Speaker 1 (00:00):
Previously on Your Morning Show with Michael dil Choono.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Roy o'neili is here on your Morning Show, our national correspondent,
Meta has begun to cut thousands of jobs. Why to
focus on AI investment? You know, remember when in all
the futuristic movies the future was all controlled by robots.
Kind of sort of turned out that way only with AI,
didn't it.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
It seems to be falling into place that way. But yeah,
Meta is on a cutting spree. Four thousand employees are
expected to lose their jobs and the weeks ahead that's
about five percent of their global workforce. So this is
happening for people in Asia, Europe and the United States.
With that, again, the total of four thousand, they say
the money is going to be saved to pump into AI,

(00:45):
but a lot of this is also for show, because
you know, the companies want to look like they're getting
into AI too.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Well, that's a very interesting angle. I was going to say,
where's a rimshot when you need them? And how many
of these jobs being cut were replaced by AI? Well,
I thought that was going to be the punchline, but
you brought up something that's that's true because well, perception
is reality.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Right, Well, yeah, and Musk, I'm sorry Zuckerberg had boy,
there's something there.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Wells, Musk is thinking about buying one that's in the
news too.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Well, right, he made the bit for open ai and
they said, no thanks, we'll buy Twitter back for pennies
on the dollar. I thought that was a funny response.
But yeah, the it's disappearance to look like you're on
the cutting edge and investing in all this stuff. Because
Zuckerberg has been on this make Meta, lean and mean
push since twenty twenty three after getting overly bloated during

(01:38):
the pandemic. You know, the company's added a trillion dollars
in market valuation in that time. And again, you know,
they want to look like they're leading the charge on AI,
but that's not really where most people turn. Is meta
for that?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Vice President Vance of course, speaking at a forum, you know,
saying we have to keep AI unleashed for the future,
and I'm just wondering, you know, like a year ago,
two years ago, the narrative was AI is this big
Pandora's box that's been opened and it can't be put
back in. Careful what you're playing for now, all of
a sudden, we want no regulations. We want wide open

(02:10):
you know, western frontier of AI. Have we really thought
this through?

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Because Ms musk Is wants the guard rails more than anybody.
And you know, I was just listening to Dvance the
Vice President's speech and yeah, I mean he wants to.
He sort of slammed the regulatory nature of the EU,
but at the same time said that, you know, the
US is going to be a leader here, expecting seven
hundred billion dollars in global investment in AI in the

(02:37):
year ahead, half of that in the US.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
By the way, Royal chime in and say, I get that,
and that's a smart strategy. You want to be If
AI is the future, you want to be the leader
in it, just like if space is the future, you
want to be the leader in it. I get all that,
but what are you leading? I mean, you know we're
gonna get to a point. Some of the a I've
watched over the weekend was well, take the Jimmy Johnson feature.
I don't know if you saw it during the Fox pregame,

(03:00):
actually brought Jimmy Johnson back to life as a high
school player a college player. It ends with the high
school player handing a football to the old man version
and you know it's unrecognizable. But I mean, we're gonna
get to a point where we don't know what's real
and what isn't. I mean, you're gonna have world leaders
saying awful things. I mean, I've seen some of the
conspiracy theories online about how they can project into the

(03:21):
sky images and you know, weird one of the weird
viral Have you even seen this, Roy The conspiracy theory
that like in the world of Islam, they'll do Mohammed
in the sky. In America, they'll do Jesus in the
sky and they'll all tell you, you know, and usher
in the anti Christ that kind of thing. But you know,
as crazy as that may be as a conspiracy theory,

(03:45):
it is technologically possible. I mean, what are we really
opening the door to without any oversight? For me, loss
of reality is going to be the biggest thing because
we're not gonna know what really was said was right.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
If you're skeptical about everything, it's gonna be oh challenge.
Roy's going to be back, by the way, in the
third hour, We're going to talk about employer's worst fear,
revenge quitting.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Miss a little Miss a lot, Miss a lot, and
we'll miss you. It's your Morning Show with Michael del
