Speaker 1 (00:00):
Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Good morning, Nation's Capital, parts of West Virginia, parts of
Northern Virginia way to the south on ninety five of
the Diamond, that is the district and people who are
commuting in from say I don't know Thurmont, north of Frederick.
Welcome to Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety
seven point one wash FM before five. Why are you
feeling good this morning? They're chili.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well, I just found out it's a National Day of Encouragement. Yep,
So be encouraged today or encourage someone else.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
To encourage everyone today.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
You can do it.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, we're done, believe in you.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Let's turn off mis We've already encouraged them.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
But no, that's good. No, No, that's that's excellent. We'll
be encouraged today. Find what it is that gives you
encouragement and go after it. I am feeling good this morning.
This is just a small thing. And I don't know
if it was intentional or not, but and it's little
things that make me feel good about stuff. Like yesterday
for dinner, all I could eat was like maybe three

(01:02):
or four fork folds of what I had and that
was it, and I actually felt good about it. I
don't know why, but normally I sit down and I
eat with my eyes, not my stomach, and I'm.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Like, but you said you do ozempic. Doesn't that help
with your appetite sign.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I'm sure it does, but you know, there are times
when I try to work around it, Like, if we're
being honest, there are sometimes when people who have dealt
with that stuff their entire life, and I'm that stuff.
I mean, wait, you know you eat with your eyes
and you try to like run the ozempic and you're like, well,
I'm just gonna do it anyway, and you feel horrible.

(01:40):
But like last night, I just sat there and I
felt just full after like a few bites, and I'm like, okay,
I'm done, put it in the fridge and said, now
I have lunch tomorrow. I just have to warm it up.
Little things, superfluous things, but they bring joy.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
So I guess, are you ever this type of person
that hid food from people that or some one in
the house like your daughter or anything.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yes, yes, yes, previous significant others that I lived with,
and we can Yeah, you know what, there's a lot
of people that do this from time to time, and
we'll talk about it coming up. Eight sixty six nine two,
seven forty three sixty one is the number if you
feel like you want to jump in right now. In
the meantime, let's get it started. Any here On a Thursday,
the twelfth of September, it's ninety seven point one wash FM,

(02:23):
DC Steakwoad, Toby and Chilly in the morning. They call
it secret eating. Ninety seven point one wash FM. Are
you guilty of said secret eating? That's where you see
something you're like that looks tasty, I'm gonna get it,
but you know, you're like, maybe go in someplace for dinner,
or you have plenty of food at home and you
don't really need it, but you get it anyway. So
you get it and you eat it someplace that's not

(02:44):
your house.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Well, also, you secretly eat it so that anybody else
in your house doesn't eat it with you or take
it away from you, which is what I used to
do when my son was a toddler. Yeah, anytime I
would open like a protein bar, he's a little crackling
of the us. He would think it's candy. He come
running and want to bite I'm like, oh no, this
is Mommy's.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Eight six six, nine two seven forty three sixty one.
If you're guilty of secret eating, you can tap the
talkback mic if you're signed into your iHeart appits the
mic with a circle around it. I don't know that
I have been guilty of secret eating. I call it
shame eating. Oh that's when I'll see some sort of
advertisement or something it like I don't know, like say
sheets or wah wah, and I'll get it even though

(03:25):
I don't need it. So I'll be in the car
and my driveway eating macaroni and cheese, and.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Then you'll go out to dinner later and not order
as much. In people are like, why.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I'm fool? What's wrong with you? You knew we were
going on for dinner? What did you do? Did you
go someplace and get something?

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Again?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Here's Leslie, she's in suitland. She's guilty of this secret eating.
What is it?

Speaker 3 (03:47):
McDonald's Every time, at least twice a month, I sneak
it into my home or sit in my car and
eat it.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
But I don't let them eat it because it's bad
for you.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
And I know this, but I'm still gonna eat.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
It, Leslie, Thank you Chili. Have you ever done that,
like grab some thing in a fast food place and
had it in the car?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
No?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Hey, I totally hear where Leslie's coming from. I do
sneak some fries before the happy meal is delivered to
the home, but I don't eat the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
All right, Oh, I'll go a step beyond the fries.
If I see like the mazzarella sticks or something like that,
and it's new and they have some sort of like
ranch flavor to it, I'll be like, that sounds tasty.
I think I'll try that. Leslie, thanks for taking part
in the conversation this morning where Toby and Chilly in
the morning. If you're guilty of secret eating, what is
it that you eat? Where do you eat it? Tell

(04:31):
us your story. We don't judge around here. We might
laugh because well, you know, we probably do the same thing.
You know where to find us at eighty six y
six Wash FM, the number one. Toby and Chilly in
the Morning need to be inspired. Well, we'll try to
do just that with your morning mindset. On the way in,
let's talk about you and your mindset, Toby and Chilly
in the Morning. You are on ninety seven point one WASHFM.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
What is the quote you've got for us today?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
I really love this guy, Gary Vee. Some people say
he's non traditional Lenny's and he's not conventional, and he's
pretty brash, but nonetheless he's not wrong. He's absolutely right
with some of the stuff he says, Like listen to this,
You're gonna change one way or another. You're gonna change,

(05:15):
according to Gary Vee, one way or another. If that's
an intangible in life, if that's a truth in this life,
that means change is inevitable, it is going to happen.
So my question is this, If you know you're going
to change, what are you going to do to influence it?
What are you gonna do when it comes your way?
Are you gonna embrace it, run from it, or stick

(05:37):
your head in the sand and do nothing about it.
Bottom line, you're gonna change. You are gonna change one
way or another. Keep that in mind today, apply it
to your life and if it helps, you can find
that quote and you can share it with someone who
might need to hear it. Toby and Chilipage WASHFM dot com.
That's your morning mindset for this Thursday September twelfth, on

(05:58):

Let's start with the positive. John bon Jovi is a
hero for saving a woman's life.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
It's now or never, it's my life. Find out what
went down in minutes. Buckle up, y'all. Lots of entertainment news.
We've encapsulated all of it for you. We call it
big words, we call it show biz Buzz's ninety seven
point one Watch at them. Chili's been working hard to
find what we need to know this morning, and you
tease us with this John bon Jovie thing. What's going on?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, Tennessee police praising him for saving a woman's life.
So this week, bon Jovi was in Nashville, where he
was filing a music video on top of a bridge
when he noticed a woman who looked like she was
about to jump, So he and a member of his
team approached her and they talked to her for several
minutes before they helped her back to the sidewalk. So

(06:52):
good for you. John Taylor Swift took home seven awards
at the VMA's last Night bringing her to a career
total of thirty eight. That means she tied Beyonce's record.
During her acceptance speech for winning Video of the Year
for Fortnite, she thanked her boyfriend Travis Kelsey for being
on the set and cheering her on. Now, speaking of Taylor,

(07:12):
she may boost voter registration in this year's election. A
government officials say that after Taylor posted her endorsement of
Vice President Kamala Harris, nearly three hundred thirty eight thousand
people use the links she shared to vote dot gov.
Justin Timberlake dodged DUI charges in New York after making
a plea deal. As you remember back in June, he

(07:35):
was arrested for driving erradically outside a hotel well. According
to TMZ, the deal would see Justin pay somewhere between
three hundred and five hundred dollars fine, with the exact
amount to be set by a judge, and he'll also
have his license suspended. And former WWE star Nikki Bella
has officially filed for divorce from Dancing with the Stars

(07:56):
pro Ardam SCHIGMNZEV two weeks after he was arrested for violence,
and they have a four year old Son together. That
is your show bus buzz.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
More news for you on the way right around six o'clock.
We call it Top Stories at the top of the Hour,
DC your information briefing is on the way. It's ninety
seven point one wastch FM. Thanks for waking up with
Toby and Chilly in the morning. I try not to hiccup.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
House Speaker Mike Johnson is pulling a government funding bill
after GOP support for it collapsed. Yesterday. Over a dozen
Republicans withdrew their support for the proposed legislation that's tied
to voter id laws. Now, if a funding plan is
not passed, the government will shut down on October first.
Drivers are being warned about street closures today tied to

(08:43):
the funeral of a DC Police officer. Services for Officer

So parts of the outer loop of the Beltway US
fifty and even some local roads will be affected by
a rolling closure between one and three pm. The Loud
County school System is going to be increasing security today

(09:04):
after multiple threats were received. Those threats were reported yesterday
and investigators determined they were not credible. A safety improvement
project that would have added a pedestrian bridge along James
Madison Highway near Battlefield High School in Haymarket maybe in jeopardy.
Officials say both the estimated cost and lack of pedestrian

(09:26):
pedestrian traffic may result in Prince William County officials exploring
other safety alternatives. And according to a recent survey, the
age when life, money, and the future starts to really
feel real is twenty seven years old. Respond and say
that adulting happens when people start having to pay their
own bills, and forty two percent say that being an

(09:48):
adult is a lot harder than they thought it would be.
Forecasts forty day, partly sunny, highs around eighty two Right
now fifty eight in Riverdale.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Hey, if your significant other makes a change to their
appearing and you didn't really know the change was coming,
what's the right way to bring that up? Chili?

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Oh no, what did she do?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I say?

Speaker 3 (10:07):
That?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Is that heatero guy talking to a hetero female. Well,
I'll tell you what went down coming up in a
few minutes. How I reacted and I feel like I
may not have been right on with how I reacted.
More on this coming up in minutes. Stay with Toby
and Chili in the morning. Toby and Chili in the morning. Hey, Chili,
I gotta ask you, how do you politely ask your

(10:28):
significant other if they've had some work done talking about
plastic surgery type work at ninety seven point one watch
FM and if you've got thoughts, by the way, you
can call right now at eight sixty six nineteen seven
forty three sixty one, or tap the microphone on the
talk back if you're signed into your I Heart app.
It's to Mike with the circle around it. Just taps
speak for thirty seconds. Share your thoughts. Here's what happened. Backstory, Chili,

(10:52):
my significant other had her lips plumped. I didn't know
she was having I don't even know what you call that.
I'd just say, they plump your lips.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Yeah, oh yeah, and then they do look very plumping.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Pillows on your face.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Well, I noticed that she had that done, and it
must have been recent, because again I don't do plastic surgery,
but I guess that if they're very plumped, it was recent, right.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
They need to sort of calm down a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Well, she asked me to go in for a kiss
while they were really really plumped, And I'm like, are
you sure that's okay because it looks like you're having
an allergic reaction to something. Did you get like a
bite from a mosquito or a spider?

Speaker 3 (11:28):
So you did not know that she got lip injections
when she asked you for a kiss.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
No, And when she went in it started a whole conversation.
I was like, Hey, is something wrong with your lips?
By the way, I didn't I didn't know the right
way to bring it up, so I just went there.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
I'm like, what I mean, that's not your fault. If
she made a drastic change to her face, and if
she didn't tell you what she was gonna get done,
I'm not gonna fault you for thinking it was some
sort of allergic reaction. And does it bother you though
that she didn't say she was going to not ask permission.
I'm not saying that, but that she didn't warn you
a little bit that she might look a little different

(12:03):
when she sees you next.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Well, the two devils on my shoulder, the left one
says it's none of your business. You just leave that alone.
Leave one enough alone, don't bring it up. And the
other devil on the other shoulder is like I probably
would have liked to know, because yes, I really thought
we needed to consider maybe going to the er the
urgent carriers, because I mean they just I mean they

(12:26):
did not look normal.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
No that's good, No they don't usually they are very
very plumped. But I know that if if I were
to show up and not tell my husband that I
was gonna make a drastic change, it would bug him,
and vice versa. I think if you were to come in,
like if you shaved his whole head bald without at
least warning me or something, then then you you risk

(12:50):
a reaction you may not like.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
So because of the relationship situation, it is your business,
it's not none your business.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Well yeah, because you're gonna be kissing that.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Mouth, so I get the hall pass.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Then yes, it's okay that you thought it was an
alert degree act.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
Man.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I've had this like in the back of my head
since I basically felt like I put my foot in
my mouth barbecue it first, then ate it because I
was like, oh, this is just not good, all right, well,
now I feel a little bit better about life.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Kelby and Chilly's nearly impossible questions so good.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
I think we should play a game and get some
Pentatonics tickets for somebody who might want to see them,
just in time for the holidays. Thanks to Live Nation,
we've got these tickets.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
For Forty percent of us still have this or these

one Penatonics coming to town, got tickets for you. The
question again?

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Forty percent of us still have these in our homes
and cars, even though we no longer use them.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Well, I guess get it right. You'll win and we'll
all learn something along the way together. And that's the
point of your nearly impossible question. The game is on
the answer in mine, Toby.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
And Chilli's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
What is the question again? This morning?

Speaker 3 (14:05):
There, chiliamar, forty percent of us still have these in
our homes and cars, even though we no longer use them.
What are they?

Speaker 2 (14:12):

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Nation this morning, Fingercross, I think that we're talking about CDs.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Yes, indeed, I guess those are still a thing. If
you've got a player, Mabel, do you have some in
your home or car?

Speaker 4 (14:37):
I need to confess that I do, and I listen
to them.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
I'm I'm also the like CDs, so yes, I do.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
The quality, the sound quality is much better my opinion.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Okay, you know what. I will give you that because
sometimes it is. But I can't recall the last time
I've actually used the CD player in my car for anything.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Time to go back.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
You think that would require that I try to find
some CDs, and I think I might have donated them
all to goodwill.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Oh yeah, well you know what's not a problem, your guest,
because that's the correct answer.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Congratulations, Thank you. I'm very excited.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Thank you very much for having me in the.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Show Pentaitonics Eagle Bank Arena in November on the twenty first.

Toby and Chilly in the morning and our numbers eighty
sixty six wash FM, the number one Chilly. Is there
a hobby that you wish you could turn into your career?
I know you saw some of the news this week's
sleining Gomez basically saying that music's not a prior is
a prior hobby that went out of control and became
her life?

Speaker 3 (18:30):
Yeah, because Lena said acting was her true passion and
music just sort of happened. And by the way, she's
now one point three billionaire, you know, like, Okay, that's yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
That's an awesome hobby to have.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Okay, Well, if I had to pick a hobby, yeah,
I really do love trying different wines, exploring culinary things.
So sure, I'd love to make a career out of that.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
You know, I could see you doing that, like like
starting a website. By the way, this is trademark what
I'm about to say. You should start a website that
says not that. That's called not a psalm dot com
and just like drink a lot of wine and yeah,
you don't have to be You're just giving you a
mom from Northern Virginia. And I'm gonna tell you here's
what I think about this rose. That would be a

(19:15):
very fruitful hobby, and a lot of people, I think would.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Look, maybe if this thing doesn't work out. Now, if
you had to pick a hobby that you wish you
could make a career out of.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
I would go back to writing because I love writing anyway,
and I never really get the chance to do it anymore,
but specifically writing and reporting like I used to do
when I was much younger for newspapers, and I would
be a travel reporter because then I could fly to
different places on the company dime, report about it, tell
people all about it, like you know some of those
blogs we see, like view from the Wing and whatnot.

(19:45):
I would love. That would be a hobby that would pay.
I'm not sure how much it would pay, nor do
I know if it would pay the bills, but it
would be a hobby I would love. I would love.
What about you? Right there? You in Fairfax listening to us?
So you on two seventy it's ninety seven point one WASHFM.
Maybe you're about to get on the Baltimore Washington Parkway.
Do you have a hobby that you wish you could

(20:06):
turn into a career instead of the career that you're
driving to do right now? What is it? There's no
right answer, there's no wrong answer, But we love hearing
your answers and your story. So call us at eight
sixty six nineteen seven forty three sixty one. What of
those stories we love hearing, too? Would be your crazy,
good or bad first date story?

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Coming up? Lindsay and Arlington's gonna tell us about the
date who got out of the table, got off the table,
and less it's a complete different person.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Okay, that story is less than fifteen minutes away. It's
ninety seven point one WASHFM. It's seven twenty five.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
It's Toby and Chilli's crazy first date.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Lindsey is from Arlington with a crazy first date story
to tell. So what's up.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
There was a guy who I knew from just classes.
We didn't really have mutual overlap, but we had been flirting,
you know, before and after our class, and one day
he asked me to go out on a date with him.
We went to a Italian restaurant off campus and he
starts getting really distracted and he keeps looking over at

(21:10):
a table near us, and then he tells me, you know,
this is awkward, but that's my ext girlfriend over there,
and we made eye contacts, and like, now I feel weird,
so I'm just going to go over and say hi.
I was just like, oh, of course, I totally understand.
He doesn't ever end up coming back over to our table.
He just leaves with her. I'm then left with the

(21:32):
bill and no way to get home because he drove
us there. So I had to ask the manager if
they could call me a cab, but I wasn't expecting
to have to take a cab, so I didn't have
any cash.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
So then the cab had.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
To drive me all around looking for an ATM. This
date ended up constantly quite a lot, both in terms
of money and humiliation.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
So at some point you go back to school, do
you confront him? Does he apologize?

Speaker 4 (22:03):
He never apologized. I just would throw a daggers at class.
There was no more flirting before and after class.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
And that's exactly how you should have treated that person.
As a reformed serial person of that type, I can
