(00:00):
It is a great pleasure today tohave with us somebody who's going to be
a part of the Monster Energy superCross AMA Supercross Championships coming to Lucas Soil
Stadium on Saturday, the thirteenth ofthis month. Hello, Lane Shaw,
Howdy howdy, it's a pleasure tobe on. Thanks for having me.
Well, Lane, you had abig year last year. You're twenty seven

(00:23):
years old and you made your firstPremiere Class four fifty class main event in
Denver. Talk about what that experiencewas like for you. Oh, it's
a dream come true. My goalis to always make one, and once
you finally make it, you know, you just kind of feel like you're
floating. So it was a reallycool experience. I'm glad I put my

(00:43):
head down, kept working and achievemy goal. We are speaking with Lane
Shaw and again the Monster Energy AMASupercross Championships going to be Saturday, March
sixteenth at Lucas Soil Stadium. Youknow, I saw that you got into
racing a bit later than others. There's guys been doing this for over twenty
years. You haven't even been atit for fifteen yet. Laying yes,

(01:06):
Sir, I actually was a lefthanded pitcher. My goal in life was
to be a left handed pitcher,to go d one playing baseball in college.
And I broke my elbow pitch inat fourteen. Oh and I just
took took a different path. Yeah, well, let's ask because you are
in Super Cross now, you brokea bone, You're playing baseball. How
many breaks have you had in yourwriting career? To be honest with you,

(01:29):
I don't really like to talk aboutthat, and I don't talk about
I just like let the man offabove protecting me, and I just try
to make calculated risk, just likeeverything in life, calculated risk while on
riding and just kind of focus onwhat I need to do. No,
that's a great attitude to have. And let's go back to the baseball a
little bit. Because you are fromAlvin, Texas. Now I'm a hometown
of Nolan Ryan. Nolan Ryan. Now, I'm a fifty six year old

(01:53):
guy. I grew up in Chicago, so I'm a huge baseball fan.
I was a South Sider, sofor me it's the White Sox. But
have you ever met Nolan Ryan.I've been around him when we did Baseball
Bank, which when I was younger. I think I might have shaken his
hand and say hello, but nothingmore than that. But it's super cool
to be from a town where hewas from. Another Nate Avaldi for the

(02:19):
Texas Rangers. Yeah, I wasreally good friends with him and they're like
his whole high school group of players, and there was like I was like
a baseball buddy to him. SoI've just it's baseball and football has been
around in my blood. And thenbroke my elbow and it went it changed.
I started at the dirt bikes andI got sponsored, and here I
am, And let's talk a littlebit about your sponsor, the Lane Frost

(02:39):
brand. Yes, super cool stepsonfor all. Lane's nephew actually reached out
to me before, like three orfour years ago, and I've been a
part of them ever. And Icome from a rodeo family, so it's
just super cool. I like tosay, I'm a cowboy on a steel
horse. Ah, that's great.Does your family have horses? Yes?

(03:01):
My grandpa rodeoed in the senior nationalfinals. My uncle still rodeos, my
mom ran barrels. My grandpa probablystill wishes I do ropes or I was
gonna be a bull rider. Iwanted to be Ty Murray until he retired
and then I retired as well.So have you ever been on a ball?

(03:22):
I have not. That is agoal. It's kind of crazy.
I haven't, but I've been onhorses, tad roping before everything else like
to have it. I haven't beenon a ball yet. And then I
know there were some wildfires in Texas? Was Alvin okay with that? Yes,
sir? It was all West Texas, very far away from us,
being we are very far south. But yeah, very tragic dang going on

(03:46):
in Texas. But I'm glad hopefullyeveryone's okay and then move forward. Absolutely.
We're speaking with Lane Shaw. You'llsee him at the Monster or Energy
am A Supercross Championships. Those aregoing to be happening Saturday, Arch sixteenth
at Lucas Oil Stadium. So Alvinis in South Texas, so I didn't
look it up. Do you getto the ocean down there much at all?

(04:09):
Yes, sir. I'm actually likeforty minutes from Galveston the Gulf of
Mexico, so not too far.We always try to go down there and
get a good dinner. My family'sfrom like Lake Jackson pretty close, so
look a couple of backways that wego through. Yeah, that is awesome.
And I note here in your biographyyou like to wakesurf and cycle.
Yes, sir, I actually wentsurfing yesterday in Jacksonville, Florida. Wow,

(04:33):
trying to go Calabunga catch a coupleof waves. But yeah, wakesurfing
behind a boat, cycling, juststaying active is what I really like to
do. Yeah. Absolutely. Andyou have your own company down in Texas
called fast Lane Training. Talk aboutthat. Oh, I love it.
I love their bikes and everything hastwo wheels and the life it's given me,

(04:54):
and I just want to give back. I want to teach kids or
an adults how to ride safer, smarter and just enjoy what two wheels have
to offer. To do what youdo, you have to be a bit
of a daredevil. You need tocome to Indianapolis in the month of May
and do the two seater ride withone of the drivers, I mean Mario
Andretti. You'll do it every oncein a while. You're not guaranteed to

(05:15):
get Mario. But have you everbeen on four wheels going that fast?
I have not. Four wheel beinga passenger kind of scares me too.
Under other in control. But fourwheels, no, I have not.
I've always been a two wheel kindof guy. Well, i'll tell you
what. You got to come toIndy because you'll come out of turn four
at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and thenyou know they cap these cars when they're

(05:39):
doing the two seater. I thinkit's around one sixty five, one seventy
five. It's insane. And thenthey're doing two thirty five sometimes down that
yard of bricks. That's insane. It's too fast. I give those guys
a lot of credit. I've neverwon anything like that. I like my
two wheels, and I like jumpingand uh doing what we do. But

(06:00):
yeah, what they may is anotherlevel of their devil. So it's super
cool to see what they do andto kind of compare it to what we
do. Yeah. No, absolutely. We're talking with Lane Shaw the Monster
Energy AMA Supercross Championships one week fromthis Saturday, March sixteenth, at Lucas
Oil Stadium. So you know, for those of us that don't have a

(06:23):
lot of knowledge about supercross, whatkind of air are you guys getting when
you go up? Well, justto give you a brief summary, it's
We're the NFL on two wheels. That's how I like to say it.
We're the highest level racing you canget. So you got to bring the
whole family out come see it.It's something it's a must see for everyone
in the family. Where our triples, our big jumps are seventy five feet

(06:46):
and this line is sixty five feetand then like the little bumps it looks
like we go across on TV arecalled whoops and those are thirteen feet apart.
Gotta get enough gas to go acrossthem. It's super cool. The
whole family would love it. FanFest where you can get into the pits
and come see me, starts attwelve, it goes till six. Come
see me Lane Shaw number one twentynine, can get an autograph. I

(07:09):
love the indie crowd. I've done. I've had my best race actually and
yeah I got twelve one year.So it's always been really good vibes and
really good energy for me. Openingceremony starts is at six point thirty and
then racing starts at seven, Soit's a very good thing to bring the
whole family out to and let everyoneenjoy it. Oh yeah, you know

(07:30):
for those kids out there that aredirt biking and doing that. Get out
there early and meet the writers likeLane Shaw. Yeah, come and see
Lane. Pack the place, Packthe place for Lane. Let me ask
you said seventy five feet, Yes, sir. What now what does landing?
What does it feel like when youland? Just a rush? You're

(07:51):
just happy you see the landing andyou're you're on the downside of it.
Yeah. Crazy part is when youtake off and you get to peak peak
heights and you can look around andwe're literally looking to our left, er
right, and we're looking in thesecond deck. So you just you got
to come see it for person. We will be looking eigh level to you.

(08:11):
That is absolutely awesome. And youknow I saw the note here that
your parents follow you around the country. That's great a family affair, Yes,
sir, I'm an only child, and uh, it's crazy to say
that their bikes have brought me andmy family, all my family closer.
So it is a it's a reallycool sport. It's a really great thing.
I think a lot of families shouldget into it. It's it's really

(08:33):
cool. Yeah, you know, and I know your family comes from a
rodeo and some other stuff like that. But does your mom ever get worried
about stuff when you when you're doingthese big jumps. Yes, I think
she watches or she can watch, but she's there usually at every race,
her or my dad, my girlfriendhas been tagging along with us as well.

(08:54):
We have a really great team thatcome to the races and uh,
it's a lot of fun. Well, Lane Shaw, it's number one twenty
nine Yamaha. Get out there andcheck it out. It is powered,
it is sponsored by Lane Frost brand, built by world renowned cowboy Lane Frost.
We will see Lane Shaw Monster EnergyAMA Supercross Championships. It'll be Saturday,

(09:20):
March sixteenth at Lucas Oil. Getthere early, you could go down
and meet Lane. You could startdoing that at around noon and well,
safe travels, Lane, and welook forward to seeing you here in Indy.
Thank you, sir, thank youfor having me. I can't wait.
