Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Ellen DeGeneres has returned to doing stand up comedy with
her Ellen's Last stand Up tour that kicked off last
week in West Hollywood. On stage, Ellen did a lot
of reflecting on how tragically her talk show Ellen ended.
Back in twenty twenty two. Ellen told people that she
got kicked out of the business because she is quote mean,

(00:21):
and it took a toll on her self esteem. She said,
quote people either love you and idolize you, or they
hate you, and the haters, somehow are louder. You say
that all the time. Steve Ellen said that she loved
her talk show yeah, and that this was not the
way she wanted to end her career. So good for her,

(00:41):
we say, for returning to stand up and putting it
all out here. But the cancel culture is very real.
It's all too real. So Steve, I know you're sad
about this. Tommy, Yeah, you love Ellen, but Steve Ellen
is your friend. You and Ellen are are friends. So

(01:02):
you have any advice for Ellen.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
She's going with your life. You got good life. Damn
that show. She got plenty of money. Yeah you how
many shows I have had counsel? Just get out? You know,
she loved it. But I understand she got put out though,
because they said she was mean and it was a lie.
The girl ain't mean. She's one of the nicest people

(01:25):
I have ever met. You know, if you said they gonna
put me off because I'm mean, I'll be going, oh, well,
all right, well I guess I had a nice run.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
But I mean, you said you've been put off a
lot of shows. But she said she was put off
and it messed with her self esteem.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
You know, no, man, see it. Listen when when NBC
counseled little big Shots and the talk show at one
time two hits but to be trifling to me? Now,
the guy that did it, he gone, he's nowhere to
be fine. I'm still here, So and with with with

(02:08):
with different opportunities presented. Because of that, Ellen has different
opportunities in front of her. Now. I'm pretty sure she
was venting as a stand up because that's what we do.
So she was just venting about it. But you know,
it ain't really you know, Ellen is fine, y'all, don't.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Even about that. Come on, Tommy, come on, but I don't.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Time to get into it. But isn't it kind of
different for Ellen? You said you got canceled. It was
an executive decision, and I guess for Ellen it was
her reputation and the people the pressure. Yeah, we didn't
know at the backlash, yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
You know. She was surprised at the hate, yeah, that
she was getting and unsolicited. A lot of people can't
handle hate.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Why are they calling her mean though? Why because she.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Can't about everything? Why do people go on podcasts and say,
somebody ask him to be a king of comedy?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
You know?

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Okay, all right, that clears it up for me.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
To say something too, So thank you.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Coming up thirty four minutes after the hour, our girl
sister Odell will be in the building. Right after this,
you're listening Morning show

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
