Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, it is the last break of the day
on this what it's Thursday?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Thursday? Yeah, went with.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Five pretty fast tonight. Mm hmm NBA Finals y'all watching
the game. Junior talked about that earlier. Okay, all right,
we got an email. Lady wants some advice from social media.
She wrote us on Steve Harvey FM. Her name is Nicole.
Nicole says, my sister graduated from high school last year
(00:30):
and did a year of community college, but decided it
wasn't for her and quit after two semesters.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
She wanted to get out of.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Our hometown, so I let her move in with me
and my boyfriend. She has gotten a job, but it's
going nowhere, and she has no ambition or desire to
better herself. I know she's only nineteen, but I feel
like she's wasting her life away. I want her to
do something that she can feel passionate about.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
How can I help.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Her to start thinking about the future and finding something
fulfilling to do.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
What advice do you have?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Well, in order to do something that you're passionate about,
in order to do something that you wake up excited
to doing, you're gonna have to perform in some capacity
that pertains directly to your gift.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
If you're doing what you're gifted to do, you will
be passionate about that. I think what happens to young
people is you go to college and decide you want
to do this and that. But you're asking these young
people to make a decision about their life when they
don't have the skill set yet.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I don't know a whole lot.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Of people who go to college to get a degree
that end up working in the degree. Now, degrees are
helpful and useful, they really really are. Education is paramount
to a lot of people's success. That's important. Every successful
person is not tied to a degree. You know, it's
(02:06):
nothing I could have gotten a degree in that would
have turned me into who I am today. But you
have to sit young people down and talk about their
dreams and visions. That's the only thing that will spur
them to greatness is the pursuit of your dreams, goals,
aspirations and visions. That is what spurs you on to greatness.
(02:26):
If you tell a person just do something, go get
you a job, Go get you a job, what you're
telling them to do is just go get you and
make yourself some money where you can survive on it.
But people don't want to survive. People want to thrive.
People don't want to exist. People want to live. Look, man,
(02:48):
I don't want to just wake up every day and
be miserable. I want to wake up excited about today, man.
And you know it changes the dynamics when the word
say come out your mouth change. I have to go
to work today. I have to go down here with
these people. I have to pay these bills. I have
(03:09):
to go down here and try to get this car fixed.
I have to when you are doing something you're passionate about.
I wake up and say, I get to.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Do radio today.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
I get to go and be on TV today. I'm
going to get a chance to go down here and
get me a car today. I get a chance to
come and work with some really cool people man, that
I absolutely like, and it ain't hard to be around them.
I get to do that because I am living in
my gift and my passion. If you own a job
(03:46):
that you don't like, it's hard to be passionate about it.
If you go to work and the work ain't what
you really want, hard to be passionate about it, hard
to be passionate about it something you ain't getting paid
your value for. Hard to be passionate about a check
that's only gonna get you live.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Let you live good enough to make it to the
next check.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Take your system, Sit her down and ask her what
are her dreams and aspirations.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
See, we don't do that with our young people enough.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
And even if you, as a parent haven't really fulfilled
your mission in life or your dreams or your visions,
that don't mean your children have to follow in your footsteps.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
You can break the cycle in your family.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
You can assure that one of them finally does what
they really want to do with their life. And it's
okay that they don't make a million dollars, but you
want them to be excited about something. You want them
to feel good about themselves when they wake up in
the morning to go do work. That's what you want
to do. So I would sit her down and talk
(04:59):
to her about that. It's not that she's lazy and
she's unmotivated because she hasn't found the thing that will
motivate her. But the one thing that will motivate you,
no matter who you are and how old you are,
start start chasing your dreams. Start start chasing what you
(05:21):
gifted at. If you chase your dreams and your gift,
and you become passionate about those two things, the future
is yours to hold.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Now, Listen to me. Don't get this confused.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Don't chase something you passionate about and that's not your gift.
I had a lady in family feud, raised her hand
and said, I've always wanted to be a singer, and
I heard one of your motivational speeches, and I'm gonna
go be a singer. But I'm forty nine years old,
and I don't know where to start. Listen to me.
(05:59):
If ain't no, nobody asked you to sing nowhere and
you forty nine, you're not a singer. If you ain't done.
I actually, as last said, have you done anywhere and now?
But I just want to be a singer. I say,
have you ever sang anywhere?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
No?
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Then you're not a singer. But I'm passionate about it.
You're not gifted at it. The Bible says your gift
will make room for you and put you in the
presence of great men. That's what your gift will do,
all right, follow them, dreams, follow your guilt to come passionate.
(06:35):
Those are my clothing locks again. I hope you'll have
the creat day today. Talk to God, he'd absolutely love
to hear from you.
