Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one, Chaffey, Well,
the Commanders went out to the mileHigh City, Chili, and they
came away with a win barely.May not have been pretty, but a
win is a win. Is awin, is a win, is a
win. It doesn't matter how youwin, as long as you win by
one. They won by two.Well that well, Hey, a win
(00:21):
is a win though, is itnot? Oh? It is, but
you know, I got to takeinto consideration how they won and should they
have won a little easier. Chi. A win is a win. Yes.
Any win you can walk away fromis a good win. Yes,
even if it caused people stress andanxiety. It's not about you. It's
(00:43):
about the win and the team win. That's right. Welcome to Monday morning,
right on, Commanders. Fans offootball Sunday treated you some sort of
way, or maybe Saturday and thenfootball Sunday. Welcome to Monday. You
can shake off the weekend like therest of us, because it's a deaf
it leave been a weekend. Letme just tell you. Yeah, I
don't know about you, but Iknow the Commander's faithful. We're very excited
(01:04):
on the social media of things.Yeah, well they were very near heart
attack on social I mean, Iknow you've very hung up on the that's
like, yeah, you've got tolike just embrace the win. I can
embrace the win and then look athow it happened to you. I mean,
just like with anything, you know, life sometimes ain't pretty. But
(01:26):
that's true. You know what itmeans. It means I know you can
do better. That's what that means. Well, they can, but this
time last year, people were noteven optimistic about it, you know,
Oh my god. Oh yes.And speaking of which, the Commander's bills.
We've got tickets for this week onthe show, by the way,
(01:49):
that game is for this coming weekendat fed X the twenty fourth. If
you want to go, here's howyou get the tickets from us. Coming
up today, we want you toshare your crazy first date story, the
one you've told your friends about overthe years. Now it's our turn to
hear that story, and if weshare it with everyone tomorrow morning, well
you're gonna go see the Commanders athome this weekend. And it could be
a date that happened over the weekends, so it might be something that's just
totally brand new you haven't had achance to share anything with anyone yet.
(02:13):
Well, if the commanders mean somethingto you, or the bills, or
going to see a football game forfree, the numbers eight six, six,
nine, two, seven, fortythree sixty one, don't hesitate to
use it. This morning with thatstory, we're Toby and Chili in the
Morning. It's ninety seven point onewatch FM speaking of it's not stories,
it's actually a fact. Chili.Parents are spending a lot more time than
(02:35):
their kids on these devices. Howmuch time. We'll tell you all about
it. Coming up next is Tobyand Chili in the Morning continues on this
Monday. If you're on your wayto work this morning, or you feel
like you work all day every day, you can relate to this Toby and
Chili in the Morning ninety seven pointone watch FM. Seems that parents are
spending more time on their devices everyday than they're spending time with their kids.
(02:58):
Yeah, mom and dad are droppingfive hours a day on these devices.
They spend less than four hours, according to this research, doing anything
meaningful at all with the children. So I need a little bit of clarification,
and I don't know that they gointo this but like parents being on
their devices for work reasons or parentson their devices to kill time and look
(03:22):
on figets for all kinds of reasons, all the all reasons thrown in them
went together. You know, theytalked to two thousand parents, right,
I guess most parents owned three electronicdevices, are more their kids own at
least two. And mom and dad, yeah, well they're you know,
on they're doing their thing, lookingaround it's stuff, you know, hanging
(03:44):
on different chat boards, doing thesocial media thing. I think part of
the issue is we are so accessibleonce we leave the office. If we
have our phones on us and weset it to getting any kind of email
alerts, you want to see what'sup, because if there's something that the
boss needs or whatever needs you,at the very least you're glancing at it.
(04:06):
And so I think that the moreaccessible we became the electronics, yes,
the more time we certainly are onour phones and other devices or laptops
or whatever trying to get stuff done. It's sad. Look, it's a
very different time now than when youand I and you know, but but
you know, there is something thatI saw on YouTube, like some parenting
(04:28):
YouTube video thing, and you know, somebody made the argument, well,
you know, we have to beon it for work and on or this,
or I have to be on itfor whatever. I have to be
accessible to the bosses. And thewoman goes, no, you don't.
You have time that you can chooseto be accessible in time, you can
choose to be accessible to your kids. And I'm like, okay, well
that's interesting. So if you planit out that way, yes, then
(04:50):
you know what, hey, maybeyou can start to take back some of
that family time that you've lost, right, you know what, Hey,
it is what it is. We'rea highly connected society and unfortunately, or
fortunately, I guess this is abyproduct. So yeah, at the very
least and put it down at dinnerand just have it. Yeah, yeah,
and be there for your kids. And being there for your kids means,
(05:10):
you know, sometimes you have tosit on your mobile device at least.
Maybe that's just what I do.Seems to work. When I sit
on my phone, then I can'tpay attention to it. Good stuff.

few minutes. Un Tilly and Chillyin the morning. Are you thinking about
another kid? M? Well, did you know that science says there's a
(10:58):
wreck amended age gap that you shouldwait between siblings. Yeah, they did.
They found some research and they've proventhis point. We'll talk about it.
Come up. It's even more exhaustingat times being your friendly neighborhood radio
antihero. Hi, that's me,I'm the problem. It's me Toby Nap
at six twenty ninety seven point onewash FM. Chiliamar's here too. You
(11:18):
found Toby and Chili in the morningeight six, six nine two seven forty
three sixty one. The Sinners forDisease Control and the NIAH say that there
should be a five year age gapbetween siblings. Whoa you know, I'm
the oldest of four boys, Chili. There was not a five year age
gap between me and my brothers. And what about you and your sister?
We are three years apart, Soyou and your siblings are how many years
(11:39):
apart? Two seventy four. Toddwas seventy six, the twins were seventy
eight. Yeah, so two twotwo your mother was just making the baby.
Well, she got the bonus playingon the last one. Well,
that's true. So is five yearsthe recommendation because of like recovering your physically,
there's there's some of that, andthen there's you know, birth health,
(12:01):
the baby's health and wellness, mom'shealth and wellness. Sure, without
digging too deep into it, becauseit's science and you know, science can
be very very involved at times.Basically, they say that that is the
sweet spot. But I feel likemaybe five is a little bit too long.
I do do. I think thatthat's a bigger gap. I think
the reason I say that is becausethe child, the first whatever child is
(12:22):
in kindergarten when you have the baby. Ideally, right, you want your
kids to sort of be close inage so that they can get along.
But there's a big developmental difference betweenan infant and a five year old.
Truth, although it might be easierbecause you've got one in kindergarten and the
other one in diapers again, youknow what I mean. So I do
remember at thirteen thirteen twelve eleven,Todd was eleven. I think thirteen was
(12:46):
about the time when I started theother job that I had as being the
firstborn son, and that was thein family free babysitting well well, therein
lies the other advantage for mom anddad, as you can use the older
sibling to help you with the kids, although they never asked for that.
Rarely and not my fault. I'molder, come to think of it,
I'm I'm owed for that back paysomebody needs to collect. If you've got
(13:11):
thoughts on the gap, the agegap between kids, what's the age gap

guess a lot of people do singthat song. I would imagine that song
(14:33):
is sung more than the other two. You would think, Well, but
you know, baseball season does kindof skew everything. One hundred and sixty
two games. People have birthdays everyday, Toby, I know, but
you know that's a heck of aguest. Deborah, where did you pull
that one from? Just a luckyyes, well lucky indeed, so lucky
that you're gonna go see Jesus ChristSuperstar. Capital One Hall. Congratulations.
(14:54):
All right, thank you. That'sgreat. It's a wonderful venue. If
you haven't been out near Tyson thiscorner, yeah, I think I've been

all these years? Wow, Ishould have settled down a long time ago.
Thanks for the news this morning. There a Chilia mart Tiby nap is
my name? You've got ninety sevenpoint one wash f them. We're toill
(17:33):
be in Chili in the morning.Coming up in just a few minutes.
Speaking of wondering where all your moneyyou went, when's the last time you
checked your credit cards? Have younoticed anything out of sorts? What would
you do if you discovered twenty sixhundred dollars in unauthorized erratic charges? Cry?
Yeah, well there was a wholelot of crying going on for well
me and I'll tell you why andhow we caught it. Coming up at
(17:56):
seven twenty five on Monday. It'sninety seven point one. Wash FM told
me in Chili in the morning onthis September eighteenth, when's the last time
you checked all of your credit cardsto make sure all of the purchases that
you have on your accounts are legitimate. Well, yeah, I just relying
on them to tell me if they'renot legitimate. What happened here? Yeah,
(18:17):
let's just say, Chili, I'mchecking my statements twice and three times
and four times a week. Nowhere's why. The other day on the
show, right as we were startingto wrap up, I noticed that I
missed a call from my credit cardcompany, and I could tell from the
caller ID that it was American Express, and I was like, yeah,
I'll get back to that. Iwonder where it was, could just have
been anything. On the way home, I get a follow up text from
(18:40):
them and it's like, please contactus right away about potential fraud on your
account. So I pull over andgo right away to check the app,
and I noticed twenty six hundred dollarsin random purchases of random amounts for something
having to do with the video gameThe sim Okay, hold on a second,
(19:02):
if it's something to do the videogame. I know your daughter is
into gaming. How did you knowit wasn't her? Well, I knew
that it was on her card becauseit pops up with her name underneath it,
underneath the charge saying this was authorizedby your daughter's card in her name
on your account. Okay, soyour daughter is a gamer, right,
(19:23):
Yeah, but twenty six hundred dollarsworth of random fifty four ninety nine charges
and eight ninety nine charges, whyI take it it wasn't her? Oh,
Chilian? And it was happening seventimes, four, five, six,
seven times a day like clockwork, since September second, which is the
same time kind of went back toschool in Boston at Emerson. Okay,
So usually when something like this happens, you're not on the hook as the
(19:47):
consumer for that amount because it's fraudulent. Correct, But there's a part of
all of us that goes, whatwhy? Like what do you? Yeah?
I mean important? Yeah, takemy credit card? Really? Like
like who who is now playing theSIMS with about every possible pack that you
could possibly have? And it's aninconvenience? Oh lord? You know what?
And by the way, too,you know you you call the card
(20:10):
company back and you talk to themand you you're trying to be real honest
with them, and you know, because you know that, hey, I'm
not on the I don't want tobe on the hook for this, but
there are probably some purchases that arelegitimate that are on there. So we
went through line by line. Butyou know, then I had to change
the number. Then I had toturn off this thing. Then I had
to go through and have Kyla gothrough and turn off anything tied to her
(20:30):
card and and all of the stuff. And then by the way, I
didn't have them send the card toschool. I had them sent to here.
It's just and I'm still digging outfrom it. But I gotta tell
you the moral of the story is, Chili, I'm checking this stuff like
every day now. Yeah, Iknow, just because just because boo to
anybody who does that, and towhomever's playing the SIMS with all of these
(20:51):
fifty four ninety nine gadget packs orwhatever card you're having a great time.
Karma will get you God willing.Well, if you need some goodcarmer,
you need to stay right there fora story that we think might just make
your Monday. And it's kind ofan appropriate story as we start this National
Dog Week Chili pet pantry doing goodfor pet owners in the DMV. Yeah,
(21:12):
very cool idea, and we're goingto tell you all about it in
a story that we think might justmake your Monday. Coming up in minutes
and tell me your Chili in themorning continue, Well, you were right
about need to do some jumping jackstoday, Chili. I'm feeling the drag
of Monday. Tell me in Chiliin the morning, ninety seven point one
wash FM. Well, let's goto Alexandria now for a story that we
think might just make your Monday. And these days, you know, the
(21:33):
cost of everything is up, andthis applies to the cost of taking care
of our furry friends and furry familymembers. That's why we're so excited that
the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria haswhat they're call a pet pantry within their
shelter. Now, you know thehuman pantry, there's little boxes sometimes that
are outside of churches or neighborhood rightwhere people can put food for anybody who
(21:56):
needs it. Yeah, imagine aversion of that, but for animals,
right, And you may be sayingto yourself, well, you know,
this is not unique, or theyhave a pet pantry in DC or somewhere
in Montgomery County. Yeah, butin DC you have to show that you
know, you're a resident of DC, and ditto some other places, but
not so in Alexandria. If youhave a need, you've just got to
(22:19):
show up. They started giving awaypet food back in twenty twenty. That's
when they open this pantry. Andof course you would think about dogs and
cats, but they're quick to pointout food for rabbits, didny pigs,
hamsters, even reptiles available in thepet pantry. And Alexandria it's the one
on the Eisenhower Avenue location, soyou don't have to show them proof of
income or where you live. Andif you want to make donations you can
(22:42):
go there. Which this is allreally spousial, because pets become like part
of our family, right and Iknow a lot of people are living paycheck
to paycheck right now. We certainlywouldn't want costs to be a reason why
somebody gives up a pet, rightthey're hoping that this prevents pets from showing
up in shelter. No, hewants to do that at all. And
so in order to help raise moneyfor this. They do free vaccine clinics
(23:04):
for pets and more. And ifyou want to give, you can the
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria High Tobyuse your grown up words. You can
donate on their website and on theirsocial media pages. Will put links to

Old Welfare League of Alexandria. Thankyou for a story that we really found

lot of people, including you.You and your husband went to a wedding,
a family member's wedding over the weekend. Yeah, and we went to
a wedding where I thought I wouldget married one day, but we never
did the venue correct. So inmy twenties, when I was out and
(26:44):
about in Georgetown doing a happy hourthing one day, I looked across the
water and I thought, you knowwhat, I want to get married there.
That's where I want to get married, right there on the waterfront Washington

of venue to get married in.And when we got the invitation for my
cousin's wedding, I gotta admit therewas a moment of m A little bittersweet.
(27:07):
Now it's bittersweet. The venue wasthe Sequoia. We should point that
out, The Sequoia, which bythe way, is known as one of
the most beautiful spaces in DC.I know. I mean location, location,
location, location, exactly. Andso I said, well, we
didn't get married there, but let'sgo experience someone's wedding there, my cousin's

had beverages, food was delicious, music was good. But here's where
I'm able to turn the page andlet it go. Okay, it really
was smaller than what we could havecomedy, Does that make sense? Like
we had we would have had toslice our wedding guest list in half,
(27:56):
and the stress of that alone wouldnot have been weren't you know what I'm
like? So I am glad thatwe got to live vicariously through somebody else
and no once and for all whyit wasn't the right place for us.
It's really nice. It looks likeit's gorgeous. I mean, I feel
I feel like I've been there oncebefore, and the food looks incredible.
(28:18):
I don't think I see a badplace setting in the place. You know,
the great thing about this is Chiliis at least you got to go
and enjoy the food, the beverage, ambiance of the scenery, the dresses,
the people just looking so unbelievably wellput together. And it didn't cost
you a dyme amen to that, and there's nothing wrong with that. So
(28:41):
invite Chili to more weddings, especiallyat places like the Sequoia. I'll feel
free to feel free to invite metoo. Well, no, no,
no, you can get married. They're inviting me. Hello, are you
there? You just triggered me inthat commitment phobia thing again. Head over
to AFM dot com for the iHeartRadioapp.
