Speaker 1 (00:00):
On today's episode, we're talking about the tragic case of
the Ben Solo movie and more It's News.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Hello, my name is Jason Caetepsi.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
And I'm Rosie Knight, and welcome back to Extra Vision
in the podcast where we dive deep into your favorite shows, movies, comics,
and pop culture. Coming in from my Heart, where we're
bringing you three episodes a week, plus news and it's news.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
It's News. In today's Previously on, we are catching up
on the biggest geek news of the week, including we
always knew it was coming, but they had to wait
four years until the antitrust law timing had run out
on this deal, but Warner Brothers Discovery is officially for sale.
We will also be talking about the uh oh Counterstrike

(00:53):
two skins market fiasco that was pretty crazy.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
But first Jason tell us about Predator Badlands. Predator bad
Lands arrives on the Internet with a new international trailer
and folks, the Predator lare is expanding because we're getting
this is a trailer that I was definitely not expecting

(01:17):
this kind of trailer, Yes from Predator Badlands.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
May I give you my theory? Yes? Go see it
looks beautiful incredibly violent, incredibly action packed. Also, as you know,
Common had pointed out when we were texting about it,
didn't the last trailer that came out have the name
Final Trailer. Well, this is my theory. Earlier this month,
Predator bad Lands received a PG thirteen rating for strong

(01:42):
sci fi violence. This concerned fans as every other Predator
movie has always been R rated, including Prey, which was TBMA.
But guys, I'm gonna tell you the reason for this.
And when you watch the trailer you will see the
trailer looks very violent and very aggressive, but it literally
contains no human blood because there are no humans on

(02:04):
this planet. So unless it was gonna be peppered with many, many,
many curse words, unlikely it would have got that R rating.
And the thing I love from this trailer is like,
this looks crazy, like there are insane action sequences. We
learn that many Predators have been sent to this planet
before as essentially like the ultimate test to kill an

(02:24):
unkillable animal. This kid is going on his first ever
routine kind of hunt and he ends up here and
has to team up with a whale and utani synth
to make sure that he can survive and become the
first Predator to make it back alive. I am very
excited about this. Obviously I'm gonna have some connections to Alien,
but we'll have to wait and see. And yes, and

(02:47):
then the tagline, which I think is really fun, is
the ways of your kind are ways of violence. Either
you are hunted or you become the hunter. And I'm
guessing this is going to become our story of our predator,
who I know, they're not monster fuckers are going to
be loving because he's a little bit hunky. And yeah,
it looks great. Compway. I love these movies. Out on
November seventh, guys, so very soon.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
More Warner Brothers Discovery sale news, as it certainly appears
that the company is.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Preparing for bids.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
There are swirling reports of interest by Paramount Global. The
WBD board of Directors says it has quote initiated review
of strategic alternatives to maximize shareholder value, whatever that means.
And this is from reports in the Hollywood Reporter that
also said that the new Paramount owner, David Ellison, has

(03:36):
made a twenty dollars share twenty dollars twenty dollars per
share bid for Warner Brothers Discovery.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
This has been dismissed.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
And there are also whisperings that apparently the favored buyer
from the Trump administration is is sky Dance, and that
there were reports that the Trump administration and is basically
telling people, hey, uh, if you want to make a
bid for Warner Brothers Discovery and you are not sky Dance,

(04:06):
you're going to face an uphill battle with lots and
lots and lots and lots of hurdles to go through.
And if you are Skydance, guess what, go ahead and
just buy it because we're we're delighted to help you
acquire yet another media company.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Crazy.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
This is crazy stuff.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
I will say. I did see a positive note on this,
which was the WGA West. They did say they will
be fighting alongside federal regulators to stop this potential sale
because it is, you know, another step towards the monopoly
that we are already living in. But yeah, I mean,
this is crazy. I like that. I like that the Hollywood.
I like that the Raw Story article that revealed that

(04:47):
Trump was trying to kind of pressure people into letting
Larry Allison buy it was just like the quote was bonkers.
I agree, insane insane world that we are living in
right now, Let's see where it goes. My guess is
the Warner brother this movie hof does get sold to Paramount.
I'm not one hundred percent sure if about the other side,
it's going to be interesting to see.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Let's say a quick break when we read back with
more after this and we're back.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
So some some changes to the counter strike to item
digital item marketplace have essentially collapsed the digital item and
skins market, which is up to a two billion dollar
unregulated digital items market which you may have read about

(05:51):
in years past. Essentially, just to make it extremely simple,
you can earn through various means a digital items in
counter strikes, skins for your character, certain skins for guns, knives,
skins for knives, et cetera. And some of these are
very very rare, and players have been trading these back

(06:12):
and forth for really immense profits.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Like this has been a money This has.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Been a long running unregulated market with all the hallmarks
of an unregulated market, including price fixing and market manipulation,
et cetera. Well, Valve in a quote unquote small change
has allowed players now to trade more common items for
these directly for these rarer items, essentially lowering the price

(06:41):
of these items, and it has collapsed this unregulated market
in precipitous fashion. And people are very very mad because
there have been folks that have invested or you know whatever, invested,
have been making tens of thousands, wow and more amounts

(07:01):
of money from trading these items at a time, and
now they're mad. All of which is to say, I mean, listen,
and you've just seen what happens when you make money
in an unregulated marketplace. Yeah, where all of a sudden
the people have decided to regulate it.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
This is what I got to say. This is what happens.
And also, guys like I do not believe that nobody
saw this coming, because this is essentially it's been going
on for a long time. It's been coming on a
long time, and it's essentially a ripple effect of the
loop box stuff, which was such a big deal anyway,
with like having to buy loot drops and blah blah blah.
So you know, I feel like morally and ethically this

(07:40):
is a good idea, but I do understand why people
are upset, and I do think it's kind of crazy
that nobody there realized or maybe they did, and that
was the issue and that regulations.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
As an example of what the changes are, there is
a particularly rare knife called the Stiletto Swater that, according
to Eurogamer, was selling for six hundred and seventy one
British pounds on October. Wow.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Yeah, that's like a thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
And that's right, and that's like what these things have
been going for today. As of the time of this recording,
that skin can be had for just over two hundred
and twenty two pounds. Still crazy, but you see how
the value is really classic, I mean, and that's the.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Good of what it used to be. So yes, very interesting.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Lastly, a Ben Solo movie. Guys, we almost had it.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
In a quote to the ap Adam Driver said quote,
I was always interested in doing another Star Wars film.
Kathy Kennedy reached out. I always said, with a great
director and a great story, I'd be there in a second.
I love that character, I love playing him. He apparently
came up with a story concept to continue the Benz Store.
The Ben Solo story Arc shared that with Steven Soderbergh.

(08:53):
The great and prolific direction on Soderberg, who kind of
like sketched out an outline with Rebecca Blunt, screenwrider or
of Blood producer Rick Blund, pitched it to Lucasfilm president
Kathleen Kennedy, and long story short, it almost happened, but
now it's not gonna happen because Bob Iger and Alan
Bergman passed on it. They just didn't think that audiences

(09:15):
would buy that Ben Sola was still rough and.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Do we do not bring back in Bruce Palpatine?

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Whatever this off. I think what happened is they went, well,
we bought about Palpatine and people didn't like it. But
I'm dying. This is the role Ben Sol. It was
barely even dead. That motherfucker kissed someone and then just
laid on the ground. I would have loved to see this.
I think Soderberg is such an interesting pick. I also
love to hear Adam talking about this role positively because

(09:42):
I think for a long time it flung him into
the spotlight and it was a tough situation. And you know,
he was coming out of his apartment in New York
and kids were yelling at him, calling Mikaylo Wren and
it was very different. But I still believe that he
is the truest reason that those movies did so well,
because he brings a gravitas and like a power that
stays within that performance even when they start making mistakes

(10:05):
with other characters, like the way that they treated Finn,
who was my big draw John Boyega. I love to
hear that Adam loved playing the character, because I believe it.
I never forget in the first movie, which we know
lots of people, it's too much of a redo, blah
blah blah. I love Force Awakens. I think it's fun
in the moment where he and Hahn, his father have
the showdown. He brings a Shakespearean level of Thespian tragedy

(10:28):
to it that has me crying every single time, even
though I know what he's gonna do. Make this movie. Please.
I'm glad that someone with too much money has paid
for a plane that they flew over Disney Studios with
a banner saying save the Hunt for Ben Solo. I
think Hunt for Ben Solo is a great name. Come on,
Daisy's getting our own movie. Bring Ben Solo back and

(10:51):
we'll team him up with Finn. Finn and Poe can
finally get together. It's time, guys, let's rectify rise of Skywalker.

Speaker 1 (10:57):

into the first very soky, scary, gross episode of it.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
