Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, guys, here we are last break of the
day and to take us home. It's the one and
only Steve Harvey that you.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Know something this is I don't think I've done this
many times on the show before. I've done so many
clothes remarks, but I don't think I've touched on this.
You know. The best advice I can give a person
be yourself. Be your unique individual self. See, you can

(00:29):
hold that line of being yourself. You can stay true
to the course of being yourself. It's hard to fake
it for a long time. That's why when you get
a job at the post office or the government or
any other place that has benefits to it, before they
give you a benefit package, they have a ninety day

(00:51):
probation period because in that probation period they're gonna find
out in the discovery process of who you really are. Now,
you can put whatever you want on that application, but
in that ninety day probation period, it's when they discover who.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
You really are.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
See, if they really believed everybody's application, as soon as
you got the job, they would just give you full benefits.
But that's not how a lot of companies work. They
waited out and the best way for you to be
successful in this life is to be yourself. Be uniquely
you know who you are. Establish some rules about yourself.

(01:32):
If you have decided that you don't drink, then don't drink.
If you decided that smoking ain't for you, then stick
to that. Stop letting everybody sway you off the white
line that you've created for yourself. It's okay, and understand
what you do and who you are. Do you understand, man,

(01:53):
that if you stay authentically you, people are attracted to
people who are genuine and sincere. After a while, man,
people get tired of you when what you say never
adds up to what you do. We gonna have a
problem with you after awhile I found that to be

(02:13):
the case. Man, what you say and what you do
has to sink and job because that's who you really are.
So stay authentically. Oh man, I don't know. I'm against
I'm against people who drink a lot. And every time
they with you you drinking, you can't what are you
talking about? I don't like liars, but every time you

(02:35):
talking to somebody you lying to them. You don't think
they can see this? Stay authentically, know who you are.
You know I would. At the Democratic Convention, I watched
my brother dal Hughley do extremely well. He was clever,

(02:55):
he was thought provoking, and I listened to do showed
Deal is my brother. Deal at the times can be profound.
Deal's vocabulary is extensive from the background that he has
and if he hasn't told you this, I'll have to
let him tell it. But from the background he had,
the way he is now, it's really amazing what he's

(03:18):
done to hisself, you know, education wise.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Right.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
So even when we were on the Kings of Comedy tour,
a lot of times they were interviewing us, we would
have DL take the lead on the interviews because we
enjoyed the way he talked. I tend him a text
after the Democratic Convention. I congratulated ourself. Was proud of you, man,
you did really.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Really well.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I've watched him, but I know that that's not what
I do, and I've come to that in my life
and it's okay. What I am good at is being
authentically me. These closing remarks are mine, They're not written down,
they're not stole, and it's just me speaking the way

(04:02):
I speak, and I speak from a very very common perspective.
If you don't understand what I'm saying is because my
mental process is all over the place that day. But
for the most part, I speak very plainly. You know,
it's not beautiful to listen to me talk. I find
it beautiful to find out what I think. But I

(04:25):
don't think it's that beautiful to hear me talk. But
I think what resonates with people with me is my authenticity.
And be authentic to yourself. Know your brand. Stand for
something you hear people say all the time. Now stand
on business or do that? Find out the business you in,
find out who the business you are, and stand on

(04:48):
that and stay right there. You know, it's amazing.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Man.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
When a hook up with my college friends, it's fifteen
of us. We get together every year, it's fifteen of us.
It's all me and we get together and they are
understanding of who I am, and I'm understanding of who
they are. And they said, man, love, you ain't ever

(05:13):
changed in fifty years. I'm not sitting up in here.
They've never seen me drunk. There is not a living
soul who can put their hand on the Bible and
say they saw Steve Harvey drunk. You don't exist. There's
not a living soul can put their hand on a
Bible and say I saw Steve Harvey getting high because
you didn't. That was the brand, and I've stood on

(05:37):
that now. That don't make me better than nobody else.
That ain't what I'm saying. I got a lot of
great friends that drink and get high. I know some
brilliant people that drink and get high, So I ain't
knocking it. I'm just telling you I have managed to
stay me. Be yourself to thine own self, be true.
You can hold that line a lot longer than you

(05:58):
can hold faking somebody. People will appreciate you if you
are who you say you are. And the only way
to be who you say you are is you're gonna
have to do what you say you're going to do.
And I have made that my business, and if you
make it yours, that is a great chance for you

(06:21):
to become successful. You can't be a news reporter if
your ass is a sculptor. Just make the statues and
go home. Ladies and gentlemen, this is.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
