Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one Chel Good morning,
It's Toby and Chili in the Morningon ninety seven point one Wash FM.
I'm kiddo'she from Good Morning Washington. You and I did not email each other
about what we're wearing today. Wedid not kind of looked like twinsies.
I know. I said, look, you're wearing your flannel. It is
flannel because it's tis the season fall. Yeah, but also if you can't
(00:24):
hear it, I've got a littlesomething going on in my congestion. I've
got I got my own my son'scold. So to me, flannel equals
cozy and comfort, and that's whyI wore it. Why are you wearing
the flannel? Well, when Igot up at three o'clock this morning,
and it's not the normal time Iget up to come and play with producer
Kayla and Chili, this was whatlooked the most comfortable because I was I
(00:46):
was looking for the comfort route, right, and I also like kind of
him into the fall thing, andI haven't worn any flannel yet. Producer
Kyl and I talked about this.I think it was last week. This
is like our favorite wardrobe time ofyear, would you agree with that?
Like, you love the clothes youhave to wear, Like, do you
know what I mean? Yeah,it's because the colors, the coziness,
(01:07):
the layer. I also feel likeyou can throw a sweater on and it
can kind of go with anything.Sweater and jeans is easy. Sweater and
jeans and boots is easy. Ohlook, and I'm also wearing boots today.
Yeah. I love it. Ilove it. I love it.
Anyway, in the summer, youhave to do you got to match the
shorts with the shirt, and thenthey gotta get the right shoes and gonna
be flip flops and sandals in theright socks, and it's just a lot
more goes in. Though we're gonnaget really hot later because I think it's
(01:30):
gonna be seventy two. It's gonnabe overcast, so it's not gonna be
sunny. But yeah, so yeah, we're very cozy, cozy start to
our day. All next week it'sgoing to be in the eighties and you're
gonna be saying, get rid ofthe flannels. That's okay, but at
least I got it in for thismorning. Yeah. I actually it's funny.
You say that because as I wasdriving to work, I was like,
oh, maybe I'll make a potroast tonight. So like I'm just
getting in the full fall morn. All right, We're glad you're here with
(01:53):
this on this Friday morning. Tobyis off today, so I'm hanging out
with Chili and produce Kayla coming upnext. Do you get into trouble when
you fall asleep at night on thecouch with your partner when you're watching TV
or a movie and they're like, hey, I thought you were were going
to watch this together. Happened tome last night. But I think I'd
get a pass for this. Ithink I should get a pass. I'll
tell you what happened and why Ifell asleep on the couch. Next,
(02:15):
it said Cheron on ninety seven pointone Wash FM Toby and Chilly in the
Morning. I'm kido'sha from Good MorningWashington, And so what is it you
were falling asleep on the couch doing? Well? What do you mean?
I want to know why our partnersget so mad at us when we fall
asleep on the couch at night whenwe're just having family time, Like,
isn't that where you should be ableto fall asleep at night. Well,
wait, what were you supposed tobe doing? So last night I just
(02:36):
got back from a work trip forGood Morning Washington. I was gone for
seven days overseas. Got back andmy partner all he wanted to do is
watch the Packers game together last night, Thursday night football Packers Lions. It
was our first night together. Heis a huge Packers fan. I'm a
huge Packers fan. So game didn'tstart till eight. I was on the
couch at six thirty, barely keepingmy eyes open. At seven, I
(03:00):
went and got the comforter and thepillows from the bedroom and like set up
a nice comfortable bed on the couch, dealing with some jet lag, and
just like I just want you hadto wake up early for this today and
had to wake up early for this, and so we were watching the pregame
stuff. I think I started tofall asleep in the pregame coverage. I
didn't even make it to game time. And he comes over and looks.
(03:21):
He's like, why are you fallingasleep? I said, you're supposed to
be awake with me. I said, Kyle, I am going to fall
asleep, so stop checking on me. I will watch as much of the
game as I can, but yeah, I'm exhausted, like my body thinks
it's a different time. When hedoes see you asleep, does he nudge
you, because that would drive meabsolutely crazy if they put a hand on
(03:42):
me to try to wake me up. So if we were if we were
watching a movie, maybe he wouldbe like, wake up. But last
night, because I set the boundariesand said do not wake me, he
was fine. But at one pointI would like I would come in and
out of like sleep with like oneeye open. And it was a terrible
game anyway, by the way,the Packers lost. Okay, So how
much did you make where you feeloh, I mean first quarter? Maybe
the first quarter with one eye Andthen when you wake up and you know
(04:06):
you're on the couch right and you'rewatching with your partner, do you then
move to the bed at some pointbecause I can't be staying on that couch.
So it's funny because he woke meup at eleven when the game was
over whatever time it was, Ohgod, and I think he was like
keeping me on the couch. Ithink he brought me another pillow or something.
I'm like, I'm not staying uphere all night. I was only
(04:26):
out here for you. I wasjust that's why. That's why you get
credit, because you sacrificed comfort fora bit there. Yes, I can't
get in trouble for all right,As you're getting going with us here on
this Friday morning, we're glad you'rehere and we've got more coming up,
including the morning mindsets. That's whenproducer Kayla shares a quote to get us
into a good headspace. Great ninety'sthrowback from Donna Lewis Son ninety seven point
(04:47):
one wash FM. Then we areToby and Chile in the morning. I'm
kid O'Shea in for Toby. Timeto bring in producer Kayla. This is
our morning mindset. She finds thequote on the internet and she shares it
with the rest of us to getus into a good positive headspace, especially
as we start the weekend. Yeah, it says, maybe the path that
scares you the most is the oneyou need to take. If a path
(05:11):
came in mind for you and you'rethinking about why you can't go on that
path, think about why that obstacleis there in the first place, and
maybe overcoming it will make you abetter person or get you closer to the
goal you really want. So insteadof being scared of that path, I
want you to embrace the most challengingpath today. I know it's Friday and
that's the last thing you want todo, but I feel like you'll be
(05:31):
better for it. But I willread the quote one more time. It
says maybe the path that scares youthe most is the one you need to
take. And you could find thatquote or I could share your own using
hashtag morning Mindset on the Toby aChilly page atwashfm dot com. Like in
this region, we take the paththat has the less less traffic. Yeah,
(05:55):
I get there as quickly as Ipossibly can. That's the path I
want to be on. All right, Thanks Kayla, come next show biz

California authorities. No police ended upgoing to her house to do a wellness
check. They said she showed nosigns of being in danger, so they
ended up leaving and people are stillworried that there's something going on with her.
Taylor Swift has inspired a new condiment, folks, that's right, thanks
to Heine's ketchup. So. Idon't know if you saw this, but
(06:59):
during the The City Chiefs game,a fan took a photo of Taylor eating
chicken strips with ketchup and seemingly ranchOkay, that's what they referred to.
It looked to be ranch shrecked. After that photo went viral, Heinz an

to work without compensation. A juryyesterday found a delivery driver not guilty in

the shooting of a YouTube prankster whohad followed him around the food court at
Dallas Town Center Mall. Earlier thisyear, thirty one year old Alan Cawley
was acquitted of aggravated malicious wounding inthe shooting of twenty one year old Tanner

school district officials yesterday and a hearingover the promotion of a school official who's
been accused of harassment and bullying. The superintendent testified that she knew nothing about
an internal investigation into a Joel Beetleman. Complaints about rats to DC's three one

using garbage disposals to get rid offood scraps, producing less waste, and
also securing garbage cans. And JetBlue announced a guarantee that's going to be
pleasing a lot of parents who've gotyoung kids. The airline now has a

their parents at no extra cost.Forecast for today cloudy with some drizzle this
(10:07):
morning, turning into an overcast day. Highs around seventy two. Right now,
it's fifty degrees in Saint Leonard. All right, Chili, I'm kido'shay
in for Toby. Chili's concerned witha possible new trend that could be coming
to your child's soccer games. It'salready happening in one place in our country.
We'll tell you about it. Comingup next. Music from today from
(10:28):
Ed Sheer and that's Eyes Closed withToby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety
seven point one WASHFM. I'm kido'shayin for Toby. There could be a
new rule for spectators and coaches comingto our soccer fields soon, and Chili's
not having it. No, thisalready exists. There's a soccer club in
Montana. They call it Silent Soccer. They have silent games, okay on
(10:50):
Saturdays. This means no talking, yelling, or having a conversation on the
sidelines of the game. As aparent, it means the coaches can't really
give direction to the team except forsubbing a player. There is no direct
conversation with referees other than thanking themafter the game, and you're not allowed
to cheer for any player or teamuntil everything is over. This is what
(11:13):
it's come to now because of afew rotten apples who are obnoxious, who
forced a lot of these coaches toquit or referees to not referee because parents
don't know their place. We shouldpoint out that Chili is a soccer model.
She's very passionate about this topic. If you have not noticed, and
did you say you're not allowed toeven talk to other parents on the sidelines
(11:35):
that have little conversations. I mean, you might whisper it and try to
get away with it, but theyjust don't want they don't they want it
to be quiet. So these kidsare out there, they're trying their best.
Imagine, like, can you justimagine what that's even? Like?
I don't even know if the kidswould like this. There's something to be
said about hearing mom and dad sayingway to go Donato, you know,
nice hustle or whatever, like Isay to my kid, and I get
(11:58):
that this is an issue. Somy whole thing has been eject those parents.
Then the ones who are obnoxious, the ones who are attacking raps and
attacking coaches tell their kids they can'tplay. Yeah, so what kind of
cheer? Mom? Are you atthe game? Do you cheer just for
Donato? Do you'd cheer for thewhole team? Are you loud? Are
you the like? I definitely cheerfor any good play, doesn't matter which
(12:20):
side. And as a matter offact, my son overheard me cheering for
opposing team member who made a greatgoal. He goes, Mom, that
guy's not he wasn't even on ourteam. Like after the game, I
said, Buddy, I cheer agood play regardless of who made that.
Well, that's cool, and becauseI want him to understand that, you
know, this is supposed to befun and by the way, you're rewarded
(12:43):
with positive reinforcement and whatnot. Butnow, let's say tomorrow Denato Soccer Club
decides we're going to silent soccer Chili, how do you feel about this?
I would get very good with handgestures. You'd still show off. I
would still do something to let thatteam know very they're doing a good job,
or that they need to hustle withthose confetti cannons. I would have
(13:05):
some way of communicating that. Well, we'll see if it makes its way
here to the DC region. Thanksfor sharing that with us, Chili,
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible question.Seventy one percent of Americans say they do
this little thing or doing this littlething can make you more productive. What
do you think it is? Allright? We're playing for a pair of

What do you think the answer isto the question? Well, I think
we could all use a little moreasleep. Oh, we sure can,
especially by the end of the week. Yeah, and it would make us
more productive. You're right about that. Unfortunately, though, Hildy, that
(14:31):
is not the answer we're looking fortoday. I'm so sorry. Try again
Monday. Okay, Well, thankyou so much, good talking to you.
Yeah, thanks, Hildy. Let'sgo to Scott in Damascus. Good
morning, what do you think? The answer is, good morning, I'm
going to do this. Is thatsomething you do to try to be more
productive? Scott, Not at all, but I see my wife do it
(14:54):
all the time. She's the smartone in the family. She knows and
if she doesn't write it, doubtit's not going to get done. That's
right. That is an excellent guest, is also our correct answer this morning.
Congratulations, wonderful congratulations. Yeah, you and the wife now can go
to see the concert a Tribute toAbba at MGM National Harbor on October first,
(15:16):
thanks to Live Nation. Tell herto put that on her to do
list the top. Thank you, excellent, Thank you Scott, and make
sure that you're back here Monday morningfor another nearly impossible question. We're going
to be playing for tickets to gosee Lauren Dagle CFG Bank Arena October twenty

Senate is forging ahead with a stopgapfunding bill before the government shuts down tomorrow
night. So to avoid a shutdown, the Senate yesterday voted to open debate
on a stop gap bill that wouldextend federal spending until November seventeen. The
(15:58):
bill has yet to get past theHouse Republicans who are demanding deeper cuts and
spending Becomber County Public Schools are goingto settle lawsuits that allege hazing involving sexual
assault. Those suits were brought onby four former Damascus High School football players.
Three reported being assaulted by senior teammateswith broomsticks back in twenty eighteen,

while another player reported a similar attackthe year before. MCPS will pay nearly
ten million dollars to settle those lawsuits. Commuters and users of Metro they've got
till tomorrow to fill out a surveyregarding what could improve services on the Blue,
Orange and Silver lines. So arecent consideration is turning the Blue Line

into a loop and extending its serviceto National Harbor. Arlington Central Library has
decided to shut down a food pantryon its premises effective today. The library
cited it couldn't maintain or watch overthe pantry to make sure that public health
regulations were being followed. Volunteers sayabout one hundred and fifty residents access that
pantry on a regular basis, andaccording to a recent survey, mental health

no longer has this stigma it oncehad. In fact, ninety two percent
of Americans preferred dating someone who's beento therapy, and half found that bringing
up therapy on the first date isattractive. Forecast for today cloudy with some
drizzle this morning. Otherwise it's goingto be overcast. Highs around seventy two
right now, sixty degrees in Bethesda. All right, Chili, thanks a
(17:30):
lot. I'm Kiddo'shay in for Toby. Coming up next. How many things
have to go wrong in your daybefore you lose it? A psychologist is
sharing a rule he says could helpkeep you calm throughout the day. If
you do this, we think it'sflawed. We'll tell you about it.
Coming up next Friday morning in DCninety seven point one Wash FM little justin
(17:52):
Timberlake, and it's Kido'shay with Tobyand Chili in the morning. Have you
heard about the rule of twelve. There's a popular psychology that says if you
follow this rule, it could helpkeep you calm. Chilly, tell us
about it? All right? Thisguy named doctor Daniel Aman says that he
practices the rule of twelve, wherehe remains calm when twelve things go wrong
(18:14):
during an event, like when you'removing or going up vacation, and he
only explodes when the thirteenth thing happensbecause he's saying it's it's the more you
practice, like withholding that natural instinctto scream or yell, the mentally stronger
you become. Now, I don'tknow how you all are in this room,
(18:40):
but one little thing goes wrong itmakes me feel some sort of way.
Producer, Kayla, what do youthink about this rule? It to
my patience is so thin. Ican't wait till twelve. I honestly can't.
And the only way for this towork is to keep track of all
the things that triggers you throughout theday or the week or whatever. So
when I add that thirteenth one,I'm going to see everything else that triggered
(19:02):
me previously that I may have forgottenabout. It's gonna free triggered me all
over a gang o. Yeah, what do you think? Kid? Like,
I'm kind of that person that maybesometimes reacts without thinking. So what
I practice in my life after therapyis like take a moment, step back.
Okay, you know reevaluate before youlose it, So but twelve by
(19:26):
if I kept twelve things bottled uplike that, there's no way. I
mean, I get what he's saying, but it would be impossible for me
to wait for twelve things. Idon't feel better until somebody knows that I'm
upset or something, so I haveto get it out. Do exactly.
I'll give you three maybe, butthat's it. But if you want to
(19:47):
read more about the rule of twelveand how to stay calm when everything goes
sideways, we do have the articleup for you on the Toby and Chili
page atwashfm dot com. Good luckwith that, all right. Today is
National CA Coffee Day and we havea new coffee drinker here on the show.
Producer Kayla is concerned if she startsdrinking coffee at this point in her
(20:07):
life, this could happen to her. Oh, we'll talk to her about
that on National Coffee Day and seeif she's okay to continue drinking coffee.
Yeah, coming up next year.Tell me and Chilly in the morning that
he's seven point one wash FMCA unstoppable. We are glad you're here on a
Friday morning. I'm Kido'sha from GoodMorning Washington. It is National Coffee Day
and we have a concerned coffee drinkeron the show. Let's bring in producer
(20:29):
Kayla Well. We should also pointout she's a new coffee drinker. Can
you believe she hasn't been having coffeedoing this shift all these years? No,
damn. I finally get the hype. For the last couple of months,
I've been coming in a little sluggishand I would reach for a cup
of coffee and I get it.I would be perkier, I would be
more alert, obviously, more awake. It was amazing, and I thought
(20:52):
to myself, you know what, why don't I just become a coffee drinker
and do this every day? Whycan't I feel this great every single day?
And that's when the worry kind ofset over me. I'm one.
I'm worried that I'm going to getaddicted to coffee to the point where it's
like, don't talk to me,UNTI let how my coffee, or I
can't function without my cup of brew. I'm worried about the cost. That
(21:14):
is an extra cost. I havea cup of coffee every day, especially
on the weekends when we're not atwork, I'm worried about the extra calories
because I can't have it black there. Yeah, and then if I have
coffee every single day, I amworried that I won't be as perky because
I have developed a higher tolerance.Well, I've been a coffee drinker for
(21:41):
decades and you same kid. Idon't think you have to worry about the
addiction portion of it, because it'sthe caffeine that you might really enjoy.
So you could get that other ways. You can get that from tea,
you could get that from soda somethinglike that, So I wouldn't worry about
that. I mean, if you'rehaving a couple of cups a day,
(22:02):
it's not like how much do youare you planning to go all in on
this? I just exactly. Ijust have friends where they're air addiction.
They're so in a coffee where they'relike, give me that triple nitro,
where it's like I don't want tobe that far into it. So that
goes into the building a tolerance forthe caffeine. I do think that is
(22:23):
a reality for a lot of people. There used to be a time I
could never nap after a cup ofcoffee. Yeah, oh, now I
can do it after two, soclearly my body has adjusted to the caffeine.
What about you, I was goingto say the same thing. I've
had two cups of coffee this morning. I've been up since three. Come
in early with you, guys,Like I could go to bed right now.
I could sleep right here on thisfloor and I would go right back
to back. But I'll also tellyou I do not drink coffee for I've
(22:47):
like. I like coffee because Ilike the tradition of making a cup of
coffee in the morning and the smellof it. It's relaxing to me to
have a cup of coffee, andon top of it, there is the
caffeine benefit to it. But I'mnever like, oh wow, now I
can finally function. Do you eversay to anybody, don't talk to me
(23:07):
until I've had my coffee. No, I don't have one of those T
shirts or something that people wear aroundlike you mean, like I do.
Oh, I do. I haveone that says coffee more coffee. If
I'll wear it to like Target orwhatever, and people are like, oh,
I know what you mean. Despitethe T shirt, I honestly think
you guys are the two healthiest examplesof coffee drinkers. So maybe I could
embrace the trend and let me saythis. If we see you going down
a dark trail with coffee, thatwe are concerned about your coffee addiction,
(23:34):
trust us. We will help you. We will stage an intervention. Right,
it will get you through it.Okay, God, Kayla, all
right. Chili's got Top stories comingup next. Weather today, drizzle,
overcast, high round seventy two. It's Toby and Chili in the mornings.
Top Stories, Top of the Hour. The government is set to shut down

And according to a recent survey ofparents with school age kids, the top
(25:04):
parenting wins are when kids take careof their hygiene, get dressed on time
for school, and also eat theirfruits and veggies. Parents have an average
of three wins a week, butthey've got even more cave ins that's where
they give in to their kids. That's an average of four a week.
Forecast for today, cloudy skies withsome drizzle this morning. Otherwise it's going
(25:26):
to be an overcast day. Highsaround seventy two right now fifty nine degrees
in Herndon. All right, Chili, thanks for getting us up to date
on top stories. I'm Kido'shay infor Toby Coming up next? Have I
gone too far in an attempt towin a local award? Oh? I
will not lose this competition, Okay, oh my, and I need your
help. I'll tell you about it. Coming up next, one of Today's
(25:48):
biggest songs from Taylor Swift on ninetyseven point one wash FM Friday Morning in
DC. I'm Kido'shay along with Tobyand Chili in the Morning and producer Kayla.
All Right, Have I gone toofar in an attempt to win a
local award? I don't know ifyou know this. I'm nominated once again
this year for Best Local Radio TVPersonality for the Washington Blades Best of LGBTQ
DC who he said, once again? So how many times do you have
(26:11):
been nominated? Well, I've beenhere for eight years and I've been nominated
every single year. Have you won? I've lost every single I came up
as I was a runner up oneyear and that's it. Okay, Okay,
So this is I think I shouldtell you that whenever magazines do like
a best of situation, most ofthe time, kid the winners did it
(26:33):
by like soliciting somehow. So Ithink it's totally fine for you to come
on the show right now and say, hey, go to the website.
We'll even put up a leg.Sure, well, we can vote for
you once a day and make surethat you finally get the plaque that you
deserve. There's nothing wrong with that. Well, and I appreciate you letting
me use this amazing platform your show, but this is not what I'm I'm
thinking of taking even one step further. Oh, Like I am looking to
(26:56):
bribe people for votes at this point, enough is enough. I've got to
win this award? Does that mean? So? I've always kind of taken
the you know, idea of like, look, if I'm deserving of it,
the votes will come in naturally.I shouldn't have to ask people to
vote for right, But this year, I'm thinking about possibly this weekend,
(27:17):
going out and buying people shots ifthey agree to vote for me. So,
I so what, So what doesthat look like? I'm gonna pay
for votes? Is what I'm prettymuch saying here. So you're gonna walk
up to some random people at barssaying, hey, you know who I
am? I'm kid, I've beennominated. Do you know who I am?
I will buy you a shot.If if you go online right now
(27:37):
and vote, I want to seeyou do it. I want to see
bush my name, submit submits andyou get a shot, and you get
a shot, I mean, hey, why not? I mean, what
have they got to lose? Nothing? No, And I'm gonna go to
my favorite establishments, some of themthat are also nominated. So I'm gonna
have different locations throughout this see thiswhole campaign. I'll be a different locations
(28:00):
throughout the weekend. If there's norule in the Blade that says you can't
buy votes, this isn't illegal,This is not illegal. If this is
still okay, then you go forit. I have a question for producer
Kayla, because you're the only onethat still goes out and would possibly do
shots any more at this point inyour life. Yeah, I haven't done
shots in a very long time. How much is your average shot? What
are we talking about? It dependsif we're talking about bottom shelf, maybe
(28:22):
twelve dollars. Now, if you'retrying to really get my vote and get
top shelf, oh, you're talkingabout twenty five dollars a pot. Oh
you'll you'll win the You'll win theaward. And you'll also be the poorest
LGBTQ member of the DC area.I'm gonna need to reconsider this buying shots
and buying votes more Toby and Jillyhead over to washfm dot com or the
