Speaker 1 (00:00):
On today's episode, we're talking about the latest trailers and
more It's news. Hello, my name is Jason Mususium and

(00:23):
I'm Rosy Night, and welcome back to x ray Vision,
the podcast where we dive deep into your favorite shows, movies, comics,
and pop culture Company from my Heart. We're bringing you
three episodes a week, plus news.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
It's News plus news. It's news Today it is. And
In today's previously on episode, we are catching up on
the biggest peek news of the week, including a DC
true crime series in the looks at HBO featuring Jimmy Olsen.
Wow sounds good. Plus a collection of the biggest trailers
and a couple of headlines you need to know about.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
First up, trailers, Let's start with the new Wicked four
good trailer. This one highlighting the friendship between Yes, the
Wicked Glinda and Alphabah.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Freak trailer beautiful can't wait?

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah it looks beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yes, alphabet very interesting naming convention by the author of
the original Wicked book. It is named on L. Frank
Baum Alpha ba. That's why she is caught. That, that's
why the Wicked Witch? Where where she got her name? Yes?
I love this The first Wicked movie. This looks gorgeous.
It's giving sappik, it's giving homo erotic, it plays for good.

(01:30):
One of the best songs ever written from this called
Stephen Schwartzhee Legend. Yeah, it's gonna be great. Can't wait
for it? Will it make a billion dollars?

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Let's see the first one got pretty close. Next up
the new trailer for season two of Fallout. This one,
of course heavily based on Fallout New Vegas, and you're
getting all that New Vegas stuff in this wonderful trailer
for this show.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
And also crazy casting. I did not know mcaulay culkin
was gonna be in this. I love justin thru in this.
He's so good. He's gonna play Robert House, who's kind
of the ruler of the New Vegas strip. I think
that's great casting. We'll also get some very good Ella
and the Ghoul stuff here, so the Ghoul girls will
be happy. They're definitely finding their way to to make

(02:20):
friends as they try and survive together. Yeah, I'm I'm
so interested in seeing where this goes. Can they keep
up the quality of the first season? I think so
because also New Vegas is easily like the most famous,
most popular among like fours, it's got it's got a
passionate fan base, so I feel like if they get

(02:42):
it right, it could be an even bigger hit for them.
So yeah, it looks great, can't I see it gonna
be some crazy battles, some crazy fortifying, some mystery when
I'm covered, I'm.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Sure definitely one of our surprise shows of last year.
Up next, Monarch Legacy of Monsters Season two on Apple TV.
Apple TV's a big bet on sci fi continues with
the second season of Monarch Legacy of Monsters, and we
get some handheld like, you know, kind of like early

(03:13):
two thousand's feel Kaiju feel on this clover Field kind
of vibes very clover Field.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
There's people out surfing and they kind of get attacked
by these octopus like kaiju that jump out of the sand.
We get see returning characters like Keiko, which is very exciting.
We didn't know if we'd get to see more of her,
so they're still obviously going to do the double timelines.
We do get a confirmation recently that Kurt Russell will
be returning, so that's great. We love to see him

(03:45):
and why this so much and I just think this
show is so fantastic. I think it's very underrated, and
I'm feeling extra excited about it because I just there's
some really cool stuff coming this season, and there's going
to be some more cool stuff coming in the Monster US.
So yeah, I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
And then finally the trailer for to the trailer Really,
which is kind of like a just kind of a
snippet of a scene of the upcoming film good Luck,
Have Fun, Don't Die, the wacky time travel story that
is said in La in which we see a time traveler,

(04:25):
a kind of disheveled time traveler, show up and a
diner and try to enlist people in whatever mission he's
up to.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
And it's Sam Rockwell.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
We love him, Sam Rockwell, who we love I hope
he dances in this and it and it's giving like
reverse fallout vibes. I am excited for this. I'm like,
was not. I've seen the title like thrown around in trades.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I think a lot of people have thought about it,
being like they thought about oh yeah, go vibinski looks cool.
We've had about it, but we didn't really know what
it would be about. This looks like it could be
a little breakout.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Well, I completely agree and listen Gore Verbinski. You know
him from his work on you know, the Pirates franchise
probably the most, and have forgotten his incredible adaptation of
Ringu with two thousand and two, The Ring terrifying.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
He also did Cure for Wellness, super creepy.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
We as the Lone Ranger, which we can forget.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
About, Yeah, delete it.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
But he's got a visual palette, right, a very cool
like flat shadows, crushed highlights kind of look to his
films that I've always like, really really loved, particularly with
his with the Ring adaptation. I mean, like all his
movies look great.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
No, but The Ring is like a really that's a
really scary, rag good adaptation of a Japanese horror movie. Too,
like it managed to launch its own franchise. It was
not as good, but just off the quality of that
first movie, which is so scary and really established that
kind of blue hue that would go on to be
in Like, yeah, a lot of the horror movies saw

(06:13):
Twilight hilariously, Like it really does have a very specific
look to it, and I'm excited to see what he does.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I'm really excited that was this trailer got me hyped up?
Next new DC crime series in the works at HBO Max.
It is a Jimmy Olsen crime show.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Yes, he will be hosting it.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
From the creators of American Vandal. The first few season
will be focused on Gorilla Grod And you know, it
looks like we're getting a Daily Planet extended universe with this.
If this even goes with the announcement of the Jimmy
Olsen lead series coming to HBO Max, we think we

(06:54):
think I'm very green lit and we'll see.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Because not mean green lit, but the American Vandal jew
so good. I love American band or first two seasons
are some of the best seasons of TV we've gotten
in years, really thoughtful, deep, kind, hilarious gross TV. I
feel like the idea of a Jimmy Olsen hosted true
crime series that's in universe is such a fun idea.
I love this kind of stuff. I was writing for

(07:18):
about a year a really fun in universe DC comics
gossip column that was like a riot that was just
on the DC dot com website. Super fun DC dish.
I love this idea makes a lot of sense for
it to be a weirder character like Gorilla Grod, who
if you were a Flash fan of the TV show,
you are already very familiar with, but if you're not,

(07:39):
it's a Flash one oh six. He debuted in the
fifty nine May fifty nine so probably came out just
at the beginning of the year. John Broom common Infantino character,
and this is a perfect for like a week by
week investigation of Gorilla Grod because he has gotten up
to so many wild shenanigans, Like they could have so
much fun kind of getting into like who is Gorilla Grod?

(08:04):
Like if you haven't seen American Vandal, go back and
check out both seasons. They're incredibly incisive, well made comedies,
satirizing the Netflix era of true crime, but set within
a high school, so the crimes are really silly, like
who's drawing dicks on the wall? Or who is the
phantom Poopa who just like keeps diarrheering everywhere? Like they

(08:27):
sound really dumb, but they are so well done, so silly,
so incisive when it comes to how true crime is made.
So I would love to see them take something on
like this where they can use the fictional weirdness of
DC to make something that is also has something to say,
which we know Jim's Gun likes to have something to say.
So yeah, I think this is really fun and you

(08:48):
can expect to see probably some flash jokes in here.
You can probably see some Secret Society of supervillain stuff
because he was one of the founders. Maybe you'll see
like Vandal Savage. It could be a good way for
them to bring in lots of out that DC characters,
kind of like what Marvels Thart doing with she Hulk.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Yes, let's take a quick break. We'll be read back
with more news and we're back. Disney Plus is embracing

(09:27):
the generative AI movement and will allow users to generate
their own scenes from within the Frozen specifically Frozen three universe,
using AI. So basically the article in Futurism says quote.
While the exact details are still to be announced, Iager

(09:47):
suggested Disney Plus subscribers would be able to generate and
share content, including short form videos, and that it was
currently having productive conversations with AI companies to balance user
freedom with the need to protect the IP I think
that this is where we're gonna.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
We're headed.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Absolutely, we're headed, and I don't hate this.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
I think that this is my biggest read on it. Ultimately,
one Frozen three is not even out yet, so I
think it doesn't come out till twenty twenty seven. So
you could be looking at a situation where they essentially
allow certain assets to be used that people can use
to make their own Frozen stories to promote the film.
That's probably where this is going, and ultimately the money

(10:29):
will at least in some way it's gonna go back
to Disney, which means it will go back to the animators.
I think the biggest reason Disney is doing this is
they have realized that things like Sora, specifically Sora to
have kind of let the genie out of the lamp
to use a Disney phrase, and we can't put it
back in like they know that now on Sora, I

(10:50):
send them to the group chat all the time. There
are videos of Pixar movies that people have generated that
look like the Pixar style about a guy who's on
a hang over and decides he's going to take some coke,
or a Pixar movie of a woman being killed. Those
things exist online now, and I think for Disney it
is way easier to be like, hey, but what if

(11:11):
you could do the official version where there will obviously
be guardrails to protect the IP I would say at
the beginning, because I do also think this is Disney's
response to something that they have never been able to
put back into the magical. You know, bag is the
YouTube of the early days of kids YouTube, Disney did

(11:33):
not have any content on there, so a lot of
the content that became popular was people doing weird shit
with their characters, like pregnant Elsa, Elsa at the dentist,
all these things that kids watch in the millions, because
it was the way the SEO would show up was
to make them be doing these kind of weird, mundane
things or something that wouldn't happen, like them being pregnant.

(11:55):
But kids got to know these weird, trippy versions and
these fan made versions. So I wouldn't be surprised if
by twenty thirty there's like a version that allows you
to do weird of stuff without godrails. But I think
right now it's the kid's version of like Sora, and
it gives the power back to Disney to control what
people are doing with that.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Right, I think that this is going to be a
future revenue stream, and I don't hate it. If and
this will all be hashed out in future union negotiations,
work negotiations between Disney and creators and the various people
who work on this stuff. If that money is like
if whoever created ELSA, If that money some of that money,

(12:40):
in the form of royalties is rerooted to the exactly
and the trick or the voice actor who voiced it.
I voice is going to be used to generate this, right,
you can't have So as long as that money is
going to the people it should, I don't necessarily have
a problem with this.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
The woman who was one of the co creators A
Frozen is now also the head of Disney Animation, so
you know, there's all this kind of interior it's getting
back to them, and I prefer and this is the future, guys.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
I can see a world in which, like twenty years
from now, you would not do Twilight as a fan
fit that you write on a blog. You do it
in five second ten second scenes, and then.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Well those movies are really popular now, vertical movies where
it's like ten to fifteen seconds each time. Ironically, Quibi
was ahead of its time and didn't know how to
do them right, that kind of trying to manship huge
in China, and they're starting to move over here, these
kind of short form stories that are actually acted and
scripted out and that people. I was watching a great
video about them. A guy was saying, he films, you know,

(13:44):
multiples in a day. Sometimes, Yeah, they just so they
just cut them up, you know. So this is definitely
I think you're right future revers new stream future promotional.
But also, isn't it interesting how far we've come from
the days of Disney and the Vault where they were
like so worried about them not seeming like a scarcity
or a rarity or diluting the brand that they wouldn't

(14:05):
you know, ever allow someone else to do something with
that IP apart from you know, a corporate sponsorship or
some made for TV movie that they're making money off,
like and those things still become part of that Disney canon,
to now being like, okay, well we have to dilute
the pool. Yeah, but dilute this pool that we are
giving you. And they're definitely gonna make specific assets that

(14:25):
are made for this that are not right that can
run on your TV and stuff, because that's the other thing.
I've been to Disney when they were making Frozen two.
I was invited to go and see them talk about
how it was made and like it took twenty five
people just to like be a team animating water. You
are not gonna get that level. Disney is gonna make
specific assets for Frozen three that you can use on

(14:45):
your TV that you can, you know, tell Elsa and
Anna to say happy Birthday to my sister or something.
I think that's where we're gonna be. But yeah, crazy
time to be alive. If you'd have told me this
two years ago, I wouldn't have believed you.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Finally, let's leave you with these headlines Alien Earth for
our Alien Earth fans. Alien Earth renewed officially renewed for
season two as creator Noah Holly reups with a fresh
new overall deal with FX and Disney.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Dune Prophecy starts filming season two, which will be longer
than season one. Okay, hopefully it's one of those crazy
second season bing bang bosh like they're coming out. I
love the cost. Could it be good this season? Let's
hope so.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Casting news from Disney, Lauren Murray and Diane Morgan join
the Marvel series Vision Quest in Treating come to a
Disney Plus at some point in the future.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
I love that Bree Lawson and Benny Saftie cast in
Super Mario Galaxy. I love whoever is casting this show.
And it makes sense because this is written and directed
by the guys who well directed more so, but written
also by the guys who made Teen Titans Go, so
they've got good casting. But yeah, I love this hilarious, iconic.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
And we have a release date for Toy Story five.
It's coming June nineteenth, with Greta Lee voicing Lily.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Pad, essentially an evil iPad timing very timing.

Speaker 1 (16:02):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
