Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio. This is me watching the end of the

(00:26):
Bears Packers game.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm sitting in my hotel room and the Bears are
coming out for game winning field goal, and the kick
is up and the kick is blocked and the Packers win. Click.
I just turned it off. It's sick. It's sick. It's
like Hannibal Lecter's doctor Doctor Chilton. He's like his post
never got above eighty five, even when he ate her tongue.
It's disgusting. It's like they're turning any of us with
any emotional connection this team into socio paths. We don't feel.

(00:50):
But you know what you do if you're a Bears fan,
you do pay attention and you do remember. And I
want to take a little look back. Let's look back
to the Hail Mary game, to the Washington game, but
not the Hail Mary. You've seen a thousand times. This
is played before the Hail Mary. They don't win the
game if they don't make that play. There is no
Ohil Mary. It was a perfectly precise play by the Commanders,
by Jayden and Daniels. No time out for the barriers

(01:10):
notes to get together. Whatsoever. The Commander's defender said, we
expected them to play it differently. Remember that word expected.
Here's the game yesterday. It's Caleb's last pass to Keenan
Allen and then the last offensive play they would run
to Rashaan Johnson, Who's gotta keep this live. There's thirty
seconds left, they have a time out, twenty six, twenty five,
twenty four. You're about to beat the Packers. Snap the neck,

(01:30):
run another play. Eberfu says, we talk good. It didn't
end well. Beaver Flu says, well, they were stacking the line.
So pass. Caleb has never had more confidence his entire career,
has got a hot hand. You have to finish them.
You can't just sit here and say, well, it's a
forty six yard let's trot out Cairo. What could go
wrong when you just find out? What do they say?
Mess around and find out? They messed around, They found out.

(01:53):
You know how this thing ends. Remember I mentioned that word,
how the Commanders expected the Bearers to play differently? Meanders offense.
Look at this tweet from ESPN after this game yesterday.
Just talk to several players in the packast field goal block.
You know, all of them said they noticed kyro Sethus
kick with the low trajectory when doing film study, and
they expected the Bears to run another play, which, in

(02:15):
their opinion, would have made it more difficult to block. Sure, yeah,
they expected to do differently, just like the commanders expected
you do differently. But you know what the Bears fans expected.
They expected this letdown, and they expected this from their sideline.
There is just this palpable feeling of distrust, of feeling unsafe,
of needing someone who can make strong, smart, brave decisions

(02:37):
in huge moments. The best coaches around the league, they
usually have one or two vibes. They're either the tough
guy or the smart guy, and it feels like the
Bears have neither. I don't say if I are this man.
It's not my vibe, it's not my lane, it's not
what I do. But you know what it feels like
the Bears have right now. Do you know who Corporal
Upham is? I bet you do. Corporal Upham is a

(02:58):
very nice man. He's kind, he's empathetic, He tries hard
to fit in, he tries to contribute to the team.
You know, he's trying to help the team dynamic, but
then things get really intense, really intense, and you have
to make a really tough decision. That's scary, and oh
I'd rather not I rather sit this one out. It's
not a time for empathy. It's not a time for kindness.

(03:19):
It's not a time to be funny. It's not a
time to be nice. It's time to make a brave
decision in a tough moment. And corpor Upham is in
the stairwell crime. The Bears had the team to beat
the Packers yesterday. The Bears had the quarterback to beat
the Packers. The Bears do not have the guts to
beat the Packers yesterday, and that's why they lost again,
and they'll continue to lose again until they change it.

(03:40):
The guts, the bravery, the courage, and they had none
of it. And I think they mismagined the end of
the game. And it's a damn sham. If I was
a Steelers, I would love the Ravens because you always
beat them. We do the whole long video package and
the great the history and that's all wonderful and heinz
Ward and Ed Reid and I love that stuff. Do
we have any of that back and forth from like
the last few years. Is this a rivalry because I

(04:01):
always define rivalries as necessitating back and forth. It's not
just history. Bears Packers ain't a rivalry. We'll get to
that late. It is not. I've said that over and over.
You have to have some sides win each time. And
you go into this game and you're like, you get
that note from research where it's like the Steelers have
won seven of eight against Baltimore. You're like, that can't
be right, Like, there's no possible what They've won eight
of nine against Baltimore. So now you get into the

(04:22):
territory of like, can John Harbaugh beat Mike Tomlin? And
John Harbaugh a legendary guy, can he beat Mike Tomlin
in his own division? And then it gets really dicey
because Peter and I talk about this sometimes, be very
careful criticizing Lamar whatsoever. It's dangerous waters on the internet
because he has fiercely loyal fans and I don't know
if there's a player in the league who is more

(04:43):
emblematic of their franchise than Lamar. He is sacred and
I love Lamar. He's a very likable guy. He's terrible
against Pittsburgh. Not my opinion, not my opinion at all,
because he's very likable. You know, it's not likable. Bring
it up. He's terrible and like bad. This is for
him against any other team as a starter, against not
some random one off, not even the Chiefs, which I'm

(05:04):
leaving out of this conversation. He is also terrible. This
is against your biggest rival. You play at least twice
a year, and likely this year we'll play three times.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Worst worst, worst, worst. Lamar is one of the best
football players to ever lived. He plays his worst football
against the Steelers. Now, if it's once or twice, I
wouldn't go out of my lanes to kneecap him and
say why are.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
You so bad? It's not once or twice. It's really
the entire length of his career. These quarterbacks that he's
losing to this. This isn't like prime Roethlisberger. There's Trubisky's
beating the Ravens. We got Mason Rudolph being there, Kenny Pickett,
New Russell Wilson throwing interceptions in the back of the
end zone, just and field and guess what happened after

(05:44):
you do that? They beat Lamar Jackson, the MVP of
the league. So listen, Lamar is great. You gotta be
able to beat the Steelers. Patrick Mahomes doesn't go around
like playing as worst football against the Broncos or the Raiders.
Peyton Manny would not play as worst football against the
Titans in your division. You got to be the man.
And I love Lamar and I hope this they turn
this thing around. You love Lamar, but if we love Lamar,

(06:05):
we have to respect him enough to say, dude, you're
not playing well against your biggest rival, and by the way,
your coach is getting circles ran around you by his
biggest rival. I'm very pleased with this game ball. I'm
excited about it. I think like in our own way,
we all are. Anthony Richardson of the Colts Awesome win,
awesome story. He goes to New Jersey and beats what's
left of the Jets. He beats Aaron Rodgers, complete with

(06:27):
the quote afterwards, if I watched him as a kid
growing up, and this is such an honor to have
this happen. The whole tone was different with the Colts yesterday.
On the first play from scrimmage, they called the design
and run for Anthony Richardson. It didn't work, but it
didn't matter. It was like he's like. He even said afterward,
I've never felt more comfortable in the game. I've been prepared,
I've been ready, I've never felt more comfortable. I like
this and I feel comfortable with his game ball because

(06:47):
with what he represents talent wise.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Never mind the Colts for a second.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
The NFL is more fun if Anthony Richardson can realize
his potential. And it's not just memories of backflips and everything,
it's real wins in real games. The Colts needed him yesterday.
They were on the ropes like they're kind of done
if they lose, they're live now. They had a pulse.
Their quarterback is back. We're not doing the flack with thing.
Anthony Richardson well deserved in a tough couple of weeks.
He was great yesterday. He was the best quarterback on
the field with the first BALLUOT Hall of Famer game

(07:12):
ball of Richardson. Look. I like the way the Lions
built their team too. The Jets tried that way, Joe

(07:34):
Douglas tried that way. They've tried everything, and I just
I look at this picture. Why don't see it? Just
a horrible picture, and it's just so cryptic, and those
three were going to take over the world. And as
oh my god, Rogers is actually there, Salah fired, Douglas
fired Rogers. Who the hell knows. I have no clue
where they're going to go with this, But the legacy

(07:56):
of Joe Douglas is this. I agree with what Peter said.
I don't really care that you drafted a good running
back and you draft a good wide receiver. Some press
his hell. I remember being there at NFL honors in
Arizona when Sauce and Garrett separately get up to get
their Rookie the Year trophies. It's like, Wow, Joe Douglas,
you're really cooking right now. But on the topic of cooking,

(08:17):
you go to a steakhouse, Big Joe's Steakhouse, and the
sides are great, and they're really good drinks, and there's
an ambiance and they even nailed the lighting, and the
service is so good. The steak sucks. I can't eat
this steak and I've sent it back sets it back in.
The sauce is really good, it's incredible. Actually used to

(08:38):
be good. It's not that good anymore. But like everything
is great. It is literally called this steakhouse. It's not
called a sauce house or a side house. You can't
sit here and say yeah. But Michael Carter, Zach Wilson
was not a win. Aaron Rodgers was not a win.
And I guess they really even sent Rogers back because
Davante was not a win, and they put a fresh
sauce on it. So Joe Douglas knew what time it

(09:00):
was when he was sitting in the backyard of Aaron
rodgers Malibu estate, and they knew that they were all
in and then way they were making a deal with
the devil and either we're gonna win the Super Bowl
or this thing's gonna blow up in our face. Guess
what happened. It blew up in their face. It didn't work.
He had two whacks to get a quarterback. I don't
care how many tight ends, linement or dtackles you get.
You don't have a quarterback, you don't have squad. So

(09:20):
I don't feel bad for Joe Douglas. I also am
not carving. Joe Douglas did a really nice job. He's good, dude.
You blew it twice on the quarterback, and the legacy
of all of this is that photograph, Salid Gone, Douglas gone, Rogers,
who the hell knows? I can't get away. If Rogers
is coming back next year, and if he's coming back
to football, is he coming back to the Jets? Does
he want to come back? I think yes, I think
he does. I think, first of all, knowing Rogers, like

(09:43):
most of us do, I think he's stubborn. I think
he's fixated on ending this thing properly. I don't think
he wants to hang it up after this year. Plus
whatever arrangement there is, I'll make a ton of money,
and I think Rogers likes money. The question is also,
do the Jets want Aaron Rodgers back? And what is
the scenario through which Rogers could be the starting quarterback.
I think obviously it would have to do with the

(10:03):
head coaching hires mas. I think you'd have to get
someone who is a guy who's been around, who's experience
doesn't put up any bs, who would be like, yeah,
sure out coach forty two year old there and Rodgers
and all that comes with it. I think then you
also may have to draft a quarterback, and then you're
going through that again, we're doing the Jordan Love experience.
I do think there is a path that Rogers is
the Jets quarterback next year, But there's also a lot

(10:23):
of logic and probably a lot of emotional support from
Jets fans to just say we're done. Cut him if
you have to. I don't care. Put it this way.
You get rid of Solid, you're rid of Dougs, and
you're gonna keep Rogers. Doesn't that still have all the
connective tissue and goes against just fumigating the whole thing.
It would be a weird holdover. And by the way,
he has not played well at all this year and
he's totally healthy and as all his friends. So what's

(10:45):
the case? Jets, Jets, Jets, And this is how it goes.
You finally lose and everyone just lines up to pick
away at you, and who in the AFC is gonna
take you out here? I have no ill will at
all for the Chiefs. Today. They gave up thirty points
for the first time since the Eagles Super Bowl, which
was two Super Bowl wins ago. They went up against
the Bill team that was better last night. They fought
they didn't. They came up short. It's fine. I just

(11:05):
think for the Bills, I think today and anybody connected
to their team, today is not a day of celebration.
This is not a break to table day. This is
not a parade day. Very exciting play all time. Josh
Allen will show it when he retires. But if you're
looking to how to act as a Bills fan Bill's Mafia,
look at number seventeen after the game with Tracy Wolfson.

(11:27):
This was perfect, you.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
Said all week, it's just another week eleven game.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
You just ruin their perfect season, you beat your arrival. Really,
is it just another week eleven win? Or does this
one mean more?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
It is it's another week eleven win.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Knowing how things usually play out, we'll probably see this
team again at some point. We got to get there first,
so we'll, like I said, enjoy this bye week, go
into it next week or the week after that, and
try to put together a good game plan.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Try to go one to know. I know there's this
feeling from Bills fans. We're like, give us a little something,
Josh does No, no, no, I'm not giving you a squat.
You know why, because we've beaten these guys four times.
This is what I do. I know how to beat
Patrick Mahomes. I know how to beat the cheese. This
is It's not a holiday, this is not special. I'm
not throwing a party. This is not a parade. He
said it. We're going to see them again. He knows
exactly what time it is. And that is the legacy

(12:13):
of this game. I'm in my hotel room yesterday. I'm
in California. I don't live here. So after the game
is over on CBS, it goes to local programming, it
goes to Keke Cow and I'm watching the k caw
desk and it's the legendary Jim Hill and he's there
with two analysts and they go, Wow, what an incredible
Chiefs Bills game. What do you think? What's your takeaway?
The first thing out of this guy's mouth is well,

(12:33):
they're going to see him the playoffs, not even a
second to say, like, great win. And he's right, He's right.
I said it last week, you guys. I don't think
the stakes of this were terribly high. If the Bills win,
you know, every member of Chiefs Kingdom is laughing right now,
and they are rolling their eyes. Ooh the Bills beat
us in the regular season again like clockwork. If I'm
a Bill's mafia general, if I'm living in Buffalo Watch seventeen,

(12:57):
it's no big deal. We beat the Chiefs. We know
how to beat the Chiefs, and this year we'll try
to beat them in the playoffs. But normally the Josh
Allen stick on the Chiefs is a little annoying because
of the monotone. It seems subhuman. I think that's exactly
how you like, this is not a big deal. You're
the Bills. There the Chiefs start acting like this is
normal and it will be. I feel like there's a
pushback that I'm arriving on, which is like, I'm rooting

(13:18):
for Trey Lance and I want to see him have success.
Do we want to throw him out there with that garbage?
Like is he gonna have any chance with disinterested cdlans
and no offensive line getting pushed around by somebody named Settle?
I don't know, Like I, is there any chance inventing success?
So we put him in there, he gets absolutely destroyed,
and then the season ends. His free agent nobody wants him.
I kind of agree with you, but then I'm also

(13:38):
like I don't know. You could put anybody in there
right now. It's so often there's no running backs. The
wide receivers don't care. The offensive line is trying. It's
just I can't imagine him having success in this thing.
So Trey Lance one of the most interesting figures in
the nut. I mean, like this sort of bigfoot type figure.
It's very strange. If you go back to the original Gladiator,

(13:59):
real ones know that Maximus wasn't even the baddest dude
in the movie. In my opinion, it was Maximus's coach, Proximo. Proximo,
And that's why I'm going, are you not entertained? Man?
How why you were here? Man? What we do in life? Man?
That was an attorney. Man. I would put my life
in that man's hands. If they come to me and

(14:20):
they say, Kyle just screwed, They're gonna toss you to
the tigers. You gotta choose somebody to fight for you.
I'm gonna go over to to Proximo Campbell. He's gonna
pack in a giant ass dip and he's gonna go
in there and just rip skulls out. I would put
my faith in it. He'll get me again. It might
not be pretty, but I'm gonna get behind Dan Campbell
man and he will do what has to do. Tigers man,

(14:42):
and he's a lion, he's not afraid of tigers. Dan Campbell,
please get me home, baby, That's all I need.
