Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one. Oh, I
am out of routine this morning. It's ninety seven point one. Wash at
them. I'm Toby app along withChilian. R You've got Toby and Chili
in the morning. Chili. Iam feeling some sort of way because my
routine has been upended because Nova, our puppy, is with my significant other.

(00:21):
Oh okay, yeah, so whydid your girlfriend take the dog.
It's kind of like a wrap aroundtraining. I would say she wants to
immerse our puppy in her way ofgetting her I don't know, potty trained,
house trained, behaviorally trained. Soit's you know, like I remember

(00:44):
when I was in school that theyused to have something they would call a
wrap around program where if kids werelike, you know, like all over
the place right well, they wouldput somebody on them to where that they
were with them every day and everymoment and every class. How old is
Nova right now? Uh? Whatweeks? Yeah? So in theory Nova
should be further along with a pottytraining. She just isn't. And so

(01:07):
potty training slash crate training create training. Okay, So you're thinking, or
she was thinking, your girlfriend sayingI've got more time and to dedicate to
this, because I said to youwhen your daughter went back to college,
you're going to have to be prettyon point with all this otherwise it will
not work. So you just don'thave the time. Well, and you
know what, and I was doing. I thought, okay, But this

(01:29):
weekend, you know, my significantother was over. We rode through the
storm together at the place, andI think she just kind of took some
notes and she was like, youknow what, I'm making an executive decision.
I'm taking this dog and I'm training. Dog is coming with me and
we will be back. Well, okay, so when is that going to
happen? Is it? We'll beback when your girlfriend thinks it's time,

(01:52):
I would say. So I wouldsay that it will be when she thinks
it is time, or she'll beback and she'll have like a list of
instruction that I must follow like clockwork, right, because then you'll if you
don't follow through, you'll undo everythingthat she correct So you really, in
the end, it all comes downto you. Yep. So this morning,
I get up and normally the firstthing I do is go take the
dog out. And I was like, there's no dog to take out.

(02:15):
I'm confused as to what to dowith myself, so I just went and
laid down. Anyway, Welcome toMonday. We're Toby and Chili in the
morning. It's ninety seven point onewash FM. Hopefully your routine is not
too up ended, and if itis, well, new week, time
to start a new one. Staythere for even more so. You had
an interesting weekend. We're Toby andChili in the morning. It's ninety seven

(02:38):
point one wash FM. In themiddle of the day, luge. That
was a tropical storm. You hadto do an appearance, and you say
that there was something there that causedyou to be shook it. So there's
Add's discount store that just opened aMontgomery Village and for the grand opening they
had a clown and a mascot. Those two things. I'm not really fans

(02:58):
off nothing against the people who aremascots and clowns. This is a chili
problem, okay, And so isit a phobia. I don't know that
I would go that far, butit's definitely a discomfort and I think part
of the reason is because they're hidingbehind something for the clown. It's all
that makeup and they're all zamy andup in your personal sais. And then

(03:20):
with the mascot, same thing. You can't see their face and they're just
kind of messing with you. I'mjust not a fan of that. I'm
not a fan of Like so Screechfrom the Nationals, you're not a fan.
You're not a fan of what's what'shis name? Tuddy from the Commanders.
Anytime a mascot comes up to messwith me, I try to make
it as brief as possible. Theproblem is, when you're sitting at a

(03:43):
grand opening, it ain't brief. It's too out. There's there's no getting
away from it. So you're surroundedby mascots and clowns, which freaks you
out more the clowns or the mascots. Because I used to have a colleague,
he was a music director of oursback at another radio station, I
work that once upon a time, this guy just could not function around clowns.
I don't. I think clowns makeme more more uneasy, more uneasy,

(04:06):
and so I found other ways tobusy myself. I went to the
store manager, IM like, hey, can you just put me to work
like you want me to? Doyou greet people as they walk into want
me make announcements. So that's kindof what I did Toby, to stay
away from stay away from the clowns. This job came with clowns and mascots,

(04:26):
huh, yes, but it wasit was serious exposure therapy. Well,
you know, I want to Iwant to say this. I'm glad
you've brought this up now because we'reclosing gun on Halloween time and I now,
I don't know that I can ruleout the idea of dressing as a
clown that, yeah, because thatwill cause you some stress and some tumultuous
things and I don't want to beresponsible for that, or dressed like a
clown and just act like yourself.Well, I don't have to dress like

(04:51):
a clown to do that, notat all. Coming up in minutes producer
Kayle's Morning Mindset. It's Monday,DC ninety seven point one WASHFM. You've
got Toby and Chilling in the morningand Clowns ninety seven point one WASHFM.
Toby and Chili in the morning time. Now to pause for a little inspiration
from producer Kayla. We call thisher morning mindset, and the inspiration comes

(05:14):
in the form of a quote,What have you got for us? It
says, when something isn't important enough, you do it even if the odds
are not in your favor. Sometimesthe significance of a cause or a goal
can often outweigh the obstacles, andif you really want it, you'll do
whatever it takes to get it.It's Monday, so let's not let any

(05:34):
obstacles stand in our way to ourend goal. Okay, but I'll read
the quote one more time. Itsays, when something isn't important enough,
you do it even if the oddsare not in your favor. And you
can find that quote or you canshare your own using hashtag Morning Mindset on
the Toby Angeli page at washfm dotcom. There you go, Thanks,

(05:57):
Bruce. Kayla coming up in afew minutes. Boy, there's a lot
of an entertainment news that happened eventhrough the overnight last night into today.
What you got coming up with thisentertainment report? Yeah, so the writers
strike might finally be coming to anend, and we know who's going to
be headlining the super Bowl halftime.Yeah, that news was a little interesting
over the weekend. I was like, really really, but the jury is

(06:20):
out. I'm excited to see howthis all breaks down. More dats and
minutes. Stay, what's all beingchilly in the morning? All right,
big news when it comes to thesestrikes and the world of entertainment. And
this happened like through the overnight Nattyseven point one WASHFM. We're till be
in chilly in the morning. Sowhat's the latest chilling? Well, after
one hundred and forty six days onthe picket lines of writers strike might finally

(06:42):
be coming to an end after theWriter's Guild of America came to a tentative
agreement with entertainment companies last night.By the way, this doesn't mean Hollywood
is back to normal, because thereare still thousands of actors on strike looking
for similar changes. If you haven'theard yet, Usher is going to be
headlining the halftime show for Super Bowlfifty eight at Allegiance Stadium in Vegas February

(07:03):
eleventh. If you don't remember,he previously performed along with Black Eyed Peas
at the twenty eleven halftime show.Taylor Swift, Yes, she was spotted
cheering on Kansas City Chiefs tight endTravis Kelsey at Arrowhead Stadium yesterday as his
team defeated the Bears. She happenedto be sitting next to Travis's mom and

(07:25):
also wearing a chief's jacket. Arecent event thrown by Courtney Kardashian has really
upset the city's mayor and has promptedhim to speak out about it on social
media. Bruce Silverstein complained after Courtney'swellness event for friends of her lifestyle brand
Poosh was granted a permit to havethe event, which he says is something
that a normal citizen of Malibu cannotget. And a new film highlights the

(07:48):
importance of African American women in thecorporate world. It's called on Board.
The film it made its debut inDC over the weekend. It celebrates the
history of black women on corporate boards. And the movie has already won the
Jury Award at the Essence Film Festival. And that is your show biz bus.

(08:09):

They say this next phase of theirmulti year road improvement project along Columbia Pike

(09:18):
this fall and is going to becompleted or expected to be completed in late

old and unwanted tires for free.Starting today, the County Department of Environmental
Protection is hosting a free scrap tirecollection at the Shady Grove Processing Facility and

(09:41):
Transfer Station in Derwood this week.Only a county residence can bring up to
ten tires. And the annual FiestaDC Parade it took place along Constitution Avenue
yesterday to celebrate and highlight the diversityof Latino culture and heritage. Ecuador was
chosen as this year's Tree of Origin, but all nations exhibited their traditions through

(10:03):
music, floats, dance, andfood. Forecast for today, cloudy skides.
It's gonna be humid with highs ofthe upper sixties and a chance of
me be an isolated shower. Rightnow, it's fifty nine degrees in Montgomery
Village. Here's the news, Thankyou very much. Chilianmar coming up with
Toby in Chili in the morning. It's ninety seven point one WASH FM.
In just a few minutes, we'regoing to talk about the number two trending

(10:28):
story on the planet right now thathappened yesterday. Why because it involves Taylor
Swift and apparently I guess the rumorsare true. She has this new man.
But boy, talk about jumping inbig to this relationship. We'll get
into this coming up in just minuteseight six, six, nine two,
seven forty three sixty one. It'sthe number for you want to jump into

(10:50):
any conversation you hear us having atsix oh four. Here at ninety seven
point one wash FM, Toby andChili in the morning, ninety seven point
one wash FM. Can we talkabout Taylor Swift at six twenty two on
this Monday, September twenty fifth.First of all, let me just preface
this by saying that I love TaylorSwift. I think she is brilliant,
She is self made. I thinkthat she is a tremendous artist. I

(11:15):
think that she's been a big partof it issue. Then this situation with
Travis Kelsey and the way she justsucked the oxygen out of football Sunday yesterday.
She is a little odd. Don'tyou think she upstaged everything and everyone
in the NFL just by being thereto support her. Man, Come on,

(11:37):
she's not allowed to support her man. I'm not saying that she's not
allowed to support her man. I'mjust saying that she is Taylor Swift.
She is the shiniest shiny thing onthe planet. So how else was she?
He showed up to her concert, why can't she reciprocate and come to
one. But there's nothing wrong withher going to the game. It's just
Taylor, you could have been alittle more incognant. Well you know,

(12:01):
I mean you could have been alittle more off the radar. I mean
you you didn't have to go upthere into the box. And then what
did it hurt? They ended upwinning. They ended up winning. They
ended up winning, and he hada touchdown and she's got very excited.
Now do I think this relationship isgoing to go to the distance? Probably
not, because what Travis thought hewas getting into by dating Taylor's right,

(12:24):
and what it will become are twodifferent things. But they're two young,
beautiful people who are trying each otherpeople to be happy. But this is
a situation where this guy has avery important job, and so does she.
By the way, so does she. She's on break right now November,

(12:45):
and clearly clearly there's a fascination here. But I have a feeling Travis
Kelsey's going to start to get annoyedby all of this side show rigamaro.
Oh, well, then you know, have to figure it out, and
I just don't want people to startblaming Taylor of his pleao playing goes sideways.
Well, I don't think that it'sgonna be Taylor's fault, but that's

(13:05):
when everyone's gonna be unless it becomesa distraction. And then if it starts
to become a distraction and it affectsthis game, you know, coach Read's
gonna be like, come here,Travis, good time. Listen. I'm
not going to tell you how tolove or who to love. Really,
can you not bring out of thestadium? And a coach would ever have
that conversation with because if you haveto have it with everyone else about all

(13:28):
their spouses and all their girlfriends, mind your own. That's all I'm gonna
say. Mind your own. I'mjust singing, And if I'm being real
honest about it, it's because I'mbeing selfish. Travis Kelsey is my tight
end one in my fantasy league, and I don't need him distracted by Taylor
Swift's next breakup single. And therewe have the truth, ladies and gentlemen.

(13:50):
So yes, Travis focus, Taylor, help him focus. God speaking
of focus, and tis nearly impossilequestions, Let's play the game. What's
the question? This morning? Onlyabout eight percent of people who who did
this in twenty twenty two say theydid it specifically to save money, So

(14:11):
what is it? Okay, here'sthe question one more time. Only about
eight percent of people who did thisin twenty twenty two say they did it
specifically to save money. What isit? Call eight six, six,
nine two seven forty three sixty oneright now if you want to get in
to see the concert A tribute toABA MGM National Harbor, October first,
Thanks Live Nation, we got ticketsfor you. Right now. You've got

(14:31):
the question. If you know theanswer, call now, play and win.
It's a nearly impossible question. FromMonday ninety seven point one WASHFM on
thank you for waking up with us, Toby and Chile's nearly impossible questions Aline.
In case you missed it, thequestion this morning was only about eight
percent of people who did this intwenty twenty two say they did it specifically

(14:52):
to save money. What was it? And who's going to go see the
concert? The ABBA tribute bands didn'the in Sterling correctly guess that it was
move people move to save money? There get go so moving to save money.
Well, now you're gonna move likea dancing queen with Abba Denise.
Congratulations and if you want to go, we've got more tickets for you Tomorrow

(15:15):

It's ninety seven point one wash FMon Monday, September twenty five,

the hour will get you the newsyou need as you get into this brand
new week coming up to stay withus. Top Stories, Top of the

came to a tentative agreement with entertainmentcompanies last night. Now this news does
not mean that Hollywood's going to goright back to normal. There are still
thousands of actors on strike looking forsimilar changes. The Embassy of Cuba in

(15:58):
DC was the quote target of aterrorist attack when two molotov cocktails were tossed
at the building last night. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. A freight
train derailment in Hyattsville over the weekendhas left a portion of Route one closed.
A number of cars spill their cargoof plastic pellets, so detours are

(16:18):
in place. The Congressional Black CaucusFoundations Legislative Conference saw prominent politicians turn out
for the annual event in the district. Among the concerns before the group was
the US Supreme Court decision on affirmativeAction and how that may affect black owned
businesses. Montgomery County residents will soonhave a chance to get rid of some
old tires during a special collection andrecycling event that's going to be taking place

(16:44):
all this week. You can dropoff tires between seven and five this week
at the Shady Grove Processing Facility andtransfer stations located in Derwood. And According
to a new survey, seventy fivepercent of Americans are leaving Hugh chips when
they're prompted on those tablets or smartcard readers, compared to the old fashioned
way of just dropping a couple ofbucks into a tip jar. Thirty one

(17:07):
percent say they feel pressure or somethingknown as guilt tipping, since this usually
happens when a customers standing right therein front of the worker with the tablet.
Forecast for today, cloudy skies. It's going to be a bit humid.
We do have a slight chance ofan isolated shower. Highs around sixty

(17:30):
m R tib Be app that's me, you found ninety seven point one
wash FM. Till be in Chiliin the morning at seven oh six,
wondering Chilli if you think I shouldbe concerned about something that I've noticed at
home. Let's just say that Ifeel like maybe my privacy is being a
bit violated. Oh yeah, we'llrun this down in a few eight six

(17:52):
six nine two seven forty three sixtyone. If you've got some opinions,
we look forward to hearing them.As still be in Chili in the morning
continues eight six six nine two sevenforty three sixty one is the number.
We're Toby and Chilly in the morning. Ninety seven point one wash FM on
Chili. Do you think I'm overthinkingthis? Yes? Or no? I
noticed some I want to take it. I think that they are kids.

(18:14):
I didn't like go look through thewindowice Sea, but over the last like
I don't know, a couple ofweeks I've noticed like that there's kind of
been an upticking activity outside of awindow where I work from home. I
have like my home studio, it'sright up on a window. And the
thing that got me really thinking aboutthis was the other day I heard,
like, you know, kids called, he's doing it again. He's doing

(18:36):
it again. He's something, They'redoing it again. Look are you recording
this? Do you git her phonereal quick? Shoot some videos. So
I'll be working from home. They'lloverhear me talking because we talk for a
living, yes, you know, and I'll be you know, saying ninety
seven point one wash FM recording thisor whatever for whatever a thousand and then
you know it's now in whomever's defense, they're not knocking on the window,

(19:00):
they're not interrupting there nor flow oflike recording commercials or whatever, but they're
clearly noticing something's up and somebody's doingsomething, and they can hear it home
through the window on the on thelevel where you are you on the floor,
and you know what, Yes,I have like some blackout shades and
stuff that helped me kind of damperthe sound and whatnot. So nonetheless,

(19:22):
that got me a little creeped outthe Okay, So what is it about
these so called kids walking by yourcondo window and observing that you're doing your
thing? Well, bothers you alittle bit. I feel like when when
I heard them say are you recordingthis? Did you? Did you shoot
some video? Something along those lineslike record this? That made me go

(19:44):
because then I kind of put twoand two together. I'm like, oh,
well, if now if they're recordingmy window now that they know that
I'm doing this stuff, are acase in the joint case? Are they
Are they aware that I probably have, like I don't know, some kind
of acquirement phone, you do havea arm system if they did try anything,
I mean, I have cameras, okay, so if anything tried to

(20:06):
get in at that point, though, You're like, it's gonna really mess
up the flow if they come inand take anything or do anything. Yeah.
Are they just being kids? Right? Is that? The other thing
is like they could they could literallyjust being kids overhearing something thinking it's silly
and wanting to record some grown mantalking talking to himself, right, okay,
talking to himself? Okay, canI can understand that. I'll give

(20:26):
you that. But what really kindof made me go. Yeah, And
why I brought it up to youthe other day is because and you saw
the picture I sent around at agroup textos. Then all of a sudden,
there's like some graffiti on the mailbox. Yeah, and I'm like,
when is that a sign? Right? Are they saying? This is by
the place that we're casing. Here'swhat I say the next time they walk

(20:47):
by, I give them something toreally listen to. Okay, Like what,
yes, officer, I do believeI hear somebody outside my window?
Oh? Really, like really loud? Yes, I need you to send
a cruiser over immediately because I'm feelingsafe and there are people casing my joint.
Please. I don't know. It'seither either that or I'm just overthinking
it. I need to calm down, or I need to call my therapist.
I don't know. Eight six sixnine two seven forty three sixty one.

(21:10):
If you've got some thoughts or ifyou want to jump into the conversation,

there's a woman, Chili, whois a true trailblazer. She is a
woman who has stepped into the brewingbusiness. But what makes this woman so

(21:56):
unique? Well, this is wherewe think, where we think things get
very interesting. So Imani Collier isthe owner of the only black woman owned
beer company in the district. Imean she is really expanding the craft beer
business. Yeah, she started UrbanGarden Brewing, right, and of course

(22:17):
it started with her passion for youknow beer, right, I mean,
hey, I mean look exact, you know. And it's it's interesting too
because she's out there as the firstand sometimes when you're out there first doing
something that's never been done before, you can find that you run into some
munique challenges. And what's cool isthat she gets the ingredients or got the

(22:37):
ingredients from her uncle's backyard and DistrictHeights, Maryland, so it's real deal
ingredients. Oh yeah. And bythe way, the recipes inspired by ancient
Egyptian women and their practices. Whybecause they believe beer had powerful properties and
could heal and do more than tobring peace and calm. Right now,
the Urban Garden Brewing is sold atdifferent I Guess breweries in the DC area.

(23:03):
And because it's so good, shewants to open up her own place,
and she's close to signing a leasein Fort Totten, right And by
the way, she's got one hundredand seventy five different backers who have given
her so far twenty four thousand, three hundred and three dollars. Her goal
was twenty thousand at first. NiceAnd by the way, if you want

(23:23):
to join this campaign, this crusadeto help Amani and her first owned,
black owned, woman owned brewery inDC, you can do so. We've
got a link, she's got afundraiser page, and we'll post all of
that for you to find on theToby and Chili page atwashfm dot com.
And if you do so, Shesays, people who make significant donations will
get perks and swag. What doyou think the perks are? Oh,

(23:45):
a nice little flight of craft fiersa beer. That's right. Thank you,
Amani for making our Monday. Imean, what a story. Thank
you for trailblazing. And by theway, if you want to help,

(26:18):
on the planet today. Taylor Swift, ninety seven point one WASHFM. You've
got Toby in Chili in the morning. Eight twenty four. I get this
text from Chili over the week actuallyit was Friday. It's you at the
car a lot and there's your hubsand y'all picked up the family a new
ride. Yeah we did. Myhusband's vehicle was fifteen years old and on
its last leg, and my caris nine years old, so it had

(26:38):
been a minute since we went carshopping. In OMG, it is a
bit overwhelming. What these vehicles cando today. Oh yes, Chili,
there's a lot of technological advancements whichhas been packed into these cars. It's
almost like they've got more computing powerthan your laptop. You are one hundred
percent correct. I felt the sameanxiety I feel when I get a new
cell phone and all these features.I'm like, the learning curve is a

(27:00):
bit much, yea. The partof the issue with me anyway, with
all these safety features and bells andwhistles and beeps and whatnot. We've been
You and I are part of ageneration that's been driving for decades using just
our own two eyes and our ownknowledge. Now the vehicles can override your
human knowledge, can try to correctyou. We're like, no, no,

(27:23):
no, no, no, Imeant to do that. Stop moving
the ste you know, like stopvibrating, Like that's the part that I
need to get used to. Soyou drove the car in to kind of
give it a shakedown cruise this morning. What did you notice and were you
distracted by the technology or tell metell me about the ride end to work
this morning, because this was yourfirst like correct, extend to draw so

(27:45):
some of the tech that's distracting atthe moment for me is like when we
go to change a lane, allthese cameras come up from all the side
views. I'm like, so thatyou can see your blind spot? Well,
I'm okay with just looking over myshoulder, like the good old fashioned
way, right, So I havewe'd have to disable those cameras, and
when then what's the point. Theother thing that's a little bit distracting is
sometimes when there's nobody on the road, I mean nobody, you may change

(28:10):
a lane without giving a signal.Oh no, no no. If you
do that, you're steering wheel wouldtry to correct itself, like you're you're
going over that you know you're goingover that lane? You better not.
Well, you know those things.I think you need to give it a
minute, right because I think Numberone, it's all so new to you.
It's like wearing new shoes. Yougotta break them in a little bit.
But don't poo. But don't poohpoo this tech until you get used

(28:33):
to it, you know what Imean, Because it exists for a reason.
What I would really love. AndI know this is going to sound
crazy, and I may be theonly person who feels this way, Okay,
but I wish they would make anew car, meaning like zero mileage
or whatever, with just basic stufflike power windows and sun ruth. They
do make cars like that, No, with low miles. I'm talking about

(28:56):
not pre owned vehicles. I'm talkingabout a brand new car. I don't
think they do. It's all techor go home. Well, you know,
I'm the only one who wants thiscar. That's why they don't create.
The good news is the Chili. You've still got your other ride if
you want to use the one that'snine years old and has some higher models
on, and you can feel rightat home with your non tech savvy,

(29:18):
non technologically advanced car that does nothave bells and whistles and try to break
for you and change lanes and allof the above. Chili, Welcome to
the Brave New World. Welcome tothe brave New World. I think Huxley
was probably right or not. MoreToby and Chili head over to washfm dot
