Speaker 1 (00:01):
Wind Down with Janet Kramer, an iHeartRadio podcast. Well, we
are back from our whirlwind trip to from Vegas. Let's
recap at Baby.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
This recap magicians, musicians and magic.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
There you go. Yeah, so we went to Vegas for
the iHeart Radio Festival. They had Tate McCrae performing at Cheerin.
I mean a bunch of people. But usually what we
do is, or what I have done in years past,
is I will fly in day before day of like
(00:43):
the earliest flight, and then get there like I'll land
at what eleven o'clock or not even earlier than that,
like ten o'clock whatever, and then go straight into makeup,
straight to the show, and then take the first flight
out the next morning. But this has been on the
calendar for a while, and we had scheduled the bigs
(01:05):
to be with their dad and so.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
And you still thought of it changing it, well.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Because it's just it's in my DNA to not be
away from home and from the kids because we have Roman.
So it's like and then there are so many pieces
of that because we don't have family here, so we
have a wonderful nanny that helps helps with Roman. But
it's also you know, you got to pay overage and overnights,
(01:31):
and so I always I'm still very caught caught. I'm
still very cost conscious, but also I want to I'm
a homebody, like through and through. I like to be home.
I want to be home, and so yeah, but I
had Originally I was like, babe, we should make we
should go the day before wild I know, and do
(01:54):
something really fun and have some time together. But it
was the the day before we were leaving. I'm like, hey,
let's just go Saturday morning. Because in my mind, I'm like,
we had nothing planned, no show planned, no dinner, and
I like to at least know there's a reason why
we're going earlier.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Yeah, I gave you a reason and we had a
great thing.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah, and I've heard a piece of me was like
I don't want to book it, like you know, I'm
like I mentioned it and then nothing was followed through
with it. So I was like, all right, but we're
going the next day. So I was like very quick.
I was very close to changing it because I wanted
you to put on a little effort too, to like
want to do something fun on Friday, because if I
(02:39):
don't have a reason to be somewhere I'm going to
stay home.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
And you know how I love a last minute booking.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah, I A s sure do so fun. Uh So
he ended up booking dinner too. So we got to
Vegas and we landed around like four, went to the hotel.
It was beautiful. We were staying at the Nomad Hotel,
which is part of the park. MGM, so beautiful hotel.
It was right across the street from the arena, which
(03:05):
is great because usually we kind of stay off the strip,
but this was really convenient. And then we went to
this Greek restaurant at the Venetian Milos, and then we
went and saw David Blaine, which I've seen his shows,
like he did this one show with celebrities where he'd
come into their house and I mean I've followed along
(03:28):
with him when he was buried alive or standing in
that box for however many days it was. And I
had like zero expectations of the show, truthfully, like I
was kind of like, this is going to go one
way or the other. I'm going to be underwhelmed or
I'm going to be blown away because I just I
don't I didn't really know. I just knew he did
(03:49):
wild things. I just didn't want to expect, had no
idea what to expect.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Part of the excitement that you don't know what they expect.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yeah, and so the fact that he well, I think
when he comes on stage straight away you warmed him
because he's quite quirky and funny.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
He's so chill though, so it almost took me by surprise,
That's what I said.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
You can tell he's been doing it for years and
years and years and years and years because his process
is so clean and smooth and it doesn't flinch.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
No, But I almost sat balance the whole time. I
almost thought that when he was he had just come out.
He's so chill that I'm like, does he want to
be here? That was my first impression because it was
she was just very like, hey guys, I'm like, oh man,
he's sick of this. Well, I liked, well, then wow,
he I mean, what a show.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Honestly, Yeah, you can see why he's the top four
in the world, top four or five in the world,
just by how he quits himself throughout the whole sixteen
ninety minutes whatever. It's like, get how he gets the audience.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Involved, which he always says magicians have people planted in
the audience. But I really don't see how because I mean,
he'll throw something out there and then he throws it
to someone else. I mean, I guess unless all the
people are planted, I have a really hard time believing that.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, there's no way that all those people. We might
be wrong. They might, they might plan.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
They're the best actors if they are.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah, but every single thing that he did was you know,
you know, when you go and see a show, you're like, yeah,
this part was good, and that part was good. Every
single part of it was good.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah. You had asked me after the show, you said,
which was your favorite part? And I'm like, all of it, Like,
it was so cool. Each piece of it. I could
do without the things where he sticks things in his body.
That part, that part makes me like square me and
I don't. I don't. I don't like that to me.
That's just painful.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
That's what keeps you so see the bit of the
ice pick and the styrofoam up.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Yeah, that's what keeps people engaged.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
That's what keeps you on the edge of the seat
of looking away or looking towards them.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
We're looking away.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah, And it's so good at keeping you engaged for
the whole the whole time, and then the finale trick.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I'll spend the rest of my life.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I will never understand how he did this finale trick.
It was the most mind blowing thing ever because short,
long story short, we all got a deck of.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Cards, and as you arrive in the arena.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yes, and in a deck of cards, all of them
are different suits, numbers, faces, the whole thing. They are
a true pack of I think it's like what fifty
two cards, and he had the audience shuffle the cards, shuffle, shuffle,
shuffle again, the entire audience shuffle cards. Should be not
(06:34):
saying this the spoiler alert no, because there's only three
shows left. So if you're going to Vegas for his
three shows in November, stop listening.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Say one thing.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
No, I'm not I'm selling like like what happens at
the very end.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
The one trick, the one trick.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
But that's that's like the big finale. Though it's so good, I.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Know it doesn't matter because people will go there and
they'll get another card and they'll be like, wow, true John.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
I told us about this, But I still don't know
how we did it.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yes, So we're shuffling, and then we are then we're
than we're cutting the deck all different ways. I'm looking
at Alan how he's cutting his deck. I'm looking at
the person next to me, he's cutting his deck. And
then we're supposed to just pick a random card. We
pick that random card and we put it underneath our leg.
(07:23):
Everyone from the audience one card, and then this really
cute little magician kid comes up to the stage because
you know, calls out, are there any future magicians out there?
Those little what twelve year old boy Darling walks up
on the stage and he again shuffles the deck and
(07:46):
David fans the cards, and the kid picks out a
three of Hearts, and then David has the entire audience
take the card out from under our leg, and every
single person in the arena had three hearts ow no clue,
mind blown.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Incredible what So at that point I'm thinking, just freaks
me out. Does the heat from underneath your leg to
every card into a three of Hearts?
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Well?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
But then the kid could have chosen any car.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Any card, And then I've been sitting on the deck
of guards like I have had I've put that to test.
I put a card underneath my leg didn't change.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Incredible.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
So if you have, if you're going to Vegas and
you want something to do that will blow you away.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Then David Blaine.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
The next day we went to the iHeart Festival, got
to meet some awesome Verizon winners, and then did a
little backstage tour and then we got to enjoy the show.
I've never seen Ed Sheeran live. He was amazing. He
was so good. John Fogerty, Wow the hits. At first,
I'm like, what does he sing? And then I'm like,
oh my gosh, she sings every song. I love that.
(09:10):
My dad loves that I grew up listening to. But
I'm just like John Fogerty.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
I apologize because I apologize.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Like he's eighty year old. I love a health of him.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
I feel absolutely disgusting than myself's best guy's songs of
like things of legend.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
We're so we're just like sitting there in the lounge
and we're like, should we go out to listen to
John Fogerty. I'm like, I don't really care, Like I
don't really know. I don't think I know any of
the songs, and I was like, yeah, I'm either. I
was like, well, let's just go though, because if not,
we're gonna get sleepy and we're gonna ditch, like I
know us. So we go out there and it's just
like banger after banger after banger, and we're like, oh
my god, I love John Fogerty. But it's so funny
(09:48):
because this guys back then, I like, I don't I
wouldn't know that he would have sang any of those.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
I know he recognize the songs, but that was singing, yeah,
absolute iconic songs. And then Ed Sheeting comes on and
he's like half DJ half singer, like just absolutely amazing.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
He's incredible.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, my leg and my body and everything. And I
don't normally dance, Yeah, I'll sure reactions to any sort
of music, and lesson in the house.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
On my one, I.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Have to say I was a little disappointed with Tim, Yeah,
I was. I love timmo Grawl. I mean I love
him so so so much, like so much. And I
understand when you're an artist and you know, you just
you want to sing your songs, but he really only
sang one one big hit and I'm just like and
(10:38):
but I get it. It's like he's you know, and
he even said, he's like, well, you know, they invite
me here to sing my hits, so here, here.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
You go, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
But I'm like, you have so many hits, And I
was just like I couldn't wait to just like scream
to them, you know. So I was a little bummed
because he only really gave us one. But I still
love him and he's still you know, he's Timograth. But
and then we and then.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Liberating whether we were going to stay for Mariah.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Which the fact that you even were deliberating and you
are this like ultra fan.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Not an ultra fan.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
I've never seen you smile that big ever, not even
on our wedding day. That's That's like a funny song.
This song just like which one.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
I'm not singing it a very FoST one story.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
What does that song mean to you?
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Then? I just like it.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
It's like it was my teenage years and my foster
car or my second car and music blasting up loud
and and you.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Were blasting in Glasgow, Scotland and Mariah care.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Album like so it brought back a lot of like
nostalgia from when I was like a young professional football
teenager leaving training in Boom Mariah on Phil Blast.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
I don't know why that's so funny. I mean, I
love Mariah Carey, don't get me wrong. I would make
up dances in the basement to her music with my friends,
like I was obsessed with her. But I just, I
don't know. For some reason, it just made me surprised
that you were such a big fan.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
And it's probably the first time I've heard the song
in ten years. Yeah, so it was like, wow, well,
and that's the one that I kind of sang to
you usually if you want to hear a song, what
one would it be? Yeah, And I kind of sang
when you.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Than me? But she started with that, which which you know.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
I mean, she just hit after hit after it. Oh.
It was such a good show that sounds like boom
So Vegas was amazing. We didn't really meet anybody else though, No,
we didn't know. It's okay. It was so fun. It
was super fun to get away. Then we took the
first flight out. We got back to the hotel after
(12:45):
the show. We skipped out on the last one we
weren't familiar with and we were pretty tired, like, let's
just head back and oh and also Alan played black
jack for the very first time.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
And really enjoy that. I can see white people get
addicted to.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, we were up and then we then we lost
it at the roulette table. We should have just kept it.
But it's fine. It was fun. You know, we only
took out two hundred dollars, so it was you know,
it didn't hurt as bad.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Yeah, but I could have.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Like even when we were at there I Hot festival,
I said like, come on, we'll go and we can
go and play fery minutes of black Hike.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yeah. And instead, though it was like eleven o'clock, we
had to get up at four am for a flight
get back to the babes and uh, but you went
and got a bowl of riggid tony No, would you
get No?
Speaker 3 (13:30):
I got Tagletaily Bolonese bolonnaise.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Yeah, and you're just like chowing down at eleven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
I was late than eleven by the time I went
downstairs and got it. It was like in awe that
tow we marketplace, past the straight out of the fridge
and to the port. So good in bed, I'm smashing
through a tagataily Bolanese and I also had the snickles.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
I came bed so good weekend.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
It was a great weekend, all right. Well there was
our little Vegas recap, Babe. It was fun to get
away with you for two nights.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
I sure was.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
I enjoyed gambling with you, and just you know what
the best part for me, honestly was the next morning.
I didn't have to do hair and make up until
like two thirty, and so we quote unquote slept in.
It was what I woke up at four and then
woke back up at like seven or eight. But we
(14:24):
had breakfast and then we just walked around Las Vegas Strip.
We walked into different casinos and we window shopped, tried
on things. We didn't buy anything, but we just enjoyed
our day and it was so relaxing. Just I'm like,
when we've never done that before.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
I don't think we don't get a tent.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
No, But because we didn't have we didn't have to
rush somewhere, go somewhere, be on time for this thing,
and it was I felt very connected to you. If
we were to grade the day, it was an a.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
It was any and it's as nice to have the
moments where Okay, what shall we do instead of what
do we need to the Yeah?
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Well that was nice.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Yeah, And I was like, let's just walk around.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
I just kind of wanted to smoothie place. You found
a good smoothie place.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
We like scoured place, Yeah, and just walk there and
then got we got would get lost and those casinos
are so confusing by the way. I mean, they could
just figure out their signs in the casinos, that'd be great.
But it was. Yeah, it was fun to just.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Get lost, get lost in Vegas, but.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
It was fun. Thanks Babe, I love you.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Yeah,
