Speaker 1 (00:00):
During an interview with Extra and the Hollywood Reporter, Eddie
Murphy talked about canceled culture. He says, I can't think
of a comedian that said a joke that made them
get canceled. I feel like that whole canceled thing was
just a moment in time where people were like, comics
have to be careful what they say. Eddie also said

(00:20):
that he might return to stand up. I'll take a listen.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I've seen a couple of comedians. I've seen a funny Dah.
I saw him up. He was doing stand up and
he fell out on the stage. So comics was falling out.
I was like, never going out. But that's all past now,
and now I'm open to it again. And if it
ever struck me that I could have some fun doing it,
I get up there and do it again. I just

(00:44):
have to one day wake up and be like, hey,
it seems like a fun thing to do.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Okay, all right, so Tommy and Junior, you guys are
out almost every week. What do you think I would.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Cancel?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Okay, cancel culture? We past that, yeah, I mean you're
still doing stand up.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
We're still walking that line. Were still walking that the
in line with this whole counsel thing. We still we still,
we're still not touching on certain subjects. So let's trust me.
It's still some subjects out there. We are you, Oh yeah, definitely.
I can't mess up nothing. I can't. I got TV show.
I ain't messing up nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I'm not since myself.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
I'm just not talking about that. Everything else I'm live.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
I'm going live on my life.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
I think counsel culture is still real personally. I think
you don't agree with that. Well, no, it's not that
I disagree with Eddie. I understand where he coming from
from from hisself. But because Eddie's not tied to anything
that you can counsel, what you're gonna cancel Eddie doing? Look,
so he he has a different perspective. Now, if there's

(01:56):
a comedian today who is on TV on radio doing
movies that says any of the stuff that Dave Chappelle
said in his two Netflix specials.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
You're okay, You're gone.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
So, but I agree with what Eddie's saying is I
ain't heard the comedian say nothing that he should be
canceled for. I ain't heard nothing that you should be
canceled for.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
So do you think so you're saying that isn't it?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Though?

Speaker 5 (02:31):
With cancel culture, you can be canceled regardless of if
you have a sponsor deal. You know, if you're on
teav Yes, absolutely, So you see what I'm saying. You
can get canceled altogether. And people if.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Your if you have right, if you have anything that's
sponsorship driven, you are in the lane of the councel culture. Now,
if you're not sponsorship driven, that what he said. If
you're not, tom Tommy can go out head and say
what he wants to right, and.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
So do you. So my question is, so with you
forget sometimes we have to remind you every minute, but
Tommy remind him every now. But is there What I'm
saying is if you don't have that, you could be
a big time comedian star and not have these network deals.

(03:26):
You could still be canceled. Correct.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
James Chappelle can't be canceled. Bill Burr can't be canceled.
That's great stand ups. Yeah, but they can stay, they
say whatever they want to say. They can't be canceled
because they're subscription based, not sponsorship based. They can't cancel you.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
What I'm saying is people not skill what I'm saying
is people, your audience can cancel you.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
I understand what you saying.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
That's what I'm but.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
But but but but who has had that happen? Everybody?
Everybody has had everybody has had a particular audience that
has been mad and something you said, I got in
trouble before with little people got I got in trouble
with that, the studio, with Asian people before. I've been

(04:23):
in trouble with everybody.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
He got interpret with build a bell.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
See that's not a person that's sponsor everybody, it's everybody.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Everyone.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
