Speaker 1 (00:00):
On today's episode, we are talking Gremlin's three, the Miss
Piggy Movie, and more. It is News. Ooh Hello, My
(00:23):
name is Jason Cactepcio and I'm Rosey Night and welcome
back to xt Revision of the podcast where we dive
vive into your favorite shows we pop culture Coming from
my Heart. We'll bring you three episodes a week, plus
news and it is News.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
It's News. In today's previously on News episode, we are
catching you up on the Begouse news of the week,
including Chloe Jao and Nicholas Ganda creating live action manga
adaptations credit of Badlands box office preview. Wow, we got
so much stuff for you, let's talk about it.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
First up, new trailer for wonder Man, which is out
January twenty seventh, showing the lifestyle of a burgeoning superhero
and entertainer out in la We see Ben Kingsley repriasing
his roles from the MCU, of course, as the leader
Treva Slattery, the Great Trevor Slattery, formerly known as the
(01:17):
leader of the Ted Riggs terrorist group, which he was not.
But I love that. I am excited for the show
and I want it to be good. That is my takeaway.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I think the trailer looks really good. I'm excited to
see this kind of like Marvel metacometry about movies and
the making of movies and being an actor. This is
going back to I think what they did best with
one division, which is they made a show about TV.
So it makes sense that with Simon Williams, who has
that connection, they're going to make a TV show about
(01:50):
movies making movies. And I'm very interested to see how
Trevor plays into this. Obviously, love yayab Dolmatine, He's amazing. Yeah,
and Simon Williams is a great character, so yeah, I
can't wait to see that.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
The end of the trailer is really interesting, in which
we see Simon have to sign an NDA. What are
his further audience at home? Who's not Superverse down Wonderman?
Like what is Wonderman steel?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Okay, So the very interesting thing about this is there
seems to be some kind of law against superheroes being
in movies, So I think we could be seeing our
establishment of these kind of class systems that we've been
looking for. But Simon Williams basically another iconic you know,
Stanley Doneck, Jack Kirby, creation Avengers Number nine, nineteen sixty four,
(02:33):
and he has ionic powers, so he can use energy.
He's basically near and vulnerable, and the version that it
seems to be hinting at in the movie is that
he is not necessarily in control of those powers in
the show, and maybe when he gets emotional they kind
of expand out. It's an interesting thing because we've never
really seen Simon as a human first. We usually see
(02:55):
him as a hero first or a villain first, depending
on the version. So yeah, I I'm intrigued to see
where it goes and whether or not we get to
see him use his powers fully or if it's just
gonna be kind of like a little tease. But yeah,
he's essentially like a Superman style character, but he can
use ionic energy to fly, to fight, to punch through walls.
(03:20):
So he's just your your generic strong guy, and I'm
very interested to see what Yaya brings to that next.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Kloe Jao and Nicholas Ganda launched Kodansha Studios to create
live action adaptations from the world of manga. This is
tremendously exciting.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
The studio to produce live action movies and TV shows
using the IP library of Kodansha Comics, a Japanese manga publisher.
Kodanha publishes titles such as Akira, Ever Heard of? Attack
on Titan? Ever heard of that? Sailor Moon? Ever heard?
Speaker 2 (03:54):
I love this? Everyone knows I'm a huge Kloeho fan.
I think that she has got the range. I think
she's got the interesting insight and takes that need to
work with a Cadancer project. I'm still I doubt Chloe
Jao is banging down the door to make a Kira
the most unfilmable anime of all time by the legendary
(04:15):
A Tomo. But but Kadancher has an unbelievable catalog of
the coolest, weirdest anime sci fi, romance superheroes. They recently
did a hilarious range of DC Mango, which I cannot
recommend enough Like this is great. Kadancer's publication is amazing,
and it tells me that Kadancer wants to do something
good and interesting by hiring someone like.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Chloe Jaw completely agree up next Predator Bad Lance has
earned four point eight million dollars in previews before preview openings.
That's not bad. Here are the projections. Variety projects twenty
five to thirty opening weekend deadline twenty five to sixty globally.
This is twenty five domestic sixty globalbally. Now, if this
(05:01):
movie breaks the thirty five million opening thirty five million
opening weekend milestone, it will be the second largest opening
in the history of the franchise, after Alien Versus Predator,
which made thirty eight million domestically on its opening weekend
and was sadly not as good as everybody wanted it
to be. But Rosie your thoughts.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
I think I think it's going to open higher than this.
I think it could open as high as fifty. Jason,
you have seen the movie. We haven't had your takes
on it. Give us your credit to bad Lands reaction.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
My quick bad Lands reaction is it's one of the
best looking action movies I've seen. So good. It looks.
It looks good. There's a texture to it, something that looks.
It looks like wonderfully photo reel, but not in that
(05:52):
fake kind of oversea ged way. I don't know. Everything
looks dirty, everything looks grungy, and that's absolutely appropriate. The
creature design is great, Like it's so many it's really
it looks it's really good and really exciting. I am
going to predict I'm going to say it slightly overshoots
(06:13):
the coverage at forty.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I think that's fat. I think because it's a PG thirteen,
what of mouth could be good? People are going to
realize they can take that kids to it. I think
it could. Yeah, I think it could over index a little.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Let's take a quick break and movie back with Mornings. Yeah,
and we're back. Warners has announced that it is producing
Gremlins three, with your old favorites returning to produce Steven
(06:50):
Spielberg and Chris Columbus.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
The movie is set to release already released it release
date November seventeen, twenty twenty seven, our first Gremlins movie
in thirty seven years. Spielberg will ep, Columbus will produce indirect,
and they apparently already have a script by Zak Lapowsky
and Adam b Stein, who are the directors of Final
Destinations Blood Lines. So let's see. Okay, it means this
(07:17):
comedy real and I believe that this is probably gonna happen,
But the wording of the release leads me to believe
they have probably like a story outline, but not much else.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
That's why I was thinking, because otherwise I feel like
you'd probably have like a little log line or a paragraph.
But honestly, final destinations, bloodlines. We were all big fans
of it. Hit so silly, so fun. I think that's
the right tone for a Gremlins movie, though we will likely,
you know, tone down the blood and gore a little bit.
But yeah, I'm intrigued. Hopefully they're still using puppets. Nobody
(07:50):
wants to see a CG. Gremlin, especially after the beautifully
animated series they did on HBO Max two series by
Jay I believe, and it was really cute. So we
want to see either a nice animated movie or good
practical effects. No CG Gizmo please yes?
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Uh. And finally, Jennifer Lawrence was on the Lost Culturistas
pod this week, in which she casually announced she says,
I don't know if I'm allowed to announce this. I
firmly believe that this is a very planned.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Of course, there's no way, there's no way that he's
gonna just let you, like announce a Muppets movie.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
No. General, Lawrence announced that she is with alongside Emma Stone,
developing a Miss Piggy movie with Tony Winner Cole Escola.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Perfect perfect.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I wonder what this could mean, and I assume this
means that Jennifer would.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
No, no, no, they say Jennifer and Emma maybe in
the movie. I'm sure they'll be in the movie. I
think they're going to go for a classic Muppet style
setut where you have, like also Cola scolas O, Mary
is very much kind of a Muppet movie set up,
where you have your straight characters and then you have
your one crazy characters. So I'm guessing it's gonna be
Miss Piggy as the star, and knowing Cole, they'll probably
(09:13):
be like a hilarious twist. But yeah, I think this
is the perfect fit. I love the Muppets. I think
the Muppets are very underutilized. IP yes, could be constantly
be making brilliant, incredible stuff. I would assume for a
movie this big frank Oz is probably gonna voice Miss Piggy.
He's probably got it. Yeah, if you gotta bring Frankie back,
this is the thing. They got to pick a good genre,
(09:37):
so you could do like, you know, Miss Piggy in
Pride and Prejudice or something like something like that would
be really funny, like a timeline. It's some kind of
time play. But yeah, you're right, great Muppet Caper Banger,
all of those original movies, the Muppet Movie, Muppets from Space, like,
they're great movies and they should be making more of them.
So this to me seems like it's gonna happen. Fingers crossed.
(09:58):
It doesn't get forgotten in you know, the Hollywood kind
of whatever.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
But let's be real.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Emma Stone, Jennif Florence, there's some two pretty big names,
so hopefully we can make this a reality. On next
week's episodes of X ray Vision. On Monday, we will
be talking about it Welcome to Dry Episode three are
really fun deep dive, and on Tuesday we will be
exploring the first two episodes of the new Vince Gillinghen
