Toby and Chilly Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one wash out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Oh wow, what a weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Everything about the weekend was just relaxing. I wish I
were being honest, but there is joy to be found
on this Monday morning. It's ninety seven point one wash
uf m Toby and Chilly in the morning. And so
I'm feeling good this morning because I had some time
to just decompress and sleep and spend some time alone
with my thoughts. With my daughter being back in Boston

(00:28):
at college for her fourth year, I've got to tell
you there was something about the quiet last night at
the house that was actually not deafening.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
It was actually relaxing.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Yes, having your her daughter not down the hall, I
bet is big different.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Oh yes, not taking a summer class in the living
room where I used to do my work.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
I had to give that spot up for the summer month.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
You had mentioned that when she's in town, do you
sometimes feel like a guest in your own home?

Speaker 5 (00:57):
I do.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I completely feel like a guest in my own home.
How about you?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
How was your weekend this last week, last full weekend
before the long holiday weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah, you know, we went to the community pool. So
it was very nice. It was perfect pool weather. And
it's funny because the water had gotten too warm from
all the heat days, and then because of the cooler
temperatures overnight for a few days, it definitely got cool.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, I wondered about that.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
I thought about going to the pool yesterday, but then
I thought to myself, well, when I left for Boston,
it was feeling a little cool, and I know what
cool does in a non heated pool. But anyway, well,
Montgomery County and their massive school system going back today
in the DMV, So you're going to see a lot
of buses on the road in the Montgomery County side

(01:44):
of things. Of course, Fairfax kind of already went back.
Does that leave anybody that hasn't gone back yet or no?

Speaker 6 (01:49):
I'm not really sure.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
I think most people are back, and if they're not,
next week for sure, for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
And I meantime, welcome to the routine of a week
before a holiday weekend. It's ninety seven point ONEm Toby
and chilly in the morning.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
We're coming up next, Okay.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
So I guess more and more people are using linked
In as a dating app.

Speaker 6 (02:07):

(02:31):
LinkedIn is a professional networking website. Some people are using
this site now as like a dating app, and some
people are feeling some sort of way about it. Would you,
Chilly be happy if somebody you knew tried to pick
you up using a work related networking site.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Look, if I'm single, I think anything is fair game.
It's a social site. It's a networking site. As long
as they weren't like trying to interview me for a job,
wink wink, when really they were asking me out on
a date.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
So if it's I'm not going anywhere, they're not going anywhere.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
They come across my profile, Who cares, man, it's a
social site.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
My problem is that people, oftentimes if they work with
you and they try to like slide up into your
linked In dms as it were, they typically have some
kind of ulterior motive.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
Well, see, that's not cool. Just be honest.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Say you came across my professional profile, thought I was
cute and want to take me out. That's fine as
long as you're not my future boss. I don't really care.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
See for me, I'm like, you know what state you're
reasoning at the door before you come through. But that's us, Caitlin.
You've got thoughts and district heights this morning.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Go ahead.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
No one has tried to pick me up on LinkedIn,
and I think it would be weird if they tried,
unless they happen to be a.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Very wealthy CEO, and then I might be into it.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Well, at least you're honest. I'm not sure how HR
would feel about.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
You waiting JA.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
I wouldn't have anything to do with the conversation because
we don't know that that CEO is the CEO that
wanted to date her.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I mean they just met on LinkedIn? Who knew?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Who knew it would blossom into a relationship? Mark and Gaithersburg.
As anybody tried to pick you up on LinkedIn?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
No?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
No, no one has ever tried to pick me up
on LinkedIn.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
But it would be an I can't imagine what the
job would be.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
I mean, it wouldn't even have to be for a job.
It would just be their way in to get to
know you better.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Well to your point earlier Chili, if you're single, you're

That's where we can help you turn things around, we hope.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
And that is done with a quote that Toby's found
for our morning mindset.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Stephen Covey, who's an inspirational writer, says, live out of
your imagination, not your history. Live out of your imagination,
not your history. You know what your history is, just
that history, it's behind you. It's already happened, can't change it,
can't take it back. Sometimes when you live out your imagination,

(05:19):
it's not pretty. Sometimes it's messy. But when you live
out of your imagination and not your history, that's when
true dreams can come true. So be inspired today to
live out of your imagination. Don't worry about your history.
Stephen Covey's on to something this morning.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Hopefully that help. That is your morning mindset.

Speaker 3 (05:38):

Speaker 4 (06:25):
October, which means she'll probably be attending a few Kansas
City Chiefs games this season. Source says there was a
lot of love between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, but
that his unpredictable mood swings caused a great divide. Apparently,
Ben would quickly shift from joyful to very toxic moods,

Speaker 4 (07:42):

Walls kicking off a bus tour in the battleground state
of Georgia, while former President Trump and JD. Vance will
also hold several events in swing states this week. Doctor

Commanders have announced plans to honor former player Sean Taylor
with a statue outside the stadium. The team said a

(08:48):
memorial to Taylor outside the stadium is going to be
removed because it really falls short of the honor that
he deserves. And Expedia's Fall Travel Outlook has just come out,
revealing the best time to book and travel to save money.
It finds it Thursdays are the busiest days to fly,
and departing on Mondays could save you fifteen percent on

(09:10):
travel within the US. Forecast for today partly clotty, hot
and humidod You have a chance of some afternoon storms.
Highs around eighty eight right now sixty eight and booie.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Speaking of travel, you know, I told you I was
making some changes to the college move in process. I
know a lot of families have been going through this
with college aged kids over the last couple of weeks
because kids are moving back to college campuses. Well, it
only took me four years figured something out, tried it
to let you know how it went. Maybe this could
be helpful for you, or maybe not, or maybe you

(09:41):
already knew.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
You'll find out what it was coming up in a field.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Think I finally cracked it, Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
It's ninety seven point one wash. Chef M finally cracked
the code on this whole college move in thing. And
the answer is something I should have done years ago
when she started going to college my daughter in bon
at this place called Emerson.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
One Way. Rentals of cars are a great thing when
you can fly back.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Well, yes, and I brought this up to you in
years past, But there was a reason why you didn't
drive one way and.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
Fly the other.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yes, because of something called the drop fee. By the way,
it's ninety seven point one WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in
the Morning. The drop fee is a fee for like
basically the transfer of a vehicle from one place to another.
And I don't know how this whole thing works because
I don't do the rental car business. Yeah, so I
can't say that it's this way for every company, but
there are companies I know that will charge you a

(10:36):
fee if you rent like, say it the car rental
place down the block right on Rockville Pike. If I
rent from there, they're gonna be like, okay, you're taking this.
It's one way. Either they won't have a vehicle available
for that, or they'll charge you this money. That could
be like I think there was one time I looked
at it and bryced it. I was like six hundred
bucks and I'm like, no.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
Well then how did you get around it? This time?

Speaker 3 (10:58):
One way rental went to the airport, got the car
at the airport, went from the airport to another airport.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
There was no drop piece.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Oh well there is a little loop hole.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
I did not know that.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
That is very very good to know.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Apparently they don't do like these security deposits sort of
things at airports because they're like, well, you're going to
have to come back to the airport because you have
to eventually fly somewhere.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
So you got her, moved in, yes, and then you
ended up flying back. So you saved yourself what ten
to twelve hour drive coming home, which is spectacular.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
But there was one thing I should have I should
have realized, which I didn't stop and think about until
I realized when I was packing to come home. When
you take a car and you're used to doing the
whole thing like road trip style, you don't have to
worry about airport security. So it's very important to make
sure that the tools and things you might bring with

(11:51):
you meet the criteria the TSA has is being allowed
as onboard stuff in your butt bags because the stuff
that I had to like, you know, that was in
a bag.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
You didn't have a chainsaw, but you had like.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
A stuff that would make them raise eyebrows about why
do you need this is your carry on bags. I
don't know that you need that screwdriver or a knife.

Speaker 6 (12:14):
So instead of carrying on you were forced to check
your bag.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Yep, And that causes delays when it.

Speaker 6 (12:19):
Comes to come on.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
A delay like that versus driving for another twelve hours
come much better, don't you think.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Some say tomatoes, Some say tomato, But yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
It only took you until her senior year to figure
out this was a great little way to go.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Well, you know, sometimes you keep throwing enough stuff on
the wall some of it sticks. Hopefully that works in
college educations too. Were Toby and Chilly in the morning,
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. Got some college
move tips. Feel free to share them. You know where
to find us.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
In the meantime, Toby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
The question is today three and ten parents use their
kids an excuse as an excuse to buy this product?

Speaker 6 (13:01):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (13:01):
So let's ask that question one more time in case
somebody didn't. What was that?

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Three and ten parents use their kids as an excuse
to buy this What is it?

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Eight six, six, nine, two, seven forty three sixty one
is the number? Call now get it right Mariah, Capital
One Arena, December first, thanks to Live Nation.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
It's our Christmas tour.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Mariah knows Christmas And if you know the answer, We've
got the tickets for you. Call now play when your
nearly impossible question is on for this one.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Kelby and Kelly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
All right, Dennis Sindberg, good morning, How are you doing?

Speaker 6 (13:36):
Good morning?

Speaker 2 (13:37):
I'm great.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
We'll get you shot out of a cannon on a Monday. Well,
it's time to play the game. Here comes the question.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Three and ten parents use their kids as an excuse
to buy this What do you think we're talking about?

Speaker 6 (13:48):
There's so many possibilities, but I'm going to go with
chocolate milk.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Do you have kids, and that's something that you can
speak firsthand of, Sir.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
I've got three children, but the baby is thirty one.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Have you ever used your baby at thirty one as
an excuse for chocolate milk? Because I might know people
who have done that very thing.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
No, but I did that for the thirty seven year
old because she was the chocolate milk drinker. It's interesting
how we think that's such a childish beverage to purchase
and we need an excuse to buy.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
No, there's nothing childish about chocolate milk.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
That's an excellent guest this morning. It's also the correct answer.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
Congratulations. You know what that means.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Mariah December First, thanks to Lovation. It's a Christmas show.
I'm sure there'll be chocolate milk and cookies in your
future after that show.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
I hope so. And I sugar my wife.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
The other day I said to given away or I
carry tickets you want to go?

Speaker 6 (14:50):
Said yeah, And.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Now you've got the tickets and you've taught us about
your chocolate milk habits.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
We feel so informed, sir.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
You guys are great, so are you. Thank you for
waking up with ninety seven point one WASHCHEFM with more
tickets on the way to see Mariah tomorrow. Thank you
Live Nish. Another round of your nearly impossible question coming up.
Be here to win tomorrow's six ' twenty ish. It's
ninety seven point one WASHEFM, Toby and Chilly in the morning.
Top Stories at the top of the hour. That's what
we call the news. It is minutes away right here.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Top Stories, top of the hour.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
Former President Trump says he plans to form an independent
committee on presidential assassination attempts if he is re elected.
He says the committee will be tasked with releasing all
of the remaining documents pertaining to the assassination of President
John F. Kennedy, as well as conducting a review of
the attack against him last month. The husband of a
Manassas Park woman who's been missing since last month and

(15:48):
is fear dead. We'll be back in court today where
a judge is expected to set a bond for naresh Bot.
Investigators say they found a large amount of blood evidence
and proof that a bond was dragged from the home.

Speaker 6 (16:02):
A pedestrian bridge over two.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Ninety five has reopened more than three years after was
hit by a truck and collapsed. D DOT says the
Lame Place pedestrian bridge will give people an easier way
to access mass transit and the surrounding neighborhoods. Starting late
next month, US residents will be able to order another
round of free COVID nineteen tests through the government website

(16:26):
COVID tests dot gov. This is in response to an
anticipated COVID surge this winter, and as artificial intelligence becomes
more a part of our daily lives. A new survey
finds at forty eight percent of Americans think AI deserves
to be spoken to politely, like saying please and thank you.

(16:47):
Thirty nine percent think that our past behavior towards AI, Alexa,
and Siri will.

Speaker 6 (16:52):
Somehow be taken into account.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
Forecasts for today partly cloudy, hot and humid with the
chance of some severe storms. Afternoon highs around eighty eight
right now sixty six and Tacoma Park.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Do you hear the story last week about the woman
in Texas in San Antonio who passed away but was
bill a big time when she broke her lease? Yeah,
apparently this happened, which got us talking about the craziest
charge you might have had when you came to moving
out of an apartment, or maybe you rented a house once.
What was that charge? We'll tell you more about this

(17:26):
story in case you missed it. We'll talk more about
these charges, and if you've got some, we've got to
hear from you. Eight six six nineteen seven forty three
sixty one talk back microphobe and open too. All you
have to do is press the red microphone with a
circle around it. Speak your truth. That'll come to us
right in the studio. We'll get into it next. You
might have seen this story floating around the Internet of
Things last week, so let's talk about it.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Toby and Chilly in the morning.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Ninety seven point one, wasch FM the craziest charge you
ever had when you moved out of like a rental
apartment or a rental house? Apparently there?

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Or was the woman who unfortunately passed on.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
Yeah, she was ninety one years old, and after she died,
her apartment complex build her kids almost sixteen thousand dollars
for breaking her lease.

Speaker 6 (18:12):
The woman died, I mean, is that really?

Speaker 4 (18:14):
I mean, breaking your lease is different than just dying.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
You would think there might be a hall pass addendum
to that lease memorandi or something.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Obviously they're fighting it. But this begs the question. I've
never rented a place, but I know you have. Sure
has there ever been like a ridiculous charge when you
went to move out?

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Or lots of lots of ridiculous fees? First things first,
I'm not condoning people who break leases. Just break leases.
That's a bad thing. It's not legal. It's a legal
document in a contract for a reason. That being said,
I think that some of these places need to be
straight up when it comes to what you can expect
when you move out, like fees. Like, for instance, where

(18:56):
I live, there's like a what do they call it
a clean move fee? Yeah, it's like two hundred and
fifty dollars. Fine, that's okay. If I'm moving anyway, that's cool.
As long as I get my security deposit back.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
I'm cool.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Even if you take that two hundred and fifty dollars
clean moofee out of the security deposit. But you start
nickel and diming me for things, I'm gonna have a problem.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Is there anything that you've done to your current apartment
that you worried may come back and bite you in
the butt when you go to move out.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
The worried it'll bite me in the buttocks, But it
shouldn't because they're all improvements. I mean, I improved the
I put a smart home thermostat in. I put a
smart ring kind of home security device on the door
to replace the peepole. Yes, yep, which is an improvement
as well. And then I also changed the shower head

(19:44):
into one of those rain shower heads like you're finding
those hotels when you're acting like you own the place. Yeah,
a little bit, But it's not like I went through
and ripped all the carpet out and put in hard
wood floors, although I thought about that. But then to
your point, I remembered, why would I want to spend
money making these long, long term improvements on a place
that's either gonna rip them out and throw them away
or I'm gonna see no return on investment on Now,

(20:06):
I'm sure I'm probably gonna get charged for making these improvements.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Improvements are not though, Like what was the most ridiculous
thing that you've ever been charged when you went to
move out of your place?

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one
is the number eight sixty six. Washup, m the number
one talkback open too. If you've got the app, sign
into it, press that microphone with the red circle around it.
It'll send a voicenarte to us right here in the studio.
Tell us what it was. We're not gonna judge, even
if you haven't been charged for it yet. And if
you need to protect your identity, because perhaps maybe you're

(20:37):
still leasing at that place, we'll do what I just
didn't do for myself. Protect you. Why would we throw
you into the bus. Your stories are on the way
coming up after eight as Toby and Chilly in the
Morning continues. But next a story we think might just
make your Monday. A guy using soap to cure cancer.

(20:57):
There's just one thing about this guy.

Speaker 6 (21:00):
Years old and was named Time Magazine's Kid of the Year.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Ton for a story that we think might just make
your Monday, Let's talk about little Haymon Mackaylay, who is
a name that a lot of people are talking about
in scientific circles here in the DMV. Why well, in
part because he's young. The dude is fifteen years old.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
He is a sophomore at Woodson High School in Fairfax.
Now Last year he was the champ for the three
M Young Scientist Challenge, and this year he was named
Time Magazines Kid of the Year for an incredible invention.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
He created some soap, some cancer fighting soap. He took
ingredients and nanoparticles and combined them, pitched his idea one big. Now,
if you know him, tell him. We need him to
sign copies of the Time magazine that he's on because
it might be worth money one day.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
And it's really cool. The reason why he created the
skin cancer so the.

Speaker 5 (21:59):
