Speaker 1 (00:00):
On today's episode news, We're talking about news, including on
Carpenter's thoughts on the recent buzzy body horror movie The Substance.
Oh Hello, my name is Jason getupsion, and on Merday Night,

(00:30):
and welcome back to ext revision of the podcast where
we dive deep to your favorite shows, movies, comics of
pop culture. Coming from my Heart, warre bringing you three
episodes a week plus.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
News plus news and Today's News is being recorded on
Halloween Friday, the October thirty. First, I am dressed as
a sexy Patrick with a screaming head from SpongeBob and
Jason is dressed as.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
A cool La cockroach and I love it. So you
know what.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
We will be catching you up on the biggest geek
news of the week, including oh my god, terrible news
for you. Jason's mom, Taylor Sheridan, is leaving Paramount Yellowstone.
Taylor Sheridan, He's leaving Paramount. We will be talking to
Jason's mom about this for a long time. We also
got a new Stranger Things trailer.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Guess what.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
They're all adults. It's weird and good news for gamers.
We got a couple of really fun, highly anticipated game
bits for us to talk about.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Two, let's start with the trailers. Stranger Things five gets
a new trailer. It basically shows our heroes, who are
now in their mid twenties, planning and carrying out an
assault on the upside Down and Vecnu's fortress. I think
this looks I'll say this did it. It appears that

(01:41):
they've upgraded the cinematography.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
For I was gonna say, I think that you can
feel that maybe you know, there's been things that people
love in every Stranger Things season, but I think they
really want to get back the kind of big prestige
TV conversation around it, because yeah, really cool, lots of
really interesting, fun cinematography tricks here, lots of good transitions

(02:06):
into the upside Down with kind of that three sixty
spinning camera who wants to live Forever by Queen the
song that I think they're currently trying forever you know.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
So Yeah, I mean it's everything you expect from Stranger Things, and.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Guys, we will be doing some Stranger Things prep for
you leading into the release of the new show. Also
makes sense because some of these are going to be
released on the big screen.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah, looks good.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Lots of Easter Eggs, Everyone's twenty five and Yeah, D
and D they love Indeed.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
David Harber by the way, looking a grizzled but vital
after his after his current castigation at the hands of
Lily Allen's most recent.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Album, Unbelievable Timing, does.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Not mention mister Harbor her ex husband, I don't think
legally yet ex husband's husband by separation whatever. It does
not name mister Harbor specifically in the album, but you
can read between the lines and it's pretty clear that
David Harbor be stepping out with.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Lots of baby, lots of stepping out, lots of ladies,
lots of accessories. This mouth is busy, the gossip. Unbelievable timing, gentlemen.
That man is a freaky gentleman. That was incredible timing
on Lily Allen's pot, Like you dropped this just before
Stranger Things. This is all Idien is going to be
talking about.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Record label. The record label knows what it's saying.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
The next guess what Animal Crossings New Horizon Nintendo switched
to edition, including updates for that new platform, and you know,
nothing nothing special in the in the trailer other than
a view of the slightly shinier graphics, and you don't
get any kind of specifics about what in particular there

(04:00):
might be new new objects.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, there's a couple of new moments here.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
We know that we will resetti famed beloved character who
would reset your game and get you in trouble if
you were trying to time travel by changing the dates
on your old animal crossing. He's back, but this time
he can clean your island so you don't have to
clean up those cockroaches when you come back. So basically,

(04:26):
I think they're trying to for five dollars. I know,
sorry Jason specifically targeted at you, but basically I think
they're trying to make the game fun again for people
who've maybe put it down. This great thing is it's
only going to cost five dollars to upgrade your or
copy of New Horizons to the Switch to version, which

(04:46):
comes with that higher, upgraded, less pixelated characters. And the
really cool thing is this is also going to be
a free update for people who are just using it
on the switch. So you were going to get a
Legend of Zelda character, you are going to get Splatoon characters.
There's going to be Lego collapse. It's going to be
a really big new open update, and I think this

(05:09):
is really cool because they people thought there was not
going to be another update. We were also worried about
if there was a switch to upgrade update it would
be you know, sixty dollars. So I love the affordability.
Sadly not going to be ready for Christmas, which I
think would have really had everyone playing it, but we will.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, they move at their own pace. They do it
when it's ready.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
And it looks like there will be a Happy Home
expansion at some kind of new hotel. And this will
be coming January fifteenth, so I will be looking forward
to playing this on release date.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
And I hope this incites a new era of.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Animal crossing, bringing some joy to people like it did
during twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Up next, Marvel Cosmic Invasion dropped a dev Diaries triler
basically telling you, so, what's the deal with this new game,
Marvel Cosmic Invasion? And it looks very interesting to me. Yes,
it's got that kind of retro styling feel of course

(06:08):
Marvel characters and IP with a kind of like anime dash.
It looks like, you know, the kind of four player
co op game that you might find in the arcade
in the nineties and two thousands.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
And yeah, it's giving Double Dragon. I'm into great, can't wait.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Tons of playable characters are gonna have Iron Man, Betay, Bill, Nova, Philavel,
Cosmic ghost Rider and that is actually demo now for
the PC on Steam and it will be coming on
December first, PlayStation four, PlayStation five, Xbox and Nintendo switched
Nintendo Switch to as well as PC, so hopefully we
can cross platform because it looks really fun. So this

(06:45):
will does. You may see me and Jason running around
beating people up.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Especially interesting because.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
It's based on the two thousands Annihilation run, which is
where a lot of our insurgency stuff comes from.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
So once again keeping it vital for Marble.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Folks, It's happened Paramount, the Paramount network that has been
shelling out millions and millions and millions of dollars Taylor Sheridan,
including bankrolling his personal branch where they shoot a lot
of the projects that Taylor is the showrunner on, including Landman,

(07:22):
including Yellowstone Couring nineteen eighteen. I think it is well,
Taylor said, thank you for all that, and I'm back here.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
He said, I'm out.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
NBC Universals has dropped a considerable bag on mister Sheridan,
who will now bring his right leaning Red State dramas
to the NBC Universal family of networks in a five
year overall deal for film, TV and streaming projects that

(07:56):
will begin January first, twenty twenty nine his deal with Paramount.
And so this man good lock like the next ten years.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
All right, like that is the world? Like four years.
That's very hopeful with the way the world is right now.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
I will say this is very interesting to me though, because,
in case you guys didn't know, Yellowstone was originally a
project that, unfortunately for them, Paramount had sold the.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Rights to for Peacock.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
So when Paramount launched Paramount Plush, they could not put
their most successful show, which was on Peacock own by NBCUniversal, Yellowstone,
onto their platform. So I'm sure this deal has been
ruminating for a long time. NBCUniversal understands how much money
and viewership Tyler Sheridan brings, even if he is a
I'm sure a handful to deal with.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
But yes, very interesting. I'm glad your mom.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
I thought this was much more near so I was
worried about your mum's ability to watch Yellowstone, but I
think this is fine. We can set her up with
a peacock account before twenty twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
And then finally, John Carpenter, who is in his his
old man yells at Cloud's phase and honestly he deserves it,
He's earned that hates The Substance. John Carpenter was asked
at twenty twenty five's fan Expo what he thought of
last year's kind of hit potty horror film, The Substance,
and he says, uh, what I like about it?

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Zero?

Speaker 1 (09:19):
He and asked to expound. He did not expound, but
he said basically, he hated everything about it.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Okay, listen, opinion exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
And also, this is why I would say, if you're
at a fan convention, you know, I would not lead
by saying like I love this thing. If you want
to talk about it, you know, because you never know
if you're going to agree on it.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
This doesn't surprise me because Coppinger.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Has had a lot to say about elevated horror or
the notion of horror now being some kind of recognizable,
award worthy thing in his general's genre.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Guy who gives a shit like it's always a genre guy.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
So I get it.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
And you know what, He's not the only person who
felt that way. And the great thing about horror is
there's something for everyone. And this is why we want
to have John Karpener on X ray Vision to talk
about basketball and video games. We will ask him no
opinions about horror because let that man live. He's already
made you some of the best. John Coben to come
on to you here and talk about video games and NBA.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
We love you.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Our next week's episodes of X ray Vision, we're diving
into episode two of it. Welcome to Derry, that's.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
