Speaker 1 (00:00):
Why are you feeling good this Monday morning before five?
It's ninety seven point one WASHFM, w'ere Tobe and Chilly
in the morning and you can jump in right now
if you want to, at eighty six six nineteen seven
forty three sixty one. Ladies first, Chilli, Why are you
feeling good this morning? Before five?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
We as a family went to see The Wild Robot
over the weekend and it was very nice.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
It looks like it was number one at the box
office around the world. Who seems that it did incredibly well,
beat on all othercomers, including some Francis fort Coppola film.
I was very excited for that. Was it good?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
It was good?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I mean it's not it's not like one of our
favorite movies. But I did cry and it makes my
son very uncomfortable when I cry.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Well, that's the point of a good movie. A good
story should cause you to have an emotional reaction.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yes, why are you feeling good?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Because I slept with my dog in bed for the
most part over the weekend, crossing a rubicon in the
relationship between Nova Luna and I.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Wow, we've we've reached a new level.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Of well, you know, I was watching on YouTube and
on that geo some stuff with what's his name, Caesar
Malan the dog Whisper, and he said that it's a
sign that number one, your relationship has reached a trusting
new level where you both will sleep in the bed
and it's good for you as a human being, because apparently, yes,
(01:21):
it's calming, reduces anxiety, it's good for circulation. While I'm
claiming all of those promises, no Balluna can sleep in
my bed all she wants. If it'll bring my medical
bills down, that's great, and it'll help with these little things.
But it was the first time that she had done it.
And then yesterday it's like she waited for me to
go to bed. She's like, we're going to bed now, right,
(01:43):
We're going to bed. I don't want to sleep in
my sleeping timehouse, which is her creat.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Yes, it's always nice when you can snuggle up with
a pooch.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
I just hope she was happy about me getting up
early this morning to leave. But hey, baby steps one
at a time, right, Why are you feeling good this morning?

than that song when you're working out.

and then I realized at the end of the weekend,
I've listened to it like fifty times by mister. Mister

Be led by the dreams in your heart. Think about
that this morning. Don't be pushed around by the fears
in your mind. And that's oftentimes where they live for
whatever reason, good bad. Maybe it's say it's a thing
(05:01):
I don't know, but don't be pushed around by those fears. Instead,
be led by the dreams that you have in your heart,
and those fears will subside and you'll find something to
press on toward today. Roy T. Bennett with a little
bit of inspiration this morning in the form of your
morning mindset for this Monday, the thirtieth day of September.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Good morning, Helby and Chile's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Here comes the question again one more time in case
you missed it.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
According to a study, you're more likely to get stung
by a bee if you're doing this activity.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
What is it? The number is eight six six, ninet
two seven forty three sixty one to West Virginia, Wild
and wonderful we go, Good morning. What's your name?

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Knock on wood.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
They will stay that way on a Monday because quiet
Mondays are a good thing. You've got the question for
the tickets to Penatonics Eagle Bank Arena. Think you live Nation?
Speaker 3 (07:50):
What is your guests swimming?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Wow? Stung by a bee while swimming? I've come close,
but I've never been stung.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
It's so funny because I would go into the water
to get away from a bee. That key.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Do you think it's because they smell like all the
sunscreen you put on you and it's got like aloe
and different like flowers and botanicals in it.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Yeah, I believe so sunblocking.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Yeah, like coconut.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Yeah, swimming is an excellent guess. It's also the correct answer.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Kim nice, very nice.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
So you're gonna go to Pentatonics? Now you Gole Bank Arena.
Thanks to Live Nation, these tickets are yours. Thank you
so much, and thank you for teaching us something new
that you're more likely to get stung by a bee
if you go swimming.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Who knew exactly. I've been swept, so that's how I
came up.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
With the answer. Ooh lord, and I thought mosquitoes were bad. Well, congratulations,
enjoy Pentatonics. Thank you so much, You're welcoming. Thanks for
listening to ninety seven point one wash FM. Tomorrow morning,
more tickets Pentatonics, Eagle Bank Arena. With another round of
your nearly impossible question. Need the news stay there? I
got you covered top stories at the top of the
hour that's on the way. It's a place that conjures
(09:03):
all the nostalgic feels for you, but it's not as
big as it used to be. Here. In some cases
it doesn't even exist. What a nostalgic place? Do you
wish you could make a comeback Tobia and chilly in
the morning, it's ninety seven point one. Wash f them
bring it up, because you know, we're starting to see
little things pop up now. And then there was a
story that floated around the internet last week saying that
a rainforest cafe, the only one of which that I
(09:25):
can tell you that I know I've ever been to,
is the one that the Animal Kingdom down in Orlando
at Walt Disney World. But I guess they're opening one
in New York, and I guess they used to be
a bigger deal than they are now.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Oh yeah, there was one in Tyson's Corner mall on
downstairs and it was a great place to go, but
they shut it down.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
So what's old is new again? I suppose, I guess.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
But sometimes you need to bring back the old stuff
because there's a whole generation of people that weren't exposed
to the goodness of.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Things true, very true.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
One of the things that comes to mind, for example,
that was also in Tyson's Corner and in a lot
of malls across the country, was a Ferals ice cream parlor.
This was the place you wanted to go to to
celebrate your birthday. They had people coming out with their
pinstriped shirts banging on these big marching band drums when
it was your birthday. They had a Sunday called the
(10:15):
Zoo that was like seven pounds of ice.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Cream, and there was a candy store out front before
you walk to the restaurant.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Part man, I will tell you I didn't grow up
around here, so I don't know about that. The closest
that I can relate to when it comes to that
is like, there used to be like one of those
soda jerks at a fountain in Katie, Texas, which is
where I grew up, and you could actually go and
get ice cream and real coke floats there and it
was better than like an ice cream store. But I've
not seen one since.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Okay, I will say, you want to bring back the float.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Well, no, what's more relatable, I think is this place
that was called Waxi Maxis. It was a chain, it
was a vinyl shop, it was a record store. Record
stores in general, I wish would make a comeback, But
this Waxi Maxies used to be next door to the
radio station near From what I'm told, it's a container store. Now, yeah,
but I heard you could go in there and get
lost for hours. And a friend of mine used to
(11:04):
be a manager there, and like a Tower.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Records was another place. And Vinyl is making a comeback
with gen Z, So I wouldn't be surprised if we
did start to see I would hope.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
So, I just don't know if we'll ever see them like,
you know, like say, like when they were at the
mall and there would be like a Vinyl place at
the mall, you know, I don't I don't know that
they'll ever be like that again, because they're a little
too niche. But nonetheless, you're right, it would be good
to go back and experience some of this, especially for
people that never got the chance to go through or
(11:37):
to enjoy what this was all about. Is there a
place that makes you nostalgic right now listening to Toby
and Tilly in the morning that you think needs to
make a comeback? What is it? Eight six six wash FM?
The number one eight six six nine two seven forty
three sixty one. The talkback microphone is open for you too.
If you're signed into your iHeart app. Go ahead and
tap that microphone. You'll see it. Spam us, leave us
(11:57):
a message, tell us what you wish would make a back.
We'll get into this after eight. But coming up in
just minutes a story that we think might make your
Monday that is just a metro right away.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Maurice Yarbor is a man who is the manager at
Union Station Metro and he is bringing positivity to all
the passengers' lives every day.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
The story that we think will make your Monday. You're
going to want to hear this next. If you hop
on a Redline train, a Metro and you take it
down to Union Station, chances are good you'll run into
the subject to today's edition of Make Your Monday, Toby
and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one
was Chef m Who is this subject? Maurice Yarbor is
his name. Why is Maurice Yarbor the station manager at
(12:39):
Union Station? For Metro importance.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Because he has a tendency to Brighten's every Wednesday. You know,
Union Station, if you've never been, can be very daunting.
It is a huge metro station. And his positive message
to people every day as well as his guidances.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Really why we're talking about him.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I try to do it with everyone I can.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I'm in contact with whatever way God allows me to
help somebody. That's what I'm here for.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
You might encounter Maurice telling you to have a good day,
You'll be like, who are you? He's Maurice, He's the
station manager. And this is the way he is with
everybody he encounters because of what he's been through in life.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
His dad was in and out of prison and then
died when Maurice was just sixteen years old. But he
didn't let that grief or that past affect how he
is towards others today.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
No, he says, here at Union Station, you're going to
get a lot of love. So he gives the love,
and he also says you have to be ready for
it receiving this love when you come into his station.
And apparently people from all over, including people who have
just moved to DC, tourists and regulars alike, love their
encounters with him. Some even say it's like running into
(13:46):
an old friend from high school.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
And I love how he says that. You know, people
are all flustered.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Sometimes they're trying to catch a train or maybe they
missed a train, and then there's good old Maurice greeting
them with a smile and giving them something to smile about.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
It is true that if everybody found the time to
be like this Maurice, this man who manages his Union
station for Metro, with a little bit of happiness, a
little bit of joy and a positive attitude, the world
might be a better place. I think the world can
be that place as long as we follow the example
(14:20):
of people like Maurice that he sets every day. It
just happens to be his job. So next time you're
a Union station, take a look for the manager of
the station, Maurice Yarbor, and tell him that we said
thank you for making our Monday with his story and
his example on how to live life.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
And if you want to read more on the story,
you can find it on the Toby and Chili page
at waschfm dot com.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
So it's the first time in a while they've reopened
a rainforest cafe. This one's coming to New York City,
Toby and Chilly in the morning, it's ninety seven point
one WASHCHFM, and people are feeling all the nostalgic feels
about places that have come and gone, and hoping that
maybe those places that have gone can go again.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
We added two of our own, I said, Farrell's ice
Cream Parlor and Toby wants a Waxy Maxie record store
to make a comeback.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
And that's why we want to hear from you this morning,
Katie and Burtonsville. You know you have a voice with
Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's a place that
makes you nostalgic. You wish you could make a comeback.
Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Would you really bring back the od Nicodees for the
kids of this generation? You know what I mean? No,
what exactly do you mean? I love the old school
McDonald's that had playgrounds for kids. I just don't know.
I feel like McDonald's now it's so sterial and cold.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Well maybe I'm in the minority because there's a mom.
I'm really glad I don't have to pull my kid
out of that place.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
I no, no, Well, there's a son who enjoyed those
McDonald's play places back in the day. I would hide
out for hours in that mcgrimace ball pit, and then
there was something I could climb inside of. It looks
like a big mac tree. The Petri dishle Miguel over
at Tacoma Park. You're a nostalgic for what place that
you think needs to make a comeback? Go ahead? I
would have loved to see Blockbuster come back. What id
(15:58):
he doesn't really.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Need a blog usher, But I miss it. You know.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
I used to love going there on a Friday, I
running a movie for the weekend and buying snacks and things.
It was actually a fun night.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
The only thing I don't miss about that is trying
to make a decision.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
You sit there and argue which one to take home.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
I don't miss renting a Blockbuster movie and then accidentally
forgetting to take it back on time and getting nailed
with those late fees. Yeah, those got me in more
trouble with my mom and dad than I care to.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Remember, because you weren't kind and didn't rewind.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Oh no, I rewound when I took them back.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Toby and Chili pressed the more music reason at eight
forty overt
