Toby and Chill Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one. How is your
weekend? This weekend? Good?Just nursing a cold. Other than that,
yeah, well, you know,if you're stick, say six day
home, that's what they say,Chili in the morning. I feel good
good. I just have you heara little congestion. It happens. Yeah,
it is what it is. Itseems to be, it's not.

(00:23):
It's well, you know, hey, now there's a lot of stuff going
around right about now. I'm justsaying, how is how is your a
weekend? Well? I got ina lot of reps and steps and I
did some purging. So I wasback and forth to the trash and back
and forth to Salvation Army, backand forth to what's it called good Will.

(00:44):
I just wanted to say that ifthere's anybody looking for some really good
stuff, go to the Goodwill orthe Salvation Army in Montgomery County because I
donated a ton. Do you knowwhat you say that? Donna and I,
my husband and I always like whenwe donate things that are obviously ours,
like logo things, We're like, what would we do if we were

(01:04):
out and about and we saw somebodywearing something we donated. Would we walk
up and say, hey, areyou enjoying that shirt? Because I know
for a fact that's my shirt becauseit's the logo of whatever, you know
what I'm trying to say. I'veseen plenty of those things at the Good
Wills before. Yeah, but haveyou seen anybody wearing them? Like you

(01:26):
know radio station swag that we giveaway in different places, but not from
here because we don't have T shirtsaround ninety seven point one. Wash up
them. We're Toby in Chili inthe morning. But I have seen other
station stuff. I even saw likean autograph Chris Cooley Jersey at a dang
Yeah, I know, like ata thrift shop. But that's not one

(01:47):
you gave. Oh no, no, no, no no. I wouldn't
give away anything autograph that I tryto sell that on eBay, even if
I got five dollars out of thedeal, right, No. But I
always I always hope to come acrosssomebody that is wearing something that I had
donated. You know what, There'sgonna be a lot of people coming across
a lot of stuff that I'd donatedover the weekend in their mayor. Man,

(02:07):
I'd be some stations, swag inthere so and movie swag and some
other incidental swag. Oh I gotrid of so much stuff it's not even
funny. And I reclaimed most ofthe living room just in time to put
up Christmas trees. Yeah. Ninetyseven point one WASHFM. Welcome to Monday,
October two DC. Good morning.Well, here's what's buzzing this morning.

(02:30):
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. We're till be in Chile in
the morning. About a third ofAmericans say two to three children make for
the ideal family size, only athird. Interesting, I think that two
to three. Yeah, about athird of Americans say two to three children
would make for the ideal family size. Well. I also see that younger

(02:52):
respondents were more likely saying three ormore kids is the idea. Well,
because you're younger, you have moretime to have children biologically, if that's
your thing. Right, And atthe same point in time, this research
they did shows, and this isinteresting, millennials and people in Gen Z
ten percent of them say they don'twant kids. Interesting, oh, ten

(03:16):
percent. That's going to change, right, because as they get older and
they get more established, I thinkthat their mind will probably focus more on.
Okay, So now what you know, you and I only have one,
okay, and in my significant otherand I've talked about a second child
should things go a certain way forher and I, and well, it

(03:37):
would be her first. It wouldbe her first, would be second.
And I worry that the space betweenmy daughter Kyla and the new baby,
if there were hypothetically one, thatthat would be too vast, you know,
like we're looking, say a newbaby were to be born this year,
there'd be like a nineteen twenty yeardifference. Well then, but I
mean that's you starting over as adad, right, it's she's I mean,

(03:58):
yeah, it's like having an onlychild again in theory. So what
would that make my ideal family sizenumber B that's a question. Yeah,
one point five asterisk I mean,I mean yeah, I mean we we
before we got married, we're like, look, if we have some great
if not, we'll figure it out, you know whatever. But after having

(04:20):
one, we are so done.Like it's a lot you were older.
I just for us, we areexactly what we need to be, you
know, which I'm really grateful forthat. It is absolutely tough. You
are not kidding, I mean, and your child's ten, Wait till there's
going to be ten? Yeah.Yeah, I mean you never stopped being
a parent, which is the yeah, which is the thing that does take

(04:41):
a toll on you. Hopefully, whatever your family size is, you feel
like it is perfect. Yeah, perfect for you and your family situation,
whatever that might be. Need somepositivity. Producer Kyless Morning Mindset a little

good headspace on a new week.Yeah. It says, remember that failure
is an event, not a person. I really love this analogy because it's
not a person you know following aroundor a person you have to keep up

(05:27):
with. Once that moment of failurehappens, you learn from it and you
move on. You never have torevisit that person again. A very low
commitment relationship if you ask me,but I will read the quote one more
time. It says remember that failureis an event, not a person.
And you can find that quote orwe could share your own using hashtag morning

you've come to a very shocking realization. I think many people in this

have zero vacation days left, nothingwhen the holiday I haven't even started.
I don't remember you taking a vacationyet. Thank you. I'm glad you
brought that up. I haven't takena vacation. All of my days went
to other people in my lives. In April, we took a whole week
off to go visit family in Georgia, which really wasn't a vacation. And

(11:15):
then my mom had a lot ofmedical appointments, nothing serious, but it
required someone to drive her and pickher up. So I've been taking a
lot of days off for that. And then Chloe got cancer. Yes,
Chloe, my dog got cancer. So I took days off our appointments and
her recovery. And funny enough,I was making I was putting in our
system that I needed to take thisupcoming Wednesday off because my mom has another

doctor's appointment, and the system said, you have a zero balance in your
life. Realize how much you've givenup for their well being and for by

(12:03):
that they're taking so much of it. Yeah, I told her. She
was like, you know, well, what are we supposed to do anything?
She didn't feel guilty. I guess, of course I know. And
if there's anything consistent about the PTOgame, it's it's that it's anything but
consistent. Where you go from workplaceto workplace exactly, you know your mom
may be cognizant, may not evenbe cognizant of the fact that you've blown

(12:26):

Well, apparently if you have, you need to know that it might

not be the best way for youto be communicating with people. Why,
well, we'll unpack what text bombingis and more coming up in a few
Stay with us. Let's talk abouttext bombing seven twenty four, ninety seven

involved at eight six six nine twoseven forty three six two one to reach
us here at ninety seven point oneWASHFM. Apparently, text bombing is jumped

(17:32):
in popularity as a way to addressdrama and issues with friendships. I guess
it's The definition is pouring one's feelingsand concerns into a single, extensive,
meandering, long message might seem convenient, but it can be damaging. According
to some people who studied this,no kidding, it is the most passive

(17:52):
aggressive thing you can do by sendingsomebody paragraphs of your feelings without that person
getting a chance to respond in themoment. Now, I will ask this
room how many people are guilty ofeither receiving or sending a text bomb.
Toby guilty is charged on both counts. Both. Okay, I have not

(18:14):
I have not done either. Ihave not received nor sent a text bomb.
A producer Kayla, I have notreceived. But I love sending this.
I don't like text bomb. That'sso dramatic, but I am.
I have done it. I findit. I just cannot handle my emotions
in the moment. So I findthat it's a good way to organize my
thoughts so I can allow them toprocess what I just said, and then

(18:36):
we can have a one on oneconversation. So let me ask you this
question. You send me this meandering, long, four or five paragraph text
bomb, do you really think thatit's going to get read? Yeah?
Yeah, really at your own leisure, honestly, which I think is beneficial.
Yeah, but you're catching them offguard, and so Let's say that
person was going about their day, about to enter some meeting or going through

(18:59):
something in their life, and thenboom, they received this out of nowhere
feelings email from you or text fromyou, like, oh great, now
I'm gonna be You know, conflictis never convenient. And I find if
I did emotional bombing in person, which once again very dramatic, I find
that the initial response is that peopleget defensive, so it's not a productive
conversation. But I find by readingthe words, you're able to process it

(19:22):
so we can have an in personconversation. Well, I mean, look,
if it works for you, I'mnot gonna tell you to change what
you're doing, but I gotta behonest. If I'm being straight up,
you throw me one of these textbombs, there's a maybe a sixty forty
fifty fifty percent chance that it'll actuallyget read with the marriage it deserves,

(19:44):
you'll get a text critic. Thisis why you need to know everyone's conflict
style, how they like to handleconflicts. Well, I would just go
on record, don't text bomb me. There, you go, pick up
the pick up the phone. Let'shave an actual conversation. If you're gonna
come at me with some stuff. You know what I mean, bom me
anytime. Hate that world. Sohere's what we've learned. Text bomb producer
Kayla. Come directly at Chili andI with your issues and concerns, and

(20:06):
if you feel like you need to, maybe put it in an email and
maybe it'll get readil who knew textbombing, it's a thing. And if
you want to know more about itbecause you feel like maybe you're the victim
of these text bombs, get tothe Toby and Chili PAGETWASHFM dot com coming

was diagnosed at just eight years oldwith Tourette's and he said that his ticks
were so bad that he didn't seehimself ever going to college or having a
future and he actually ended up hospitalizedeighty times because of that is insane.
Listen to this. One is doingthis. So I'm contracting my ribs and
sucking and sucking in my abs atthe same time. Can you imagine that?

(21:15):
And that's why he had to turnto sports to help him deal with
it. And in sports he foundways to overcome. He found ways to
take out his anger in a veryproductive way, because, well, when
your body is acting out of controlling, you really have Yeah, you can't
do anything about what's happening, andthere's nothing you can do about it.
It does make you angry. Andso he turned to boxing. And he
didn't just turn to boxing, Heturned to boxing in a big way.

(21:37):
Yeah, it was just four yearsago that he discovered his passion for boxing
and he ended up. Now he'sa senior at GW and the co captain
of their boxing class. Right,he's over at GW studying sports management.
Why does he persevere? What isit that helps him to keep going?
Every day. Well, here's whathe had to say about that. I

believe that I have to be thevoice for those who can A lot of
people are going through things every day. I want people to know that they're

Toby and Chili in the morning. If you've ever had experience with someone who
is a project manager, I'm tellingyou right now dating a project manager is
one of the greatest things when itcomes to getting something that needs to be
done done. Why I'll explain howdoes this apply to potty train It'll make

(25:00):
sense coming up if you want toget something done data project manager, Toby
and Chili in the Morning, It'sninety seven point one wash FM. Especially
when it comes to potty training,A puppy there, Chili amar As you
know, Nova Luna is our puppy. She's just over four months old.
I thought that potty training her wouldbe easy. It was easy when my

(25:22):
daughter was home from college and kindof handling the business. And then she
went back to school and that's whenthe wheels came off the potty training.
And you said you were thinking aboutsending Nova to one of these like doggie
boot camp training things where you sendthem away for a week and then they
come back fully trained. And thenwhat happened like one to two weeks,
and well, a couple of thingshappened. Number one, the cost is

(25:44):
just up there. I mean,it's really not something that I really can
afford to drop the money on rightnow. So that's number one. Number
two, my significant other comes overand she had reached a point, I
think where she had just had it, where the dog was making messes in
the kitchen and having accidents, andI was being inconsistent about when to take
right. I was doing all ofthese things just incorrectly, like I wasn't

(26:07):
paying attention to you know, ifyou feed the puppy, the puppy probably
needs to go out within fifteen totwenty maybe thirty minutes at the max afterwards,
to take care of one's business.I wasn't thinking about that stuff.
And well, let's just say shesnatched up the dog, took the dog
for a couple of days of veryintensive training, brought her back because she
had to go on a work trip, and then left me with a very
detailed list of what to do andwhat not to do with this dog.

(26:32):
So you had to be very consistent. Oh yes, since she brought the
dog back to home. Yes,Like I live in a world of every
two hours. Like right now,I'm thinking to myself, Okay, I've
got to get right home after theshow because I can't dilly dally because the
puppy has to go out. Knowingyou though, it's tough to be that
regimented, how is it going?I mean, have you been sticking to

(26:52):
it? Yes? Oh okay, because you know what, it's been easy
because you don't want to deal withthe wrath of your girlfriend that or I
don't want to keep having to mockthe kitchen floor, having to go,
you know, the apartment and pickingup stuff. And are you noticing a
difference. Yes, I will saythat I am noticing that the consistency and
staying on the regimen and staying onschedule and on point has been very effective,

(27:18):
and she is getting better and better. That's not to say there haven't
been little mistakes in there, butshe is a puppy. This is what
every dog owner at some point comesto realize. Sure, you can only
be as effective as you the humanare. You must be consistent, otherwise
it will undo all of the training. I had no idea that there were
so many little details. Our previouspuppy God rest is Soul, clever Maxwells

(27:45):
did not seem to be this difficultto train. But again, I guess
I'm working a completely different schedule thoughI'm up in the middle of the night
as opposed to going into work atnoon. Now, if your girlfriend could
only train you to be on timeto things, that would be quite the
miracle. On that note, we'regonna push this button on more Toby and
