. She's on Real Housewives of Atlanta. This is
her first season, y'all, so you know we're gonna find
out what she has going on. But this is also
her first ever interview ever ever, so it's a big deal. Okay. Also,
we have London Brown joining us, and I know you

(00:51):
guys have been watching Raisin Cannon that is my show.
This is not his first time in the rodeo, so
get ready for that. We have all of that happening,
and of course we're going to a light when we
come back. Eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one
fifty Call us up, let us know who you want
to spread some love to who do you want to
shine a light on? It's way up.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I'm shine, I'm shine.

Speaker 6 (01:10):
Turn your lights on, y'all lights spreading love to those
who are doing greatness.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Shine a light on, shine a light on.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
It's time to shine a light on what's.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Up his way up at Angela Ye, and it's time
to shine a light. And today I want to shine
a light on somebody who y'all all know. Michael Jordan.
Now he has opened his fourth free medical clinic for
the underprivileged. It's located in North Carolina. He's partnering with
healthcare company Novent Health to offer underinsured and uninsured people
healthcare services in his hometown. The clinic opened on February nineteenth.

(01:45):
It's the second one that Michael Jordan financed in Wilmington,
which is a small town in North Carolina. He also
had two medical clinics in Charlotte. And so love that
he's doing things whatever he can to help people, because
we all know those health bills are no joke. All right, Well, now,
who do you guys want to spend some left to?
Who do you want to shine a light on? Eight
hundred and two, nineteen fifty one fifty Anita, who do

(02:05):
you want to shine a light on?

Speaker 7 (02:07):
My daughter called in the other day. Her name is
Eliah and she shined the light on me, and I
thought that was very nice for her to do. But
I wanted to call in and sign the light on
my daughters as well, because I lost my daughter in
twenty eighteen. She died by suicide. And we decided to
start a scholarship for mental health for students that are

(02:28):
graduating high school that are transitioning into adulthood, so that
they would be able to understand that mental health is
important and that we want them to know that they're
support out there for them because we don't have a
lot of that within our community. The scholarship is in
the high schools in Allantown, Pennsylvania, which my daughter graduated.
Her name is a Ts. She graduated from Derath and

(02:49):
that's where the scholarships are, Derris and Allan High School.
So I just wanted to make that out as well.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Because your daughter, Aliah called to show you some less
information about the scholarship. What can they look up?

Speaker 7 (03:02):
We do it to like Facebook, so social media they
can reach out to my faithbook. My daughter she's out there.
Anya Ramsour, we have Alea Rich, we have a Brianna
Ashburn and alah Anita Rich. So you can just look
us up and you'll see information regarding the scholarship.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Well, thank you so much for Colin. It sounds like
you have a really strong family. So I appreciate you
and the work that you're doing in paying us forward.

Speaker 7 (03:28):
Yes, thank you so much, and we appreciate you as well,
and thank you for allowing us this opportunity.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Absolutely, thank you you too. That was Shina Light eight
hundred and two ninety two, fifty one to fifty. If
you couldn't get through, you can always leave a message
and shine a light that way. For last word, and
when we come back, I already told you from Real
Housewives of Atlanta, Angela Oakley is going to be joining us.
This is her first ever interview. We'll get some insight
as to what was going on with her. Wig on

(03:54):
that first episode is way up, Hello ladies.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
When they ask what you bring to the table, tell
them you off the table. Up with Angela Yee celebrating
the ladies doing women's his three months.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
What's ups? Way up at Angela Yee And we got
another Angela in the building. Angela Oakley is here.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Hello, Hello, Angela, he.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Love, Welcome to the show, and welcome to Real Housewives
of Atlanta. How you feeling.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
I'm here a little exhausted, but I'm here. I made it.
I just want to say congratulations on your own show.
You are here making an Angela's look good.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
I like this.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
See we're two episodes in. How do you feel.

Speaker 8 (04:32):
I'm excited about the season. I'm excited for the people
to get to know me.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
You know, I have some issues, but I know sometimes,
like look, clearly, you guys are filming for days and days,
and what makes it to the TV sometimes it's not
the full story of what happened behind the scenes. So
I just want to make sure.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
I don't know if that's the case.

Speaker 8 (04:53):
That was my first, you know, time filming, and that
was my first time wearing a weird if that's what
we're talking talking about? Oh what? Oh?

Speaker 1 (05:02):
When am I saying that?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
But okay, so let's talk about the wig. So I
wasn't even addressing that.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Oh okay, let's talk about this wig. Get it out
the way.

Speaker 8 (05:11):
You know, this was my first time ever wearing a wig,
and I'm like, so, okay. I was advised by my
hairstyle was like, you know, we're a wig.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
All the girls do it. They want to protect their hair.
I was like, okay, cool.

Speaker 8 (05:24):
I was hot when he put the wig on, so
I'm like, all cool, daw. I don't know what made
me think I'll cool down once the wig is glue
down and I go out in eighty ninety degree temperature.
But as soon as I got out the car, I
was like, this is.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Not gonna be good.

Speaker 8 (05:37):
I could just feel the sweat bubbling up, and I
was just like, Lord, not today.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
What an entrance?

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah? Yes, an interest was made for sure.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Right now, I'm talking to Angela Oakley, wife of Charles Oakley,
but also a new cast member from Real Housewives of
Atlanta and so on this show your Friends Withdrew, and
you said that Shamia is Porsha's lap dog? Yeah? Right?
Do you still feel that way now?

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I do?

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Okay, I do.

Speaker 8 (06:08):
And I felt that way then because Drew took a
lot of heat in that first episode and I was
just helpless because I was like, I can't take on
anybody with my.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Wig like I had. I can't have her own thing.

Speaker 8 (06:25):
And Drew I'm sending smoke signals like I'm with you,
I'm with you, but I just can't say anything.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
I just felt like, you know, she was a bit
double team.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
So it made it seem like Jude did it in
a sneakier kind of way, because I can't tell if
she did tell Porsha ahead of time where it didn't, like,
it's not really clear.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
To my understanding.

Speaker 8 (06:43):
Porscha was aware they were working together. Dennis invited her
to her birthday party. Porsche was aware, you know when
she was aware.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I don't know when she became aware. I'm not familiar
with that. I don't know when exactly, but she knew.

Speaker 8 (06:56):
And then Porscha's she kept kicking the can down. I
was like, okay, so what are you mad? Are you
mad about how working with Dennis? Are you mad about
this photo shoot? I was just lost, right, yeahs happening.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
We're like, can we do this another day?

Speaker 9 (07:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (07:11):
I checked out at that point.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Angela Oakley is here, y'all. It's her first ever interview
on the first time she's been on TV on Real
Housewives of Atlanta. We have more with her when we
come back. It's way up, ladies.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
When they ask what you bring to the table. Tell
them you brought the table. We up with Angela Yee
celebrating the ladies doing Women's History Month.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
What's up? Its way up with Angela Yee. I'm here
with another Angela, Angela Oakley, wife of Charles Oakley but
also cast member on Real Housewives of Atlanta. Now, you
guys have an interesting story about how y'all even met. Yeah,
because before he got your number and then you didn't
even see him or connect with him until ten years
after that.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
We met at a party in Chicago and we exchanged numbers.

Speaker 8 (07:52):
We spoke for a little bit on the phone, but
I didn't hear from him again ten years later when
I found him. But yeah, I was just like, hey,
how you doing? And he took an interest a strong
interesting Do.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
You remember like that?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
You know you know what I'm like.

Speaker 8 (08:05):
Don't get your phone records from AT and D from
ten years ago.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
You'll see why number it happened. So that was just
a mess.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
No, so y'all were neighbors. Is that awkward dating somebody
who's living right there, because sometimes people say that's a no.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
No, it was awkward, But you know, I.

Speaker 8 (08:22):
Have people assisting me and keeping him in check, you know,
the ballet, the concierge, you know, just people assisting me
and making.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Sure that he's dealing with me and me only.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Oh okay, well you a man when you first started
dating it, people are always dealing with other You probably
were dealing with other people too, because when this.

Speaker 8 (08:42):
Is Charles Oakley, they're now fifty years of being single.
You're right, yeah, I'm not hiding that at all, but
I think A loaded him down a lot.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Right now, I'm talking to Angela Oakley, wife of Charles
Oakley but also a new cast member from Real Housewives
of Atlanta. What was that engagement like and how did
that happen?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
The marriage? Or it was like okay, you want this life?
Or do you want this life?

Speaker 8 (09:06):
It's like I want this which was me and Mary
life and all of that and not I thought, I
want to fly every other week and I'm outside, and
so he was just like I'm ready, Like let's go now.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
I only got to be Bridezilla for one day.

Speaker 8 (09:22):
There was no long planning, it was nothing of the sort,
and we just flew.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
To Vegas the next day.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Are you kidding me? That's how it happened.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yes, and we've been together ten years.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
So before you did that, how long were you guys
dating a year and a half. That's not crazy at all.

Speaker 8 (09:37):
It's not like, oh we met no, no, yeah, we
got to know each other and we got married.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Now, who surprised you the most once you joined the show? Like,
as far as I thought this person was gonna be cool, but.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
All of the ladies were good.

Speaker 8 (09:51):
But the first few episodes, I thought Shmiya would be cool.
You know, I thought she would be you know, my person.
She's a tourist, you know, I thought her and I
would immediately hit it all.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Okay, I mean it could also be the because you
are close with you, because people do have alliances.

Speaker 8 (10:06):
Yeah, but I don't move like that. I don't not
like you because that person doesn't like you. I give
you a chance for myself because it could be a
misunderstanding between those people.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
So because you also thought like you was being treated unfairly,
Oh yeah, yeah, that was a bit march. All right, Well, guys,
make sure you check out and support Angela Oakley on
her journey on Real Housewives of Atlanta this season. And
I promise you she's gonna be checking back in. Oh well,
thank you all right, well, thank you so much to
Angela Oakley for coming through. And when we come back,
tell us a secret. Eight hundred two nine two fifty

(10:38):
one fifty. It's a Friday. Tell us your deepest, darkest secret.
You're anonymous, and it's a no judgment zone. It's way up,
oh way up.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
This is a judgment free zone. Tell us a secret.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
What's up? Its way up at Angela yee and happy Friday.
And Friday also means tell us a secret. Eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty. You know the deal.
It is a no judgment zone and you get to
stay anonymous. What's up Anonymous?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Call it?

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Tell us a secret.

Speaker 10 (11:03):
This is many many moons ago. But I moved out
of state and you know, met a few people and
we became friends. One of the people that I was acquaintance,
one of their friends got into some you know, some beat.
They had no ride, so I accompanied them to you know,
pick up the friends to make sure he was safe
and sound. And unfortunately, one of the ones that I
knew had a weapon on them. Unfortunately we all got caught.

(11:26):
And because it was my vehicle, of course, I took
the blame because it was my car. The person that
was a friend of mine didn't take responsibility, let me
fall for it. So about a year after I came
out of jail and everything, I became acquainted with their
family and decided to get revenge. I started dating his
brother and I ended up putting his brother in jail
for a long time.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Oh my gosh, poor brother had nothing to do with anything.

Speaker 10 (11:50):
Okay, listen, he took me away from my kids. The
brother knew about it, didn't tell him. Yo, you know
this is a female.

Speaker 7 (11:58):
It was just, you know, take it to sail.

Speaker 10 (12:00):
They let me, They let me do my.

Speaker 11 (12:02):
Thing, A waste my kids, So it's only right.

Speaker 10 (12:04):
I told him to you let me rot. You won't pay.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Well, I'm sorry that that happened to you, but this
is all because you also took the responsibility and you
wouldn't tell whose it was.

Speaker 10 (12:14):
Of course not. But I also didn't know that he
had the weapon. Hence I would have knew I would
have took him. My assumption was we were going to.

Speaker 9 (12:20):
Go pick up the friend because he got jumped.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Yeah, that's messed up. That happen and you were seven
of us, do you believe in karma though.

Speaker 10 (12:28):
Oh absolutely to believe in kara. That's why his brother
did that long as zooke.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Yes, damn, I just feel like the brother didn't do anything.

Speaker 10 (12:36):
Your brother had all the influence on the other brothers
to tell him. Yo, she went over there.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
You knew.

Speaker 10 (12:41):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 9 (12:42):
We kept telling him, now, just be quiet, you know fire, Okay,
you decided to get involved and tell him to stay
quiet so that his sentence would be lesser because that
was a female. That was the first time I got arrested,
so I wasn't gonna get some that much time I
was away from my kids.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Yeah, that's paying for Well, welcome home for first of all.

Speaker 10 (13:01):
Many many months ago.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
And I'm I'm glad you made it through. I'm glad
you learned your lesson. But hopefully they don't ever try
to get revenge on you.

Speaker 10 (13:09):
Trust me, they tried many many times.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
But I'm a good girl.

Speaker 10 (13:12):
Like I said, I want to do them.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
The favor that was tell us a secret eight hundred
and two nine two fifty one fifty. If you couldn't
get through, leave a message. Tell it's a secret, don't
chicken out, and when we come back. We have your yet,
and Tamar Braxton is saying that she is taking HIV
prevention medication. That's prep and will tell you why. It's
way up the lid, ab off this bot.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Let's get it.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
Oh yeah, Angelus feeling that yet, Come and get the tea.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
What's up his way up at Angela yee And it's
time for your yee t You ready, Dan, Let's do
it first. I want to shout out to our girl.
GG maguire from Lip Service Stars has acquired the documentaries
about Magic City. That's the strip club we're actually Gigi
used to work. She was part of the infamous snack pack.
It's called Magic City, an American fantasy. Jamaine Dupre posted

(13:59):
about it and so did DG so it'll be on
Stars this summer. She posted My life change the first
time I stepped foot in this building twenty years later
is happening again. Can't wait for the world to see
this amazing project. I'm so grateful. My name is in
the credits, y'all. Magic City. Shout out to you, Gg,
Shout out to gig Listen. She works so hard on
this and it takes such a long time to go

(14:20):
from when you first start filming, so when it finally,
finally is available for everybody to see, she's.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
Been holding the secret for a long time.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
You know, shout out to her. Congratulations for that, all right,
And another congratulations is in order for Sherry. Her daytime
talk show has been renewed for US season four. Here's
what she had to say. The Chery show has been
renewed for the show. I'm so glad y'all told me
and warn me.

Speaker 8 (14:45):
About that confetti cannon, because the last time we got
renewed that confetti cannon it went off.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
It scared me so bad. I cursed. Everybody on this
show knows Cherry's bladder ages as well. And I do
want to say that I see people saying, you know,
Wendy Williams, by the way, is able to now live
in an apartment and not have those same restrictions. And
people keep on saying like, oh bye Sherry in the comments,
which is so rude, Like Shery's got a successful show also, yeah, yeah,

(15:13):
make sure we keep on showing our hair love and
supporting her too.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
And even if Wendy did come back, they still yeah,
that's crazy, all right.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
And Tamar Braxton, she is talking about how crazy it
is outside. Dan, you're getting married. You should be happy
that you don't have to be outside.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Don't worry about any of this.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
You don't have to worry about any of these things.
She said. She's taking HIV prevention medication. She's taking PREP.
Here's what she said. All of y'all is dating the
same dude. And I'm Sherry my man with the street.
Although I'm on PREP, and I will tell everybody to
get on PREP because prepare yourself. All right, Well, do
what you gotta do, girl, I'm not mad at it.

(15:51):
Protect yourself at all costs.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
That's a little extreme.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I mean, look, I will say that if you know
that you are potentially could be exposed to something, you know,
I can't tell you what to do and what not
to do. I see people in a commas saying same.
You just wrap it up, you can, But that is
not fool proof. I've heard people say you'd rather be
preventative than not worry about it at all. You know,

(16:15):
sometimes we get vaccinated from things. We could say the
same thing. So this is just something that's preventative. I'm
not mad at it. Whatever. For whatever reason she wants
to do that, do it all right, Well that is
your yet and when we come back, we have under
the radar. These are the stories that are not necessarily
in the headlines. They're flying under the radar, but you
need to know about them. It's way up.

Speaker 6 (16:33):
We got news this in the news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
What's up his way up at Angela yee and it's
time for your under the radar story on a Friday. Now,
I saw this one circulating yesterday. So a guy was
in Houston. His name is Dion Chico Young. He was
at the Family Dollar and he overheard one of the
employees talking to another customer in Spanish saying that black
people only come in to steal. Shoot. What she did

(17:01):
not know is that Dion she Go Young also speaks Spanish.
As you can hear him say, he is Kubano. Even
though he's black. He is a black Cuban. He's at
fro a Latin. You know, here's what happened when he
revealed that he understood what she was saying.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
May you got to watch what you say when you
say it, because this one just what I'm saying, because
you don't know who speaks Spanish Spanish thinking people.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Don't understand it is well. This video went viral on
TikTok and Family Dollar has since apologized and told him
that the employee will be fired. I love that, don't
you love that? For him amazing And she sounded so
stupid and dumb and was like, don't record, don't record me,
I will do whatever. I went, okay, because you were
talking crazy, not knowing that I could speak Spanish. That

(17:45):
is so dumb.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
You have that same energy.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
And let me tell y'all now that there's all these
apps where you can translate what people are saying. If
you're ever somewhere and you feel like people are talking
crazy about you, no matter where you are, the nail salon,
she just gonna say, hey, salon wherever, go ahead and
translate and be like bam in your face. All right, well,
that is your under the radar. And later on we'll
be talking to London Brown, you know him as Uncle

(18:08):
Marvin from Raising canaan hilarious character and it feels like
he's got a lot going on this season so far.
We'll talk to him about that, and of course we
have the way it mixed for you guys at the
top of the hour on a Friday, or as we
call it, Fridayay. It's way up like they.

Speaker 6 (18:21):
Angelie Jean, like they and Ngelie Jean, and she's spilling
it all.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
This is yet way up.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
What's up? His way up? At Angela yee? And it's
time for you're ye te man. This is sad Quinta
Brunson from Avid Elementary, the creator and star of it,
has filed four divorce from her husband's citing aerorconsolable differences.
They do have a post nuptal agreement, so they want
to divvy up the property according to that agreement. So
she got engaged in July of twenty twenty. They got

(18:51):
married in twenty twenty one. We don't know much about
their relationship, but we do know that her husband was
a sales manager. She did him during an acceptance speech
for winning an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy
Series for Avid Elementary Man. Well, Dan, you're getting married.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
Don't put that energy out.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
I'm not I'm saying you're getting married. There's always still love,
you know. It always goes down like that. And Samuel L.
Jackson was talking to Vanity Fair. They were celebrating Bruce
Willis's seventieth birthday, and he talked about a piece of
career advice that Bruce Willis gave him that he felt
was very useful. They first start together in the third

(19:29):
Diehard movie back in nineteen ninety five. That movie made
three hundred and sixty six million dollars worldwide, and he
told them, hopefully you'll be able to find a character
that when you make bad movies and they don't make
any money, you can always go back to this character
everybody loves. He said, Arnold's got Terminator, so Vessa's got
Rocky and Ramble, I've got John McClain. And he said,
I'm okay. And it didn't occur to me until I

(19:50):
got that Nick Fury roll and I had a nine
picture deal to be Nick Fury that, oh, I'm doing
what Bruce said, I've got this character. Now. That's dope advice. Yeah,
and something I never would have even thought about.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
One legend to another, all.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Right, and Jeezy is saying that he wants his ex wife,
Jeanie Myi to pay the twenty thousand dollars in legal
bills that he had to pay while he was fighting
her frivolous actions. According to in Touch, he asked the
court for attorney fees after she accused him of being
in contempt. Back in September of twenty twenty four. She
made these accusations and said that he failed to follow

(20:24):
the terms of their deal. And now he is saying, look,
this was frivolous, and now you got to pay me
and pay those twenty thousand dollars in fees. I mean,
if it was frivolous and I have to pay to
defend myself again, something I do think the other person
should pay. What do you think, Yeah, I because people
can't just be filing things and then if I win,

(20:45):
now you gotta pay me because I had to spend
money just.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
The man always gets screwed over in the divorce.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah, well he's asking for money, I know.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Yeah, because he's getting screwed over in the divorce.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
All right, Well that is your yet And when we
come back, it's a Friday, so you know what that means,
New music Friday. We'll talk about what you should be
looking out for and listening to is way up.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
Thank everybody sence, whether it's relationship or career advice. Angela's
dropping facts.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
So you should you should know.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
This is ASD.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
What's up? As way up with Angela?

Speaker 5 (21:13):
Yee?

Speaker 3 (21:13):
I'm Angela ye, and it's time for ask ye eight
hundred and two ninety fifty one fifty is a number.
Any question you have, we are here to help you out,
and today we haven't asked you a question from the voicemail.
Here is that question.

Speaker 11 (21:25):
Hi, Angela, my preschool lur came home with a note
saying that her teacher is hosting a number party at
their house. I just want to know how should I
go about responding to this teacher do letting them know
that these implications are incorporate.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
I think that this is something that should be brought
to the school's attention. I don't think that teachers should
be hosting sleepovers. And it's interesting because somebody who works
here said they did go to a slumber party.

Speaker 8 (22:01):
Dan.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
That would be our producer, Dan, when you were in
what grade?

Speaker 4 (22:04):
I think this was like fifth grade something like that.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
All right, and this is pre cool. Yeah, No, I
was in elementary school when this happened, right, And you
did go to a sleepover. I did how many kids
were in your class?

Speaker 4 (22:15):
There was well over twenty. I don't remember how many
kids were there, but it was both boys and girls.
It was really just pizza in a movie and like
sleeping bags on the floor.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Right.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
I'm sure that my mom or dad spoke to some
of my friend's parents, but in hindsight, like hearing this
voicemail and then thinking about, like my experience graded, like
nothing happened when I went, But that's not cool, Like
that's not okay by any means.

Speaker 10 (22:38):
You know.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
I'm thinking about my elementary school, and we did have
one teacher that ended up going to jail for molesting boys,
and he used to have some of the kids come
to his house, the boys come help move furniture. And
mind you, this is in elementary school. Like what little
kids are helping you move furniture? And so I just
think that that's inappropriate. And I can see that in

(22:59):
some situation. It's like if it's a small town and
the kids all are like know each other, But preschool
is also kind of young for them to be able
to voice if something should happen. And even for myself,
my parents will let people sleep over my house, but
I never really was allowed to sleep over anybody's house.
And so it feels like you as a protective parent
as you should be feel like there's an issue with this,

(23:20):
and if you feel like there's an issue, you should
definitely address that issue. I would talk to the teacher
and I would even talk to an authority figure at
the school about how inappropriate something like this is, you know,
and even like talking to some of the other parents
is something that I would do. But you know, if
you feel like there's a cause for our alarm, there is.
If that's how you fail, all right, And that would

(23:41):
be my advice because this it just seems very strange,
especially in this day and age, you know, to not
realize that that's inappropriate. But that is ask ye eight
hundred two nine two fifty one to fifty if you
couldn't get through. And when we come back, I feel
like we need to ask London Brown comment section because
he is always going live and talking about his views

(24:02):
on things and he's hilarious. He's also a comedian, but
he's also an actor. You know him as Uncle Marvin
on Raising Canaan and he does a great job on
that show. But he's just funny even on social media.
He'll be joining us when we come back. It's way up,
Turn me up. Here we go upgain.

Speaker 6 (24:19):
This is way up with Angela yee.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
What's up his way up at Angela yee. This is exciting.
London Brown is back again. Yes, yes, yes, ghad you
can eat that because we're used to that on TV.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
The pillars have already begin.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
Okay, all right, well listen, we're back at it with
Raising Kanaan. Uncle Marvin is back at it. And you know,
aside from your own comedy career, which we'll talk about
in a minute, which I love, and the White Tea
Talk which I always love to watch, I want to
talk about what's happening for Raising Kanaan and just seeing
some of the things that we are now finding out
about Uncle Marvin with it's kind of giving us some

(24:51):
insight into who your character is.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Little by little, we're touching down on the history of
the family a little bit more like why or how
the Toms family became him to be while we have
our issues that we have with each other, and so
it's a little different this season. And as opposed to
I think sometimes people think they know where the stir
is gonna go, but this season it's gonna be a
lot of emotional plot twists.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Have you seen the Uncle Marvin muck Bang videos that
they've been doing where they have you like eating food.
It's like a whole compilation of you.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Know with the food stuff because I know they're gonna
see name.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
I did that on purpose, you know.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
But if it's a healthy snack, I ain't mad at that.
But the thing about it is, even with the show,
I explained to the followers that I come from theater,
so me choosing to eat on the show is just
what what I call or what we call like small business.
And it's just how do I find a way to
keep the audists engaged with the character even though he's
not speaking. What makes him interesting? Because I'm on the

(25:52):
show with a lot of talented people, bigger names. Tony
Danzel went to, all these people want to I got
to find a way how do I separate myself with saying, Hey, everybody,
look at me. I'm doing something. It just has to
be nice and organic. You came up with that snacking
was just yeah, it was one of those things.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
I'm like, well, and that's the real thing. We all
know somebody that's like always snacking on something.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Right now I'm talking to London Brown aka Uncle Marvin
from Raising Kanaan. Since you brought up Tony Danza, I
mean amazing to be able to I just think about
Tony Danza in our childhood. I'm telling you what that meant.
So how did you feel being able to have those scenes?

Speaker 2 (26:27):
First, I even know he's joining the show until we
did a zoom table read. So I was like, well,
Tony Dancer's in the show. So first thing I go to,
as you mentioned, I go right to Who's the Boss? Yes,
some out the eighties. I loved that show. And so
when I finally had a chance to meet him, it
was cool because he was so nice. If he had
in the paperwork, don't look me in the eye, and

(26:47):
you know when you speak to him or call him
Mster Danzer, I would have respected it. He's earned that,
no doubt. But the fact that he was cool made
me respect me even that much more. I mean, he
got stories for days. He knows everybody. Hey, London, I
tell you the time I was on the boat with
me Jesus and Peter like and we walked through the water.
I made him, I made him lasagna. He's just like

(27:08):
stories for everything, but they're always great. You always learned
a lesson and we would step off to the side
and talk to him about tap dance and we go
through some stuff with tap dancing and just hanging out
and he's a good, great guy.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Random like, tell me about these tap dancing.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
You know what, I used to tap dance. So because
of that, Tony and I obviously I know that he
tap dancers. So we were talking. We would every now
and again we go through a couple shuffle steps and
we would just do that in between.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Texts, like we need to see some video of that.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
That would be great.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
London Brown is here. You also know him as Uncle
Marvin from Raising Canaan, and we have more with him
when we come back. It's way up, yeah yee. But
you're all being waiting fork.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
You're tapped in the way up with Angela yee.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
What's up this way up with Angela yee? And right
now I have a London Brown here. You know, I'm
a big fan of Raising Canaan. What was that time
like for you when you were working and twenty eight
dollars in the bank account? What was your mindset like
that and did you feel like I'm just waiting for
my big break, like how did you feel at that time?

Speaker 2 (28:12):
All I knew is that something's got to happen. So
I was still taking some free classes and whatnot, and
I just remember one day and after school program, I
just looked at my account as like twenty eight dollars.
You ever been so broke you start thinking of creative
ways to dog to get paid. This is where I
was at. I said, you know what, I'm going to
go get a suit. I'm going to fill out my resumes.

(28:32):
I'm going to hand them out, and before I get
back home, I'm gonna jump right in front of a bus.
I said, if I get paid.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
You did not think that.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Lots of people think like this. He said, what if
I just pulled in front of a bus, I might
get some insurance. So it's a city government bus, it's
some money.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
I just settle.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
I'm thinking stuff like that because I'm so prob. I'm like,
I gotta figure out a way to pull a crown joke.
So that's where I was. But I just knew I
worked at the school because I love working with kids.
Shout out to NCRIF National College Resources Foundation organization where
we helped students get into HBCUs. But fortunately I didn't
have you know, I don't have kids. I didn't have
a lot of responsibilities. Just had a car, note, cell phone.

(29:12):
That was about it. So if I could keep my
maintenance stuff down, I didn't really need a high paying
job at the time. So but I just was like,
y'all got to stay focused. Let me work these open
mics comedy clubs. Until something happened.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
I just knew I was enjoying what I was doing.
But that's why it's important to do what it is
you love to do, because you can do it for free.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Right now, I'm talking to London Brown aka Uncle Marvin
from Raising Kanaan, are you gonna do an hour special?
Half hour special? Like what's the plan when it hits?

Speaker 2 (29:39):
So right now, it's just been so well now that
we you know, for this particular season, we're done shooting.
So that's why I'm in the clubs heavy. I just
want I'm just working out and fleshing out my tail
right now because yes, ultimately that's to go because people
don't know, still don't know our do standard. So I'm
still working to get that out. The people who know know,
And I toured different things like that, but still a
lot of people just don't know I come from stand

(29:59):
up So.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
What's people's reaction when they see you and they didn't know?

Speaker 2 (30:03):
They're excited to see me from the show. Fortunately, after
coming off these last few seasons, they think Marvin is funny,
so that helps. I'm more candid with my style, which
is just fun conversations. So hopefully I can continue to
do that and build with your audience and they continue
to rock with me.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
All right, Well, we'd love to see it. So everybody
make sure you check them out and people can find
out where your shows are if they go to your page.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
You're just following you on Instagram, always talking and sharing.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Follow him anyway on Instagram. He'll respond to you too
if he yeah, will do? Yes, you do? You definitely do?

Speaker 2 (30:34):
All right?

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Well, London Brown, thank you so much. Always a pleasure.
And every single time you know you got to pass through.
Do we know if it's been renewed for another season
yet or we waiting to find out?

Speaker 10 (30:43):
If?

Speaker 2 (30:43):
I mean yeah, I think so, I think I could.
I could share that we got another season, okay, so yeah,
yeah awesome.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
If that's a spoiler, fifty we'll just come for you.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
No, thank you for watching the show and keeping us,
keeping us at the top of the list.
