Toby and Chili Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one Wash.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
What's making you feel good before five o'clock this Friday morning?
There Chili jamar this crispy, beautiful morning. It is very crispy.
It's ninety seven point one Wash FM Toby and Chilly
in the morning. It feels like fall, but like deep
into fall.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Yeah, because it gets nice and warmer later in the day,
so I could live with this.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Little Evening's going to warm up like next week too,
so I.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yeah, this weekend we're going back up to the nineties
and humidity, which is why I'm kind of enjoying this
little bit of you know, eighties with no humidity.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yeah, the last week before the pool closes. I'm feeling
some joy. I'm feeling good this morning because I am
packed and ready to go. I have my one bag ready,
I have my other stuff, my tech stuff.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Charging at home.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I'm ready to go to Boston to take my kid
back to college.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Is she ready? Not my job to prepare her. I
know that my bag is ready to go.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
All I gotta do is run home after this show,
grab it, throw it in the car, and wait on
her to load her stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
That's very good. And how many more years of this
do you think you're gonna have to? Oh no, I'm
not saying technically she has one year left right.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Well, knock on wood until the whole I might need
to do a fifth ye okay. I actually dropped this
one on her the other day, my daughter, who's in
college up in Boston. I said, you know, you do
well enough in school, they'll pay for you to get
your masters.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
That's what they do at the University of Maryland.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
And she's like, I know who you're talking about that
had to pay for her masters. And she's like a genius.
And I'm like, well, what's stopping you exactly?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
If you've got a couple of months to get to
genius status.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Am into that.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Well, we've got a Friday to get into, so we
can get through today and get into weekend status with
Toby and Chilly in the morning here at ninety seven
point one wash FM. Thank you so much for waking
up with us coming up in just a few minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Well, yesterday you randomly asked me which day you wish
I sort of lived in now? Is that what you said?
Speaker 5 (02:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:03):
Yeah, yeah, if you could live in any decade. What
would that decade be?
Speaker 2 (02:07):
It's kind of based on a on a thing that
was going around the internet this week about the resurgence
of the nineties and how the eighties is a thing,
but the nineties is the new thing, and then there's
the two thousands. Well, what would it be for you?
Eight sixty six, nine, two, seven, forty three sixty one.
We'll get into this next. Good Morning DC from the
Department of Data at the Washington Post Toby and Chilli
(02:29):
in the Morning.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
It's ninety seven point one wastch FM.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
They teamed up with you Gov to pull two thousand
Americans to find America's best decade according to data and
long story short where Toby and Chile in the Morning.
There's no easy answer to the question. It all really
depends on one variable more than any other. Chilli, your age, Okay,
your age, So for some people who are older than
(02:53):
you and I, it could be different than some people
who are younger than you and I, or for my
daughter and your son will even have okay, a different
take on can I ask.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Let me ask you this question though, if you could
experience any decade as an adult, what would it be
other than the one we're in right.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Now, probably the greatest generations boom time when they came
home from World War Two. Really yeah, because America was united,
there wasn't so much divisiveness in our public discourse, and
it just seemed like it was a really good time
to be an American. And that's, of course, assuming that
(03:31):
leave it to beaver is to be believed, you know
what I mean in some of those old school TV shows. Okay,
what about you? If we're going back into the decades, where.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Do you stand? No doubt? The eighties, I mean eighties.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah, I mean I was a kid during the eighties,
but I'd love to be like this age during the
eighties or in my forties or thirties. During the eighties,
the music was amazing actually, like the fashion, well i'll
subtract the shoulder pads, I guess, but like there was
just something about the eighties to your point, that to
me felt and united. And maybe I was living in
(04:02):
La La Land as a kid.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I love cabbage match kids were a thing, So was
Aquinette back in the eighties. And I'm still I've got
some sort of PTSD from ripping the crotch out of
my parachute.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Pants.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
That's a true story that actually happened Courtney and falls Church.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
Hey, I would plas to go back to the sixties.
I was so happy and safe. I had the greatest
parents in the world. My dad was a heart working
due my mom was chewing flavor. I had friends and
they're left to me. Friends to write to me. Across
the street. We'd get up at eight o'clock in the
(04:39):
morning and gout to play. He wouldn't come home to
your long coach forget at five o'clock. And it was
just a great, great time.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Well, thank you for the call this morning. The sixties chilling.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Yeah, I think hippies, right, like I think a lot
of protesting, Am I am? I wrong? Do you remember
history differently?
Speaker 7 (05:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Peace love and Forest Gump.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
That's that's right.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Well, actually, would Forestcump be more of the seventies because
that was like around the well, I know, it was
all of the decades, all of the decades in one
Forrest Gump. Thank you, ma'am for that. We'll go over
here to Jennifer and Kensington.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
What do you say I would choose.
Speaker 8 (05:18):
To go to either the eighties or.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
The twenties, twenties, that's kind of random wine.
Speaker 8 (05:24):
I think the twenties are fantastic because of the clothes
that they wore, the hair, the styles that they had.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Oh, those flapper dresses are so much fun.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yes, they remind me of burlesque shows. Okay, I don't
know why. Uh huh, eight sixty six, nineteen seven, forty
three sixty one. If there's a decade that pops into
your mind you would want to live in, well, listen
to your story. Feel free to throw it on us
and stay there. Your morning mindset is on the way

Speaker 3 (06:10):
We're gonna share a quote to get you into a
good morning mindset.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Muhammad Ali. Perhaps maybe you've heard of Muhammad Ali, great
boxer otherwise known as Cassius Clay, says, suffer now and
live the rest of your life a champion. Suffer now
and live the rest of your life a champion. It's
not always going to be easy this life. Sometimes you
(06:34):
are going to get up too early, you're gonna stay
up way too late. You're gonna get just piled on
with stuff to do on a Friday when all you
want to do is check out for the weekend. This
stuff can be tough. Maybe it causes you to suffer well.
Suffer now and live the rest of your life. Is
a champion, like Muhammad Ali said, So knock it out
one at a time. You've got this and that's your
(06:56):
morning mindset for this Friday morning, August twenty in the
nation's capital, ninety seven point one was Chef M coming

Speaker 4 (07:23):
What's obey? And Chile in the morning, Okay, what's going
on there?
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Chile?
Speaker 3 (07:27):
The rumors were not true. Beyonce did not make a
surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention. TMZ had reported
that she was going to be coming out to support
Vice President Kamala Harris, and then later on a rep
for Beyonce announced Yeah, she was never scheduled to be there.
MTV announced yesterday that rap star Megan v. Stallion is
(07:48):

extra marital affair. The allegation comes on the heels of
his wife of two years, Samantha, filing for divorce. He

If you need the news and you do Top stories

with ninety seven point one watch FM Toby and Chilly

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Morning Top Story, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepted the Democratic Party's nomination
for president last night and touched on a wide variety
of topics. Leaning heavily into her background as a district
attorney and Attorney General, Harris said that she was used
to being underestimated, but that quote the future is always
worth fighting for. Polisa Minasa's Park, they arrested the husband
(09:22):
of a missing woman and charged him with concealing a body.
Naresh Bot was arrested yesterday morning, just a few hours
after police searched his home. Investigators are still looking for
Mamtabot's body. Water restrictions in Camp Springs are no longer
in effect. Crews finished working on a water main, restoring
(09:43):
the level of water in that part of Prince George's
County's storage tank. More and more people are opening up
to the idea of eating insects as an alternative source
of protein, and although you may not be one of them,
these crunchy bugs are becoming more popular on restaurants plates.
Researchers found that California is the top state for eating bugs,
(10:05):
with seventeen edible species and twenty one restaurants that serve them.
And get this, Virginia came in sixth and Finally, Americans
now believe it takes an average net worth of two
and a half million dollars to be considered wealthy. That
is up fourteen percent from last year. Financial comfort is
(10:25):
believed to require an average of seven hundred and seventy
eight thousand dollars in assets. Forecast for today, it is
going to be absolutely gorgeous, lots of sun. Make sure
you get out there and enjoy it. Highs in the
mid eighties right now, fifty three in Laurels.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
So you will never believe this makeover that my clauset got.
It's more than just color coordinated. That's the tip of
the iceberg. You ever have anybody do this for you?
Oh that's right, I said do this for me. You'll
find out what was done, how it was done too?
Coming up in minutes with Tobe and Chilly in the Morning,
it's ninety seven point one WASHFM, good morning, thanks for
(11:03):
get up with us in Genesis.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Here's that's all.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Yeah, at six twenty two, it's ninety seven point one
WASHEFM Toby and Chilly in the morning. There's something to
this decluttered organized life, at least when it comes to me. Hi,
I'm Toby Napp, the Toby napaf of Toby and Chilly
in the Morning, and I don't really do the whole
organized thing so well, but over the weekend, my significant
others stopped by and took it upon herself on Sunday
(11:29):
to start a project in the closet of decluttering and reorganizing.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
But how is this different than what she's done in
the past with your clothes.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Well, that was just getting rid of stuff and doing
laundry because I had like six or seven piles of it.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
So what's what's one thing that she's done to your
closet that's very different.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Well, first of all, she did the Homer Recondo thing,
stay or Go, Stay or go, stayre go, So we
spent about an hour. She would one hand was this shirt,
the other hand was that shirt. I'm like, you haven't
Then she would jump in, I haven't seen you. There's
not been hanging out with you for da da da da.
Now that's going. It's gone, right, So good luck over
at Salvation Army and Goodwill. They probably got some great
stuff out of my closet that you can go and
(12:10):
buy and the money will go to a great cause.
I've done that before, but I've never had stuff organized
by long sleeves, darks, jerseys.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Oh so she color coordinated and also kept them in
the same category.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
All the whites went here, all the black T shirts
went over here. And I will tell you it has
made the mornings smooth. How So, because I walk in
and everything's color coordinated. I'm like, Okay, there's a jersey
and it's yellow. That's my Savannah Bananas jersey. I'll wear that,
and it's hanging in its place. Everything has its place
(12:49):
in that closet.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
And I think in theory that's great because it does
make it easier to match clothes when you've got them
in different hues and shirt sleeves and whatever. But like,
are you going to put them away in the right place.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Already started with that.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
It's it's actually funny you should say that, because when
you have this kind of organization, at least when it
comes to me and I pretend to speak for everybody,
you find that you want to maintain it for as
long as you can. So guess who's got laundry lined
up ready to go after my daughter finishes her back
to school laundry?
Speaker 4 (13:18):
Me why? Because I know that the dark shirt will
go there.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Okay, well let me ask you in a month from now,
Let's see how long this motivation stays out, because a
lot of people really try to keep up with it,
but it automatically goes back to like a Rubik's Cube,
it all gets reshuffled again in the wrong play.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
That's very true too, and that's why the Rubik's Cube
is so enthralling when it comes to being a game.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Speaking of games, Kelby and Chilly's Nearly Impossible question.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Eight seven forty three sixty one is the number if
you want to play this game this morning?
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Here's the question.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Twelve percent of people still have this from elementary school.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
What is it? Think you know? The answer?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Call now eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
sixty one tickets Chicago November. Thanks Live Nation. There at
the Lyric you could go. Here's the question again.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Twelve percent of people still have this from when they
were in elementary school. What is it?
Speaker 2 (14:10):
If you think you know what it is? Call now
take a guess. Even wrong guesses could be right. So
try to play and win those tickets to She's Chicago
right now with your nearly impossible question at ninety seven
point one. Watch FM the answer on the way in
minutes and we'll learn something along the way too.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Shelby and Chill's nearly impossible questions.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Alrighty, Addie and Severna Park's going to see Chicago thanks
to Live Nation because she answered what was the question
again correctly?
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Twelve percent of people still have this from elementary school.
And Addie, correctly, you said it was our best friend.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Oh, you're bestie from high school? Do you still have
elementary but do you still have the best thing bestie
from elementary? No?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
I do have a Bessie from high school, but not
from elementary school.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
God, now that I think back to elementary, it's.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
Tough to keep one from elementary school, you know, until
many many years ago.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
I mean that it was a long long time Miss
Valentine's class. I can't remember who that best he might
have been, but anyway, Addie, congratulations, enjoy Chicago.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Tickets are yours.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
If you want details on the show, or maybe you
want to go buy some tickets, All those details are
at washfm dot com and be here on Monday right
around six twenty six twenty five for another round of
your nearly impossible question when you're playing.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Four tickets to Mariah carry Capital One Arena December first,
thanks to Live Nation. This, by the way, is her
Christmas tour.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Oh yes, deck these halls. Here comes Mariah, who does
Christmas better than probably well, I wouldn't say anybody else
because a lot of people get at Christmas, but it
is Mariah. All she wants for Christmas is you. And
if you want those tickets, you'll get a Monday right here.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
You want the.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
News, got top stories at the top of the hour
on the way for you right around seven.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Stay there, Top Stories Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Vice President Kamala Harris is the Democratic nominee for president.
She said as she was accepting the nomination on behalf
of the people and urged everyone to vote. There is
speculation that Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Junior is
going to be at former President Trump's rally in Arizona today.
There have been reports that Kennedy is considering dropping out
(16:16):
of the race and endorsing Trump. The husband of a
missing Manassa's Park mother, who has last seen more than
three weeks ago, has now been charged in connection to
her disappearance. Thirty seven year old Naresh Bot was arrested
just hours after being named a person of interest in
the case. The Montgomery County Board of Education has approved
(16:36):
a plan to install vape detectors in all county high schools.
The school system piloted the use of detectors in five
high schools in the twenty twenty three school year. The
National Park Service looking to get rid of the one
way reversible lanes in place during morning and evening rush
(16:57):
hours along Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway in DC, citing
safety concerns. The reversible one way operations have been in
place since the nineteen thirties, and a new report reveals
rather the US states that swear the most. Based on
analysis of tweets, Maryland comes in at number one, is
(17:19):
the state with the most foul mouthed people. Virginia was fourth. Meanwhile,
folks in South Dakota cursed the least forecast for today.
Lots of sun hies in the mid eighties right now
fifty four in Woodbridge.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
So your dog found a way for you to get
some free ice cream there, Chili.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
O, Yes, I don't know if I should feel guilty
about this or not.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
Well I don't. I'm not worried about your guilt.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
My parents named me Toby, and I think you need
to come correct with what you learned on how we
can get quote free ice cream and of quote, because
if a dog knows, well, you gotta tell us this secret.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
That's next. Stay with Toby and Chilly.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
In the morning.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Everybody gather around.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Chili's dog helped her find a way to get free
ice cream. It's ninety seven point one. Watch FM Toby
and Chilly in the morning will spill the beans. If
dogs know how to do this, then people need to
know how to do it too. What's up, Well, it
was accidental.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
So some ice cream places give a free pop cup
to your dog, and at this particular place, it's a
tablespoon of vanilla ice cream and a teeny tiny, like
one of those ketchup containers with a little dog biscuit
and they give it to your dog for free while
you enjoy their ice cream, and oh, everybody gets a treat.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Is this kind of like the same thing as Starbucks?
Like producer Kayla. When Kyla was here, she used to
always take her dog over to the Starbucks by us
and get like.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
It's whip cream there.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
Oh okay, yeah, I know that.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
By the way, Bella loves the pup cups at Starbucks.
She loves their whip cream. It's fantastic. Every time I
get coffee, I'll get her one. But this particular day,
she ate the biscuit, but she kind of turned her
nose away for the ice cream. And I initially thought, oh,
this must be doggy ice cream whatever that, But it
occurred to me, no, wait, this is actually just a
tablespoon of human ice cream for the dog. So I
(19:05):
ate it. I was like, this was like a perfect
little amount, you know, it's a little sweet something for me.
We go back another week, same thing. I'm thinking maybe
she'll want it this time. She doesn't want it again.
I end up getting a free little tablespoon.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
All right, Okay, Now you might be pushing your luck
on one, no harm, no foul. On number two, Oh
I'm back again. You're gonna start to pop up on
a radar that I'm one of those dudle I don't
like to take. And I'm not saying you're taking advantage
of it because I don't think you are. And I'm
not one to judge, and I have to practice what
(19:39):
I preach. If I say you're in a judgment free zone,
I'm not going to judge you. But I think that
if the business calls you out, that's when it becomes
a problem. And after pushing your luck twice, you go
back there later today might get flash you're.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Saying three times is like, oh, you gotta clearly doesn't want.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
This, or if they don't say anything, that means they
don't care, keep on going back to that place. But
you know, if not, then you know you need to
go find the ice cream shop around the corner because
you will have been called out. Yeah that's the woman
who says she's coming in to get a pup cup
for her dog.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Or her dog never ad To be clear, I'm not
the type of person that treats uh sample ladies as
like a party, a cocktail party, you're always getting to
I am not that kind of but in this case,
this was a nice little treat.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
I will not lie right right, yeah at the ice
cream place, yes, now, she don't.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
She will go crazy at Costco on the free sample.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Lad I don't. That's my point. I'm not that person.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Well, see if she can take Bella into Costco and
find some ice cream for pops. I'm just saying, well,
I'm you know, I just don't want you to get flagged.
You need to have backup options just in case. Playing
BCD and sometimes E and S almost that's true too.
And while summer is almost stiver, perhaps maybe you've thought
about an adventure that you want to take before summer
is officially gone and everybody's back into the fall routine.
(21:00):
Have you ever taken an adventure? What was the adventure?
What do you want to do? Eight sixty six ninety
seven forty three sixty one. That's the number. We'll talk
more about this coming up next. As we enjoy this
pup cup with Toby and Chili in the morning, stay
with us, summer wrapping up, It's Toby and Chilly in
the Morning, ninety seven point one wash FM.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Is there an adventure.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
That's still on your summertime buget list, maybe your life list?
Is there an adventure that you want to take maybe
when you've taken let's talk about it now at eight
sixty six wash CHEFM. The number one that's eight six
six nineteen seven forty three sixty one Chili Adventure.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Oh you, yes, definitely. I am part of the sixty
percent of people who really need an adventure. And for me,
the first thing that would come to mind is hiking
to the base of the Grand Canyon, spending the night
and then come and right back up again. I would
love to do that one day.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
That sounds like an adventure. No, is that's something that
according to this research you just cited, that people think
about at least four times a day.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
No, I don't think that. I mean, maybe it is,
but four times a day is a lot. I don't
sit here thinking about the Grand Canyon hike four times
a day.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
See.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
I think of fleeting things like adventures and trips more
than four times a day.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Like, what's an adventure that you think about often?
Speaker 2 (22:16):
At the top of my head, renting an RV and
going from coast to coast, just to see what it's like.
It would be me jumping taking that van life stuff
I watch on YouTube to a different level than actually
trying it.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Would it be an aimless driving across the country or
planned driving? Like would you have a route planned or
would you literally go where the road takes you? Because
then it's a different level of adventure if you.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Go where the road takes me. Except for Route sixty six,
I would make it a point to go driving down
