Speaker 1 (00:00):
A lot of people don't understand, like how deep some
of my relationship go with some of these wrestlers, and
that's kind of cool. You don't know until you actually
listen to the interview, like me and Osprey has been
like brothers for like over ten years.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Are you Ready's about to hit the fan?

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Welcome to sanctioned Thursdays in Wrestling with Friday.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the show that you asked for,
you got and is run by y'all. It is unsanctioned Thursdays.
We appreciate you guys for tuning in each and every week.
I like getting to do this extra show for you guys,
and it's just for y'all with us once again as

please do before you listen to this one. Is the
AEW World Champion. He prophesied it. It came true, mister

(00:57):
Swerve Strickland. Thanks for sticking around. How are you once again? Sir?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I'm great man. Get ready for this gym session in
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
By nice die for a couple of hours, but I'm
only going to get in there for about an hour
because I'm a little bit older than you, but I'm
going to hit the gym as well, and all y'all
should be hitting the gym. It's good for you. You'll
live longer and take good care of yourself, especially when
you start getting in your forties. It's important, That's what
I say.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
I have a gym membership, but I don't know about
all that other stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
You know, now you gotta stay. I like to drive
by it and go.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
You know, I'm a member there.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
That's what I like to do. No, get lifted, get lifted.
All right, let's get right into it. First things first.
I wouldn't say I'm a sneaker head, but I do
have a small collection of really nice shoes that I
wear if I go out with my lady for dinner
or if I'm going to go to a premiere and
they're They're usually Jordan's or something unique that looks like

(01:49):
a sneaker.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Right.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
I don't like wearing fancy like dress up shoes. That's
that I had to go wear those in church, and
I always hated dressing up for church and corduroys and
all that crap. So I have a few pairs of shoes.
You have a shoe that is coming out that I
asked you off camera if I could have full disclosure.
I've already seen it and it looks sick. You are

(02:10):
the very first wrestler to come out with their own shoe.
Unless I'm mistaken in my knowledge of wrestling history. Are
you a sneakerhead? Where did this come from?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Hold on right there for one second.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Oh, he's a sneaker head because he's about to bring
in something.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Freddy's asking about the shoe itself. I'll just give you
the man who actually designed him. Oh, snap from scratch
right here, garments right here, So I'll let him explain everything.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Better, Welcome to the show. Man.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
What's your name? Yeah, nice to meet you, man legend.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Nice to meet you too. Man. Tell me your name though,
so I get it right.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
I'm flashed garments, I'm swears writing man, and I did
his theme song for Way Together.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah that's me.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Okay, So hold on hold. So you're doing music and
your and Jeff doing the I'm not a dance now. First,
let me ask you about the music first. How did
it make you feel the first time you saw the
entire audience doing the dance surreal.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
It was like a fake. Yeah, it seemed fake.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
It seemed fake.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
In reality, like because it just happened so fast when
everybody started engaging and being a part of it.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
It's like, Ine, that's why wrestling fans are the best.
They'll jump on something that they like and they'll they'll
run with it.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
I agree, Oh yeah, wrestling songs are iconic. Man, They'll
you can turn off the music and they'll know every
word within a week of the song out.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
Man there, and if it's good enough, they don't care
if they hate the wrestler they're in it. Like, if
it's good enough, they'll be like, I hate this guy,
and then they'll say the exact same thing, and they're
doing the dance.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
They know the lyrics. You're like, wait a minute, let's
talk shoes.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
I was telling Swerve. I'm not as I wouldn't say
I'm a sneaker head. I'm not Jerry Ferrara, but I
do have some fancy sneakers that kid's got a collection.
I have some fancy sneakers that I like that I
wear when I take my wife out or if I
go to a premiere or something like that. Because I
don't like wearing dress shoes. Talk to me about the
origin of the first shoe that a wrestler has ever
come out with in the history of professional wrestling.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Well, the origin of this shoe. It all came from
like so when we first started talking about it was
a while ago. It was like turnbuckles, like the material
of like the green and stuff like that. But then
I was like, I wanted pieces of me and him
in it. And when I was designing it, the little, small,
little majority of his shoe was all about Swerve and

(04:26):
his style of things and the colors he likes to
wear and his military background with this type of material
that's here, And then you got the flashiness with my
name Flask Garments, with the gator esque you know, vegan.
You know, we got to make sure it's vegan, but yeah,
we got the vegan and then we got the garment's
logo here, my logo, and then we got Swerve's logo here.

(04:49):
And Mash was the guy who put it all together
and simplified my design. He's the designer who put the
whole thing together. So mans is like a shoe, customized it,
but he ended up becoming making his own silhouette, and
then I reached out to him. He was like, it
would be dope if he did it together, and he
was I told him about Swerve, but he didn't know anything.
I told him about Swarth prior to this even happening,

(05:12):
and then he started seeing him come up and he
was like, Hey.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
It will be a good time if you used to
do it. Now.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Is this the first shoe you've designed or is this
something that you It's the first show I've ever get,
the first I ever deigned.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, yeah, like the three m pops. This is just
the beginning though.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
This is just like phase one, and it's just like
you know, when Michael Jordan did that first one, Tinker
Hatfield did that Jordan one. I think this is the
beginning of it because he when he wrestled in it,
that was like all new. He wrestled in that. We
didn't wear testing.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
Yeah, he wore tested and one in them, which is crazy.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Flash. I asked you about the music and the answer
was surreal. What is it like to watch Swerve Strickland
hit his finisher the Swerve stomp on Samoa Joe in
your shoes?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
A dream? So jealous?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
I never get jealous I'm so jealous right now. This
is the first shoot you ever designed, and this is
a championship match and the finisher is with your shoes.
It's not like you hit him with a backbreaker or
something like. It's all about the shoes. Man. That's amazing
to Yeah, I'm so freaking jealous almost.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Because it's the moment. You know what a moment reminded
me of.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
It reminded me when they were like pitching the Michael Jordan' shoot,
the first shoot when he jumped from the finish line.
Imagine how simple that was to promote it, and you
were like, Oh, I want to be like Mike.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
I want to be like this swear.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
We's been like such an influence to the kids and
people trying to do things and him being at first
doing it, he ends up doing that with his shoe.
I'm like, that's the dream, that's the dream man.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
It makes me.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
And what a visual you guys have now to show
that shoe off when you're ready to bring it out,
because you can literally show that in slow motion of
him flying off the top rope and the shoes and
it's like a commercial without even being a commercial because
it actually happened, just like with Michael Jordan and his shoes,
like you were actually watching him take flight. This is

(07:20):
so I did not think we were going to be
talking about shoes this long. This is so cool to
me and I'm so jealous and it's an absolute pleasure
to meet you flash Man.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
It's a pleasure to meet you too. Man, this is
a legendary conversation. They're gonna look back at this and I'm.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Like, whoa, Man, I'm jealous of you. I don't know
what you're talking about, your legend.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Man. Well, thank you so much for being a part
of the show. Man. Yeah, we'll have to have next
time we have Swerve on. You gotta come back to Yeah,
we got so much.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
You want to talk, We got new music, We got
a lot of stuff, man, Me and him and were
taking on the world together a lot of ways.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Best of luck to you, man, congratulations. Yeah. I don't
normally get jealous, but I'm way jealous of your partner there.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Man.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Hey, man like that.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Man's like, like I said, solely but surely changing my
life one day at a time.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
So you also mentioned music. Man, you're not going to
change up the Swerves song, are you? Already. You can't.
You can't change it up yet one day it might
have waited, but are you We just we just got
out of the studio with bun Bee and getting the feature.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
He just dropped the feature for the big pressure swerve
trill next like a trill down South Houston vibe to
it and with the legend Bumby himself. So he's gonna
hop on there like he already hopped on it. The
track's done. We just mixing it, getting it done, and
then we'll go on figure out a plan to shoot

(08:43):
this music video to it, and that's then it's gonna
take it up a whole nother not.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Is there anything else that we haven't touched on that
you would like to talk about before we thank you
and say goodbye. Is there anything that I that I
slipped over that I shouldn't have?

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (08:58):
No, man, this this Sore City podcast right now just
went up like two hundred slots on iTunes Nice Apple Podcasts.
I think in the US it went up two hundred
slots and now was like eighteen as of last week.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Since weekend, I've won the championship.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
It went up two hundred slots and it's beating out
like Ryan Seacrest and MTV and pH one. It's beating
out a lot of those guys for music interviews category.
So that's a major jump. And we just had Adam
Copeland on last week and actually he's the man. We're
filming this now. We have the Osprey episode dropping actually,
so I'll be out by the time you hear this.

(09:36):
Then that's that's like a lot of people, like a
lot of people don't understand like how deep some of
my relationships go with some of these wrestlers. And that's
kind of cool. You don't know until you actually listen
to the interview. Like me and Osprey has been like
brothers for like over ten years. That's been like a
little brother than me. Yeah, but like I met him when.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
He was nineteen eighteen years old as the first time
I wrestled him. I got photos of him still I
found on my phone.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Of our first ever interaction and we're just two skinny
little kids in UK of this gymnasium and he was.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Like a cocky, arrogant dude. That was like, I love
this kid. I love him. So we talk about that
on the episode.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
The podcast is just bumping, so YouTube dot comback slash
Sworst City podcast like no other podcasts out.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
There like it. We're getting great reviews from the fans.
Thank you for supporting us for this long. Continue to

which will have the remix to Big Pressure feature on

that's coming out soon, so y'all be able to download it.
Let's do it whatever you want to. And that's not
just gonna be a YouTube exclusive. Get being shot next week.
We got to Suit the music video. I think we
got up next, f them up, and we got Motion Sickness.

(10:44):
We got so much going on. The documentary series coming
out from the whole story of me becoming the first
African America aw World Champion, filmed by the Lucas Brothers Academy.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
Award brother Lucas Brothers, good boys.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Great guys. So they've been around that.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
They were there in Dynasty in Saint Louis, they've been
there at World's End, they've been there at Revolution, They've
been from a NonStop since Full Gear. So we're still going.
We still got a live story to tell showing flashy
side of things the hip hop world merging with the
rest of the world, showing that some red carpets coming
up as a world champion.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
All in is going to be very special.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
When are we gonna get a Swerve video game?

Speaker 2 (11:19):
You know, man, that's a big job. That's a big job.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
I'm trying to figure out what your video games are
not like going out of business right now.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
I'm like, yous, Nope, can't use them. I claim no,
can't use them.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
I'm like, oh god, man, So I'm like, who's still
alive right now? Like Rockstar would be the perfect one.
But that's really like, that's like, yeah, that's up there.
But yeah, so there's a whole lot going on and doubling.
Nothing's coming up around the corner of Vegas. May twenty six,
go make sure you check that out. And Dynamite Wednesday
Night said eight pm Eastern.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Time, May twenty six, I might actually be in Vegas.
Oh yeah, you gotta shrill out, yo, I might actually
be there. If I'm there, I'm coming too. The responsibilities
of a champion, you are more than capable of them.
You have added a million more responsibilities on top of
the ones of a champion already and your shoulders are
broad enough to carry it all. Man. I'm so grateful

(12:10):
to see you back here on the show again. Thank
you for the promise that you made, and thank you
for keeping that promise when you said you'd be champ
and then became champ. I think you're a huge role
model for young kids watching pro wrestling, and I think
you're an impressive for all us old farts to watch wrestling.
You're just an impressive individual.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Man.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Got to hit the gym to broaden them shoulders that
much more.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Ben, thanks for doing the show. We'll talk to you again.
You're the best swarf always.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
