Hundred and two nine two fifty one fifty call us up.

And the person I want to shine a light on

shine a light today.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
I want to shine a light on a woman named
Jennifer Ford.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
She is the first black woman to reportedly own a
sneaker boutique in the United States, and she's launching a
limited edition sneaker with Adidas. She's from Houston, Texas, and
her passion for sneakers led her to work with major
parel giants. And she's the proud owner of Premium Goods,
which is a sneaker boutique in Houston. Now Premium Goods

(01:56):
Houston location. You know, they have one that was actually
in New York first Clarence Nathan. It was in Brooklyn,
and I actually always go past that store. And so
she manifested her own sneaker boutique in two thousand and four,
located in her own hometown, and so she was able
to do that in Houston. So congratulations to her. You
guys can check out the sneaker here. Yeah, that's the

(02:17):
sneaker right there.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Only for women.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
I'm not sure if it's only for women.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Okay, so she can maybe send us some.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Yeah, maybe we can get some.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yeah, West ten.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Now the design of the sneaker has a hidden pocket
to mock a glove compartment in a car because of
Houston's car culture. She's honoring that. And yeah, so shout out.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Okay, cigare compartment. I like those.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
We know, all right, Well, shout out to Jennifer Ford. Now,
who do you guys want to shine a light on?
Eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty Hey, Sianna.

Speaker 7 (02:46):
Fly, thank you, good morning.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I'm good?

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Who do you want to shine a light on today?

Speaker 7 (02:50):
Okay? For me?

Speaker 8 (02:53):
Okay, because I'm a mother, I'm a mother woof, But
I have four ground children and two Ana Lesta eleven,
a teen year old are my pree brother.

Speaker 9 (03:06):
Crop I call him.

Speaker 7 (03:08):
But my eldest son is who I really want to
sign on line on. He's twenty eight and he's the
most fabulous, awesome, best eldest son ever and father.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
He's a father of Wow.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So you're a grandmother, yes I am. Okay, Grandma Siena,
that's dope. How many grandchildren do you have all together?

Speaker 7 (03:29):
I have two grandchildren, a seven year old grandson and
my grandbaby. He gave me my first granddaughter five and
a half month.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Oh my gosh, congratulations you are doing it. And shout
out to your son twenty eight years your eldest.

Speaker 7 (03:42):
Thank you. Yes, and my I have two angel grand babies,
so I got to mention now. Yeah, but my son
is the best father ever and the best person like
I love him.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
But they get I'm sure they help keep you young.
And you know what's great, They going to be taking
care of you forever.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
We got to make sure that we are good later
on in life to retire. And when we come back,
we're going to talk about somebody in Yeat who actually
went broke at seventy years old. He said he had
fifty million dollars and then nothing. We'll talk about it.
It's way up, they say in the rooms, from industry
shade to all the gossip out.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Angela's spilling that eye.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
It's way up with Angela. Ye, I'm here.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
My guy Mano is in the villing.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Last night was mad real?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Oh man, I know you're still recovering sunglasses. All right, Well,
let's get into some yeat. Al Pacino his memoir is out.
It's called Sunny Boy and I've been seeing a ton
of different stories about this, and one party talks about
losing his money.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
He went from fifty million.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Dollars to zero dollars because he had an accountant who
mismanaged his funds. So he said, in twenty eleven, he
started to get warnings that my accountant at the time,
a guy who had lots of celebrity clients, was not
to be trusted. And he was already paying all this
money to rent some big, fancy house in Beverly Hills.
He took his entire family on a trip to Europe,
where he flew various guests overseas.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
This is what.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
No, this is what al Patino did.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
And when he came home, he became suspicious because his
finances had not dramatically changed, even though he went on
vacation and spent so much money. And he said, I thought,
it's simple, it's clear. I just know this time stopped.
I am f't I was broke. I had fifty million,
and then I had nothing. I had property, but I
didn't have any money. And he also said, in this business,
when you make ten million dollars for a film, it's

(05:30):
not it's about four point five million. In your pocket
after lawyers, agents, publicists, the government. By the way, I
think it's probably less than four point five after paying
for all of that everybody. But he said it was
the kind of money that he was spending. And you know,
he was in his seventies when he learned that he
was broke, and so then he started doing things that
he normally wouldn't have done. He started in a commercial

(05:51):
the duncacino It is a coffee. It was a coffee advertised.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
I didn't do a dunkin donus jon.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I don't know about that, but I I didn't see that,
but he did. He maybe he didn't say it, but
then he also said Jack and Jill was the first
film I made after I lost my money. To be honest,
I did it because I didn't have anything else. Adam
sandlerm one of me and they paid me a lot
for it. So I went out and did it and
it helped. And so he also sold one of his
two houses to make money. And then he started charging

(06:19):
to conduct seminars and colleges and universities, which he had
never really charged for a prior and so he had
to hustle. No, it can happen, man, it can happen now.
He also in this book talks about a childhood injury
to his penis. He said that he was living in
the South Bronx ten years old, was walking on a

(06:39):
thin iron fence and he said it had been raining
all morning. He slipped and fell and the iron bar
hit him directly between his legs. I know you felt
that pain just now from what he said. He said
he was hunched over and moaning in so much pain
he couldn't make it home. And he said that he
had to go and the family, his aunt, his grandmother,
his mother was all poking and prodding at it, like panicked.

(07:01):
And then he said he heard them whispering things to
one another as they were inspecting it. And then he
said it did remain attached though, and to this day
he still is haunted by it.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Oh what a trauma.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, interesting Bookie talks about his mother's suicide attempt.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
He talks about everything. And I would love to read
this because you know.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
He's sounds like an interesting book.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, he's what eighty five years old around that time?
Well around that time, all right, Well that is your

samples of different things.

Speaker 1 (09:33):

Speaker 6 (12:52):

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
You want to tell me in mayno a secret?

Speaker 7 (12:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (12:56):
So lonely story short, we had a couple of people
at the house.

Speaker 8 (13:00):
Friends was over.

Speaker 9 (13:01):
I just got home after work, got out the shower.
I ain't have a shirt on. I had just wetdands on,
no shirt off. So I noticed both of her friends.
They just bearing at me like certain way.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
They all drinking, they drunk.

Speaker 9 (13:14):
Getting lit. So I'm like, you know what, let me do?

Speaker 6 (13:17):
What for that?

Speaker 9 (13:18):
I started a little.

Speaker 10 (13:18):
Flirting with him a little bit, just.

Speaker 9 (13:20):
Playing around, but I see they really on that. So
I'm like, oh, yeah, give me that. I need both
of them. So, long story short, we end up having
a three songs with.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
Two of your mom's friends.

Speaker 9 (13:31):
Yeah last week?

Speaker 6 (13:32):
Wow they were women, right, Yeah, got to make sure nowadays.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Brother, Okay, where was your mom when this was happening.

Speaker 9 (13:39):
She was just upstairs. She's just with her room.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
So wow, okay, that's crazy. What are you gonna do
when you see them again? And have you known these
women for a long time, like while you were young
growing up.

Speaker 9 (13:50):
Yeah, I knew them growing up. They've been around for
a little minute.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
So you knocked off the ogs. Yeah all right your mom?

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Does your mom know?

Speaker 9 (13:58):
Nah, you don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Imagine that now what you're gonna do when she has
a friends over again?

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Do it again?

Speaker 9 (14:05):
Do it again?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
All right?

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Well, thank you for sharing your secret.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
All right? Well that was tell us a secret eight
hundred two ninety two, fifty one to fifty. If you
couldn't get through, you could leave a message for last word.
And when we come back, we have your yee tea.
Let's talk about Kiky Palmer. And she's talking about why
she has a Toyota in her driveway right now.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
She is not trying to.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Live above her means, but talk about what happened that
taught her this valuable lesson.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
It's way up.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Sure, she's about to blow the lid abof this spot.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Let's get it.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
Oh yeah, angelus feeling that yea tea.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Come and get the tea.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
It's way up at Angela. Yee, I'm here. Mano's here,
no mana, and it's time for your yea tea.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
And I told you.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Snoop Dogg and Doctor Dreward in town for the New
York City Winding Food Festival. Well, yesterday, Snoop also collaborated
with Al Roker to give the weather report.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Here's what that sounded like.

Speaker 10 (14:56):
Ow, it's fifty seven degrees and Mary Jane falls from
bat that's right. And then I heard it was gonna
be fifty six degrees in Stone, Colorado.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
That's right above.

Speaker 10 (15:06):
The average highs seventy degrees in Roach, Missouri. Yes, I mean,
and over here, you know, I love you know, we
stayed lucky in Kentucky. It's gonna be sixty as we
blazed and blazed Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
You did, yeh Yeah.

Speaker 10 (15:21):
And over here we got Pottsville, Pennsylvania, where will be
sixty degrees and down low on the go sixty one
degrees at high point.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Get that high point, North Carolina.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Okay, that's a fun way to give the weather report.
All right, now, let's talk about Kiki Palmer. She was
actually talking about how she has to file for bankruptcy
when she was eighteen years old. She was also saying
during the Building Wealth Today for tomorrow Financial Empowerment Summit,
that's despite the guidance of a business manager. She found

(15:55):
herself in financial troubles and she did not know what
went wrong. But since then she learned from that lesson
and said that she lives well below her means as
a safety net. She said, if I got ten thousand
dollars in a bank, then my house will be five
hundred dollars a month.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
That's how under I mean.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Because I can probably afford something twenty five hundred maybe,
but I'm way under. You know why, because I want
to invest in my business. So if I want to
invest in my business and the material things that I'm
having currently, might have to take a short back. Instead
of wearing Gucci, I'm wearing Zara. I live in a
good place. I drive a cool car because my money
is going elsewhere. She said, I got a Toyota right
now in my driveway.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
I'm not mad at that at all.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
The sacrifices that you have to make when you know
you have a business or other things that you need
to invest in for yourself makes it all worth it.
When you know that you want to buy a house.
I remember just being like, I can't shop, I can't
do anything. Look right now, I'm trying to make sure
I'm living well under my means too, So.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
Gotta do what you gotta do. The other thing that Kiki.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Palmer has going on is she is now joining the
haircare brand Cream of Nature as its first chief brand officer.
So congratulations to that for her. She says she grew
up with Queen of Nature. It's one of those brands
that's always been there, not just among my family, but
my community all right now and more Didty news He
is being accused of lacing baby oil and lemon drops

(17:16):
with a date rape drug to assault victims at parties, and.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
So this is another lawsuit that was filed.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
One plaintiff identified as Jane Doe is saying that baby
y'all did have the GHB in it, which is what
they call the date rape drug. So it's a filing
that that has been placed. Another thing that's being said
about Diddy. Don Richard's attorney is accusing him of witness
tampering and says that there were over one hundred messages

(17:45):
between him and Colleina Harper before she denied seeing any abuse,
and then once she made her statement on Instagram, that's
when the call stopped. According to Don Richard's attorney. So
as far from over, guys, there's still things every single day.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Every day. It's another story. It's getting crazy, all right.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
And here's another rumor.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Drake and Jennifer Lopez have allegedly been texting every day
after she broke up with Ben Affleck. According to this source,
as soon as she filed the papers, Drake reached out.
He was very sweet and told her what a fool
Ben is for letting her get away. And then he said,
I'm just saying, man.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
You could do that one thing about Jenny Lopez. No,
she's gonna.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Rebound, and he quickly let her know he's ready and
willing to step in and satisfy her. And so she's
not considering a serious relationship. But they did have some
dating rumors, like eighty years ago.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Hey listen, man, Coogisney love.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
They were spoted kissing at a prom themed party shortly
after and she did say they were quote unquote hanging out,
but never gave any more information about the nature of
their relationship. Get that old thing backs in the block, baby, man.
All right, it's way up with Angela yee. And you
know we have under the radar when we come back.
These are the stories that are not necessarily in the headline.

(19:00):
They are flying under the radar, but you need to
know about them anyway, and we'll talk about how life
might be easier for you. One thing when we talk
about saving money that you may want to do is
look at all the services streaming services that you are
subscribed to.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Yeah, some of those got to go first.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Some of those got to go. And the FTC is
going to make it even easier for you to do that.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
It's way up.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
The news. This in the news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
It's way up at Angela. Ye, I'm here, my guy
Mano is here. Let's get to these under the radar stories,
all right. An ex FDA employee has revealed what is
the most harmful breakfast cereal on the market in the US.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
What's that?

Speaker 2 (19:43):
And this is his opinion what he is saying based
off of his experience.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
What do you what's your favorite cereal? Okay?

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Well, according to doctor Darren Dettwiler, who served as a
food safety expert for the agency, He told The Daily
Mail that Kellogg's fruit loops are the those used to
be my favorites. I'm not shock in the room I
used to love crazy. The rainbow rings are heavily processed.
They contain high levels of added sugars, artificial dyes, and

(20:11):
preservatives which are linked to health concerns. One cup serving
has twelve point thirty five grams of sugar, nearly half
of the recommended daily allowance for kids, but people always
eat way more than that, so it's not even realistic
to have one cup. Also, Red forty, we know that
bright red red forty dye that's also been linked to
health problems, as well as the yellow to all these

(20:34):
synthetic dyes. They say the synthetic dye could potentially trigger
aritobial and Crohn's disease.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
And they actually did march.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
On Kellogg's Michigan headquarters on Tuesday demanding the end of
harmful additives that are being injected into US batches of products.
And you know what's crazy, They have it different in
other countries because in other countries, yes, some of those
things are banned and people know that it's not good

(21:03):
for you, Like in the UK, Red forty and yellow
five are banned, so they make theirs differently there, and
in Japan taste different also for buds, the use of
red forty, so you know we still have it here though.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
They don't care about us trying to knock us off all.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Right now, the FTC has today announced a final click
to cancel rule. So if you want to cancel your
enrollment into one of these streaming services that you have,
it has to only be one click. They said, too
often businesses make people jump through endless hoops just to
cancel a subscription. The FTC's rule will end these tricks
and traps, saving Americans time and money. Nobody should be

(21:40):
stuck paying for a service day no longer want.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Maybe was it hard for you to get rid of
the only fans?

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Oh you know how many people he subscribed to?

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Yeh?

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Was it hard? You click right off?

Speaker 2 (21:54):
But I understand because think about sometimes when you've tried
to cancel something and you're like, oh my god, I
can't even get this cancer, how do you do this?
And so now it's going to make it easier. Only fans, no,
not only fans.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
What happened with.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
This subscription for candles? I was I was trying to
get out of your candles one time, right random, Like
it was like I had candles coming to my house
every month.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
I remember back in the day, they used to have
like a CD subscription what was it called something house
and you would get a subscription for CDs and then
they would never stop sending you on dcds and charging
you all this money.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
Oh they trapped you into that.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
It'd be like ninety nine cents, you get one hundred
CDs and the next thing you know, it just never stopped.
Of course kids today don't know about that. All right, Well,
that is you're under the radar. We do have the
Way Up mixed at the top of the hour, and
Trina is going to be joining us later. But the
baddest is out right now. You're gonna love this interview
because you know, me and my girl Tella read the
whole book. It's way up out like they like they angel.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Man she's spilling it all. This is yeat, it's way yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Put Angela yee, I'm here. My guy Mana was here.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
All right, that's get into some yet, Chief Keith. There
is a documentary in the works on him, according to
Variety exclusively, they reported this and Kenya Barris's company is
going to be partnering with Lyrical Lemonade and Cole Bennett
to chronicle his trajectory, So get excited for that. I
think we all would watch a Chief Keef documentary because

(23:32):
I feel like he doesn't give us much as far
as interviews. If you saw the infamous interview we had
with him.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
I'm gonna do your documentary.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
H meh, I'm gonna do yours. It's gonna be rated X.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
All right, and you know little Reese he was reportedly
he's reportedly facing five to ten years in prison after
he was arrested after his recent court appearance for his
aggravated assault case. So that story is still dating, but
we're seeing that information being posted on multiple different social
media accounts, and so we'll keep you updated on what's

(24:07):
going to happen with that.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
All right.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Rick Ross, he has gotten his first ever song to
surpass one billion streams on Spotify. Ironically enough, this is
a song that he has with Drake.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
The song was one of a two pack title Best
in the World pack that Drake put out in celebration
of the Toronto Raptors first NBA championship, and unfortunately, you know,
they don't get along. The song is money in the Grave.
What do you think because clearly as a team, they've
done some great things. Can people ever put their problems issues.

Speaker 10 (24:40):
To the side.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
I don't think get put aside? Never high Yeah, I
don't think so.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
It's kind of a rap.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Yeah, I think that's all right. And Meghan the Stallion
has also made an announcement. She just announced that she
has a part two of her of her album to
release October twenty fifth. Meghan Act to October twe fifth,
So that should be coming out next week. So we're
all excited for all the things. All right, Well that
is your yet. You know, it's a Friday, so you

(25:08):
know what that means, right, It's a new music Friday.
There's tons of new music out today, so we got
to make sure we talk about it. It's mostly a
lot of singles, a couple albums, but a whole lot
of amazing new singles that are out today.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
You know.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Shout out to Brent Fayez, shout out to Mary J. Blige,
the Legend. We'll talk about it. It's way up at Angela, ye,
but it's relationship for career advice.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
Angela's dropping facts.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
This is asked, what's up his way up at Angela Yee,
I'm here and the award winning Advice Giving Winning and
we have LJ on.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
The line for ask Ye.

Speaker 9 (25:41):
Hey, al Jay, Hey, how you doing.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
I'm good.

Speaker 9 (25:44):
How you feeling I'm feeling good?

Speaker 5 (25:46):
All right, what's your question for ask Ye?

Speaker 9 (25:49):
I'll quickly tell you the story. I called my ex
girlfriend that I used to day a couple of years ago.
I called and mom and sake with a guy that
wasn't her dad twice.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
WHOA, what was you doing?

Speaker 5 (26:02):
You're the guy.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
You know.

Speaker 9 (26:06):
So we were together for like nine years, so I
was like embedded in the family. I was like practically
a family member. And one day I was there and
my old lady was at the uh at a job.
She was a teacher, so it was the daytime and
her mom was a professor, but she wasn't working that day,
so I guess she must have forgotten that I was there.
And uh so I rushed down the steps because I

(26:28):
heard somebody. Moment I thought it was my girl, and
I'm like, yeah, this was about to be a crime scene.
And so when I went through the kitchen, looked through
the look at the the front room, she was getting
pounded out by a life skin dude, right old dude,
and it wasn't weird because, like I'm gonna tell you,
like her mom was second mother.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
So what's there was a second time?

Speaker 9 (26:53):
Yeah, So the second time was I called it in
the garage. The dog told on her. The dog was
like barking, and he was like barking at the garage.
I go to the garage. I'm like, I'm about to
let him out. You want to peek? She getting bring
over on the motor fights about the same.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
So what's the advice you need that?

Speaker 9 (27:09):
Do you think I should have told her? No?

Speaker 1 (27:11):
I think you should have mind your business. That's what
I think you should have managed your business.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
It don't matter what they got to do with you, though,
Mama need love to that lady cheating peace man Brook.

Speaker 9 (27:25):
I never I never told anyone else, and like I
never told the possbod.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Good something you gotta take to the grain.

Speaker 9 (27:32):
He caught me, she said. Second time she caught me
catching her. So it was kind of awkward.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
List you guys locked eyes, Yeah, maybe stop or she
just kept going.

Speaker 9 (27:44):
Oh no, they stopped immediately, like they they pretended like
they were looking at the bike or whatever, like the
bike that Like, I closed the door really fast and
just went back in the man if I.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Was you, I were leaving alone man her, he said
he should have.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
If I caught my man's like mom cheating, I probably
would tell him what I saw, And that is up
to him if he's like gonna tell the family.

Speaker 9 (28:08):
But I'm super hard to keep like I couldn't keep
that from.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
I'm not telling on Mama, but you know, don't tell
type of person love man.

Speaker 9 (28:20):
Oh yeah, most definitely Mama was gonna get loved because
mam wad be having all the young dudes howling at.

Speaker 6 (28:25):
See he was looking at Mama too kind of way.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
All right, well, what I don't know if you need
her advice because you did tell her. But MANO is
saying you shouldn't have told her. I would. I would
tell my significant other. What if she would have looked
at you and been like your next he would.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Have won in I don't know, right, don't you would
you would have told?

Speaker 9 (28:44):
You would have told that like she was fine, Fine.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
We're gonna let you go now, okay, LJ all right,
all right, all right, thank you for calling.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
All right, damn snitch.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
All right, Well that was ask ye eight hundred two
ninet two fifty one fifty in case you couldn't get through.
And when we come back, Trina is in the building,
all right, the baddest, so excited to talk to her.
You know, I'm a big fan of Trina's and I
will say I've been wearing this spike Valentino buttery matt
lip color. I feel like this is something that Trina
would love to because it's the packaging. You know, she's classy,

(29:18):
you know, she's bad, just like this spiked packaging. It
looks like you can see it's a Valentino product. It
has a non drying matt finished. And since she's always
on the go, I see she's been promoting her book,
which is amazing, really heavy. It's the type of thing
that you need when you have to get up in
the morning, be outside for ten hours because it stays
on for ten hours and not miss a beat. All right,
So Trina is next again. She is the baddest. It's

(29:40):
way up.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
We're about to do this, yeah, y'all.

Speaker 10 (29:42):
More way up with angel On Now, what's up?

Speaker 2 (29:48):
It's way up with Angela yee, and my girl Tella
is here with me.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
And the timing is amazing because you know, we both
love us some Trina, we do yay hy.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
Just for full disclosure, we both read your whole book.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yeah, I did, Yes, oh wow.

Speaker 11 (30:04):
And they gave me a new found you know, I've
been a fan and a friend, yes, but it gave
me a new found respect for you, like, oh my god.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (30:12):
It's called the Badass.

Speaker 8 (30:13):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
So congratulations first and foremost, because I know, putting something
like this together it's a lot mentally to revisiting certain it.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Definitely is a lot.

Speaker 12 (30:23):
I mean I think actually just doing the process of
the book, it was kind of flowing good and through
and stuff. And we did mostly like the childhood, growing up,
the starting of the career, you know, a meeting trick,
doing a song, all that kind of first, and we
did like the parts that was deep, like with my
mom and all that stuff. Losing we did that kind
of Towards the end. She was like just trying to

(30:44):
prepare me for that because I knew it was coming,
but I had to like mentally be ready, like to
even discuss and you know, talk about it. And in
the middle of writing a book, this is when I
lost my knee. So we had to pause because I
couldn't even do no more. I was like, I can't
and then I went back to Yeah, but it was
the good part was the growing up, the fun and reminiscing,
you know, all the stuff I was doing as a child,
you know, getting in trouble all that. Cause I went

(31:04):
back to it and I just started laughing, like I
really used to be trying to you know, but it
was it was good.

Speaker 5 (31:09):
When did you decide it was time to write a book?

Speaker 12 (31:11):
Conversation came between me and the writing me and so
we just had a conversation and she came to my
she's from Chicago.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Yeah, she's from Chicago.

Speaker 11 (31:19):
Yeah, so dope, because I didn't know she had nothing
to do it.

Speaker 12 (31:23):
Well, yeah, she was the one came to me, and
she came to Miami for like a week and we
just spunk the whole week together and we wasn't right
and we was just hanging out. I took it like
to the neighborhood where I grew up, in a lot
of stuff, food, I like to everything, and we just
hung out. And so when we started talking about the book,
it wasn't like a job, like a pressured thing, like
you gotta do this so you can't say this to you.
It was just more like when she came back to Miami,

(31:45):
we just hung out at my house. I was I
was right like every time I was writing, whenever I
felt like it, like She'll be like you feel up
to today, We'll get up early in the morning. I'll
say not today or tomorrow whatever, and I'll just okay,
today we'll talk about this part of my life or
this part.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
So it was more organic. I'm just like putting together album.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
I saw you at Chella's birthday party, and I'm gonna
say the same thing now.

Speaker 5 (32:05):
Because you talk with your hands a lot.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
On this side right here is the ring.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Oh my god, I always do it with my hand.
That's like a thing I don't know.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
And you got married, and that was you kept it
on the low when you did it.

Speaker 12 (32:25):
Well, we got married privately at home, okay, And that
was what I wanted. I just wanted that experience first
because everything else in the in when I go into planning,
in the wedding part, it's a lot.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
It's very hectic. A lot of people just feels like,
why wasn't I invited, Why wasn't I told?

Speaker 12 (32:44):
Why I was like I didn't tell nobody right, it
was just a private thing for us to enjoy first,
and then we do the celebration, because I know the celebration,
that's one night you spend all this money. When the
next day you roll over, it is over. So I
just wanted to sit in that and enjoy that before
I actually start planning.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
And I was just happy it was.

Speaker 12 (33:00):
I know, I'm so used to now, just like my husband,
I can't stop saying that, and I love to say that,
like I'm going to always.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Say it, keep it on it. I was like, come on, it.

Speaker 11 (33:16):
Had to be some low ki yah. It was just
because I know you're gonna do it really over the top.

Speaker 12 (33:20):
If I had not got married privately first, I would
have been more over the time. But when I did it,
it was just so beautiful.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
It was just private.

Speaker 12 (33:30):
So now when I do the actual ceremony, as over
the top as I want to be, but I'm gonna
make it less like smart.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
I wanted to just be intimate.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Different than the person's over the top anyway. Yeah, I
feel like your regular is over the time, yes, but I.

Speaker 12 (33:47):
Mean over the top, but private more still still like
controlling of just like immediate people I love in it
because to me, realistically, I feel like weddings is for
people that really really love the two of you to
they're really gonna support you because the day and all
that glistic lam is over. But what about five ten
years when y'all still together, y'all maybe going through some
of y'all trying to figure out where's all the people

(34:08):
that was at the wind and they ate of all
y'all food, right, and if somebody bring a gift, you
don't came, you don't came. And now we you know,
we and we life in and nobody's around. I didn't
want that.

Speaker 5 (34:18):
So would you do a special?

Speaker 3 (34:20):
What does that mean? Like showing the wedding like like
you know, like.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Like that plus it they pay for it.

Speaker 12 (34:28):
I was talking a different ball game here, Angela, huh yeah,
let's go.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
That's over the time, all right. Trina is in the building.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
She has her memory out the baddest right now, so
make sure y'all pick it up. It's so amazing. My
girl Tella is with me. We got more when we
come back. It's way up. What's up?

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Its way up with Angela.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yee, I'm here, my girl Tella is here and we're
talking to Trina. Another thing about Trina that she's known
for is always showing love to the women.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
Yeah myself.

Speaker 11 (35:00):
Yeah, the first female to do a coad saying video
pay for it. I never forget like it was three
of us and you were like, look, don't worry about nothing.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
She always tells me this.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
It.

Speaker 11 (35:16):
I never forget it. So I appreciate that, and you know,
I love me some One other thing I loved about
the book, so just how you grew up, how you
was like, look, I really ain't have to struggle for nothing.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
You know, we had, Louis, we had and I can
see that.

Speaker 12 (35:29):
You know, my mom had all that. I was stealing
her stuff, but I was in it.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
It rolled open to you to how you are. So
I was like, that's what's up because I ain't know that.

Speaker 12 (35:39):
Yeah, my mom, she just my mom had everything. I
mean I always all have everything. So of course, like
when I became like teenager, like in high school and stuff,
I would like when she be at work and stuff,
I would steal her clothes and put them in a
little bag through out of the window because me and my
friends would get dressed up in this drip we don't
have no design, neer, we don't have no money, but
my mom got don't worry, I got all us just
come on over here at this time, and as soon

(36:00):
as she's not here, we're gonna all get dressed up.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
Of course she's to find out, but okay, whatever I
need it, like, let's go.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
But the reason I was gonna say that you show
so much love to women, you know, Chelling included, but everybody, right,
It's also from when you were younger. You was always popping,
and I think when we read this book, you'll see that.
But I also feel like that gives you confidence for
you don't feel competitive later on in life, because I
realized there's people that like it's kind of not it
growing up, and then when they get on, they beginn't

(36:30):
know how to act, how to accept it'll fully take
it on.

Speaker 12 (36:33):
So for me, I always was in control of everything.
I just felt like, if we follow my way, we're
not gonna get in trouble because I.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Know what to do and what not to do.

Speaker 12 (36:41):
If we shouldn't be at this place, or if something's
gonna be going out of place, I know I'm almos
gonna kick my butt first.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
So we're not gonna do that.

Speaker 12 (36:48):
So but if I follow you one of my friends
and we get in trouble, who that's like twice for me.
So I always was the one need to be in control.
I know where we're going with. Everybody needs to put
on how we need to look, how we're gonna go out,
boss up car. We gonna take all I had, like
I just had to roll out or I always was
like that. I wanted to have everything. I wanted to
have my own money, have my own place, have my

(37:09):
own car. Like you know, even when I first moved
out at a young age, I moved into my mom's house.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
A rental place.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
But you couldn't afford it.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
I could not afford it. I could not afford it.

Speaker 12 (37:17):
And and the thing about that was a life lesson
for me because my mom explained to me, even though
I was real mad, I was like, you know, my god,
you could have let me like slide one more month,
But she was like no, because if you if you
didn't know me, and I was of real your landlord
and somebody was paying your rent to if you do
not pay, they're kicking you out. At least you I
gave you thirty days more to like get it together.
And in thirty days you still did not have all

(37:39):
the money. You gotta go on your credit at least
pack it. It wasn't not my credit, so I was
good to go.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
But pack it up. You got lesson? Should call it?

Speaker 5 (37:46):
Call the people?

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Yeah, I get you up out of here. But she
did it in a good way. I learned that though.

Speaker 12 (37:50):
I was like, Wow, you know what, you cannot be
slack and if you want something, if you want it,
you gotta work card for you gotta like be disciplined.
You gotta strategize, you gotta make goal set goals for
yourself and know what you want to do.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
And that's just kind of you know.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
So what made you want to start doing the rock
Star Music Festival.

Speaker 12 (38:05):
I didn't do a lot of festivals like that. I
didn't get to do a lot of I did. I
did like Rowland. I did a couple of festivals I like.
But I mean when I started my career in working,
I was working so much and doing shows, I.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Never did festivals.

Speaker 12 (38:15):
And when I look at like the festival lineups and
certain stuff, especially when the ones come to Miami, it's
like you really don't even hardly see Miami artists on there,
you know. And then I was like, well, let me
just do my own festival, and I want to do it.
And this is not about the biggest stars in the game.
This is about people that I believe in that just
have dope music. I don't care if you came out
in nineteen ninety. If I love your music and whatever

(38:36):
you got going on, I want you on this stage
because you have some fans from back then. That's like, oh,
I ain't see him or her in so long, so
I'm going to come out to see that. You get
what I mean. And so that was my whole motive
of doing the rock Star Music Festival.

Speaker 11 (38:48):
What you in Korea did, Oh yeah, that was.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
But the fact that she.

Speaker 12 (38:55):
Came out with the two thousand and four out there,
it was just like he gave me cha.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
Yes, you know, trying to use something different.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
So are looking good?

Speaker 2 (39:08):
The madness is an understatement?

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Thank you?

Speaker 2 (39:11):
All right, Well, we appreciate you so much for coming through.
Congratulations on the book. I'm telling you people got to
read this and then go see the baby when it
comes out. Are you going to you're doing an audiobook?

Speaker 3 (39:20):
I did an audiobook yes, okay, book out, all right, book.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
Congrats on everything, and thank you so much for coming.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
Thank you, guys, appreciation. I'm so happy.

Speaker 5 (39:29):
All right.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
You can watch that full interview with t Triina on
